Taylor Momsen tones down makeup as she gets older

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Momsen tones down her makeup as she gets older.
The 29-year-old star has been active in showbusiness since she was a child and has fronted rock band the Pretty Reckless since 2009 but admitted that her eye makeup becomes “less extreme” with age.
She said: “I think that the biggest thing is that we’re just older and we’ve been around the block a few times now. And I’ve certainly grown since the beginning of this band physically, mentally, eye makeup-wise. I still like a good smokey eye, just a little less extreme. I’ve taken it down everyday!”
Meanwhile, the former ‘Gossip Girl’ star explained that she would no longer call acting her “passion” even though it was once and explained that music was just something she stumbled and is unsure if she will ever return to starring on TV and in movies.
She told ELLE: “Personally, I don’t really consider myself an actress. I wouldn’t call it a passion. It was just something I always did, I kind of didn’t know anything differently and music was something I was always doing, just behind the scenes. I was always writing songs and playing instruments and singing and it just took. I had to get to a certain age and growing pains came with that because it’s all me. There’s no script. There’s no director. There’s no outside forces. It’s all me. It’s a wonderful career, a wonderful job. I think when I was younger, a lot of my quotes got misinterpreted—I was very drastic with my language [laughs]. It was always fine. It was never something I truly loved. That’s not to say that I’ll never play a character in a movie or something, but it’s not something I’m pursuing at all. Acting is something I did and maybe I’ll do it again. Who knows? But music will forever be a constant. It’s not going anywhere.”

Kate Hudson believes beauty comes from within

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Hudson believes beauty treatments are no substitute for healthy living.
The ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ actress insisted there are no secrets as to why she looks great on the red carpet but attributes her glow to being a “very healthy person” who eats well and exercises regularly.
She told PureWow: “The thing is, I’m a very healthy person. You can do anything you want in the world, and it’s not gonna change being active and eating right and supplementing correctly. That is where it all starts.
“When people start to change the way that they eat, and how they…move their body, you see a huge difference in your skin elasticity, period. There’s no laser that’s gonna help you with that.”
The 43-year-old actress admitted the lesson beauty comes from within has long been instilled in her by her own mother, Goldie Hawn.
She said: “My mom is all about health and sleep…and she was always about food and supplementing properly.
“I feel like my mom’s the OG in that way, she was drinking all these tinctures and green juice before anyone was talking about it.
“Our beauty comes from how we feel, and how we’re able to manage our stress.”
While Kate hasn’t tried laser treatment or Morpheus skin-tightening procedures, she won’t rule them out completely, but is cautious about the way she talks about such things.
She said: “I haven’t really gotten into any invasive things yet.
“I’m sure at some point I will discover how painful these things are, but not yet.
“My thing about the whole, kind of obsession with…people getting Botox and filler and whatever…is the way that we talk about it. My hope is that young girls don’t want to change what they’ve been given, [and know] how beautiful they are, just as they are.”

Frank Ocean: Using lab-grown diamonds was an easy decision

OHMYGOSSIP — Frank Ocean insists it was an “easy decision” to use lab-grown diamonds for his Homer brand.
The 35-year-old rapper felt it would not have been “in step with the times” to use mined stones in his high-end jewellery range and insisted there is no difference in clarity and colour between the two types of rock.
He said: “This was an easy decision.
“There are few jewellers who look like me. There are few black jewellers in the space of fine jewellery, black family-owned jewellers.
“More than it being a point of difference it also would not have felt in step with the times to extract diamonds from the Earth and to include mined diamonds in our supply chain.
“Of course, the value of what we make is not entirely based on the materials we use, no more than this cell phone’s value is captured from adding up the cost of silicone and cobalt and glass etc.
“But man-made diamonds are in fact identical to mined diamonds, they are the same arrangement of carbon. Light moves through them at half speed, same as a mined diamond and our standards for clarity and colour are equal to the best in our business except we don’t have to clear forests and send people into the earth to find ours.”
The ‘Thinkin’ Bout You’ singer has opened a Homer store in Manhattan, surrounded by traditional watch and jewellery repair workshops and other specialist retailers and Frank thinks people benefit from visiting the shop, rather than just browsing online.
He told The Week: “In store, you understand the scale, the weight.
“We’ve noticed people coming into the store knowing exactly what they want from seeing it online but they come to see it in person anyway.”

Shirley Manson was inspired by ‘cool’ Kylie Minogue

OHMYGOSSIP — Shirley Manson was “captivated” by Kylie Minogue’s transformation into a “cool alt” figure.
The Garbage frontwoman praised the ‘I Should Be So Lucky’ hitmaker for stepping away from her girl-next-door pop persona in the early 1990s in favour of a more “fantastic and dangerous” image when she began dating late INXS frontman Michael Hutchence.
Shirley said: “Well, it goes as far back as me watching Kylie become sort of cool alt-Kylie Minogue. She was this pop princess who dabbled in alternative culture and it changed the way we all viewed her.
“I’m talking specifically about when she became involved with Michael Hutchence. All of a sudden she was wearing leather and singing Better the Devil You Know, and looking absolutely fantastic and dangerous.
“I was really captivated by that transformation.”
When it came to her own breakthrough into the music scene, the 56-year-old singer was determined to stand out from the crowd.
She recalled to The Face magazine: “When I was preparing to release the first Garbage record, I was aware that alt-girls were dressing sort of tough.
“They were all in plaid shirts, jeans and combat boots. I didn’t want to be like that – not because I didn’t think it was a cool look, but I just wanted to have my own identity and stick out from the crowd. I always thought that’s what fashion was all about.
“I took a small note from the club scene that I used to party in when I was younger. I was into neon colours, which was very non alt-rock.
“But when I emerged, it really caught the alt scene by surprise because nobody was dressing like that. I definitely was a rule unto my own back then by default, because I just didn’t want to look like everybody else.”

The 32-year-old model shot to international stardom on the catwalk – but Jourdan admits that the pandemic was a turning point in her career.

Jourdan came to feel disenchanted with the fashion industry over a period of time.
She said: “I was at a stage where I was like, this doesn’t feel meaningful for me any more. I feel like I’m not expressing the different parts of Jourdan. There’s so much more.”
Jourdan actually had a passion for acting before she “knew anything about fashion”, and the catwalk star is thrilled to have been cast in the ITV drama ‘Riches’.

Despite this, she still feels amazed by what she’s already managed to achieve in her life.
The model – who has a 12-year-old son called Riley – said: “When I’m on set doing a TV show, or in Paris for a day … if you’d have told me this would be my life I would’ve been like, ‘What the hell? No way. Me?’ So it’s exciting to feel like I’m becoming the woman I always wanted to be.”

“When I said I wanted seamless shapewear, everyone looked and thought that I was crazy. The thing that always bothered me [with other brands] was that there would be a seam up the front. You would have this really tight dress and then see this seam, defeating the purpose of wearing something that is supposed to look like there is nothing underneath.
“I’m all about comfort and glamour at the same time. I always think you can do it all, so why not have everything that you need as far as your products?”

The late Louis Vuitton designer’s widow – who has daughter Lowe, nine, and son Grey, six, with her husband – has reflected on their life together a year after his tragic death aged 41 in November 2021 after being diagnosed with cardiac angiosarcoma.
Speaking to the New York Times, she said keeping their home life out of the spotlight was “never a thing that we discussed”.
She added: “It was just the way our relationship worked. We knew we wanted to build this close family, and we needed someone to be the stable partner. I was happy to do that.”

A decade later, he got his diagnosis, and he fought for two years until he passed away last year.

“So we never had the ‘this is the legacy that I want you to work toward’ discussion.
“But because I was with him for so long, I knew every inch of him. I knew every inch of his brain.”
Shannon admitted the two years in lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic meant they had time together before his death.
She said: “I know that COVID was an incredibly hard thing for so many people. But for us it was an amazing time because Virgil didn’t have to make excuses to get out of shows or DJ-ing.

“All the while, I have been pushing forward in my career, but it has always been something that has been there. It has been something to hide to avoid nasty comments, ridicule, and hate.
“But I’m done with hiding, our skin does not affect our worth. We are all beautiful, just as we are – no filters, no covering up, no makeup. You deserve to live your life without your skin holding you back. You are beautiful.”

At the time we were managed by the same person and Roland mentored me. He was never involved with the design side of things, but he introduced me to a team of people that could support me. So there was something so sweet and naive about the fact I didn’t care. I just expressed myself in that way. That’s what is so great about YouTube; anything that you want to watch is so easy to find. It’s the most incredible archive.”
