Dame Joanna Lumley cannot understand the ‘obsession’ of showing off expensive fashion

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Joanna Lumley struggles to understand the current “obsession” with expensive fashions.
The 77-year-old actress started her career as a model in the 1960s before landing the role of glamorous spy Purdy in ‘The New Avengers’ and explained that she still wants to live in those days because the idea of using fashion to show off wealth is “alien” to her.
She told the Radio Times: “When I came to London in the Swinging Sixties, money was considered very vulgar. You never talked about it!
“If anybody did have money, they’d quietly pay for things. If you didn’t, you’d hold your head high, be entertaining and look good.
“The [current] obsession with money and rich lists – showing how much you’ve spent on things by having Chanel written on your clothes – is alien to me. I still have Sixties dreams in my head.”
Meanwhile, Joanna – who is best known for starring as boozy fashion editor Patsy Stone in the classic BBC sitcom ‘Absolutely Fabulous – recently revealed that when it comes to doing her makeup, she just has a “rough” approach to it all and often finds that she has put “too much” on to begin with, although she is always keen to try new oils and other remedies for her skin.
She told Yours Magazine: “I tend to put on too much makeup! I lash it on, mainly because I can’t see what I am doing! I just think ‘Eyebrows go roughly here, put more mouth on!’ So, if I look a bit overdone that’s why! “Whatever it is, I have a go.
“But I’m a great believer in oils of all kinds; there’s almost no oil I won’t put on my skin!”

Shay Mitchell’s kids inspired her travel collection

OHMYGOSSIP — Shay Mitchell’s travel collection was inspired by her children.
The 36-year-old actress – who has daughters Atlas, four, and Rome, 20 months, with partner Matte Babel – launched her BEIS Kids travel collection last year, and Shay admits that her children influenced the designs.
She told E! News: “When I would be packing for a trip, there were different things that, obviously, my daughter would gravitate towards.
“She wanted different colours. She wanted a smaller size, so it was more appropriate for her to carry.
“Over time, I was like, ‘Yeah, that makes sense. We should have rollers that are specific to kids that have certain features that they like.’ For example, we have a little whistle that’s on our backpacks. She definitely likes that a little too much at home. She’s just walking around blowing the whistle!”
Shay previously revealed that she launched BEIS Kids because she saw a “huge gap in the market”.
Speaking about her brand, the actress told ELLE: “I’ve always known that there was an entrepreneurial side to me, and I always wanted to get into business, but I had never been to school.
“I’ve had experiences with luggage where wheels would fall off and I’d get angry at myself for not spending more money to get a better bag.
“When I knew it was time to start my own company, I noticed there was a huge gap in the market: you either had super expensive companies with crazy bags that weren’t even functional, and on the other side of the spectrum, you had affordable bags that were ugly and not well-made.
“Basically, I wanted a line of affordable bags that had all the function I could dream up and look really good at the same time.”

Elle Macpherson ‘hit a wall’ when she turned 50

OHMYGOSSIP — Elle Macpherson changed her wellness routine when she turned 50.
The 59-year-old model feels she “hit a wall” when she reached her landmark birthday, acknowledging that she “couldn’t just rely on genetics” any longer.
During an appearance on the ‘Amanda Wakeley: StyleDNA’ podcast, Elle shared: “Everything that I was doing, I sort of learned how to do, wasn’t working anymore. I realised I couldn’t just rely on genetics.”
Elle ultimately developed an entirely new wellness routine in a bid to take better care of herself.
The model – who was nicknamed ‘The Body’ in the 1980s – made a concerted effort to avoid caffeine and she adopted a new fitness plan, too.
Elle – who will turn 60 on March 29 – added: “I go to bed with a smile. I go to bed with a happy heart. And a night mask. And no clothes. My skin.”
Elle previously admitted that she’s made a concerted effort to improve her overall health and wellbeing in recent years.
The runway star – who has also enjoyed success as an actress – told Red magazine: “By the time you reach 50, you realise it’s all about caring for your body and your levels of vitality, so you can do the things you want to do.
“I’ve tried all sorts of workouts and diets, but now a lot of the things I did in my 30s and 40s no longer work for me.
“I used to think I was healthy because I could survive on three hours sleep and snack on coffee … In people’s eyes, I suspect I still looked great, but I didn’t feel great. That was demoralising.
“I didn’t have a sense of vitality. I felt unlike myself, sort of … fragmented.”

Meg Bellamy loves ‘freeing’ new bob

OHMYGOSSIP — Meg Bellamy finds her new haircut “freeing”.
The 21-year-old actress wasn’t allowed to cut her locks while playing Kate Middleton – the future Catherine, Princess of Wales – in ‘The Crown’ – but she recently changed her style into a shorter bob and she’s thrilled with the change.
She told Elle.com: “I hadn’t been allowed to cut my hair for so long because of the show. I just wanted like a bit of a change. I had a photographer in Paris who had this beautiful French bob and I was like, I want that.
“Luckily my hairstylist Chad Maxwell, he cut it for me and he’s so amazing at making anything look fab. I love it. It’s very freeing having a bob.”
But Meg enjoyed being able to bring out her natural wave more when she was filming ‘The Crown’.
She said: “I loved playing my natural hair texture. I always thought I just had very straight hair and on the show, we pulled out more of its wavy texture.
“It was really exciting just to see what elements of myself we could bring out and elevate to make them look more like Kate.”
Despite regularly being compared to the princess, Meg insisted she doesn’t set out to dress like Catherine.
She said: “‘Even after the show, we will pick out a look that has absolutely nothing to do with Kate for no other reason other than we just like the look.
“Even if it’s not inspired by her necessarily, I’ll still read an article the next day that’s like, ‘Meg honours Kate’s 2017 gown…’ but, you know, she’s been in the public eye for a long time. It’s pretty likely that she will have worn a lot of things.
“t is interesting and I’m not trying to be her when I’m not playing her.
“The separation I think is important but I guess, understandable that people only see me as her because I’ve not done anything else yet.”

Colman Domingo wants to ‘look like a big flirt’

OHMYGOSSIP — Colman Domingo wants to “look like a big flirt”.
The ‘Rustin’ actor is proud that he’s been winning praise for his red carpet looks because he has always gone for the same sort of “understated”, well-cut outfits that make him feel “sexy and playful”.
Asked how it feels to be the unofficial best-dressed man in Hollywood, he told America’s Vanity Fair magazine: “That is the coolest thing. It’s funny, because I think I’ve always understood my own style. Working with my stylists, Wayman and Micah, we’ve always crafted story.
“No matter how I was dressing—because I’m always dressing—people are noticing it more now. I usually thought that people went for the noisier, louder [outfits], wearing bells and whistles and everything.
“I’m a bit more understated—masculine cuts, tailoring. I love classic things that reference, like, Teddy Pendergrass.
“I love 1970s Italian cuts because I’m tall and lean. I have nice long legs. I like high-waisted [pants].
“I like to feel sexy and playful. I like to look like a big flirt at all times. I flirt all day long.”
The 54-year-old actor used to be “insecure about everything” but he has grown to embrace the things he disliked about himself and thinks that has made him “more beautiful”.
He said: “I was insecure about everything—I don’t think even about being queer. I was insecure about being tall, my nose, my body—I was very skinny. At some point you make agreements and you’re like, Well, this is mine. I guess if I don’t love it, nobody else will.
“And so I started to take steps to love it and understand what I’m working with. And I think that that’s where you find all that inner light and inner beauty. And then I think you become, I guess, more beautiful.”

Fashion legend Narciso Rodriguez, 63, explains why he feels ‘too young’ to retire from the industry

OHMYGOSSIP — Narciso Rodriguez feels “too young” to retire from the fashion industry.
The 63-year-old designer came to worldwide attention when he designed the wedding dress for Carolyn Bessette for her wedding to John F. Kennedy Jr in 1996 and founded his first clothing label the following year but took a break from the industry around 2017 and is now making a comeback after moving into a new studio in New York.
He told Town and Country magazine: “I feel like I’m at the beginning of my career again. The craft, I realized, is so embedded in me. I can’t stop working. I’m too young. I want to start making clothes again.”
Narciso had made a name for himself creating looks for the runway, but this time round wants to make sure that he is identifying and eliminating repetitive and unnecessary steps or activities and hinted that he is happy to work in a partnership.
He said: “I need [the business] to be streamlined. Whether it’s five dresses that I make for my own pleasure, or I produce them, that’s yet to be seen.”
Over the years, Narciso – who is also well-known for his multi-million-selling fragrance line For Her – has dressed the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Rachel Weisz, Claire Danes, Julianna Margulies, and Michelle Obama, whom he labelled as “strong, confident” women.
But he insisted that the late Carolyn – who died in a plane crash along with her husband aged just 33 in 1999 – is “always with him” and that he can always feel her presence.
He said: “They’re strong. They’re confident. They’re self-possessed. Certainly, Carolyn is ever present over my shoulder.”

‘I’m so fascinated to hear what’s going on’: Vittoria Ceretti ‘obsessed’ with the dentist

OHMYGOSSIP — Vittoria Ceretti has an “obsession” with the dentist.
The 25-year-old model “loves” getting her teeth checked and would love to enter the profession, though she acknowledged her interest is “freaky” and “weird”.
She told America’s ELLE magazine: “I don’t think I’ve ever told anyone this in an interview, but I have this obsession.
“[I want to be a dentist] which is completely, fully random, but for some reason it’s something that fascinates me so much. I love going to the dentist. It’s freaky. It’s weird, but I love it.
“It’s not like I enjoy going to the dentist, like, ‘Oh my God, I’m going to sit in the chair for three hours!’
“But I’m so fascinated to hear what’s going on. I wish I could watch it when other people go to the dentist.”
Vittoria – who is dating Leonardo DiCaprio – got her big break when she entered the Elite Model Look competition as a joke when she was just 14years old, and she was amazed to win.
She said: “I didn’t even know what modelling was like; I had no clue. It’s not something that I was fascinated by or interested in. It was not my dream.
“[At the contest] there were all these tall, gorgeous girls, and my mom and I were in line. We were like, ‘Maybe we should just leave, because this is never going to work.’ Then my [now] agent [Elena Mansueto, of Elite] ended up walking up to us to make sure that we weren’t going to leave.”
The catwalk beauty thinks her lack of fashion ambition has only made her career even more “special”.
She said: “It’s funny because it’s been an adventure ever since, and an amazing adventure.
“I can’t believe I took it as a joke, but I think that’s also what made it so special, that I never took it seriously at first.”

Beyoncé opens up on ‘deeply personal journey’ with her hair as she discusses psoriasis treatment

OHMYGOSSIP — Beyoncé has had a “deeply personal journey” with her hair.
The 42-year-old superstar explained that she associates a number of “beautiful memories” associated with her curly tresses, whether that be spending time in her mother Tina’s salon or whether it was her father helping treat her from the autoimmune condition she has suffered from since childhood.
She told Essence magazine: “I have many beautiful memories attached to my hair. The relationship we have with our hair is such a deeply personal journey. From spending my childhood in my mother’s salon to my father applying oil on my scalp to treat my psoriasis— these moments have been sacred to me.
The conversations and debates in the salons and barbershops create a sense of community for the people who look to it as a retreat from their everyday lives. For them, it’s a place to feel beautiful and vent, laugh, share secrets and pass down wisdom. It’s the most consistent community gathering we have. It’s so important that it’s a sanctuary.”
The ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ hitmaker explained that she has often associated key moments in her life with how she was wearing her hair at that particular time and remembered opting for a short pixie style in 2013 in what she called a ” very big emotional” change for her.
She said: “.I love how we associate a certain hairstyle with moments in our lives, like that short-hair moment. I remember the day I decided to just cut all my hair off. I didn’t have a particular style in mind. It wasn’t an aesthetic choice, but it was a very big emotional transformation and metamorphosis that I was going through. So much of my identity as a performer has been connected to flowing hair. ”

Pamela Anderson explains how she is using makeup as part of her ‘self-acceptance’ journey

OHMYGOSSIP — Pamela Anderson thinks of makeup as a “form of self-expression”.
The 56-year-old actress has teamed up with cruelty-free cosmetics company Smashbox for their latest campaign and has decided that while she “loves” getting glammed up, thinks that people need to remember who they truly are underneath everything.
She told Glamour US: “Doing Smashbox was fun for me because it was kind of a wink to the past. Let’s just do something fun, like a link to the past, to the ’90s, kind of when both of us kind of came alive and grew next to each other.
“It’s not taking myself so seriously. There’s obviously this campaign, and with my own skin care line — I’m really embracing self-acceptance. Makeup is a form of self-expression, and I love it all. But I think we need to remember who we are underneath it all.”
The former ‘Home Improvement’ star – who shot to fame as a model and then became internationally recogisbale when she was cast as CJ Parker on ‘Baywatch’ with her iconic red swimsuit – explained that she has often been asked to discuss her looks from yesteryear but often thought of them as “uncool” and has only now realised that everything makes a comeback eventually.
She said: “This was something that people have been asking me to do across the board, to talk about those old ’90s looks.
“And I thought, ‘Geez, in the moment, they weren’t cool.’ I was probably the last person that GLAMOUR wanted to talk to back in the ’90s. It’s really funny. So I’m kind of chuckling to myself, thinking, If you wait long enough, it just all comes around. It’s been a real fun experience for me to be in this position right now, and to be able to experience all the things I get to.

Tyler, The Creator designs capsule collection for Louis Vuitton

OHMYGOSSIP — Tyler, the Creator has designed a capsule collection for Louis Vuitton.
The 32-year-old rapper was invited by the Pharrell Williams, the brand’s creative director of menswear, to be part of his first stand-alone collaboration, with the line of clothing and accessories featuring everything from a silk pocket square and a fleece jacket to a cereal bowl and a special edition Courrier Lozine 110 trunk, the most expensive product in the range, retailing at 68,000 euros.
The items all feature Tyler’s handdrawn take on the fashion house’s monogram motif, dubbed the Craggy Monogram, and many references to pastries including an eclair-shaped clip-on pouch and a Waffle slide in chocolate, pistachio or custard leather.
Pharrell told WWD in an email interview: “Tyler has been my close friend and collaborator for years. I admire his eye and we’ve always connected on music, fashion and jewellery. He doesn’t shy away from doing something interesting and different.
“Tyler already had a strong relationship with the maison when Virgil was here, and this spring collection intentionally builds on this and strengthens our LVers community of incredible minds and artists who understand our vision and appreciate the history and Virgil’s impact like Tyler does.”
The line hits stores on 21 March and is described by Louis Vuitton has “an instinctive union” between Tyler’s “signature preppy sophistication” and the “elegant dandy dressing” established by Pharrell since he joined the brand.
The ‘She Wants To Move’ hitmaker said: “Everything that Tyler does is thoughtful and authentic. We’ve done something completely new with this project that merges our two worlds and the outcome is uniquely LV.
“This collection fuses our vision with Tyler’s universe through the codes of Louis Vuitton.”
Tyler and Pharrell have collaborated on music in the past, and the N.E.R.D. star didn’t see working together in fashion as being much different.
Pharrell said: “It’s still a collaboration at the end of the day, right? Whether you’re in the music studio writing lyrics and testing different sounds or you’re in the showroom discussing sketches and fabrics, it still involves us coming together to create something new and beautiful. It’s equally as rewarding and I’m constantly wowed by his process and what he create.”

‘You’ve gotta be able to dance in it’: Dua Lipa’s party dress rule

OHMYGOSSIP — Dua Lipa has “gotta be able to dance” in her dresses.
The ‘Training Season’ actress attended the EE Bafta Awards in a voluminous red Valentino gown with scarf neckline at the weekend, but had a wardrobe change for something more “freeing”, a sheer black feather-trimmed number from the same fashion house, ahead of British Vogue’s annual Fashion + Film party in partnership with Tiffany + Co. at Annabel’s afterwards so she could let her hair down properly.
She told Vogue.com: “You know I’m always down for a good afterparty.
“For the awards, we had a gorgeous custom Valentino dress that had this very dramatic long train. So I wanted to switch things up for afterwards and go for something that felt a bit lighter and freeing. Something I could dance in–and this custom sheer black Valentino dress was perfect for that.”
Discussing her secret to the perfect look, she said: “[It should be] something fun, maybe a little bit unexpected–and you’ve gotta be able to dance in it.
To accessorise her outfit, Dua turned to Tiffany + Co. to “really take it to the next level”, teaming the gown with a diamond necklace from the archives, as well as a Schlumberger by Tiffany + Co. Three Leaves ear clips with diamonds, and a yellow gold and diamond Tiffany Knot ring.
She said: “You can never go wrong with a little shimmer… I love any chance to mix metals.”
Up next for the 28-year-old star is the BRIT Awards next month, where she is up for Best Song and Best Artist, and she’s looking forward to the celebrations afterwards, whether she wins or not.
She said: “My favourite parties are the ones that go into the wee hours of the night with your best mates. That’s when the best memories are made.”

Emily Ratajkowski doesn’t follow trends

OHMYGOSSIP — Emily Ratajkowski doesn’t follow trends.
The ‘Gone Girl’ actress would rather stick with what she is comfortable in and knows works for her rather than choose an outfit based on what is fashionable at the moment.
She told PopSugar: “I’ve made the mistake of trying [trends] before. What makes me happy is just knowing that I look good…
“I just try to really take a second and be like, OK, what do I want to feel like today? Am I comfortable? Am I kicking [but] and wearing heels? What’s the vibe?”
The 32-year-old beauty’s biggest beauty regret is tweezing her eyebrows too much as a teenager and even having her cousin shave them at one point.
She noted: “I’ve been on a journey with my eyebrows.”
But Emily knows everyone makes mistakes and she tries not too be too critical of herself these days.
She reflected: “I was so hard on myself, and I get it, it’s what we do, but God, it’s so not nice.”
Emily has teamed up with Viktor + Rolf for the launch of their new Flowerbomb Tiger Lily frangrance and she loved the tropical scent of the perfume, which features notes of coconut milk, mango and tiger lily.
She said: “I grew up in North County, San Diego, very close to the beach, and I just grew up wearing a bikini — very much in beach culture.
“[With this fragrance] I immediately feel like I’m transported to a beach after a long day of being in the sun and dipping in salt water.
And the Flowerbomb line is familiar to the brunette beauty because one of her friends wore it so she loves the fact fragrance can transport her somewhere, “even when you’re in the dead of winter and in New York and very far from that feeling.”

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley reveals her makeup is inspired by the ’90s

OHMYGOSSIP — Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s makeup is inspired by supermodels of the ’90s.
The 36-year-old model explained that when it comes to getting ready for showbiz events, she doesn’t want to spend all night taking her makeup off when she gets home so avoids “high-maintenance” looks and prefers to opt for a type of glamour that is reminiscent of catwalk stars from 30 years ago.
She told Vogue: “I always say to my make-up artist before a long night that I don’t want to be rubbing my make-up off for an hour when I get home at God-knows-what time. I’m a big lash girl and I always love gorgeous, glowing skin and something easy on the lips – sometimes a red lip is too high-maintenance to keep up with all night long. The vibe is glamour, matte ’90s supermodel and sexy.”
When it comes to her routine for getting ready, Rosie explained that it is all a “fun process” that sometimes involves a small alcholic drink and she finds that preparing to go out is the “best part” of any night out.
She said: “It’s very girly. I have a whole dressing room for glam downstairs, so getting ready is a fun process – I might even have a little glass of something tonight before we leave. Getting ready is almost always the best part.”
But when arriving home, Rosie finds the whole charade of getting ready for bed to be “anticlimactic because she wants to go to sleep as quickly as possible.
She said: “It’s so anticlimactic when I get home – I get unready as quickly as possible because it’s usually late, but I never go to sleep with my make-up on! That’s the time-consuming part, alongside taking out my hair – it’s torture to have to do that at 4 in the morning.”

Cat Deeley reveals her hair thickness ‘changed’ after pregnancy and how she maintains it

OHMYGOSSIP — Cat Deeley takes biotin injections for her hair.
The 47-year-old TV host has Milo, eight, and six-year-old James with husband Patrick Kielty and explained that her hair “changed” after giving birth so these days she sometimes takes shots of the B vitamin to help improve the thickness of it.
She told Harper’s Bazaar: “I sometimes have vitamin injections, like B12 for when I travel, and biotin for my hair which changed after I had my boys – the shots are amazing; they’ve helped thicken it back up again!”
Meanwhile, the former ‘So You Think You Can Dance?’ host – who lived in the US for a number of years but was recently confirmed to be returning home to the UK to front ITV magazine show ‘This Morning’ – also revealed that her morning beauty routine consists of skincare followed by yoga.
She said: “I’ll start with skincare, using the Ella and Jo Brighten and Glow Exfoliating Cleanser, then apply the Hydrating Hyaluronic Serum onto my face, neck and décolletage, and then the Plump and Protect Hydrating Day Cream with SPF30 over my face, neck, chest, ears and hands. I was terrible at using SPF when I was younger. It wasn’t as ingrained in my psyche as it is now. So with the day cream having SPF already in it, I don’t have to think about.
Then I’ll always try and do some yoga. If I do a heavy workout, I feel terrible for about two days and can’t walk up and down stairs! Yoga really works for me because you have to concentrate on your breathing and your movement at the same time, so it stops my brain from going a million miles an hour. I use this amazing website called Yogaglo, which means I can do it whenever and wherever. I bookmark certain classes – like one that’s half an hour, one that’s 45 minutes, and one that’s an hour, and I just slot it in.”

TikTok star Sergio Perdomo reveals how he has avoided ‘toxicity’ of fashion industry

OHMYGOSSIP — Sergio Perdomo has learned to stay away from the “toxicity” of the fashion industry.
The 22-year-old model has enjoyed success on the catwalk since beginning in recent years and is also known on TikTok as sergioperdomoo to more than half a million followers but has managed to keep his feet on the ground by remembering to “appreciate” the simplicity of life and remember the values instilled into him by his family.
He told Da Man magazine: “Coming from Colombia, where nature is everything, I learned to appreciate life’s simplicity and appreciate the little things around me. My family has always been very religious. I learned a lot from listening not just to their prayers but also from their speeches about gratitude. They have always taught me to value the little things, which has helped me greatly in my job. The fashion world can be tough and not always fair, but I learned to stay far from the industry’s toxicity, remember where I come from and never forget my parents’ lessons.”
The social media star also reflected that things have changed drastically in the modelling industry over the course of the last 20 years, noting that the “standard” beauty type has become more “subjective” in recent times.
He said: ” modeling industry has changed a lot as the world is moving quickly. Beauty today isn’t what it was 20 years ago, when the standard type was tall, skinny, with a perfectly proportioned face. Now, there’s more diversity, including different body types and a broader definition of beauty that’s become subjective. I agree with the inclusivity of new kinds of beauty and particular features that distinguish the person.”
