Bella Hadid’s favourite wardrobe staple

OHMYGOSSIP — Bella Hadid thinks trainers “look cooler” than any other type of footwear.
The 21-year-old model – who is the brand ambassador for Nike – has admitted she pairs “everything” with a pair of trainers, whether it is a tracksuit or a gown, because she thinks the flatter style of shoe is a lot more trendy than a stiletto.
Speaking to Footwear News about her style preferences, the brunette beauty said: “I would pair them with everything. I’ve worn sneakers with a gown, with a short dress, a long dress, sweatpants, tracksuits, shorts. You could wear them with anything. [They] always end up looking cooler.”
The catwalk icon has revealed her love of shoes started at a young age, as she used to buy high top Converse in the “craziest colours” just so she had a pair to match her different outfits.
She explained: “The first shoe I had every pair of was high-top Converse [Chuck Taylors]. I had the craziest colours, and I always had them match my outfits. Then I started to become obsessed with basketball sneakers and running shoes.”
The sportswear giant has recently teamed up with a number of designers to create a limited-edition collection of Nike Air Force trainers to mark the brands 35th anniversary.
And the catwalk icon has revealed her favourite trainers in the range are Virgil Abloh’s creation because she thinks his designs are “so personal” and “so distinct.”
Speaking about the Off White founder, Bella said: “I think everyone knows I love Virgil. His shoe is so personal, it’s so distinct, and it’s such a different shoe than you necessarily see all the time because of how personal it is.”

Iris Apfel reveals style inspiration

OHMYGOSSIP — Iris Apfel thinks being able to travel as part of her job has impacted on her style.
The 96-year-old designer has been working in the fashion business for over six decades, and the star thinks her ability to jet across the globe as part of her career has changed her style, but has also helped with her latest collection with HSN, which was also inspired by the new movie ‘Murder on the Orient Express’.
The businesswoman – who is known for her eccentric wardrobe choices – said: “My work within the textile industry began in the early 1950s with my husband, so I have a deep-rooted appreciation for fabric, texture, and quality.
“Our work afforded us the luxury of world travel, which has impacted my style over the years. As a result, both my experience and travels influence the luggage that I designed for this collection — the shape is reflective of the era in which the movie takes place.”
The mogul has admitted though she took inspiration from the era of the mystery film, based on the 1934 novel by the late Agatha Christie, she has “modernised” the collection, as well as keeping traditional elements, such as the insertion of pins, to refer back to the 30s era.
She continued: “However, I’ve modernised the design by adding small details such as gold hardware and tassels.
“All of the clothes in the collection were designed with the three lead characters as a source of inspiration, but it had to translate to accessible
“In the 1930s, women began wearing more accessories, so that movement is the inspiration behind the pins. The colours of the jewels are reflective of the tone of the film — rich and moody.”
Regardless of her age Iris is adamant she will “never stop” designing.
She told HelloGiggles.com: “My goal is to never stop creating, collaborating, and designing.”

Cheryl Tweedy doesn’t ‘trust anyone’ to pluck her eyebrows

OHMYGOSSIP — Cheryl Tweedy doesn’t “trust anyone” to pluck her eyebrows.
The 34-year-old singer has admitted she will carry out her own ablutions because she has had her fair share of “threading and waxing disasters” over the years, and the Girls Aloud band member thinks it is better to pull out stray hairs from her brows when she has just got out of the shower when her pores are open.
Speaking to HELLO! magazine about her beauty sessions, the ‘Fight For This Love’ hitmaker said: “Pluck your eyebrows when you’ve just got out of the shower or bath – your pores are open so it’s much easier. I do my own as I don’t trust anyone. I’ve had a couple of threading [or] waxing disasters so I get out of the shower and do [them], it’s less painful as I have such thick brows.”
And the star – who has seven-month-old son Bear with her partner Liam Payne – has revealed motherhood has drastically changed her beauty regime, as now she opts for a more “natural” look from day to day.
She explained: “Definitely natural because I haven’t had time to focus on creating looks with being a new mam. But when I go out I like to create more of a look, whether that’s a lip or an eye look.”
Cheryl has recently launched a new make-up collection with L’Oreal Paris, and the star has admitted it was an “incredibly interesting and inspiring” project working on the line.
Speaking about her latest venture, she said: “It was incredibly interesting and inspiring. I learnt so much information that I never knew. ”
And the style icon has revealed she is “obsessed” with the dark rouge lip kits from her collection.
She said: “I was obsessed with a dark lip after wearing it to the Vogue 100 gala dinner at the end of last year so I wanted to create something similar but warmer. The burgundy collection is my favourite. I’d wear it to make a statement or if I wanted the grunge look. If I was wearing a colourful outfit, the peach kit gives a more neutral look on the lips. The greige is more like a nude with grey tones, so if I wanted a more nude lip with a heavier eye I’d choose this.”

Mollie King thinks pyjamas are ‘sexy

OHMYGOSSIP — Mollie King thinks pyjamas can still look “sexy”.
The 30-year-old singer has been announced as the face of lingerie giant Boux Avenue, and the blonde beauty believes nightwear is coming back and a two piece short set can be made to look less frumpy and more appealing to the eye than a raunchy negligee.
Speaking to the Mail Online about her style preferences, the blonde-haired beauty – who is known for being in the band The Saturdays alongside Vanessa White, Una Healy, Frankie Bridge and Rochelle Humes – said: “The pyjama is back – they don’t have to be old, frumpy things any more. Certainly, with me, it’s a case of any excuse to wear them and nowadays there are so many options, anything from little cotton shorts and t-shirts to silk pyjamas.
‘You can look just as sexy in shorts and a t-shirt as you can a little negligee.”
And the ‘Hair Down’ hitmaker thinks women shouldn’t feel they have to wear “something sexy” to excite their lover in the bedroom.
She continued: “What’s appealing in a woman, or a guy, is an inner self confidence, intelligence and humour; it’s not about dressing up in something sexy.”
Mollie thinks the most important thing is for people to have “fun” when they are choosing their outfit.
She added: “Clothes should be fun and we should be able whatever we want to, especially at home when you’re in your comfort zone.”
Mollie is currently competing on this year’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, and the style icon – who has been partnered with dance professional AJ Pritchard – has been having a “ginger shot every day” as well as additional vitamin supplements to help her fight any colds.
She said: “I heard ginger was amazing for keeping colds away so I have been drinking ginger shot every day, alongside Berocca and Echinacea.
“It’s worked so far, and I haven’t been ill once. In fact, what with all the training we do – around 12 hours a day – I have actually never felt fitter.”

Maria Grazia Chiuri : ‘Dior has to be about female empowerment’

OHMYGOSSIP — Maria Grazia Chiuri believes Dior is about “female empowerment”.
The 53-year-old designer was appointed the creative director of Dior last year, and since taking on the role the star has made a point to speak out about femininity and encourage women to feel confident, although she doesn’t think she is an “activist”.
Speaking to Vogue Online, the creative mastermind said: “Because there was never a woman in that position [before].
“I don’t think that I’m an activist. Dior is about femininity. When I arrived here, everybody told me that. Okay, I said, we have to speak about femininity, but what does that mean today? I try to speak about women now, and for the future. Dior has to be about female empowerment.
“I know that there are a lot of nostalgic people that want a world that references the past and [Dior in] the 1950s, and I think the references of the past are beautiful, and I really appreciate our heritage. But if I’m a modern woman who wants a vintage dress I go to Didier Ludot and I buy an authentic Dior dress. If I go to the [Dior] store, I want something that speaks about the heritage, but in a modern way, for contemporary life. I know there are other points of view, and I respect those, but that’s my point of view.”
And the businesswoman – who previously worked for Valentino for over 15 years alongside Pierpaolo Piccioli – believes creativity in the fashion industry extends further than the catwalk.
She said: “As a designer, creativity is the first part of our job, but I don’t think that creativity only has use on the runway. It’s very important that the message you have in the show you also have in the [store] window, also in the merchandise inside the store. I have a huge team around me that supports me, but if you only do the show you lose the message.”
And Maria believes the business has drastically changed over the years, and she has high hopes for her future with the company.
She said: “Now fashion is another story, it’s not like in the past. Fashion [used to be] a big show to sell other products – if we speak about the Eighties, Nineties, there were the licences, you’d have a big show but after you sell other products. I want to sell it all – clothes, bags, shoes. We have to be honest. If we don’t speak about fashion as a system, in a real way, it’s a trick. We have to be honest with our consumer. We want to give very good quality, good creativity, but which you can also find in the store.”

Calvin Klein’s ex-wife helped him create his book

OHMYGOSSIP — Calvin Klein’s ex-wife Kelly Rector encouraged him to write his first ever book ‘Calvin Klein’.
The 74-year-old fashion designer has revealed his former partner – who the mogul was married to for 10 years from 1986 before they split in 1996 – urged him to create his own text because she felt it was “important” for Calvin to release a book before anyone else did on his behalf, which he would “hate”.
The creative mastermind – who launched his eponymous label in 1968 – told The Hollywood Reporter: “Many times Kelly said she felt it was important that I do this book. I’ve spent a great deal of time lately speaking at universities – to fashion people, business people, marketing students – and wherever I go in the world, they know the name and the brand, but I’ve been talking about how we did it, how we got there, and what we did. Kelly finally said, ‘If you don’t do [a book], someone else will, and you will hate it.'”
And the businessman – who has 50-year-old son Marci with his first wife Jayne Centre – has revealed he asked for Kelly’s help when he started working on the book, named after himself, which the pair spent “three years” creating.
He explained: “I realised she’s absolutely right, but I said, ‘Will you help me?’ We spent more than three years working together on it. It was great to work with her again, as we did many years ago; we shared the excitement of going through all the photographs and retelling all of these stories.”
Calvin has revealed his biggest “fear” when he was compiling the imagery for ‘Calvin Klein’ was that it may be “dated”.
Speaking about his concern surrounding his latest venture, he said: “That was my fear when I was working on the book: Would I feel that the photos we did for all those years, would they feel dated? But after the first two months [of working on the book], I was getting really excited about the process. If I were designing today, I could easily run many of the images that we produced back in the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s. We purposely juxtaposed different photos from different decades opposite each other. The vision is the same, regardless of photographer.”

Kendall Jenner’s beauty must-haves

OHMYGOSSIP — Kendall Jenner refuses to leave home without wearing mascara.
The 21-year-old model has admitted she “never” goes out in public without layering on the eye product, and she will dust a bit of bronzer on her cheeks because she likes to have a “natural glow”.
Speaking about her make-up essentials to Us Weekly, the ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ – who is the face of Estee Lauder beauty and has curated a Christmas make-up collection named The It List Kit – said: “These are my favourite products to create the perfect holiday look. It’s all about a bold matte lip, natural brows, luminous cheeks and full lashes. I don’t do too much to my brows, I just like filling them in and extending them a little, and the Brow Multi-Tasker gives me more control. Bronzer just makes everything look better, and I love a natural glow to enhance my skin’s radiance. And I never leave the house without mascara.”
The catwalk icon also loves the matte red lipstick in the line and she would love to wear the product “every day” if she could because she thinks it makes her look her “best”.
She continued: “The lip colour is very me and I would honestly wear it every day if I could. It really makes my lips look their best.”
And the reality star thinks it is essential for people to “smell good” in the winter when you are cuddling up to a loved one, and her favourite Christmas scent is Estee Lauder’s Modern Muse Le Rouge.
Asked about the one scent that reminds her of the festive season, Kendall – who is currently dating Blake Griffin – said: ” Modern Muse Le Rouge – It’s cold and you need to cuddle with someone, so you better smell good!”

And the star has revealed she has kept the exciting news a secret for “too long”, but she is “beyond honoured” to wear the showstopping centerpiece, which will be made of gold leaf and have sapphire embellishment.
Alongside a picture of the brunette beauty in an bedazzled bra, which she shared on her Instagram account on Wednesday (01.11.17), she wrote: “I’ve been holding this secret for too long and I am beyond honored to announce that I will be wearing the Champagne Nights Fantasy Bra this year! I am very happy and thankful for my Victoria’s Secret family for trusting me and all the support from my on family, friends and fans! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! its official!! (sic).”
Lais – who has son Alexandre – has admitted she feels “so powerful” wearing the unique design, which will come with its own belt attached.
She told Vogue Online: “You just feel so powerful wearing it, like all the hard work has paid off.”

Ashley Graham hasn’t ‘always felt confident’ in her body

OHMYGOSSIP — Ashley Graham hasn’t “always felt confident” in her body.
The 30-year-old model – who was the first plus-size model to appear on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 2016 – has admitted she hasn’t always felt happy about her appearance and her body shape, but she has encouraged people who are not so positive to strip down, embrace the areas they dislike about themselves and find their inner role model.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’ on Thursday (02.11.17), the brunette beauty said: “I haven’t always felt comfortable in my body wither. And I would look at her [someone uncomfortable in their body] and say ‘It’s just a moment in your life, and if you want change, it’s not a pill that you take, it’s not a boyfriend that changes your mind, it’s not a family member. It’s you.’ And I always tell women to get down to your bra and panties and look yourself in the mirror and say ‘ I love you back fat, you are my best friend. Thighs you are so sexy you can’t stop rubbing against each other.’ Start talking about the things you don’t really love and suddenly your mind changes and you’re the one that has to do it. Confidence is in there you just have to find a role model within you.
“I always tell myself ‘I am bold, I am brilliant, I am beautiful, and I can have and do whatever I want.’ And to have power changed my career. It changed my life.”
But the star – who is married to Justin Ervin – thinks it is “awful” curvier women are put into the plus-size category, even though it is the “average size” of a woman in America.
She said: “The average size of the American woman is my size, so to call us ‘the average’ but to then place us into the category of plus size is kind of awful.”
Ashley graced the runway for Prabal Gurung and Michael Kors during Fashion Week earlier this year, and the style icon is honoured the designers have “brought back curvy women” in the fashion industry.
She said: “This last season I walked in Prabal [Gurung] and Michael Kors’ show and it was an incredible honour. And I am so glad both Prabal and Michael brought back curvy women into their show. It wasn’t just this tokenism of having us in February, they brought us back in September and said ‘we are praising women with curves and all shapes and sizes’.
“I have been doing this for 17 years, and never in my life have I seen more curvy models on the cover of magazines, on television, their careers flying, more actresses on the heavier side and being praised for it. We are not just the big, funny girl. We are finally being looked at as a sex symbol. I think that is really where you are saying that it is becoming normal.”
However, Ashley has admitted breaking into the business hasn’t been easy and she was often told she would “never” make it as a model because her size was not the “norm”.
She explained: “It hasn’t [been easy]. And i have a lot of people tell ‘You’re not going to make it. You’re fat. You’re never going to accomplish all of the things you want to accomplish because of your size because this is not the norm in fashion and this is not the norm in media.’ And to have just overcome so much and just be able to tell young girls that you’re enough no matter how much back fat or belly rolls you have, it doesn’t matter.”

Kate Moss reveals beauty secret

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Moss plunges her face in a sink filled with ice and water when she wants glowing skin.
The 43-year-old supermodel has revealed when she is feeling “particularly tired” and needs to wake up her skin she will dip her head in and out of an ice-cold basin, which she sometimes adds cucumber slices to.
Speaking about her beauty regime to Selfridges.com, the catwalk icon – who has 15-year-old daughter Lila with her former partner Jefferson Hack – said: “If I am feeling particularly tired, just when I need a bit more of a glow, I stick my head in a sink full of ice and water and cucumber slices, and dip it in, come out, dip it in and come out, it kind of brings the blood to the surface or something. I don’t know but it feels like it works. Come up for breathe and then go back in.”
And the British star has revealed she takes “better care” of her skin than she used to when she was younger, and will wear any beauty products she can get her hands on.
She added: “I definitely take better care than I used to when I was a kid, but now I use all the tinctures, and the moisturisers and the eye creams, anything I can get my hands on.”
Kate partnered with the cosmetics company Decorté three years ago, but prior to joining forces with the label the fashion icon had “never heard” of the brand.
She said: “Three years ago I just got booked for a Decorté job. I had never heard of them before, because they are huge in Japan but they hadn’t come to England yet.
“I went to Tokyo and visited them there. They gave me some products and I sued them, and then I said ‘can i get some for my friends?’ and they used them, and everyone just keeps asking me for me because they actually do work and they are really, really good products. And I am really popular at the moment with my friends.
“My favourite product is the Vitality Tincture because it makes your skin look amazing. I add it to the intensive moisturiser and it just works.”

Stefano Gabbana opens up about romance with Domenico Dolce

OHMYGOSSIP — Stefano Gabbana was in a “lot of pain” when he split from Domenico Dolce.
The designers – who founded their designer label Dolce & Gabbana in 1985 – had been dating for two decades before they broke up in 2001, and though the end of their romance was hard to deal with at first, they wanted to continue working together because they did not want their brand to “explode” and be jeopardised.
Speaking to The Times newspaper, Gabbana, 54, said: “There was a lot of pain when we split.
“We broke our romantic relationship, but we continued to work together. Even now we can’t explain how we did it. But the end of a love affair is not a reason to plant a bomb and explode everything.”
But the creative mastermind has hinted their romance has helped them to have a more “sophisticated” work relationship and friendship.
He continued: “I think we have always had a lot of respect for each other. Before we shared everything, we shared sex. Now it is platonic, and in some way it is more sophisticated.”
The pair met when Gabbana was 19 years old and was keen to break into the fashion industry, even though he claimed he had no idea about the business, and arranged a meeting with Domenico, 50.
Speaking about his career, he said: “I didn’t know anything about it, but I was crazy about Fiorucci.
“I said to him to Domenico, ‘How will I recognise you?’ He said, ‘ I am tiny and I dress like a priest. I buy all my clothes at a shop for priests.’ I thought, ‘This is crazy.’ Then when I arrived at the party I saw him immediately all in black except for a dark grey shirt with a dog collar.
“I was not very fashion.
“I was very lucky to meet Domenico. We are so different but we often have the same point of arrival.
“I don’t know what it is, but we have it. We fight all the time, but after the fight what we are working on becomes Dolce & Gabbana, not just him, not just me.”
Gabbana believes budding creators should not strive to be in the business if they simply want to be rich.
The creative mastermind added: “You can’t start in fashion because you want to be rich. It has to be because it’s what you believe in. Fashion is not business. You can make it into a business, but s doesn’t start that way. The customer decides what is good.”

Giorgio Armani discusses ‘intense’ career

OHMYGOSSIP — Giorgio Armani says his career is “intense”.
The 83-year-old fashion designer – who founded his eponymous label in 1975 – has admitted he still loves his job because he thinks it motivates him to “keep going”, and though he has to juggle a lot he thinks his busy schedule is an “invaluable stimulus” and gives him an extra boost of energy.
Speaking to Glamour magazine, the creative mastermind said: “I like fashion because it forces you to keep going and to observe what’s going on around you. This is why I love my job and why I devote myself to it with passion. My days are really intense, but I must say that dividing my attention between many different things is an invaluable stimulus. It gives me energy.”
And the mogul has revealed regardless of his age he still faces challenges with the “same enthusiasm” he has had in him when he first started out in the business.
He explained: “I still face new challenges with the same enthusiasm I had right at the start. The motivation for this is always the same: to create something that makes a difference, that lasts over time, that responds to a need and expresses an idea of what is beautiful.”
The mogul – who has worked with a variety of stars including Richard Gere, Nicole Kidman and Viola Davis – believes creating garments is “simple yet complex” because he has to make a product that will make the wearer “unforgettable”.
He said: “My job is simple yet complex: devising a special look that enhances them and makes them unforgettable.
“Every celebrity has their own character and personality, and I work around that.”

Camila Alves on her changing body shape

OHMYGOSSIP — Camila Alves struggled to get used to how her “body changed” after giving birth.
The 35-year-old model believes ageing and having her three children Vida, seven, Levi, nine, and four-year-old Livingston – who she has with her husband Matthew McConaughey – has taken its toll on her slender frame.
The brunette beauty told Ocean Drive magazine: “You get older, your body changes. You have kids, your body changes.”
And the Brazilian-American style icon has hinted she has struggled to adapt to the changes, and she had to focus on how to be the “best person” she could be instead of dwelling on the change.
She said: ” And it took me to get to that mentality of ‘What’s my best self right now, with the life that I have now?’ It is very different than the life I had when I was single, and I didn’t have kids. So I’m trying to be the best person I can be today.
“Don’t let my calm spirit fool you. I still have my Brazilian feisty side of me. It’s the Latin in me. What I learned in being in so many cultures is understanding that nothing is really a big deal until it’s a really big deal. Real drama will come. That’s inevitable.”
Camila has admitted she was forced to be independent at an early age when she decided to leave her family and relocate to America to pursue her career in the fashion industry.
She said: “Growing up I had to make my own way. It was not like I was going to call dad to pay the bills. I know how to take care of a house so I started cleaning houses.”

Adwoa Aboah is the new face of Marc Jacobs Beauty

OHMYGOSSIP — Adwoa Aboah is the new face of Marc Jacobs Beauty.
The 25-year-old model launched her career in the fashion industry by gracing the runway in Marc Jacobs’ fashion show in New York, and the star has partnered with the 54-year-old creative mastermind again as she stars in the designer brand’s Le Marc Liquid Lip Crayon campaign.
And the catwalk icon has admitted it is a “dream come true” for her to follow in the footsteps of Kaia Gerber – who is the daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber – as well as Winona Ryder, and represent the company.
Speaking about her latest venture to Vogue Online, she said: “It’s a dream come true to be part of his vision.”
And Adwoa has admitted when she was growing up she would struggle to find make-up to suit her skin tone, which is why she has found it “really exciting” working with the mogul.
She said: “Marc Jacobs Beauty is really exciting for me; when I was at school I would always struggle to find make-up that suited my skin tone and I certainly wouldn’t find anything from a luxury brand. I’m glad that girls don’t have that problem anymore. “Diversity is something that’s important to me and it’s something you always see with casting for Marc’s shows.”
Although Adwoa has worked with prestigious fashion brands including Calvin Klein, Fendi and Alexander Wang, when she was younger she felt “very unattractive”.
Speaking previously, she said: “I looked a lot different to all the other girls. Everyone was blonde and blue-eyed. It was: ‘This is how you dress. This is how you do your hair, and you put loads of foundation on and wear high heels.’ And I was like, ‘F**k, I don’t even know how to be this person.’
“I felt very unattractive at that school. I based my worth on how many boys fancied me.”
