Tinie Tempah’s mother inspired his love of fashion

OHMYGOSSIP — Tinie Tempah has credited his mother with helping him find his love for fashion when he was growing up.
The rapper-and-designer – whose third collection ‘The Real World’ will launch at London Fashion Week tomorrow (06.01.18) – revealed how his mother Rosemary Okogwu sparked his interest in fabrics and the art of turning them into something someone could wear to express themselves.
Speaking to The Evening Standard newspaper, he said: “I would say the whole process of making clothes and textiles came from my mum.
“She used to go and buy fabrics from factories in Germany and Switzerland … That’s where I used to see my mum buy this much fabric, give it to a lady and that lady would turn it into a dress.
“I am of Nigerian heritage so in that culture – the weddings, funerals – they have all these beautiful, beautifully extravagant fabrics. From there, I had an interest in it.”
The 29-year-old star – whose real name is Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu – added that his mum is honest about the clothing he creates under his What We Wear brand.
He admitted: “[She will] always tell me whether she likes my stuff. She is a tough customer. [I can rely on her to] be really blunt and honest with me.”
While Tinie is excited to launch his third collection, he also revealed that he’s not always had a perfect record when it comes to his own style.
He said: “I used to love fake brands at markets. Good fake stuff, and I would go in to school and I’d feel like a G.”

Dua Lipa stresses the importance of fashion freedoms

OHMYGOSSIP — Dua Lipa thinks it’s important people feel free to wear “whatever the f**k they want”.
The style-conscious musician has stressed the need for people to feel uninhibited with their fashion choices, saying she’s against putting any trends in a “box”.
She reflected: “Everyone is allowed to wear whatever the f**k they want, and it’s so important that they do.
“This is the way we move forward in the world. We have to break the norms. If women wearing womenswear is deemed normal, women wearing menswear should be normal, too. But normality is a tricky one. It’s putting things in a box, and it shouldn’t be like that. Because what is normal, anyway?”
Dua is particularly fond of her own Vetements boots, which feature flames from their broad platform.
The boots have been a hit with her ever-increasing Instagram following, but she admits that they’re not always practical.
Dua told told Refinery29: “Obviously, I can’t wear them every day, or as much as I want to. But my dream boots are always something I could never wear every day; just something I want to put in a glass box and keep forever.”
Despite this, Dua revealed she’s always keen to “explore and try new things”.
She explained: “I always try to find designers that are up and coming, especially when I’m in a certain city.
“If I was in Berlin, for example, I’d try to wear designers from there. It’s important to explore and try new things, and grow with those designers that are up and coming since I’m an up-and-coming artist, too. This way, we can grow and change together.”

Lily Cole: I’m a workaholic

OHMYGOSSIP — Lily Cole has admitted to being a “workaholic”.
The 30-year-old model and actress has confessed to spending an unhealthy amount of time on her work, but Lily also insists that since giving birth her to her two-year-old daughter Wylde, she has managed to find a better balance in her life.
Lily said: “I’m a self-confessed workaholic and I do like to have different things on the go, but becoming a mum has made me more balanced and disciplined about when I’m working and I make sure I have time with my daughter when I’m not – she’s brought more balance to my life.
“I ensure I have enough quality family time so I can focus on work at other moments.”
Lily explained that motherhood helped to ease some of her work-related pressures.
The British beauty told Psychologies magazine: “It’s great to have hours of doing nothing or just exploring; being with my daughter gives me permission to not have to achieve anything for a period of time – I can just be.”
Lily admitted last year that becoming a mother has been a life-changing experience for her.
The model – who has her daughter Wylde with partner Kwarme Ferreira – said: “Having a baby
is totally life-changing. It’s like
there’s the person I was before, and the person I am afterwards.”
Lily also explained that while she is undecided how many children she wants to have, she doesn’t want a large family.
She said: “I’m one of two children, and that to me feels like a nice number.
“I don’t judge
 people who have
more than two but personally I think
it’s quite good to replace yourself on
 the planet. I might
 have a second, and
I might decide not to have a second at all –
it’s all possible right
now. I might have a second and really feel like I need a third.”

Chrissy Teigen won’t wash her face

OHMYGOSSIP — Chrissy Teigen is refusing to wash her face.
The ‘Lip Sync Battle’ star has joked that she’s going die “covered in acne” because she doesn’t want to put any cleansers onto her face for fear it’ll ruin her eyelashes.
Taking to her Twitter account, she said: “I refuse to wash my face and lose these eyelash extensions. I will be covered in acne and die with beautiful, fluffy lashes.”
The brunette beauty then uploaded a short video of her fluttering her eyelashes and she said: “I just want you guys to know that you should really get eyelash extensions in your lives. They’re kind of life changing. I think I’m addicted. This is unpaid.”
And, although she’s splashed the cash to ensure her eyelashes look beautiful, the 31-year-old model has admitted she doesn’t wear much makeup on a daily basis.
She said recently: “It’s not like I was going out and buying that much makeup. It wasn’t something that was a priority for me, and I still want things that lean natural and beautiful.
“I don’t think makeup is made to cover up your skin. It’s to enhance your skin. You want to look fresh and rejuvenated and hydrated, and I feel like our palette really does that.”
Meanwhile, Chrissy – who is expecting her second child with her husband John Legend, whom she already has 19-month-old daughter Luna – recently admitted to having liposuction on her armpits in order to make her feel more confident in dresses.
She said: “I had an armpit sucked out, which was one of the best things. It’s a big secret, but I don’t care. It was nine years ago or so. And I had two inches to my armpit. Now it’s back though, so now I’ve gotta pay for [liposuction] again. It was so easy. It made me feel better in dresses; I felt more confident. It was the dumbest, stupidest thing I’ve ever done. The dumbest, but I like it, whatever. I have no regrets, honestly.”

Agyness Deyn: Modelling never felt real

OHMYGOSSIP — Agyness Deyn admits modelling “never felt like reality” to her.
The 34-year-old star has made the transition from modelling to acting during the course of her career, and Agyness has admitted that there are some marked differences between the two professions.
She explained: “When I stopped modelling, everyone was like, ‘Are you f***ing crazy?’
“I wanted to differentiate what I wanted to do. It wasn’t about money and it wasn’t about profile, it was about fulfilment and learning something and being afraid and getting excited.
“The thing about being a model is, you can’t change the way you look. So then you just have to work hard, show up on time, look healthy, not have been out all night, not be a t*** and be nice – but there are so many other variables to being an actor.
“The way you look is one part but there’s your innate soul quality plus the creative embellishment on top. You just follow your instincts and put the pieces together. It enables you to be a real person and modelling never felt like reality.”
Agyness made a quiet start to life as an actress, but she admits that her appearance in the film adaptation of ‘Sunset Song’ has proven to be a turning point.
Now, Agyness now looks back on her lean years in the business with fondness.
She told the Metro newspaper: “I did have a quiet start, but I learnt so much about the craft and myself.
“My mum always said, you can walk away from anything and feel OK if you’ve put in 1,000 per cent. If I prepare and learn and listen and watch and be this sponge, it might be OK. So far, so good.”

In fact, Davina revealed she hopes Dwayne will soon reply to her message, because she wants to marry the American star.

The 28-year-old actress is stunned she’s joined the likes of Julia Roberts, Kate Winslet, Penelope Cruz and Lupita Nyong’o in fronting campaigns for the beauty brand to embrace her individuality and celebrate her “inner radiance”.
She said:” How is this real?
“Lancome is about inner radiance. Think of how infectious Julia Roberts’ smile is.

“That’s something my mum has always taught me, the quirky things are what make you beautiful.”
And the ‘To the Bone’ star has a number of Lancome products that she can’t live without.
She’s a big fan of their Energie De Vie Overnight Recovery Sleeping Mask because it makes her skin feel soft and smooth.

The 38-year-old reality star has ousted her sister Khloe Kardashian – who didn’t appear in this year’s top 30 – from the number one slot in the publication’s annual chart of women who work hard to promote a positive attitude to body confidence, thanks to her organic, sugar-free lifestyle and lessons in nutrition she teaches her three children, Mason,
eight, Penelope, five, and three-year-old Reign.
Close behind Kourtney in second place is Davina McCall, who previously held the title in 2015 and 2016.
The 50-year-old presenter – who has previously battled drug and alcohol addiction – doesn’t seem to be looking to get back on the top spot as, after giving up sugar, she’s now looking for “naughty” habits to adopt.
She said: “I must stop giving things up. I need to take up something that’s bad for me. Maybe I’ll start riding a motorbike. I need to take up something naughty.”
But one thing Davina won’t be quitting is caffeine because she loves tea so much.
She said: “I’m like, eight cups a day and I double bag sometimes. That’s when you know it’s serious.”
Beyonce, 36, took third place, while actress Jennifer Lawrence, 27, and singer Louis Redknapp, 43, rounded out the top five.
heat’s editor Julia Davis said: “Our annual Fit List is packed with women of all shapes and sizes who will inspire you to love and respect your body from the inside out. These kick-ass women have earned their place for the way they have challenged their bodies, their dedication to feeling strong and sexy and for making the most of their shape.
“Healthy lifestyles and an even healthier attitude to the way they look have made them our body image heroes and we bow to their awesomeness…and hope a little bit of it rubs off on us too.”

She added: “I think that this collection reflects my personal style more than ever.

Chrissy Teigen boycotts Dolce and Gabbana

OHMYGOSSIP — Chrissy Teigen has refused to wear Dolce and Gabbana since they made controversial comments about fertility treatment.
The ‘Lip Sync Battle’ star – who has been open about the struggle she and husband John Legend faced to become parents to daughter Luna, now 19 months – hasn’t worn items from the designer duo’s label since they discussed their opposition to gay adoption and branded children conceived via fertility treatment “synthetic” in a 2015 interview.
Chrissy made the revelation while addressing the treatment of YouTube personality Logan Paul, who sparked a huge backlash when he posted a video depicting the body of an alleged suicide victim in Japan in a clip he has now deleted and apologised for.
The 32-year-old model – who is pregnant with her second child – wrote: “Re: Logan Paul, something I always think about is when people make…ethical mistakes, as in, not-illegal, should we really be trying I ruin their lives and end their careers or accept the apology, personally make a choice to stop watching, and move on.
“An example I have is with a certain clothing company. Years ago the designers said things I personally found horrible about IVF children. I made the choice to simply…never wear or purchase again instead of trying to ‘end them.’ (sic)”
Meanwhile, in 2015, stars including Courtney Love, Sir Elton John and Ricky Martin vowed not to wear Dolce and Gabbana again following the family comment controversy.
The row was sparked by an interview conducted by Italian publication Panorama, in which Dolce was quoted as saying: “Wombs for rent, sperm selected from a catalog… Who would agree to be the daughter of chemistry? Procreation must be an act of love, now not even psychiatrists are prepared to deal with the effects of these experiments…
“You are born and you have a father and mother. At least it should be like that. That’s why I’m not convinced by what I call chemical children, synthetic babies.”
The design duo, a former couple, later branded the boycott “medieval”.
Gabbana said: “Boycott Dolce & Gabbana for what? They don’t think like you? This is correct? This is not correct. We are in 2015. This is like medieval. It’s not correct.”
His design partner said his stance was based on his own Sicilian upbringing but insisted he “respects” other people’s views.
He said: “I believe in the traditional family. It is impossible to change my culture for something different. It’s me… I respect all the world, all the culture.”

Mary J Blige is vain

OHMYGOSSIP — Mary J. Blige has only just realised she is “vain”.
The 46-year-old star went make-up free for her role as beleaguered matriarch Florence Jackson in ‘Mudbound’ and she admitted it wasn’t “easy” for her to dramatically change her appearance.
Speaking as she accepted the Breakthrough Performance Award at the 9th Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala in California on Tuesday (02.01.18), she said: “Playing Florence was a heavy experience for me. But I’m so proud to have had the opportunity to walk through this strong woman’s shoes.
“It wasn’t easy at first to find this character because I didn’t realise how vain I was until I had to play a character like Florence.
“Seriously I had to leave a lot of myself behind, a lot of Mary J. Blige behind. A lot of wigs, a lot of lashes, a lot of makeup, a lot of nails, you know the whole thing.”
Last year, Mary split from her husband Martin ‘Kendu’ Isaacs, and working on the movie helped her cope with her heartbreak.
She added: “Playing Florence was so therapeutic for me and I poured a lot of my personal pain into her. And she healed me. She healed parts of me that I didn’t even realise were broken.
“So connecting with her was a blessing for me personally. I know she was aside me the whole time because my whole family is Southern. And when were kids, my mom would send us to Georgia in the summers. My grandmother and my aunts are this woman, Florence.
“They’re strong and they knew how to move their husbands without saying a word. She was in my DNA so I knew I walk like a Southern woman, speak like a Southern woman. I guess I am a Southern woman at heart.
“I know being a part of ‘Mudbound’ changed my life and I think the story that it tells can change other lives. There’s a negativity in the world right now. So we need more films like this to remind us that we are all connected and that history is truly shared.”

Karlie Kloss helps launch adidas Alphaskin Performance Layer

OHMYGOSSIP — Karlie Kloss has helped to launch the new adidas Alphaskin Performance Layer range.
The 25-year-old beauty models the sportswear giant’s revolutionary new designs – which are intended to empower athletes in training and competition – in an advertising campaign.
Of adidas’ exciting range, Karlie explained: “Designed to support, breathe and move with me, Alphaskin tells my body it’s time to train.”
Alphaskin is distinguished from traditional base layers because the new design matches the body’s movement in competition.
As a result, athletes needn’t worry about any unwanted distractions as they exercise.
Rob Lee, the Vice President of design for adidas Training, shared: “We’re committed to creating only the best for athletes and that’s exactly what we’ve done with the disruptive design of Alphaskin.
“After taking a deep dive into their movements, needs and culture, we created a performance layer that keeps up with all of those elements.”
Rob also revealed that adidas conducted extensive research before creating its latest designs.
He shared: “By using our highly advanced ARAMIS system instead of a traditional static mannequin for testing, we were able to understand how to make Alphaskin and athlete’s bodies move as one.
“This allowed us to create a wrapped performance layer that truly dials into the movements of athletes across all sports.”
What’s more, adidas has announced that Alphaskin offers kinetic wrapping in a number of different compression levels, meaning there is a fit that suits the personal preference of each and every athlete.

Alexis Ren: Time is an illusion

OHMYGOSSIP — Alexis Ren thinks time is an “illusion”.
The 21-year-old model has wished her Instagram followers a happy 2018, but has also revealed she doesn’t consider time to be “real”, arguing it is merely an “agreement/illusion”.
Alongside a photo of herself inside a car wearing a red bikini top, Alexis wrote: “even though New Years isn’t real cause time is just an agreement/illusion I still think it’s dope we can all set intentions as a collective to better ourselves. f**k it (sic)”
Alexis has previously claimed to be “wise” beyond her years.
The brunette beauty – who has modelled for the likes of Calvin Klein and L’Oréal during her career – thinks she’s more self-aware than most people her age, because she has already experienced so much in her life.
Speaking in 2016, Alexis explained: “I think I’ve lived more in five years than a person has in their entire life.
“Because of how much I’ve gone through, I want to say I’m more wise than my age.”
And Alexis accepts that dealing with the adulation of fans is now part and parcel of her daily life.
Asked about the devotion of her followers, Alexis replied: “I just honestly accepted it as part of the job, and I learned how to enjoy it.
“I will never get tired of it, because I’ve already accepted that’s part of my job, and it would be rude of me to be like, ‘But I don’t like that.’
“If I can make a girl’s day by hugging her, hell yeah, I’ll hug the crap out of her. I will kiss her on the cheek. I will love her. I will take as many photos as she wants. That’s how I’ll always be.”
