Halsey: Cleansing is important

OHMYGOSSIP — Halsey says it’s “important” to “cleanse”.
The 25-year-old singer always makes sure to wash her face with cleanser and a hyaluronic acid serum, because she thinks having “glowy skin” is a must, especially when she’s on the road.
She said: “The most important part for me when I’m on the road is to cleanse. I’m really really really into glowy skin.”
Halsey’s quest for glowing skin stretches to her make-up routine too, as she uses a whopping six different highlighters to make her cheekbones and nose shine.
She added: “I use like six highlighters in my beauty routine. One of the greatest compliments I’ve ever gotten in my life is someone told me that they were seeing my show in an arena and they were at the section all the way at the top and they could still see my highlight.”
The ‘Nightmare’ hitmaker also loves to apply false lashes, and says she’s done it so many times she could now put them on “in the dark”.
Halsey said: “I have hundreds of [lashes] in my house. I have done this so many times in my life, I feel like I could put on lashes in the backseat of a car, without a mirror, in the dark, with one hand tied behind my back, during a zombie apocalypse.”
The star’s affinity for make-up and style comes as she originally wanted to go to art school before finding a career as a musician, and says “painting and make-up” are closely linked.
Speaking to Vogue for a video in which she recreated her look from the cover of her new album ‘Manic’, she said: “Before I was a musician, I was really set on going to art school. A lot of people don’t understand how alike painting and makeup are.”

Viola Davis: Beauty is not defined by youth

OHMYGOSSIP — Viola Davis says beauty “is not defined by youth”.
The 54-year-old actress is the new face of L’Oréal Paris Age Perfect – which is specifically designed for women over 50 – and has said she was thrilled to get the chance to work with the major beauty label, because she feels as though someone “finally sees” her beauty.
Asked what it felt like to be approached by the brand, she said: “It’s like someone finally sees me. Many women get to a certain point in their lives and no one looks at them or values them anymore – as if they are invisible, you know? The fact is that beauty is not something that can just be defined by youth.”
The ‘Widows’ star is “completely into” make-up now that she’s reached her 50s, and said that whilst she never bothered with products when she was younger, she now feels as though she’s “released [her] inner woman”.
She added: “I’m completely into everything from under-eye moisturiser to all shades of lipstick, which is surprising because I never used any products in my twenties. Now I have about 30 bottles of perfume alone; each one is for a different occasion. I feel more girlish and buoyant in my fifties than I ever have before. I’ve released my inner woman!”
Over the past few years, Viola has become known for embracing her natural hair after having previously covered it up with wigs, and has now said her decision to make the switch came as she was tired of “not feeling pretty enough”.
Speaking to InStyle magazine, she said: “I’m at a period where I want to step into who I am. I’ve spent too long not feeling pretty or feminine enough – not feeling enough. And part of that was about my hair!
“Like any fear in life, I had to deal with it. So when I was nominated for ‘The Help’ in 2012, I walked down the Oscars red carpet, one of the most public events known to mankind, with my natural hair.
“It’s been great, though I do have my moments. I always say that when Black women who have gone natural get together, it’s like being in an AA group. The conversations are like, ‘How long have you been natural?’ ‘Oh, two months today. I have good days and bad days. But mostly good days. Sometimes I put a wig on; sometimes I take it off.’ ”

Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Golden Globes outfit sold for £21k

OHMYGOSSIP — Phoebe Waller-Bridge has sold her Golden Globes outfit for £21,200.
The 34-year-old actress auctioned off her Ralph & Russo designer tuxedo she wore to the awards ceremony earlier this month to help raise money for the victims of the Australian bushfires.
After the ceremony, she signed the custom-made two-piece – which featured geometric black and gold ribbon applique, Chantilly lace and a silk lapel – and listed it on eBay.
In a statement announcing she was auctioning the item, Phoebe said: “I’m very excited that this stunning, one of a kind, couture tuxedo created by Australian geniuses Ralph & Russo will continue its journey by contributing to this urgent cause.
“If money raised by its auction can help raise funds to fight the disaster in Australia, the future impact of this suit will be far greater than the luck it brought me and the ‘Fleabag’ team at the Golden Globes.”
On Sunday (19.01.20), the auction closed with just one bid of £21,200.
The ‘Fleabag’ creator decided to split the proceeds between three charities: the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief & Recovery Fund, which will help Red Cross emergency teams, WIRES Wildlife Rescue Emergency Fund and Wildlife Victoria, which are both on the ground assisting in the rehabilitation and recovery of thousands of Australian wildlife.
Meanwhile, the suit’s designers Ralph and Russo said they were “delighted” by the star’s decision to sell the outfit.
They said: “Being both from Australia originally and with much of our family still residents across the region, it is with a heavy heart that we watch and hear the news of the terrible fires currently engulfing such large areas of our homeland.
“With Australia remaining so close to our hearts, we are delighted to stand next to Phoebe to support relief efforts with this special auction.”

Emilia Clarke is ‘hellbent’ on not having anything done to her face

OHMYGOSSIP — Emilia Clarke is “hellbent” on not having any cosmetic surgery.
The 32-year-old actress refuses to have any work done to her face and, instead, plans to stick by her mother’s expert beauty advice of moisturising morning and night.
Emilia told The Memo: “I’m pretty hellbent on not getting anything done to my face. But I kind of want to do all I can in taking care of my skin. It’s a form of self-care as well- I’m choosing to put the energy into making sure I’m looking good.”
Since a young age, the ‘Last Christmas’ star has always been cautious of her skin.
She explained: “You really need to care for your skin. Like I said, my mum worked in skincare; so from like the age of 10 I cleansed, toned and moisturised twice a day, every day. I could have a big night out and I will still wake up the next morning with clean skin.”
And it’s her clear glowing skin that has nabbed her a spot as the first-ever global ambassador for Clinque.
Determined to swear off any surgery, Emilia is opting for the brand’s BB-Gel to help keep her skin looking young and fresh.
She said: “The BB thing is like my secret weapon; as soon as I tried it out, I was like oh, this is my vibe–this is so my vibe. As I said, I’m lazy–so I wake up in the morning, and I put on the BB-Gel as if it were moisturiser, and then just forget about it. And I swear from like the first time I used it my skin was GLOWING!
“It doesn’t look like I have foundation on, but my skin looks so clear. It’s the one thing that I use every single day and people are like ‘have you been on holiday? Are you alright? Have you been sleeping well? You’re looking good!’
“And so obviously I then told all my mates about it because it’s a genuinely brilliant product.”

Lauren Hutton ‘freaked out’ about ageing at 42

OHMYGOSSIP — Lauren Hutton “freaked out” about ageing when she hit her forties.
The 76-year-old model worried about getting older, especially because her metabolism changed and she gained weight, and it took a few years for her panic to subside.
Speaking to The Cut, Lauren said: “I completely freaked out around 42 to 43. I put on about ten pounds — which I know isn’t a lot, but on-camera, it looks like 25 pounds. That was upsetting. But you talk yourself out of social ideas.
“We have a pretty mad society in many ways. It took me almost till my 50s to snap out of it. Now it’s not nearly so bad.”
These days, Lauren has a more pragmatic approach to getting older and insisted ageing is “the point of life”.
Asked what the word ‘ageing’ makes her think of, she said: “I think that’s the point of life, if you’re lucky. Hopefully, it’s growing up. You get to be wise. That’s the point. You read; you talk to the smartest people in the world and listen to them.”
The ‘I Feel Pretty’ star had a tough time as she approached her forties as she was fired from her million dollar contract with Revlon for being too old but she wasn’t bitter about the decision because she thinks it backfired on the cosmetics firm.
She explained: “I don’t feel any resentment from when they fired me at 41; it hurt them much more than it hurt me.
“When they called me in to say it was good-bye, they told me they had done “focus groups” and discovered that “women over 40 didn’t use make-up!” Well, I was over 40, and all the women I knew all used make-up.”
Despite her advancing years, Lauren hopes she still has several decades left in her career.
She revealed: “I hope to do modeling till I am 100. There is a chance. My mom just turned 96.”
Being an older model in the industry has allowed Lauren to witness the social change and meet a new dynamic of models.
She added: “I feel a bit like a fantastic granny to all the gap-toothed models today. There’s this British one, Adwoa Aboah, who founded Gurls Talk. She’s deeply beautiful. She’s the most wonderful, shocking beauty to come around in a long time.”

Kim Kardashian West mocks Kylie Jenner’s make-up

OHMYGOSSIP — Kim Kardashian West jokingly branded Kylie Jenner’s make-up range “cheap s**t” after an online tutorial went wrong.
The KKW Beauty founder had agreed to let the lip kit guru give her a makeover but proceedings were called to a halt when the 22-year-old star struggled to get to grips with her own product.
Kylie – who pointed out she isn’t a professional make-up artist – began by saying: “I love a bright inner corner, so I like to spray …This is a new ones.”
However, the product failed to spritz properly, and as Kylie clicked the nozzle with frustration, she exclaimed: “Why the f**k is this not working?”
Kim wasn’t impressed at having to wait and jokingly claimed the spray was “cheap s**t”.
Her younger half-sibling continued trying to get the bottle to work and again exclaimed: “What the f**k.”
She eventually got the spray going but the tutorial then hit another snag when Kylie was applying Kim’s eye make-up and accidentally removed one of the 39-year-old star’s false eyelashes.
The pair joked they should wish on it but Kylie gave the unusual souvenir to one of her assistants.
But Kim joked she had plans for her “wish” after Kylie recently beat her number of social media followers.
She quipped: “I just wished I would beat you in Instagram again. Now my wish won’t come true.”
Meanwhile, the pair’s mother, Kris Jenner, recently admitted she is “bursting with pride” over her daughters’ success in the beauty industry.
She said: “As a little idea from Kylie and me and Jen and Matthew was there too, a few people with a really big idea… we couldn’t do it without you.
“When we started out, and KKW Beauty was just a dream for a minute, and then we became one big family, it makes me so proud. I am bursting with pride for my daughters.”
