Angelina Jolie’s PVC pants caused audition flop

OHMYGOSSIP — Angelina Jolie once failed an audition because she wore “PVC pants”.
The 44-year-old actress has admitted that early in her career she failed to secure a part she auditioned for because of her fashion choices, as the shiny material had “fused together” during her wait to be called to audition.
Speaking about her sense of style growing up, she said: “At school I wasn’t that popular person; I was a punk. I loved leather, PVC, and fishnets. Those were my three favourite fabrics in my early 20s. I remember the first time I wore PVC pants. I was waiting for an audition, sitting in the sun in LA. By the time it was my turn, my pants had fused together. I didn’t get the part.”
But the experience didn’t impact Angelina’s love for PVC, as she also recalled wearing a similar outfit when she married her first husband Jonny Lee Miller, whom she wed when she was 21 in 1996, and eventually divorced in 1999.
She added: “But I loved those pants. I wore something similar when I married Jonny [Lee Miller].”
During her punk phase in her 20s, the ‘Maleficent: Mistress of Evil’ also began getting tattoos, and spoke about one she had inked when she was “feeling lost” and “restless”.
Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar magazine, she said: “I have a tattoo, ‘A prayer for the wild at heart kept in cages.’ I got it when I was 20. I was with my mum one evening, and I was feeling lost. I was restless – always. I still am. We were driving to dinner, and she talked about spending time with Tennessee Williams and how much she loved his words. She told me he wrote that, about the wild at heart. We drove to a tattoo parlour, and I got it inked on my left arm. What she did for me that night was to remind me that the wild within me is alright and a part of me.”

Alexa Demie wants to create a fashion ’empire’

OHMYGOSSIP — Alexa Demie wants to create a “full-fledged fashion empire”.
The ‘Euphoria’ star has found herself hailed as a style icon following the success of the HBO drama – which she stars in alongside Zendaya – and has now said she plans on using her title to her advantage by creating her own fashion brand.
Alexa – who is the daughter of a make-up artist – said: “[I want to create] a full-fledged fashion empire. I love fashion … It’s a part of my journey and part of the empire I want to create.”
The 24-year-old actress is keeping details of her new venture under wraps, but says she is “actively working” on the plans.
She added: “It’s something I’m actively working on that you’ll see soon enough. Rather than waiting around to get picked as the face of an established brand, it’s like, why not create your own?”
And the beauty has already garnered a following for her fashion looks, as fans of ‘Euphoria’ have been recreating the outfits she wears on the show as Maddy.
She said: “To see all of the girls and boys re-creating the makeup looks and wearing the outfits – it’s really exciting.”
Alexa is keen to get stuck in to other projects too, as she’s interested in releasing music and pursuing a career on the other side of the camera.
Speaking to Who What Wear, she explained: “I don’t like being told what to do. I’ve always known I wanted to be really successful and create whatever I want to create.
“I’m a musician, and I love fashion. And I want to direct and write my own stuff. There are so many other parts of me. So now that that’s becoming my reality where I can take an idea to any … producer and have them be excited to make it, that part feels really good.”

Ralph Lauren ‘hates fashion’

OHMYGOSSIP — Ralph Lauren “hates fashion”.
The 80-year-old fashion designer is one of the biggest names in the industry, but has said he isn’t interested in designing clothes that fit a particular fashion trend, as he just wants to create “timeless things” that he likes.
He said: “I hate fashion. I never thought of myself as a fashion designer. It was more about timeless things I liked – and values.”
Ralph insists his goal in his career is to “make things beautiful”, and although his fashion brand is sometimes criticised for being “old”, he says that doesn’t make him “boring”.
He added: “I like old things, but that doesn’t make me boring. It’s how you style them. I love to make things beautiful. Who doesn’t appreciate that?”
And although his designed are loved by people around the world, his children – sons Andrew, 50, and David, 48, and daughter Dylan, 45 – never used to appreciate his eye for style.
He explained: “I used to pick out things from very traditional children’s shops in London for Dylan, and she’d refuse to wear them. The kids in her class were just not wearing that kind of stuff.
“[Andrew once wanted to buy an Armani suit]. I said, ‘If you really love it, get it’. If I’d stopped him, it would have gone badly. He might still be wearing Armani.”
The iconic designer is having his life made into a documentary titled ‘Very Ralph’ – which is set to air on HBO and Sky Atlantic next week – and has praised the director Susan Lacy for not being “out to hurt” him.
Ralph – who researched the director before agreeing to the project – told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: “Well, if I’d thought the director was out to hurt me, I wouldn’t have agreed to it.”

Zac Posen closing down fashion label

OHMYGOSSIP — Zac Posen is shutting down his fashion label, House of Z.
The 39-year-old fashion designer made the “difficult decision” to close down his fashion brand this week, with his 60 staff members being informed of the closure of the business on Friday (01.11.19).
Speaking to WWD, he said: “We had to close up House of Z, Z-Spoke, the whole company. We were in a sale process and we ran out of time. There was a board vote. We had to make the call. My partners and I tried everything possible within our means to find solutions to keep it going. I have been trying to find the right strategic partners at this tough time in retail and in the industry. The clock ran out.”
Zac called the decision “surprising and immediate”, and comes as the designer has made a name for himself in the fashion world since he emerged in the industry in the early 2000s.
The designer was formerly a judge on ‘Project Runway’, and is known for re-designing the Delta Airline uniforms of over 64,000 employees last year, as well as working with Princess Eugenie for her second wedding dress, which she donned last month.
But despite his company’s closure, Zac will likely still have a career in fashion, as celebrities have flooded to social media to share their love for his designs in the wake of the news.
Actress Bryce Dallas Howard posted a picture on Instagram of her wedding dress, which was designed by Zac, and wrote: “Your artistry is a gift that we are so lucky to receive. You designed the dress for one of the most important days of my life, and I can’t wait to see what’s ahead for you as you enter this new chapter. Thank you for everything Zac.”
Whilst Coco Rocha also shared an image of herself in one of Zac’s designs, writing: “My earliest memories of New York fashion are centered around my friend @zacposen, his shows, his gowns and his unstoppable creativity. Fashion has changed an incredible amount in the last 15 years, both for the better and the worse. I’ve always felt a genuine connection to Zac, beyond our mutual flair for the dramatic, we have both been unapologetic disrupters. We changed our own corners of the industry for the better, but in doing so we faced incredibly negative forces because of going against the grain. (sic)”

Nicky Hilton launches shoe collection

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicky Hilton has launched her first-ever shoe collection.
The 36-year-old fashion guru has dipped her toe into the designing of clothes, jewellery, handbags and cosmetics during her time in the industry but never has she created her own footwear range until she teamed up with French Sole.
Speaking to PEOPLE.com, she said: “It was the missing link.”
Her collection includes everyday staples such as loafers, pumps and ballerina flats – which she believes are “the equivalent of a sneaker,” but “more chic and just as comfortable” – in neutral colour palettes ranging from $150 to $225 per item.
She explained: “I really wanted to make timeless shoes. I wanted the customer to be able to have these in their wardrobe for years and years to come. Like for me, leopard is a neutral. It’s never going out of style, it’s so timeless.”
And as if creating her own collection wasn’t personal enough, Nicky has put a unique stamp on the designs by naming them after the special women in her life – such as her mother Kathy Hilton and her sister Paris Hilton.
Nicky has loved French Sole since she was a child because her footwear was the only thing she had freedom with when she attended her strict Catholic school.
She explained: “So, our footwear was our only way of expressing our passion. Walking home from school one day, I stumbled upon French Sole and I just fell in love with their shoes. And I’ve been a customer of them since I was in high school and continued that into mommyhood.”

AJ Tracey ditches jewellery from his regular wardrobe

OHMYGOSSIP — AJ Tracey doesn’t wear his trademark necklace all the time because “London is very dangerous” and he doesn’t want to be targeted for his jewellery.
The 25-year-old rapper – real name Che Wolton Grant – decided to ditch his bling from his day-to-day outfits because he likes to go out in the UK capital like a “normal person” and he doesn’t want to draw attention to himself.
AJ – who is from Ladbroke Grove in West London – saves his jewellery for his gigs now.
In an interview with British Vogue, he said: “I used to wear it all the time but London is very dangerous and I don’t really have security. I like to walk around on my own, I like to be a normal person.”
However, the grime star is determined to stay on trend as he swaps his jewellery for luxury labels – including Louis Vuitton, Kim Jones for Dior and John Galliano at Maison Margiela.
The ‘Thiago Silva’ hitmaker claimed he is a trendsetter after wearing the brand Palm Angels in his music video.
AJ explained: ” I remember when me and Not3s wore it in the “Butterflies” video last year, I said to him, ‘Yo, I’m going to wear this brand, all my LA friends put me onto it.’ I wanted to wear it and he was like, ‘Nah, it looks like Adidas.’ We wore it in a video and then I saw – I’m not going to say who – but another rapper wore it in a video shortly after and now? Oh they’re all wearing Palm Angels. But when I was wearing it, I saw on Twitter everyone was like, ‘Why is AJ wearing fake Adidas?’ [I thought] ‘don’t worry, you’ll see.'”
AJ intends to continue leading the way when it comes to fashion trends and he is a big fan of his friend Virgil Abloh’s brand Off-White.
He said: “Obviously Virgil is a friend of mine and I have to support him as black man in business, but it’s not just that, his garments are actually fire. So, it makes it a lot easier for me.
“Obviously, I don’t want to wear any Off-White things that are in the store, because everyone buys them. I like wearing the things from Japan, because they usually get a different collection than we do.”

Patrick-Louis Vuitton dies

OHMYGOSSIP — Patrick-Louis Vuitton, the great-great-grandson of Louis Vuitton, has died at the age of 68.
The passing of Patrick-Louis – who was a fifth generation heir to the luxury French fashion brand’s founder – was announced by the fashion house via the company’s official Instagram account
The social media post read: “It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Patrick-Louis Vuitton. All our thoughts go to his family, in particular, his sons Pierre-Louis and Benoit-Louis who work beside us, as well as his grandchildren.”
Patrick-Louis had started working for the brand at the age of 22 and became the production manager of the luxury leather goods label in 1975.
Amongst his major contributions to Louis Vuitton label were his opening of the second Louis Vuitton workshop in 1977, whilst he was put in charge of the famous luggage collection as well as Special Orders from 1986.
Michael Burke, chairman and chief executive officer of Louis Vuitton, has paid tribute to Patrick-Louis in the wake of his death, praising him for having an “avant-garde” spirit.
In a statement, Burke said: “Patrick-Louis possessed an avant-garde and modern spirit, along with a ‘strong-tempered personality from the Jura’, a reference he often enjoyed using to describe himself. He always knew how to nourish the House’s heritage and to give vision for the future. ‘Savoir-faire can only exist if it is transmitted…’ was one of his favourite expressions. Patrick-Louis will be heavily missed, especially at Asnieres, in the Special Orders workshop, where the emotions of the teams who worked side-by-side with him are deeply felt.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Katie Holmes “sometimes” exercises with her daughter Suri Cruise.
The ‘Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark’ star’s workout routine involves her going to the gym four times per week at which she participates in yoga, spinning, boxing and dance-inspired classes.
On occasions, Katie’s 13-year-old child Suri – who she shares with her ex-husband Tom Cruise – will join her for some keep-fit, but the 40-year-old actress doesn’t make her join her because that would be “lame”.
Speaking to the December 2019 issue of Shape magazine, she said: “Sometimes I work out with my daughter. It just depends on the day. We have our routines, and occasionally they overlap. But I don’t force her to work out with me because I know that’s lame.”
Katie admits exercise makes her feel better mentally and physically and she combines her fitness schedule with mindfulness routines and a healthy diet, mainly comprised of fresh fruit and vegetables and fish.
She said: “”I’m a big believer in self-care. It’s better for everybody if you’re taking care of yourself. Those moments are really worth it. I like to get massages. I also have a favourite daily ritual: I take 20 minutes in the morning to write down a list of the things I’m grateful for and listen to calming music. It’s kind of a meditation.”
However, the former ‘Dawson’s Creek’ star will allow herself to have a calorific treat now an again and her favourite thing to have on a cheat day is a plat of loaded nachos.
She said: “My favourite food is nachos. I love dessert too – cakes, candy. And sometimes a good hot fudge sundae goes a long way.”

She said: “It’s really, really nice because I’m not afraid to say that I don’t like something. Sometimes when I work with another stylist, I don’t want to hurt their feelings if they have brought me options that I don’t like.
“My mom and me obviously have an amazing relationship – we’re like sisters – she knows my exact style; she knows what I’m going to like and what I don’t like and also she has a very classic style.”
Cary has also worked with Josephine in the past, and she too is delighted with her work.
Jasmine shared: “She’s started styling some of the other Angels [too], so that becomes a lot more fun and my friends get to know my mom really well. It’s kind of like we’re all best friends with my mom.”

Felicity Jones has to curb appetite for crisps

OHMYGOSSIP — Felicity Jones has a ravenous appetite for crisps and she has to be strict on how much snacking she does for her health.
‘The Aeronauts’ star can’t get enough of the salty fried potato treat and when she is travelling for her acting career it is easy for her to gorge on several packets.
Felicity makes sure she curbs her crisps craving in order to stay healthy and maintain a good “balance” in her diet.
In an interview with HELLO! magazine, she said: “Travelling is hard because you get to a hotel and you just want to raid the minibar, so it’s trying to stay off the chocolate and crisps. I love crisps, though, and French fries, but I try to have a balance.”
Despite her weakness for crisps, the 36-year-old English star is committed to eating a varied and balanced diet and always makes sure that she eats five portions of fruit and vegetables a day.
She said: “I’m quite old-fashioned in that I eat five portions of fruit and veg and if I’m shooting, I make myself juices, which is a time-consuming process but worth it. I do a carrot, beetroot and apple juice that’s great for boosting immunity.”
The ‘Rogue One’ star has also revealed that when she wants to pamper herself she will pour herself a hot bath which is inspired by Japanese onsens.
When asked to describe a pampering night in, Felicity said: “I would definitely have a very hot bath with some Epsom salts. I’d take some time to do my skincare routine, give myself a manicure and perhaps a few yoga stretches.
“I tend not to leave the bathroom – in Japan, they have these hot baths called onsens, so I try to re-create my own at home.”
Felicity also admitted that she has a number of style icons, including Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin.
She said: “Brigitte Bardot – I love that effortless French style, but still there’s a confidence there that only the French seem to have. Francoise Hardy – I’m always looking at pictures of her – and Jane Birkin comes up as a reference when I’m getting ready, too.”

Michelle Keegan’s new collection is about being bold

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Keegan’s new collection is “all about being bold”.
The ‘Our Girl’ star has unveiled a new fashion line with online retailer very.co.uk and she hopes the new pieces will encourage people to embrace their style and “stand out from the crowd”.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, she said: “This collection is all about being bolder with your style and standing out from the crowd. I wanted to incorporate statement sequin looks alongside more pared-back tailored pieces to make sure there is something for everyone to look sensational this party season!”
Meanwhile, Michelle previously confessed she feels “well chuffed” when she sees people wearing her designs.
She said: “I often see people wearing the pieces and I’m well chuffed. I go up to them and say: ‘Excuse me…’ And I ask them for a picture. Honestly, it never gets old.”
Michelle admitted she keeps an eye on Very’s website when her new collections launch and she even studies the comments made on each piece as she thinks they’re invaluable feedback.
She added: “I read the comments as well.
“I want to see people’s reactions, I need to know what people are saying and treat it as feedback.”
When it comes to designing her collections, the former ‘Coronation Street’ actress only wants to include garments she would be happy to “buy and wear” herself.
She said: “I’m not a dressy kind of girl, I prefer to wear casual clothes and you can see how that’s developed in the range. As I’ve got older, I’ve grown in confidence and the collections have evolved because of that. So I don’t like big prints, they just don’t suit me. I feel more comfortable in simple clothes.
“Like, I love the denim jumpsuit from this collection. The fabric is really good, it’s not too thick and it holds the body really well. It has to be things I would buy and wear myself.”

Priyanka Chopra praises moisturiser

OHMYGOSSIP — Priyanka Chopra says moisturiser helps her cope with jetlag.
The ‘Sky Is Pink’ actress is forever travelling around the world, from continent to continent, but she credits her skincare routine for making sure she always looks fresh and “bright”.
She told PureWow: “I use the Obagi daily moisturiser. They have this vitamin C line. I feel like the vitamin C really makes my skin look brighter, especially when I’ve been on so many planes.”
Meanwhile, Priyanka previously confessed she is “particular” about what goes on her “money-maker” face.
She said: “I’m a little particular about what goes on my face ’cause the money maker, you know, I want to be a little bit careful. But I, needles on face, like when they do that dermabrasion thing, she started it and I was off the chair, I was like, no, but I’m not someone who does crazy stuff to my face. I prefer to be old school. Moisturiser, facials, like, take care of your skin kind of thing. Lots of water, hydration.
“Beauty as diversity should not be a conversation. It should be normal. So I feel like we need to go beyond the conversations now and actually see it represented and you see that in a lot of people and a lot of representation in marketing and advertising, but I think we need to go beyond it for sure.”
The ‘Baywatch’ actress credits travelling around the globe for opening up her eyes on the endless types of beauty and the cultures within it.
She continued: “I’ve been really exposed to that, which I think instills a sense of confidence in me that no matter what you look like, there is a beauty there and it’s the loss of someone else if they can’t see it … I mean, find your confidence, you know, instead of looking for it in other people’s validation. I think that’s most important is to look in the mirror and be like, ‘I’m good with me. It does not matter what anyone else says.”

Laura Whitmore’s ‘shocking’ old make up routine

OHMYGOSSIP — Laura Whitmore used to think “more is more” when it comes to make up.
The television presenter looked back on her past beauty routine and admitted she regrets how “shocking” it was because she tried to go the extra mile with her look.
Speaking about her old beauty routine, she said: “How I did my make-up when I first moved to London 13 years ago was shocking! I just kind of thought, you know, more is more – which it wasn’t.”
And Laura is quite selective about what beauty products she uses and likes ones with SPF in.
She added: “I’m a fair-skinned Irish lady so anything with an SPF in I make that part of my routine, especially the foundation that I use day to day. It’s IT Cosmetics, they have quite a wide range. I have it in light and fair-light, it’s good because it’s actually quite good coverage but it doesn’t feel that heavy. It kind of feels like you’re just putting moisturiser on your skin – mine can get quite dehydrated.”
The 34-year-old television presenter thinks society should encourage more sustainability in fashion by not criticising celebrities or public figures who wear the same outfit twice.
She shared: “When you see people like Meghan Markle [the headlines say] ‘Oh my god, she wore the same dress twice – shock horror’. But it’s OK to do that. And do you know what’s lovely? Sharing clothes. I borrow clothes from friends all the time and I give clothes to my friends for work things or for TV things. Let’s just use what we have instead of creating more waste.”

Halsey rocks five different looks at MTV EMAs

OHMYGOSSIP — Halsey rocked five different looks at the MTV European Music Awards 2019.
The 25-year-old singer took home two gongs for Best Pop and Best Look at the annual awards ceremony on Sunday night (03.11.19), and she certainly lived up to her Best Look award as she sported no less than five outfits throughout the night at the FIBES Conference and Exhibition Centre in Seville, Spain.
For the red carpet portion, Halsey wore an eclectic print heavy short-sleeved dress, which made a statement with clashing reds and pinks, complemented by wrapped sections of fabric to add texture.
And when it came to collecting her Best Pop award, she appeared in a silvery metallic dress, which hugged her curves and accentuated her figure. The long sleeve dress also featured ruffles around the shoulders and cuffs to add even more drama to the sparkly number.
Halsey also took to the stage to perform her new track ‘Graveyard’, where she kicked off her heels and went barefoot in a white sheer dress. She mounted a horse merry-go-round for the performance, with the sheer dress adding to the dramatic shapes she held whilst on the ride.
It was time for the singer’s fourth outfit when she appeared on stage to present Liam Gallagher with the first ever Rock Icon award. She looked stunning as she showed off her figure with a crop top and maxi skirt silk combo, which was printed with a retro and colourful design.
And when it came to showing off her awards in the winner’s room, Halsey was photographed wearing a set of matching grey tracksuit bottoms and a matching hoodie, still looking like a superstar.
Elsewhere, host Becky G wore a number of showstopping outfits including a bright red organza dress on the red carpet, which was expertly accessorised with a belt whilst she performed an outfit change right on stage by slipping into a little black dress in front of the thousands of people in the FIBES centre.
Dua Lipa showed off her new look with an all black ensemble whilst Nicole Scherzinger looked stunning in a beautiful thigh-skimming red sparkly bodycon dress.
