Olivia Colman’s nervous hairdresser

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Colman’s hairdresser was terrified of giving her a dramatic new look hours before the Oscars.
The ‘Crown’ star showed off a blonde crop as she walked the red carpet at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre on Sunday (09.02.20), and though the style transformation had been planned for months, they only went for it earlier in the day.
Marcus Francis explained he and Olivia had discussed her colour change “back in November” and the actress was “100 percent [into it] from the beginning”.
Marcus and colourist Jessie Verroca began the change at 8am on Sunday morning.
Asked if it was nerve-wracking to do the cut so close to the event’s kick off time, he admitted: “That’s an understatement. I like a little padding just in case.”
Marcus had shared details of how he styles Olivia’s new crop on his Instagram account.
He wrote: “Blonde ambition. Nothing like a major change the DAY of the Oscars #oliviacolman looked stunning on her way to the Oscar red carpet.
“Hair #marcusfrancis using @betternatured
Hair color by me + @jessiestellarhair @sarahuslan @mirandaalmond
“I used Better Natured Moisturizing Shampoo, followed by the Moisturizing Masque after just bleaching her hair to platinum blonde.
“On towel dried hair, I applied the Better Natured Reshapeable Heat Lotion with a few spritzes of the Beach Texture Spray. I sculpted her hair into pics with my hands, drying it on low speed it started to set her hair into place.
“For finishing touches I used the Better Natured Strengthening Leave In Cream to piece out any extra kicks on the hair.

And Jessie hailed working on the ‘Favourite’ star’s dramatic change was a “dream”.
She wrote on her own Instagram account: “Wow, what a day. Dreams do happen. Blonde ambition by moi & @marcusrfrancis Of course we used my favorite @redken and a little help from @wellahair #oliviacolman you are salt of the earth! (sic)”

Scarlett Johansson had dress plan months ago

OHMYGOSSIP — Scarlett Johansson knew what she’d wear to the Oscars last August.
The 35-year-old actress – who was nominated for both the Actress in a Leading Role award for ‘Marriage Story’ and the Actress in a Supporting Role prize for ‘Jojo Rabbit’ – donned a custom pewter silk Oscar de la Renta gown for the ceremony on Sunday (09.02.20) before changing into another metallic dress by the fashion house for Vanity Fair’s post-ceremony party, and the brand admitted they were “very lucky” to have arranged to dress the star several months ago.
Traditionally, New York Fashion Week occurs before the Oscars but this year it ran afterwards, but the designers insisted that didn’t take the pressure off thinking about red carpet placements for the new collections.
Asked if it was easier having the show later, co-creative director Laura Kim said: “No, it’s equally stressful.”
Co-creative director Fernando Garcia added: “We were very lucky in having it sorted out early on.
“We took our chances with Scarlett back in August, before any nominations had been announced. We said, ‘Let’s just hope for the best,’ and she was nominated twice.”
The autumn 2020 collection showcased in the fashion house’s NYFW presentation was inspired by Disney’s ‘Fantasia’.
Frenando explained to Vogue.com: “Laura and I started thinking about us and what felt like us, and what came to mind was Disney and ‘Fantasia’ and the idea of ‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice’. If you think of Mickey chopping up everything and making a ruckus, that was Laura and I in the atelier.
“It was just about having fun and making as many beautiful and inspiring clothes as we possibly could do.”
The designers wanted the collection to be comfortable as well as striking to look at.
Laura said: “Because I’m a woman who wears clothes, I’m constantly updating how you should feel in these clothes. There’s definitely more stretch, for example.”
And they are “working on” making their collections increasingly more sustainable.
Laura said: “We make sure all the materials are sustainable — not completely at this point, but we’re working on it. Every season, we’re making more progress.”

Anya Taylor-Joy embraces ‘ridiculous’ treatments

OHMYGOSSIP — Anya Taylor-Joy loves “ridiculous” beauty treatments.
The 23-year-old actress is willing to give anything a go in order to look and feel her best and recently went for a session of cryotherapy, which is where the body is exposed to extremely cold temperatures for several minutes.
She said: “My last treatment was cryotherapy. I’m into anything ridiculous…
“I coat myself in olive oil when I get sunburnt or have a bruise. My mum taught me to do it when I was little.”
The ‘Glass’ actress currently has to get up at 4am because of her filming schedule so has been investing in products to brighten her complexion and make her look less tired.
She told Elle.com: “My last beauty buy was YSL Beauty’s Touche Éclat. A fan once left a note that said: ‘I wanted to say hello but you looked so tired.’ I was like: I’ll work on it.”
Anya doesn’t wear a lot of make-up when she isn’t working so her routine is very quick.
She explained: “My make-up routine takes no time. I wash my face, follow with SkinCeuticals Mineral Radiance UV Defense SPF5O, £41 – it’s tinted, so gives you a little something while protecting skin.
“If I’m going out, I’ll pop on Lancôme’s Hypnôse Mascara and a purple lip. I use SkinCeuticals Phyto Corrective when I’m nervous and cameras are going off – it calms down my redness.”
The ‘Thoroughbreds’ star is planning to take up dance classes again as they help give her focus.
She said: “The whole day feels like exercise, waking up at 4am and going straight to work.
“I want to get back into ballet and hip-hop dance classes. They help me to focus on one moment clearly.”

Lily James loves photoshoots

OHMYGOSSIP — Lily James enjoys photoshoots.
The ‘Rebecca’ actress is a “physical, sensual person” and is particularly inspired by movement when she’s working.
She said: “When I’m filming, the first costume fitting is often where I start understanding how the character moves and stands – their internal rhythm.
“I’m definitely a physical, sensual person. I like photo shoots – I love shapes and movement. How I move my body makes me feel something.”
Costumes are always important to the 30-year-old actress but she struggled at first with the designer outfits she wears as Mrs. de Winter because she didn’t think they were right for the character as depicted in the novel by Daphne du Maurier.
She told AnOther magazine: “Initially I was worried, thinking, ‘She’s meant to be unfashionable – I can’t wear Chanel.’ But we found a good balance.
“I think I was really annoying because I love that book so much. I clutched to it like a lifeline and wasn’t brave enough for a while to just let it go and say, ‘This is a new version.’
“I was like that with ‘War and Peace’, too. I’m a bit of a control freak and I don’t trust myself that much, so if there’s something there saying how it should be, I trust that rather than myself, which was a bit difficult. But then I just have to allow myself to really inhabit it.”
Despite her career success, Lily admitted she still gets nervous and she creates a “caricature” of herself as a “security blanket”.
She added: “When I’m a bit nervous and don’t know what to say, I go very jolly hockey sticks, I sound like a boarding-school girl who’s 15 years old and has midnight feasts. It’s like a security blanket – I just become some sort of caricature. Sometimes I think, ‘Lily, for God’s sake, what’s wrong with you?'”

January Jones loves skincare ritual

OHMYGOSSIP — January Jones’ “favourite thing to do” is her skincare routine.
The former ‘Mad Men’ star – who has an eight-year-old son, Xander – claimed looking after her complexion is the only was she has “a little control” in her life.
She said: “I love rituals. My skin-care regimen is my favourite thing to do. In the morning I exfoliate, then I apply a serum and a cream. At night I have different serums and products that I use, and they’re all lined up in order. My skin-care routine is my only way to have a little control over my life.”
The 42-year-old actress drinks celery juice every day and has found some “amazing” benefits.
She told Shape magazine: “I don’t deprive myself of anything. If I want something–steak, a bagel–I’ll eat it. There’s no diet or strict set of rules.
“Last winter, I started drinking celery juice every day, and I’ve seen amazing results in my energy, digestion, and skin and how I sleep. I have that in the morning, then I take my vitamins and drink coffee.
“I don’t get hungry until around 10 am, but since I usually do Lagree at 9.30, I’ll make myself eat a banana beforehand so I don’t get too shaky.
“Then I have a MacroBar afterward and eat lunch around 11.30–usually salad, soup, or a sandwich.”
January loves lists and being organised because they help her stay calm.
She said: “I’m a very organised person. I feel sane and calm when I know everything is in its place. I always have a list for the day.
“When I get to check something off, it’s the best thing ever. At work, when they say action, I can become someone else and be crazy and messy and erratic, and that feels amazing and therapeutic.
“But at home, the domestic aspect of my life is very important to feeling balanced. I love doing laundry.
“My hair and makeup people always joke because I’ll be all made up and dressed in a gown, and then I’ll take out the garbage or make a lap with the Swiffer or turn on the dishwasher.
“And they’re like, ‘What are you doing?’ And I say, ‘Well, I need all these things done. No one else is going to do it.’ They said we should do a photoshoot with me in couture taking out the garbage because that embodies the two halves of me right there.”

Jane Fonda recycles dress for Oscars

OHMYGOSSIP — Jane Fonda re-wore an old dress to the Oscars to promote sustainable fashion.
The 82-year-old actress slipped into a red sequin Elie Saab gown to present the prize for Best Picture at the 92nd Academy Awards on Sunday night (09.02.20), but fans were quick to spot that she originally wore the dress at the 67th International Cannes Film Festival back in 2014.
Fonda swapped her blonde locks for a shorter, silver crop and paired the glitzy gown with Pomellato jewellery.
Fonda shared a photo on Instagram on Sunday to explain her choice of accessories: “At Oscars wearing Pomellato jewelry because it only uses responsible, ethically harvested gold and sustainable diamonds. #oscars @pomellto (sic)”
In November, the ‘Klute’ star announced that she was going to stop buying new clothes in a bid to be more environmentally friendly and reduce waste.
Fonda was inspired to make that change by Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg.
She previously said: “Greta has also made me think a lot about consumerism. So when I talk to people and say, ‘We don’t really need to keep shopping. We shouldn’t look to shopping for our identity. We don’t need more stuff,’ I have to walk the talk. So I’m not buying any more clothes.”
Fonda wasn’t the only star to recycle a look for the Oscars.
Elizabeth Banks donned a pre-loved scarlet Badgley Mischka dress at the Vanity Fair after-party that she had first worn at the magazine’s party back in 2004.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’, she revealed: “I’m upcycling this dress – I wore this dress for the first time to Vanity Fair in 2004. And, we very rarely get a dress gifted to us.
“Badgley Mischka made this dress for me. Back then, I was in ‘Seabiscuit’, which was a big Oscar nominee, and they gave it to me, and I recently moved and found it in the back of the closet. And it still fits! So, I’m wearing it on the carpet tonight. Very excited to be wearing a dress, recycling a dress from 16 years ago.”
Elsewhere, ‘Booksmart’ actress Kaitlyn Dever joined the tribe of sustainable stars by wearing a red Louis Vuitton dress made from “completely sustainable” fabrics, while ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ star Margot Robbie stunned in a vintage midnight blue gown from Chanel.

Lily Aldridge is tired of being told to ‘fix’ her teeth

OHMYGOSSIP — Former Victoria’s Secret Angel Lily Aldridge is bored of people telling her to get her teeth “fixed”.
The 34-year-old model – who was contracted to the lingerie company from 2010 until 2018 and has also worked for brands such as Ralph Lauren, Levi’s and Bulgari – has a small gap between her front teeth and is regularly told to get the perceived flaw corrected.
However, Lily refuses to let a dentist change her smile because she loves her “gorgeous” and unique teeth.
In a video posted on her YouTube channel, she said: “It’s something people like to comment on a lot. A lot of people in the business and before used to pressure me a lot to change things. My teeth are not perfect and that’s my choice because I really love my teeth. I just thought I’d say it publicly – I chose to keep these gorgeous teeth, and I love them, and it’s OK that they’re not perfect to me. But so many people have a problem with it! They’re like, ‘Why don’t you fix your teeth?’ in comments. And I’m like, ‘I’m 34 years old. If I wanted to fix my teeth, I would fix my teeth.’ I really think the quirks of people are what make you unique and beautiful.”
Lily admits that she’s had to deal with negativity and criticism of her looks on numerous modelling jobs but she has been able to overcome these “hurdles” by having a strong sense of self-worth.
She said: “There’s hundreds of stories. Times when I’ve been told I’m too skinny. Time when I’ve been told I’m too fat. Times when I’ve been told I’m too pretty. Times when I’ve been told I’m not pretty enough. I think if you love what you do, no matter what, you can get through all those hurdles. Don’t let anybody narrate your story.”
Lily certainly oozed self-confidence and radiance when she attended the 2020 Vanity Fair Oscar Party with her husband, Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill, on Sunday night (09.02.20).
The couple – who have two children together – attended the exclusive bash at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills after Lily had finished in her role as as a co-host of the Oscars Red Carpet Show on ABC alongside Billy Porter, talk show host Tamron Hall and film critic Elvis Mitchell.
The catwalk queen looked stunning in a white Gucci dress which was finished off with Bulgari jewellery.

Florence Pugh is a ‘magpie’

OHMYGOSSIP — Florence Pugh is a “magpie” who loves jewellery.
The ‘Little Women’ actress teamed her custom green silk-satin Louis Vuitton gown for the Academy Awards with a pink necklace and rings from the fashion house’s 2019 Riders of the Knight collection and was thrilled to get to wear the diamond, topaz and white gold pieces.
Her stylist, Rebecca Corbin-Murray, said: “She’s a maximalist, no question. She’s a magpie and really loves jewellery and accessories, so she was thrilled to wear a few pieces of high jewellery.
“Florence always loves a twist, and it’s fun to work with someone who embraces a more non-traditional approach to glamour. These colours together created a moment that was beautiful, but also felt really rich.”
And the stylist loved the “clashing” contrast between the colour of Florence’s dress and her jewellery because it gave the outfit a “modern and fresh” feel.
She told The Hollywood Reporter: “When I went in to view all the high jewellery, these pieces really jumped out.
“Knowing the colour of the dress, I thought it would be interesting to do something that was completely opposite and almost clashed a bit.
“That felt more modern than to do something more expected in jewellery, such as green or blue stones. And Florence is a young actress who takes a very forward, directional approach in her fashion, so this felt really modern and fresh.”
Sunday’s (09.02.20) ceremony was the first time the 24-year-old actress has attended the Academy Awards so it was particularly “special” for her to sit down with Louis Vuitton’s creative director Nicolas Ghesquiere and give input into her gown for the big night.
Her stylist said: “It was really a collaboration between Florence and Nicola.
“They had a lovely afternoon together, had tea and went over sketches. He worked with what she envisioned for the red carpet and his own aesthetic.
“This was Florence’s first Oscars, so to be able to sit down and discuss a custom opportunity felt really special.”

Mindy Kaling wore Oceans jewellery replica

OHMYGOSSIP — Mindy Kaling went to the Oscars wearing a necklace that was “identical” to the piece featured at the heart of ‘Ocean’s 8′.
The 40-year-old actress walked the red carpet at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre on Sunday (09.02.20) in a yellow one-shouldered Dolce & Gabbana gown with spectacular diamonds from Chopard and she explained the jewellery had been inspired by her 2018 heist movie.
She told Variety: “In the movie ‘Ocean’s 8’ we stole a necklace that was identical to this one and I felt happy to wear it.”
Mindy revealed the jewellers had sent a security guard to the ceremony to watch over the stunning necklace – which featured 78.46-carats of marquise-cut diamonds and 46.33-carats of round-shaped diamonds set in white gold – and the diamond earrings and ring she was wearing.
However, she admitted she had no idea how much the jewellery cost because she “thought it would scare” her to know, and after her guess of $100,000, appeared stunned when Variety told her it was likely to be closer to millions.
While she may have been dripping with diamonds, the star’s beauty look was much more affordable.
Her make-up artist, Janice Kinjo, revealed to E! News: “I loved using No. 7 because it’s affordable and I wanted to show that drugstore make-up can be Oscars-worthy!
“I used the No7 Protect & Perfect Advanced All in One Foundation because it’s a product that has great, buildable coverage and protects the skin with SPF at the same time.”
She also used the No7 The 360 Mascara, “because I love a voluminous mascara that opens up the eyes”.
Janice added: “The Alpyn Survival Serum works as a primer and a light moisturiser, and I love the Nars Satin Lip Pencil because it’s a chubby lip pencil I can use to fill in the lips quickly and precisely.”
For fans wanting to recreate the look at home, Janice had one big tip.
She warned: “Don’t overdo the eyeshadow. A little shadow goes a long way.”

Janelle Monae sparkled in Swarovski

OHMYGOSSIP — Janelle Monae’s Academy Awards dress featured 168,000 hand-embroidered Swarovski crystals.
The ‘Harriet’ actress walked the red carpet at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre on Sunday (09.02.20) wearing a custom metallic tulle mesh A-line gown with a draped hood and open back from Ralph Lauren and the gown had been so heavy, it required a team of four people to deliver the outfit to her dressing room.
The spectacular dress – which was teamed with crystal-lacquered silk lamé platform sandals and Forevermark jewellery – took 600 hours to make.
The 34-year-old singer-and-actress’ preparation for the event began on Friday (07.02.20) when her hair stylist, Nikki Helms, visited her to wash her natural locks ahead of creating three looks for the red carpet, her performance during the ceremony and the Oscars afterparties.
Speaking to Vanity Fair on Friday, Nikki said: “Prepping is everything. So I’ll be using my Maui Moisture shampoo and conditioner tonight. I’ll also be using their hibiscus water detangler.”
But at that point, the pair hadn’t decided on how Janelle would be styled for the big night.
Nikki said: “I don’t pre-think about the styles too much. Every moment is different, and every look is different. You don’t want to plan for a look, and then at the last minute it changes, so you’re stuck with a look for the other outfit.
“We think alike, it’s so weird. We’re always on the same page.”
Hair preparation on Sunday for Janelle began with a blow dry using a GHD dryer, followed by the company’s Platinum+ flat iron to smooth her locks.
Nikki said: “It’s really good for her because she’s natural in texture, and I don’t want to jeopardize the integrity of her hair.
“She’s always on the road and doing photo shoots everything to her hair, so it’s really important that I use products and tools that enhance the way her hair is naturally, while also getting amazing looks for the red carpet.”

The 31-year-old singer teamed up with Los Angeles-based brand Boy Smells to release a scented block of wax which is the named after her opening track from her fourth studio album, ‘Golden Hour’.
Taking to Instagram to reveal the news this week, Kacey told her fans: “I brought my song ‘Slow Burn’ to life in the form of a smell.
“The scentiment is exactly what the song sounds like. It’s a little dank. A little crisp. Androgynous. Floaty. Earthy. Grounded. It’s the smell of a fire faintly drifting on the breeze as you walk to your favourite bar down the street and cherish slow sips of your favourite wine.
“Briefly thinking about strangers on the other side of the globe in Beijing rushing into work but you’re right here, admiring the fading colours of the disappearing sunset and enjoying exactly where you are in all senses (sic)”
The candle costs $39 (£30), and according to a description on the Boy Smells website, it features notes of incense, black pepper, elemi, guaiac, raspberry, tonka, amber and smoked papyrus.
It comes in a matte gradient glass tumbler with metallic label.
Kacey was delighted to join the creative market and to work with the American brand.

The ‘Rainbow’ hitmaker’s move into the candle industry comes after Gwyneth Paltrow hit headlines last month when she released a controversial candle called ‘This Smells Like My Vagina’, which included notes of geranium and bergamot, on her lifestyle website Goop.

Kim Kardashian West wishes DASH had launched shapewear

OHMYGOSSIP — Kim Kardashian West wishes DASH launched a shapewear line.
Long before the Kardashian’s and Jenner’s had their own beauty and fashion lines, Kim and her sister Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian run the fashion boutique DASH – which closed after 11 years trading in April 2018 – and the ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ star has admitted she wishes back then she had launched a line similar to her SKIMS collection, which launched in Nordstrom department stores is the US on February 5.
She said: “I’ve always wanted to pick pieces and things that I didn’t feel existed in the marketplace.
“That’s really important to me.
“When I would work at DASH, we didn’t even have shapewear. “We didn’t have stuff like that; it existed, but it was just kind of like this secret that no one talked about.
“I wish we would have had it, even just underwear and little pieces up at the register.”
Kim – who worked as a stylist for DASH – knew when she was given the chance to launch her own brand that shapewear was at the top of her list because she had felt it was “missing in the marketplace”.
She added: “As a stylist, I would always be cutting up shapewear and making different styles that just didn’t exist. “When I had the opportunity to come up with my own brand and make something that I felt was missing in the marketplace that was the best feeling.”
Kim also admitted it’s great to have her products on sale in a shop because it’s a more “special” experience for shoppers.
She told InStyle: “I love having a direct-to-consumer business, but I do think there is something special when you can come in and feel something for yourself.
“It’s really different.
“With the products that I work on – fragrance, make-up, shapewear – it is hard to explain to people what that fragrance smells like or what the shapewear really feels like.
“I think we do a good job at messaging that, but there is something special about people being able to try it on and feel our fabric.”

Michelle Pfieffer attracted to father’s fragrance growing up

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Pfeiffer was “really attracted” to her father’s fragrance growing up.
The ‘Hairspray’ star has launched her sixth perfume by her brand Henry Rose, Queens & Monsters, and revealed that the smell was inspired by her dad Richard’s go-to cologne.
She recalled: “When I was growing up and wearing fragrance, I was always really attracted to men’s fragrance, particularly my father’s cologne, which I found very intoxicating.”
The perfume contains sandalwood and jasmine and also has hints of lavender and musk.
The 61-year-old actress added: “It’s a very sensual fragrance, and it’s kind of fresh and creamy at the same time.”
The movie star – who launched Henry Rose last year – revealed she was advised not to launch a genderless fragrance, however her customers were very interested.
She explained to Allure: “For a little short period of time, I kind of went off of it, because I thought they just knew more than me.
“Anyway, turns out they didn’t.”
She added: “So many women tell me that [they wear men’s fragrances]; it’s not just my generation.”
The ‘Stardust’ star believes perfumes do not require labels.
She concluded: “A beautiful scent is a beautiful scent, and it works on a man, and it works on a woman.
“And if you don’t label it as a female or a male scent, people don’t really associate it [with gender], they just associate it with that person.”
Meanwhile, Michelle is hoping to bring out a body lotion by “fall”.
Queens & Monsters is priced at $120.

I love what Rihanna is doing. I think she’s incredible, and her line is great. I also love the Olsen twins. I’ve been a fan since the days of ‘Passport to Paris’.
