Pat McGrath vows to make more time for ‘self-care’ in 2020

OHMYGOSSIP — Pat McGrath plans to “take more time for self-care” in 2020.
The make-up mogul has set herself the New Year’s resolution to make sure she treats herself to as many relaxing spa days and “advanced treatments” as she needs throughout the next 12 months to make herself “feel good”.
She told British Vogue: “As for me, my 2020 beauty resolution is to take more time for self-care. Whether it’s paper face masks, massages, oil-infused baths, at-home facials; more advanced treatments, such as lymphatic drainage, LED light therapy or an Oxylight facial; or checking into the spa for some R&R … the sky’s the limit. Anything that requires me to take a few hours for myself is good.”
The 53-year-old make-up artist also suggested everyone should make their skin their priority in 2020, and keep skin-matching their foundation “every six months”.
She said: “Make a resolution to look after your skin. Go for a facial and reassess your skincare regime. Also, check the colour of your foundation against your skin every six months to make sure they still match – once you’ve established your winter and summer shades, it’s easy to mix them together for the in-between times.”
Pat has had a busy year, the latter end of which saw her launch a limited edition ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ make-up collection.
Pat commented: “We are so excited to work with Disney on this brilliant collaboration celebrating the intergalactic beauty of ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’. The ‘Star Wars’ characters have become integrated into our culture in such a MAJOR way that it’s hard to imagine a world without them! Anyone who follows me on Social Media knows I am obsessed with Star Wars. From the rebellious beauty of Princess Leia to the gilded glamour of C-3PO.”
The Queen of Beauty launched her collection on December 13, with an array of galactic eye shadow palettes and glittery lip balms, each delicately designed to catch the essence of the world’s beloved characters from across the sci-fi franchise.
She added: “The palettes are inspired by the Star Wars characters, multiverse and landscapes and they are bound to render you starstruck! I cannot wait for you to try them. I am beyond thrilled that Disney has partnered with Pat McGrath Labs to bring this gloriously glamorous collection to life.”
The launch of her new collection also marked the highly-anticipated return of her sold-out Mothership IV: Decadence Eye Palette.
Pat continued: “I’m thrilled to combine the Limited-Edition release of this collection with the highly awaited return of the sold out sensation that was the Mothership IV: Decadence Eye Palette. Fans have been asking me daily for its return. I’m thrilled that it’s back in cult collectable gold packaging – the ultimate guilty pleasure. I suggest all my fellow beauty-loving Star Wars fans snatch theirs quick before they are forever gone to a galaxy far far away.”

Margaret Qualley’s lessons in cool

OHMYGOSSIP — Margaret Qualley had to be taught how to be “cool” by Karl Lagerfeld.
The 25-year-old model-and-actress – who is the daughter of actress Andie MacDowell and musician Paul Qualley – was booked to walk in the late fashion legend’s Chanel show in Paris when she was just 16 but had no idea how to move or stand.
She recalled: “It was my first time to Paris alone and my first go-see was at Chanel – where I got booked.
“I’d never really walked before so I didn’t know what to do.
“[Karl] taught me how to slump my shoulders to look cooler and put my hands in my pockets in a very specific way.
“I’m not cool, so I had to be instructed.”
The ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ actress recently attended the Chanel Metiers d’Art show and was overcome by the outfits and the set, which Virginie Viard enlisted director Sofia Coppola to help design.
She said: “It’s particularly impressive because I had a tour of Coco Chanel’s real apartment and they’ve done an amazing job recreating it.
“What I loved about her apartment though is that there wasn’t a bed in it, she just used to sleep at The Ritz.”
Meanwhile, Margaret admitted working on her breakthrough movie, ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’, was “nuts” and she felt intimidated but was put at her ease by director Quentin Tarantino and star Brad Pitt.
She told Grazia magazine: “I was intimidated to be even just visiting a Tarantino set, because arguably he’s the best filmmaker alive.
“Being able to call [Brad] Brad is kind of crazy but they were both really kind.”

Carrie Underwood loves to ‘encourage and inspire’ through CALIA

OHMYGOSSIP — Carrie Underwood loves being able to “encourage” and “inspire” women on their fitness “journeys” through her athleisure line.
The 36-year-old country musician setup CALIA in 2015, and she says it’s been amazing to hear how much the clothes and accessories have helped her fans with their exercise goals, whilst she insisted how “important” it its to support people “no matter where they are in those journeys”.
She said: “We’re not all size zeros.
“We’re different shapes, sizes, ages.
“It’s important to encourage people and be a part of people’s journeys, no matter where they are in those journeys.”
The ‘Love Wins’ singer added to People.com: “I’ve had several occasions where women would come through meet and greet lines and say, ‘You inspired me.’
“They’d be wearing CALIA head to toe, and they’d be like, ‘You inspired me and I got into the gym. I started walking. I started changing my diet, and I feel so much better.
“I lost this much weight.
“It’s fun being creative and it’s fun making clothes that I love to wear.
“But then you see how people are using them in lives, and taking ownership over their health and feeling better about themselves.”
Carrie previously revealed she’s had women praise her variety of styles, which she based off her own wardrobe preferences.
She said: “I’ve had women come up to me and be like, ‘Thank you! I can take my teenage daughter and we can get things that are cute but also appropriate for her and for me’.
“And I think of myself running after my crazy kids and being at hotel pools, wanting to be cute but also not wanting to worry about things. Everything stays where it’s supposed to!”
Meanwhile, Carrie – who has four-year-old Isaiah, and 11-month-old Jacob with husband Mike Fisher – spoke out about her frustration at trying to get back in shape after baby number two.
She admitted: “I get frustrated because I have high expectations for myself. And after having my second child, going into the gym when I got the clear from my doctor, doing a push-up was way harder than it was not too long ago.
“A lot of people will go workout in order to feel great, but if you feel great in the first place, you’re one step ahead. It really depends on the day, you just gotta listen to your body.”

Tallulah Willis aims to spread kindness with vintage line Wyllis

OHMYGOSSIP — Tallulah Willis’ upcoming vintage line Wyllis is all about “inclusivity and kindness”.
The 25-year-old actress – the youngest daughter of ‘Ghost’ actress Demi Moore and ‘Die Hard’ star Bruce Willis – is set to launch the fashion range with her friend Rachael Finley next year, and she says the aim was to “mirror” the way she lives her own life.
She explained: “I live my life really with the intention of compassion and inclusivity and kindness. And I thought, how can I create something that mirrors that?
“So, from the beginning, there was a huge emphasis on size inclusion and a really affordable price point.”
A special touch for the items is a tag that reads, ‘You Are Never Alone’, with the telephone number for the National Suicide Prevention hotline and the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
On January 15, a string of sweatshirts will be released with the words ‘Yeah, I’m Fine’, and ‘Nothing Like Feeling Super Vulnerable’ emblazoned across them, with more pieces set to follow.
Tallulah – who has detailed her own battle with mental illness and been open about having suicidal thoughts in the past – also admitted that she has “struggled immensely with self-image issues”, but whenever she is posing for the cameras, she comes out of her shell.
She told Refinery 29: “Whenever I get in front of the camera, I tend to go wiggly.
“I go back into, like, six-year-old me in my mom’s high heels, and I’m just like, okay, here we go. Let’s get weird.
“Let’s bend our body.
“It’s funny because I’m someone who has struggled immensely with self-image issues and the way that I look and not being confident.
“And yet, in photo shoots, it’s like this other side comes out, and I’m able to kind of put that in the corner.”

Kacey Musgraves is ‘particular’ about her style

OHMYGOSSIP — Kacey Musgraves is “so particular” about her style and make-up.
Celebrity make-up artist Moani Lee – whose clients also include Kacey’s country peers Miranda Lambert, Kelsea Ballerini and Maren Morris – has revealed the ‘Space Cowboy’ singer wants to give her fans the “full 360 experience” when it comes to her music and her “visual” image.
Moani told the London Evening Standard: “Kacey is so particular, in the best way possible, about the full 360 experience of her artistry.
“It’s definitely rooted in her songwriting and her music, but it translates into the visual aspects of her show choices down to the clothing, makeup, and hair.”
The beauty specialist also revealed that Kacey is “one of few” of her list of A-list clients who loves to rock glitter on her eyelids, which is fun to experiment with for the stage.
She said: “I have to say that Kacey was probably one of the few clients of mine that was into glitter. I don’t know where it started for her, but it’s been fun to play with a range of textures and shine.
“I think the stage is a wonderful platform to toy with some extremes because when you’re in an arena with 20,000 people or more, the dimension of what you see on stage can be made more dramatic – you have a little bit more room to push the elements.”

Anya Hindmarch wants burial bag

OHMYGOSSIP — Anya Hindmarch wants to be buried with one of her signature bags when she dies.
The 51-year-old accessories designer thinks it would be the perfect “calling card” to take to heaven with her as it would remind her of her whole identity.
She said: “I’d like to be buried with one of my teeny velvet evening clutch bags. It’d have my initials on it in rainbow crystals.
“I think it could be quite nice as my calling card for heaven – if I get into heaven – just to remind me of who I am.”
Anya vividly remembers being given her first designer handbag and how “cool and confident” it made her feel.
She told Britain’s ELLE magazine: “When I was 16 my mum gave me her old Gucci handbag.
“I still remember how that made me feel. Like a grown-up, cool and confident.
“It was kind of ridiculous that a piece of leather, a vessel for carrying things, could make me feel so different but that’s what fashion does; it alters your mood.”
Anya understands the power of clothes but never wants them to overshadow her.
She said: “The first item I bought was a pair of bright red boots. They had jagged lightning bolts on the edge and a very 1980s triangular heel. I wore them every day for months.
“They made me realise clothes are about what they do for you.
“You can put on a great pair of shoes and they make you walk taller. Or if I’m going to a board meeting, I can put on a certain combination of clothes that make me feel like the best version of myself.
“I hate the idea of my clothes wearing me, I don’t want to be noticed for my clothes, I want to be noticed for me.
“If my clothes are intrinsically louder than who I am, it doesn’t feel authentic.
“I don’t like noticing what I’m wearing. I want to get dressed and forget about it.”

Kim Kardashian West gifted custom made Balmain Christmas jumpers

OHMYGOSSIP — Kim Kardashian West was gifted a custom made Balmain Christmas jumper.
The ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ star took to Instagram on Christmas Day (25.12.19) to show off her family’s custom crystal sweaters designed by her close friend, Olivier Rousteing.
Taking to Instagram, she shared: “Look at these crystal Balmain Christmas sweaters that Olivier made the whole family … They are so cute and blingy! … Thank you @Olivier_Rousteing @Balmain for our Christmas sweaters!!! (sic)”
Kim’s Balmain outfits mean a lot to her as Olivier previously revealed her daughter North was conceived when she wore her signature blue dress.
Olivier said: “You know what is the most amazing thing about this dress that – I don’t know if I can say it but I’m going to say it. I’m sorry Kim … It was worn the night when North was conceived. I don’t know if I can say, maybe it’s a secret, but I know that Kanye told me. So, I just wanted to share with you guys.”
And the fashion designer described his first meeting with Kim as “surprising, electric and lovely”.
He added: “My first meeting with Kim in three words – I would say surprising, I would say electric, and I would say love … The first design that I sketch and I create for Kim was her dress for her Bachelorette party. This is a memory I will never never forget. She wanted something really unique and really special for a day that was special. So, I kind of create that Marie Antoinette costume and it was really really beautiful. I think she looked so great in that dress and I was really really happy with that because I love Kanye and I love Kim and altogether being part of that moment – fashion moment – I think it was really important to me. She’s a unique woman and that dress was unique as well so it was really special to me.”

Zara Tindall’s casual style

OHMYGOSSIP — Zara Tindall’s style is “very, very casual”.
The 38-year-old royal – who is the daughter of Princess Anne and Mark Phillips – likes to be practical with her fashion choices.
She said: “My style is very, very casual. Especially if I’m just at home with the children in the country. It’s jeans, flat boots or trainers and then a gilet or a coat over the top. Through the years, whenever going to an occasion, the main lesson that my mother taught us was just to make sure that you look presentable, clean and tidy. That was always handed down to us.”
And the Olympian has confessed she’s not much of a shopper, instead preferring to shop online if “needs must”.
She added: “It depends on the occasion and what’s needed. But I don’t really enjoy shopping. I’m more of an online shopper. It’s a case of when needs must, for me.”
Zara now has her own walk in wardrobe, something which she has wanted for a long while.
She shared: “I have one finally. Everyone wants a walk in wardrobe, don’t they? It was always a big thing getting older and realising that dream of having a walk in wardrobe. That thing where you can find everything you need on hand immediately is amazing. When we moved into our current house that was a must for us.”
And Zara admits it is more tough organising her kids’ wardrobes.
She told The Telegraph: “Organising children’s closets is a nightmare because they grow out of things so quickly. I find myself trying to move those clothes on as quickly as you’ve just put them in the drawers. It’s a little bit depressing when you realise how quickly they’re growing. Sifting through clothes and the laundry loads takes up a lot more of my time than it used to; two children and I do three different [equestrian] disciplines so that’s three sets of clothes. There’s a lot going on in the washing room at my house.”

Claudia Winkleman’s beauty secret

OHMYGOSSIP — Claudia Winkleman’s biggest beauty secret is napping “every day”.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ presenter has credited getting a good amount of sleep for keeping her looking youthful.
She said: “I sleep a lot. I have a nap every day. After the school run if I can, I will always get back into bed for a sleep, my family and I call it my morning meeting. About an hour, definitely 45 minutes – I had two yesterday!”
And the 47-year-old television presenter admits she has never taken her make up off in all her years.
She added: “I don’t want to denounce any myths but I’ve never taken my makeup off before going to bed and I’m 47. Never done it. And I have much better dreams with shedloads of eye makeup on.”
Claudia – who has Jake, 16, Matilda, 13, and Arthur, eight – is a huge fan of eyeliner and loves to lather it on, quipping she only believes in “ramshackle” when it comes to applying her favourite beauty product.
She told Prima magazine: “It’s delicious. I put it everywhere – inside, in the corner and then I might rub a bit on my finger and dab it along. It’s quite haphazard … I’m never going to do a polite mid-brown flick. I either wear loads or absolutely nothing. I think you’re setting yourself up for a hassle if you want a perfect line … I only believe in ramshackle.”

Ashley Graham: Modelling has given me a platform

OHMYGOSSIP — Ashley Graham thinks modelling has given her a “platform”.
The 32-year-old beauty is one of the world’s most recognisable models, and she’s keen to use her profile in order to deliver a message of positivity to other women around the world.
Ashley – who has recently launched her own podcast, called ‘Pretty Big Deal’ – told Time magazine: “I think modelling gave me a platform in general and I think now more than ever, models have the opportunity to talk about things that are important to them, social issues.
“We have a platform now where we should be using it to change people’s lives, to give information to people in whatever capacity that is for you.
“With this podcast, I have full control. I own the narrative, and I think that there’s something incredibly liberating about that. When it comes to fashion, I’m literally giving up my body and face to a company or to a magazine, who could edit me and in ‘Pretty Big Deal’, I’m unedited.”
Ashley – who featured on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 2016 – also claimed that “truth and honesty” are central to her podcast.
She said: “I put myself on the line, I talk about felling insecure about my body and my ups and downs with food and men, family, it runs the gamut – and I think that people know when they’re coming down and sitting on my couch, it’s about truth and honesty.”

The 24-year-old beauty – who is the best-paid model in the world – has revealed some of her biggest turn-ons, admitting that confidence nears the top of her wishlist.
Speaking in a promo video for Calvin Klein, Kendall shared: “My biggest turn on is probably someone who is confident and I really like a witty person. Someone who can make me laugh.
“The sillier you are, the more yourself you are, the more unfiltered you are, I think the better.”
Kendall also revealed what she likes to do when she’s away from the spotlight.
The brunette beauty said: “Probably just chill out, watch Disney+ or Apple TV or Netflix or something. And literally just eat food and do nothing.”
Meanwhile, Kendall previously admitted she’s made a conscious effort to be “super selective” about her modelling work.
The world-famous star explained that her other responsibilities – including appearing on ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ – mean she isn’t able to commit to a huge number of catwalk shows each year.
She said: “Since the beginning we’ve been super selective about what shows I would do.
“I was never one of those girls who would do, like, 30 shows a season or whatever the f**k those girls do. More power to ’em. But I had a million jobs, not only catwalks but everything else.
“The whole combination was very overwhelming, and I started to freak out a little bit and needed to take a step back.”

They wrote on Instagram: “Even if he left his house in 2004, he continued to inspire the label as well as the international fashion world.

Italian designer Valentino Garavani also paid tribute to his contemporary, and hailed him as a “generous friend”.
He said: “[Ungaro was] a great and generous friend. Always with a smile and with a kindness very rare in this fashion world.

Louis Vuitton’s Virgil Abloh didn’t find fashion industry ‘welcoming’

OHMYGOSSIP — Virgil Abloh says the fashion industry “wasn’t particularly welcoming” a decade ago.
The chief executive of Louis Vuitton’s menswear launched his career as an intern at Fendi in 2009, and he has opened up on his early days in the business as he reflected on meeting Kanye West at as show in Paris 10 years ago.
He told Dazed: “”It wasn’t particularly welcoming but the irony was that there was no security at the door of that Comme des Garçons show we wanted to get into.
“It was almost like, ‘Why would you come to a fashion show?’ It would be like walking into some random hotel conference for doorknobs and sitting down.”
A decade later, everything has changed for Abloh, and he insisted he doesn’t mind seeing other brands trying to put their own spin on his street fashion style.
He added: “I always try to look at the positive side and so when I do see brands adopting a new mode of design that’s not traditional and is actually inauthentic, to me it’s validation that we ultimately changed the atmosphere of design.
“What I like to think is that the doors are now open to young people to work in these places, to help them do it in an authentic way.”
Indeed, the 39-year-old designer is now looking to the next 10 years and seeing how he and his team can build on what they’ve already achieved.
Asked what excites him as we approach the end of the decade, he said: “I’m excited by the next one. I’m excited to see what we do in this next chapter because the strides we made in the last ten years are too insane.”

Speaking to New York magazine’s The Strategist: “I feel like Jack Nicholson and Johnny Depp always wore them, and they just have that cool, classic rock-and-roll vibe.
“Sunglasses are the thing I like to splurge on most, and I have so many, but I always go back to the Ray-Bans. I have the Clubmaster, the Aviator, the Wayfarer – I rotate between them.”

She said: “The clothes feel activated. You’re meant to do something in them, not just sit and look pretty.”
Earlier this year, Kristen opened up on her experiences of working with the late Karl Lagerfeld insisting he wasn’t “intimidating” and was “shockingly unpretentious”.
The star praised the Chanel creative director – who passed away on February 19 at the age of 85 – and revealed he was “incredibly inviting” and “true to himself” despite his “scary” persona.
She said: “It’s funny how he presents – so austere and so scary. He wasn’t though. He was incredibly inviting – insanely, shockingly unpretentious. He liked what he liked because he liked it. He was a fancy motherf***er, but it was true to him. It’s almost like he sensed he was intimidating, so he was like, ‘No. To have a creative heart is daunting, but let’s get it beating faster and harder.’ ”
The ‘Charlie’s Angels’ star was always “encouraged” to be herself by Lagerfeld and his words of advice helped “shape” her own style.
She added: “He was always touching you while speaking to you. There’s just a feeling that he gave me, an encouraging attaboy thing that shapes you in really profound ways.”

Versace planning resort 2021 show in USA

OHMYGOSSIP — Versace’s resort 2021 collection will debut in the United States.
Donatella Versace is bringing her brand back to the US on May 16, nearly two years after Versace held its first runway event in the country.
According to WWD, the exact location of the resort 2021 runway show has not yet been revealed but it will include both women’s and men’s clothing.
Meanwhile, Donatella, 64, previously admitted she initially doubted herself after taking over the Versace brand when her brother, Gianni Versace, was murdered in 1997.
She said: “When my brother was murdered, I had the eyes of the whole world on me and 99% of them thought I wasn’t going to make it. And maybe I thought the same, at first. My brother was the king, and my whole world had crashed around me. For the first five years, I was lost. I made a lot of mistakes.”
However, Donatella soon learned to listen to her own instincts as Gianni had often relied on her advice.
She explained: “I had been listening to everyone else, and then I thought, who was the person my brother listened to? Me. I worked with him every day. I was much more than a muse. It was a dialogue between us. We discussed everything.
“Male designers, they love to sketch. I don’t care about the sketch, I care about the fit. I drape the fabric, I try everything on, I work so that when you put on Versace, you feel better. You should feel impenetrable. And that needs to happen for a size 38 and for a size 46.”
