Dilone’s ‘glad’ unisex fashion is ‘finally being taken seriously’

OHMYGOSSIP — Dilone is “glad” that unisex fashion is “finally being taken seriously”.
The 24-year-old model – who’s full name is Janiece Dilone – has opened up about her successful modelling career, which kicked off when she walked the runway in Marc Jacobs’s fall 2016 show, and how “very fortunate” she is to be in the fashion industry at such a “diverse time” and freely wear “boys’ clothes”.
She told the London Evening Standard’s ES Magazine: “I grew up on Long Island and wore a lot of Abercrombie.
“When I moved to New York City, that was the first time I really felt comfortable wearing the clothes that I wanted to wear, which were boys’ clothes.
“I’m so glad that unisex fashion is finally being taken seriously.
“I came in at a great time – I feel very fortunate.”
Dilone also admitted that she is bored of talking about diversity and thinks having a women of colour on the cover of magazines shouldn’t even be a talking point anymore.
She continued: “But at the same time, I am tired of talking about diversity. Let’s stop talking about how great it is that you have put a black girl on the cover.
“It is great, but everyone has read it a hundred times now and I think they get numb to it.”
Dilone also shared how being a model has allowed her to “pursue interests” that her parents’ “couldn’t afford” when she was growing up.
She explained: “I am so grateful to be modelling because it has allowed me to pursue interests that my parents couldn’t afford.’
The American beauty is also “shooting for the top” and is working with an acting coach to go for “big” onscreen roles in the future.
She continued: “It’s a great way of getting out all the things I want to express — like my righteous anger. I’ve been going on auditions and I am working closely with my acting coach, but I haven’t booked anything yet. We’re going for big roles — I’m shooting for the top.”
The full interview appears in this week’s issue of ES Magazine, Thursday 25th April 2019.

Amy Schumer ‘conscious’ about what beauty products she uses

OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Schumer is “conscious” about what beauty products she uses since becoming pregnant.
The 37-year-old actress – who is expecting her first child with husband Chris Fischer – has partnered up with Beautycounter, after her long-time friend and independent consultant Shea advocated the “clean” cosmetic brand to her.
And Amy admitted that she reached out to the company and wanted to adopt a cleaner lifestyle when she found out she was pregnant because she wasn’t just “taking care” of herself anymore.
She said: “Beautycounter is a clean beauty brand. I just love them as a company, I reached out to them to ask if I could get involved because of your [Shea’s] passion for it.”
She added: “Now that it wasn’t just me taking care of my dirtbag self, I was like, ‘There’s also a baby living in me, I should also be conscious of the products I’m using.'”
The ‘Snatched’ star also loves to apply oils on her collarbone because it makes her feel like she’s walked out of a “shiny waterfall”.
In a video for Beautycounter, she explained: “I like to put a line on my clavical, a shiny clavical is like a huge turn on for a lot of people. People want to all look like they’ve walked out of a shiny waterfall.”
The ‘I Feel Pretty’ star previously admitted she has found the whole pregnancy really “tough”.
Sharing a photo of her pet dog on Instagram, she wrote: “The last few days have been tough. I’m grateful as hell and know it’s temporary but tough just the same. Please if you don’t mind. Post pics of your kids and tag me #amyschumer. My friends sending me pics and vids of their kids is making me feel so much better. Much love accepting dog photos too. (sic)”

Michelle Pfeiffer ‘adores’ women in ‘great suits’

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Pfeiffer “adores” women who wear “great suits” and has a number of favourites in her wardrobe that she loves to wear.
The 60-year-old actress is known for her timeless style when she is on and off the red carpet, and the star opened up about her personal wardrobe consisting of “old hippie” and “classic” designs, and different suits by luxury couturiers.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she said: “My personal style is old hippie meets classic design. The designers I wear most combine the two in varying degrees.
“I adore a woman in a great suit. In my closet, I have suits from Saint Laurent and Alexander McQueen, and a new white Armani that I love!”
Among the other favourite items in her wardrobe are her boots which she wears “all summer long” and her Birkenstock sandals.
She added: “I have quite a selection of Birkenstocks. I also wear boots all summer long, like Stevie Nicks. My favourite accessory is hoop earrings. I’ve worn them since I was 12 years old.”
The ‘Batman Returns’ star – who has children Claudia, 26, and John, 24, with husband David E. Kelley – created five genderless scents with her company Henry Rose after she stopped wearing perfume when she found most ingredients used were not listed by various brands which meant she could not know if they had been tested safely.
She continued: “I founded Henry Rose because I wanted to create a line of fine fragrances that didn’t compromise quality for safety. My interest in ‘clean beauty’ started when I became a new mother. Prior to that I always assumed that if a product was on our shelves it must be regulated. It seems common sense, that ingredients should be proven safe before they go onto our skin.”
The ‘Dangerous Minds’ star created different scent “memories” within her collection that have a special meaning to her, and the actress’s particular favourite from the collection is ‘Torn’ because it reminds her of her dad Richard.
She said: “As we were formulating the perfumes, the smells kept bringing me back to my childhood memories involving scent. Without realising it at the time, I was trying to capture my father’s cologne in the first fragrance, Torn. It’s also the one that’s geared toward my taste.”

Blake Lively credits mother for teaching her about fashion

OHMYGOSSIP — Blake Lively credits her mother for teaching her about “fashion”.
The 31-year-old actress played Serena van der Woodsen in teen drama series ‘Gossip Girl’ – which focused on a group of friends growing up in New York’s Manhattan district and ended in 2012 – and whilst the star readily admits she learnt “so much” from the show’s costume designer Eric Daman because she figured out how to create looks she was “comfortable” in, Blake insists it was her mother Elaine who first showed her how to be “creative” and “expressive” with style.
Speaking to ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ actress Sydney Sweeney for InStyle magazine, she said: “Well, everything I know about fashion is from my mama. She’s so creative and expressive in her choices. But then being on the show, I learned so much from the incredible costume designer Eric Daman. I also figured out what I was comfortable with.”
The ‘A Simple Favour’ star recalled when she attended an event wearing a dress she was “uncomfortable” in because it didn’t fit right, and admitted that it taught her a valuable lesson for future red carpets.
She said: “For one of my first events, I wore a dress that I was so insecure in, but I was told that I couldn’t back out because it was made custom and it would hurt my relationship with the designer. It didn’t fit right though, and everybody knew it was a mess. “Whenever I look at a photo from that red carpet, I can see how uncomfortable I was in my own skin. I’d never do that again.”
Blake – who has daughters James, four, and two-year-old Inez with her husband Ryan Reynolds – is trying to “adopt” the KonMari method, which is a system of simplifying and organising your home by getting rid of physical items that do not bring joy into your life, but she “hasn’t yet” because everything in her closet makes her happy.
She added: “I think it’s [My style has] changed more as I’ve gotten older. There are lots of cute little baby-doll dresses in my closet from my early 20s that I know I’m not going to wear them again because I’m not in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane.
“I really need to adopt the Marie Kondo method, but I haven’t yet because everything in my closet still sparks joy. My style is, hopefully, becoming more elegant over time, but I still like pink and some frills.”

Serena Williams’ fashion line has to be ‘highest quality’ for Duchess Meghan

OHMYGOSSIP — Serena Williams says her fashion line has to be of the “highest quality” for Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
The 37-year-old tennis star has been friends with the former actress – who was known as Meghan Markle before marrying Prince Harry last year – for several years and the sportswoman claims her standards threshold is for the garments to be “fit for a royal princess” after the royal was spotted in the S by Serena boss blazer back in October during her royal tour of Australia.
She said: “Listen, if we’re giving our stuff to Meghan, it has to be the highest quality that we can get. So, that’s what I tell our team internally: ‘We have to make sure it’s super high quality that, you know, is fit for a royal princess!’
“I’ve been trying for years and years to do something in fashion. I’ve been doing this for so long and it’s never hit. It’s so easy when you’re so successful at something else to just do that and keep being amazingly successful at it. But that’s not the story I wanted to tell. And I always felt like if I didn’t at least do it one more time, a 100% with my backing, that I would always have some sort of regret.”
Serena has “always loved fashion” and recalled when her mother, Oracene Price, would make clothes from patterns she found in Vogue magazine.
She told the Business of Fashion: “I’ve always loved fashion. I remember when I was a kid, my mom used to make all our outfits. Back then, they had Vogue patterns. I would always see her pinning them and making all our clothes. And she taught us how to sew early on. So, I used to sew clothes for my dolls out of old socks and I would cut them up and make little outfits out of them.”
The 23-time Grand Slam champ – who studied fashion at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale in Florida from 2000 to 2003 – also confessed that her own fashionista training came in handy when she swapped pattern making for her professional tennis career.
She added: “I remember one time playing a tournament and, after I won, I put on a skirt to take a picture and my skirt broke. Everyone in the locker room was like, ‘Oh, the seamstress left.’ And I’m like, ‘Well, did she leave her stuff?’ And they were like, ‘Yeah,’ so I said, ‘I’ll get it.’
“Yeah, it was just a simple stitch, you know, I could have hand-sewn it too,” she says gamely. “And everyone’s jaws were on the floor!”

Hailey Bieber ‘most inspired’ on the beach

OHMYGOSSIP — Hailey Bieber feels “most inspired” when she’s on the beach.
The 22-year-old model is constantly jetting off to shoot in various locations around the globe and says that although there are many countries that influence her beauty looks and style, she feels “very beautiful” while soaking up the sun.
In an interview with America’s Glamour magazine, she said: “When I’m shooting in Europe, or I’m on set in Paris, London, or Milan, or when I’m doing fashion shows, I get a lot of make-up inspiration that way.
“But with beauty in general, I feel the most inspired when I’m on a beach. I feel very beautiful in that environment”.
Hailey – who is married to singer Justin Bieber – went on to share her top beauty tips and insisted it’s all about highlighter when she creates her make-up look.
She said: “Learning exactly where to place highlighter–like the right spot on your nose, a little on your Cupid’s bow, on your cheekbones but not too low. It’s all about watching how it hits the light.
“I’m a big highlighter fan. I also love tricks like using blush on your lips, lipstick on your cheeks, or lip gloss on your eyelids. It actually makes a big difference.”
The blonde beauty added that she feels it’s “bulls**t” that all cosmetics are healthy to use on your body.
She said: “Something that I know for a fact is bulls**t is that using any make-up on your face is fine. Or that using anything you bought at the store is OK for your body or your skin. If it’s not a healthy product, it’s usually bad for you.”

Manolo Blahnik says the perfect heel height is 50mm

OHMYGOSSIP — Manolo Blahnik believes the perfect heel height is 50mm.
The 76-year-old shoe designer – who launched his eponymous designer label in the late 1970s – has created legendary footwear over his long-spanning career, including those which have famously graced the soles of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex throughout her pregnancy and Sarah Jessica Parker in her ‘Sex And The City’ modern Cinderella storyline.
And now Manolo has revealed that he has “never” seen a shoe that truly compares to his because there is so much “trash around” and believes the ideal heel height is small so it allows a woman’s body to “move”.
He told The Times newspaper: “God, there is so much trash around, so many horrible shoes. There is a Balenciaga shoe that looks like a horse. No, not a horse, horses are too glamorous. Some kind of monstrous animal. Real horrible.
“I have seen every shoe I have done in the last 10 years. Exactly the same as mine but not mine.
“[50mm is the ideal heel] It’s easy to walk and you still have movement of the body.”
And the creative mastermind is hoping “gloves” make a comeback because he “loves” them on women.
He added: “I belong to another era. Another education. Another social… I don’t know what you call it. I love hates. I want gloves back, women with gloves. I am dying for that.
Maybe I am one of those things that is just left over but I keep fighting to preserve it.”
Manolo also credits former editor-in-chief of Vogue, Diana Vreeland, for spotting his talent for designing incredible shoes early.
He continued: “I wanted to get into theatre. I don’t know why because I don’t like actors very much. I have friends who are actors, but they are cliquey. I had sent her all my drawings. My ‘A Midsummer Nights Dream’ costumes, with shoes with laces up to hear and cherries wrapping round. She said ‘Do extremities young mam.’ I still say it to myself.”

Taylor Swift wanted her gown to be ‘ethereal’ for Time 100 Gala

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift had a hand in designing the “ethereal” gown she wore to the Time 100 Gala in New York City on Tuesday night (23.04.19).
The 29-year-old singer was in attendance at the exclusive event after being named by the magazine as being one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2019, alongside the likes Ariana Grande, Emilia Clarke and Lady Gaga, and the pop superstar stepped out in a dusty pink hand-pleated gown with floral embroidery and a custom bolero which was created by J. Mendel.
The fashion brand’s creative director Gilles Mendel has now revealed that the ‘Reputation’ hitmaker helped him make her perfect dress for the gala and told him she wanted the garment to be made up of “pastel colours” and “soft tones”.
Gilles said: “Taylor always has a very strong point of view; she’s really extraordinary in how she transforms herself constantly.
“She always comes to me with an idea; in this case, the theme was pastel colours and soft tones. Luckily, my recent spring collection was very much about those tones, these beautiful pale citrus colours. So we started with my spring palette, and from there, we built up the dress. Taylor wanted a really ethereal, hand-pleated moment, which is something we’ve always done so well.”
And Taylor came up with the idea for the custom bolero to give the gown “volume” and so Gilles “developed” the silk cover to add definition to the stunning dress.
In an interview with the New York Post newspaper’s Page Six Style section, he said: “That bolero didn’t come from me – it was her. She had the vision of having some sort of cover that would give it a different volume than just a basic dress. So we developed, with our Gilles Mendel touch, this little hand-pleated, silk- sleeved bolero cover that I thought came out really stunning.”

Jennifer Garner prefers jeans to dresses

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Garner isn’t a “dress girl” and prefers to wear “jeans”.
The 47-year-old actress was named 2019’s ‘Most Beautiful Woman’ by PEOPLE magazine and the Hollywood star has now revealed that despite maintaining a fuss-free approach to fashion, she will often take “pretty” gowns that she’ll “never wear” with her on holiday because she “loves” the way they look.
Speaking to People TV, she said: “Every time I’m leaving town, I take all the clothes I never wear because you look through your closet and you think, ‘I love this. Why don’t I wear this? It’s such a pretty dress,’ but in reality, when I get there, I look for jeans and my sneakers. And I don’t know why I try to pretend like I’m suddenly going to be dress girl, because I’m not, unless I’m put in it.”
Jennifer also lifted the lid on her daily beauty regime and revealed that she washes her hair every day because of her intense exercise regime.
She said: “I work out pretty hard so I almost wash it every day. But I don’t like blow it out. I walk around with wet hair. But I just feel like, ‘I’ve showered! Don’t I get a gold star? What more do you want from me?'”
The ’13 Going on 30’ star – who has children Violet, 13, Seraphina, 10, and seven-year-old Samuel with ex-husband Ben Affleck – likes to hit the gym as often as possible because she loves “food” and wants to be able to eat calorific treats that she enjoys.
She added: “I try to work out every day but like any mom, you’re juggling and you take it day by day. I do see it as part of the job.
“I don’t always stay at the same weight, I like food so if I need to knock a few pounds off I guess I could. I know how to do it, I just don’t want to!”

Elizabeth Olsen uses ‘placenta serum’ on skin

OHMYGOSSIP — Elizabeth Olsen uses “placenta serum”.
The 30-year-old actress has opened up about the daily beauty ritual she swears by from the French luxury brand Biologique Recherche and how it instantly cured her “weird chin issue”.
She said: “Lately I’ve been having some weird chin issue. I’m not sure if it’s a rash or a breakout or something else. It’s been around for two months, so this morning I did something different. I used the micellaire water from Biologique Recherche, and then the P50 exfoliant.
“Then I went to my refrigerator, where I have the placenta serum from the line, and put that on, thinking it would heal my chin. It’s one of those water-based serums, and it absorbs immediately. It sounds crazy, but Biologique Recherche works.”
Olsen also credited A-list skincare guru Yonat Zilberg for transforming her skin.
She added to Page Six: “A friend told me about Yonat Zilberg, a facialist in the Valley, and she uses Biologique Recherche. She completely changed my skin. I find it hilarious now when a friend will ask in a whisper voice, ‘Did you try a little Botox?’ No, I have a very expressive face. But I use P50!”
The ‘Avengers: Endgame’ star has dry skin and uses hydrating products which she “layers” on to keep her complexion looking fresh and glowy.
She continued: “I have dry spots. My nose is dry, and my chin, with the weird skin thing going on, is drier than usual. So it’s about layering serums and moisturizers. I’ve been putting on Augustinus Bader cream before we do makeup.
“Then I do Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen SPF. I really hate the way the bottle looks. It’s not sexy. I want my products to look sexy in my bathroom. Supergoop clearly doesn’t, but it leaves such a nice finish on my skin.”

Jennifer Lopez almost didn’t wear Versace dress at 2000 Grammy awards

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Lopez almost didn’t wear her iconic Versace green dress to the 2000 Grammy awards.
The ‘On the Floor’ hitmaker credits the plunging emerald gown as her “biggest fashion moment” to date, but the 49-year-old star revealed that the look was created just a few days before she stepped on to the red carpet and only because she had left looking for a gown so late, there was very little to choose from.
She said: “Probably my biggest fashion moment ever was wearing the green Versace jungle print dress. I was nominated for a Grammy that night and I was filming ‘The Wedding Planner’ at the time with Matthew McConaughey and I was out in the middle of nowhere where we did the horseback riding scene and my stylist comes in and she’s like ‘The Grammys are tomorrow’.
“I had no time to do a fitting and she brings like three of four dresses, she was like ‘There’s nothing out there, you guys waited too long, I’ve been trying to do a fitting with you for weeks’.
“So on the day of the Grammys I’m getting ready I’m doing hair and make-up. Usually if you come to a fitting of mine, there’s, like, tons of dresses. There’s always so many choices. But this day, we really had a choice between two dresses. One was kind of like a white dress, and the other was the Versace jungle-print dress.”
And the ‘Medicine’ hitmaker’s stylist Andrea Lieberman originally discouraged her from wearing the jungle print dress because Donatella Versace had already worn it to the 1999 Met Gala, but Jennifer’s longtime friend and manager Benny Medina was “adamant” that it was the one.
In her new YouTube series ‘Moments of Fashion’, she added: “I put on the green dress and come out and Benny goes, ‘That’s it. That’s it. Don’t even talk about it. That’s the dress!’ And of course my stylist is mortified. She’s like, ‘No! It’s been worn before!’ But the guys were so adamant that it was an amazing dress, and we said ‘Ok’.
“The only concern was whether or not my boobs were gonna pop out onstage because it was so low-cut, we literally laid double stick down and we stuck the dress to it and went out. There was never any danger of that. I was so securely stuck into that thing that there was gonna be no mishaps.”

Alexa Chung finds ‘brushing’ eyebrows ‘relaxing’

OHMYGOSSIP — Alexa Chung finds “brushing” her eyebrows “really relaxing”.
The model-turned-designer shapes her own brows rather than visiting a salon and though she religiously uses a spoolie tool on them, she admits that could be what “stimulates” their growth and makes them bushier – but still doesn’t care.
She said: “I find brushing my eyebrows really relaxing. I don’t know if brushing them is stimulating their growth and giving me a Frida Kahlo situation, but I’m really happy with them. I don’t get them threaded, I just do them myself.
“Suqqu has this khaki green coloured brow pen. Apparently, it’s really good because it doesn’t look like you’ve actually coloured in your brow. It’s more of a shading.”
And Alexa, 35, chooses to wear “foundation less” when the weather gets warmer and opts for a La Mer concealer to keep her complexion looking bright and flawless.
She added: “I’ll get rid of some of last night’s make-up, with some La Roche Posay make-up remover and a cotton bud. Then it’s moisturiser – Augustinus Bader is my new thing, but it’s hideously expensive. When that runs out, it’s a bit of whatever is in the cupboard. Maybe Kiehl’s Ultra Face Cream. And then I think I’m like a lab technician and I’ll drop fancy oils in it, like Rodin Body Oil or whatever. And then I put it on.
“Then as we’re going into spring, I wear foundation less – I like it to be natural. I like Glossier, or RMS Concealer or La Mer Concealer. Then I’m curling my eyelashes and putting Dr Paw Paw Balm on my mouth. I have little tiny iron filings for eyelashes. Blusher I’m a little wayward with – I’m not a faithful lover. But it will be a blush over a bronzer, usually a cream type one, and always coral one. For mascara, I like Charlotte Tilbury for night and Glossier for the day.”
The brunette beauty is devoted to hairdresser George Northwood, admitting using the services of someone else for a cut doesn’t “work out” for her.
She told Vogue UK: “I was working recently with longer hair, and they asked me if I’d ever had a bob. And I thought, ‘Isn’t that my thing? I think that’s my thing’, and it reminded me to get it cut again. I only see George. I might need to go to couple’s therapy with that. I did try and see other people, we were in an open relationship for a while because we were doing long distance, but it didn’t really work out for me cut-wise. I don’t mind seeing other people style-wise, but cut-wise I’ve had too many a dodgy thing done to it to trust again”
