Tinie Tempah’s rare trainers collection

OHMYGOSSIP — Tinie Tempah collects rare trainers.
The 31-year-old rapper has a vast collection of footwear that he displays in his London home behind tinted glass and he calls the expensive trainers his “ghetto luxury”.
He told The Observer magazine: “Some people like to collect watches and Gucci handbags. Growing up, trainers were the ultimate achievable luxury. A lot of our heroes were associated with one of the big brands. I’ve got a bit of a collection. It’s my ghetto luxury.”
Tinie previously revealed that his wardrobes go all around his room so that his clothes are on display, which makes it easier for him to get ready to go out.
He said: “I like to see everything when choosing what to wear. My wardrobes go all around my room, so it’s easy to stand back to look at it all. It’s like a clothes shop: it is very organised. I usually have in mind what I’m going to wear, but when I can see everything, I might pick a jacket or jeans I hadn’t thought about.
“I put fragrance on first, so it doesn’t mark my clothes. I like to wear things that show my silhouette, because I feel that I’m in quite good shape. At the moment, my favourite pair of jeans are by Saint Laurent – I bought them in three colours. If I’m going for a more comfy look, I wear tapered high-end jogging bottoms. I like accessories, too: a pair of clear specs, maybe, or a nice watch. I know some people like their watches to look bashed-up vintage, but I prefer them nice and polished. Everyone has their own style, but my biggest no-no is dirty clothes.”
Tinie has revealed in the past that his love of fashion and design was inspired by his mother Rosemary Okogwu.
He said: “I would say the whole process of making clothes and textiles came from my mum. She used to go and buy fabrics from factories in Germany and Switzerland.
“That’s where I used to see my mum buy this much fabric, give it to a lady and that lady would turn it into a dress. I am of Nigerian heritage so in that culture — the weddings, funerals — they have all these beautiful, beautifully extravagant fabrics. From there, I had an interest in it.”

Kate Hudson’s fashion challenge

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Hudson admitted that creating a budget-friendly and environmentally conscious fashion brand has been challenging.
The 40-year-old actress’ latest collection for her brand HappyXNature was created in collaboration with Repreve, a provider of material created from recycled plastic bottles and Kate admitted it hasn’t always been easy.
She told WWD: “At this point, there isn’t one thing that’s in design that doesn’t have an eco element to it. Everything is conscious and yet we’re selling a $78 dress. Or, something that would normally be a $450 dress, we’re selling at $250. A lot of it is 100 percent recycled.
“I have to be honest, it’s not easy. There are some things that are easy that if people aren’t doing, they’re just not being responsible. But at the end of the day, you run these big businesses and by changing the way you do things, your entire business could fall.”
And Kate is passionate about encouraging the fashion industry to be more sustainable.
She said: “For people who are trying to shift, we have to give them the space to change over the way they do things. It’s an industry that is never going to go away. Everybody loves fashion. People have to wear clothes — I mean, they don’t have to. You know, some places clothing is optional. The reality is, there’s high fashion that’s going to set the trend, but we need people who are making affordable clothing to change their practices. That’s really why I’m doing this. And I love clothes.”

Billy Porter knew iconic tuxedo dress would ‘change’ the world

OHMYGOSSIP — Billy Porter knew his iconic tuxedo dress would “change” the world.
The ‘Pose’ star wore the impressive suit turned gown for the 2019 Oscars, designed by Christian Siriano, and has revealed it was his own idea after he revealed his keenness to “play” with gender stereotypes and outfits.
He said: “It was during fashion week. We went to Christian Siriano’s fashion show a half hour after I got the call. I remembered why I love him. He’s always been the designer that understands that everybody on the planet wears clothes, whether you’re a size 0 or a size 400. We had already been coming up against a wall with many designers because I wanted to do this gender-bending, fluid thing. We just got flat-out no’s from a lot of people. ‘We don’t think you should be wearing that.’ That kind of silencing thing that happens. I’m older now so I knew what it looked like. I’ll do it anyway. I knew I needed to wear a ballgown and Christian is the only person who would look me in the face and say yes. He did it in nine days. It was my idea to do the top and the bottom, playing with genders. I didn’t know what the shot was going to be. I thought if it is shot from the waist up and it looks like a traditional tux, and then you pull out and see it’s a ballgown, the world will change.”
The 50-year-old actor is known for his bold looks and dressed like an Egyptian pharaoh for this year’s Met Gala.
Speaking to Fern Mallis at 92Y about the look, he added: “I didn’t have to do anything. My stylist did it. It was his idea to have that moment. That’s a a big deal. Miss Anna Wintour said, ‘Yes.’ My stylist had the idea and I was like, ‘Child, please, that ain’t gonna happen.’ Two weeks later, he was like, ‘Girl! You’re getting carried in, darling, by six shirtless men.’ We worked with The Blonds on that outfit. Their clothes make me feel like a rock star and I’m about to do that s**t, too. Grandpa’s coming back to the music industry, y’all get ready.”

Ellen Degeneres launches faux fur brand

OHMYGOSSIP — Ellen Degeneres has launched a new faux fur brand.
The ‘Ellen Degeneres Show’ host has co-founded a new company called UnHide, which is dedicated to finding alternatives to fur for the fashion industry and consumers, as she says she’s keen to get people to stop wearing real fur.
She told People magazine: “I want people to stop using and wearing fur, it’s that simple. The material we use in UnHide products are soft, warm and comfortable and I hope people find it as a great alternative.”
UnHide has partnered with The Humane Society of the United States to offer several different faux fur blankets in various colours, and the company plans to expand to fashion items in the future.
The company vows to “provide radical transparency” about its items throughout the process, and aims to help eliminate the sale of all fur by creating products that “not only make you feel good, but are here to do good”.
Ellen’s animal friendly brand comes as she announced in September this year she has adopted a rescue dog, whom she has named Mrs. Wallis Browning, Wallis for short.
The pooch was “kept in a cage” by her previous owners, and was adopted by Ellen and her wife Portia de Rossi from a rescue centre in California.
She explained: “I’m talking fast because I’m excited, because I want to tell you something exciting. We rescued a puppy. She’s so cute, I can’t even take it. She’s very adorable, pretty and precious. And she knows it.
“Wallis is three months old. And she unfortunately was with some irresponsible people. She was kept in a cage outside in the desert since she was two months old. We’re like new parents.”

Kesha: David Bowie is my style icon

OHMYGOSSIP — Kesha’s beauty icon is David Bowie.
The 32-year-old singer launched her own makeup brand, Kesha Rose Beauty, last week, and has said the colourful products in the line were inspired by some of her own style heroes, including the late musical icon David Bowie.
She said: “I mean, obviously David Bowie was a huge inspiration with the face painting and the androgyny and the colour and never letting anyone put him in a box or define him. He always was so playful with clothing and in makeup and that was one of the main inspirations for the makeup line is that I really wanted to incorporate so many colours because I feel like I promised myself on the last record [2017’s ‘Rainbow’] I’ll find a rainbow.
“And I’ve done the hard work; I’ve done a lot of therapy, I’ve done a lot of working on myself that I finally feel like I’m living in that rainbow I promised myself five years ago. So I want people to just have fun and feel good and have it not be dependent on any external ideas or philosophies or anything that satisfies anyone except for themselves.”
And the ‘Praying’ hitmaker was also “inspired by colour” when it came to creating her line, because she loves to experiment with vibrant eyeshadows.
She added: “I was really inspired by colour because – not to sound like a total hippie – but I feel kind of like my aura is usually the colour that I want to do my eyes with. So if I’m feeling really indecisive I’ll put one eye blue and one eye green, and I just have all these really fun colours that I haven’t seen in this kind of palette. I wanted to find the perfect chartreuse, which is my favourite colour.”
Kesha wants her beauty range to “accentuate” people’s beauty, and “enhance” what makes them “feel happy”.
Speaking to People magazine, she explained: “It’s just a really fun line of makeup and it’s made for people to feel beautiful but not in any sort of way that society puts on you or the expectations that make you feel insecure. It’s all about feeling secure and happy and exactly who you are, just enhancing what makes you feel happy.
“You’re already beautiful – this is meant to accentuate what you love about yourself. Just have fun and let how you feel on the inside shine on the outside and not feel like it’s about looking perfect or being ‘beautiful’ for anybody else but yourself.”

Winnie Harlow shares top beauty tip

OHMYGOSSIP — Winnie Harlow’s top beauty tip is to always “wash your face” before bed.
The 25-year-old model doesn’t always manage to follow her own beauty tips, but has said her number one piece of advice is to make sure people take off their make-up at the end of every day and wash their face before climbing into bed.
She said: “My biggest beauty secret is do as I say, not as I do … Wash your face before you go to bed every night.”
As the festive season approaches, Winnie plans to up her skincare routine and give her face a break from makeup, so that her complexion can be “healthy and glowy” by the time she heads back to work in the new year.
She added: “I’m hoping to not be wearing that much makeup over the holidays and just be with family and friends and come back to work refreshed with my skin all healthy and glowy.”
And when it comes to fashion, the beauty likes to keep things as comfortable as possible, as she would rather wear boots than heels, even on a night out.
Winnie explained to Us Weekly magazine: “My sense of style is one of two things. It’s either super glam or super relaxed. There’s no in between.
“I think Levi’s are classic and I feel like everyone has a pair in their closet. While a heel looks amazing, I’d rather go for a bootie, so it’s comfortable, but still sexy … I try to slip in comfort everywhere.”
Meanwhile, Winnie – who suffers from vitiligo, which is characterised by depigmentation of the skin – announced earlier this year that she hopes to release her own beauty line next year.
She said: “I have a lot of ideas I would like to bring to the forefront.
“When I do swatches, if I’m trying to figure out a shade for someone else, I do them between [my patches] so I have a really good take on what works for different skin tones because of this thing that I’ve been blessed with.
“So you may see something in the new year.”

Ashley Graham was first pregnant model to walk Tommy Hilfiger runway

OHMYGOSSIP — Ashley Graham is proud to have been the first pregnant model to walk in a Tommy Hilfiger runway show.
The 32-year-old model is expecting her first child with husband Justin Ervin and the baby is due in January yet Ashley strutted her stuff on the catwalk at the Tommy Hilfiger x Zendaya show held as part of New York Fashion Week back in September.
Ashley showed off her baby bump as she walked and afterwards she was delighted to be told by Tommy, 68, that her participation was a first for the label.
Speaking to US Vogue magazine, she said: “Tommy told me I was the first pregnant woman who’d ever walked his runway.”
The show saw a diverse range of models take to the catwalk at Harlem’s Apollo Theatre and the show had a block party theme.
Ashley loved being part of the fashion extravaganza even though she was nervous about falling down due to the shoes she had to wear with her extra maternity weight.
She said: “It was kind of like a block party in Harlem, all kinds of women, all genders, races, and everybody’s heels were so high. It was not a normal catwalk – it was concrete, still under construction, with potholes. And I was praying I wasn’t going to fall down. Which is an awful lot to ask of a model in her second trimester – I have wounds on my feet!”
Ashley was joined at the Tommy Hilfiger x Zendaya show by the likes of Halima Aden, Precious Lee, Winnie Harlow, Candice Swanepoel and Ebonee Davis.
And the brunette beauty received some valuable pregnancy advice during New York Fashion Week from a whole host of celebrities, including mother-of-three Kim Kardashian West.
She said: “Kim immediately started telling me, ‘Ashley, the pregnancy may be the hardest part, but the birth is the easiest.’ I’m just taking in advice from everyone and not putting too much pressure on myself.”

Laverne Cox loves wearing wigs to protect her natural hair

OHMYGOSSIP — Laverne Cox loves to wear wigs to stop damage to her natural hair.
The 47-year-old actress decided to go completely natural with her hair in 2011 after chemical relaxers destroyed her coily curls and now she uses colourful wigs and hair extensions to play with her style, whilst keeping her natural curls in tact.
Speaking to InStyle magazine, Laverne recalls the moment she became obsessed with experimenting different colours after debuting an ice blue wig at The Met Gala in May.
She said: “When Kiyah [Wright] brought out that ice blue hair, I was like, ‘Yes.’ Then we started playing with colour after that. We did some silver, we did some pink hair, and I want to do more colour.”
However, the ‘Orange is the New Black’ star knows the risks of developing traction alopecia – hair loss caused by frequent pulling or friction against the hair – that can develop as a result of frequently wearing wigs.
Luckily, Laverne has a whole system set in place to prevent any issues with her hair.
She explained: “I don’t wash my hair that much – I probably wash my hair every two weeks with the braids. And then depending on my schedule, ideally once a month, sometimes six weeks, I take my braids out. We wash, deep condition, sometimes do a hot oil treatment, and then we braid her back up.”
She also takes extra care around her delicate hairline, and has loose cornrows underneath her wigs rather than tight braids.
Laverne clarified: “You want to make sure that under your weave, your hair is braided down – and not too tight. “When we’re braiding, we braid around [the perimeter] of the hair to really be protecting my edges as much as possible. With wigs, the rubbing of the lace is real, so sometimes changing the position of your wigs helps, also.”
Although the self proclaimed “wiggy” is rarely seen without a flawless updo – she is open to the idea.
She added: “Maybe – it’s a good idea. My natural hair colour is really, really black. So when I have jet black hair, I love it off my face. I don’t think the colour softens me enough, I like lighter colours. And you know, I like the drama [of wigs], so we’ll see.”

Karlie Kloss teams up with Shantell Martin to design hoodie

OHMYGOSSIP — Karlie Kloss has teamed up with Shantell Martin to design a limited edition hoodie.
The 27-year-old fashion model – who founded coding camp ‘Kode with Klossy’ – and the British designer have joined forces to celebrate Computer Science Education Week this week and help raise money for Karlie’s coding initiative.
Shantell – who has a background in technology and coding – collaborated with the supermodel to create a hoodie imprinted with a white design featuring various coding symbols and the words “Kode More”.
Speaking to People, Karlie said: “Shantell is such an incredible artist – her work is both simple and complex, focused and multifaceted.
“She embodies the passion and creativity our ‘Kode with Klossy’ scholars bring to their work in our classrooms. We collaborated with Shantell on this design to reimagine the outdated coder hoodie and create something that reflects the next generation of leaders in tech.”
Shantell told WWD on Wednesday (11.12.19): “I remember the first time Karlie and I were talking years ago, we were talking about codes and all these things. Fast forward a few years, it just seems like a nice fit. I get to bring the art and creativity side into an area that I’m already invested in and that I have an interest in.”
The ‘Project Runway’ host first launched her nonprofit organisation back in 2015 to encourage young girls to develop their interest in computer science and software engineering.
The program also offers a free two-week camp every summer for girls aged between 13 to 18 years old.
The hoodies are available to buy on the website from £40 with 100 percent of the proceeds go towards funding the young girls to attend the camp for free.
Shantell also hopes the quirky design will help recognise how fashion is one way to spread messages and encourage growth.
She added: “It’s important to share messages of impact, growth and education in as many areas as we can — be it fashion, art, technology or commerce in some ways. That’s where we have the biggest reach and the biggest impact.”

Jonathan Van Ness says Kate Middleton is style inspiration

OHMYGOSSIP — Jonathan Van Ness says the Duchess of Cambridge is his style inspiration.
The fashion guru and podcaster admitted he wants to try to shop in a more sustainable way amid constant pressure to wear different and surprise his fans, and he revealed Kate Middleton made him realise he didn’t need to “hold up this unrealistic standard”.
He told Cosmopolitan UK: “I love that Princess Kate re-wears clothes. I went through this phase where I thought I always have to wear something I haven’t worn before.
“Then I realised that I was spending too much and that I didn’t want to have to keep up with this idea of always having to be in something different…
“I don’t need to hold up this unrealistic standard. So what if I wore something on ‘Queer Eye’? I spent good money on that sweater first of all, and second of all it’s cute and wasteful not to re-wear it. Now I re-wear stuff all the time!”
The 32-year-old star added he learned to check his “impulse buying”, and he knows it’s a standard he’s put on himself.
He said: “Other people re-wear stuff, and if I’m putting myself up to this expectation [that I’ll wear something different each time] it’s only me that’s doing it to myself.”
Meanwhile, Jonathan – who recently told the world that he is living with HIV – previously revealed he wanted to open up about his personal experience of bullying because he believes that talking about these issues can help children who are being bullied now.
He recently said: “A lot of times, when we’re able to share with someone who we do feel safe with, we can realise that these things that are happening to us don’t make us unlovable and aren’t something to have as a huge secret and aren’t anything that’s going to make our future dark and dreary. And actually, we have a really gorgeous bright future and we deserve love and safety.”

Naomi Ackie focused on fitness rather than image

OHMYGOSSIP — Naomi Ackie is focused more on what her body does than how it looks.
The ‘Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker’ actress has opened up about the training regime she underwent for the final instalment in the longrunning sci-fi saga, and she admitted she was “able to do pull-ups” as she gave less attention to aesthetics.
Speaking to ES Magazine, she said: “I’ve always been down on myself for being a little bit more curvy and a little bit stronger.
“But what I found with the practical [training] and gym stuff that they had me doing was that it really helped me focus on my body in terms of what it could do rather than what it looked like.
“By the end of it, I felt so capable. [laughs] Dude, I was able to do pull-ups with my own body!”
The 27-year-old actress – who plays Jannah in the upcoming space blockbuster – is the one of the first black women to star in the franchise, and she’s glad she’s been able to have her natural hairstyle for the movie.
She explained: “I’ve had messages from people thanking me for wearing my natural hair on ‘Star Wars’ because their little girls, who have been down on their natural hair, are feeling great after seeing me.”
And Ackie revealed how grateful she is for her success, and insisted it has come at the right time.
She added: “If I was 20 years old and had what I have now, I would not be able to handle it, and would have gone into my own shell. Everything happens in its own time. This is the opportunity to work and build a life for myself that I’ve always kind of seen in my head. So I’m just really looking to embrace it.”

Beyoncé saves customer dresses for daughter

OHMYGOSSIP — Beyoncé is saving her custom dresses for her daughter.
The ‘Crazy in Love’ hitmaker likes to make sure she keeps fashion sustainable and can’t wait to give her seven-year-old daughter Blue Ivy her hand me downs, whilst also giving her other clothes to charities that support women.
She said: “I think it’s important to have great basics that you can wear again and again. Versatility is a big part of the IVY PARK line and what inspires me. You can create your own style by experimenting and taking chances and continually reinventing your look with all of these pieces. I also donate my personal clothes to great charities that support women getting back on their feet. And I save my special pieces for my daughters! I give my daughter my custom dresses, so she gon’ be litty. Vintage pieces by the time she hit the city, yeah-ah!”
And the 38-year-old singer – who also has two-year-old Rumi and Sir with her husband Jay Z – is excited about partnering with adidas on her new IVY PARK collection and is excited to “break the so-called fashion rules” with gender-neutral clothing.
She added to the January 2020 issue of Elle magazine: “My mother instilled in me the idea that creativity starts with taking a leap of faith – telling your fears they are not allowed where you are headed. And I’m proud to do that with adidas. I am excited for you to see the campaign for the first collection of this new partnership. It incorporates my personal style and expands that to include something for everyone. I love experimenting with fashion, mixing high and low, sportswear with couture, even masculine and feminine. This new line is fun and lends itself to creativity, the ultimate power. I focused on designing a unisex collection of footwear and apparel because I saw so many men in IVY PARK. The way they have embraced the brand is an unexpected gift. I appreciate the beauty of gender-neutral clothing and breaking the so-called fashion rules. I took a chance on myself when I bought my company back. We all have the confidence in us to take chances and bet on ourselves.”

Nina Dobrev’s secret sauce of moisturisers

OHMYGOSSIP — Nina Dobrev has a “secret sauce” of moisturisers.
The ‘Vampire Diaries’ star has revealed she makes her own “cocktail” of creams because she wants the perfect skincare for her face.
She said: “I also make a cocktail of my creams. This is my secret sauce.”
Nina also shared her make up tips, revealing an easy way to get rid of dark circles, having done a lot of night shooting on set in the past.
She added: “I cannot express how important it is to not just put foundation on your face. I’m really obsessed with doing a messy brow. I was on a vampire show for a very, very long time, so we shot at night and I didn’t sleep very much. One thing that I learned recently is that dark circles appear because you’re dehydrated, so it’s important to drink a lot of water.”
Nina likes to keep a lot of her make up items with her as she moves around a lot but there’s one thing she’ll never be caught out without – a red lipstick.
Doing her day to night beauty routine for Vogue.com, she shared: “I do move around a lot, so I keep much of this stuff in my car.
“If we decide to go out dancing and I really want to spice it up and make it extra sprucy, a red lipstick is my go-to. Red lips go with everything.”
Meanwhile, Nina previously insisted she has no shame in walking around in public wearing “zit cream” to help reduce the size of her pimples.
She said: “I don’t wear make-up on a daily basis. I try to reflect that on my social media, too. When I do Instagram stories, I’m not all dolled up and glamorous, it’s a peek into my day-to-day life, which is kind of normal and average. I get pimples and zits all the time and I deal with them just like anybody else, with zit cream. Sometimes I walk out of the house with the zit cream and forget about it.”

Cardi B’s kids’ clothing collection

OHMYGOSSIP — Cardi B wants her daughter to be “CEO” of a new kids’ clothing collection.
The ‘Bodak Yellow’ hitmaker and her husband Offset are keen to work on a clothing range for young people and want their 17-month-old daughter Kulture Kiari to take the reigns.
Speaking about the idea, she told Vogue magazine: “And the CEO is over there. Right, Kulture? I’m busting my a** right now so you could have a good car when you’re 18, so you can go to school and have an apartment that I could pay for.
“If my daughter wants to go to college, that’s okay, but I just want her to be an owner of whatever the f**k she wants to own. Just be an owner. Be the boss.”
Meanwhile, Cardi previously revealed her and Offset row about who “dresses better”.
She said: “His style is real hypebeast. It’s good hypebeast, but sometimes we disagree on certain things. We be going at each other because sometimes it’s like, who dressed better? It’s been getting a little intense but when an outfit is really good we give each other so many compliments. We’re each other’s biggest fans. And when it comes to the red carpet, there have been certain times that we don’t know, [don’t] communicate with each other, so when we’re together on the red carpet the outfits don’t look good. We started speaking more about it, like, ‘Hey, if I’m going to wear an extravagant outfit you should be really cut clean.’ If he’s going real extra, I’ll go real clean.”
And the 27-year-old rapper says it has become “a new hobby” dressing her daughter Kulture Kiari, 15 months, and described it as “dressing a doll”.
She added: “It’s been my new hobby lately. When I shop, I usually put the outfits on my bed and spread them out and say this would look good with this type of coat, and now I’m not even doing it as much. I’m just doing it with her stuff, and I’m just waiting for these fur coats to come in. I’m going to be styling, but yeah it’s so fun. It’s like dressing a doll all over again.”

Idris Elba gives wife Sabrina confidence to wear bold lipstick

OHMYGOSSIP — Idris Elba gives his wife Sabrina confidence to wear bold lipstick.
The model credits her husband for making her feel more confident in herself and her fashion and beauty choices.
She said: “Idris is also super open and loves to give me compliments on how I look. He’s been great through this whole experience and he definitely wants me to feel comfortable and stand tall. Right before we go onto the red carpet, he’ll hold my hand and be very supportive. He always says how much he loves my lips too, and I think that’s probably why I increasingly love a red lip. When he says, ‘that looks so nice’, it makes me smile.”
And the 29-year-old star admits she has been struggling to adjust with how much her life has changed since she married Idris.
She added to Harper’s Bazaar magazine: “My life has changed in the past few years in ways I could never have imagined. It’s almost like I had to rediscover who I am and what I want to do. I feel like I’ve been reborn into a different person. Sometimes it can be horrible to have your face all over social media, but, in other ways, it has helped me grow out of my shell.
“I even have pictures of the back of my head! It’s almost like if you could read a book about the way you looked and all of a sudden you see all these pages. It’s actually made me get way more comfortable with myself.”
