Nicolas Ghesquiere believes he put Balenciaga ‘back on the map’

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicolas Ghesquiere takes “responsibility” for putting Balenciaga “back on the map”.
The 46-year-old fashion designer took over the Spanish fashion house in 1997 for 15 years, and he has admitted he “underestimated how difficult” it was to take over the prestigious brand, but he thinks his “integrity” is what helped him turn the label around to be known as a recognised fashion house again.
Speaking to Document Journal Online about the struggles faced in his career, he said: “At Balenciaga, it was a transmission; I was carrying on for someone. I probably underestimated how difficult it was. You just go for it at age 25, and the context allowed my determination to work. I am proud of it. I take responsibility for having put Balenciaga back on the map, with integrity.
“It takes time to develop a proper collection, with commercial pieces and interesting pieces, it’s not something you can do in a week.”
And Nicolas – who is the creative director of Louis Vuitton – believes the fashion industry has drastically changed over time as he has hinted he is constantly churning out collections.
He explained: “We’ve made so many jumps in the last decade already. I used to do a collection every six months and today we have only two or three months. I was working simultaneously on collections; I had about six weeks in between to finish Cruise.
“Can people really absorb that many clothes and that much information in three months? For certain markets maybe, probably a more casual market or a market that is more immediate in its consumption but luxury needs time to develop, and it needs time to produce. I think waiting is something of a luxury now.”
And the creative mastermind also thinks the way consumers dress has “changed a lot”.
He added: “I think today women dress for themselves. That’s changed a lot. They dress for men, but they dress for themselves first. This is why I think there is a greater desire for high fashion now, and a willingness to take more risks. It’s a proud moment for fashion.”

Michelle Williams let Busy Philipps dye her hair pink

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Williams let Busy Philipps dye her hair pink.
The 37-year-old actress made the brave decision to let her 38-year-old pal loose on her blonde pixie bob, even though the ‘White Chicks’ star had been drinking alcohol, and Busy documented the makeover on social media.
Speaking in a string of videos on her Instagram Story, Busy said: “We’re going to dye her hair pink. What do you think? Is this a good idea? Alright guys, here we are. I am going to dye Michelle Williams’ hair. Are you ready?”
Although the hair colour was meant to stay on Michelle’s locks for “20 minutes”, Busy decided to cut down the time to one quarter of the time advised.
She explained: “You have to put it in for 20 minutes. I have it in my hand. It’s like pink slime. We will do it for like five minutes.”
However, the ‘Manchester By The Sea’ star – who has 11-year-old daughter Matilda with her late husband Heath Ledger – wanted to slash the time the dye was meant to stay on her hair even more.
Michelle replied: “Three minutes, two minutes, honestly like after one minute we should stop.”
Busy compromised with Michelle and after massaging the product into “the little pixie’s hair”, they planned to wash out the substance in “two minutes”.
As Busy slurped on a glass of wine, she said: “Guys, I am putting the pink in. I am massaging the pink into the little pixie’s hair. Michelle’s hair is going to be perfectly millennial pink. She is going to wash it out in two minutes and it is going to be amazing.”

Speaking about the criteria for her creations, she said: “That the colour not only looks good but feels good and the texture of it. Like with Mac, I used to be obsessed with the Lipglass, but it was just very sticky. So I wanted to make colours that are very beautiful but also comfortable to wear, and making sure it lasts and is good quality, but I also wanted to do it at a low price point for my fans to be able to enjoy it.”
Paris has released over 20 fragrances throughout her career and she has admitted her strong work ethic has been installed in her by her family when she was a child.
She said: “Ever since I was a little girl, I was really blessed to grow up in a family that really instilled work ethic into me and made me want at a very young age to be independent, to be a businesswoman, and that’s just something that’s always been through my veins. So I love now that I’m seeing all these other young women that are coming out with their brands, and makeup, and shoes, or whatever. I love seeing people being creative in that way. I’m all about girl power and being a girl boss, so it’s really cool to see so many of them out there.”

Penelope Cruz wants to do Donatella Versace justice in ‘The Assassination of Gianni Versace’

OHMYGOSSIP — Penelope Cruz didn’t want to be a “caricature” of Donatella Versace in ‘The Assassination of Gianni Versace’.
The 43-year-old actress plays the role of the Italian fashion designer in Ryan Murphy’s latest installment of ‘American Crime Story’, which is slated for release next year, but the star has admitted she struggled to perfect the 62-year-old’s accent, because she didn’t want to do an “imitation” of the mogul – who lost her brother in 1997 – but to “capture the essence” of her.
Speaking in an interview with fellow actress Gwyneth Paltrow for Interview magazine, the brunette beauty said: “I worked a lot with a dialogue coach to find the way that Donatella speaks, which is a little different from the way she spoke in the ’90s. The accent that she has, it’s Italian with a very international flavour–very rock ‘n’ roll. I didn’t want to do an imitation of Donatella, or a caricature. I wanted to try to capture the essence of who she is.”
And the ‘Vicky Cristina Barcelona’ star “really hopes” Donatella – who took over the Italian fashion house Versace after her sibling passed away – watches the show and is “happy” with the production, although she has no doubts certain scenes will strike a chord with the businesswoman.
Penelope said: ” This is a delicate story, because I’m playing someone who is alive, someone who lost her brother in a horrible way, and someone who still misses him very much 20 years later.
” really hope that when [Donatella] sees the show, she’s going to be happy. I’m sure there are going to be scenes that are hard for her to watch, because it’s a lot about the loss of her brother … I did it with all my love. From that place of devastation, she had to keep this company going in his honour. I don’t know if she ever said this, but it was a way of keeping him alive.”
Penelope stars in the production alongside Edgar Ramirez, who will play Gianni Versace and Ricky Martin, who portrays Gianni’s partner Antonio D’Amico.

Millie Bobby Brown runs ‘everything’ she wears through her entire team

OHMYGOSSIP — Millie Bobby Brown has to run “everything” she wears through “every person” on her team.
The 13-year-old actress has admitted she works with a stylist to ensure the garments she wears are “age appropriate”, but she will also have to check in with her parents Kelly and Robert, as well as her agents, to make sure they approve of her outfits.
Speaking to InStyle magazine about the process, the ‘Modern Family’ star said: “Everything I wear has to go through every person on my team. It has to go through my mum first. If she approves, it’ll go to my agents, and then, obviously, the last stop is my dad.”
Although the brunette beauty may get the seal of approval from her mother and members of her team, if her father has the final say, and if he dislikes the ensemble she cannot wear it.
She added: “And if he [Robert] doesn’t like it, then I’m not wearing it. It’s as simple as that.”
Millie has starred in campaigns for fashion houses including Converse and Calvin Klein, and the star has admitted modelling is “very close to [her] heart”.
Speaking about her role in the fashion business, she said: “Modelling is very close to my heart. I feel like just taking pictures is amazing. You’ll feel if you did a good job in that shoot – or if you feel like you haven’t, then you haven’t. But some pictures turn out to be iconic, and it means so much.”
Although Millie won the Breakthrough Performer of the Year gong at the Gold Derby TV Awards for her role as Eleven in ‘Stranger Things’, she still plans to continue “living [her] life” and go further with her education despite her successful acting career.
She said: “You know, I’m just a 13-year-old like any other 13-year-old, so I just plan on living my life and take it step-by-step. Hopefully, in five years’ time I will be in college. No, let’s say eight years … unless I get a really good movie. Then it’s, ‘See ya, college!’ ”

Cindy Crawford has ‘preserved’ her most memorable outfits

OHMYGOSSIP — Cindy Crawford was desperate to “preserve” some of the “incredible clothes” she has worn over the years.
The 51-year-old supermodel has “saved” some of the iconic garments she has worn throughout her career in an expansive closet because she wanted to conserve the memorable piece, including the black Versace dress she adorned to the VMAs in 1992 and the white John Galliano dress she wore on her wedding day.
Speaking in a video with Vogue magazine, the catwalk icon – who is married to Rande Gerber – said: “At a certain point, especially when I had enough room, I realized I had some incredible clothes from over the years that I’ve saved and wanted to preserve.”
And the fashion muse has revealed her 16-year-old daughter has her eyes on some of her iconic outfits.
Speaking about the statement dress she adorned to the star-studded bash 25 years ago, Cindy – who also has son Presley with her spouse – said: “I had seen this on the runway at a Versace show and I was obsessed with it, so I was like: ‘Hey! Can I borrow that?’ I think people really remember, it was one of those dresses that made an impression. And this was one of the dresses Kaia is like ‘I want this dress, where have you been hiding that?'”
And Cindy has had to “hide” her extensive handbag collection in a secret compartment in her wardrobe.
She said: “I have some beautiful, small, handbags but I have to hide them all in this draw down here. But some of my favourites that I just could not part with are some of these Fendi bags that, even though I haven’t worn them lately, to me they are like jewellery.
“I was obsessed with these, if you just look at the workmanship, they are just like art.”
But Cindy believes the fashion industry has drastically changed, as she never had a stylist to ensure she dressed well in everyday life or when she attended an event.
She explained: “I would say one of the biggest differences today from when I was a young model was that we didn’t have stylists. Of course when you went to a shoot there was an editor there and a stylist and they would dress you, but for your regular street looks or going to an event you just got your own clothes. Fortunately you had good connections.”

The 63-year-old model and actress thought it was “better” she was honest and spoke out about having Xeomin injected in her frown lines and skin-lifting Ultherapy on her neck area, although she worried people would think negatively of her.
Speaking about her anti-ageing beauty procedures to PEOPLE, the blonde-haired beauty said: “I wondered if people would think I’m phony and fake. But it’s better to be honest and say, ‘Yeah, this is what I do.'”
However, the star was “so afraid” about having Xeomin injections.
She said: “I was so afraid to do it. But I still feel like myself. I could still move my eyebrows and I feel like I have all my same funny faces. It was like a non-invasive pick-me-up.”
But Christie has hinted it is inevitable for women to want to have “a little something extra” done at some point in their life to reduce the signs of ageing.
She said: “But I’m almost 64. At a certain point, you might need a little something extra. When I look in the mirror, I want to feel like I look as good as I feel. “There are always going to be the people who build themselves up by pulling you down. But then there are the women who are supporting women.
