Serena Williams uses breastmilk for unexpected skin treatment

OHMYGOSSIP — Serena Williams used breastmilk to treat her sunburn.
The 42-year-old tennis icon – who welcomed her second daughter Adira River into the world in August – has been using her leftover breastmilk as part of her skincare routine after suffering in the heat.
In a recent TikTok video, she said: “I completely got burned under my eye.
“I was doing retinol and I have sensitive skin, I was in the sun….long story.”
Serena – who also has daughter Olympia, six, with her husband and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian – grabbed a bottle, shook it and started to apply the liquid under her eyes using a tissue.
She added: “It works for my kid. They say put breastmilk on everything and I have a lot extra, so I’m gonna try it for a week and see how it goes.”
The sports legend revealed the beauty technique actually worked, and she noticed improvements after a few days.
She wrote in the caption to the video: “I have to say, after a week of using my breastmilk under my eye, it worked!”
While there are undoubted perks to using breastmilk as a treatment, anyone looking to do the same should take note.
Dr. Sherry Ross – a medical professional specialising in obstetrics and gynecology – recently told E! News: “Breast milk is rich in nutrients, vitamins and protective anti-bacterial and inflammatory properties.
“Variables that affect breast milk composition include the health and diet of the person making it, storage and proper hygienic practices.”
Meanwhile, Serena recently revealed her eldest daughter Olympia has “always” been a fashionista.
She told Extra: “Since she was a kid, she knew what she wanted to wear… When she was like two, she would say, ‘I want this, I want that.’
“She always knew what she wanted.”

‘It means my wardrobe has become more neutral’:Ashley Park reveals how her style changed due to hectic schedule

OHMYGOSSIP — Ashley Park has adopted a more “neutral” style.
The ‘Emily in Paris’ star’s hectic work and travel schedule means she’s had to put together a capsule collection of “eight different things” that she can re-wear in different ways.
Speaking to ELLE UK, she said: “In the past two weeks, I’ve been in four different continents and five different time zones and definitely at least three seasons.
“It means my wardrobe has become more neutral. I love that you can really just have like eight different things and make so many different outfits.”
Emily, 32, chooses an ensemble based on what she’s trying to say to those around her.
She explained: “I try to understand what I want to say in this exact moment to these exact people at this exact time.”
Ashley asks herself: “What are the logistics? Do I have to be in this for a photoshoot? Or am I in this for an entire night?”
Many young women are influenced by her style and that of her alter ego Mindy Chen in the hit Netflix series, so she likes to make sure she wears pieces by and works with “sustainable companies”.
She said: “Anytime anybody wants to emulate you in any way or is inspired by you, it’s just really humbling and hard for me to personally wrap my head around.”
Ashley – a global ambassador for jewellery brand Pandora – added: “That’s why I think I hold on to the responsibility of making sure that I work with sustainable companies like Pandora.
“I have this naivety and this excitement to make things my own as much as they can be. Because I don’t have a role model, in a sense, and I’m learning as I go. So I’m learning still! It’s wild to me to be the global ambassador of anything.”

Cher on ageing naturally: ‘You’d see men when they’re craggy-faced, but not women!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Cher thinks women in the public eye can finally “get older” naturally without losing their value.
The 77-year-old pop icon claimed that while famous men were able to age naturally in front of the camera, the same couldn’t be said for women and that it “helped” their career if they were better-looking but is pleased to conclude that is not the case these days.
She told OK! Magazine: “With men, it doesn’t seem to matter nearly as much as it does for women. You see men in films and they’re craggy-faced and they’re old, but no one seems to mind it, but you didn’t see women like that.
“But now women are able to get older and still be relevant. You just had this sell-by date – it really didn’t matter what kind of person you were. I mean, it helped if you looked better, but women lost their value starting at a certain age, which is kind of bull****!”
Earlier this year, the ‘Believe’ hitmaker – who is currently dating music executive Alexander Edwards, 37, – was asked what the secret is to her youthful complexion and admitted that she has no idea other than that she has a cheery disposition.
She told ExtraTV: “I don’t know, I mean, I’m just happy! I kind of just [wake up like this], yeah!”
Towards the end of last year, the ‘Believe’ songstress – who was initially married to Sonny Bono from 1964 until 1975 and has 54-year-old son Chaz with him whilst she also has P. Exeter Blue, 46, with second husband Gregg Allman – explained that even though her current relationship might seem “kind of ridiculous” because of the 40-year age gap, it still works in “real life” because of how well they get along and noted that older men didn’t seem to be too keen on her.
She said: “On paper it’s kind of ridiculous but in real life we get along great. He’s fabulous, and I don’t give men qualities that they don’t deserve. But he’s very kind, he’s very smart. He’s very talented and he’s really funny so, and I think he’s quite handsome.

Mandy Moore was too self-conscious to dye her hair and wear ‘crazy makeup’

OHMYGOSSIP — Mandy Moore wishes she had been less “self-conscious” and had more “fun” with her appearance when she was younger.
The 39-year-old actress-and-singer – who shot to fame in the late 90s with her hit ‘Candy’ – would have loved to have dyed her hair bright pink and donned “crazy makeup” if she had had the confidence to.
She told Byrdie: “Trying to navigate being young and being in the public eye was hard. I wish I’d had a little more fun and hadn’t been so self-conscious. I feel like this generation is way better at that. It would have been so fun to have pink hair or crazy makeup [laughs]. Social media has allowed young people to see themselves and the world around them and feel like their voice matters. They’re permitting themselves to have more fun, and I wish I had done that as a young person.”
Elsewhere, the ‘This Is Us’ star spoke about her eczema battle and how her skin looks and feels its best when she keeps her beauty routine to a minimum.
Sharing the skincare products that work for her, she explained: “I tried so many different lotions, and I realised when I pared things back, my skin felt and looked the best. My skin constantly fluctuates, but I use CeraVe’s Hydrating Facial Cleanser ($16). I also carry around Aquaphor Healing Ointment ($6), which tends to help a lot. Sometimes, I’ll use raw coconut oil, let that soak in, and then top it off with the Aquaphor to lock in moisture. For SPF, I’m a Supergoop fan. I also try not to wear a lot of makeup.”
Mandy insists that you don’t have to splash out on high-end products to achieve a flawless look.
She added: What’s been the most helpful is being discerning about what I use, how much I use, and not stressing out about it. Product-wise, it’s not like you have to get anything fancy. There are plenty of options that are non-comedogenic and don’t have a tonne of fragrance. Keeping my routine simple and using products with limited ingredients works best for me.”

David Gandy’s ‘lonely’ life as a model

OHMYGOSSIP — David Gandy says modelling is a “lonely job”.
The 43-year-old catwalk star has spent years working for top brands including Dolce and Gabbana, Hugo Boss and Carolina Herrera, and featured in magazines across the world, but he’s admitted life as a model can be incredibly isolating because he ends up spending so much time on his own.
He told the The Times magazine: “Being in the fashion world is a lonely job. You’re travelling so much on your own. My partner thought I was mad when we first started dating. She’d say: ‘What did you do last night?’ I’d say: ‘I had dinner on my own, then I was in another country and went to the spa on my own.’ She couldn’t believe it.”
David went on to reveal another big drawback of working in fashion is the jetlag from long-haul travel, but he is convinced it has prepared him for life as a dad.
He added: “I’ve been jetlagged for 20 years. It put me in good stead for having children. My wife did the early mornings. I always did the nights. I’d say, ‘Go to bed, get a good night’s sleep. I’m used to this’.
“I was like the dog. My wife would find me either asleep on the floor, in the children’s beds or on the landing.”
David revealed the secret to staying in shape, confessing he never eats breakfast but he loads up on pasta later in the day to meet his calorie requirements because he need to consume 3,500 to 4,000 calories a day.
He also explained his go-to style is as simple as possible – especially when it comes to choosing T-shirts. He added: “I have a thing about logo T-shirts on grown men. Over the age of 15, just go for a plain T-shirt. I’ve got a very old school style. George Clooney does it very well. He just looks good. That to me, is style. When men ask: ‘What’s on trend?’ I always say: ‘I have no idea, but I’lll tell you what looks good.”

Cat Deeley swears by £10 mascara and celery juice for breakfast

OHMYGOSSIP — Cat Deeley’s top beauty tips include a £10 mascara and celery juice for breakfast.
The 47-year-old TV presenter has opened up about her diet and beauty routine revealing she starts her day with a glass of celery juice with ginger and cucumber, tries to stick to a Mediterranean-style diet and avoids processed foods as much as she can.
She told the Daily Mail newspaper: “When it comes to food I think you can’t go wrong with the Mediterranean diet, and the more you can stay away from processed food the better – anything that can exist for a year without going off can’t be good for you … I don’t really have breakfast – just a celery juice with ginger and cucumber and then a cup of coffee at around 10am.”
Cat also revealed her favourite beauty products include a high street mascara by L’Oreal and she uses Kerastase shampoo and conditioner to keep her hair looking healthy.
She added to the outlet: “I love L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Mascara – it outperforms all the posher ones.”
The TV star also revealed she tries to avoid wearing too much make-up because she worries it can be ageing, but she does love lip liners by Charlotte Tilbury and Yves Saint Laurent’s Touche Eclat highlighter pen.
Instead of coating her lips in gloss, Cat swaps it for something more nourishing by using Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream instead.
She also explained her eyebrows have been left looking thin and sad after over-plucking them during her younger years so she has a new treatment to make them look fuller.
Cat added: “During the 1990s I plucked my brows into oblivion, so now I get them laminated. It’s like the reverse of a perm – they are made straighter so that they end up looking fuller and fluffier. I need to make the most of the three hairs I have left.”

Kaia Gerber has adopted mum Cindy Crawford’s ‘classic style’

OHMYGOSSIP — Kaia Gerber has adopted her mum Cindy Crawford’s “classic style”.
The 22-year-old model/actress has opened up about her fashion choices and revealed her supermodel mum Cindy is her biggest inspiration because she’s been stealing clothes from her wardrobe for years.
She told Elle magazine: “My mum has always had very classic style. And I’ve always snuck into her closet and stolen her clothes. She has a less is more attitude to hair and make-up which I inherited from her; I would say that neither of us is maximalist at all.”
However, Kaia also aspires to embrace the “cool French girls” aesthetic. She added: “Mostly, I look to the cool French girls to know what to wear and what works.
“‘I love the style of Jane Birkin and Francoise Hardy. My mantra is if it’s comfortable and you feel good in it, then wear it. I think dressing for yourself is truly the only important thing about anything you wear.”
Kaia previously revealed which of her famous mum’s iconic looks she would choose to recreate and she admitted she would like to do a “new version” of the famous white vest and jeans combination seen in Cindy’s 1992 Pepsi commercial.
She told People: “There’s so many that I love and that I think are so iconic. The red Oscars dress I’ve always thought was just so beautiful. But it’s like some things are just so good you don’t even want to touch them. And I think some of those moments I’m just like, ‘Leave them there,’ you know? I definitely think the Pepsi thing would be fun But if they’re going to do her – it has to be the iconic commercial, but a new version of that.”

Megan Fox ‘had a weird relationship with fashion’ during her rise to fame

OHMYGOSSIP — Megan Fox “had a weird relationship with fashion” amid her rise to fame.
The ‘Transformers’ star – who got her big break in Michael Bay’s 00s action series – admitted to going out of her way “rejecting” the image being foisted upon her so she dressed down to maintain her old identity.
The 37-year-old actress told WWD: “For so long, I was rejecting being famous and rejecting whatever this image was that was sort of hung on me, this person I was supposed to be.
“For a long time, I ran from fashion and lived in nothing but sweatpants or workout clothes and never wanted to express myself.”
The brunette beauty reflected she was “really suffering with that existential question of, ‘well, who am I?’”
But the ‘Pretty Boys Are Poisonous’ writer – who is engaged to rapper Machine Gun Kelly – is now “learning to use” clothes to express herself.
Megan said: “Especially right now, I’m going through all these different phases of like, ‘what do I like and what can I wear that expresses how I’m feeling or what do I want or what I want to say in this moment?’ I’m learning to use fashion in a way that reflects who I am now.”
The ‘Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen’ star recently shared how “important” it is teach her sons Noah, 11, Bodhi, nine, and seven-year-old Journey – who she has with her ex-husband Brian Austin Green, 50 – to posses “a very deep emotional intimacy” compared to other men she’s been with.
Megan told the same outlet: “I think because I have sons, it’s very important to me to raise boys who are not like these men that I’ve been with. It’s very important for me to raise boys who are able to have a very deep emotional intimacy with their partner.”

Luke Evans is ‘in a festive mood’ with Christmas knitwear

OHMYGOSSIP — Luke Evans says Save The Children’s secondhand Christmas jumper line “really got” him “in a festive mood”.
The ‘Dracula Untold’ star thinks it is “amazing” to be the face of the pre-loved knitwear collection – which is supplied by vintage chain Beyond Retro and will raise money this festive period to help make child poverty a thing of the past.
The winter woolies – which are each named after an individual child supported by the Save the Children andfeature their story on its label – can be purchased at the brick-and-mortar store Story Knits in London in the lead-up to Christmas Jumper Day on 7 December for one week.
The 44-year-old actor – who has been a Save The Children ambassador for seven years – said: “Walking into Story Knits really got me in the festive mood and gave me a totally unique jumper to see me through winter.
“Story Knits doesn’t just give you the opportunity to pick up a trendy knit without compromising the planet, it brings you closer to the incredible work of Save the Children and the young people they’re helping around the world, including in the UK.
“I chose to wear the ‘Simon’ jumper when I visited the store as his story really stood out to me. When conflict at home separated the 13-year-old from his family, Save the Children helped to reunite them so they could enjoy a safer future together. Amazing!”
The charity – which is raising awareness of the added impact of the climate crisis in locations such as the Solomon Islands to children’s socioeconomic well-being – enthused about all the “fun and fabulous” knitwear people don at this time of year while calling their new shop “a powerful experience” which will showcase 91 children’s stories, the amount of little one’s they help every minute.
The organisation’s CEO, Gareth Owen MBE, said: “Every year we love seeing the fun and fabulous knits people wear and how they bring friends, families, schools and workplaces together.
“We are really excited to be opening Story Knits to take this year’s fundraiser one step further and drive home why putting on a festive jumper and taking part is so important. The store is a powerful experience and hopefully gives wearers a more meaningful and memorable connection to the cause too.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jenna Ortega doesn’t “wear too much” make-up when she’s not working.
The ‘Wednesday’ star loves to opt for a more natural “lived-in” look when she’s not on a set or a red carpet and loves a “smudgy liner” as her go-to.
The 21-year-old actress told Harper’s Bizarre in a video titled ‘Inside My Beauty Bag’: “I don’t wear too much outside of work. “But it’s also kind of therapeutic for me; I’ll always have some kind of smudgy liner or something that looks lived-in.”
Jenna admitted that she no longer feels “insecure” about her signature freckles and used to cover them up.
She said“I remember I was insecure about them when I was younger.”
The ‘X’ star praised the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant – which was recommended to her by her on-set make-up artist – for helping her soothe the outcome of her skin “picking probem”, an anxiety tic.
Jenna said: “I was first introduced to this by my hair and make-up artist on ‘Wednesday’ and ‘Beetlejuice’. We always started off our day with this.
“I used to have a bit of a picking problem and I feel like that’s really helped.”
She admitted to having “really, bad anxiety” that can often ruin her life and attributes her mother telling her to take ZuvaLabs Saffron Extract as massive help.
She said: “I have really, really bad anxiety and it feels like it can be debilitating at times,” before adding the supplement helps her “a little bit mindful or relaxed”.
The brunette beauty found “trying” journaling to be more mindful in herself has been a great help despite being a bit of a challenge at the beginning.
Jenna said: “I’ve been trying to practice mindfulness. I feel like this helps.
“I put a lot of pressure on myself; I felt like things had to be more interesting or had to be more creative and artistic, and fortunately, that’s what that’s become accidentally. But only because I allowed myself to fully release and enjoy what I’m writing.”

Elle Macpherson refusing to focus on ageing

OHMYGOSSIP — Elle Macpherson is not focusing on ageing.
The supermodel – dubbed ‘The Body’ by Time in 1989 – is set to turn 60 in March and says she feels “incredible” as she approaches the landmark, thanks partly to quitting drinking 20 years ago.
She told Body and Soul about maturing: “I feel incredible. I think that’s the most important thing.
“You say I look incredible but I feel that way. I just love that sense of vitality and I’m grateful for my life, I’m grateful for my journey and I am loving turning 60.”
Since leaving the catwalk behind, Elle has founded WelleCo, the rapidly growing global supplement brand that sprang from her own experiences of feeling less than her best.
She approached 50 sleep-deprived, unmotivated, sugar-addicted, surviving on coffee and suffering from weight gain, bad skin and low libido.
Elle – who was part of the group of 1990s supermodels branded ‘The Magnificent Seven’ by the New York Times in 1996 – added about feeling back to her best thanks to focusing on her wellness: “I don’t focus on ageing. I think it’s more important to focus on the quality of the life that you’re living and how you’re living life to the fullest.
“They always say it’s not the years in your life it’s the life in your years. That’s what I like to help people with, which is how they can live their life to their fullest.
“My mum is still beautiful and active and vibrant and it’s true she didn’t have as much information on how to look after herself as we do today.
“But I would say magazines like yours are giving women a voice.
“They’re also giving them the tools to understand how to nurture themselves.
“I used to equate beauty with youth and as I’ve matured and as my experience has evolved, I’ve understood that beauty is more closely aligned to wellness.
“The second part of that concept is that wellness is physical, emotional, spiritual and mental wellbeing and that they’re all integrated. That was the biggest revelation – that you can’t compartmentalise them and they’re not separate.
“If anything is out of kilter it affects the others, so the secret to a happy, healthy life is really keeping in balance with all those aspects. It took me a long time to get that.
“WelleCo is a perfect example of having a vehicle where I can communicate that but there’s also speaking engagements and Instagram lives and interviews and sharing my personal experience.”

Jodie Foster has ‘lost interest’ in wearing corsets and high heels

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Foster has “lost interest” in wearing corsets and high heels.
The ‘Silence of the Lambs’ actress, 61, who has been an actress since the age of three, added she also hates sitting in make-up chairs on movie sets talking about her hair and eyebrows.
She told Interview magazine: “I like how easy it is to find a character when there’s some-thing completely different about the person. I don’t love sitting in a makeup chair and talking about my eyebrows or anything. That, I can live without.
“My last two shows have been fun though, because I’ve played characters in really comfortable outfits.
“I’ve lost interest in the days of corsets and high heels. The last time I did a corset, it was in Malaysia and it was a hundred degrees every day.
“I had to wear leather shoes, a wig, a corset, two petticoats, a skirt on top of that, gloves, a whole outfit. I was just like, ‘That’s it. I’m done.’”
By the age 14 Jodie had played a child sex worker alongside Robert De Niro in ‘Taxi Driver’, and her latest two roles see her playing a training coach opposite Annette Bening’s ocean swimmer Diana Nyad in the biopic ‘Nyad’, as well as a homicide detective on the hunt for an Alaskan serial killer in the fourth season of HBO’s ‘True Detective’.
She also told Interview she now prefers relaxing into roles as she ages, saying:
“To tell you the truth, especially now that I work with a lot of younger actors, I see the beauty of having 10,000 hours, and that confidence where you don’t expend energy needlessly.
“It’s more about being in the moment. If you know the character enough, stuff will happen. So much of that is trusting the physical part of what you bring to the table. I like how quickly the physicality brings you to the place, and then you don’t have to do much work after that.”

Deva Cassell has been ‘inspired’ by fashion since she was a child

OHMYGOSSIP — Deva Cassell says “the world of fashion has inspired” her since childhood.
‘The Beautiful Summer’ star – who is the daughter of screen siren Monica Belluci, 59, and actor Vincent Cassell. 57, along with her 14-year-old sister Leonie – believes “visionary” trends can piece together “a narrative of humanity history” through self-expression
The 19-year-old actress told Numero magazine: “The world of fashion has inspired me since I was a little girl, because I always felt it was important to externalize one’s ideas. Through fashion, which was often visionary, you can construct a narrative of human history.”
Deva, whose parents divorced in 2013 after 14 years of marriage, also enthused that Dior’s creative director, Maria Grazia Chirui means a lot to her because of how she “mixes influences” from her Italian and French backgrounds.
The fashion house’s brand ambassador said: “I have enormous respect for Dior and for the brand’s unique heritage. Maria Grazia Chiuri mixes influences from both France and Italy, and all of that speaks to me because I belong to both cultures.”
Deva urged people to “wake up” to the current environmental disasters unfolding in the ocean and beyond amid the looming climate crisis.
She added: “Something that really worries my generation is the future of the planet’s marine ecosystems. Everyone knows that human activity is behind ocean pollution and that the plastic swallowed by fish eventually ends up on our plates. Recent studies have found microplastics inside the human body. We need to wake up to the impact we’re having on the planet, and fast, because the way we live our everyday lives affects the future of our world.”
The brunette also expressed her frustration about having to “fight so hard” against gender-based violence and sexist discrimination.
Deva said: “The fight against violence towards women and children. It’s a subject I feel very strongly about. It’s completely anachronistic that today we still have to fight so hard for basic, elementary rights.”

Shein ‘lines up US stock market flotation that could be worth nearly $90 billion!’

OHMYGOSSIP — Shein has reportedly lodged confidential paperwork with securities regulators informing them of its intention to go public in the US with a listing that could be worth nearly $90 billion.
The Chinese fast fashion titan, which counts ‘I’m A Celebrity’ star Georgia Toffolo, 29, among its fans, offers tops and dresses from $6 and has become a staple for many young women.
It is said to have filed papers for an initial public offering (IPO), with Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase and Morgan Stanley reportedly hired as lead underwriters, according to unnamed sources cited by the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times and The New York Times.
Shein was founded in China in 2012 but is based in Singapore and has faced criticism over its treatment of workers in the country.
The listing would likely be the largest IPO in years as Shein is one of the global leaders of fast fashion e-commerce due to its a network of small-shipment manufacturers in China and a massive online advertising presence.
News of the apparent filing plans follows reports and rumours from last year the company intended to go public in the US in 2024.
Founded in China by entrepreneur Chris Xu, it is headquartered in Singapore.
Within a decade it reached a valuation of $100 billion at an April 2022 fundraising round, making it the third most valuable start-up in the world.
By May this year the company’s value had dropped to a little more than $60 billion but if it goes ahead with the IPO it is still expected to become the most valuable China-founded company to go public in the US since ride-hailing giant Didi Global’s debut in 2021 at $68 billion valuation.
Shein has expanded manufacturing into Brazil and Turkey, but has been slammed for allegedly poor working conditions in factories, as well as alleged copyright infringement on independent artists’ designs – all of which it has denied.
It has also faced criticism of fast fashion’s impact on the environment.

Gucci workers mount historic strike in protest against relocation of design studio

OHMYGOSSIP — Scores of Gucci employees have mounted a historic strike in protest against plans to relocate a huge part of its design studio team from Rome to Milan.
Around 50 workers at the luxury fashion empire who have walked out in Italy have branded the move as “mass redundancy in disguise”, with their action the first downing of tools by creative professionals in the fashion giant’s 102-year history.
Protesters outside the Rome offices have been holding up banners with the message: “Gucci cuts but doesn’t sew” – and “At Gucci, redundancy is fashionable.”
Federica Ricci, regional secretary at the Filctem-Cgil union in the Lazio region, told The Guardian: “For us, this is a collective dismissal because not everyone has been offered the conditions to allow for a transfer, so many people will lose their jobs.”
Owned by the French-based luxury goods group Kering, it was announced in October Gucci would be moving 153 of its 219 design employees from the Italian capital to Milan, 380 miles away in Lombardy.
Employees staged a four-hour strike on Monday (27.11.23) , with union representative Chiara Giannotti saying the design office in Rome is the heart of Gucci, where designers and couturiers work and where all collections are born.
She claimed Kering was taking advantage of the restructuring to reduce staff numbers and push out employees who had been offered unsatisfactory conditions or could not leave Rome because of family obligations.
Not all employees were in a position to move to another city within a few months – especially those with children or single parents, and risked being left without alternatives.
The unions have demanded that the company reconsider its decision, arguing the fate of the 66 other employees who are expected to remain in Rome is also uncertain.
Gucci said the relocation did “not envisage any reduction in personnel” and would be “implemented in full compliance with current regulations”.
The company added that it had also provided economic and support measures for affected staff.
