Idris Elba is adding to his Sable Labs line

OHMYGOSSIP — Idris Elba is adding to his S’ABLE Labs line.
The ‘Luther’ star debuted a three-step skincare line – a cleanser, toner and moisturiser – with his wife Sabrina, 34, last summer and is now adding an array of new products like perfumes, makeup and hair care.
The 50-year-old actor told the Sun’s Bizarre Showbiz column: “As an actor, my skin is always a conversation when I sit in the make-up chair.
“I didn’t really have a dialogue around skincare, but I picked up one.”
“I’ve not got much of a skincare routine but I will give Idris’s a try and let you know.
Sabrina – who hosts the Audible podcast ‘Coupledom’ with Idris – described getting the idea after considering the importance “wellness from the outside in” when it launched back in July.
She told Vogue: “It began during a conversation Idris and I had at a time in which we felt disconnected from our community. It opened up the idea of well-being and self-care that we hadn’t really thought of before – looking at wellness from the outside in, in terms of your community and who’s around you. That’s when it clicked.”
The Arcadia model also revealed that “Sable is actually ‘Elbas’ backwards.”
She continued: “Idris is sweet – he thinks of all these things.
“We realised quickly that there was no one doing it in the wellness space that looked like, spoke like or felt like us – there was no representation for people of colour who wanted to be into wellness and fit in. Plus everything was gender-focused – I’d have conversations with my husband on products he didn’t think he could use [due to them being aimed at women], but could.”

Melissa McCarthy used to sunbathe on a car with baby oil

OHMYGOSSIP — Melissa McCarthy regrets sunbathing on a car with “baby oil and tinfoil” when she was younger.
The 52-year-old star has opened up on how her own beauty routine has evolved over the years and admitted she and her sister Margie took an unusual approach to tanning.
She told PEOPLE magazine: “As you get older, I do think you’re a little more like, ‘Oh, everything we’ve been told since grade school, was that true?’
“Maybe I shouldn’t have laid on a car in Illinois with baby oil on. That’s a true story. My sister [Margie] and I, who just, Irish, shouldn’t have been laying out at all.
“And we’re like, ‘What if baby oil and tinfoil helps?’ And we would lay on a car because we thought if it was hotter, we would tan better. We were raised on a farm. We weren’t sophisticated.”
Melissa insisted when it comes to her face, she takes a lot more care of herself.
She explained: “From here up [she motions above her neck] I feel like I’m really, I’m living it.
“Jams, jellies, serums, weird machines that I use like crazy for four months, and then I don’t know where they are.
“And then it’s here down that my skin could use some work. It’s super hydrated and and then alligator. But I’m working on it, guys. This is my journey.”
The mum-of-two – who has daughters Vivian, 15, and Georgette, 13, with husband Ben Falcone, 49 – admitted time to herself is hard to come by in such a busy household.
When it comes to her skincare, her approach can go one of two ways.
She said: “If I’m taking off my [makeup], I do all my good stuff and the hot towel and the whole thing.
“If I come like this [she points to her professionally made-up face], what you’re seeing right now, this is how I go to bed [she crosses her arms over her chest].
“I go to bed like a corpse. I lie back, and I wake up the next morning and I’m like, ‘Good for me. I can sleep and not move.’ My makeup [artist] is like, ‘Oh, that’s not good. You should wash it all off.’
“I’m like, ‘Look at what you did today. I can’t do this.’ So I sleep like an absolute corpse, and I wake up, and I go and look in the mirror, and it’s like, ‘That’s a full lash, girl.’ ”

Camila Mendes picks her skin ‘until it bleeds’ to deal with acne

OHMYGOSSIP — Camila Mendes has admitted she picks her skin “until it bleeds” to get rid of acne.
The 28-year-old actress admitted she has a painful way of dealing with blemishes on her skin.
Speaking to Allure magazine, she said: “Whenever I have a blemish, I’ll destroy it and pick at it until it bleeds.
“And then it becomes a wound that eventually scars, so hyperpigmentation is one of my biggest ongoing concerns.”
The ‘Riverdale’ star never used to have “an extensive skincare routine” before joining the Netflix show, but she has learned to adjust.
She explained: “Before ‘Riverdale’, I wasn’t someone who wore a lot of makeup or had an extensive skin-care routine.
“But when I started spending hours and hours wearing heavy makeup on set, I saw that my skin was suffering and knew I needed to do more for myself.”
Camila noted she is a minimalist “at heart”, but is willing to “adjust” when necessary.
She added: “When my skin needs some extra TLC, I’ll adjust my routine accordingly.” Typically sticking to a cleanser, toner, moisturiser and sunscreen, occasionally the star will also branch out to eye and face masks, a spot treatment and a facial roller.
She said: “There is no ‘one size fits all’ in skin care. Pay attention to how your skin responds to each product you try, and curate a routine that’s specific to your own needs.”

Akon Changkou says modelling made her appreciate her African beauty

OHMYGOSSIP — Akon Changkou says modelling made her appreciate her African beauty.
The Louis Vuitton model – who is of South Sudanese heritage but grew up in Australia after her family fled the conflict in the country – grew up sad about not being “conventionally pretty” and found it “confusing” to be so “different” in appearance to the rest of her classmates, who were constantly asking rude questions about the texture of her natural hair.
The cover girl told Harper’s Bazaar: “Before I was in this industry, I assumed you had to be conventionally pretty and super tall to do well. I feel like I’ve broken those barriers now. With social media, you’re only posting your successes. It’s like everyone is super glamorous all the time. Growing up, I didn’t wear a lot of makeup, but I felt like I had to do that just to conform. My extreme-contouring phase is a big regret. With modeling, I don’t know if this makes sense, but I feel like I appreciate certain features about myself more than I did before because I’m getting praised for them. I’ve really grown to appreciate my natural beauty and feel the most beautiful in comfortable clothes with a makeup-free face. Feeling this way didn’t come easy. It’s hard because I didn’t grow up in South Sudan, and I wish I did. I was there until I was nine, and then most of my life was in Australia. I grew up around people who didn’t look like me. It was just confusing. When I went to school, I was always the only Black girl in class. I didn’t see myself represented or anything apart from my siblings, who, again, were to me much prettier. I don’t think I was bullied in school, but I did feel different. I’d get the best-hair award and things like that. I’m like, what the hell? Or people would say random comments, like ‘Your hair’s so spongy.’”

Irina Shayk loves meditation as a beauty trick

OHMYGOSSIP — Irina Shayk says “meditation” is sometimes her best beauty trick.
The 37-year-old supermodel believes that sometimes when you aren’t digging your appearance the key to feeling “beautiful” again is getting in touch with your inner self and not opting for another treatment or new outfit.
She told Harper’s Bazaar: “I find that when you don’t feel beautiful, it is just a disconnection of your inner energy. I believe in observing people’s energy. I really do believe in running out of energy, not even physically but emotionally. It’s very important to take time for yourself. It doesn’t matter if it’s 30 minutes or one hour; just connect back and listen to your body and think,“Why do I feel that way?” I recently did a sound bath with my friend Harry Josh, and it was kind of my first time connecting to my mind and body and thinking about all this bad energy leaving me. Everyone needs to find something for themselves. Meditate, go to an infrared sauna. Just do five minutes.”
Irina – who has six-year-old daughter Lea with her ex Bradley Cooper, 48 – continued: “When you physically don’t feel beautiful, the solution isn’t running and doing a facial. Something is disconnected from inside, and that’s why you feel like that outside. It took me a while to figure that out because as a model, you think, “Oh, they expect you to feel pretty and look pretty.” No, it’s not about your external look; it’s what is inside of you. That’s how I would reconnect to myself and try to feel connected and put together inside. And that’s how I feel pretty outside as well.”

She told InStyle magazine: “I’m not the type of girl who’s dreamed of her wedding, I had no idea what I wanted to wear, but I knew I didn’t want it to be super traditional.
“I guess I was kind of thinking Meghan Markle.”

Edward Enninful says producing British Vogue’s new disabled talent issue was ‘one of proudest moments’ of career

OHMYGOSSIP — Edward Enninful says producing British Vogue’s new disabled talent issue was “one of the proudest moments” of his career.
The magazine editor, 51, oversaw May’s edition, titled ‘Reframing Fashion’, which focuses on 19 disabled people from fashion, sport and the arts and features five different covers with various disabled stars – including multiple sclerosis sufferer Selma Blair, 50, and model Ellie Goldstein, 21, who has Down’s syndrome.
Edward, who has visual and hearing issues and a blood disorder he says presents him with “challenges” at work, told the BBC about learning “so much” from making the issue: “My tenure here at Vogue has always been about inclusivity and diversity, and people forget how hard it is for the disabled community.
“It was so important I could relate – I felt real pride that people can actually speak up about disabilities and not have to hide it and how it impacts them.
“I think this is one of the most incredible issues I’ve had the privilege of editing in my tenure.”
Other contributors to the May issue include racing driver Nicolas Hamilton, 31, and comedian Rosie Jones, 32, who both have cerebral palsy, as well as Justina Miles, 20, the deaf sign language interpreter who appeared at Rihanna’s 2023 Super Bowl half time show.
Edward added: “What I loved about all of them is they all just speak up and champion their community by teaching the world to be more caring and understanding.
“Anybody like that deserves to be on a British Vogue cover… what makes this issue so different is the way in which we think about visibility and representation moving from something that is solely based on image and the cover, to being in the room where decisions are made so that it’s not a moment, it’s a movement.”
Actress Selma, 50, who suffered for 40 years with the impacts of MS before it was finally diagnosed, told the issue she is proud to have turned the cane she needs as a result of the disease into a fashion accessory.
She first used one in her first public appearance since announcing her MS diagnosis at the 2019 Vanity Fair Oscar Party.
Selma told British Vogue: “I have an emotional and physical attachment to the cane.
“I settle in my voice and body as soon as I hold (it.) It’s an extension of me. And I know it adds to visibility.
“So many younger people have started publicly embracing their sticks more. I do think representation matters.
“If I can help remove stigma or over-curiosity in a crowd for someone else, then that’s great.”

Zendaya believes fashion is so ‘transformative’ it’s as powerful as ‘storytelling’: ‘I love using clothes to create characters!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Zendaya thinks fashion is so “transformative” it is as powerful as “storytelling”.
The ‘Dune’ actress, 26, who has just been announced as a Louis Vuitton ambassador, added in an interview about taking the new role she loves using clothes to create characters when she’s on red carpets.
She told Vogue about her approach to dressing for premieres, parties and awards ceremonies: “I just enjoy clothes and playing with them and creating new characters.
“That’s what I find fun about fashion – its transformative quality, its ability to be like storytelling.”
Zendaya is fronting Louis Vuitton’s new campaign shot by the iconic Mert and Marcus for the brand’s Capucines handbags, the look of which reminded the ‘Euphoria’ actress of the fashion imagery she loved as a child.
She said: “I remember growing up around LV campaigns. There was this one that I loved from the early 2000s of Naomi Campbell, and she’s like sprawled out over a trunk. I can still see it. I can see the image in my head and I remember seeing it in magazines as a kid.”
Zendaya also reminisced about her friends loving the LV logo: “Everyone had the LV-print on their Myspace page.
“At least I had that! Let me not try to put that on nobody else. That was definitely me.”
Made with full-grain Taurillon leather, LV’s versatile Capucines bag can be worn as a top-handle, crossbody, or shoulder bag and Zendaya said she loves its different purposes.
She said: “I prefer to have my hands free. So either I have a small bag – like a crossbody, that I can take with me everywhere.
“As long as it can fit my phone, lip gloss, and a little camera. I am one of those people that like to fill their bag.
“I gotta put my computer in it, I gotta put this, I gotta put that. So I’m either going all or nothing. I’ve gotta have options. I need options.
“(The Capucines is) really beautifully made and durable. If I buy something I want it to really last me.
“I’m not always the most responsible bag owner, so I might be throwing it around, it might get some real wear in it, you know, because I want to really use it, and it feels so sturdy.”

Ryan Gosling relied on thumb acting for new TAG ad: ‘You can only do so much pointing at things that aren’t necessarily there!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Gosling relied on thumb acting when doing his latest watch ad.
The ‘Drive’ actor joked it solved everything when posing for his new TAG Heuer photoshoot and video campaign as it gave him an alternative to pointing into the distance to show off wrist timepieces.
He told GQ about the advert – which features Ryan in recreations of shots from his crime drama ‘Drive’: “A thumbs up comes in handy when we’re doing these campaigns. You can only do so much pointing at things that aren’t necessarily there, so the thumbs up solves a lot of problems.
“There’s also the thumbs down situation, too. Either one works well for the watch.”
Ryan’s new TAG promo marks the 60th anniversary of the iconic Carrera, and the brand’s CEO Frédéric Arnault said the business wanted to go a step further than “using an image to put on a billboard” for the campaign, so also created a video directed by ‘John Wick’ filmmaker David Leitch.
Frédéric said: “Ryan is an amazing actor, one of the best in Hollywood, but he’s also a creator so he was very involved in the script and helped us choose the other actors, and the director.”
An upcoming commercial shows Ryan acting on set, where he falls in love with a watch being used as a prop he’s wearing for the film he’s shooting and likes it so much that he tries to steal it.
It kicks off a ‘Drive’-style chase by the prop master, played by Vanessa Bayer, to retrieve the watch from Ryan.
The actor revealed how it was party inspired by his experience on ‘The Gray Man’ film: “They were so diligent about getting the watch back, waiting for me right by the camera, to immediately get it back even if it was just a short break so it turned into a funny dynamic.”
Ryan, who wears the latest version of the Carrera Chronograph in the promo, said: “They created this beautiful Art Deco hotel facade in the ad and called it Leonarda, which was Jack Heuer’s wife’s name so there was a lot of love and care put into this from the TAG Heuer team and they had a lot of fun making it too.
“As an aside, it’s been really great working with them. They’re so agile creatively.
“They’ve found a way to make every campaign that we do match the tone and aesthetic in some way to whatever the film is that I’m making at the time.”

Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl launches fashion range to help animals

OHMYGOSSIP — Katherine Heigl has launched a clothing store on Shopify to help animals in need.
The 44-year-old actress – who is known for her playing Dr. Izzie Stevens on the ABC medical drama ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ – explained that because her mother was always so willing to help animals, she decided to launch a range of dog and cat-themed apparel with all profits going to the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation, which she set up in memory of her late brother – who died in a car accident in 1986 – in a bid to help get homeless animals off the streets.
She told PEOPLE: “Somebody asked me recently, ‘Were you the kid that always came home with the stray animal?’ I said, ‘No, my mom was!’ She instilled that in us, this compassion and love for these creatures. We just didn’t know what was going on. We were pet lovers, always had dogs and cats, but didn’t know that so many of their kind were suffering. That’s when this real kind of push to make a difference began. I thought, ‘You know what? If there’s something I can do to incentivise people to financially participate, then I’m going to do that.”
The ‘Firefly Lane’ actress has created the artwork for the apparel herself and explained that she needed to be “brave” to put it out there to see if she can “make a difference” as she thanked her mother Nancy for helping her set up the foundation in the first place.
She said: “I decided I needed to be brave, put it out there and see if it could help us make a difference I actually saw a TikTok video on how to open a Shopify store I hope to expand it out towards more home goods — I’ll have more designs coming out soon but that’s the 10-year goal. My mom is a real inspiration to me in terms of heart, soul, purpose and what’s important in life. I really credit her with all of this. It was really her that was the inspiration and the impetus. She’s a warrior who will not quit and let anything deter her.”

Kylie Jenner: Motherhood has changed the way I think about beauty

OHMYGOSSIP — Kylie Jenner says that being a mother has “changed” her attitude toward beauty.
The 25-year-old makeup mogul was previously known for her use of lip fillers and is rumoured to have had some plastic surgery but since becoming mother to Stormi, five, as well as 14-month-old son Aire with on/off boyfriend Travis Scott and admitted that she now sees “beauty” in her children.
She told HommeGirls: “Oh, it’s changed so much. It’s made me love myself more. I see my features in my daughter and my son now, but you know, my daughter looks like me. I get to see my beauty in her, and it’s made me love myself more for sure. Beauty is always changing for me.”
The Kylie Cosmetics founder – who shot to fame as a child herself when she and her now-world-famous family began appearing on ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ in 2007 – is thought to have become a billionaire through her successful makeup company but revealed that because she has “grown up” so much since launching the business venture as a teenager, she wants to try “new things” with her brand.
She said: “I’m working on my cosmetics line. I think my love in life, my passion, is makeup. That’s where it all started. It’s what keeps me going every day, being creative on Kylie Cosmetics. I started my brand when I was seventeen.
“I’ve grown so much, I have such a different vision for what I want it to be. I used to do a lot of limited-edition collections which are so fun, but my goal is to continue to elevate and extend the core line. This year and beyond we’re looking to do things we’ve never done before. You know, skin and eyes and mascara and all the essentials that you need. I’m just like, rebranding.”

Brie Larson reveals why she sticks to ‘very simple’ skincare routine

OHMYGOSSIP — Brie Larson keeps her skincare routine “very, very simple” to maintain a balance with her work life.
The 33-year-old actress – who has starred in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with upcoming roles in ‘The Marvels’ and ‘Fast X’ – admitted she has embraced a “lazy” beauty routine as she looks to keep things light.
Speaking in Vogue magazine’s ‘Beauty Secrets’ web series, she said: “While I’ve always had a skincare routine, it has changed over the years, of course, as I’ve gotten older.
“The main thing for me was once I started being on longer jobs where I am wearing [makeup longer]… it’s not just putting the makeup on; it’s the constant rubbing and touching up.”
That doens’t work well with her skin, so she prefers to keep things “simple” and take advantage of the more low key time away from film sets.
She added: “I think just mostly because I’m a little lazy, but the other part is because it allows my skin just a bit of recharge and breathing.”
Brie also reflected on her long hours as an actress – including a lot of early starts – and revealed her secret to avoiding bags under her eyes.
She said: “I’m always exhausted, so I will use [Decorté Liposome Advanced Repair Eye Serum] as a preventative.
“I don’t want people to know that I’m tired; I think people need to know I am doing the impossible with ease.”
When it comes to makeup, she keeps things typically natural with a light foundation containing SPF, plus blush and minimal eyebrow styling with almost nothing on her eyelashes.
She revealed: “Here’s a real curveball that you wouldn’t have expected. I got a lash lift, so it doesn’t really take that much mascara.”

Pamela Anderson signs with The Society Management for fashion ventures

OHMYGOSSIP — Pamela Anderson has signed with The Society Management to help grow in the fashion world.
The ‘Baywatch’ legend is teaming up with the talent management company – which is the US division of Elite Model Management – to handle her fashion ventures and they are excited to work with her.
In a statement to WWD, the agency said: “The Society Management is honored to welcome Pam Anderson to our roster.
“Pam is a viral industry icon and has resonated across generations and audiences globally with her iconic roles over the years, recent documentary and New York Times best seller.
“We are thrilled to join Pam’s team and build upon her presence in the fashion industry and new business ventures as she continues to add to her legendary career.”
The 55-year-old former Playboy cover girl recently opened the Hugo Boss spring 2023 show in Miami, Florida.
Last month, Pam hit the runway in a light beige ensemble, consisting of baggy pants, a sheer v-neck and a matching blazer whilst sporting a toned down version of her iconic black smokey eyes nude lips and slicked back hair.
She looked unrecognisable in the business chic attire as she embraced her stripped back look, which is a far cry from her signature get up and big blonde hair.
The star previously revealed that she used to suffer with “debilitating” shyness before her glamour modelling for Playboy and lacked self-confidence as she didn’t think she was pretty.
Talking to ET Canada, she said: “I became painfully shy, and the shyness was something that was so debilitating. When I was little, I would wear a hat over my head and pull the hole closed, so I could only see out this much.
“I hated the way I looked, I hated everything. I was so shy, and I always thought everybody was pretty, and I just didn’t have that confidence or self-confidence.
“I was in Vancouver and Playboy approached me a few times and I said no. Finally, I was in a situation and thought, ‘Why not? Let me try this.’ Then I got to L.A. and I was horrified.
“Then I did my first photo shoot with Playboy… it was the first flash when I opened my eyes and it felt like I was falling off a cliff.
“It really felt like I was just… allowing, instead of trying to control. And it was my first feeling of freedom, then I was off to the races!”
