Brooke Shields was ‘envious’ of naked Emily Ratajkowski’s body confidence on photoshoot

OHMYGOSSIP — Brooke Shields was “envious” of Emily Ratajkowski’s confidence to be naked the “whole time” on a photoshoot they did together.
‘The Blue Lagoon’ star worked with the 31-year-old model-and-actress and a select group of other people for a themed magazine shoot a few years ago.
In an interview with The New Yorker, Brooke – who is currently promoting Hulu show ‘Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields’ a two-part documentary about how she was sexualised as a child performer – was asked if she had ever read Emily’s essays ‘My Body’ about the objectification she had experienced as part of her research.
The question prompted Brooke, 57, to recall her astonishment at how comfortable Emily was on their photoshoot to constantly be seen in her birthday suit.
The ‘Jane the Virgin’ star said: “It’s interesting. We were in this photoshoot together, Emily and myself and three or four other people, for the anniversary of a no-makeup issue or something. And she was nude the whole time!”
Clarifying that “it wasn’t a nude photo shoot” and both were clothed for the cameras, she added: “At first, I was, like, ‘Put some clothes on!’ Then this other part of me was envious of that freedom.
“I just remember thinking, ‘Damn, that girl’s got b****.’ How cool would it be to feel that free and competent in your own body?”
Brooke posed without clothes in a bathtub, styled with heavy makeup, for Playboy when she was just 10.
When she was 12 she was required to lose her garments for her role as an underage prostitute in the 1978 movie ‘Pretty Baby’, and, when she was 15, Brooke disrobed for her role in the 1980 coming-of-age romantic survival film ‘The Blue Lagoon’, which was a box office hit.

‘I can see that in my future!’ SZA wants to be a fashion designer

OHMYGOSSIP — SZA wants to be a fashion designer.
The 33-year-old rap star – whose real name is Solána Imani Rowe – is best known for hits like ‘Kiss Me More’ and ‘Good Days’ but predicted that she will have a change of career in the future and start to create clothes at some point because designing is in her “nature.”
She told CR Fashion Book: “I feel like designing is in my nature. And I’m gonna continue to do that..”
The GRAMMY Award-winning star went on to describe her mother’s fashion sense as more “conservative” than her own but admitted that because of her heritage, she appreciates the culture of fashion more than any designer brand name.
She added: “She is definitely more conservative than I am. But I still thought [her clothing] was cool because it was thrift, and things that come from places with culture and history are more important than a name brand. And I think that was taught to me through my mom, because I love all of her…like a small copper ring that she got from Nigeria. And she would add it to her outfit, and it just made so much more sense than anything that she could have purchased here, and I’m like, damn, okay, I get it. It’s energy, it’s all just energy. That’s what makes them fly.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Nobody Gets Me’ hitmaker went on to pay homage to ‘Milkshake’ singer Kelis as she remembered looking up to her fellow pop star when she was younger.
She added: “There was no one that looked like her and [also] thought like I did. And I think now we know people like Kelis exist. So, looking at her growing up, I was like, wow, I am that!”

‘That’s a hot tip for the curvy ladies!’ Succession star Sarah Snook gives her fashion advice

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Snook thinks that buying bigger sizes is the way forward.
The 35-year-old actress stars as political consultant Siobhan ‘Shiv’ Roy on the hit comedy-drama series ‘Succession’ and explained that what she has “learned” about fashion since working on the show is to buy a bigger size and tailor it to fit to avoid feeling “depressed.”
She told Harper’s Bazaar UK: “I’ve learned from Shiv’s wardrobe but also from the costume designer Michelle, who is brilliant, that a lot of the time it is buying bigger and to tailor it down. That is a hot tip for all the curvy ladies out there! That’s the thing I do. If you try on clothes and they don’t fit, you end up really depressed. But actually, it doesn’t fit because you weren’t the model that they made this particular pair of pants for and that’s perfectly reasonable and fine.
Meanwhile, Sarah went on to add that she enjoys wearing her character’s corporate clothes but joked that because of the long gap between shooting, she got a shock when she had to put the costume on again after almost a year away.
She added: “Shiv’s outfits – they’re great. I really enjoy wearing the corporate wardrobe and feeling very powerful and no-nonsense in that kind of way. But it’s a little tricky sometimes in that we had a year off almost between shooting the second and third season and I had to come back and put these clothes on. And I was like ‘I don’t know who played Shiv before me or what I’m even doing in these clothes!'”

Jodie Turner-Smith: ‘I love to have fun with fashion!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Turner-Smith loves to have “fun” with fashion.
The 36-year-old actress says that “everyone remembers” the yellow dress she wore to the BAFTA Awards in 2020 and admitted that when it comes to her clothing choices, she is going to embrace the opportunity to do “crazy” things while she can.
She told ELLE UK: “The yellow Gucci dress that I wore to the BAFTAs? Everyone remembers that dress, it permanently stores itself in everybody’s brain – mine included. I love to have fun! I think fashion is play, it’s costume: an opportunity for expression of self – or whatever self you happen to be in that particular moment.I am of the opinion that while I look like this, I’m gonna do all the crazy things with it that I can.”
The ‘White Noise’ star went on to explain that being a “young actor” allows her to make certain choices with her clothes and that her “live in the moment” attitude is inspired by her mother and her humble beginnings.
She said: “There are certain things that I’m able to do and wear and get away with, and opportunities that being a young actor affords me. You want me to wear the clothes? Yes! They may not want me to wear the clothes forever…I have a mother who has such a beautiful spirit. In Jamaican culture there’s a sense of celebration in existence. That’s part of it, and I think there’s something in the way I was raised. We were poor, but I never really had a sense of it. I certainly wasn’t as poor as my mother when she was growing up, but when you come from not having anything, you want to grasp life with both arms.”

Selena Gomez releasing lip oil range ‘flattering for any skin tone’

OHMYGOSSIP — Selena Gomez’s motivation for creating her new lip oil range was to have a product that “would be flattering for any skin tone”.
The ‘Only Murders in the Building’ star’s cosmetics company Rare Beauty is expanding its range with a new Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil, which will be released on March 30.
The product line launches in eight colours; Hope (nude mauve), Happy (cool pink), Joy (muted peach), Serenity (warm rose), Affection (muted berry), Delight (rose brown), Wonder (rose mauve), and Honesty (nude brown), and Selena is confident she has a product which will suit all women.
In an interview with ELLE.com, she said: “The inspiration came from wanting to create a lip product that could create the same flush of color for lips that the Soft Pinch Liquid Blush creates for cheeks. The lip oil is a great daytime lip product when I want nourishing, long-lasting color that doesn’t need to be reapplied throughout the day.
“It’s different from other lip oils because the transformative texture is unlike anything I have experienced in a lip oil. When applied, it goes on like a jelly but transforms into a hydrating formula. It’s special! Most lip oils I have tried have a smaller shade range because it’s hard to develop, but it was really important to us to create a wide range that would be flattering for any skin tone.”
Selena’s favourite shade is Happy and she wears the product in the campaign to launch the range.
The 30-year-old actress-and-singer has a top style tip to maximise the effectiveness of the lip oil – pair it with Rare Beauty’s waterproof lip liner.
She said: “Pairing the lip oil with my waterproof lip liner creates serious staying power. On its own, it’s long wearing and leaves lips with a soft stain for all day wear.”

Adam Lambert got a job at Starbucks to buy makeup

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Lambert got his first job in order to buy makeup.
The 41-year-old singer became interested in fashion and cosmetics during his teenage years but because his parents refused to buy him makeup products so he took up a job serving coffee at Starbucks in order to fund his passion.
He told Allure: “As I got into my teenage years, I started getting really interested in fashion. I was buying a lot of magazines. I was looking at editorials and was so into what I was seeing, and I was like, “I want to try to do that. I want to be able to do that.” The first cosmetics brand that I dove into was MAC.
“I remember I would beg for something from MAC. And then at some point, my parents were like, ‘Well, we’re not going to just buy you this s***. You have to buy it yourself.’ So I got a job and I had some spending money, and so I was buying stuff for myself. Unfortunately, the job was not at a makeup counter. I was 16, I was working at Starbucks.”
The former ‘American Idol’ contestant – who is often seen on stage sporting extravagant looks as part of rock band Queen – went on to add that he would charge the girls at school to do their makeup for formal occasions and would take on so many appointments that he would have enough money by the end of it that he could afford to take his own date out for dinner.
He added: “I mean, one of the things I wanted to spend my money on was to build a makeup kit. I started doing makeup on friends [in high school]. Every year for the school dances, I would end up having appointments all afternoon and charge the girls that I knew 10 or 20 bucks a pop. Then by the end of the day, I would do my date’s makeup, and I would have enough cash to go out to dinner with my date. I had so much fun doing it and would take pictures of it. And I did some photography in high school; I ended up doing makeup for that.”

Ekin-Su Culculoglu: I exercise to build up my confidence

OHMYGOSSIP — Ekin-Su Culculoglu doesn’t work out to improve her appearance.
The 28-year-old reality star – who was crowned the winner of the eighth series of ‘Love Island’ alongside boyfriend Davide Sanclimenti – isn’t shy to showcase her gym honed figure.
But according to the Turkish actress-and-influencer, who opened up about her fitness regime, her motivation for working out is not about appearance it’s to build body confidence.
Speaking to the April issue of Women’s Health magazine, she said: “I feel like you need to really understand that [the point of training] is not about looking like a very good-looking woman who’s got a very small waist, big boobs, big bum… It’s not about looking like what’s [in] fashion.”
Since her stint on the ITV dating show, Ekin has moved on from reality TV and is trying to break into acting instead.
She added: “They always say, ‘There’s a new ‘Love Island’, there’s this, there’s that, you’ll be forgotten.’ But that doesn’t bother me because of who I am. I know what I’m going to do in life. And I know my dream.
“Acting in films; playing roles and quirky characters; something that would make you think, ‘Oh, Ekin is not this,’ but then I smash it…
“[March] that’s when I start looking for an acting agency, putting myself out [there], you know, try to distance myself as much as I can from the Love Island scene and, yeah, be my own person.”
Ekin insists that newfound fame hasn’t changed her and she’s no different in real life compared to hen on screen persona.
She said: “So, I think I’m always the same. Confidence-wise, if something p***es me off, unfortunately – even in this society, where sometimes it’s good to be quiet – I will say it…I was the same on Love Island. If I didn’t agree with something, I would have my opinion. And I’m still like that. The only thing that has changed is I probably don’t let things bother me as much.”

When asked what the best way to get her daily boost of Vitamin C was, she told BAZAAR.com: “Probably fresh lemons. We have a lemon tree here in California, and especially during winter months, they’re so plentiful. It’s great because it’s obviously always cold and flu season when the lemons are in bloom, so, it’s nature’s way of helping us keep our immunity up. And, I have our GoopGlow every day for skin, and that has a ton of Vitamin C in it.”

Emma D’Arcy: David Bowie is my style icon

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma D’Arcy’s style is inspired by David Bowie.
The late rock icon was famous for reinventing himself with new pop personas, such as Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane and the Thin White Duke, and his fashion choices have become part of pop culture.
Rising star Emma – who plays Rhaenyra Targaryen in ‘Game of Thrones’ spin-off ‘House of Dragons’ – admits their own bold fashion choices are heavily influenced by Bowie, who passed away in January 2016 at the age of 69.
Talking to Highsnobiety, Emma said: “I’m obviously inspired by David Bowie. Is anyone’s style not inspired by David Bowie? It would be mad to say that! It’s not a conscious decision, but it would be wild to say there is anyone who isn’t influenced by David Bowie. If anything has changed my style, it’s my work.”
Emma – who identifies as non-binary, using the pronouns they/them – admits wearing skirts on the show makes them want to dress more masculine in real life.
The actress added: “Rhaenyra and the many skirts I have to wear to play that character, makes me want to dress more masculine. But doesn’t a recalibration process happen every time someone is pushed into a new context? I’ve learned you have to discover what you aren’t to know what you want to wear.
“I’m a trans-masc presenting person, and broadly, my instinct is to wear rigid shapes softly. I used to be more into texture, but now I’m gradually getting more into bright colours.
“Clothes are armour for me. They’re essential to who I am, and I feel different in different outfits.
“Outfits are a very tangible way to control how people see you. It’s related to why I dyed my hair bright red a little while ago. I didn’t really recognize myself at first — I felt new, and it was bliss. I’m chasing that exact feeling — a distance from a person familiar with my reflection.”
