Celine Dion: Being L’Oréal ambassador is miracle

OHMYGOSSIP — Celine Dion thinks being a beauty ambassador for L’Oréal Paris at 51 is a “miracle”.
The ‘My Heart Will Go On’ hitmaker joined forces with the beauty giant back in April, and joined Jane Fonda, Julianne Moore and Andie Macdowell to have her own partnership with the iconic brand, but the songstress “never” imagined she’d be asked to front such a campaign in her 50s, in particular because she was bullied because of her looks when she was young.
She said: “When I was young and having problems with my teeth, very, very skinny, not feeling pretty, and being bullied at school, I would never have thought that L’Oréal Paris would one day ask me, at 51 years old, to become an ambassador. It’s a miracle.”
However, Celine – who has René-Charles, 18 and eight-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy with her late husband René Angélil – has always felt confident throughout her career as a singer and has felt “supported” by her fans.
She told Allure: “Singing was a way for me to express myself, to feel supported and not judged. Over the last couple of years, I feel like I’ve grown strong and happy through dance, through friendship, through motherhood. It’s inside out”
The ‘Think Twice’ singer loves how beauty products can “change” her attitude and help her feel more confident, and insisted she is happy being in her 50s and constantly moving “forward”.
She continued: “But the things we put on ourselves: the cream, the hair colour, the conditioner, the nails, the makeup, a good outfit — it changes my demeanour.”
“I would not go back to being 17 or in my 20s or 30s. All that [youth] was wonderful, but I’m never going back in time. I’m going forward. And I can’t wait for my next birthday.”

Jane Birkin always carries a silk scarf in her Hermes Birkin bag

OHMYGOSSIP — Jane Birkin always keeps a silk scarf in her Hermes Birkin handbag.
The 72-year-old actress-and-model had the first Birkin bag created for her by the luxury fashion house’s chief executive Jean-Louis Dumas in 1984 following a chance meeting when the pair were sat next to each other on a flight from Paris to London.
Since going on sale, the Birkin bag has become a must-have fashion accessory and now the ‘Death on the Nile’ star has opened up on what she keeps in her Birkin bag.
Revealing what is in her bag, Jane said: “A silk scarf and my agenda, without which I’d be lost. I suppose one should add the mobile phone and the string that goes into the wall.”
The style icon has also opened up daily beauty ritual and revealed she only uses foundation to cover “blemishes”.
Speaking to British Vogue, she said: “I use Sisley Phyto-Teint Eclat foundation for nose and blemishes, a Mac Soar lip pencil on lips and cheeks, and Nars Bengali eyeshadow – and, at night, a little mascara. I take off my make-up with Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré.”
And when it comes to fashion choices, Jane doesn’t limit herself to just women’s clothes and admits she loves men’s trousers because she likes to “fiddle” with the pockets.
She said: “I buy things often, but I sleep in them for two weeks, and then they really look quite rough.
“I [prefer men’s trousers because I] like fiddling about in the pockets. My last pair, I took from my agent. I like it when they’ve been worn by somebody else for a long time.”
The ‘Blow-Up’ star also went on to reveal that if she could have access to any wardrobe in the world, she’d choose her late father’s,
Royal Navy lieutenant-commander David Birkin.
Jane – whose mother was English actress Judy Campbell – simply said: “[I’d raid] my father’s [closet]: his jerseys, his trousers, his shoes.”

Iman to be honoured with Franca Sozzani Award

OHMYGOSSIP — Iman is set to be honoured with the Franca Sozzani Award.
The 64-year-old supermodel – who is the widow of ‘Space Oddity’ hitmaker David Bowie, who tragically passed away in 2016 after battling liver cancer – will follow in the footsteps of Salma Hayek and Julianne Moore by receiving the annual prestigious honour later this month.
The award was set up by the son of the late Vogue Italia editor-in-chief and recognises women who stand out for their artistic careers and social commitment.
Iman – who has created inclusive skin-care collections and has been heavily involved in humanitarian work throughout her long-running career – will receive the gong ahead of the 76th edition of the Venice International Film Festival at the Belmond Hotel Cipriani.
Sozzani’s son Francesco Carrozzini will present the prize, and he revealed he is happy she is the recipient because her dedication to the fashion industry has always been “bold and innovative”.
He told WWD: “Iman’s work has disrupted the fashion industry in a way similar to Franca’s: bold, innovative and inclusive.
“Using her platform to the best of its potential, Iman’s work from lobbying the CFDA for an increase of diversity on the runway to impactful humanitarian work, displays her true passion and focus. We are truly honored for her to accept the Franca Sozzani Award.”
In 2018, Hayek was the second person to receive the iconic Franca Sozzani Award, and thanked the late fashion mogul, who died of a rare form of cancer in 2016, for “motivating” her to “engage in social causes”.
In her speech, she admitted: “This award means a lot to me, it’s very moving. Franca was always an inspiration, I was in awe of her. With her example she motivated me to do things that I never thought possible doing; she was so special.
“I’ve been engaged in social causes dear to my heart for 25 years now; what’s fashionable today, for me it’s just my life! It’s nothing new to me, it’s not something of the moment; it has always been there. Now this is on everybody’s mind, but I’ve been committed for a very long time. I do so many different things! The environment is also crucial for me, but definitely the most important work I do is for and with women.”

Kim Kardashian West says Met Gala was as nerve-wracking as wedding

OHMYGOSSIP — Kim Kardashian West found the 2019 Met Gala just as “nerve-wracking” as her wedding to Kanye West.
The 38-year-old reality TV star ensured all eyes were on her when she donned a custom-made, silicon nude dress by French couturier Thierry Mugler for the annual fashion extravaganza held at the Costume Institute wing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City this year.
However, in a new clip from the upcoming 17th series of ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’, the fashionista admits she suffered severe anxiety before stepping out on the red carpet at the prestigious event because they were photographers taking pictures of her “from every angle”.
Speaking in the footage, Kim said: “It’s the morning of the Met, and I just keep on saying, ‘I don’t know why I have such anxiety for the Met, I feel this sense of pressure, responsibility.’ ”
And later talking to her long-time make-up artist, Mario Dedivanovic, Kim compares the butterflies in her stomach before the Met Gala to the way she felt when she tied the knot with rapper Kanye in Florence, Italy, in May 2014.
She said: “This is like probably as nerve-wracking as my wedding like I don’t know why I get so nervous for the Met. Maybe even more so, just because there’s pictures from every single angle.”
The beauty mogul donned the beaded one-off gown by the couturier on the red carpet back in May, and Kim felt a “huge responsibility” to look “perfect” because the designer hadn’t created a dress in 20 years.
In another teaser clip from the E! reality series, Kim says: “This year I am wearing Thierry Mugler for the Met Ball. It’s like a huge responsibility for me because he, I’m sure, after not designing for 20 years wants it to be something magical and special and new, and I just want it to be perfect.”

Swae Lee sleeps and showers in his jewellery

OHMYGOSSIP — Swae Lee “sleeps and showers” in his diamond jewellery.
The 24-year-old rapper is obsessed with his fine jewels and often shows off his huge diamond collection on social media, and he likes to wear his different pieces all the time even when he’s having a wash.
He said: “I sleep with my jewellery on. I take a shower and do everything with it. I got a lot of jewellers I mess with. Right now I’m all about who can get me the best price and not who’s just trying to tax me. There’s one that showed me a lot of dope pieces, and the name is @krisjewelers on Instagram. They have really good prices and are not just out to bust heads. I like elegant jewels. I don’t like mine super-flashy. I don’t like too much ‘rapper’ jewelry, necessarily.”
But Swae’s eye for a bargain doesn’t mean he isn’t afraid to invest in pricey pieces, as he revealed his first big purchase was a Patek Philippe timepiece.
Speaking to The New York Times, he said: “One of the first big things I bought for myself was a Patek watch. It’s so fly. I don’t even really wear it because it’s too much to bust out.”
The ‘Close To Me’ hitmaker – who is one half of hip hop duo Rae Sremmurd with his brother Slim Jxmmi – opened up about his “crazy” shoe collection and confessed he has thousands of shoes that he loves to wear when they are “box fresh” and crisp white.
He added: “My collection is crazy. I have maybe 2,000 pairs of shoes. I like all kinds of shoes. Today I have on the classic white Air Force 1s.
“You can never go wrong with Air Force 1s, and that goes back to like 20 years ago. They’re legendary O.G. shoes. You get a pair of clean whites and you keep them clean, you’re really stepping out. I like them box fresh. That’s the only thing. I can really just wear them one time, unless you throw them in the wash.”

Emily Ratajkowski relies on eyebrow brush

OHMYGOSSIP — Emily Ratajkowski says her favourite beauty tool is an eyebrow brush.
The 28-year-old model-and-actress took to Instagram on Wednesday (31.07.19) to show off her signature bushy brows, which she was seen grooming in a mirror, and the brunette beauty admitted nobody “loves” a spoolie “more” than her because it’s her go-to product for keeping any stray hairs in place.
She simply captioned the post: “Trust me, no one loves an eyebrow brush more than me (sic)”
Meanwhile, Emily created her hugely-successful swimwear line, Inamorata, in November 2017 and then went on to expand her range and release her own underwear collection called Body, and the star has now released an exclusive line of tops after she always “stole” her 32-year-old spouse Sebastian Bear-McClard’s for her trips to the beach.
She captioned a snapshot of herself on Instagram: “I was always stealing Sebo’s shirts so decided we should have our own. Slim fit, cute shape, match your favorite @inamoratawoman print suit or wear it on its own. Online now! (sic)”
The stunning brunette also previously admitted she created her lingerie and swim collections for women who are “comfortable in their own body”.
Speaking in a video with Kourtney Kardashian, she said: “We call it Body because it’s body suits and bike shorts. It is lingerie but it’s so much more than that, it’s the idea of a swim too, which is like a girl that’s so comfortable in her body that she wears it around the house, or she lives in her swimsuit, or she lives in her body.
“I’m constantly looking for inspiration and make every piece something that I would wear because I think you can get lost in being like ‘We should do this colourway’ but I want everything to be something I’m really proud of.”

Ashley Benson will be face of Cosmopolitan’s first fragrance launch

OHMYGOSSIP — Ashley Benson has been chosen to be the face of Cosmopolitan’s first fragrance launch.
The 29-year-old actress will front the American magazine’s debut perfume launch, named Eau de Juice, after the publication – which is owned by Hearst Magazines – partnered with Luxe Brands to create a line of four scents that will be available exclusively at Ulta at the end of the year.
Luxe Brands has worked with the likes of Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber to create their fragrance lines.
Hearst’s global chief licensing officer and head of brand development, Steve Ross said: “We know that roughly one-third of all beauty spending in this country is done by Cosmo readers, so we’re betting fragrance will be a relevant category that will really resonate with them — not just in the US but in a multitude of key international territories.”
The four scents will be packaged in bright coloured, slightly crumpled juice boxes to bring the fragrances to life in a “cheeky and whimsical way” and are set to be displayed at 925 Ulta stores in stand-alone cases that resemble retro refrigerators.
Steve added: “If you look at the bottles, for which we have a design patent pending, and aesthetics of the overall campaign, you can really see this brand come to life in a cheeky and whimsical way. That was intentional and we really leaned-in to our brand differentiator to find our own niche in a highly competitive fragrance market.”
Editor-in-Chief of Cosmopolitan US, Jessica Pels, was also involved with “every element of this line” and loved creating a product that is her “secret weapon”.
She told WWD: “Fragrance is the busy girl’s secret weapon – you spritz some on your literal way out the door and you feel magically more pulled together. Plus you create a sense of intrigue whenever someone smells it, ‘Ooo, what is that?’ It brings people closer to you.”

Harry Styles sleeps in new Gucci perfume

OHMYGOSSIP — Harry Styles sleeps in the new Gucci fragrance Mémoire d’une Odeur.
The 25-year-old singer and actor fronts the new campaign for Gucci’s first unisex perfume and he revealed that he loves the scent so much he wears it to bed.
When asked by Dazed if he really wears Mémoire?, Harry confirmed: “All the time. I sleep in it.”
Harry also revealed he was attracted to the campaign because he loves how the fragrance “transcends gender”.
He said: “It transcends gender. I really like wearing it because it’s (Gucci’s) first universal fragrance. It’s really fresh to me. Floral, clean, not heavy. It smells like what I imagine Joan Didion’s house to smell like.”
And Harry also loves how perfumes evoke memories, explaining that his mother’s fragrance reminds him of his childhood.
He said: “I like a fragrance that has some emotion behind it. The triggering of memories from smell is really strong for everyone. My mother has always worn the same perfume. It smells like roman candles and jasmine. So like anytime I smell it, I feel like a kid again. I feel like everyone has those.”
Harry has worked closely with Gucci’s Alessandro Michele over the past few years and he loves how experimenting with fashion makes him feel.
He explained: “I love the clothes. That helps a lot. Just going on stage in a nuts suit with a bunch of sequins makes you feel good, and then you want to play.”

Liam Payne’s fashion regrets

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Payne regrets his “rapper gold chains” fashion phase.
The 25-year-old singer and Hugo Boss global ambassador admitted he has a number of fashion regrets but the biggest one is when he started wearing large gold chains early in his solo career.
He told HauteLiving: “Mine were in front of everyone! You can’t get rid of those pictures. I think my biggest fashion mistake, even though I really enjoyed it at the time, was my rapper gold chains phase, which was quite fun. I enjoyed it for what it was. But it wasn’t for me! I think the most important part of it is dressing for what suits you. Push your boundaries, but I overdid it. I went a little bit too far with it.”
While Liam regrets that evidence of his fashion mishaps are available for everyone to see, he is happy he took some fashion risks.
He said: “I actually think my style has gone full circle to when I first started to learn about clothes, right as the band started. And then I went on a little journey and tried out a bunch of stuff, which I think is really important and people should definitely do and go experience, but just don’t take loads of pictures like I did because that’s just really awkward. But I think my fashion sense has gone full circle.”
Liam has another collection to come with Hugo Boss and revealed he hopes to work on a sportswear line some day.
He said: “I have another collection coming out next year. I have an underwear shoot that’s coming out very soon. And a couple other things I’m doing with Hugo. As far as other brands, I would like to do something more sporty, whether that’s with Hugo or not with Hugo I don’t really know. Probably accessories would be something else I would want to get into at some time point I think. Lots of great ideas!”

Rain Dove talks fashion inequality

OHMYGOSSIP — Rain Dove says it will take “righteous rage” to bring inclusivity to the fashion industry.
The 29-year-old model, who is gender-nonconforming, believes change is happening and progress is being made but has encouraged everyone to continue to fight for equality.
Rain told Metro.co.uk: “It would be great if change happened overnight but that’s just not how things work is it. In saying that, just because we’re still having to campaign doesn’t mean very real change isn’t happening. ‘But it takes righteous rage, it takes people who go into the streets like ‘f**k this’, it takes daring diplomacy, it takes strongly worded letters, it takes just one tweet, or just someone who chooses to live. As long as we’re all doing our best I feel we’re making progress.”
Rain – whose full name is Rain Dove Dubilewski – has seen a lot of inequality in the industry throughout the years and admitted that they used to be extremely angry about it but now has the motto of “educate, don’t hate”.
They said: “I felt like I had the right to be angry. The things people say to you in these castings and the way you’re treated and these egregious offences put against people just for the way that they look makes you really angry.
“We have to see each other as community members that have to work together,’ . This world we live in is so chaotic, we don’t know why we’re here we’re just trying to understand what we’re doing is the right thing. We’re trying our best. My movement is ‘educate, don’t hate’.”

Carol Vorderman blasts appearance scrutiny

OHMYGOSSIP — Carol Vorderman blames the Kardashians for people’s preoccupations with appearances.
The 58-year-old presenter claims she receives “hundreds” of comments on her appearance every day and thinks Kim Kardashian West and her famous family are one of the main reasons people care about looks so much these days.
She told The Daily Telegraph: “One of the sad things is that people think I am only ever talking about the way I look, when really it’s just what’s printed… It’s the Kardashians who’ve changed that. There’s no other content now…
“Social media and all of that, I can’t fight that battle now, so I just choose to pay no attention to it.”
Carol also admitted she is frustrated that instead of focusing on her work with education, people are only interested in her “bottom”.
She said: “I was a free school meals kid, I got to Cambridge from a comprehensive – that just didn’t happen in the 70s. Now I do a lot of work with kids from a similar background to me. I have my online maths school, I sell I-don’t-know-how-many education books a year for Dorling Kindersley. But that never gets talked about. Instead it’s, ‘How big is her bottom?!'”
Carol previously insisted she hasn’t weighed herself for two decades and walks 12 to 20 miles twice a week to keep fit.
She said: “I haven’t weighed myself since 1999. I don’t actually know how much I weigh and I don’t care because I go on my dress size, thank god for lycra! I’m probably about a size 8 to 9 at the moment.
“I’ve always had a small waist, I think I’m about 25 inches around my waist. If I put on a bit of weight, I know I have, and I go up to a size 11. A larger size 10, that’s kind of my boundary for where I’m happy.
“In terms of squats, or the equivalent of squats, I probably do over 20,000 a year… that’s a lot.”

Rita Ora’s ’empowering’ sexuality

OHMYGOSSIP — Rita Ora finds showing off her sexuality “empowering”.
The 28-year-old singer and actress says women “naturally use sex appeal” and she loves showing off her sexuality with her fashion choices.
Speaking to Virgin Media’s ‘Xposé’, Rita said: “What I look for when I make style choices really comes down to who I want to be that day. I think that as a woman we naturally use sex appeal and I feel like that just comes out of our pores whether we see it or not. We are just that kind of creature.
“I really rely on that, I really rely on being a woman. I make the most of my choices, and even of showing my sexuality because I find it so empowering.
“I look at it like beauty and art. I envy the girls that can go out and not wear any make-up and feel comfortable and sexy. For me I like making a dramatic impact, so I like to put on make-up and to decide on how I want to feel that day.”
Rita is happy to take fashion risks and never wants to be afraid to try new things.
She explained: “I would like to have no boundaries. I would like to feel like I can wear anything and everything. My history in style has been really sporadic so far.
“It was always like [people said], ‘Oh, I didn’t expect her to wear that’. I don’t ever want to stop trying out new things!”
And Rita believes being stylish is all about attitude.
The star – who has signed on as the face of footwear brand Deichmann – said: “My style inspiration always comes from attitude, from rock stars and movie stars. As long as that attitude is there, never let the clothes wear you.
“I’ve always believed that you have so many incredible, beautiful people in the world that have that doubt like, ‘Oh I can’t pull that off’, ‘There’s no way in hell I can wear that’ – you just don’t know unless you try. I think it’s all about attitude. That’s how I look at it really.”

Serena Williams designs inclusive dress

OHMYGOSSIP — Serena Williams has designed a dress to fit “every” women’s body shape.
The 37-year-old tennis player – who has 22-month-old daughter Alexis with her husband Alexis Ohanian – unveiled her eponymous fashion line last year and famous fans include her long-time friend and British royal Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex.
Serena has unveiled a video on her Instagram account which features six women of different body shapes wearing the red Twist Front Dress and stating her goal for making the garment.
Serena captioned the post: “We’re having a red hot summer over @serena. I designed the Twist Front Dress for everybody and every BODY (sic)”
The athlete admits her inspiration when designing the dress is “that no one in the world looks exactly the same” and she wants all women to feel great.
Speaking in the video, she said: “No one in the world looks exactly the same, we all are different people.
“We have different personalities with different traits. What better way to showcase it than on every body type!”
Serena also shared a photo of herself wearing the dress which she describes as “red hot”.
The seven-time Wimbledon champion has previously admitted she has “always loved fashion” since was a child and she can always remember how her mother Oracene Price would make her own clothes from patterns she found in Vogue magazine.
She shared: “I’ve always loved fashion. I remember when I was a kid, my mom used to make all our outfits. Back then, they had Vogue patterns. I would always see her pinning them and making all our clothes. And she taught us how to sew early on. So, I used to sew clothes for my dolls out of old socks and I would cut them up and make little outfits out of them.”
Serena studied fashion at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale in Florida from 2000 to 2003 and her training has proved to be useful as a professional tennis player.
She said: “I remember one time playing a tournament and, after I won, I put on a skirt to take a picture and my skirt broke. Everyone in the locker room was like, ‘Oh, the seamstress left.’ And I’m like, ‘Well, did she leave her stuff?’ And they were like, ‘Yeah,’ so I said, ‘I’ll get it.’ Yeah, it was just a simple stitch, you know, I could have hand-sewn it too,” she says gamely. “And everyone’s jaws were on the floor!”

Duchess Meghan was ‘hands on’ editing British Vogue

OHMYGOSSIP — Edward Enninful has praised Duchess Meghan’s “hands on” approach to guest editing British Vogue’s September 2019 issue.
The 47-year-old Editor-in-Chief of the magazine teamed up with the Duchess of Sussex – who was known as Meghan Markle before she married Prince Harry in May 2018 – to produce the fashion bible’s prestigious fall issue, which has been titled ‘Forces for Change’ which features 15 inspirational women on the cover, including Adwoa Aboah, Gemma Chan, Laverne Cox, Jane Fonda, Salma Hayek and Jameela Jamil.
Edward has revealed the royal was “very involved” throughout the seven-month editing process, despite being pregnant with her now two-month-old son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, whom she has with the Duke of Sussex.
He said: “We’ve been working on this for seven months and the duchess was very hands on from the beginning.
“She was very involved. I mean, we worked really side-by-side.”
Within the pages is an interview with Meghan conducted by her friend, former First Lady Michelle Obama, and a “candid” chat between Harry and primatologist Dr. Jane Goodall.
And the fashion guru was very impressed with Meghan’s dedication to the project and the way she addressed every fine detail to make sure the issue had the message of “female empowerment”.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning America’ on Monday (29.07.19), he said: “She was involved in the choice of photographer, the choice of subject, from the front of the book right to the end, and she did this when she was pregnant, and from when she had the baby and after she had the baby.
“Meghan, with this issue, wanted to sort of put across these incredible change-makers. The message is female empowerment. And also the message is about sort of staking your claim in the world and being unafraid. And that’s why we called it Forces of Change.”
