Rochelle Humes asked for fashion tips

OHMYGOSSIP — Rochelle Humes gets stopped in the street for fashion advice.
The former Saturdays singer – who has daughters Alaia-Mai, six, and Valentina, two, with husband Marvin Humes – enjoys curating collections for high street retailer New Look because it’s an easy way to pass on wardrobe recommendations.
She told OK! magazine: “Because I do a lot of fashion for ‘This Morning’, I often get stopped by women and asked where they can find pieces.
“So it felt good to put all these pieces together and make it a bit easier for everyone.”
For her latest edit, the 30-year-old star has gone “back to basics” and highlighted her essentials for the colder months.
She said: “Rather than putting together my normal edit, I’ve gone for autumn/winter staples and stripped it back to basics, things that everyone needs in their wardrobe, so it’s a slightly different approach.
“There are knits, really good coats, and small stand-outs, but mainly basics.
“There’s a long grey coat in there that I absolutely love, it’s my favourite piece.”
And Rochelle particularly enjoys fashion in winter because outfits are more fun to “style”.
She said: “I love the summer and I get very excited when summer clothes arrive in store, but you dress up more in the winter.
“You have to layer things up so, in terms of styling outfits, I love the winter.”
The ‘Hit List’ host previously revealed she had reverted back to her natural curls to set an example to her daughter.
She said: “Alaia began saying that she didn’t like her naturally curly hair, because it wasn’t straight and swishy like her friends’ or the princesses’ in the books she read. I was like, ‘Well, you know mummy has curly hair’, and she was like, ‘No you don’t’.
“I realised that she had never known me to have curly hair…And now Alaia loves her curls!”

Frances Bean Cobain launches Kurt Cobain clothing line

OHMYGOSSIP — Kurt Cobain’s daughter has curated a new official clothing collection to commemorate her late father.
Frances Bean Cobain has worked with The End of Music – the business arm of the Nirvana frontman’s estate – and Live Nation Merchandise on ‘Kurt Was Here’, a range of t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies adorned with paintings, sketches and hand-written notes by the ‘Lithium’ singer, who died in 1994.
The collection – which is being sold in Barneys in the US, Selfridges in the UK and online at KurtCobainShop.com – features over 50 garments, in unisex styling and sizing, and the designs have not been edited or re-sized onto the pieces, instead taken directly from Kurt’s original artwork.
It is unclear to what extent 27-year-old Frances – whose mother is Courtney Love – worked on the collection, aside from picking the source material, but the range was “designed under the creative direction” of the artist.
A Live Nation spokesperson said they felt it was the “right time” to share Kurt’s artwork in this way in order to “celebrate his lasting impact” on the world.
The representative told Rolling Stone: “We believe that the importance of art is exceedingly potent in today’s social and political climate and that it is the right time to share this collection of Kurt’s work with artists, collectors and fans, allowing them to experience Kurt’s legacy in a new way, and collectively celebrate his lasting impact on the world.”
A portion of sales from the ‘Kurt Was Here’ collection will be donated to the Jed Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to suicide prevention among young adults and teenagers.

Kim Kardashian West’s sisters approve line

OHMYGOSSIP — Kim Kardashian West’s sisters “love” her new shapewear line.
The ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ star admitted her SKIMS range is the first time she’s pleased “every single” one of her female siblings, so she thinks she’s found the perfect product collection.
She said: “I don’t think there’s ever been a product of mine that every single sister, like, loves, loves, loves, and I’m so, I feel like, OK, I did it.”
The 38-year-old beauty has worn shapewear for years but struggled to get exactly what she wanted, so would dye the garments with teabags to make them a darker nude or cut them up to wear under skirts with slits but hopes SKIMS can “fix” all her issues.
She told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “I feel like I’ve been making and wearing shapewear for 15 years just because I’ve been cutting it up and always been making it my own.
“I feel like I [now] have all the solutions for the problems [with SKIMS] I’ve been trying to fix for so long.
“We have three different tensions, so you can go from a light smooth to more intense, and I’m just so happy that I took my time developing something that I really, really love.
“If anybody knows this space, I do and I just feel so good about bringing something to the marketplace that I haven’t really seen before.”
And Kim credited her younger half-sister, Kylie Jenner to help get the pieces for the line – which comes in nine colours and a wide range of sizes – just right.
She explained: “I was at a shoot one time with Kylie and she was cutting up her shapewear just like I had, so I was like, ‘Wait a minute, I’m in the middle of making this.’
“I would send her samples, so we would go back and forth to make sure that this is what she loved and what I loved, and I thought, if she and I are both doing the same thing, then there’s other people out there that need that.”

Lottie Moss wants anti-exploitation laws in the fashion industry

OHMYGOSSIP — Lottie Moss wants to get “laws passed” to stop exploitation in the fashion industry.
The 21-year-old model has been inspired by Leanne Maskell and her book ‘The Model Manifesto: An A-Z Anti-Exploitation Manual for the Fashion Industry’ – which addresses issues including sexual exploitation, financial abuse and the pressure to lose weight – and now wants to make sure things change to make working in fashion a more “positive” experience.
She said: “I thought, this is incredible. If only some models had had this 20 years ago, things would be different. So I messaged her and went on her podcast [‘The Model Manifesto’], and she and I have even been talking about trying to get some restrictions in place, some new laws passed. Because there might be a lot more talk about body positivity now, but how crazy is it that very little in the industry has actually changed? I’ve still got friends whose agents tell them they’re fat.”
Lottie is the half-sister of supermodel Kate Moss, and although she insists Kate never encouraged her to go into modelling, the inspiration was always there as she’d often see her sister in magazines.
She added: “When I was little I really thought that everyone had a sister in a magazine. My mum used to buy them and go, ‘Oh, look! It’s Kate!’ And I’d be, like, ‘OK? I know what she looks like – you don’t have to show me a picture!’ Then other people would say, ‘What, that’s your sister in the magazine?’ And I’d say, ‘Yes, which page is your sister on?’ I never look at her and think, that’s Kate Moss.”
The beauty eventually started realising how famous her sister was when they attended family birthday parties, where paparazzi would arrive to snap pictures of Kate.
Speaking to The Mail on Sunday’s You magazine, Lottie said: “[I realised] something was up when we’d go to my niece’s birthday parties and 30 paparazzi would be gathered outside the restaurant. I have never seen anything like it, all those cameras flashing – it could have given someone an epilepsy attack. They used to push me out of the way to get to Kate. Even the children – they would shove everyone to get to her. It was insane.”

Cate Blanchett doesn’t dress for ‘anyone’s approval’

OHMYGOSSIP — Cate Blanchett doesn’t dress “for anyone’s approval”.
The 50-year-old actress has said she doesn’t put too much thought into her fashion, and insisted her “eclectic” sense of style is based on items she enjoys wearing, rather than piecing together a wardrobe that someone else might approve of.
She said: “I don’t think about it too much. I’m a bit of bowerbird. My taste is quite eclectic. The more I mature, and the more that I’ve been exposed to extraordinary people designing extraordinary things – not just in the world of fashion but in architecture, theatre design, and film costumes – you [end up] like a rolling stone; you accrue a sense of what’s possible. And also, I don’t really care what people think in the end. I’m not dressing for anyone’s approval.”
And although the ‘Where’d You Go, Bernadette’ star has a range of tastes, she is a fan of designer Ralph Lauren, because she believes he captures the “American aesthetic” perfectly.
During New York Fashion Week, Ralph transformed a Wall Street bank into Ralph’s Club, a glamorous Art Deco-style lounge that complemented his 1920s inspired collection, and Cate said she loved the instillation so much she wished it could become a “permanent fixture”.
Speaking to Vogue magazine, she said: “I want Ralph’s Club to be a permanent fixture. It’s such a cool idea. [Lauren] is such an American establishment, but he’s more than that; he’s gone deep into the DNA of what the American aesthetic is. So to have a Ralph’s Club in New York is kind of perfect.
“Ages ago, I can’t remember what film it was, he did a very silvery collection. It had a ’20s feel, but with his twist. And I love that about him: He’s always reinventing iconic silhouettes from the ’20s, ’30s, and ’40s that have been really relevant in American cultural history – but then he puts his own twist on it.”

Downton Abbey film has garment that belonged to the ‘real Queen Mary’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Downton Abbey’ costume designer Anna Robbins has revealed that a dress worn by Geraldine James in the upcoming movie contains a “piece of silver lame” that belonged to the “real Queen Mary”.
The Emmy-nominated costume designer joined Julian Fellowes’ show from Season Five and once the film version was given the green light she was brought on board to dress the cast, which includes Michelle Dockery (Lady Mary Talbot), Laura Carmichael (Edith Pelham, Marchioness of Hexham), Elizabeth McGovern (Cora Crawley, Countess of Grantham) and Dame Maggie Smith (Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham).
The movie is set in 1927 and sees Queen Mary and King George V – portrayed by Geraldine and Simon Jones – visit Downton Abbey and Anna raised “the bar” for the film and she was thrilled to use a fabric which actually belonged to the real life monarch.
In an interview with The Daily Telegraph newspaper, she said: “The production value on Downton has always been high, but for the cinematic experience I knew I needed to raise the bar … For the film I sourced incredible vintage pieces from dealers all over the UK. People from Yorkshire to the south coast got in touch to tell me about dresses that they had that were from the era. Some things I restored in my workroom, or altered. Our actors are all very leggy compared to the people of the 1920s.
“Laura wears originals so well, they fit her frame like a glove. But there’s a peach, beaded, asymmetric dress which Lady Edith wears to the ball, for example, which was an original 1927 dress, but would have been too short for someone to wear on a royal visit. I created a slip underneath to drop that hem.
“The Queen, too is an amalgamation of vintage fabrics – her skirt contains a piece of silver lame that belonged to the real Queen Mary, which is mind-blowing. Anything that was new needed to sit next to things that were old and look cohesive.”
Anna is aware that the ‘Downton Abbey’ fan base has always loved the “glamour of these characters” and for a royal visit it was crucial to also get the jewellery right.
And the clothing expert did get a helping hand when it came to the jewels donned by the ‘Downton Abbey’ ladies as the production was loaned three antique diamond tiaras by royal tiara maker Bentley & Skinner for the lavish ball scene.
Anna said: “The film has been an amazing opportunity to use tiaras because all of our women are now married. We were loaned them for the ball, but that meant that all of the replica jewellery needed to stand up on quality next to a handful of carats, glittering away on Violet at the side of the dancefloor.”
The ‘Downton Abbey’ film – directed by Michael Engler – hits cinemas on September 13.

Millie Bobby Brown’s Florence range inspired by grandmother

OHMYGOSSIP — Millie Bobby Brown’s new beauty range was inspired by her grandmother.
The ‘Stranger Things’ star named her Florence line after her beloved grandma, and she was determined to make sure the collection was influenced by her best qualities.
She told PEOPLE: “My grandmother embraced her individuality a lot and she expressed herself. I definitely relate to that. I’ve been told I’m like her in that respect, and I wanted that to represent my brand as well.”
The 15-year-old actress also wanted her first ever beauty range – made up of nine skincare and four makeup items – to meet the needs of people her own age and enhance rather than conceal.
She explained: “I think there was a void in the market for young people and I think every young person deserves to have a good start to their skincare routine and beauty routine…
“Lightweight makeup is very important. You don’t want to cover up you beauty. You want to add to it. I think that’s what we were missing.”
Meanwhile, Millie – UNICEF’s youngest ever Goodwill Ambassador – was also determined to make sure the line was entirely PETA cruelty-free.
She added: “I believe that animals should have absolutely nothing to do with clothing or beauty or skincare. Animals are meant to be in the wild and meant to be free. Therefore, it was always my priority for it be vegan.”
The collection is Millie debut in the industry, and she is determined to see her brand grow with her audience.
She said: “Beauty and skincare is always evolving, and Florence is going to grow with [it], and a lot of other people like me,
“It’s going to create a family. I’m really excited for Generation Z to evolve, and for my brand to evolve with it.”

Hilary Duff launching makeup range next week

OHMYGOSSIP — Hilary Duff is set to launch her own makeup range net week.
The 31-year-old star is taking her first steps into the world of beauty with her Nudestix capsule collaboration – set to be unveiled on Tuesday (10.09.19) – and she wanted to shun the typical California style with her range.
She told WWD: “The colors were a nod to the fall. There are a lot of pink and ethereal tones in there.
“I’m a California girl and everything is like, bronze-y and golden, and I’m sick of that. I want my sweater and I want pearlised tones.”
The upcoming range – dubbed the Daydreamer Palette – features a blush, three eye colours, highlight and a balm for both lip and cheeks.
Although Hilary is an investor in the brand, she revealed she pitched herself to the company to front the collection.
The ‘Lizzie McGuire’ actress explained she has “always” wanted her own beauty range, but her busy career and home life means she just doesn’t have the time to fully commit to it.
Instead, Hilary has found a middle ground which could eventually lead to a more hands on approach in the future.
Se added: “I’ve always dreamed of doing [my own beauty line], and I just don’t have enough time.
“Between both coasts and I have two kids and I have my hands in a lot of different pots, and the market’s really saturated. I don’t really know exactly where I would fit in right now.”

Adriana Lima wants fashion industry to be more inclusive

OHMYGOSSIP — Adriana Lima says the fashion world still has “a long way to go” to become a truly inclusive industry.
The former Victoria’s Secret Angel has been working as a model since she was a teenager and she has been delighted to see the industry change in recent years to include models from all different races, plus-sized stars and LGBTQ catwalk performers.
However, Adriana insists the industry can still do more to “send a message of representation” to the world.
In an interview with PEOPLE, she said: “I am happy that it has become more inclusive of people of different races and sizes, but of course there is still a long way to go. My hope is that the industry sends a message of representation. I want any young girl or boy to be able to open up a magazine or website or Instagram, however they view fashion, and feel represented in a beautiful and positive way.”
The Brazilian star – who has two young daughters, Valentina, nine, and Sienna, six, with her ex-husband Marco Jaric – is always committed to spreading positivity through her work and her aim is to inspire young people to always believe in themselves.
She said: “I tell them [young people] to be true to yourself and believe in yourself. No matter what, push yourself and never give up. I have been in this business for over 20 years and it hasn’t always been easy, but you have to believe in yourself.”
Adriana – who is the face of the 2019 fall campaign for BCBGMAXAZRIA – has also opened up on how she copes with the demands of her career whilst also raising her two children and she admits it takes “a lot of organisation” and the support of her family to be able to do both.
She said: “It’s not easy to balance work and family. You have to know your own boundaries with work and your family. Deciding what takes priority in that moment and not beating yourself up over it.”

Sam Smith feels ‘so good’ in heels

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Smith felt “so good” after wearing heels to an industry event for the first time at the GQ Men of the Year Awards.
The 27-year-old singer donned a pair of heeled boots to the annual awards ceremony held at the Tate Modern in London on Tuesday (04.09.19), which marked the first time he has ever worn heels to a red carpet event.
And Sam – who paired his boots with a black lace shirt and a classic black tux – feels so happy to have been able to wear the footwear without fear of prejudice.
Posting a picture of the boots on Instagram, he wrote: “Tonight I wore heels for the first time to an award show. I’ve just got home from a gorgeous evening and as I was walking to my front door I stopped and listened to my heels clonking against the floor. And I just thought ‘F**K YES’!! There was a time where I thought I’d never ever ever be able to be myself like this in front of the industry or anyone. It feels so good and I just wanted to share that with you all, and share a picture of my GORJ Gucci heels. They’ll always be my virgin heels (sic)”
Although the award show marked the first time the ‘Too Good At Goodbyes’ hitmaker has worn heels on a red carpet, he is no stranger to donning the statement footwear in every day life.
In June, he posted a picture on Instagram of himself wearing a pair of platforms made by SYRO, a brand that specifically makes heels in men’s sizes.
He captioned that picture: “I have ALWAYS wanted to find a heel I could wear everyday to the shops. dream come true!! I love you @shopsyro (sic)”
Sam’s bold platform boots were Syro’s Golfo silhouette, a squared-toe bootie in black patent that retails for $230 and is available in sizes 8 through 14.

Lizzo suffered skin disaster

OHMYGOSSIP — Lizzo thought her skin would “never come back” after a makeup disaster.
The 31-year-old singer has admitted she never used to remove her makeup before bed when she was on tour, but learned the hard way that cleaning her face was important when her skin became “red and irritated”.
She explained to The New York Times: “I was on the road, and I was sleeping in my makeup a bunch. It was so embarrassing. What am I, a child? And I was waking up and thinking I’m invincible, nothing can happen to me! Then one day my face broke out – not even broke out in acne, but red and irritated. I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is what happens when you party all night and you don’t wash off your makeup.”
The ‘Juice’ hitmaker was “scared” by the look of her skin and feared it would never return to normal, but after going through “skin rehab”, she thankfully managed to get her face looking healthy once again.
She added: “I went through skin rehab. Listen, I was in face masks – the Peter Thomas Roth green tea face mask, literally every night. It was really scary. I thought my skin would never come back.”
Lizzo now swears by an extensive skincare routine that includes plenty of Sunday Riley products, including face washes and oils.
She said: “I told my makeup artist, Alexx Mayo: I really have to get serious about my skin care, and he introduced me to the Sunday Riley products.
“I have the C.E.O. Glow oil – it’s so sick. There’s vitamin C and turmeric in it. I’m obsessed with the way vitamin C smells – like oranges. I love oils in general. Black girls, we’re always using cocoa butter, coconut oil and shea butter on our bodies. I’m an oily bitch.
“If it’s night, I use Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip face wash. I have the whole Sunday Riley system now. I don’t mix systems. I would mix if I felt like it, but if it works for me, I don’t mess with it.”

Kim Kardashian West has entire closet for Yeezys

OHMYGOSSIP — Kim Kardashian West has a “whole shoe closet” just to house her Yeezys.
The 38-year-old reality star owns “every” boot and Yeezy Boost 350 thanks to her husband and rapper Kanye West being the creator of the sneaker brand, and has said she’s now “running out of room” in her shoe closet, which was specifically built to house her mammoth collection of “workout sneakers”.
Speaking in a video on her Instagram Story, Kim said: “I built a whole shoe closet for just my workout sneakers, basically just for all my Yeezys.
“Now I’m running out of room. I have every boot, every [Yeezy Boost] 350. This is when it starts to get fun when there’s like all the colour ways. And then there’s like some OGs up there.”
The ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ star is known for her organisation skills, and previously insisted her decision not to make her closets look “too full” is purposeful.
She said: “First I had everything, and then I couldn’t sift through everything. So I have a process of editing.”
Kim – who has North, six, Saint, three, Chicago, 19 months, and Psalm, three months, with Kanye – now keeps most of her excess clothes in a temperature controlled storage facility, and uses an app to keep track of her collection.
She added: “All of my old clothes go into a storage facility that’s temperature controlled, and I have different sections, like one for all my Met Gala dresses. Each thing is in a garment bag with a photo of me at the event.
“I have this app that has everything photographed and everything has a number so I can say, ‘Hey, this item was pulled.’ As we take things out, I log it out or log it back in.”

Jennifer Aniston’s trusty skincare routine

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Aniston has followed the same skincare routine since she was 15.
The ‘Friends’ star has admitted her flawless skin is achieved by a simple skincare routine that she hasn’t changed in decades, after her mother told her the importance of keeping her skin in check when she was a teenager.
She said: “I think it’s because my mom told me to start moisturising when I turned 15. I’ve been using Aveeno since I was a teenager.”
Jennifer became a spokesperson for the skincare brand back in 2013, after admitting she had plenty of experience with their products.
And although her mother’s advice has stuck with her, the 50-year-old actress has also taken tips from others in her close circle, including pal Jillian Dempsey, who offered up a vibrating 24-karat-gold sculpting bar to help Jennifer keep her skin looking as bright and tight as possible.
The ‘Murder Mystery’ star told InStyle magazine: “It feels so damn good to put oil on your face and just roll.”
Meanwhile, Jennifer previously revealed her number one pet peeve when it comes to beauty, is having someone else’s fragrance rub off on her.
She said: “No one wants to go into an elevator and then walk out smelling like someone else! That’s something I have a pet peeve about: Someone giving you a hug and they’re loaded with some really horrible scent and you’re just like, ‘Oh now I smell like that person for the rest of the day!’ I hate that.”
The star created her first fragrance in 2011, and has said she likes to spray the product in the air and then run through the mist, in order to make sure she doesn’t get “overwhelmed” by the scent.
Speaking previously about her method of applying the product, she said: “I usually also love to spray it in the air and run through it, so you have a hint of it, but you’re not overwhelmed by it.”

Ariana Grande files lawsuit against Forever 21

OHMYGOSSIP — Ariana Grande is suing Forever 21 for allegedly using her likeness in an advertising campaign.
The ‘God is a Woman’ hitmaker has reportedly filed legal documents to take action against the American fashion retailer, after claiming they launched a new advertising campaign which used imagery that was strikingly similar to those used throughout the singer’s ‘Thank U, Next’ album.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, 26-year-old Ariana had been in talks with Forever 21 in December 2018 for an endorsement deal, but the plans fell through after the franchise wouldn’t meet the fee to use her name and likeness.
But instead, the retailer has now been accused of stealing her likeness for a campaign which ran across their website and social media, with Ariana’s documents alleging they also hired a look-alike model for the shots.
The documents accuse Forever 21 of posting at least 30 unauthorised images and videos misappropriating Ariana’s name and likeness.
Ariana claims the company stole imagery from her album to create the false perception that she was backing the Forever 21 brand, and has accused the company of stealing scenes and shots from her recent singles and music videos, specifically ‘7 Rings’.
The ‘No Tears Left To Cry’ singer is suing for at least $10 million in damages.
And Ariana isn’t the only star to have taken on a fashion retailer recently, as Kim Kardashian West was awarded $2.7 million in July after taking action against Missguided USA.
Kim sued the fashion brand for damages of at least $10 million, disgorgement – which means giving up something obtained by illegal or unethical acts on demand or by legal compulsion – of the company’s profits, and a permanent injunction to stop the online retailer from future infringements in February after accusing them of using her name and image without permission.

Richard Madden: I don’t deserve to be the Most Stylish Man

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Madden doesn’t think he “deserves” to be named the Most Stylish Man.
The former ‘Game of Thrones’ star bagged the award during the GQ Men of the Year awards at London’s Tate Modern on Tuesday (03.09.19), and has said that whilst he’s thankful for the honour, he believes it is his stylist who should take the credit for dressing him in fashionable clothes.
Speaking on stage after being handed the award by Rita Ora, Richard said: “My friends will find it most amusing that I’ve won this award, one I don’t really think that I deserve. Actors mostly spend their lives wearing other people’s clothes, and so it really is other people who should take the credit for this tonight.
“So thank you very much to Hugo Boss for this gorgeous tux, and thank you very much to Gareth Scarfield, my stylist, who finds many ideal ways to cloak all of my insecurities. Thank you, Gareth.”
The 33-year-old actor will next be seen as Ikaris, one of the lead characters in the upcoming Marvel movie ‘The Eternals’, and has joked his costume for the flick will mean he’s unlikely to win the award again next year.
He added: “For the next few months, I will be wearing mostly a tight blue cosmic superhero costume, so not much chance of winning again next year, I fear. Thank you very much, GQ and Dylan Jones, this is a very kind honour. Thank you.”
Meanwhile, speaking to GQ magazine in a feature about his win, he described his style as “classic and simple”.
He said: “I always think of myself as being quite classic and simple. It looks effortless, but it takes a bit of thought to make a simple T-shirt and bomber jacket look really smart and cool.”
