Tom Ford: Nobody wants to wear real clothes anymore

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Ford says nobody “wants to wear real clothes” anymore.
The 58-year-old fashion designer thinks fashion is “consumed” in such a different way and believes there is more “freedom and expression” now.
He said: “Nobody wants to wear clothes. It’s changed a lot since I first started in fashion. People wore real, proper clothes all day long. And then you also changed into proper clothes for evening. Now, people wear T-shirts, jeans, maybe a great pair of shoes, a great jacket, and a bag – no matter who you are. Fashion is consumed in such a different way. You used to have trends in fashion where platforms were the shoe, and they stayed the shoe for two or three years. Now, everything is in fashion all at the same time – fashion, stilettos. There’s more freedom and expression of who you are.”
And Tom has confessed social media has changed fashion too, with designers now creating “slightly cartoon-like” fashion looks that look “silly” in real life but better on photo sharing sites like Instagram.
Speaking to Julianne Moore at Vogue’s Forces of Fashion conference, he added: “The things that photograph well on Instagram are maybe things that in real life can look a little silly. It’s caused us to become slightly cartoon-like. You need that traffic quality, something that will read as an image. Less and less, we react to each other in a real way. Instagram leaves you feeling ugly, fat, inadequate, dull, pathetic, sad. It makes you want to just jump off a building. But I like the ads! I buy a lot of things from them.”

Alex Rodriguez’s daughter’s fashion advice

OHMYGOSSIP — Alex Rodriguez got advice from his daughter before taking to the runway for DICK’s Sporting Goods.
The former baseball player – who is engaged to singer Jennifer Lopez – has revealed his 14-year-old daughter, Natasha, gave him styling tips before he walked in the New York City show.
Asked how he’d describe his style, he said: “Questionable. Some days better than others. Before you walked in here, I had my 14-year-old daughter on FaceTime. She said, ‘Dad, untuck your shirt. Pull down your socks.’ Story of my life – yeah.”
Alex isn’t really into designers but prefers to focus on “fit and comfort”.
He added: “I’m less of a designer guy and more of a fit guy. I’m a big guy. I’m 6-3, over 230 lbs. For me, it’s all about fit and comfort. Sometimes, if a brand costs a lot less, but fits better, I’m great with that.”
The 44-year-old sportsman says it was a no brainer to model for DICK’s Sporting Goods because he’s been a customer for “a long time”.
He shared to Women’s Wear Daily: “First of all, I’ve been a customer for a long time. Being kind of a baseball geek my whole life, any time you can find a place where you can buy balls, gloves and bats and also rock out with some Timberlands and Nike. I’ve been with Nike for over 20 years. It is a little bit of a dying breed – the fact that Dick’s is winning in a big way, continues to win and integrate.”

Miranda Kerr wears false lashes

OHMYGOSSIP — Miranda Kerr wears false lashes to “save time” in her make up routine.
The model likes to rock the lash extensions because it means it will take her less time to get ready for the day when she wakes up in the morning.
Opening up about her beauty routine, she explained: “The vitamin C serum smells incredible. And don’t forget your neck. I just massage in the face oil and the moisturiser using upward strokes to get the lymphatic drainage going.
“I actually have false lashes so that’s a really good way to save time. I actually have false lashes so that’s a really good way to save time. I always love a little blush. I can go a little blush heavy. [It makes me] feel more awake.”
Miranda is currently pregnant with her third child – her second with husband Evan Spiegel – and has confessed her pregnancy makes her hair greasy.
She added to Vogue.co.uk: “I find when I’m pregnant, my hair can get a little more oily.”
Meanwhile, Miranda previously revealed she uses crystals as part of her skincare routine, applying the Glow Face Oil from her beauty line KORA Organics with a rose quartz crystal to massage it into her skin.
She said: “I find that my face, especially in the morning, is really puffy so massaging it is really such a good way to stimulate circulation. I notice a big difference with my skin when I use this crystal because I just feel that it wakes up my skin and it reduces the puffiness. It improves circulation and the way that it curves, you can really get into the jawline and you can get into the eye area and you can just wake up those certain areas and you can really promote that lymphatic drainage that eliminates the toxins.”

Tracee Ellis Ross’ contentious relationship with beauty

OHMYGOSSIP — Tracee Ellis Ross had a “contentious relationship” with the culture of beauty.
The ‘Black-ish’ star – who is the daughter of legendary singer Diana Ross – admits she has had quite an up and down relationship with beauty and its standards as she struggled to find someone who looked like her outside her family.
She said: “I went through those teenage years when everybody is searching to figure out who they are and all of a sudden become so aware of how they look, how they are seen, what’s cool, what’s in. Sadly, there were not a tonne of images, outside of my family, of people who looked like me.
“[I had a] contentious relationship with the culture of beauty that was around me, but didn’t make space for me. As a result, I tried to beat my hair into submission to do what I thought it should do. I straightened it, I dyed it, I fried it.”
The 46-year-old singer and actress has just launched her Pattern Beauty haircare line, which is geared towards people specifically with 3B to 4C hair types, but she admits she has been heavily criticised for not having a “professional” on board.
She added to Glamour magazine: “[The journey] has been fraught with many disappointments, me running up against many of the things that were exactly what made me feel bad about myself. People saying to me: ‘You don’t have the credibility to do this, you need to partner with a professional,’ and me attempting to explain that I, like many women of colour and people with curly hair, have become our best experts because the industry has not supported us.”

She recalled: “I started having panic attacks every six or seven shows. It feels like you’re going to die. It feels like you need to leave the stage. I would act through them, and I would just connect with Tommy. And he would always be aware of it. He would recognise that thousand yard stare. And then he would bring me back and the lines would keep flowing but my whole body would be cold and I’d be sweating at the same time.”

Lila Grace Moss gets make up advice from mother Kate Moss

OHMYGOSSIP — Lila Grace Moss gets make up advice from Kate Moss.
The 17-year-old model has revealed her supermodel mom has been giving her tips on how to put the perfect eyeliner on.
Speaking to Vogue magazine, she said: “She told me to stretch the skin of the eyelid to make it easy to finish the flick – and then to flick it up towards the eyebrow. I make sure to have a steady hand and a zoomed-in mirror because it’s more precise … when you have one further away it’s difficult to get liner close to the lash line.”
However, there is one person Kate will “never” share beauty advice with – her sister Lottie – as they’re “so different”.
She said: “My sister Lottie and I never share beauty advice. She is who she is, she has her own distinct personality and I have mine. We’re so different and she has a really good look going on. Everyone does their own stuff in their own way … I don’t dare give my daughter Lila Grace advice, but I love watching her do her make-up.
“She knows how to use gloss and highlighters. Sometimes I think, ‘How has she done that?’ It never looks the same on me.”
Kate, meanwhile, takes advice from fellow supermodel Naomi Campbell on where to get “good treatments”, although she admits she doesn’t always follow her make-up tips.
She said: “Naomi Campbell is always telling me where to go for good treatments. She gives me make-up tips too, but to be honest, I don’t always listen. When I was younger I wore a lot of black eyeliner and she was always like, ‘Take it off, take it off’, but I loved it too much.”

Jennifer Aniston wishes she’d looked after skin better

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Aniston wishes she’s learned not to take her “gorgeous skin for granted” when she was younger.
The 50-year-old actress is thankful people know better now than to try and tan but when she was growing up, her mum encouraged her to sit in the sun and get a bronze glow.
Discussing what she wishes she could tell her 20-something self, she said: “Don’t take your gorgeous skin for granted.
“When we’re young, no one teaches us. My mum did not slather me in sunscreen — in fact, she might’ve handed me baby oil and said, ‘Bake it up. Tan is everything.’
“She’d get the cheeks really rosy red, which is not cute looking back, but that was their generation.
“Now I think all ages are aware of skin health. We sure weren’t back in the ’90s.”
When it comes to her many on screen alter egos over the years, Jennifer thinks her latest, in ‘The Morning Show’, is the most similar to her when it comes to her beauty regime.
She told Pop Sugar UK: “Alex, who you can see on ‘The Morning Show’ coming out. She can play it up for the big screen but has her offscreen look too.”
And she also had fun transforming into Rosie Dickson in ‘Dumplin”.
She quipped: “She puts a lot of time into that head of hair.”
The former ‘Friends’ star has been the face of Aveeno for several years and admitted she has used their Daily Moisturising Lotion since she was very young.
She said: “My mum first introduced me. It was in my bathroom and she said, ‘You’ve got to put moisturiser on your body.’ I totally fell in love. It was just one of those things, you used it just because it was there and your mom told you to use it.
“I’m a creature of habit, so then when I went out on my own, I went to the same exact store and bought it.”

Vivienne Westwood urges people to buy less

OHMYGOSSIP — Vivienne Westwood wants people to “buys less”.
The 78-year-old designer insists drastic action is needed to tackle climate change and thinks the most important thing consumers can do is “reduce, reuse, recycle”.
She said: “Something has got to happen this year, or else we’re too late.
“It’s not enough to just live the life you’ve got already. You’ve got to stick to the three Rs: reduce, reuse, recycle…
“You reduce the clothes you’re buying, you buy quality not quantity, [and] make sure you want to keep on wearing it. Go to work in an evening dress if you want.”
Vivienne believes her work as both an activist and a designer have become entwined because “each helps the other” as looking “great” helps someone be taken more seriously.
Speaking in conversation with Naomi Campbell for British Vogue, she said: “It’s very, very important to look great if you want to make a point, because then people [take you seriously].”
Naomi credited a conversation she had with the designer when she was just 16 years old for igniting her interest in philanthropic endeavours.
Recalling the tea she and her friend Kate Moss had shared with Vivienne, she said: “You sat us down and gave us a talking to about being conscious in the world.
“That had a big impact on me. It was around the time that I started working with Nelson Mandela in South Africa, so it was all new to me still. You know, they have these posh words for it now, like philanthropy. For me it was just like, you do it because you want to do it.”

Jennifer Aniston had ‘aggressive’ laser treatment

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Aniston was left with a “bloodied” face “for about a month” after a laser treatment.
The ‘Morning Show’ actress admitted the procedure helped her realise that short-term fixes aren’t always worth is as they can do more damage in the long term.
She told Vogue.com: “I had a laser treatment about 10 years ago that just bloodied my face for about a month.
“t was way too aggressive and that’s when I realised that what might work in the short term can be damaging in the long run.”
Instead, the 50-year-old star – who has been the face of Aveeno for seven years – takes a simple approach to her beauty regime but is fascinated by the “science” behind certain products and processes.
She said: “We are sold such a bill of goods wrapped up in expensive packaging but I have found that when it comes to a skincare routine, the simpler the better…
“I’m obsessed with the science bit. I find it very interesting and working with beauty brands like Aveeno helped me to learn that there are so many chemicals in products that really aren’t good for skin.”
Jennifer also likes at-home gadgets such as the infrared sauna she uses after workouts, Jillian Dempsey’s beauty wand – a gold-plated vibrating t-bar that lifts, sculpts and depuffs – and facialist Melanie Simon’s ZIIP nanocurrent device.
She said of the latter: “I have never seen such a result from a little machine like that.”
The former ‘Friends’ star also splashes her face with ice cold water every morning to keep her skin looking fresh and youthful.
She said: “My facialist taught me is just get a bowl of ice water and splash your face 25 times. It’s an old school trick that Joan Crawford used to do–it just wakes your skin up.”

The ‘Big Little Lies’ star recently claimed she is “proud” of her wrinkles.
She said: “One of the things that struck me about ‘Big Little Lies’ was how I saw my own life reflected in each of the characters because I was a divorced woman, I’d been a single mother, a married mother, and I had another child in a second marriage.
“When I saw the first version of it in the editing room, I immediately noticed the little lines on my face and said to myself, ‘I like them, I got them one by one… I worked hard to get these wrinkles.

Amber Heard calls for more sustainability in fashion

OHMYGOSSIP — Amber Heard wants to see “dramatic changes” towards sustainability in the fashion industry.
The ‘Magic Mike XXL’ star feels it is important that the fashion brands make an effort to promote both sustainability and transparency.
Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar, she said: “I think dramatic changes need to be done on an individual level, on a corporate level and a mass governmental level. Transparency is quickly becoming one of the most fundamental elements to consumer drive. I think the markets are shifting dramatically and the younger generations are representing that change quite consistently for their calls for ethics to be involved in every step of any commercial privatised brand.”
Meanwhile, Amber previously confessed she wants to “inspire” others to make a change and is keen to use her celebrity platform and international fame to raise awareness of wider issues.
She said: “Empathy is a remarkably selfless emotion – it requires a person to leave the comfort of their own perceived place in the world and inhabit the experience of someone else.
“It is an inherently frightening and disorienting state of being, one that can be extremely rewarding but also unbelievably draining. I’ve certainly never given anyone an injection nor do I know what to do with a stethoscope. But what I can do is use my platform and my skill as a storyteller to inspire others to take small incremental actions in support of a common cause.”
And Amber previously admitted being a role model is a “burden”.
She said: “I feel incredibly fortunate that I’m in a position where I could be of any help. At times it’s a burden to consider that your life is no longer just yours and it’s not private. It can be hard to know that you can’t function in full – that anonymity is no longer a valid goal and that your actions and words, whether they’re done on a red carpet or in the most intimate corners of your personal life, to know that those aren’t fully yours anymore. That’s a difficult realisation to come to when it does hit you. It’s severe but you grow and move on from that, and on balance, I take into consideration all of the incredible fortune I have being in this position. It’s hard to stay mad at it for long.”

Will previously admitted he “can’t bear” to watch old episodes of ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’.
He said: “It was my very first role and I was very, very focused on being successful so I learnt the whole script and everyone else’s lines. If you watch the first four or five episodes you can see I’m mouthing other people’s lines. It’s terrible and I can’t bear to watch it.”
Will has revealed he would love to be involved in a reboot of the popular show, but would be interested in taking on the role of Uncle Phil – who was originally played by James Avery, who passed away in 2013 – instead.
