Ashley Graham reveals inspiration behind new swim line

OHMYGOSSIP — Ashley Graham designed her new swim line to make women feel “confident and sexy”.
The brunette beauty has teamed up with Swimsuits For All to launch her Essentials collection, and the 300-year-old model has revealed she created the range to “inspire” women to feel confident with their body, regardless of what size they are.
Speaking to ElleUK.com about her latest venture, the catwalk icon said: “I wanted to offer a range of swimsuit styles that make all women feel confident and sexy. Some traditional brands assume girls with bigger hips, breasts and thighs want to cover up, but I know that’s not the case. After my Swimsuits For All #CurvesinBikinis campaign had such a positive response from people everywhere, we knew we had to collaborate on a line to inspire women beyond body positive advertisements.
“You have to let go of all the silly thoughts like “my cellulite is showing” and realise that everyone has insecurities. The first step to getting over them is taking off that cover up and owning it.”
And Ashley – who is married to Justin Ervin – has admitted if she could give her younger self a piece of advice it would be to stay determined and continue to “make history”.
Asked about the words of wisdom she would pass on to her younger self, she said: “Don’t take no for an answer. Keep up the hard work, you’re making history, girl.”
However, the fashion icon cannot believe she has already hit the milestone, but since turning 30 she has become even more determined to “conquer” the fashion business and pursue other projects.
She said: “It’s funny because sometimes I think, ‘wait, I’m not already 30?’ because I’ve been working since I was 15. 30 is a whole new decade that I can conquer, and if it’s anything like my 20s, it’s going to be epic! I love the woman I’ve become and look forward to inspiring women of all ages for many years to come.”

Christopher Bailey quits Burberry

OHMYGOSSIP — Christopher Bailey has quit Burberry.
The 46-year-old fashion designer has decided to step down as designer of the British brand after 17 years at the helm of the company, but the mogul will continue to hold the title as President and Chief Creative Officer at the fashion house until March next year, the Business of Fashion Online has announced.
And the creative mastermind has admitted it has been “a great privilege” working for the prestigious brand, and working with an “extraordinary group of people” throughout his career.
Speaking about his departure, he said: “It has been the great privilege of my working life to be at Burberry, working alongside and learning from such an extraordinary group of people over the last 17 years.”
But Christopher has no doubts Burberry’s “best days are still ahead”, and the business will continue to grow in the future.
He continued: “I do truly believe, however, that Burberry’s best days are still ahead of her and that the company will go from strength to strength with the strategy we have developed and the exceptional talent we have in place led by Marco [Gobbetti]”.
And Christopher has revealed his future will see him work on “new creative projects”.
He concluded: “I am excited to pursue new creative projects but remain fully committed to the future success of this magnificent brand and to ensuring a smooth transition.”
Burberry’s chief executive, Marco Gobbetti, has hailed Christopher for being “instrumental” in the success of the brand, and though he is sad to see the mogul leave he believes Christopher’s “legacy” will propel the brand in the future.
He said: “Burberry has undergone an incredible transformation since 2001 and Christopher has been instrumental to the company’s success in that period. While I am sad not to have the opportunity to partner with him for longer, the legacy he leaves and the exceptional talent we have at Burberry give me enormous confidence in our future.
“We have a clear vision for the next chapter to accelerate the growth and success of the Burberry brand and I am excited about the opportunity ahead for our teams, our partners and our shareholders.”

Cindy Crawford on protecting children in fashion industry

OHMYGOSSIP — Cindy Crawford makes sure she discusses sexual harassment in the fashion industry with her daughter Kaia Gerber.
The 51-year-old supermodel believes it is important for people to be aware of the potential dangers in any business and to encourage others to speak out if they have been subjected to sexual misconduct.
And though the catwalk icon – who also has 18-year-old son Presley with her husband Rande Gerber – has had a “conversation” with her 16-year-old child about the topic, she hopes her brood are in a “new environment” where sexual harassment issues happen “less”.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about how she protects her family, which comes in the wake of sexual assault allegations made against film mogul Harvey Weinstein, the brunette beauty said: “It’s about having a conversation. It’s awareness. And hopefully she’s in a new environment, where [sexual harassment] will be less.”
Cindy has revealed she never discussed sexual harassment when she embarked on her modelling career, and though she was “hit on” by males she “always knew” how to get herself out of an uncomfortable situation.
She added: “I don’t have a ‘Me too’ moment.
“It’s not like guys didn’t hit on me, but I always knew how to get myself out of the situation.
“The more conversation about anything is how we move forward as a society.”
Kaia made her Fashion Week debut during the Alexander Wang show earlier this year, but Cindy has revealed she wished she could have delayed her child’s career from taking off so quickly.
Speaking previously, she said: “The great thing for my kids is that I know a lot about that world. I feel like, Who better to help guide them than me? … In some ways, I wish I could have pushed it off a year or two. But she’s 16. That’s how old I was when I started, which is young, but in fashion that’s kind of the normal age when people start.”

Calvin Klein is desperate to work with Vanessa Paradis

OHMYGOSSIP — Calvin Klein has been desperate to work with Vanessa Paradis.
The 74-year-old fashion designer – who launched his eponymous label in 1968 – has admitted he has “always” wanted to team up with the ‘Joe le Taxi’ hitmaker and cast her in one of his campaigns because he felt she was “a little androgynous” and different to other models at the time.
Speaking to InStyle Online about the 44-year-old star, he said: “I always wanted to work with the French actress Vanessa Paradis. I wanted a different look than the supermodels everyone was using. To me, she was a little androgynous with a boyish kind of figure, but there was something so beautiful and sensual about her too.”
And though the businessman had been name dropping to other notable figures in the industry, eh still didn’t get to work with Vanessa, although he was approached by supermodel Kate Moss.
He explained: “I had been mentioning Vanessa’s name to [photographer] Patrick Demarchelier, and then a few weeks later, he called and said, ‘Calvin, someone else just came into my studio that you should see.’ It was Kate Moss.”
Calvin has recently launched his own book, named after himself, which features a variety of campaign imagery he has created throughout his career.
And the mogul has revealed creating the tome has been “enormously satisfying” for him.
Speaking about his latest venture, he said: “It’s been an enormously satisfying experience to revisit all that I’ve created in one place. Throughout my career, I touched on so many different design areas, from clothes and beauty to underwear and denim. Yet from speaking at many universities, I realised people knew the name but they didn’t always know exactly what I did. This book is an opportunity to tell my whole story, the story of my life.”

Claudia Schiffer loves the seventies era

OHMYGOSSIP — Claudia Schiffer wants to go back in time and live in the seventies.
The 47-year-old model has admitted even though she was born in 1970 she felt she was “too young” to enjoy the era, and if she could be transported to another decade she would want it to be the time of the hippies because she loves the style of that time. Speaking to New York Magazine’s The Cut Online, the blonde-haired beauty said: “The 70s. I was born then but was too young to really enjoy the style.
“My mother and her friends looked so cool in their high-waisted jeans and blue eyeshadow, and my style now is very influenced by those memories. And the ’80s any day.”
And the star has revealed her favourite trend at the moment is “a mixture” of seventies and eighties style, and she particularly loves “slouchy suede boots” .
She continued: “A mixture of ’70s and ’80s. Slouchy suede boots and oversize sweatshirts.”
Even though the catwalk icon still likes to wear oversized clothing, she has admitted that over the years she has become more aware of what garments suit her and doesn’t need to experiment as much with her outfits.
She explained: “Everything I wore in the ’80s was oversize, including tops. I also tried out dozens of clothes in front of the mirror, whereas now I know what I like to wear.”
And it is not only Claudia’s style that is minimal, as she has revealed her beauty regime is very simple as she prefers to opt for a “no make-up make-up” look, which takes her “five minutes” to complete.
She explained: “No-make-up make-up. The five-minute beauty look from my range looks like me without makeup but better, so why wear none? I just add a touch of bronzer, curl my lashes, add some lip and cheek tint to get that “just ran around the block” flushed look and a pair of sunglasses, and I’m ready.”
But the fashion icon will be more adventurous with her nails as she will “always” wear a bright shade of polish.
She said: ” Always a bright colour — for me it’s like wearing another fashion accessory even if I’m just in a T-shirt and jeans. At the moment I’m wearing the Kingsman scarlet or the orangey-red Popsicle shade from my own range.”

Vogue Williams opens up about modelling struggles

OHMYGOSSIP — Vogue Williams was told to “lose weight” during her modelling career.
The 32-year-old Irish model has admitted she was urged to shed the pounds “a couple of times” during her career, and she wouldn’t get booked for certain modelling jobs because of her size, although she was adamant she was not going to change her appearance just to star in a campaign.
Speaking about the obstacles faced throughout her career, the blonde-haired beauty said: “In Ireland the modelling industry is less about being skinny. I’ve had agents tell me to lose weight a couple of times, but it’s not something I ever did. I am what I am and I don’t book certain jobs for that reason. I’d never change myself o my weight because someone else told me to.
“I was 17, but I think comments like that affect you at any age.”
And the ‘Bear Grylls: Mission Survive’ champion – who won the series in 2015 – has revealed she is still subjected to “fat shaming” and “skinny shaming” all the time, which she thinks is “disgusting”.
She said: “Even now. I can be fat shamed and skinny-shamed all in the same day. I don’t think it’s right that anyone should attack you so personally about your own body size or weight. It’s absolutely disgusting.”
Vogue – who is currently dating former ‘Made In Chelsea’ star Spencer Matthews – has revealed she “once” tried going on a juice diet, but she “couldn’t stand” forsaking her meals because she has an “obsession” with food.
She explained to OK! magazine: “I did a juice diet once but I only lasted until lunchtime. I couldn’t stand it” I have an obsession with food and i couldn’t bear not having the food I wanted. The only sort of crash diet I’ve ever been on was when I did ‘Bear Grylls: Mission Survive’, but that wasn’t an intentional one. I didn’t eat properly for 12 days and I lost a stone and a half, but within two weeks I’d put it all back on again. Dieting just doesn’t work.”

Thierry Mugler hails his fashion house ‘a miracle’

OHMYGOSSIP — Thierry Mugler has hailed his fashion house “a miracle”.
The 68-year-old fashion designer – who founded his eponymous label in 1974, which he stepped down from in 2003 – is proud he turned his company into a “global brand” on a very small budget, and he is honoured he has been able to work with celebrity legends throughout her career.
Speaking to Elle.com, he said: “The house of Mugler was a miracle, because we did it without much money. I built a global brand, and we did things that inspired so many people. I’m proud to have helped some amazing people express themselves in new ways.
“Yes, and I’m very proud of – what can I call it? – the science that we put into fashion. That special body-conscious cut that influenced the whole fashion world. Also, the idea of mixing arts on anything – on shoes, on objects, on accessories – this still inspires people.
“What I appreciate most in the world is to have met and befriended incredible geniuses, like David Bowie and Cyd Charisse and Celia Cruz, who was the goddess of salsa. I saw people kneeling on the streets for her. Which they did for me in Japan. That was really embarrassing.”
And the French creative mastermind believes the fashion industry “need [him] badly” to return to the business.
He said: “I think they need me badly. I think now it’s the money who tells the artist what to do–it’s not the artist who tells the money what to do. And things move very fast, which is hard, because sometimes you need more time to be creative. I guess no one has a loud mouth like I did. They don’t dare to scream loudly what they think. But you can’t take fashion too seriously.”
Though Thierry stepped down from designing almost 15 years ago he is still involved with his beauty line, and is set to release a new fragrance names Aura next year.
He said: “Fashion is beautiful, 3-D art on a human being. But it wasn’t enough, which is why I went on to create in other ways. For me, it wasn’t the right tool anymore. But perfume still interests me.”

And Leslie has revealed she has collected all of the change her grandparent used to put in a new bag for good luck, and has carried on the tradition whenever she gets a new accessory.
She explained: “My grandmother always put a penny in my bag. I don’t know if it was an old-fashioned thing or a good-luck thing, so I save all the pennies she put in my bag. When I get a new one, I always move the penny over.”

She continued: “My friend [designer] Julien Macdonald was like, ‘You, me and David are going to go and work out at Barry’s Bootcamp'”.

Thom Browne’s inspiration

OHMYGOSSIP — Thom Browne’s fashion inspiration is “very sophomoric”.
The American designer – who launched his eponymous label in 2001 – has admitted his creations are often based on the younger generation, and are not “as intellectual” as people would think they would be.
Speaking to Vogue.co.uk, the creative mastermind said: “For me, some of my inspirations are very sophomoric, and are not as intellectual as people think they are. The idea of this show is the very simple idea of two little girls dreaming: it’s what I thought of when I would think of two little girls dreaming. It was true fantasy, including unicorns, and mermaids, so it was a very charming kid’s story.”
Although the mogul’s latest creations are based around a fantastical theme, he has admitted he is “very serious” about his garments.
He said: “The clothing is not a joke. I am very serious about how the clothes are made, and the quality of what people see. Because I think that’s more of the fashion.”
Thom believes a fashion show should be creative and “tell a story”.
He explained: “I feel the shows should be conceptual. They should tell a story, and they should make the more plastic things that you do seem more interesting.”
Thom – who was awarded the CFDA’s Menswear Designer of the Year prize for three years – has only recently moved his womenswear line to Paris because there is more interest in his designs.
Speaking about the recent move, he said: “I have a strong and classic part of what I do.
“It wasn’t really about wanting to leave New York per se. It does seem that there’s a bigger audience. And also an audience that appreciates more of the conceptual side of what I do.”
“The simple idea–not simple in actualising it–but the simple idea of taking my classic American fabrics and redeveloping it all in a fabric that I thought was very French, which was the tulle. And then also utilising tulle in a way that I don’t think is used very much, in a very tailored way.”

“I’ve learned to enjoy the moment. It goes by so fast.”

“I try to tell myself not to slip.”

Speaking to WWD about her encounter with the head creative director of the French fashion house, the blonde-haired beauty said: “I actually do remember the first time I met Karl. It was my first fitting for my first Chanel show that I got, and obviously you expect for Karl to be there in the fitting when you get there, but I wasn’t quite prepared because the second I walked into the building Karl and Anna walk out together, going to lunch — and I hadn’t met either of them [yet].”

“I don’t think she sees herself stepping away from this brand for many years. She’s doing this because it’s really her passion. It’s so authentic to who she is, because she’s been wanting to do this since she was a little girl. To see her have this kind of success with something she really loves has been really great.

Meanwhile, Bella has revealed she feels “too nervous to eat” when she is on a date, and would much rather sip on a cup of coffee and amble around the Serpentine instead.
Asked about her ideal first date, she said: “When you are feeling extremely self-conscious and excited, sitting side by side is easier than face to face. So I’d go for a walk around the Serpentine and probably end up having a black coffee in the cafe. I’d be far too nervous to eat.”

Grace Coddington doesn’t wear ‘cheap’ clothes

OHMYGOSSIP — Grace Coddington refuses to wear “cheap” clothes.
The former creative director at large of American Vogue magazine has revealed she always shops at the French fashion house Celine because she loves their tailored trousers and she doesn’t think she can “get away” with wearing less expensive products at her age.
Speaking about her wardrobe choices in the beauty edition of ES Magazine, which is available on Thursday (26.10.17), she said: “The cut of their trousers is very, very good, and the shape of the cashmere sweaters — slightly classic, but slightly modern, too. I can fit into them. I have their Crombie coats, and that’s about it. I can’t get away with anything cheap at my age. It has to be a certain quality or it just looks terrible.”
The red headed icon has revealed she often uses social media and boasts a “huge gay and transvestite following” on various sites except Snap chat, which she has described as “snap-crap”, because she thinks it’s a waste of time.
She explained: “I have a huge gay and transvestite following. But also, all these very young kids. I think they know I’m a very positive person who will not take no for an answer. Even from my boss.
I do Instagram, but none of the others like Snapchat or snap-crap. I don’t even know what they are that I don’t do! They’re time-wasters. There’s one thing: if you have more followers, you can ask for more money. But I’d have to post something every day. And I just can’t be bothered.”
Grace announced she was leaving US Vogue last year, but she has still praised the publication for transporting her away from the “tiny place” she lived.
She said: “I ordered Vogue every month from the local store. For me, the magazine represented an amazing fantasy world of sophistication and grown-ups. I dreamt of getting away from the tiny place I was raised.”
