Rita Moreno teases ‘extraordinary’ dress for the Oscars

OHMYGOSSIP — Rita Moreno has teased that she will be wearing an “extraordinary” dress for the Oscars.
The 92-year-old actress initially claimed that it was a Dolce and Gabbana dress that she would be wearing to the upcoming awards ceremony on Sunday (10.03.24) but immediately backtracked and revealed that the number would be from Badgley Mischka.
Speaking on ‘The Today Show’, she said: “I’m going to wear a gown that’s gonna knock your socks off. I gotta clear something up instantly. Badgley Mischka! That’s the gown I’m wearing for the Oscars. I am 92 years old and I got confused earlier on Today, this show. And I’m sure somebody’s gonna just kill me. I’m going to wear an extraordinary gown for the Oscars. Not bad for an old lady!”
The ‘West Side Story’ star – who won an Academy Award herself for her role as Anita in the 1961classic – went on to confirm that the dress will be black and she will do something “very different” to her hair even though she remained coy about spilling exactly what it is.
She said: “It’s black also but it’s so astonishing. I can’t wait. And I’m going to do something very different with my hair. I won’t say what but it’s going to be very different. Oh, it’s going to be astonishing, mostly because I’m going to be in it.
Rita insisted that the gown is going to “blow a lot of people” away as she described the dress as “gorgoeus.”
She said: “I’m going to wear a gown that’s going to blow a lot of people away Badgley Mischka, but it’s just gorgeous.”

Jodie Comer reveals her biggest fashion regret

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Comer regrets over-wearing her Ugg boots as a teenager.
The 30-year-old actress was a big fan of the Australian sheepskin boots in her youth and wore them so much that the heels wore right down but doesn’t regret her decision to experiment as a teenager and navigate her way through those years.
She told Elle: “One [fashion regret] that has sprung to mind is wearing Ugg boots [so much] to where they wore in so much they kind of dipped in at the back. I have a lot of pictures from my early teens where there’s lots of colourful skinny jeans trying to dress different, which I don’t regret actually. ‘I’m glad that my parents let me experiment and live through those years.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Killing Eve’ star won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play for her role in ‘Prima Facie’ and explained that the look she wore to the glitzy theatrical ceremony last year is probably her favourite look from recent times because of how it replicated her costume from the show itself.
She said: “Favourite red carpet look from recent times is probably by Tom Brown look that I wore to attend the Tony Awards in New York. It was a beautiful, corseted, navy dress that had very find beading which kind of replicated the pinstripe suit that I wore in the play that I was attending for, so yeah, that’s probably my most recent favourite.”
Meanwhile, Jodie explained that she loves to find a “well-curated” vintage shop and has become “obsessed” with a particular one she has found in New York.
She said: “There’s an incredible vintage shop in New York called 9th Street Vintage which I discovered year and I’m obsessed with it. Vintage shopping is hard and you have to have a lot of pateince when you find the shops that are so well curated, I tend to kind of stick to those.”

Michelle Williams reveals Destiny’s Child costumes had to be done on a budget to begin with

OHMYGOSSIP — All of the Destiny’s Child costumes were done “on a budget” to begin with.
The 2000s R’n’B trio consisted of Beyonce, Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland and Michelle explained that it was her bandmate’s mother Tina Knowles who handled all the the fashion choices in their early days because no big designers would come near them.
She told Marie Claire Australia: “At the time, before Destiny’s Child really, really blew up, the unfortunate thing was that a lot of designers would not dress Destiny’s Child. So, Beyoncé’s mother, with her background designing clothing (being a seamstress and having that kind of training), she would literally have to get a budget from the record label and go to a fabric store.
“That’s really how things happened. Then, you know, certain designers started to be like ‘oh, okay’ Most of the time a collection would have three or four pieces in the same collection.
“So, it was really cool, because I don’t like certain things that Kelly does or Beyoncé liked certain things, so it all worked out. We never had to fight or anything.”
Beyonce recently hailed her mother as a “visionary” for the way she has worked alongside her throughout her career.
She told Essence magazine: “I woke up this morning, said my prayers, and really thought about the fact that my mom and I have been talking about this [hair care line] since I was a teenager. And what an honour to be able to do something so special with my mother, and to be able to share that with the world. This is meaningful.
“She’s a visionary and a brilliant woman and has worked so hard on this brand alongside me. She’s such a gift, and this is a bit surreal for me that it is finally here. It feels like all of her life’s learning, her 70 years, and now my 42 years, are generational and meant to be.

Lucy Bronze didn’t feel she ‘belonged’ in the fashion world

OHMYGOSSIP — Lucy Bronze never felt like she “belonged” in the fashion world.
The 32-year-old Lioness admitted her “passion” for sport growing up meant she didn’t feel like she was in a position to experiment with what she wore, even though she admired the “amazing” outfits she saw on other people.
She told Women’s Health magazine: “‘I felt like I didn’t belong in that world, even from a young age. I was so passionate about football and sport, it felt like that’s what I like so I have to do that.
“When I was growing up, I didn’t really have that person I could [look up to] who played football and liked to dress differently and that made me feel a little bit uncomfortable.
“Even though I always enjoyed what other people were wearing, and what other people looked nice in and when they were brave to wear amazing dresses and outfits.”
But now Lucy – who is the face of ALIGNE’s spring/summer campaign – has realised there is always a “place” for everyone, so long as they are “brave” enough to be themselves.
She said: “As I’ve got older, I’ve become more brave and realised there is a place for everybody – whether you’re a footballer or an athlete – there’s definitely a place for you in fashion if you’re brave enough to have your own style and feel comfortable with that.”
And the Barcelona defender credits her teammates at former club Lyon for helping her find her own style.
She said: “There was a couple of players there whose style was amazing. They would say ‘You could wear this’ and I thought ‘No I can’t,’ but they were the people who really pushed me and said there’s a place for everybody in fashion.
“Slowly, I’ve felt more comfortable in trying new things and finding my style.”

Destiny’s Child couldn’t get designers in early days

OHMYGOSSIP — Beyonce’s mom had to make Destiny’s Child’s clothes because “a lot of designers” refused to dress them.
The group became household names in the early 2000s after a line-up change saw Michelle Williams join existing members Beyonce and Kelly Rowland, and though they often wore matching outfits at the time, the ‘Survivor’ hitmakers had to be resourceful when it came to their iconic looks.
Michelle told Australia’s Marie Claire magazine: “At the time, before Destiny’s Child really, really blew up, the unfortunate thing was that a lot of designers would not dress Destiny’s Child.
“So, Beyoncé’s mother, with her background designing clothing (being a seamstress and having that kind of training), she would literally have to get a budget from the record label and go to a fabric store.”
But as the group’s star rose even higher, designers clamoured to dress the trio and they were thrilled to always be able to find distinctive outfits that complemented one another so they never fought over clothes.
Michelle added: “That’s really how things happened. Then, you know, certain designers started to be like ‘oh, okay’,” she explains. “Most of the time a collection would have three or four pieces in the same collection.
“So, it was really cool, because I don’t like certain things that Kelly does or Beyoncé liked certain things, so it all worked out. We never had to fight or anything.”
Michelle enjoys a quieter life these days and she sees being able to walk around relatively unbothered as a “blessing”.
She said: “Time away… It’s so funny because one of the lines in this Uber One commercial, I say ‘I was in one of the most iconic girl groups and nobody recognises me’. It’s so coo.
“I learned how to manoeuvre. I walk down these streets since I’ve been here…I haven’t been here in a while. I feel like the younger people, they’re too young to know. And then some of the people my age are like, ‘That’s not her walking down the street’.
“I just think of everything as a blessing.”

Barbie ‘first client’ of world’s biggest male and female fashion designers

OHMYGOSSIP — Barbie has been hailed as the “first client” of some of the world’s most famous male and female fashion designers.
The Mattel doll, created by the company in 1959, became a mini-mannequin for millions of budding designers who would make their own designs for it, and the curator of a new show celebrating the toy says its contribution to the fashion world cannot be underestimated.
Danielle Thom told The Guardian about the showcase at London’s Design Museum, which will open on 5 July: “A number of fashion designers have said Barbie was their first client.
“Martin Margiela (founder of his titular French luxury fashion house) talks at length about as a teenager playing with his sister’s Barbies and making clothes for them.
“Jeremy Scott, the former creative director at Moschino, did an entire ready-to-wear catwalk collection in 2015 – we want to show some archived looks from that show. We’re in conversation about that.
“Barbie’s been used to influence real fashion bodies. For me it was always about the clothes.”
The Barbie exhibit will feature more than 180 dolls including the rare first edition known as ‘Number 1 Barbie, while dozens of original Barbie outfits will also be on show that demonstrate the doll’s origins in fashion.
Its looks – which were copied by Margot Robbie, 33, when she walked red carpets to promote her 2023 ‘Barbie’ film – include the ‘Poodle Parade’, a lifesize replica of which was worn by Billie Eilish, 22, when she performed at the Grammys this year.

Monica Lewinsky signed by major fashion brand!

OHMYGOSSIP — Monica Lewinsky has been signed by a major fashion brand as part of a drive to get young people to vote.
The anti-bullying activist, 50, infamous for being at the centre of a 1990s media storm after her affair with then-US President Bill Clinton, 77, was chosen by women’s fashion house Reformation to lead the company’s latest campaign.
Its ‘You’ve Got the Power’ work wear campaign has been launched in partnership with Vote.org and is said to be aimed at reminding people of their voting power ahead of this year’s crunch US elections.
Monica said in a statement on the company’s website: “Voting is using your voice to be heard, and it’s the most defining aspect of democracy.
“If you wanna complain for the next four years, you gotta go out and vote.”
Monica was only 22 when she had a fling with Bill Clinton, with their affair dominating global headlines in the late 1990s after the president initially repeatedly denied their relationship before admitting he had “inappropriate intimate physical contact” with the White House intern.
The Reformation campaign features Monica posing in leather trench coat, as well as a red two-piece outfit, jumpers and office wear.
The company said on its site: “It’s a super important election year and faith in big institutions is pretty low.
“We get it. We don’t wanna be another brand just tell you to vote, so we partnered with experts at Vote.org.”
The company has made a $25,000 donation as part of the campaign to Vote.org – one of the world’s largest organisations working to urge young people to go to the ballots.

Pamela Anderson ‘never wanted to wear a dress’ as a kid

OHMYGOSSIP — Pamela Anderson “never wanted to wear a dress” growing up.
The former ‘Baywatch’ pin-up, 56, has recently become a hero for women who hate wearing make-up after turning up at Paris Fashion Week with a bare face, and has now revealed she has always felt like a “tomboy”.
She told Highsnobiety about her new look: “My face gets more interesting with age… I’m a tomboy!
“I was actually always a tomboy growing up.
“I never wanted to wear a dress. I was athletic. I made mud pies.”
Pamela, who has also discussed her tomboy nature in her memoir ‘Love, Pamela’ and last year’s Netflix documentary ‘Pamela, A Love Story’, added her choice to drop make-up is part of a “healing experience” in her life, which has seen her married five times.
Despite her turbulent love life, which saw Pamela left scarred by the leaking of a sex tape she made with her ex-partner Tommy Lee, 61, she went on: “Love is the most important thing in the world. So if you’re in love, you’re brave, and it’s an important thing to cherish.
“Being lonely is good. If you can be alone, then you can be with another person, probably.
“I know nothing when it comes to relationships.
“You fall in love with people there to expose a part of yourself that you need to get through. Relationships are mirrors.
“You can love somebody, but you can’t change them. And sometimes the most loving thing to do is get out of the way!”

Michelle Yeoh is new face of Helena Rubinstein

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Yeoh has became the new face of Helena Rubinstein.
The 61-year-old Bond girl – known for her role in 007 blockbuster ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’, as well as the likes of ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’, ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ and ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ – has signed on to join forces with the brand.
In a statement, Helena Rubinstein said: “This collaboration is the result of an unprecedented encounter harmoniously merging the pioneering spirit of the avant-garde beauty brand and the inspiring journey of Michelle Yeoh.
“Entering a new era together, Helena Rubinstein continues to invent beauty that allows women to reach new heights.”
The brand – which has been around for 132 years, and owned by L’Oreal since 1984 – is a major force in the global skincare industry.
As reported by Women’s Wear Daily, Helena Rubinstein’s key markets include South Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan and mainland China.
The company explained that Yeoh shares the same values of determination, daring, resilience and self-confidence.
They added: “In addition to being the first Asian actress to win an Oscar, Time Magazine’s 2022 Icon of the Year, being a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador and being elected to the 2024 International Olympic Committee, she is recognised worldwide as an exceptional role model for women.”
Michelle previously revealed that the “best thing” about her recent award show success is that she is no longer only getting scripts for “Asian-looking” characters.
Speaking at the Cannes Film Festival last year, she said: “The best thing that has happened is I receive a script that doesn’t describe the character as a Chinese or Asian-looking person.
“We are actors. We are supposed to act. We are supposed to step into roles that are given to us and do our job as best we can. That, for me, is the biggest step forward.”

Kate Hudson wants people to ‘break the algorithm’ with fashion choices

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Hudson has urged people to “break the algorithm” with their fashion choices.
The 44-year-old actress wants “the younger generation” to embrace themselves through their style, and do so in a “very honest” way.
She told E! News: “Fashion is about individuality and expressing yourself in a very authentic way.
“And I encourage that for the younger generation. I like the idea of breaking the algorithm, not following the algorithm…
“I think that’s where a real icon emerges from, those who are interested in doing what’s very honest to them.”
Kate has teamed up with Rakuten for the new ‘Shoppers Get It’ campaign, as she and two other models wear the same PatBO dress.
She explained: “The ad is so fun because it makes light of what happens when you go into an intimate space with women that you don’t know and you connect over familiar fashion.
“I think one thing women are really good at is sharing our little secrets, our go-to’s.”
The ‘How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days’ star has taken steps into the world of music after dropping her first ever single ‘Talk About Love’ last month, having co-wrote the track with her fiance Danny Fujikawa, and Linda Perry.
And, just like her outlook on fashion, Kate – who will drop her debut album later this year – was inspired by “taking risks” and being true to herself.
She said: “Do it because you love it, not because you’re expecting some sort of validation — I just got that point.
“And I would say to the younger kids is, ‘What moves you? What is the actual purpose of all this?’
“If it’s seeking the outside, then you’re going to get hurt. But if it’s a drive, if it’s a calling, keep going.”

Riverdale’s Lili Reinhart was ‘privileged’ to reunite with Camila Mendes for Armani shoot

OHMYGOSSIP — Lili Reinhart felt “privileged” to reunite with Camila Mendes for Armani Beauty’s Gen A campaign.
The 27-year-old actress posed with her former ‘Riverdale’ co-star and several other young Hollywood stars – such as Chase Stokes, Isabela Merced, Michael Evans Behling and Christopher Briney – in the new shoot, and she was glad to be around her “actual friends”.
She told People magazine: “I guess it’s technically ‘work,’ but it doesn’t feel like that.
“Just to get to have experiences outside the confines of ‘Riverdale’ is always just really nice, and it’s a privilege to get to do that with her.
“And I hope to get to continue to work with her in the future outside of the show, because we are friends in real life.”
She revealed that several times during the shoot, the group found time to bond and let loose, especially on the beach.
Lili said: “We were standing right by the waves, so the people would just shout, ‘Wave!’
“And we would have to run towards the house where we were shooting, [and] we were all either barefoot or wearing socks, or sandals or whatever. But it was fun.”
Her love for the products – such as the Lip Power Longwear Satin Lipstick and the Luminous Silk Concealer – made things a lot easier too, as she felt “really comfortable” shooting with items she uses “every day”.
And while Lili prefers a “less is more” approach in her everyday life, she has enjoyed getting to experiment and switch things up.
She explained: “Lately when I’m going out and kind of want to step up my appearance, I will wear a nice lipstick, or I’ll use one of the Armani lid tints on my eyes, then do a little bit of a smudgy line.”

The model was announced as the face of the make-up giant in March 2023, but it’s now been revealed the 27-year-old catwalk star was released from her contract in November after just eight months of work.

DJ Khaled helps launch 24-karat gold toothbrush

OHMYGOSSIP — DJ Khaled has helped launch a new golden toothbrush.
The 48-year-old star has teamed up with luxury oral care brand Aurezzi as both a stakeholder and ambassador for its first direct to consumer range.
The collection includes a $59 toothbrush, which comes in 24-karat gold plate, as well as options for 18-karat rose gold and silver.
The range also features a toothbrush stand in the same options, and both toothpaste and mouthwash infused with either silver or gold particles.
Khaled said in a statement: “We the best, so we brush with the best.
“Aurezzi is much more than a luxury oral care brand, it’s a lifestyle that seeks to empower. It’s the oral gold standard.
“With Aurezzi, your daily routine becomes an opportunity to boost confidence, well-being and brush off anything that’s keeping you from succeeding.
“I resonate with that vision and am excited to take this company to the next level.”
As part of the partnership, he will push the brand across his own social media channels, including TikTok.
The company’s founder Noel Abdayem added: “The engagement that we can get on TikTok when we have Khaled presenting the brand as part of his daily life will give us that organic spread.”
As well as gold, the products do contain the usual ingredients necessary for oral hygeine, such as hydroxyapatite and fluoride.
Meanwhile, Adbayem insisted the products aim to enhance oral care, with the brushes apparently featuring 5,000 bristles instead of the typical 2,000, while they also weigh more than the average brush.
And he said: “The first benefit [of using gold] is getting that luxury feel and look. There are some studies coming out that prove gold might be beneficial for oral care health.”

Mindy Kaling reveals her beauty routine

OHMYGOSSIP — Mindy Kaling uses rice powder to benefit her skin.
The 44-year-old actress has a whole routine early on in the morning and amongst other things uses the skin powder, which is thought to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant substances that help prevent skin aging.
She told WSJ: “I’ll put on Lion Pose Ghost-Buster sunscreen if I’m doing a hike. [Kaling is a Lion Pose investor.] In the shower, I’ll use the Tatcha rice powder exfoliant for oily skin, then I follow it up with Dr. Sarmela Sunder [Sunder Skincare] acne face wash. I’ll hop out of the shower, do the La Mer oil-absorbing toner.
“I’ll do some kind of vitamin C, I’ve been using the Isdin vitamin C [ampoules]. I splurged on them on Black Friday. Then I follow that up with a Dr. Sunder moisturizer. ”
The former ‘Office’ star – who has Katherine, six, and three-year-old Spencer from a previous relationship – also revealed that it is “exciting” if she can sleep until 6am and doesn’t enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning even though she loves the “ritual” of making the caffeine staple.
She said: “If I can sleep until 6 a.m., I’m very excited. But what has been happening recently is that I’ll get up between 3:15 and 4:15 a.m. and then just sit there with my worries until I hear my kids stirring. One of the most off-putting things about me is that I don’t drink coffee. I love the ritual of it and I love beautiful cappuccino art, so I really do feel excluded from a big part of culture. I think people are suspicious of it, and I would be, too.”
