Shawn Mendes uses concealer

OHMYGOSSIP — Shawn Mendes uses concealer.
The ‘In My Blood’ hitmaker’s make up artist Anna Bernabe has revealed her go-to products – including Yves Saint Laurent’s iconic Touche Éclat concealer – for Shawn’s natural look at the American Music Awards on Sunday (24.11.19).
She said: “Communication is trust. I guide my client with each product and why I love it. Then I ask if it’s OK for me to use it. Most of the time they are open because I created a safe space … The design of the Touche Éclat concealer is very chic as well as functional. Men do not want to carry a concealer palette. It blends in with their travel essentials and it’s so easy to apply.”
And Anna particularly likes working with musicians because they are “experimental by trade”.
She added to People magazine: “If you look at the evolution of musicians, you can see that when their sound changes so does their fashion and appearance. That’s when it becomes really fun is when we get to bounce off ideas and try new things.”
It is not the first time Shawn has got involved in beauty as he previously released his own fragrance, Shawn Mendes Signature, which he confessed he spent a “long time” perfecting.
He said: “It took a long time. I had to find this happy medium. For me personally, I have smelled some women’s perfume and said, ‘I would wear that’. I’m sure a lot of women will smell my cologne and be like, ‘Wow, that’s awesome. I would wear that too.’ I’ve always thought of it as [just] this is something that smells good.”

Hoda Kotb’s stop sign engagement ring

OHMYGOSSIP — Hoda Kotb’s engagement ring looks like a “stop sign”.
The ‘Today’ host has likened her new piece of jewellery to the road sign as she confessed she “knows so little” about rings.
She said: “The diamond part is square and around it, it looks like a stop sign. And it’s blue on the edge. Sapphires? I don’t know. But I love it. He put it on and I was blown away by his choice, but I have to tell you I know so little about rings. I just don’t. I have worn the same bracelet and earrings for a year. If someone were to quiz me on what rings are which, I would be in last place. I wouldn’t know anything.”
And the 55-year-old news anchor was so “touched” by the ring, although she admits she would have been “equally happy” whatever ring he had chosen.
She shared to People magazine: “What touched me so much about this ring is that he thought about it. And he thought about what I might like. He went to [Miller] and they were sharing things back and forth unbeknownst to me. He was giving her ideas … It’s a beautiful ring, don’t get me wrong. If it was anything I would have been 1000 percent equally as happy 0 but the fact that he cared over the course of months to try to figure it out – I just assumed if it ever were to happen that he would have gone to a store and bought one. It’s beautiful. He knows I don’t care. He really does know that. But he said it was important for him to choose. And he did.”

Serena Williams’ daughter judges her outfits

OHMYGOSSIP — Serena Williams’ daughter already judges her fashion looks.
The 38-year-old tennis star has two-year-old daughter Alexis Olympia with her husband Alexis Ohanian, and has said the tot looks set for a career in fashion, because she already has opinions on the clothes her mother wears.
Serena recently launched her Serena Williams Jewelry line, and although she won’t be allowing her tot to wear any of the pieces from the collection just yet, she’s already a budding fashionista.
When asked if Olympia will wear anything from the line, Serena said: “Well, we got her a small version of our iconic heart. But other than that, no. They’re mine. Fall back, right now. Not yet. In due time. I do wonder what that’s going to be like when she’s a little bit older. I have no idea. We’ll see. I can’t wait.
“So far, she’s been wearing my heels, so I’m like, ‘She’s going to be in fashion!’ I could’ve sworn today, she looked at me, and she was like, ‘Gee, gah, yeah.’ I was like ‘You like what mommy’s wearing today?’ When I come out sometimes, she’s like, ‘Oohh! Ma!’ ”
And whilst Olympia will have to wait to get her hands on some of her mother’s jewellery, Serena will be sending pieces out to the people in her “circle”.
She added: “We were just talking about, ‘Okay, so who should we send it to? This is going to be exciting.’ We definitely plan on sending some of the pieces to a few different people in my circle.”
Serena’s collection features two different heart design necklaces, which the sporting superstar says are sentimental to her because of the heart pendant she always wears when she plays tennis.
Speaking to InStyle, she said: “One thing that you might not know is that when I play tennis, I always wear a heart. Even the first Grand Slam I won in 1999, I had a heart necklace on. Ever since then, people are superstitious. I’m not … but a little part of me is, which is kind of natural. So I always wore hearts.
“We wanted to come up with a really cool, strong, different form of a heart in different sizes, because why buy another heart-shaped necklace? We wanted to create something that you would want to buy because you haven’t seen it before and because it’s so unique.”
Serena Williams Jewelry is a collection of diamond encrusted necklaces, earrings, rings, and bracelets, with prices ranging from $299 to $9,999.

Lily Aldridge wants her fragrance line to be sustainable

OHMYGOSSIP — Lily Aldridge wants to make sure her fragrance line is “sustainable”.
The 34-year-old model recently released Summit, the second scent from her eponymous fragrance brand, and has said it was her goal in making the product to keep packaging to a minimum, because she gets “so frustrated” when she has to deal with “extra packaging and waste” when ordering online.
Asked why it was important to her to make the scent sustainable, she said: “I’m an online shopper and this is an online brand. I love trying new beauty products, but I would get so frustrated by all the extra packaging and waste that was coming to my house.
“When I was creating this, I wanted to make sure there was as minimal waste as possible while still getting the package to arrive to customers in one piece. There’s still so much more I want to do to make my brand more sustainable, from the ingredients to the packaging.
“It’s been a huge learning process and I’ve gotten a lot of feedback from fans and just people on online, so I can’t wait to keep evolving by trying to do more and do better. This is just the first chapter and I’m really proud of what we did.”
And Lily also opened up on how her beauty routine has changed since becoming a mother to daughter Dixie, seven, and son Winston, nine months, whom she has with husband Caleb Followill.
She explained to InStyle: “Once you become a mom, your beauty routine gets different because it happens whenever you have time to do it. I’m still nursing so I’m using really clean and natural products.
“As far as fragrance, it’s always been a part of my routine. I have about 10 fragrances (including my own) that I love and I wear for different occasions. I wear Haven more for my day-to-day life and Summit feels more appropriate now that it’s fall.”

Bethenny Frankel urges women to attend bra fittings

OHMYGOSSIP — Bethenny Frankel has urged women to get “properly measured” for a bra.
The former ‘Real Housewives of New York City’ star has said she’s “fascinated” by the high number of women who are wearing the incorrect bra size, and has spoken of the importance of attending a bra fitting to find the perfect size.
She said: “I’ve been very fascinated with the fact that none of us are wearing the right size bra. Until you get properly measured, you don’t know your right size bra which is why you’re pinching and spilling over.”
Bethenny recently teamed up with Le Mystère lingerie to host a special one-night event in which she spoke to fans and followers about all things bra, as she wanted to make sure women are aware of bra fitting services and their importance when it comes to comfort.
And the 49-year-old television personality says the perfect fit is only half the battle, as she also believes it’s more important to have practical, “seamless” bras than it is “sexy bras”.
She added to Us Weekly magazine: “90 percent of your bras should be seamless because I know we’re all so hopeful, but what percentage of the time are you really going to need that sexy lingerie bra?
“So for me, I’m 90 percent classic and seamless – but still elegant! – and then maybe 5 to 10 percent sexy bras that do usually just sit in my drawer waiting for their moment … like if it’s Valentine’s Day or someone’s anniversary [or] there’s a unicorn jumping through my living room. One of those.”
Bethenny is no stranger to donning lingerie, as for Halloween last year she dressed up as a sexy Victoria’s Secret Angel, in an all-white lingerie set and iconic giant angel wings.
The star was slammed by some for being “too old” to wear the racy costume, and she later took to social media to defend herself, as well as other stars including the Kardashian/Jenner sisters, who had worn a similar costume.
She wrote: “For those haters, I suppose that monetizing reality TV is not the only good idea that the Kardashians and I have shared simultaneously.
“For those who bash theirs or my body, go hate somewhere else.
“We are mothers and daughters and I chose those very polarizing ruffle boy shorts thus opting to not show my vagina this Halloween.
“I’m in my late 40s. This is my God given body with no receipts attached (a breast lift 12 years ago notwithstanding) to it. Perhaps next year I will go pantyless & await more constructive comments.
“To the rest of you, I had the best Halloween ever, trick or treating with my peanut then dancing w my ladies. XO (sic)”

Millie Bobby Brown launches new Converse collaboration

OHMYGOSSIP — Millie Bobby Brown has launched her second collection of shoes in collaboration with Converse.
The 15-year-old actress teamed up with the sneaker brand to release her own custom collection earlier this summer, and on Monday (18.11.19), she’s set to launch another capsule in her Millie By You range.
Millie’s first line was inspired by the ocean, and whilst this collection doesn’t follow the same underwater theme, it instead features bright colours and bold accessories that are inspired by the 70s and Millie’s love for crafting and DIY.
Writing on Instagram, the ‘Stranger Things’ star said: “So excited to share with you my next collection with @converse – launching on 11/18/19. I designed these with all of YOU in mind. (sic)”
The new collection features an all-pink pair with attached patch hearts, a white and pink style with patch accessories that read “Be You”, and a black pair that come complete with rainbow hearts.
Converse themselves also took to Instagram to show off the new range, with a quote from Millie that read: “I want this collection to tell people to embrace themselves no matter what.”
Meanwhile, Millie recently said she’s keen to start wearing “fitted” clothes that show off her “womanly” figure now that she’s getting older.
She said: “I would really enjoy wearing more fitted clothes now. I feel like I’m becoming someone and being a woman so I just want to show that.
“I think about the girls who are going to look at the picture, those young girls that are going to look at me and if they think, ‘Wow that’s what I should dress up as.’ They are my age, so those are the ones I think of. I want to make sure that I’m influencing being your age and being who you are in that time of your life.”

Victoria Beckham ‘aware’ of preconceptions

OHMYGOSSIP — Victoria Beckham was “very aware” of preconceptions before joining the fashion industry.
The former Spice Girl knew she would be met with criticisms when she decided to turn her hand to fashion designing because of her singing background.
Speaking at a conference in Paris, she said: “I was very aware of the preconceptions, being married to David Beckham, being a Spice Girl, all of a sudden here’s a collection, I knew that eyes would roll. I focused on making it all about the clothes and not listening to any of that.”
And the 45-year-old fashion designer joked that she might not have gone into it at all if she knew then what she knows now.
She quipped: “If I’d known then what I know now, I don’t know if I’d have the courage to do it.”
Victoria was named a Fashion Icon in 2018 and in her acceptance speech, she name checked the Spice Girls’ “girl power” motto in her acceptance speech.
Referencing a lyric from their debut single ‘Wannabe’, she said: “I always told myself, ‘Dream big and then dream even bigger.’ And I wanted to show that if I can do it, anyone can do it. And what you can achieve really can be limitless … They told me at the table, they said, ‘You come all the way from London, you gotta get up there and give ’em what they want, what they really, really want … So many years ago, I started with girl power, and now that message is just as strong as ever but now it’s through the privilege of being able to empower women through my designs.”

Kim Kardashian West felt ‘foolish’ over Kimono mishap

OHMYGOSSIP — Kim Kardashian West was “foolish and ignorant” to think she wasn’t going to offend people with her Kimono shapewear.
The ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ star was forced to change the name of her new collection to SKIMS after she was accused of cultural appropriation.
Speaking on the family’s E! reality show, she said: “My intention wasn’t ever to offend anybody. Foolishly and ignorantly, we never thought that it would be a problem.”
Kim received a letter from the mayor of Kyoto, Japan, Daisaku Kadokawa, about her mishap and she described him as “very thoughtful” and he “very kindly explained” why.
She added: “He was very thoughtful and very kindly explaining to me the meaning of kimono and why that’s so important to their culture. Reading that letter, I felt an understanding.
“I definitely did not want to disrespect a culture. That’s not what the brand is even about – it’s about inclusivity, it’s about comfort, it’s not about making people uncomfortable.”
Kim admitted she feels “kind of dumb” for choosing that name in the first place and lamented dealing with it in the spotlight.
She shared: “I just feel kind of dumb. Like, why didn’t we think about this? It sucks that it’s so public and that everyone can see the mistakes of the brand as they’re live, but I’ve got to just calm down. Everything happens for a reason.”
Kim opted for SKIMS, which she felt just “worked and flowed”.
She said: “I need a name that really does speak to me the way that Kimono did. [SKIMS] is easy, it works, it flows. I just know that this is the right thing to do.”

Naomi Campbell isn’t worried about being relevant

OHMYGOSSIP — Naomi Campbell isn’t worried about being relevant.
The 49-year-old model doesn’t care about “keeping up with anyone” or trying to “compete” and turns to social media to express herself.
Asked if she’s worried about staying relevant, she said: “I hear that word a lot. People talk about it a lot. I’m not trying to stay relevant, I’m not trying to keep up with anyone or compete. I like the fact that I can express myself and have control of my content. It belongs to me, and I can be me, and not have to worry about how it’s edited.”
And the supermodel is “blessed” by all the opportunities she has been given.
Talking about her new project, she added to The Guardian: “I don’t want to write a story just to write a story. I want it to be for young women, to inspire them, or help them in some way. I’m blessed at the opportunities I still have – but how many times was I called a bitch, because I stood up for myself back in the day? Finally it’s balanced out. But it’s not changed me. This is the way I’ve always been.”
Meanwhile, Naomi previously insisted she has never had a “strategy” when it comes to her work, and says her biggest tip is just to make sure you “take time out”.
She added: “I don’t have a strategy. I would work, and then I would not work. You’d see me, and then I’d disappear and do something else and come back. That’s how I’ve basically kept … That’s been the way of my path. I would never quit, I would just take time out. And I think you have to take time out for yourself in life, period, you have to go and do the things you want to do.”

Cardi B: Lady Gaga is my style icon

OHMYGOSSIP — Cardi B has hailed Lady Gaga and Missy Elliot as her style icons.
The ‘Bodak Yellow’ hitmaker looks up to the likes of the ‘Shallow’ singer and the 48-year-old rapper when it comes to her fashion looks, as well as her ‘Hustlers’ co-star Jennifer Lopez, and fellow singer Rihanna.
Asked who her style icons are, she said: “For me, Lady Gaga, Missy Elliot, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna.”
Cardi, 27, has previously teamed up with Fashion Nova to create her own line of clothes, and has said her favourite part of the design process is seeing the final product, as things don’t always go to plan.
She said: “Seeing the outcome, you know what I’m saying? The sketches always look good but a good outcome is the greatest, because sometimes it can be terrible.”
And although she’s designed her own clothes, the most “extravagant” item in her wardrobe is actually a gift from her husband, Offset, with whom she has 16-month-old daughter Kulture Kiari.
When asked about her favourite item during an interview for Vogue’s ’73 Questions’ series, she said: “This Hermès bag that my husband got me for my birthday, it’s so extravagant.”
Meanwhile, Cardi previously spoke about her wishes for her Fashion Nova line when it launched last year, as she wanted the items in the collection to be on par with luxury brands including Chanel and Gucci.
She said: “I want people to be like, ‘Is that Chanel? Is that Gucci? Oh, it’s Fashion Nova – oh okay.'”
The ‘I Like It’ rapper also revealed she wants women wearing her fashion line to look “radiant and sexy”.
She shared: “Every little detail to me matters. I want to make these women look so happy – so radiant, sexy, so corporate and poppin’. I want them to look like they’re wearing Gucci and Prada, but they’re not, they’re wearing my line.”

Victoria Beckham teams up with Augustinus Bader on new skincare product

OHMYGOSSIP — Victoria Beckham has teamed up with Augustinus Bader on her first skincare product.
The former Spice Girl launched her eponymous beauty brand earlier this year, and she’s now begun expanding her label to include skincare products, after first teasing the idea when she first announced Victoria Beckham Beauty.
Victoria has now released her Cell Rejuvenating Priming Moisturiser in collaboration with Professor Augustinus Bader, the German stem-cell scientist behind The Cream, which was named as one of 2019’s most popular skincare products.
Bader’s product features a patented Trigger Factor Complex that works to jumpstart your skin’s repair and renewal functions to heal skin faster and in turn, improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and as a fan of the cream herself, Victoria was thrilled to work with the scientist.
In a press release, she said: “It’s been a dream to develop, with Augustinus, a priming moisturiser that works to improve the health of my skin and gives me that fresh, natural glow that I love.”
The priming moisturiser is a hybrid product that combines primer with moisturiser, and is inspired by Victoria’s own skincare routine.
Victoria’s product implements Bader’s Trigger Factor Complex technology, as well as the lipids, vitamins, and amino acids found in his original cream, but with the added benefit of also smoothing skin so it’s prepped for makeup application.
Bader explained: “It’s the first priming moisturiser of its kind to care for your skin cells while also preparing your skin for makeup application.”
The cream has a lightweight texture that can be work alone to give skin a radiant finish or under makeup, which according to the 45-year-old fashionista, “will enhance your products.”
Victoria’s first skincare product is available at victoriabeckhambeauty.com, and costs $95 for a 30ml bottle, or $145 for a 50ml bottle.

Laura Dern got beauty tips from her grandmother

OHMYGOSSIP — Laura Dern learned to “honour [her] face” from her grandmother.
The 52-year-old actress was raised by her grandmother and her mother, and has said she learned about all things beauty from her grandmother, who taught her how to keep her makeup routine simple and celebrate the features she was born with.
She said: “My grandma raised me with my mom. She was from Mobile, Alabama, and she really honoured her face. The only makeup she wore was lipstick and mascara, and that remains what I consider beautiful. It’s interesting because even though my daughter and I have never discussed it, she loves lip balms and mascara too. So I realise that as a little girl, she was watching me get ready – just like I watched my grandma.”
And while the ‘Big Little Lies’ star – who has son Ellery, 18, and daughter Jaya, 15, with her ex-husband Ben Harper – isn’t a “purist” when it comes to her skincare routine, she does like keeping things as “natural” as possible, especially since teaming up with True Botanicals to become a brand activist for the label.
She added: “I’m not a purist, but I try to keep it clean and natural. I always thought I was very health-conscious about my beauty routine, keeping it simple with a few seemingly organic products. But pollutants add up. Now I won’t use anything that’s not safe for my daughter to use. I don’t want to poison myself. Women haven’t asked questions in the past; we just trusted labels. As we become more educated, it’s wonderful to learn what’s good for us – even if we still have a few vices.”
Laura doesn’t worry much about her appearance, and believes qualities such as “self-confidence” and “wisdom” are “super sexy” in women.
Speaking to InStyle magazine, she said: “Self-confidence, ambition, age, wisdom – those are all things I find super sexy in women. I find no one more beautiful than my beloved friend Isabella Rossellini, and I’ve found her so much more stunning with age than when I first met her.”

Dame Joan Collins hates jeans

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Joan Collins “hates” jeans.
The 86-year-old actress has said that whilst she enjoys wearing “comfortable” clothes, she will never don a simple pair of jeans because she finds them “unflattering”.
She said: “I hate jeans. I hate them, they’re so unflattering. And I hate jeans with holes in the knees, or holes anywhere. I’m not keen on T-shirts with logos, either. I like to be comfortable, but I want to be elegant, too.”
And Joan – who is the face is of the Valentino Christmas campaign, which launched on Tuesday (19.11.19) – also praised fashion designer Valentino Garavani for always remaining “exquisitely dressed” and joining her in shunning denim.
She added: “I don’t really fit in with the LA lifestyle, because everyone’s in T-shirts and jeans, and I don’t like that look. Oh, and neither does Valentino, by the way. Mr Valentino is always exquisitely dressed, which I love.”
The ‘Dynasty’ star hopes that people will “spend more money on clothes” in the future as she lamented the way people have stopped “dressing up”, in favour of wearing casual clothes.
She explained: “I really hope that people will spend more money on clothes, because nobody dresses up anymore. If you do, then people stare at you, or make cutting remarks … well, maybe not cutting, but they’ll say something like, ‘Oh, look at you! You’re all dressed up.’ I find that very sad, because it will be the end of women buying elegant clothes in stores. Everybody’s going to end up in jeans and T-shirts, which I think is tragic.”
Joan also said she likes to keep her wardrobe up to date, and always makes sure to clear out her old garments every few years.
Speaking to Vogue magazine, she said: “You can’t keep clothes for decades. They just don’t look right.”
