Harris Reed: My mother’s support when I came out was amazing

OHMYGOSSIP — Fashion designer Harris Reed will forever be grateful for the “amazing” support he got from his mother when he came out as homosexual.
The 26-year-old clothing expert – who is the creative director for French fashion house Nina Ricci – told his model mother Lynette Reed that he was gay when he was just nine years old and he’ll never forget her unwavering words of love and encouragement which gave him the confidence to be himself.
In an interview with ELLE UK – for which Harris and his work was photographed by Silvana Trevale – he shared: “I remember sitting at the dining table and announcing, ‘Mom, I like boys. I’m gay.’ And her being like, ‘Yeah, we know. We see that. We love that.’ It was really amazing to have that kind of support.”
From that moment, Harris – whose dad is British documentary film producer Nicholas Reed – decided to embrace who he was in his fashion choices at school, but he admits it wasn’t always easy.
He said: “I was very much a child that always knew who I was, in the sense that I wore exactly what I wanted. I had quite exaggerated mannerisms and I didn’t really give a f*** about how I expressed myself, whether in a Walmart or in the playground. I think it made my mom’s job more challenging, because she was constantly shifting me and my sister around to make sure that I was in spaces where I was accepted and not ridiculed.
“I remember wearing rhinestone Havaianas and eating lunch in the boys’ bathroom, hiding my feet because people kept tormenting me.”
Harris – who has dressed stars such as Harry Styles Adele, Beyoncé and Miley Cyrus among many more – says his move to London to study at Central Saint Martin’s art school opened his eyes to the wider LGBTQ+ community and emboldened him even further to be his true self and to reflect his personality in his work.
He said: “I remember calling my mom the first week of my degree, sobbing, ‘Mom, am I basic? I think I’m so basic.’ It was the first time I had met a transgender individual. The first time I met someone who was non-binary. I had friends who were pansexual, who were polyamorous. I felt so uneducated – I thought wearing skinny jeans, combat boots and my AllSaints biker was the limit of who I was, and then I realised I had not even cracked the surface.”
Explaining how his new friends and community changed his work, he added: “I was designing womenswear how womenswear ‘should’ be designed. Then I experimented with menswear, going very Savile Row in a traditional sense. And then I was like, ‘What the f*** am I?’ My work was getting mediocre responses because I didn’t believe in it.”

Annie Mac shares secret to hangover free nights out

OHMYGOSSIP — Annie Mac has perfected her drinking routine so she doesn’t get a hangover.
The former BBC Radio 1 DJ is currently performing her Before Midnight show, a club night for the “sleep conscious” which starts at 7pm and ends before the clock strikes 12.
Annie, 44, is wary of having to be up early in the morning for her two children – whom she shares with her husband, fellow DJ Toddla T – and she has devised a way to booze through her set without suffering from the repercussions of a headache and sickness the following day.
Speaking on Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett’s weekly podcast Dish, she shared: “At the moment for Before Midnight, I’ve figured out the key [to drinking].
“I drink water all night and every half an hour I have shot of Grey Goose. Start about nine-thirty. Nine, nine-ish, and then I go through, so I have about five or six shots, but over the course, and then you sweat it all out and you drink water. You’re not hungover the next day. It works well.”
Annie still has a rider for her shows, and she puts a variety of different alcoholic drinks for her friends and backstage buddies to enjoy.
The ‘Who Killed The Night’ presenter used to ask for pig paraphernalia on her gig rider as she loves the farmyard animals, but she had to take that unusual request off her list after she once entered her dressing room to be faced by two live pigs staring back at her.
She said: “The rider now is a bottle of champs. Bottle of Grey Goose. Loads of beers. Nice Peroni. Pack of Nurofen Express. Berocca. And various different like salads and fruit and stuff.
“I had a time where I had pigs on my rider. Like basically, I really like pigs. I like pigs a lot. As animals, not as food, as animals. Pig paraphernalia. So, it was like something piggy, like a mug with a pig on it or a fridge magnet that’s a pig or something. There was a gig in Southampton where I went into my dressing room and there was two live pigs. They didn’t like the bass. It was a bit much for them. At another gig like a week later. I went into the dressing room and I had a toilet attached, I got en suite and I went to go to the toilet, and one of the promoters was wearing a full human size pig outfit, and he was hiding in the toilet. After that I took pigs of the rider!”
‘Dish’, hosted by Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett, is available on all podcast providers now.

“I’m finally comfortable in my own skin. I don’t need armor when I’m already armed with my experiences and the wisdom they’ve brought.
“All the really good stuff is crammed into this body and invisible on the outside. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. It’s what keeps me standing tall and proud – even when undressed.”

“Sandwiched in between, there was a new life: travel, modeling work as an older woman, and making new friends wherever I went. A beautiful and perfect blend of the new and the old.
“In 2023, my hopes are to be able to let go of the past. To quit trying to live in it for comfort – even though it hurts and will keep hurting as long as I sit there.
“The unknown ahead is scary. So scary, that the pain of the past is preferable. This is what I want to conquer next. My fear of the unknown. To boldly go where I have never been before.”

The 38-year-old star also recalled the reaction to his recent Esquire cover, with lots of people saying they were “so glad” to see it.
He laughed: “There were all the tweets saying, ‘We’re so glad’ — I was like, the cover for Esquire magazine recently — and they’re like, ‘It’s so good to see a plus-sized man be dressed really well.

Oti Mabuse never regrets a workout

OHMYGOSSIP — Oti Mabuse never regrets a workout.
The 32-year-old star served as a professional dancer on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ from 2015 until 2021 but since entering her 30s has had to accept that her body has changed and now “loves” going to the gym to stay in shape.
She said: “I’m not dancing as much anymore and I’m also in my 30s now, so I had to let go of thinking that my body was going to stay the same compared to when I was training a lot and in my 20s. I never thought I’d say this, but I love going to the gym now. There are certain targets I’ve set for myself, but honestly, the goal is to be stronger; have more energy; be more focused and just feel good. A workout is the one thing I’ll never regret, even when I’m so tired and really don’t feel like it, I know I’ll feel so good after”
‘The Masked Dancer’ judge went on to add that she used to overindulge on junk food when stressed
She told Health and Wellbeing magazine: “When I wasn’t in a great headspace, I’d be like, where’s the chocolate and crisps and biscuits. I think how I was feeling mentally was directly linked to food, so when I was feeling low, I’d grab a burger or fries or ribs-just something that was really fatty and carb-y. I have friends who shrink and really tone up when they’re stressed because they’ll take up jogging, but I’m just not one of those people. I’m like, I’m stressed, I’m gonna cry in the shower. Don’t knock if you hear music playing really loudly and when I come out, I’ll be glowing because of the steam.”

Davina McCall wore a wig on The Masked Singer

He wrote on Instagram: “Ep 1 of @maskedsingeruk @itv with @davinamccall and a wig from @pakcosmetics simple to do this one. The wig is about £120 it’s real hair so we can used it again and restyle it for future jobs. Products used @ogxbeautyuk tame and shine cream.”(sic)
The celebrity hairdresser – who has worked with the likes of Johnny Depp, Kate Moss and Sienna Miller, as well as Rochelle Humes, Laura Whitmore, Dawn French and Holly Willoughby during his career – explained in the video that in order to cram Davina’s braided hair into the hairpiece.
He said:” I wet all the hair down first of all and then I used Tame and Shine cream from OGX beauty. It’s a nice thick creamy consistency and it’s not very sticky but it’s good at getting the hair quite close to the scalp for putting a wig on. So I covered her hair in it, then I used a fine toothcomb and just really drag the product through the hair, making it nice, neat, and flat at the back with a couple of clips and wrap up the braid. So I just put some straightening irons through it with a little turn on the end. I decided to go really quite short on the fringe so it looks like a wig, essentially.”

I still do my yoga and I’m still quite flexible, even with my joints, so I just take each day as it comes and see what’s thrown at me.”

Gwyneth Paltrow planning January detox

OHMYGOSSIP — Gwyneth Paltrow is planning a new year detox.
The ‘Iron Man’ actress is currently “assessing” which regime she should undertake this January and is thinking about Panchakarma, a personalised intensive regime which involves up to 28 days of hands-on treatment for four-hours a day along with a “rigid” diet and detoxifying teas.
Asked if she is planning a detox or plunge this month, Gwyneth said in a ‘This and That’ Q+A for her Goop newsletter: “Yes, but I’m still assessing which one. I may do Panchakarma with Martha Soffer—I haven’t done that in 9 or 10 years.”
She shared a Goop link to what the programme entails, which stated: “Full-on Panchakarma is a commitment: It’s 3 to 28 days of hands-on treatment (four hours per day), along with detoxifying teas and a rigid, and often ascetic, diet. It can also be expensive. But for those who are able to access the program, committing time to it—especially regularly with the change of the seasons—is incredibly healing.”
The 50-year-old star also recommended various programmes that Goop offer for readers looking for a “very effective reset”.
She wrote: “Our G.Tox 7-Day Reset Kit is great for that. There’s a nice amount of food. It’s not too harsh or extreme. The ingredients are high-quality. And it can be a very effective reset.
“Also, I’m so excited for our annual five-day detox food plan, which comes out this Thursday.
“Chef Kim Floresca of goop Kitchen developed the recipes this year. And if you’re in the LA area, there’s the added benefit that you can order some of the meals from goop Kitchen instead of making them yourself.”
Elsewhere, Gwyneth is excited about some product additions in the Goop shop.
She said: “The newest additions to our clean beauty shop are in hair care: a clinically tested ultranourishing shampoo and conditioner from Ranavat. And a deep-conditioning mask from Rahua for colour-treated hair (thank you).”

Karrueche Tran dresses to suit her mood

OHMYGOSSIP — Karrueche Tran dresses according to her mood.
The ‘Bel Air’ actress looks for something “form fitting” when she is “feeling sexy” but even when she wants to be comfortable, she usually opts for an outfit that shows skin or is teamed with high-heeled shoes because she thinks style stems from feeling confident.
She told PopSugar: “My personal style is typically based on my mood. If I’m feeling sexy one day, then I lean towards an LBD (little black dress) or something form fitting.
“If I feel like I want to be comfortable and cute, I’ll do something like a pair of boyfriend jeans and a crop or even a sweatsuit set and a pair of heels. In my opinion, style is about confidence.”
The 34-year-old star’s latest job is as presenter and judge on Fuse TV’s fashion competition series ‘Upcycle Nation’ and though it was unlike anything she’d worked on before, she jumped at the chance because of the show’s unique focus on sustainability, with the contestants tasked with transforming discarded items into new articles of clothing.
She said: “I was intrigued because I felt it was different than any other fashion competition show.
“It’s fun and creative, yet it’s informative and shows the viewers how we can be mindful of how we waste our clothing and household items to help save our planet…
“There are so many different ways we can upcycle and reuse old clothing and household items into cool and innovative pieces.
“I really enjoyed being able to watch these designers create in real time. They all took each challenge seriously and did their best. I was very surprised at what the designers created.”

Lizzo ‘selling a feeling’ with Yitty

OHMYGOSSIP — Lizzo is “selling a feeling” with Yitty.
The ‘Good Is Hell’ hitmaker – who co-founded the shapewear, activewear and loungewear business in March last year – doesn’t want to “force” people into buying from her range but she wants them to have a satisfactory shopping experience, which will stem from the work the brand have done on inclusivity.
Asked if she thinks the body positive movement is authentic or performative, she said: “I think, like, everyone should ask themselves, ‘How is my shopping experience? How’s my shopping experience been?’
“In my lifetime, it doesn’t matter what your body type is like, I’ve heard people always struggle to find something that they like that fits them, you know? So, I don’t know. I can’t answer that question for you.
“I know what Yitty is doing. And we’re doing the work to be inclusive. And not just for the sake of being inclusive but just because we want to. Just because we can. And I think that speaks volumes.
“It’s not just selling an item, but, like, selling a feeling.
“I don’t ever want to force people to purchase something. And I think I’ve been in the same boat. Which is why I started a brand that is just like, on your own terms.”
The 34-year-old singer admitted part of her motivation behind Yitty was to make garments she could wear herself.
She told WWD: “Yitty is, like, basically a dream in the making. I feel like I, you know, always had to make my own way in the fashion world. Always had to have just like people make outfits for me, cuz, I fit a lot of the clothes.
“And I have a lot of ideas that I want to execute that, you know, just simply didn’t exist. So when Yitty started, it was more so of, like, I need to make something for myself. I need to like…I want to make a product that I can wear and that I can be comfortable in, starting with shapewear.”
Yitty has just added a Smoothed Reality range of underwear and Lizzo admitted she’s always wearing her own products.
She said: “I’ve been wearing it for a while now, because, you know, lucky me, I get to wear all the prototypes and stuff.
“I’m wearing Yitty, like, every day on tour. It’s wild. I don’t even have to, like, pack anything anymore because I just, like, throw Yitty [in a suitcase]. I wear my Yitty shapewear on stage. I have my Yitty bodysuits that I wear in the first half of the show. After the show, I’m in, like, Pet Me by Yitty. I’m in my Major Label when I work out. Like, I’m just in the Yitty-verse, fully.”

Speaking to Goop, she said: “Supergood mineral sunscreen is the most important step in my morning routine. I don’t always have time for a full beauty routine in the morning, but I never skip SPF. Supergoop was my first-ever investment, over 10 years ago, when they had only a handful of products. I love this mineral one—it’s a smooth foundation for any makeup application.”
And Maria, 35, also loves the beauty tool Therabody Theraface Pro, which offers a number of skin-care treatments, from microcurrent and LED light to facial massages.
She said: “I had a glimpse at the first prototype a couple of years ago, and I couldn’t wait for its release. This device is such a treat! “With Backstreet Boys back on tour, morning workouts are a must.
“I love to do weights and mix in some cardio.”
Nick’s younger brother Aaron Carter tragically died last month aged 34, and the ‘I’ll Never Break Your Heart’ hitmaker recently admitted it was “tough” going out on stage in London just a day later but he was thankful for the support of his bandmates and the love of the crowd.
He said: “It was very emotional for me, having my guys with me. There’s the old saying, ‘The show must go on,’ that’s been with us for years, but that night, I didn’t know what to expect.
“I didn’t know what was going to come from it, getting on that stage. Getting the reaction from the fans, it was definitely comforting, and it meant a lot to me.”
Nick was seen sobbing at the Backstreet Boys concert in November, when the group paid tribute to the late singer by playing ‘No Place’ as photos of the siblings played onscreen.
As Nick was comforted by his bandmates A.J. McLean, Brian Littrell and Howie Dorough, Kevin Richardson told the crowd: “Tonight we’ve got heavy hearts because we lost one of our family members yesterday, and we just wanted to find a moment in our show to recognise him.

Marie Osmond hated her body

OHMYGOSSIP — Marie Osmond “grew up loathing” her body.
The ex ‘Donny and Marie’ star called it “shameful” what she was made to believe about herself as a teen superstar alongside her brothers Donny, Jimmy, Merrill, Jay, Viril, Alan and Wayne.
She said: “I had so many head trips as a child over my weight. It’s shameful what people did. We grew up loathing our bodies and wanting to change them. It’s stupid. We need to love this beautiful gift, this body we’ve been given.
And if you’re not happy in it, then do something about it because your body loves you.”
Last year, Marie admitted she was considering having cosmetic surgery to get her neck lifted.
She said: “I’m going to tell you something. Lucille Ball was a haemophiliac. And she showed me how to keep my neck looking good with no surgery. And you braid it, you take your hair, and you pull it, and I’ve been doing that for three years now. And I’m tired of it. So I think I might go get my neck fixed What do you think?! Should I? I want to.
“I’m thinking about doing it for my birthday. Because everyone goes ‘you look so…’ Guys, c’mon, smoke and mirrors. This is Hollywood!”
If she does have the cosmetic op, the 63-year-old star will happily tell the world about it.
She added: “Seriously, people compare themselves and they’re all so secretive about this c***.
“Hey, when I’m going to do it, I’ll tell you! And I’m thinking about it. So maybe. You know, I’m thinking. I’m getting headaches, I’m tired of this! I can’t wait to hear the comments on that. I am so stinking honest. It’s who I am.”
