Cara Delevingne: ‘I’m still a model’

OHMYGOSSIP — Cara Delevingne still considers herself a model.
Although the 27-year-old star has moved away from modelling to focus on her acting, she insisted that she will never completely abandon the fashion industry.
When asked by MailOnline when she will return to modelling, Cara said: “Return? I never left. I don’t think you have to pick and choose what you do, especially as a creative person.
“There are many different ways to express yourself, I don’t think you should stop yourself from doing anything.”
‘Carnival Row’ actress Cara previously revealed she had decided to focus on acting as she had been extremely unhappy during her time as one of the world’s most successful models.
She wrote in a series of tweets: “I never said I was quitting modelling. I do not blame the fashion industry for anything. I suffer from depression and was a model during a particularly rough patch of self-hatred. I am so lucky for the work I get to do but I used to work to try and escape and just ended up completely exhausting myself. I am focusing on filming and trying to learn how to not pick apart my every flaw. I am really good at that.”
Cara also explained that after finding herself feeling unhappy, she decided to change things up and discovered that acting made her feel better about herself.
She told Time magazine’s female-focused website, Motto: “I was nearly 20 and had been modelling for several years. My vantage point had changed…and I had changed. I knew I had to reevaluate my life and my goals for my future. I didn’t want to resent fashion or my success. The process didn’t happen overnight, but it was imperative for me to preserve my integrity.
“Over time, I came to see that work and getting others’ approval isn’t the most important thing. Yes, your career is very important – but it’s not the most important. Of course, I was proud of my accomplishments, but I wasn’t genuinely happy.”

Kate Hudson: ‘Diane Von Furstenberg is my style icon’

OHMYGOSSIP — Diane Von Furstenberg is Kate Hudson’s style and business icon.
The 40-year-old actress has just launched her fashion brand, HappyXNature, and Kate revealed that she finds designer Diane “really inspiring”.
Kate told Grazia magazine: “She is incredibly self-possessed and I find her to be a really inspiring, strong woman. She lives her life her way, and I love being with her. Every time I travel, I think of Diane: she doesn’t ever check luggage. I’m like, ‘You’re my hero!’ I want to live my life like Diane Von Furstenberg, to be fashionably ready, in one carry-on case.”
Kate also admitted that creating a fashion brand that is budget friendly and environmentally conscious has been a challenge.
She explained: “Accessible pricing is really important, but I find that trying to use responsibly sourced materials makes clothes very expensive.
“If you’re going to start companies, you have to be looking at the environment, and what you’re really putting out there. The fashion industry is the second most harmful to the environment.
“Let’s just be transparent and talk about everything that’s going into our clothes Right now, 50 per cent is kind of where we’re sitting, in terms of how responsible we are.”
Kate also revealed she has struggled to be taken seriously as a businesswoman.
She said: “We will always, somehow, be fighting against being the court jester. And hey man, you turn on a light and put me in tap shoes, and I’ll tap, you know? I’ll tap for lunch. It’s ingrained.
“It’s shifting, so that’s nice, but I think any artist would agree that there’s always an uphill battle there.”

Lauren Hutton credits sex for her youthful appearance

OHMYGOSSIP — Lauren Hutton credits her youthful appearance to good sex.
The 75-year-old actress claims that her secret to looking good is keeping active in the bedroom with her partner.
When asked for her number one beauty tip by PEOPLE, Lauren answered: “A good man. And certainly don’t give up sex – because that’s just silly.”
However, she does also have some other tips for maintaining a youthful glow.
In addition to “laughing, reading and being in nature”, Lauren likes to keep it simple when it comes to beauty products.
She said: “I used to use a lot of coconut oil. I put that in my hair and all over my body. And then don’t use too much makeup.”
Lauren was recently named a global brand ambassador for StriVectin skincare and the company chose her because of her natural good looks and her aversion to cosmetic surgery.
Joan Malloy, CEO of StriVectin, said: “She is an original. She broke through glass ceilings for women. She speaks volumes for women of her age and she celebrates her age. We love that.
“She was so authentic and that just validated to us that she was such a symbol of empowerment, especially because of the way she felt about aging. She didn’t have any work done. She talked about how she got fired when she was in her 40’s, from Revlon, because she was too old. It was her attitude, her approach, her spirit, her determination. It just was a natural fit for us.
“She is a role model to younger women and other individuals today. That is just spectacular. We feel that together as a brand, we share a passion and a purpose, and it is about outsmarting aging and really celebrating women at every age.”

Fashion icon Margot Robbie

OHMYGOSSIP — Margot Robbie’s mother says she is a “fashion icon”.
The 29-year-old actress is the new face and ambassador for Chanel Fragrances and her mother Sarie Kessler can’t believe how stylish her daughter has grown up to be.
Speaking to Margot for the latest issue of Vogue Australia, Sarie said: “I want to talk to you about how your fashion taste has changed. When you were little I couldn’t get you out of board shorts and mismatched T-shirts and farm boots. And now you’re just this amazing fashion icon sitting front row at Chanel haute couture.
“When I see you sitting next to Anna Wintour or being made the new fragrance ambassador for Chanel, I think: ‘Pinch me, this can’t be my daughter’. The one who was in the farm boots and the apricot skirt.”
However, Margot played down her mother’s excitement, saying: “Mum. God bless you. I am not a fashion icon, but thank you for saying that.”
Margot also shared her first fashion memory with her mother for the magazine.
She said: “I remember [my cousin] Julia and I, we had the dress-up box and that was the most exciting thing. It wasn’t so much about fashion as it was about costumes and playing dress-ups and making up stories. It is hilarious when I look back at pictures and honestly, Mum, I don’t know why you let me dress myself. I looked ridiculous. The girls found a photo the other day of us at some sort of school thing and I’m wearing an apricot-coloured skirt, which I think Tahlia, my babysitter had made, then a T-shirt and farm boots. I don’t know how you let me out wearing that.”

Missy Elliott’s MTV VMAs nails created with $350 Swarovski Crystals

OHMYGOSSIP — Missy Elliott’s MTV Video Music Awards nails took three hours and used $350 worth of Swarovski Crystals.
The ‘Lose Control’ rapper is known for her wild nail designs and so it was no surprise that she went over the top for the awards show on Monday (26.08.19), which saw her collect the prestigious Video Vanguard Award.
The 48-year-old music legend’s long-time nail artist, Bianca ‘Beedy’ Williams, told Refinery29: “Nails are often overlooked, but when you’re performing for an award show, you’re holding a mic and accepting a trophy, so nails are important.”
Bianca was given “free rein” by Missy to do whatever she wanted, with her only request being that there was plenty of “bling”, and so they went with crystal tips with the word “Icon” also painted on one nail.
The beautician continued: “For the most part, Missy gave me free rein to be creative with her nails, which I love.
“Her one request was that there be a lot of bling.”
Meanwhile, Missy’s stylist Alexandra Butler – who has worked with the ‘Get Ur Freak On’ rapper for the past five years – revealed the superstar encourages creativity with her style.
She said: “It’s usually a group effort with Missy, [stylist] June [Ambrose], and the team. Of course, it also depends on the event. But, in the makeup chair, Missy is very trusting and allows me to be creative.
“I was actually on ‘Glam Masters’ last year, and ever since she’s seen my work on that show, her attitude has just been, ‘Okay now, I see you can take it there, so let’s take it there.’ “So there’s a level of confidence I’ve built. I have a good idea of what she likes, and she’s usually very open to what I want.”
Alexandra added the ‘Work It’ hitmaker is “so humble and down to earth”, which means there is a very relaxed atmosphere when she’s sat “in the chair”.
She explained: “Simply being around Missy and spending so much time around her is career inspiration.
“In the chair, you would never know she’s this huge superstar because she is so humble and down to earth. But over the years, seeing her remain so grounded while still being true to who she is and what she believes in is very encouraging to me as an artist.
“She’s very creative, and she respects her team’s crafts and encourages us to think outside of the box.”

Teddy Quinlivan new face of Chanel Beauty

OHMYGOSSIP — Teddy Quinlivan is the new face of Chanel Beauty – making her the first openly transgender model to be hired by the fashion house.
The 25-year-old America model announced her history making hiring on her Instagram account and admitted that Chanel’s decision to give her the job left her weeping tears of joy.
Her post on Instagram – which included a video and image from the upcoming campaign – read: “I find I don’t cry anymore when things are sad, but isn’t it interesting when we shed tears in moments of triumph? This was one of those triumphant cry moments for me. My whole life has been a fight. From being bullied at school consistently, kids threatening to kill me and going into graphic detail how they were going to do it, my own father beating me and calling me a f****t, to receiving industry blowback after speaking publicly about being sexually assaulted on the job … This was a victory that made all of that s**t worth it.”
Teddy has previously walked the runways for major fashion houses such as Louis Vuitton and Gucci, as well as Chanel but before she came out as trans.
It was in 2017 that Teddy told the world she was trans and since then she had continued her ascent to be one of the world’s most in-demand models, appearing in campaigns for brands like Milk Makeup, Redken and Maison Margiela Fragrances.
Teddy has nothing but respect for Chanel for making her the face of one of their major campaigns as she wasn’t sure that she would work with the brand again after revealing she is transgender.
In her Instagram post, she added: “I had walked 2 shows for Chanel while I was living in stealth (stealth meaning I hadn’t made my trans identity public yet) and when I came out I knew I’d stop working with some brands, I thought I’d never work with the iconic house of Chanel ever again. But here I am in Chanel Beauty Advertising. I am the first openly trans person to work for the house of Chanel, and I am deeply humbled and proud to represent my community.”

Alexandra added Missy, 48, is “so humble and down to earth”, which means there is a very relaxed atmosphere when she’s sat “in the chair”.
Over time, Alexandra has become more comfortable with working to her own “strengths” rather than trying to work within expectations about Missy’s style.
She added: “Missy has always been extremely innovative and creative, and in the beginning, I felt like every look had to be over-the-top and insane. But I’ve also put in my head that I am here working with her for a reason because she knows my strengths. So, over time, that feeling has gone away. We collaborate a lot. We’ve found ways to marry her creativity with a modern aesthetic.”

Lizzo’s nails had to match outfit changes

OHMYGOSSIP — Lizzo’s manicurist wanted the star’s nails to “complement” her different outfits at the MTV Video Music Awards.
The 31-year-old musician stunned in a red sequinned gown on the red carpet on Monday night (26.08.19) before switching into a yellow bodysuit and booties as she took to the stage to perform ‘Truth Hurts’ and ‘Good As Hell’, and Eri Ishizu has revealed her thought process when it came to the grape purple shade she picked out.
Speaking to Refinery29, she explained: “With Lizzo’s various looks throughout the evening, we wanted to choose a fun shade that would also complement each outfit, starting with her bold sequin gown and matching feather boa on the red carpet.
“We topped the look off with Essie Gel-Setter Top Coat for an ultra-high-shine finish.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Juice’ hitmaker drank tequila from a bedazzled bottle on stage during her “spiritual” performance at the VMAs.
Lizzo revealed she was limited to just “one shot” of the Mexican spirit and she needed it for some Dutch courage before her speech about self-love.
She said: “So this is a bottle of tequila. Now here’s the tea: I wasn’t allowed to have a full bottle of tequila, so we had one shot [in here].
“And I took the whole shot on accident right before my speech. So I was lit! Whatever I said, I don’t remember.”
In her speech before her performance, which saw the star and her twerking troupe dance in front of a giant booty inflatable, Lizzo said: “I’m tired of the bull**** and I don’t have to know your story to know that you are tired of the bull**** too.
“It’s so hard trying to love yourself in a world that doesn’t love you back. So I want to take this opportunity to just feel good as hell because you deserve to feel good as hell!”

Duchess Meghan’s surprise visit to Smart Works photoshoot

OHMYGOSSIP — Duchess Meghan surprised models at her Smart Works fashion shoot in London this week.
The 38-year-old royal – who was known as Meghan Markle before she married Prince Harry in May 2018 – is releasing a capsule line of work apparel to benefit one of her royal patronages, the charity Smart Works, which provides support for unemployed women.
And Meghan decided to make a surprise appearance at the photoshoot for the collection in London on Wednesday (21.08.19), before she shared a short video on her and Prince Harry’s Instagram feed.
A source told BAZAAR.com: “Meghan surprised everyone at Smart Works when she showed up for the shoot in London.”
In the video, a casually dressed Meghan can be seen hugging the models, chatting to the photographer and looking on proudly at the shoot.
Meghan has teamed up with UK high-street department stores Marks & Spencer, John Lewis, Jigsaw and fashion designer Misha Nonoo to create the much-anticipated collection set to launch later this year, and the Duchess is using a “one-for-one model”, which means for every one garment purchased, one will be donated to the charity Smart Works.
The royal previously explained: “To help with this, I asked Marks & Spencer, John Lewis & Partners, Jigsaw and my friend, the designer Misha Nonoo, if they were willing to design a capsule collection of more classic options for a workwear wardrobe.
“Taking the idea further, many of the brands agreed to use the one-for-one model: for each item purchased by a customer, one is donated to the charity. Not only does this allow us to be a part of each other’s story, it reminds us we are in it together.”

Ola Jordan’s pressure to be skinny

OHMYGOSSIP — Ola Jordan says she felt under pressure to be skinny on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 36-year-old professional dancer quit the BBC One show in 2015 and admitted she is happier than ever after embracing her curves.
She told MailOnline: “When you’re on the show there is a thing in your head, you don’t wanna stand there… I was never the thinnest girl and I was never that lucky thin girl, I always had to work for it.
“People would say ‘oh my god your body is amazing’ and I worked for it. I’d go to the gym a lot, I watched what I ate. I worked for it a lot – it didn’t come easy for me.
“I am a curvy girl. I’ve got the boobs and the bum as well, you know. And, I’m short, I’m not tall, so when I put a tiny bit of weight on it really, really shows you know?
Ola admitted she denied herself sweet treats to ensure she could look good in her Strictly costumes.
She said: “It comes with age. When you’re younger, you’re like ‘oh my god I’ve got to be skinny and I’ve got to look as good as the other girls’.
“You’re on a show in a tiny costume being compared to the other professionals next to you, so you’re not gonna have that cake, you’re just not.”
However, now she is more relaxed about what she lets herself eat.
She said: “Nowadays I’m a bit more relaxed. I’m enjoying my life. And maybe I don’t have the body I had six years ago. But, sometime you’ve got to relax and enjoy life.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Abbey Clancy is “relaxed” about getting back into shape following the birth of her fourth child.
The 33-year-old model and her husband Peter Crouch welcomed son Jack 10 weeks ago and Abbey says she is in no rush to get back to her pre-pregnancy weight.

She said: “I’m quite an active person, I’m always on the go, I don’t sit down until I’m going to bed.
“I always eat healthy, being married to an athlete I’m always trying to eat fresh healthy meals as much as I can. I don’t put pressure on myself to not have treats.
“I just think you feel better if you eat healthier and you get sleep and rest and you’re a better mum because you feel good and feel strong.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Angela Bassett has had “a little bit of Botox”.
The 61-year-old actress admitted she has had some Botox injections to reduce wrinkles and keep her skin looking good but she is careful about overdoing it as she wants to avoid a frozen face.
She told NewBeauty magazine: “Botox is no surprise! I’m a big supporter of being natural, but I’ve done it twice. Just a little bit, not too much – I still need to express myself.”

Angela is passionate about her skincare regime and rarely wears make-up when she’s not working.

When I’m not on stage or on camera, I’m pretty sans makeup – I think it’s good to keep a clear, clean fresh palette. I am a potions and lotions girl, so if you make me promises, I’ll give you a shot. I do really like the iS Clinical serums. I always come back around to them and they work really well for me. I also find good aestheticians everywhere, and then I have my dermatologist Dr. Pearl Grimes here in Los Angeles.”
And she has also picked up many tips and tricks from her glam squad over the years.
She said: “We’ve been together a number of years. I trust them so much. Usually, I sit in their chairs, close my eyes and Zen out, or I think about the work I have to do. I so trust their creativity and their gift. Their absolute gift! I can just relax and try to prepare what I have to do. We all have gifts. We all have something to offer. And it’s great when you find those whose work you admire and trust, and whose personalities you enjoy.”
