Cara Delevingne and Kate Moss’ tribute to Karl Lagerfeld

OHMYGOSSIP — Cara Delevingne, Lewis Hamilton, Tommy Hilfiger, Sébastien Jondeau, Kate Moss and Takashi Murakami have all designed white shirts in tribute to Karl Lagerfeld.
The famous faces have all created their own take on the simple white shirt and their efforts will go on display at Pitti Uomo in January 2020.
Pitti Uomo is the renowned international event for menswear and men accessories collections and for the launch of new men fashion projects, and the new designs will be displayed alongside the Karl Lagerfeld collections for fall 2020.
Pier Paolo Righi, chief executive officer of Karl Lagerfeld, described the label’s presence at the Florence trade show as “our brand experience and showcase”.
The fashion designer and creative director of luxury brand Chanel passed away in February at the age of 85 after battling ill health for several weeks.
In June, the world’s biggest names in fashion, including Gigi Hadid, Claudia Schiffer, Valentino Garavani, Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney and US Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, attended a commemorative ceremony at the Grand Palais – the venue of Karl’s Chanel shows since 2005 – to remember the late icon.
The special event featured the work of Chanel, Fendi and the designer’s own eponymous-titled brand.
Tilda Swinton, Dame Helen Mirren and Cara Delevingne were among those to pay tribute to Karl at the ‘Karl For Ever’ event.

Stella McCartney wants Adidas to go vegan

OHMYGOSSIP — Stella McCartney wants Adidas to go vegan.
The 48-year-old fashion designer has worked with the sportswear brand to create vegan alternatives to its popular Stan Smith collection of footwear and Stella hopes it will encourage them to go vegan on more products.
She told Vogue.co.uk: “Consumers really are more conscious of where things come from now, and how they are made. But I think many people don’t really care or can’t tell the difference between the real leather and faux leather pair. It just makes me think how many animals’ lives could be saved if Stan Smith and Adidas would change from real leather to vegetarian leather, and use non-animal-based glues like we use.
“The launch of our vegan Stan Smith brought us a whole new customer which was predominantly the younger generation. So many young people came into our stores to enquire about the Stan Smith, asking questions about what the trainer was made with, telling our staff about why it was important for them to choose a vegan shoe over a leather one and what it represented. This is the future.”
Stella also insisted that the fashion industry needs to take action on the world’s climate crisis.
She said: “The world is crying out for change. The younger generation are standing up and telling us that our house is on fire and that we need to respond like we are in a crisis (because we are in fact in a crisis). As one of the most polluting industries in the world, the fashion industry is now at a crossroads. We need to come together and achieve sustainable change to build a better future.”

Alison Mosshart launches capsule wardrobe

OHMYGOSSIP — Alison Mosshart launches her own fashion line.
The Kills singer has designed a 16-piece capsule wardrobe collection for R13 – the same brand that designs her signature black skinny jeans – inspired by her own clothes.
Speaking to the Evening Standard newspaper, she said: “I’ve been wearing R13 on stage forever. It was a natural collaboration. I’d like people to feel super-powerful in it, because that’s what clothes should do.”
The collection is perfect for any wannabe rock’n’roller with electric prints and Gothic tees, as well as a pair of her trusty black skinnys.
“‘I feel like I’m not dressed right unless I’m wearing my skinny jeans. I don’t know why. I feel like I’m more in my gym outfit when something’s baggy.”
Alison, 40, is always been kitted out with the New York brand’s denim and a black leather jacket after refusing to wear dresses from the age of three.
She said: “I think the last time I wore one, I was three. I didn’t like them. I had the same sort of violent physical reaction to them as I did to chewing meat at 11.”
And as one of the leading women of rock ‘n’ roll, she has righteously stuck to her guns with her fashion choices.
Alison explained: “I’ve never been pressured to dress a certain way by anyone in the music industry. People in the fashion industry try to get me in all sorts of things and I’m like, ‘F**k you.'”
She added: “I’m not a model, never wanted to be, but when I was younger, magazines were like, ‘You have to wear this.’ No, I don’t. I’m here representing my band, which is me representing myself. You just have to fight for yourself. But it’s a weird fight to have. It [the pressure on women to look or dress a certain way] should be changing in every industry. Everybody should get with the programme.”

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show cancelled

OHMYGOSSIP — The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show has been officially cancelled for 2019.
Bosses at L Brands, the parent company of the American lingerie label, have decided to not host the annual catwalk extravaganza and confirmed the decision during a call with financial analysts on Thursday (21.11.19).
L Brands’ chief financial officer Stuart Burgdoerfer said the decision has been made to not go ahead with the runway show – famous for the Victoria’s Secret Angels showcasing the brand’s lingerie as the world’s biggest pop stars perform – whilst the label figures out how to “advance the positioning of the brand”.
Stuart said: “As communicated previously, we think it’s important to evolve the marketing of Victoria’s Secret, that is happening in certain respects now and I think there will be more to come. And with that said, we’re figuring out how to advance the positioning of the brand and best communicate that to customers.”
The news comes after sales of the lingerie brand continue to decline.
Sales have fallen by seven per cent this season, compared to a two per cent drop last year but the brand has continued to drop across the entire year from 2016.
However, Stuart has downplayed the company’s financial state and put the blame on the televised show’s falling ratings in 2018.
He explained to Fortune 500: “We will be communicating to customers, but nothing similar in magnitude to the fashion show … as timing over the years shifted over the years in terms of the airing the fashion show, did we see specific material impact in terms of a short-term sales response to the airing of the fashion show? As a general matter, the answer to that question is no.”
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show has featured top models such as Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Elsa Hosk and Karlie Kloss as well as Bella and Gigi Hadid, have participated in recent events and pop stars to perform have included Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles, Selena Gomez and Lady Gaga.
Meanwhile, Victoria’s Secret hired its first transgender model this year.
After causing controversy in 2018 when chief marketing officer Ed Razek claimed trans women were not part of the label’s “fantasy”, Brazilian model Valentina Sampaio was unveiled as the newest addition to the company’s roster.

Jade Jagger’s jewellery is ‘getting stronger’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jade Jagger’s jewellery is “getting stronger”.
The 48-year-old designer – the daughter of Rolling Stones rocker Sir Mick Jagger and his ex-wife Bianca – launched Jade Inc., an integrated jewellery and fashion brand, in 1996, and also worked as the Creative Director of high-end jewellers, Garrard, until 2006.
Jagger – who has also previously worked as a painter and lingerie model – has been in the jewellery industry for more than two decades and she is still learning the tricks of the trade and currently focusing on “fine jewellery”.
During a Q&A with Acting Editor in Chief of Harper’s Bazaar, Lydia Slater, at this year’s Bazaar At Work Summit on Wednesday (13.11.19), she said: “I guess I’d call myself an artist. I started as a painter but found it difficult to work in that sphere because I was much more decorative than all of my colleagues so I moved into jewellery.
“With my jewellery, it’s been getting stronger.
“I’ve been sticking to fine jewellery with the beautiful gold and jewels that I love.”
Jagger – who has Assisi, 27, and Amba, 23, with her ex Piers Jackson, and five-year-old Ray with spouse Adrian Fillary – revealed that she ultimately decided to leave Garrard because it was difficult for her to “balance” all of the travelling she did with family life.
She said: “Running your own company with nobody to support you is probably the hardest thing to do, but that’s what I’ve gone back to doing because I’m a sucker for punishment!
“I did feel it was hard with family to be beholden to someone else’s needs [at Garrad].
“The travel was extreme, and it was hard on me physically to be straight back in with the kids after long bouts of travel – the balance wasn’t quite right for me.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince Charles is launching his first fashion line.
The 70-year-old royal has teamed up with Yoox Net-a-Porter for the capsule collection, The Modern Artisan, with profits made going to The Prince’s Foundation – which helps the community.
The sustainable range was made in Italy and the UK, with the aim is to get young “skilled men and women to fuse traditional craft with digitally-infused creativity”.
Federico Marchetti, chairman and CEO of Yoox Net-a-Porter, said of the brand’s long-term plans with The Prince of Wales and his foundation: “Designed in Italy and crafted in the UK, The Modern Artisan collection will be an important expression of how talent and technology can work across boundaries and borders.
“This project, part of a longterm partnership between Yoox Net-a-Porter and The Prince’s Foundation, will help equip a new generation of skilled men and women to fuse traditional craft with digitally-infused creativity – and, importantly, to do so sustainably, following the example of HRH The Prince of Wales who has dedicated the last 40 years to building a more sustainable future.”
The Modern Artisan will arrive in summer 2020, with their first autumn/winter capsule.
Charles follows in the footsteps of his son Prince Harry’s wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, in launching a fashion line for charity.
Earlier this year, the 38-year-old royal released a capsule work apparel to benefit one of her royal patronages, the charity Smart Works, which provides support for unemployed women.
The former ‘Suits’ actress broke the news in the September 2019 issue of British Vogue, entitled ‘Forces for Change’, that she guest-edited over seven-months.
Meghan – who has six-month-old son Archie with Harry – wrote: “When you walk into a Smart Works space, you’re met with racks of clothing and an array of bags and shoes.
“Sometimes, however, it can be a potpourri of mismatched sizes and colours, not always the right stylistic choices or range of sizes.”
Meghan teamed up with UK high-street department store’s Marks & Spencer, John Lewis, Jigsaw and fashion designer Misha Nonoo to create the collection.

Kim Gordon takes fashion tips from model daughter

OHMYGOSSIP — Kim Gordon takes fashion tips from her model daughter Coco Gordon Moore.
The former Sonic Youth vocalist and punk fashion muse has revealed her 25-year-old girl – whom she has with ex-husband and former bandmate Thurston Moore – reminds her to “have fun” with her outfits, but she also admitted it’s difficult to “feel your identity” as you get older because you don’t want to “dress like a teenager”.
The 66-year-old star told Vogue.com: “She [Coco] reminds me that it’s good to have fun with fashion and simple goes a long way.
“Little details go a long way, too, whether it’s a pair of sunglasses or earrings – you don’t need very much.”
She added: “When you’re young, beautiful, and tall, everything looks good on you.
“As one gets older, it becomes harder to feel your identity because you also don’t want to dress like a teenager, so it’s difficult.”
The ‘Kool Thing’ singer also revealed that she likes to wear disco shorts on stage because she has “a lot of energy” coming out of her legs.
She told the publication: “Sometimes on stage I’ll wear shorts because I get energy from my legs, so I thought if I wore these spandex disco jeans maybe it would be the same thing.”

Poppy Delevingne is a ‘beauty junkie’

OHMYGOSSIP — Poppy Delevingne has “always been” a real “beauty junkie”.
The ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ actress credits her grandmother for teaching her a lot about beauty and she loved seeing all the “lotions and potions” her relative used to use.
She said: “I’ve always been a real beauty junkie. I learned a lot of beauty stuff from my grandmother when I was growing up. She always had dressing tables filled with lotions and potions.”
And the 33-year-old actress and model wears less make up now she is older as she is “less worried” about how she looks.
She added: “I actually feel like as I get older, I wear less [make up]. I just become more cozy and less worried about how I look.”
Poppy thinks British people are much more “laid back” about beauty than their counterparts around the world.
Speaking to Vogue.com, she shared: “I feel like the Brits are quite laid back when it comes to beauty. We’re more interested in when we can get to the pub. We’re all about pints, less about mascara.”
Poppy previously confessed she worries about looking “too out-there” at big events and likes to play it safe.
She said: “If I am very unsure of a dress code, I like to keep it very, very simple. I think it’s always a little scary if you go too out-there. For me, what I’ll do is maybe a little black dress with a statement heel and a red lip. Nothing too out-there that’s going to get me into trouble.”
Poppy had also explained that sustainable fashion is something she’s particularly passionate about.
She said: “I think sustainability is something that is so, so, important especially now and it’s impossible to ignore what’s going on in the world, and we all have our part to say. I do think we’ve all got a huge responsibility to now wear more ethical and sustainable fashion and so taking these strong stances, I think it’s exciting.”

Marilyn Monroe’s Vaseline trick

OHMYGOSSIP — Marilyn Monroe used to cover herself in Vaseline to achieve a “shiny glow”.
Hollywood actress Renee Taylor has revealed the legendary late model’s amazing skincare routine, but admits when she tried it herself, it didn’t go down so well.
Speaking at an event to celebrate 50 years of the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute, she said: “She came into class with Lee Strasberg one day and I just had to ask what she did. Marilyn told me, ‘I rub my entire body down with Vaseline and then get into a three-hour hot bath every morning. It gives my skin a shiny glow.’ So I tried that. I almost drowned.”
Meanwhile, Marilyn previously opened up about her morning exercise routine.
She said: “Each morning after I brush my teeth, wash my face and shake off the first deep layer of sleep, I lie down on the floor beside my bed and begin my first exercise. It is a simple bust-firming routine which consists of lifting five-pound weights from a spread-eagle arm position to a point directly above my head.
“I do this 15 times, slowly. I repeat the exercise another 15 times from a position with my arms above my head. Then, with my arms at a 45-degree angle from the floor, I move my weights in circles until I’m tired. I don’t count rhythmically like the exercise people on the radio; I couldn’t stand exercise if I had to feel regimented about it.”
Marilyn also liked being able to take things as easy as possible.
She shared: “I hate to do things in a hurried, tense atmosphere, and it is virtually impossible for me to spring out of bed in the morning. On Sunday, which is my one day of total leisure, I sometimes take two hours to wake up, luxuriating in every last moment of drowsiness. Depending upon my activities, I sleep between five and ten hours every night. I sleep in an extra-wide single bed, and I use only one heavy down comforter over me, summer or winter. I have never been able to wear pyjamas or creepy nightgowns; they disturb my sleep.”

Millie Bobby Brown wants to show off her figure

OHMYGOSSIP — Millie Bobby Brown wants to show off her “womanly” figure.
The ‘Stranger Things’ actress has been in the spotlight since she was 13-years-old and now she is 15, she wants to adjust her outfits to reflect her new self.
She said: “I would really enjoy wearing more fitted clothes now. I feel like I’m becoming someone and being a woman so I just want to show that.”
However, Millie knows she is a role model to a lot of young girls.
She added: “I think about the girls who are going to look at the picture, those young girls that are going to look at me and if they think, ‘Wow that’s what I should dress up as.’ They are my age, so those are the ones I think of. I want to make sure that I’m influencing being your age and being who you are in that time of your life.”
The 15-year-old actress finds it “difficult” to dress for red carpet events.
She told Harper’s Bazaar: “It’s always difficult to dress for a red carpet event because a lot of people have opinions and unfortunately you say you won’t listen to it, but you actually kind of have to. For me, I sit there and think, I’m not going to listen to what they have to say, journalists or whoever wants to write badly about my inappropriate outfit.”
Meanwhile, Millie previously confessed she “blocks out” all negativity in her life.
She said: “I block out all negativity in my life, so anyone or anything that’s getting in the way of me being happy will no longer be in my life.
“And I think that toxic people – people that don’t just genuinely make you happy – you need to block out and, obviously, negativity on social media is not healthy.”

Emma Stone: Modelling is like acting

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Stone has likened modelling to acting – just without the dialogue.
The ‘La La Land’ actress has starred in the latest campaign for Louis Vuitton’s newest perfume and has likened modelling to her day job.
Speaking to Elle.com behind the scenes at the shoot, she said: “It’s about perfume, but it’s also about the life of this woman and what she’s experiencing. It’s a great challenge because you do think about your body moving in a different way. It’s saying things through just your eyes. You don’t need dialogue to express what’s happening in the shot, or in the story or in her life.”
Meanwhile, Emma previously admitted she was “overwhelmed by the energy” of Hollywood after moving there in 2009.
She said: “I started to feel overwhelmed by the energy of Hollywood. I would go places, and all anybody could talk about was the entertainment industry. I just felt too surrounded by that … Losing my anonymity after Easy A, it was like being 7 years old all over again. It terrified me.”
And despite finding fame over 10 years ago, the ‘Easy A’ actress admits she still struggles with parts of her job and admits she has to “breathe and get centred” before each interview.
She explained: “Before any interview, I have to sit with myself for five minutes and breathe and get centred because I get so nervous. Interviews are kind of like therapy, except all your answers are being written down and printed. I always want to be on the other side of it. I don’t want to be deconstructed for millions. I’d rather do the deconstructing.”

Bebe Rexha inspired by 90s fashion

OHMYGOSSIP — Bebe Rexha is “inspired” by 90s fashion.
The ‘Back To You’ hitmaker loves the “edgy” style of throwback fashion and she likes how trends “come back around”.
She said: “I love going into a time like the ’80s or ’90s and looking at what the edgy kids were wearing, and then [looking] at what the classic kids would go out in. I’m inspired by that, and I feel that a lot of those trends always comes back around.”
And the 30-year-old singer likes to “mix” classic and edgy styles.
She added: “I like mixing a classic and edgy. I go for a black outfit: a simple black dress or jumpsuit. Then I add edgy accessories to make it a little bit more rock and roll. Or I add a red, because it signifies strength, royalty and power. It draws peoples’ eyes to you. And it looks good on me!”
Meanwhile, the singer feels the most important part of her new Bebe Loves Bebe campaign is making sure there is clothing that suits all body shapes because self-love is very important.
She shared to People Style magazine: “The most exciting part has been definitely being fans show up to meet and greets, and talking about wearing pieces with everyone. It’s really cool and important that [the collection] be for everybody, no matter if you’re thin, or thick. Self-love is important to promote. For me, especially, because self-love was always something I struggled with while growing up. I would look at supermodels in magazines who were always so thin and I wanted to look like that. I think that thin is beautiful, but so is thick, and everything in between.”
