Winnie Harlow wants beauty line

OHMYGOSSIP — Winnie Harlow wants to release her own beauty line.
The 24-year-old model – who suffers from vitiligo, which is characterised by depygmentation of the skin – has “a lot of ideas” that she’s keen to develop over the next year.
Asked if she’d release her own beauty collection, she said: “I have a lot of ideas I would like to bring to the forefront.
“When I do swatches, if I’m trying to figure out a shade for someone else, I do them between [my patches] so I have a really good take on what works for different skin tones because of this thing that I’ve been blessed with.
“So you may see something in the new year.”
Winnie is pleased the beauty industry now caters to more skin tones than it used to when she was first buying make-up for herself.
She told Britain’s HELLO! magazine: “I do my own make-up and I’m really into skincare. I always have been.
“I remember going to the drug store and seeing five or 10 foundation shades available. It’s amazing that brands are coming out with 50 and 60 shades now.”
The Canadian model is following in the footsteps of the likes of Lady Gaga, Chloe Sevigny and Ariana Grande as the face of MAC’s Viva Glam line – which raises money for the MAC AIDS fund – and she’s proud to be involved.
She said: “I’m so honoured to follow in the footsteps of amazing artists like Lady Gaga.
“Working in fashion, I’m surrounded by many types of beauty and I strongly feel that the contributions of the LGBTQ+ community are both prominent and embraced in the fashion world.”

Diane Keaton doesn’t understand online shopping

OHMYGOSSIP — Diane Keaton thinks online shopping is “crazy”.
The ‘Book Club’ star – who has two grown-up adopted children Dexter, 24, and Duke, 19 – has opened up about the “great joy” of visiting brick-and-mortar stores and insisted she doesn’t understand why her daughter would want to browse for fashion online because you never know if a garment is going to look “good” on you.
She said: “My daughter, Dexter, is an online shopper. I think she’s crazy. Part of the great joy is just being in the stores. It’s sad what’s happening to them.
“They’re just closing, and people are doing exactly what you’re telling me [buying online]. It’s like, ‘Stop! How can you do that? You don’t know what it’s going to look like on you!'”
And Diane loves to shop around for “unusual designers” and swears by Ralph Lauren suits as a staple in her wardrobe because they’re so well “structured”.
Opening up about her favourite stores, she added: “I like Egg in London. Comme des Garçons. Noodle Stories in Los Angeles, Dover Street Market.
“They carry all these unusual designers doing all kinds of things. I like Thom Browne, and I still love Ralph Lauren suits. They’re so well structured. And [Maison] Margiela.”
The 73-year-old actress went on to reveal that her mother, Dorothy, inspired her film career and always encouraged her dreams.
She shared: “My mother ran for Mrs. America [a pageant for married homemakers, in 1955]. I’m sitting there watching her on the stage, and I remember I thought, ‘I want to do that.’ And that’s it.
“Once you have that, it guides your life. I was ambitious about wanting to sing, wanting to be paid attention to. It came straight from that. My mother was really an artist herself, and she could’ve had an amazing career. She just wasn’t born at the right time.”

Irina Shayk: I don’t want to look perfect

OHMYGOSSIP — Irina Shayk doesn’t want to look “perfect” all the time.
The 33-year-old model may be known for her flawless complexion both on and off camera, but the Russian beauty has revealed she has “bad skin and hair days” like everyone else and she doesn’t need to always be at her best.
She said: “I’m not this stiff model who sits there and wants to look perfect. I’m not perfect. I have bad skin days and bad hair days. Sometimes I don’t look like a model. I’m just a real human being.
“I never was this kind of person who was like, ‘I want to look pretty.’ I thought I would be, I don’t know, a teacher, or something related to piano because I went to music school for seven years. I really didn’t have a plan.”
And Irina – who has two-year-old daughter Lea De Seine with ex-partner Bradley Cooper – likes to be in control of her own life and not have assistants plan everything for her.
She added: “People think I have a team of like 20 people, but it’s going to make me more nervous to have somebody else to help me. I think I like to be not helped.
“I’m a Capricorn. I really like everything to be in place. In my house, everything is perfect. If I need to put a nail in the wall or move a sofa, oh yea, I can do it.”
The striking brunette went on to reveal that she is “comfortable” in her own skin and has never let anyone dictate how she should live her life on her rise to becoming a model.
Speaking to the digital edition of Harper’s Bazaar US, she said: “I’ve had agents who said, ‘Oh, you have to cut your hair, lose the wig.’ And I was like, ‘Not happening.’ You have to know what you want and you have to stick with your decisions.
“People will tell you, ‘You’re too skinny, you’re too fat.’ You have to learn how to love you and be comfortable in your own skin. If you really love you for who you are, I think you can do anything.”

Olivier Rousteing wants to promote inclusivity in the fashion world

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivier Rousteing is committed to promoting inclusivity in the fashion industry and insists he needs that new energy “if it’s going to survive”.
The 33-year-old fashion guru proved his commitment to inclusivity it by inviting 2,000 people from all different backgrounds to attend his Balmain Spring/Summer 2020 show during Paris Fashion Week in June.
The French designer brought those people with him to Paris because he wanted his show to be modern and create excitement.
She said: “I just wanted to bring more people in that love fashion! Everybody talks about inclusivity in fashion, but what about doing inclusivity properly? I sometimes feel that bringing people in from the outside gives you more energy.
“Everybody who works in fashion uses the words ‘chic’, ‘modern’ and ‘cool’, and the meanings started to be overused and a bit dated, so I wanted to bring more energy in. Fashion needs energy if it’s going to survive. I want people to be excited and curious about fashion again.”
Olivier became the creative director of Balmain aged just 24, and the designer has insisted he has been advocating for inclusivity and diversity in his collections since he got the job in 2011.
Speaking to British GQ, he said: “Of course, I feel responsible with so many things to do with fashion. Fashion can talk about so many different topics: #metoo, diversity, inclusivity, sustainably. I think fashion can become political depending on the way you show your clothes.
“The thing is with Balmain, of course you can put me and it in a box of just being glamour and flashy clothes on boys and girls, but if you look a bit deeper you can see that I was one of the first creative directors to push for diversity in my collections, since 2011, when I became creative director at 24-years-old.”
And Olivier went on to admit the Balmain customer has changed in the eight years he’s worked there because men are “not scared to be feminine” and want to “show off their bodies” more than ever,.
He added: “Menswear counts for 40 per cent of the Balmain business now. We’re selling a lot more colour to men than we used to. They’re buying pink T-shirts, for instance, which they wouldn’t have done eight years ago.
“They’re also buying more embroidered jackets because they want to feel glamorous. More and more men want to just show off their bodies and not scared to be feminine.”

Stella McCartney Beatles’ line inspired by Yellow Submarine

OHMYGOSSIP — Stella McCartney has unveiled a Beatles collection inspired by their 1968 animated film ‘Yellow Submarine’.
The 47-year-old fashionista – who is the daughter of the group’s Sir Paul McCartney and his late wife Linda – has designed a collection, named ‘All Together Now’, based on the Liverpudlian 60’s group, which also consisted of band members John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, for her fall 2019 menswear and pre-fall 2019 womenswear collections.
And Stella was inspired by George Dunning’s 1968 Beatles musical ‘Yellow Submarine’ – which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year – for select pieces throughout the range because it “championed themes of unity and solidarity”.
She said: “It affected me in a way I just wasn’t expecting.
“It’s shockingly modern to me that these four young guys from Liverpool were championing themes of unity and solidarity. This idea of connecting people has never been more relevant.”
The designer’s collection – which is priced between £235 to £4,550 – is available in stores and online now, and consists of an 85-piece range of apparel and accessories for men, women and children.
Stella was thrilled when her father agreed to let her design the Beatles-inspired line and promised to do more than just “replicate” their “iconography”.
She added: “I wanted to take the Stella McCartney woman – and the heritage ingrained in me – and pump the whole thing up.
“There’s so much paraphernalia from The Beatles already on the market. The band says no to 99.9 per cent of collaborations, so I wanted to take the lightness of heart into a collection that speaks to yesterday and today – not just replicate their iconography.”
The celebrity dresser – who is known for being sustainable and using alternatives to leather, fur and PVC when it comes to producing her clothes – also went on to reveal she enjoys keeping her garments sustainable and vegetarian because it adds to making her collections “authentic” and “politically relevant”.
She told British Vogue: “I’m not perfect, by any means, but I’m trying very hard to create a different business model for fashion.
“I don’t want to participate in the mass murder of animals and the environmental destruction this creates, outside of the overwhelming waste in the industry.
“Designing in a timeless way is key to sustainable fashion, and this is a collectable collaboration you won’t want to throw away. It’s emotional, authentic and, politically, it has never felt more relevant.”
The ‘All Together Now’ collection is available at Stellamccartney.com and select stores worldwide.

Kim Kardashian West ‘painful indentations’ on body from Met Gala corset

OHMYGOSSIP — Kim Kardashian West had “painful indentations” on her body from the corset she wore to the 2019 Met Gala.
The 38-year-old reality star donned a stunning beaded, silicone dress by French couturier Thierry Mugler for the annual fashion extravaganza, but to achieve her extra-cinched waist, Kim wore a custom-made, nude corset – which included Spanx that stopped just above her knees – by the acclaimed French couturier Mister Pearl.
However, the ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ star revealed that her silhouette came at a price because she had “never felt pain like it”, and even had marks on her back and stomach where the corset was laced so tight.
She said: “I have never felt pain like that in my life.
“I’ll have to show you pictures of the aftermath when I took it off — the indentations on my back and my stomach.”
And when asked about the controversy surrounding fans speculating whether she had ribs removed to squeeze into the corset, she simply replied: “I don’t even know if that’s possible.”
Kim – who previously admitted she’s had breathing lessons by Mister Pearl in preparation for the prestigious event – insisted that her own shapewear line, which is yet to be renamed following the backlash from fans after it was called Kimono, will be less painful than the corset she donned in May, and concentrates on “smoothing” and being like a “second skin”.
She told The Wall Street Journal: “The feeling when I had to wear that corset, (the shapewear) is not that.
“It’s the second skin that makes me feel comfortable and cozy and all smoothed.”
The striking brunette previously revealed that it took three assistants to strap her into the bodysuit, but admitted the whole looks was “worth it all”.
She wrote on Instagram: “We met up in Miami right after the holidays last year and saw the sketches! I learned so much about couture from this genius man, it was beyond couture, it was art! 7 months in the making and fittings in Montreal, Paris and LA. Corset breathing lessons from none other than Mr. Pearl. It was worth it all!!!”

Bridget Malcolm suffering from severe ‘body dysmorphia’

OHMYGOSSIP — Bridget Malcolm is suffering with severe “body dysmorphia”.
The 27-year-old star has opened up about being in recovery from her eating disorder from the last two years in a candid blog post, and the Victoria’s Secret model revealed the “feeling” of her own skin makes her “feel uncomfortable”, but she has to remain strong and remember she is not “cured” so she doesn’t “slip back into old habits”.
Writing on her official website in a piece titled ‘Life In Eating Disorder Recovery’, she said: “For two years now, I have been fortunate enough to be in recovery from my eating disorder. But I must never forget that I am in recovery. I am not cured. And I have to exert fairly constant vigilance on myself, to make sure that I don’t slip back into old habits.
“My body dysmorphia is particularly bad right now. There is no reason why — I have not gained weight, and I have not lost weight.
“For some reason though, the feeling of my skin is making me extremely uncomfortable. I would love nothing more than to reduce the size of the human I see in the mirror. And I know that if I do, I endanger my life and everything in it.”
The Australian model admitted she is “sceptical” when people claim to have overcome their addictions because she finds it “hard to believe” there will ever be a time when she isn’t “obsessing” over her food intake.
She added: “Whenever I hear someone claim that they are cured of their addictions, I can’t help but feel sceptical. For something as relentless as an eating disorder, I find it hard to believe that someday I will not find myself obsessing over what I have eaten.
“It took most of my life to get into this thought process. I expect to spend real time learning to live around it. Because moving away from any addiction is utterly terrifying. You are left without a form of self containment. All that remains is the intense craving to go back to your dangerous safe place, a craving that you cannot give in to, or you risk dying. The day that I decided to eat, was the day that changed everything.”
Bridget went on to explain she will continue to have “faith” in her body and “avoid mirrors”.
She continued: “So, for today, I will continue to commit to my three meals a day. I will exercise in a way that gives me strength and faith in my body – not in a way that diminishes my size, energy and capabilities. I will meditate. I will avoid mirrors as much as possible. And I will throw myself into my life and relationships with all the energy that eating properly allows me.”

Behati Prinsloo: Modelling career changed my style

OHMYGOSSIP — Behati Prinsloo’s modelling career “changed her style”.
The 31-year-old Victoria’s Secret Angel – who has two-year-old Dusty and 13-month-old Gio with husband Adam Levine – is known for her boho-chic looks both on and off camera, however the model has revealed her own personal wardrobe became “elevated” when she began her career in 2006 because she was learning so much from people in the “industry”.
She said: “I would say that my career has affected my style more than becoming a mother. I have just learnt so much from people in the industry. I have always loved fashion and I love watching people express themselves, so becoming a mother hasn’t really changed my style – I feel like it just elevated that a bit. I love jeans, that’s what I always lived in and I still live in them.
“I think I have always felt so lucky in my career and in my life as a model and I have always felt so grateful for the opportunities that I’ve had. I think after becoming a mother, I definitely have become more selective because I want to spend as much time with my kids, especially as they are so young.”
The Namibian beauty went on to explain that whilst social media is great at giving young girls a large platform, it has meant there is now less “freedom and creativity” within the industry.
She told Harper’s Bazaar UK: “I lived in the moment so much when I was younger and that helped me a lot day to day.
“But it’s difficult now, I think the industry has changed so much with social media that it would be hard for me to even imagine what I would tell a young girl starting out; when I began my career, there was none of that. We had much more freedom and creativity.”
And Behati’s advice to any young models starting out in the industry would be to always be “kind” and “good to people”.
She added: “My advice would just be stay true to yourself and be kind, be good to people, treat them as you would want to be treated. That brings you far in this industry. I think the better you are to people, the better you will do.”

Lady Gaga will launch beauty line on Amazon

OHMYGOSSIP — Lady Gaga will launch her exclusive beauty line, Haus Laboratories, on Amazon.
The 33-year-old songstress will release her make-up kits – which will be available for pre-order on Monday (15.07.19) – in nine countries on three continents, including the US, France and Germany, and she hopes the range will help her fans to express themselves and their “artistry”.
Speaking in a Haus Laboratories promotional video, she said: “The last thing the world needs is another beauty brand, but that’s too bad.
“They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but at Haus Laboratories we say beauty is how you see yourself. Your glam, your expression, your artistry. We want you to love yourself. Our haus, your rules.”And taking to her own Instagram account, Gaga recalled when she “discovered the power of make-up” and watched her own mother, Cynthia Germanotta, paint her face every morning as a “hard working woman”.
She wrote: “When I was young, I never felt beautiful. And as I struggled to find a sense of both inner and outer beauty, I discovered the power of makeup.
“I remember watching my mother put her makeup on every morning, basking in the glow of her power to put on her bravest face as the hard working woman she was. I then began to experiment with makeup as a way to make my dreams of being as strong as my mother become true.(sic)”
The ‘A Star Is Born’ actress created her beauty line because it “inspired bravery” in herself, and allowed her to “transform” her looks throughout her career.
Gaga added: “It was then that I invented Lady Gaga. I found the superhero within me by looking in the mirror and seeing who I wanted to be.
“Sometimes beauty doesn’t come naturally from within. But I’m so grateful that makeup inspired a bravery in me I didn’t know I had.
“I’ve come to accept that I discovered my beauty by having the ability to invent myself and transform. They said I was just weird, but really, I was just Born This Way. Love, Lady Gaga. (sic)”

Kanye West’s Yeezy brand to top $1.5 billion in sales

OHMYGOSSIP — Kanye West’s Yeezy brand is expected to top $1.5 billion in sales this year.
The 42-year-old rapper-turned-designer created his exclusive footwear brand in partnership with Adidas in 2015, and went on to unveil his first apparel collection, named ‘Yeezy Season 1’ that same year, and now the line is predicted to take in a staggering $1.5 billion worth of sales in 2019 alone, financial bible Forbes has predicted.
And Kanye – who still owns 100 per cent of the Yeezy brand – compared the range to luxury Lamborghini vehicles, and revealed he loves to create products and “problem-solve”.
He said: “I am a product guy at my core. To make products that make people feel an immense amount of joy and solve issues and problems in their life, that’s the problem-solving that I love to do.
“There’s a little bit of Lamborghini in everything I do. Yeezy is the Lamborghini of shoes.”
Before his Yeezy partnership, the ‘Golddigger’ hitmaker designed shoes for Bathing Ape and Nike in 2012, however after five years and three silhouettes of sneakers, Kanye ended their partnership because Nike failed to grant him royalties.
Opening up about the Nike Air Yeezy II release in 2012, Kanye told Forbes magazine: “It was the first shoe to have the same level of impact as an Air Jordan, and I wanted to do more. And at that time Nike refused to give celebrities royalties on their shoes.”
Kanye went on to have his successful long-running partnership with Adidas after they agreed to pay him royalties, and the rapper likes to make limited quantities of his trainer releases because it helps the brand stay relevant and “sell”.
He added: “What makes celebrity products sell so well is scarcity.
“So if they make it too broadly available, I think it crashes the business model.”
And the ‘Life of Pablo’ hitmaker went on to insist that there is still lots more to come from his Yeezy and Adidas partnership.
Kanye added: “We’ve yet to see all of the beauty that would be manifested through this partnership.
“We’ve only experienced a small glimmer of light.”

Serena Williams: I have been bodyshamed

OHMYGOSSIP — Serena Williams has been “bodyshamed” and “penalised” throughout her tennis career.
The 37-year-old athlete claims she’s received unfair criticism because of her “body shape” and believes she’s ran into trouble just because she’s female.
In a first-hand essay for Harper’s Bazaar magazine – for which she has posed in unretouched photos – she wrote: “I’ve been shamed because of my body shape. I’ve been paid unequally because of my sex. I’ve been penalised a game in the final of a major because I expressed my opinion or grunted too loudly.”
Serena admitted her journey has “never been easy” but she hopes speaking up will help others who “look like” her in the future.
She added: “I’ve been blatantly cheated against to the point where the Hawk-Eye rules were introduced so that something like that would not happen again. And these are only the things that are seen by the public.
“In short, it’s never been easy. But then I think of the next girl who is going to come along who looks like me, and I hope, ‘Maybe, just maybe, my voice will help her.’
The tennis ace – who has 21-month-old Olympia with husband Alexis Ohanian – admitted that her biggest drive these days is her young daughter.
She added: “Ultimately, my daughter is the reason I use my voice, the reason I picked up a racket again. Love breathes life and newfound perspective into people.
“It’s not about quitting when someone presents a challenge; it’s about getting up when you are down, dusting yourself off and asking, ‘Is that the best you got?’ Because I have God with me, and I can take whatever comes my way.”

Kim Kardashian West not surprised by Kanye West success

OHMYGOSSIP — Kim Kardashian West thinks it is “no surprise” Kanye West’s footwear line will make over $1.5 billion this year.
The 38-year-old reality star – who has North, five, Saint, three, Chicago, 16 months, and two-month-old son Psalm with her spouse Kanye West – has praised the ‘Golddigger’ rapper for his work ethic and wasn’t shocked by the figures revealed in the latest issue of financial bible Forbes.
She tweeted: “I watch how hard he works as he puts his soul into every idea & product that he creates.
“It’s of no surprise to anyone who works w Kanye that he has been able to turn millions of $ in debt into a billion dollar empire in only 4 years – 100% on his own terms while owning it 100% (sic)”
And the ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ star admitted she is inspired by her spouse “every single day” and she’s delighted his business has come under scrutiny.
She posted: “Kanye on @Forbes!!! I love this cover and article. Kanye has worked so hard to build Yeezy and always stays true to his vision. He is my inspiration.
“He inspires me every single day and I’m so happy that he is getting the recognition and credit that he deserves. @Forbes (sic)”
Kim has also explained she is constantly inspired by her husband because he “pushes people outside their comfort zone” to help them “grow” and develop.
Kim told Forbes magazine: “I’ve never seen anyone that pays such attention to detail.
“He pushes people to do their best and pushes people even outside of their comfort zone, which really helps people grow.
The ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ star is now more picky about what brands she would like to partner with as before she would “throw” her name on “anything”.
She added: “He’s just taught me as a person to never compromise and to really take ownership.
“Before, I was really the opposite. I would throw my name on anything.”

Chris Hemsworth used wife’s La Mer cream to treat sunburn

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Hemsworth left his wife Elsa Pataky “unimpressed” when he used her $400 La Mer cream to treat his sunburn.
The 35-year-old actor – who has India, seven and five-year-old twins Tristan and Sasha with his spouse – has recalled when he lathered his “whole body” in his the expensive skincare after burning his shoulders in the sun and how she was “less than happy”.
He said: “She uses a lot of La Mer products, which, you know, cost a small fortune, so she’s less than happy when I use that face moisturiser over my whole body. I found out the hard way when I used her $400 cream for a sunburn one time. That wasn’t the best option.
“My shoulders were sunburnt one time and I lathered up my shoulders with some La Mer products not realising how expensive they were. She wasn’t really that impressed. It smells so delicious, I wanted to eat it.”
Chris swears by coconut oil to keep his skin hydrated and will also use it to treat sunburn, because it’s natural and much “cheaper” than La Mer’s products.
He told GQ magazine: “[I] Usually just [use coconut oil] on my face. Especially when it’s really dry and I’m surfing a lot, spending a lot of time in the sun. It’s better for sunburn or dehydrated skin–and much cheaper–than La Mer.”
The ‘Avengers: Endgame’ star went on to explain that he uses “natural” deodorants in his beauty regime because sprays can have a harmful effect on the environment.
He added: “I haven’t used a spray deodorant for a long time due to the chemicals and the negative effects on the environment, so I tend to [use] a natural roll-on.
“But the natural ones don’t always work so well, so you’ve gotta dig around and find the good ones. There’s a couple of locally made ones here in Byron Bay that are pretty heavy. Pretty efficient.”

Kim Kardashian West Carolina Lemke sunglasses match every outfit

OHMYGOSSIP — Kim Kardashian West says her second line of Carolina Lemke sunglasses match every style.
The 38-year-old reality TV star collaborated with the German brand to launch an exclusive collection of shades earlier this year, and now the star has released the much-anticipated second drop of the collection, which includes two brand-new designs, and Kim revealed she took them with her on vacation and thought they were “amazing” because they coordinated with all of her outfits.
In a statement, Kim said: “These two shapes are perfect for summer looks, either with a big shield for a major statement or a new ’90s-inspired oval for something a little more subtle.
“I actually brought both of these pairs with me on a recent vacation. They were amazing – they went with everything!”
The two designs include an oversized, curvilinear Gemini shield and a ’90s-inspired Sand oval frame, which are available in a variety of summer colours and retail for $90 each.
Kim previously revealed her husband Kanye West was heavily involved in the styling of the hundreds of replicas of her own face used in the promotional images of the sunglasses campaign.
She said: “We wanted to do the whole clones theme. [Kanye] loves helping out with the ad campaigns and stuff, overseeing like the clones and the longer hair. He was so stuck on having long hair only on one side … and I was like, all right, I haven’t seen that before.
“At first we made the mannequins and then we kind of wanted moving images … so then we also made face masks. As soon as I saw them I said, this is our press box. Like, it just clicked. I was like, this is what it has to be. I’ve never seen anything like it. I thought it was cute.”
And the ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ star admitted it was “nice” to be given full creative freedom on the collaboration.
Kim told Bustle: “It’s nice to have a company that will really listen to your direction, really wants to collaborate, and have me actually design everything from start to finish.”
Kim – who has sisters Kourtney, 39, Khloe, 34, Kendall Jenner, 23 and Kylie Jenner, 21 – created her different shades styles, which are named Dusk, Nirvana, Sahara and Tempest, with each of her family in mind.
She continued: “[Dusk is] like my everyday [style]. I can wear that anytime.I made the round ones [Indra] with Kourtney in mind, Kendall with the tiny [Dusk] in mind.
“Khloe, the big visor [Nirvana]. Khloe loves an aviator but we don’t have any aviators in the collection, so I would pick a visor [style]. Kylie, I would pick like the sporty [Sahara]. And then for me, I would pick [mirrored Tempest].”

Leighton Meester designs Matilda-inspired fashion line

OHMYGOSSIP — Leighton Meester has designed her own fashion collection based on the ‘Matilda’ character Miss Honey.
The 33-year-old actress – who has three-year-old Arlo with her husband Adam Brody – has created her own range of garments in collaboration with the sustainable Los Angeles-based label, Christy Dawn, and the star has revealed she wanted her line to be an “updated version” of the beloved school teacher’s (Embeth Davidtz) “sweet” style from the 1996 Roald Dahl film adaptation.
She said: “I thought an updated version of her really sweet, relaxed but put-together ’90s style would be cool.
“I wanted it to be simple and easy for anybody to wear.
“I kind of just pictured what I’d actually be wearing it to – to the playground with my kid, to the beach, to a baby shower or birthday party or to dinner at a nicer restaurant, which doesn’t happen quite as much these days! I’ve been wearing it nonstop and really enjoying it.”
And Leighton – who is best known for playing her fashionista alter ego Blair Waldorf on ‘Gossip Girl’ – wanted her stylish range to be “easy and comfortable” and based it on her own wardrobe needs.
She added: “The older I get, and the older my kid gets, I’ve realised that comfort is the number one thing that’s important to me.
“But a lot of the time, because I’m so concerned with having an outfit be easy and comfortable, style tends to take a back seat.”
The ‘Single Parents’ star insisted that the first thing she wanted to create was a jumpsuit because it’s a go-to in her own wardrobe.
She told Page Six Style: “The first time I went down and got to meet Christy was about a year ago; pretty much right away, we started talking about making a jumper.
“Because that’s really my go-to, and I always am looking for the perfect one and had yet to find it — until now.”
