Mandy Moore hates lip gloss

OHMYGOSSIP — Mandy Moore hates lip gloss because it is so “sticky”.
The ‘This Is Us’ actress used to embrace the product but she finds it “too much maintenance” these days and hates the way her hair always gets stuck to her mouth.
She said: “For the younger generation, it’s probably totally applicable. But for me, it’s just ugh. All I think about is how sticky it is. And how my hair gets stuck in it. And how it drags across my face.
“It’s too much maintenance for me. I’m about keeping it as low-key as possible. So, I don’t think I’ll be jumping on the lip gloss band wagon.”
But the 33-year-old actress always feels “sexy” if she wears lipstick, and she doesn’t even care if the colour she chooses doesn’t complement her appearance.
She told Pop Sugar: “I don’t know if I have tips for the right shade . . . It’s just whatever makes you feel good! I’m sure there are plenty of times when I don’t gravitate toward the proper shade for my skin tone or what looks good with my eyes or my hair.
“But, it’s what makes me feel great. It makes me feel put together. Sexy.
“Whatever you’re going for, you can’t fail with that philosophy. That’s my rule of thumb. Whatever you put on and you go ‘Yup, that’s exactly what I’m going for’, you can’t go wrong.”
The ‘Candy’ singer takes a much more relaxed approach to getting ready for red carpet events these days because she realises she doesn’t have to be “so serious” about ti and she’d rather just enjoy the moment than worry about the impression she makes.
She said: “I think I have a bit more fun now than I used to. I used to hem and haw about getting ready for events because it felt so serious, in a way: ‘Well, this is my one and only shot! Such and such award show or premiere, or fancy event, and I have one time and one time only to get it ‘right.”
“I kind of just relied on my spontaneity, which is fine. But, now I think there’s a lot more of collaborative spirit around it.
“With the girls that I get to work with all the time — [make-up artist] Jenn [Streicher], [hairstylist] Ashley [Streicher], and [stylist] Erica [Cloud] — we have fun with it and don’t take it too seriously, but we are prepared. We definitely all want to have a say at what the approach should be. And, I think we can have so much more fun.
“[At the Emmys] we totally just had a little party and celebration as we were getting ready because we knew what we were doing, and were just enjoying the moment. We had, like, a charcuterie plate, and cheese and wine — that’s important! — food and snacks are a requirement at this point.”

Ruby Rose always followed trends

OHMYGOSSIP — Ruby Rose “followed all of the trends” when she was a teenager.
The ‘Orange is the New Black’ actress would dramatically change her look depending on who she idolised at the time.
She said: “When I was still in school, I followed all of the trends. I wore messy eyeliner and SPF 80 when I listened to Nirvana. I stopped wearing eyeliner completely when I discovered Annie Lennox and Sinéad O’Connor.
“And you can imagine all the make-up I wore in my Madonna, Bowie, and Blondie phase. I had dress-up parties, scoured thrift shops, and experimented with hair colours.”
And Ruby credits her beloved mother for helping her experiment with her look.
She added: “Plus, my mum was and is a megababe, and she taught me to be expressive through fashion and art and make-up. She raised me in an environment where everyone was embraced for their quirks and idiosyncrasies.
“She taught me to have a sense of self and identity.”
The 31-year-old actress “shaved off” her long hair when she was 16 in a bid to ward off unwanted attention, and found it incredibly “liberating”.
She told Allure magazine: ” I felt like I was getting a lot of attention that I didn’t know how to handle.
“I thought if I shaved off my long hair, people would stop looking at me. The logic behind it was strange, and of course it didn’t quite work out that way. But it was still so liberating. I
“t sounds cliché, but you should just see beauty within yourself. You see it when you’re happiest and healthiest. Then it radiates outward. I learned to just embrace who I am as a person and to do what makes me feel the most comfortable.”

Alicia Keys fronts Stella McCartney charity campaign

OHMYGOSSIP — Alicia Keys has teamed up with Stella McCartney for a new Breast Cancer Awareness campaign.
The British designer has created a limited-edition Ophelia Whistling pink lingerie set to raise money for charity, and the ‘Fallin” hitmaker models the collection in an accompanying advertising campaign.
A percentage of the proceeds will go to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Breast Examination Center of Harlem and also the Linda McCartney Centre in Liverpool, England, which was started in the memory of Stella’s late mother.
And for both women, the cause is extremely personal.
Speaking in a video clip, Stella said: “Every 19 seconds a woman around the world is diagnosed with breast cancer.”
Alicia added: “So I’m showing my support by wearing Stella’s Ophelia Whistling lingerie set, where a percentage of the proceeds are donated to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Breast Examination Center of Harlem, which is super important to me. I was raised in Harlem so this really resonates with me and also my mother is a breast cancer survivor and I don’t think I’ve ever really got to really share that story, so this is important to me.”
Stella added: “I don’t think enough women know that. Sadly, I lost my mother to breast cancer 19 years ago. She didn’t meet my children. My children didn’t meet her, and we are here today to raise awareness.”
The women also want to raise awareness about detection and examination for the disease.
Alicia added: “And to start a conversation and to break the taboos and to really encourage everybody to get checked.”
She also told Harper’s Bazaar online: “I just recently learned that African-American women have a 42 percent higher rate of mortality from breast cancer than Caucasian women in part because we don’t always have the opportunity to get an early diagnosis or the right kind of treatment.
“So increasing that awareness is another reason this project is extremely important.”

Jessica Alba’s company sues rival

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessica Alba’s Honest Company are suing a health and wellness competitor.
The eco-friendly brand have filed a lawsuit against Colorado-based Honest Herbal – which makes cannabinoid rich hemp products – for trademark infringement, accusing the firm of trying to use their own name to boost sales.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Herbal are accused of intentionally taking the Honest moniker to deliberately confuse customers into thinking their products were associated with the ‘Sin City’ actress.
Honest Company have taken legal action after claiming they sent a letter to their rival earlier this month, asking them to drop the Honest tag, but the note went unacknowledged.
They are suing not just for money, but also to obtain an order forcing Herbal to change their name.
The 36-year-old beauty – who has daughters Honor, nine, and six-year-old Haven and is expecting her third child with husband Cash Warren – previously revealed she founded the Honest Company in 2011 to prove she is more than just an actress.
She said: “There aren’t a lot of women who have multi-hyphen job descriptions or have done many different things in their careers and have been successful in them.
“It’s more, ‘I always knew I had it in me and you didn’t believe in me and now hopefully you see something or your perspective is different, and you’re judging things differently. And hopefully, you’re opening your eyes up to what is possible.'”
The ‘Fantastic Four’ star feels a “quiet satisfaction” that she boasts a successful career in front of the camera, as well as with her skincare and beauty business.

And Armani thinks Duchess Catherine – who is expecting her third child with her husband Prince William – “dresses very well”.
He added: “Kate is very modern, she dresses very well already.”
The fashion legend also admits it is “unfortunate” how dressing celebrities has changed as they are after something simpler compared to couture, when he can create “something spectacular”.
He shared: “But it’s unfortunate how the business of dressing celebrities has become because I do a huge job when I create the couture, something spectacular, but at the end the requests come in and the celebrities always want something simple, so I can’t make as much of an impact as I’d like to.”
The Italian fashion designer credits his long-standing success to “obsession and perfection”.
Asked why he thinks he’s still so successful after so many years, he told Grazia magazine: “Because I do not design just for magazine covers and because it’s simple and simply because it’s comfortable … comfort immediately translates into success … [It’s] commitment and determination. To my obsession with perfection and, of course, a dose of good luck.”

Suki Waterhouse’s baking soda fix

OHMYGOSSIP — Suki Waterhouse mixes baking soda into her moisturiser for a “quick fix”.
The 25-year-old model has shared one of her “weirdest” beauty tips, revealing she adds the household product in with her skincare routine once a month or so to exfoliate her skin.
Asked what beauty tips she gives her friends, she said: “OK, I’ve got a weird one. You shouldn’t do this too often, but if you really need a quick fix, mix a tiny bit of baking soda into your moisturiser and then you mush it all in and wash it off. So if you haven’t got a lot around, it’s great. I don’t do it very often at all, maybe once a month?”
Suki can’t go anywhere without her tweezers or she has “complete anxiety”.
She admitted: “Also, I absolutely always carry tweezers with me, otherwise I have complete anxiety, just in case there’s anything that needs plucking. And a razor, of course!”
The blonde beauty also urged her fans to go on lots of walks because she feels it helps with general “wellbeing”.
She explained: “And finally, go on lots of walks. Around 7pm, just go for a chat and a walk with your best friend. It’s so good for wellbeing. There’s so many benefits to it, it’s like meditation, but you also get to have a bit of a gossip on the go.”
And Suki really likes Laura Mercier’s Fresco Eyeshadow as it’s a product that has a number of uses.
Asked what her make-up essential is, she told Harper’s Bazaar magazine: “The Fresco Eyeshadow from Laura Mercier because I am super into not having too much stuff on me.
“I would so much prefer to just carry one thing, maybe not even a brush and then I’ll just use my finger and put in on my eyes and on my cheeks. It’s not like a blusher, it’s almost like a contour. I also like using a bronzer on my eye because they’re quite earthy and neutral, I can use them everywhere so it’s more of a natural thing going on.”

Asked what is in her medicine cabinet, she said: “50 SPF Everyday – from Neutrogena to Chanel, I’m not that picky.
“I always wash my face and moisturise no matter how tired I am every night. Vitamin C Night Cream, Aēsop Parsley Seed Face Wash, Dr. Bronners’s Lavender Soap.”
And the 34-year-old singer – whose real name is Annie Clark – has revealed it is her mother that got her into moisturising.
Asked about the best advice her mom has given her, she added to W magazine: “Treat everyone with kindness and respect and always moisturise.”
When it comes to make up miracles, St. Vincent really rates the NARS Tinted Moisturiser and is a big fan of orange, pink and red lipsticks.
And the ‘Birth In Reverse’ singer would never been seen out of the house without her “Celine sunglasses (prescription), St. Christopher Necklace and Chanel red lip”.
Meanwhile, St. Vincent previously revealed she “tries to get away” with wearing as little make up as possible.
She shared: “If it’s just day to day, I try to get away with wearing as little as possible. I have a Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer that I use on my face. And I’ve been using the pink and green Maybelline mascara I get from Super Target. I love it there. I go whenever I’m in Dallas, since I was 13. I also have a red lipstick from a drugstore in Paris that has served me well. It’s by a brand called Mavala.”

A source told The Sun newspaper: “Stormzy has become a massive star in the past 18 months so he and his team think this is the perfect step to turn his popularity into a booming business.
“They are considering lots of different options, all reflected in the trademark document they have registered. There is scope for him to design clothing and also beauty products.”
It comes after the 24-year-old grime star admitted he feels more comfortable in trackies than a suit.
He said: “Usually I just fling a tracksuit on. But it’s good to step out of my comfort zone.”
Stormzy catapulted to fame with his debut album ‘Gang Signs & Prayer’, which was released in February 2017.
Speaking about his success, he shared: “That’s the beauty of my story: the fact that it’s backwards. I’m the total opposite of where I should be. I’m releasing my debut album after touring the world! Everyone around my pedestal is at least two albums and 10 years deep. I’m a prominent member of my scene.
“I feel like the whole country has noticed they’ve missed something. They’re thinking: ‘How could this have been going on all this time?’ It’ll never be ignored again.”

“The real hydration comes from within. You can never drink too much water. No diet sodas! I think happiness is the best tonic for keeping us youthful. Being happy with who you are inside radiates on the outside.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicole Kidman suffers from dry skin.
The 50-year-old actress takes care of herself more now she’s getting older and the key factor when she’s looking for new beauty and skincare products is that they are “hydrating”.
She told W magazine: “The thing is to be healthy.
“Obviously, you need to use certain creams, and you need to use sunscreen, and you need to take care of yourself more. And that’s why even something that’s hydrating, because my skin tends to be dry, and my lips tend to be dry, so anything that says hydrating I’m like yes, please.”
And the ‘Big Little Lies’ actress is teaching her young daughters, Sunday, nine, and six-year-old Faith – who she has with husband Keith Urban – to get into the habit of protecting their skin from harmful sun rays.
She said: “Because I’m so fair, I recommend even my girls, like my little girls, they wear the sunscreen too, because one of them is dark, and one of them is fair.
“I’m just so religious about it. It’s just how I was raised, and it’s why my skin now is, I think, far less damaged than it could have been. Because I still go to the beach, it’s not that I don’t go to the beach, and it’s not that I’m not outside.”
Nicole – who also has adult children Isabella and Connor with ex-husband Tom Cruise – recently urged women wanting to have children to make sure they stay healthy for their kids, and explained it is more important to feel your best, rather than focusing on looking youthful.

Vogue usually works out six days a week, but suffered a serious knee injury while training for gruelling winter sports show ‘The Jump’ earlier this year, and feels frustrated that having to exercise less led to cruel comments about her weight.
She said: “I wasn’t able to walk properly for two and a half months and I put on a stone, maybe a stone and a half. I had lots of comments on my weight, and I was like, ‘Guys, give me a break, I’ve got a brace on my leg and I can’t walk.’ ”
However, the former ‘Bear Grylls: Mission Survive’ winner can also see the funny side of her altered shape.
She quipped: “I had a great time putting on the weight, anyway.”

“Caffeine is a no-no and alcohol can trigger anxiety the following day. But I do enjoy socialising and having a drink with friends, so when I’m not feeling the best the next day I live on camomile tea.
“I also take magnesium twice a day and do my best to eat healthily. It all helps, if only a little.”

She said: “I like the ease of it, you know what I mean? When I looked at the hair when it came off I was like you know this is…I’m so happy this is gone. It was a lot of wear and tear on that.”
However, the ‘Marshall’ star admitted her 13-year-old son Ryder – who she has with ex-husband Chris Robinson – wasn’t so keen when she first had her head shaved, because it was too similar to his own hair style.
Kate – who also has six-year-old Bingham with former fiance Matt Bellamy – told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “I copied Ryder. Ryder had it way before, Ryder’s been buzzing his head for a long time.
“Ryder’s like, ‘Mom, you’re cramping my style.’ But when I did it, he was like, ‘Oh my God, we actually …’ It was the first time he even could see that we looked, you know, that he looked like his mommy.
“Now it’s starting to grow out, and Ryder’s growing his out.”
Despite the dramatic change of look, Kate insists she wasn’t upset at losing her hair.
She said: “You can get caught up in the fact that, ‘Oh no, what happens if the identity that people see me as is like gone?’ I just don’t care, I just don’t think about stuff like that so, for me, I was just excited to get rid of all the old hair.”
And the ‘Almost Famous’ star understands it’s part of her job to be willing to change her appearance.
She said: “I think that when you choose to be an actor, you choose to be an actor to play roles that mean that you shift things.
“And there’s no preciousness to, like, what other people would see as something that they identify with you as. When you’re an actor, you sort of want to identify with different characters and different roles.”

The 36-year-old beauty – who has three children; Harry, eight, Belle, six, and Chester, two, with her husband Dan Baldwin – gets a lot of praise on social media for her no make-up selfies and she believes her secret to healthy skin is plenty of sleep.
She said: “I think skin has a lot to do with simple things- you can put a lot of things like moisturiser on your skin, and they do help but I think that what you’re doing is important.
“Sleep sleep sleep, is a really important thing, and I love sleep, it’s so hard to get sleep when you’re a mum of three.
“Look after yourself, having that head space to de-stress yourself, because stress comes out on your skin.
“Have a few moments in the day to just process what’s going on in your head, I think those sorts of things, you kind of glow from the inside out with those things.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Adriana Lima spends her days off applying mascara “over and over and over”.
The Victoria’s Secret Angel has a bizarre obsession with the lash lengthening and thickening product and loves nothing more than taking a shower with layers of the cosmetic on her face so she can watch it stream down her face – and then reapply it.
She said: “My favourite thing is applying mascara. I love mascara on the eyes. I like it to be very black, and I like when you just apply lots of layers.
“So on my days off, I just apply over and over and over. When I shower, the mascara runs over my skin, I wipe it off, and I apply it on top again. I absolutely love it.”
The 36-year-old beauty also confessed to having a “disgusting” beauty habit, which involves smearing her hair with avocado, but she insists the results are worth it.
Speaking to America’s InStyle magazine, she explained: “You guys are going to think this is disgusting. People don’t understand.
“I tend to really take care of my hair, but it’s very dry, so I do hair masks.
“You choose whatever is your favourite conditioner or hair mask, whatever, and then you take one avocado–I am not joking.
“You mash the avocado, you mix with whatever conditioner you have, you put it on your hair, and you put on a shower cap for like 15 minutes. When you wash it off, your hair is gonna be shiny, shiny, shiny!”
The Brazilian beauty tries to take great care of herself because she wants to live until she’s 150.
Asked the secret of her youthful look, she said: “I think it’s a combination of things. Your mind and state of being.
“You have to be happy where you are in your life, in every way-
in your job, in your age, everything. You have to be careful with what you eat.
“I want longevity in my life – I want to live until 150. I want to be in this business for a long time. You have to be careful. And workouts are important to keep your body moving. I want to be walking and running when I’m like 70, 80 years old. At the gym, I don’t want to be using a walker. No way!”

Claudia Schiffer sleeps in make-up

OHMYGOSSIP — Claudia Schiffer doesn’t take her make-up off before she goes to bed.
The 47-year-old supermodel insists it is fine to break one of the most well-known beauty rules when wearing an “amazing” smoky eye because it looks even better in the morning.
Asked her best beauty tip, she said: “Something really not allowed, sleeping with your make-up on.
“If you have amazing black smoky eyes and then you sleep on them, the next morning – amazing.”
The German beauty credits Karl Lagerfeld as one of the designers who changed her life, and it was advice from him ahead of her first catwalk show that has stuck with her throughout her career.
Asked the best career advice she’d been given, she explained in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar online: “Karl Lagerfeld, he actually said, ‘Just be yourself’.
“He asked me to do my first fashion show for him and I didn’t want to do them because I was very shy.
“He said, ‘Just walk out there and do what you want to do, walk out like you’d walk on the street’ and that sort of stuck.”
And Claudia admits her first-ever fashion show is still her favourite because it was so exciting, even though she was sick with nerves.
Asked which was her favourite, she said: “Maybe the first one, that was the most exciting, I couldn’t sleep all night long. I actually had a fever the morning of because I thought ‘I can’t do this’, but it was a great success so it turned out all good.”
The German beauty believes the fashion industry has changed massively from her 90s hey day to now.
She explained: “It’s much faster paced, more collections and everything is changing all the time to a speed a thousand times quicker.”
And for any aspiring models, Claudia believes the key to success is being open to anything.
Sharing her tips, she said: “Being available to do whatever the vision is of the photographer. ‘No’ doesn’t really work very well, unless it’s some indecent proposal, that would be OK, but be open to absolutely anything to get a great picture.”
