Nikki Reed’s recycled jewellery

OHMYGOSSIP — Nikki Reed’s jewellery line is primarily made from recycled technology components.
The ‘Twilight’ actress works with computer company Dell to obtain the metals used in her BaYou With Love – which is made from entirely recycled or sustainable materials – collection and has praised the firm’s “incredible” work to be eco-conscious.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: “I use gold that’s been found in recycled technology primarily in recovered motherboards and my partner for that is Dell. So we use gold that’s been extracted from the motherboards in their recycle technology.
“Michael Dell is actually incredible. I mean he really prioritises sustainability within their supply chain and has for many, many years, actually decades.”
Among those supportive of Nikki’s line are actress Bryce Dallas Howard, who praised her friend’s “innovation” to create something sustainable beyond her own “wildest dreams”.
Speaking at the 2nd Annual Environmental Media Association Honours Benefit Gala – where many of the guests were wearing BaYou With Love – said: “I’m wearing all of her jewellery right now and its absolutely incredible because the idea of saving the world people think that’s going to require solely lifestyle changes and its not just that. It requires innovation.
“What Nikki has done is she has created a jewellery company that is entirely sustainable to a degree that my wildest dreams couldn’t even imagine…These diamonds are grown and they’re molecularly identical to diamonds that would be mined. They’re grown using solar power.”
Another guest at the gala, ‘Entourage’ star Emmanuelle Chriqui, thinks the concept of sustainable fashion is growing around the world.
She said: “Nikki and myself tonight are wearing a brand called AMUR and it’s so beautiful … Fashion is starting to become conscious because I feel like globally people are realising we can’t sit back anymore. Everybody’s gotta do their part.”

Duchess Meghan’s hairdresser’s excitement

OHMYGOSSIP — Serge Normant felt like a “little boy” on Duchess Meghan’s wedding day.
The hairstylist created the former actress’ look when she wed Prince Harry in May 2018 and he was “very excited” to be a part of such a huge occasion.
Discussing the high-profile job for the duchess – who was then known as Meghan Markle – he said: “I was just very excited. I was like a little boy.”
Serge, who has also worked with the likes of Julia Roberts, Sarah Jessica Parker and Taylor Swift, developed his career ambitions as a young teenager, when his mother allowed him to cut her hair.
Speaking in The Hollywood Reporter’s digital series ‘Magic Hour’, he said: “I remember the first time I did my first haircut was on my mom, and I was 13 years old.
“I think I became a hairstylist at that moment. It kind of directed me in the place where I knew that that’s what I wanted to be.”
And while he was incredibly shy growing up, Serge felt at home as soon as he got his first job in a salon.
He said: “I was just extremely shy, so for some reason, I used the salon as almost my stage. It was my happy place. It threw me right there.”
Years later, the stylist still hasn’t lost that feeling and hopes his clients all leave his chair feeling “amazing” about themselves.
He said: “I still get that feeling and that drive and that excitement. The day I won’t have it anymore, I think I will stop.
“I don’t want it to become something that’s not pleasurable.
“If I meet a client for the first time, I want her to feel like she’s welcome in my chair, and I want her to feel like she’s been appreciated. When someone leaves my chair, regardless of who that is, and I know I’ve made a little bit of a difference on that day. It’s an amazing feeling to have.”

Charli XCX wants the Spice Girls’ wardrobe

OHMYGOSSIP — Charli XCX would love to have the Spice Girls’ wardrobe.
The ‘Boom Clap’ hitmaker is a huge fan of the girl band – which is made up of Victoria Beckham, Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton and Geri Horner – and would have loved to have got her hands on their 90s clothing collection.
Asked what cult piece of fashion history she would have liked to own, she said: “Probably any of the Spice Girls’ wardrobe – all of their looks were iconic! But actually I’d give Geri’s Union Jack dress a miss. I don’t really like flags and it would feel a bit too nationalist nowadays.”
And Charli would have loved to walk in Alexander McQueen’s iconic 1997 runway show because it was “so punk and political in such a literal way”.
She added to Dazed magazine: “Firstly, me walking in a runway show is a hilarious idea, I would probably fall or do something ridiculous! But if I had to, it would be Alexander McQueen’s 1997 It’s a Jungle Out There show. I recently watched the documentary on his life while I was on a place and I found it all so overwhelming and emotional.
“He was a true original. This particular show was insane and so disruptive, with the students storming the entrance to sit among the invited industry guests and celebrities. It was so punk and political in such a literal way. And it was funny! Like, when the same students knocked over the gasoline container causing the car to go up in flames and everyone just thinking it was part of the production! People never know what’s real and what isn’t, but they’re willing to believe it all if it’s convincing enough.”

Victoria Beckham feels empowered by colour

OHMYGOSSIP — Victoria Beckham feels “powerful and strong” when she wears colour.
The 45-year-old star showcased her latest collection at London Fashion Week earlier this month and she admitted the “strange mix” of hues showcased on the runway were put together to make her customers feel better than ever.
Speaking to Grazia magazine, she said: “It’s really about what my customer wants. What excited me about this collection is the strange mix of colours.
“I feel powerful and strong when I wear colour and that’s how I want my customer to feel.”
Victoria has also recently launched her first beauty collection alongside industry expert Sarah Creal and they spent months “constantly” discussing all the aspects of the collection.
Sarah said: “I don’t think there’s been a single day in the last nine months where I’ve woken up without a message from Victoria.
“We have a WhatsApp group with our product developers where we constantly discuss everything.”
Sarah recalled how she first met with the former Spice Girls singer – also known as Posh Spice – to discuss plans for a beauty venture, four years ago, and came across Victoria surrounded by 15 years’ worth of her own make-up.
She said: “I thought, this is either going to be insane or a total blast. It’s been a blast, I’m happy to say.”

Annabelle Wallis feels ‘naked’ without mascara

OHMYGOSSIP — Annabelle Wallis feels “naked” without mascara.
The ‘Peaky Blinders’ star likes to keep her make-up looking natural during the day – even to the point where it looks like she’s not wearing anything – but she can’t bear it if she doesn’t have any product on her luscious lashes and makes sure she gives them a “nice coat”, without making them look “spidery”, before she goes out.
Speaking to Vogue magazine, the 35-year-old actress said: “I don’t like people to notice what make-up I’m wearing, so anything that’s light and sheer is great, which is why I love using Armani’s Luminous Silk Foundation just under my eyes and around my nose.
“I also like the Power Fabric Concealer because it’s really lightweight. I’ll then apply mascara, such as Armani Eyes to Kill; if I don’t wear mascara, I feel a bit naked. I have really long lashes and they’re quite naturally curly, so I give them a nice coat but I don’t want them to look too spidery.
“I will generally use bronzer for my cheeks and brush some on my eyelids to keep it natural – I try and have a “no make-up” make-up look in the daytime.
“If I add anything else to my eyes, it’s a tiny bit of brown just in the corners to open them up a bit; they do this on every film set. I also love a tinted balm in neutral tones, and the Armani Colour Sketcher in Dragee Pink matches my brownish lip.”
Even though Annabelle grew up around “glamorous women”, she was a big of a “tomboy” and didn’t see the point in facials until she started working in showbiz.
She explained: “Facials: I’m learning to do more. It’s not in my nature, as I grew up a tomboy doing motocross and horse riding. I was like a boy for so long.
“But then when you start working, people begin telling you that you need to look after your skin and you realise the value of having good quality skin, so I keep trying to do facials.
“I prefer a massage over a facial, but again, the idea of spending time on yourself is very important – it comes through the skin.
“I try to have one day a week, usually a Sunday, where I am off and I’ll have an at-home massage or run a bath with oils in it and it’ll be all about my body.”

He said: “The perfect embodiment of healthy beauty, our new spokesmodel is the icon of wellness, generated by a unique idea of healthy and purely authentic beauty.

“I think I’ll retire only the day I die, because I love working. I love creating. I think that’s why we’re here: to keep creating, expanding and learning.”

Iman proud of fashion changes

OHMYGOSSIP — Iman is “very proud” of how the fashion industry has become more diverse.
The 64-year-old model has noticed a “visible and palpable” change on the runway over the last few years and she is thankful to “be a part of” the more inclusive moment.
She said: “This is a world that needs diversity.
“I’m very proud of how the industry has changed and continues to change.
“It’s an amazing thing to see and be a part of. At the end of the day, I just want the world to be a better place.”
In 2013, Iman teamed up with fellow catwalk star Naomi Campbell and model-turned-activist Bethann Hardison in association with Hardison’s Diversity Coalition to combat a rise in discrimination in the industry and urged designers to take more responsibility in the selection of models they used.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: “At the time, lots of designers stopped using black models. Casting agents were saying, ‘We don’t need black models this season’ — as if we are nothing more than a trend.
“We wanted designers to include models of color and to think about their casting, to take responsibility for their casting and we wanted to articulate that casting agents should not be speaking for the designers. So, we spoke to everyone we could about why that was important.”
And Iman admitted equality is “everything” to her.
She said: “I studied political science in school, so I view everything through politics — whether it’s the politics of refugees or it’s the politics of beauty or the politics of fashion.
“Equality is everything. After I retired from modelling, I continued to push for more diversity.”

Rihanna unveils new Fenty collection

OHMYGOSSIP — Rihanna unveiled her new Fenty collection at Paris Fashion Week.
The ‘Diamonds’ hitmaker showed off her new workwear-inspired collection at the annual fashion event, which will launch on September 26 on the Fenty website.
The new collection is a see-now-buy-now one and also features graphic t-shirts and a selection of denim pieces as well as a black turtle neck jumper.
Meanwhile, Rihanna previously revealed she wants women to feel their “sexiest” in her clothes.
She said: “The most important message is that this a line designed by a woman for women. It’s for women to feel their sexiest, their boldest, their most feminine, their most masculine, their most, period.
“I’m a curvy girl, and if I can’t wear it myself, it’s not going to work. I need to see how it looks on my hips, on my thighs, on my stomach – does it look good on me or only on a fit model? It’s important.”
Rihanna has adopted a direct-to-consumer capsule approach to Fenty because she doesn’t want to “tease” fans with previews of the clothes months before they go on sale.
She added: “There is no six-month wait, you get it when you see it. There’s no tease. You see it, love it, and want it and that’s because I’m like that, I want things right away.”
The 31-year-old singer is involved in every aspect of her clothing business.
Jaheel Weaver, her junior creative director, said: “She picks every single fabric, she picks every colour variation, every detail.”
Whilst another of the brand’s designers, Matthew Adams Dolan, added: “A lot of people would think of her being quite hands-off. In reality, she is very attached and involved in every single decision. It’s about a relationship. That is one of the things that sets her apart, the idea of family.”
Rihanna shared: “We can create and understand each other implicitly — sometimes we don’t even have to speak, we just know what feels right. We love the energy of the youth and that is something we are creatively focused on within each release.”

Maisie Williams wanted mature look

OHMYGOSSIP — Maisie Williams wanted to look “more mature” at the Emmy Awards.
The 22-year-old actress walked the purple carpet on Sunday (22.09.19) in a custom asymmetrical black gown, which was embellished on one side – which was designed by her boyfriend Reuben Selby and made by JW Anderson – and her sophisticated appearance, which included dying her statement pink hair back to brown, was intended to signify her starting a new chapter in her life now ‘Game of Thrones’ has come to an end.
Her hairstylist Ryan Richman said: “The dress is elegant, but the asymmetry and black color gave it a bit of edge and moodiness.
“We wanted to take Maisie in a more mature direction as she is exploring new roles now that ‘Game of Thrones’ has come to an end. The first step was changing her hair colour from pink to a natural brunette.”
When it came to her make-up, Maisie and her team opted for “cool classic French girl vibes” and her make-up artist, Kindra Mann, admitted she loves working with the British star because she’s always open to trying new things.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: “I love working with Maisie because she’s such a chameleon with her look and likes to play and switch things up.”
Maisie previously explained how she had asked Reuben to design a dress specifically for her to wear to the Emmys.
She said in a statement: “I’ve always wanted the perfect custom red carpet dress–something that I feel really confident and comfortable in.
“I asked Ruben if he would design something with me in mind; my height, my shape, my likes and insecurities. I love collaborating on the dresses I wear, I wish I could do it more. Being five feet tall it is almost impossible to wear something straight off the hanger.”

No anti-ageing products for Victoria Beckham

OHMYGOSSIP — Victoria Beckham thinks anti-ageing products are “bulls**t”.
The fashion designer has recently launched the first products in her beauty range and though she’s planning to expand the collection, she just wants people to “celebrate” their appearance, rather than try to turn back the clock.
She said: “It’s not about trying to make ourselves look different or any younger.
“I’m not going to be coming out with products that say they’ll get rid of wrinkles because I think that’s bulls**t.
“We should celebrate who we are and be the best, most powerful version of ourselves.
“We should also celebrate each other and, as women, be strong together.”
The 45-year-old star – who has collaborated with Sarah Creal on the collection – has learned a lot about “clean beauty” while working on her range and now hopes to educate her consumers on the subject.
She told Britain’s Grazia magazine: “I’ve spent years working with the best make-up artists in the industry.
“Sarah and I wanted to create something that is kind to the environment making sure we are using minimal plastic in all the packaging.
“Being kind to ourselves and kind to the planet – we feel that’s a modern take on beauty without having to compromise on the formulas.
“The most important thing for us is to be transparent.
“Before I did this, I was confused about clean beauty and what it meant. People need more information and I’m going to give it to them.”
Victoria also revealed a surprising source of design inspiration for the horn-patterned compact casing for her Smoky Eye Brick.
She laughed: “I took inspiration from a bowl in my kitchen.”

Kate Moss’ collaboration sparked by bad weather

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Moss collaborated on a new vintage fashion book after bad weather halted her travel plans.
The 45-year-old supermodel has guest edited ‘Musings on Fashion and Style: Museo de la Moda’, a collaboration with Lydia Kamitsis Jorge Yarur Bascunãn of Mueso de la Moda and the tome came about after the textile magnate-turned-museum founder was asked to host Kate in Child.
Jorge told The Hollywood Reporter: “When she couldn’t get to Easter Island due to weather conditions, she decided to stop in Chile. A friend of mine asked if I would host cocktails for her and introduce her to the museum.
“When I took her there, I discovered we both had a mutual love for vintage clothes. She spotted a Theo Porter dress that she owned and got really excited.”
Her excitement prompted her host to suggest: “Why don’t we make a book together? It’s just an idea.”
Kate jumped at the idea and eventually returned to Chile to explore the museum’s archive.
In her foreword for the book, Kate told of how her love for vintage clothing began at an early age when she would look for unique pieces from the 1960s and 70s in “jumble sales, the local Oxfams and then I discovered Portobello and Camden markets.”
The book, which is released next month, features a collection of 100 archive pieces from the museum, charting different fashion trends that have inspired Kate’s own style.
It is organised by theme, from 1920s opera coats to 1960s Swinging London, and also includes iconic garments such as pieces worn by Marilyn Monroe, Amy Winehouse, John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix and Marc Bolan of T-Rex.
The museum pieces chosen by Kate are accompanied by anecdotes and photos of the supermodel wearing that particular trend, while the book also includes photos of the British beauty going through the museum’s archive.

Billy Porter wears thousands of crystals to Emmys

OHMYGOSSIP — Billy Porter’s Emmy awards suit featured over 130,000 mini crystals.
The ‘Pose’ star – who scooped the Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series accolade at Sunday’s (22.09.19) ceremony – wore a custom Michael Kors look for the glamorous event and it took over 170 hours to create the outfit.
The designer told The Hollywood Reporter: “We started talking three months ago when Billy saw a white crystal-embroidered dinner jacket and [flared] trouser look that we showed during our resort 2020 presentation. We worked to produce it in all black just for him, with a shift in proportion, and then we connected him with [milliner] Stephen Jones for the custom hat.
“The look took over 170 hours to hand embroider and the pinstripes were created using 51,510 mini crystals for the jacket and 79,200 for the pants.

The 50-year-old actor’s stylist, Sam Ratelle, wanted Billy to “exude class” and create an “iconic” photo moment that would be remembered for years to come.
Sam said: “We’re living our fashion dreams, that’s for sure!

“I want to ensure that, given that he’s just turning 50, this is a monumental moment for Billy and his career. Given that he were to win an Emmy award, I want to make sure that these photos are iconic for the rest of his life and history because we’re going to see them for a while.”
Billy’s suit was accessorised with a Stephen Jones hat covered with chain crystals, a Judith Leiber clutch and Rick Owens platform peep-toe shoes, as well as jewellery from Oscar Heyman.

Chrissy Metz opts for Christian Siriano at Emmys

The 38-year-old actress walked the red carpet at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday (22.09.19) in a liquid silver halterneck dress and her stylist Hayley Atkin hailed the designer as the “perfect choice” for her famous client.
Hayley told People magazine: “Christian Siriano was the perfect choice to make Chrissy’s Emmy dress.
“He is the most accepting and supporting of all body types. Nobody understands the curves of the female body like Christian. When I had the original concept for the gown I knew he would get it completely.
“I knew that Chrissy and him would just adore working together. That makes all the difference.”
The ‘This Is Us’ actress had her wavy hair slicked back at the side and her hairstylist, Marc Mena, used only drugstore products to create her “Pacific Ocean” locks.
This year, Chrissy wasn’t nominated for any awards but she was there to support her shortlisted co-stars, Mandy Moore, Sterling K. Brown, Milo Ventimiglia, and Chris Sullivan.
And the actress was particularly “proud” to see her on-screen mother Mandy and TV husband Chris – who she broke the news to about his nomination finally achieve recognition for their work on the drama.
She said recently: “For Mandy and Chris particularly to be nominated, I did get emotional.
“I’m really excited and proud. Proud seems silly, but I’m really proud and it’s really overdue.”

Regina King’s Emmy gown took 200 hours to finish

OHMYGOSSIP — Regina King’s Emmy Awards gown has 1,000 hand pleats and took “about 200 hours of draping and finishing to perfect”.
