Sophie Turner recalls worst ever look

OHMYGOSSIP — Sophie Turner will “forever regret” the outfit she wore to Kit Harrington and Rose Leslie’s wedding.
The 24-year-old actress donned a red blazer dress with over-the-knee boots to her former ‘Game of Thrones’ co-stars’ nuptials in 2018 but she admitted it wasn’t her first choice as she had two “really classy” dresses lined up to wear but neither of them fit.
She told ELLE UK: “I’ll forever regret this look. This was one of my worst looks.
“I had a fashion emergency. Both of the really classy dresses that I picked out did not fit me. It was a disaster.
“It was either the thigh-high boots or these nice heels but I felt like if I just wore the heels all of my leg is showing, if I cover up a little bit then… urgh, it was a disaster. Worst fashion choice.”
The British star – who is married to Joe Jonas – admitted it wasn’t the first time she’d put together an outfit at the last minute, recalling the House of Fraser dress and River Island boots shes donned for the ‘Game of Thrones’ season three press tour.
She said: “I don’t think I had a stylist, or I did, but I didn’t have an outfit for this event. This was a self-put-together look, no stylist involved, and I think I did a pretty good job.”
When her husband turned 30 last year, Sophie wore a black Alexandre Vauthier dress because she wanted to “be a Bond girl for the night” and didn’t care about the fact the same gown had been worn by one of Joe’s ex-girlfriends, Taylor Swift, to a Vanity Fair Oscars party in 2016.
She said: “I wanted to be a Bond girl for the night… I know that Taylor Swift wore this before to an event and she looked much better in it than I did.”

Alexa Chung ‘intimidated’ by fashion line

OHMYGOSSIP — Alexa Chung found working on her fashion line “intimidating” at first.
The 36-year-old launched ALEXACHUNG in May 2017 and admitted she initially “relied heavily” on her team around her and reigned in her creativity because of her own “insecurity”.
She said: “It was such an intimidating process in the beginning, and I had to rely heavily on my team.
My insecurity about not having trained at Saint Martins meant that I was creating clothes that could have been a little bit more unabashedly me.”
But now, the ‘Next in Fashion’ star is far more comfortable with her vision and “proud” of her own ideas.
She said: “I’m not embarrassed by my influences now. I’m just like, yeah, I want to make David Bowie pants! Or whatever it is. I’m a bit more proud of my perspective.”
Alexa knows she still has a lot to learn but one thing she does know is a designer needs to use their “own voice”.
She told Who What Wear: “I’m not at the end of my learning journey, obviously. But something I learned in the process of doing Next in Fashion is that the designers who end up winning are the ones who really listen to their own voice.”
The brunette beauty’s upcoming resort collection is a “psychadelic Easter party” and Alexa took inspiration from binge watching TV advertising drama ‘Mad Men’.
She said: “I was thinking about how women in the ’60s were hopped up on Valium, seemingly having it all but still feeling this malaise.
“I get very carried away with the inspiration, and my team has become really good at translating those ideas into something that actually makes sense.”

Princess Anne visits Corgi to unveil new Doctor Who range

OHMYGOSSIP — Princess Anne has teamed up with luxury brand Corgi to unveil the label’s new ‘Doctor Who’ range.
The Princess Royal visited the Welsh family-run company – which produces luxury socks and knitwear – on Monday (02.03.20), where she was on hand to unveil their latest range of clothes inspired by the hit BBC sci-fi show.
The range includes the costume worn by Jodie Whittaker – who is currently playing the first female iteration of the titular Time Lord – during Series 12, which is available to the consumer market for the first time.
Corgi’s ‘Doctor Who’ range also includes cashmere socks, wool socks, a cashmere scarf, a wool scarf and a hand-made cashmere and cotton blend jumper.
The line – which sources yarn from suppliers in the UK who use sustainable sources – was designed by costume designer Ray Holman, who has worked in the costume department for both ‘Doctor Who’ and its spin-off show ‘Torchwood’.
He said in a statement: “I chose to work with Corgi after visiting the factory and seeing the high quality materials they use and the beautiful products they create. As a small company in the heart of Wales the craft of knitting is still very much alive and we were able to use these skills in the creation of the jumpers, socks and scarves for this range. It has been a pleasure to work with Corgi and create such a wonderful range of garments for The Doctor.”
During Princess Anne’s visit to the Corgi factory in Ammanford, Wales, she met with staff in her capacity as President of the UK Fashion & Textile industry.
The 69-year-old royal was shown the new Doctor Who range as part of this visit, and presented with a cashmere Doctor Who scarf as a gift.
Chris Jones at Corgi, said: “We’re very excited to be working with BBC Studios on a product range for Doctor Who. Working with the creative team, we have produced a beautiful line of distinctive knitwear and socks that deliver both style and high quality that we hope fans will love!”
Products are available to fans worldwide on the Corgi website www.corgisocks.com and range in price from £19 to £295.

Lady Gaga’s costume designer ‘dug deep’

OHMYGOSSIP — Lady Gaga’s costume designer was left “sore and bleeding” from the creations she made for the star’s ‘Stupid Love’ video.
The 33-year-old star donned four pink metal outfits for her new promo clip and Laurel DeWitt had to “dig down” to come up with unique garments for the singer to wear and despite the difficulties of using the materials she did in the garments, she’s very proud of the results.
Laurel said: “The pressure is always there but I found in the past year I get into a different zone when I’m creating. If I panic, the product doesn’t come out right.
So I just work as hard as I can until my hands are sore and sometimes bleeding. After all, it is metal.
“I’ve worked with a lot of celebs, but Gaga has worn everything and has access to everything. So I had to really dig down to create something like no one has ever seen. She looks beautiful and future forward so I’m happy!”
And the costumes – including a metal one-shoulder bikini and spiked long-sleeved jacket – weren’t very comfortable for Gaga to wear either.
Laurel told HollywoodLife.com: “She loved it! I heard it was a bit painful. But you know Gaga, anything for fashion.”
The designer hailed the ‘Star is Born’ actress as a “visionary” who was “very” hands-on with the creative process and she was delighted to work with her.
She said: “The mood boards were a crazy mash of futuristic armour, aliens, and even an insect type vibe. Everything had to be pink so I worked with her style team and just did my interpretation on it. Pink metal! I mean c’mon! It was perfect…
“Gaga is an artist who isn’t scared to step out the box and is constantly evolving. I think she wanted to take on the future of fashion, literally and figuratively. I’m just happy I could be a small part of it.”

Lena Headey supports Haircuts 4 Homeless

OHMYGOSSIP — Lena Headey became an ambassador for Haircuts 4 Homeless because she could see an “authentic connection” in photos of the charity’s work.
The ‘Game of Thrones’ actress is proud to support hairstylist Stewart Roberts’ initiative to provide free haircuts to those in need and came on board after seeing pictures of the non-profit in action on Instagram.
She told US Vogue: “There was something in the pictures I just loved – an authentic connection that you don’t see that much of.
“What touch and time can do for somebody who feels forgotten and unseen is just really powerful. To have your basic needs met is a human right. Most of us walk past people on the street, we make judgements or we’re fearful, but [for the homeless] being invisible to your fellow human beings is painful.”
Stewart and his team of 600 volunteers travel the UK and Ireland cutting hair and giving scalp massages for free and are keen for every person who sits in their chairs to feel clean and good about themselves.
Stewart said: “We see people visibly lift when they leave. They come in hunched over and they walk out tall.”
Lena will soon visit a shelter in Whitechapel, London, to see the charity in action and thinks it’s a great way to “heal and keep love in the world”.
She said: “Paying it forward is the greatest way to heal and keep love in the world.
“Touching people, recognising their value and making those ignored feel seen is simple and yet it’s so rare. Stewart and his team are making such a difference to those who need it.”

Tess Holliday ‘comfortable’ being fat

OHMYGOSSIP — Tess Holliday is “comfortable” calling herself fat.
The 34-year-old model isn’t “OK” with people using her weight to insult her but she’s accepting of the fact she is “plus size”.
She said: “I think words do matter — there is power in words. I’m OK with being called plus size, I’m OK with being called fat.
“If someone is shouting that I’m fat in the street in a derogatory way, then obviously I’m not OK with that, but I’m comfortable using the adjective fat to describe myself, because I am fat.”
Tess is proud to have been a trailblazer for plus-sized women and thinks she’s also helped to make society “more accepting” in general too.
Asked if she feels part of a movement that has liberated women, she told the Sunday Times magazine: “Absolutely. I’ve been doing this for a decade, and when I first started you didn’t see women like me on the covers of magazines, you didn’t see pop stars like Lizzo dominating stages and winning Grammys.
“You didn’t see any of that — so, yeah, I’ve been a part of a movement that has changed the social climate for everybody to be more accepting in general.
“Not only if you’re plus size, but however you choose to live your life and present yourself and your body. Self-love is for everyone and we all need it!”
However, Tess doesn’t feel like she’s a role model, but she is “grateful” to be in a position to speak out on the issues that matter to her.
She said: “I don’t consider myself a role model, but I do feel grateful that I have a platform to talk about topics that a lot of people aren’t willing to discuss or are afraid of.
“I’m grateful that I have the space to talk about the issues that face marginalised groups as well, because every voice helps. I’d rather it be me than someone who is not authentic, using it for their own social gain and not for the benefit or advancement of society in general.
“I’m not perfect and I don’t have all the answers, but I always try to be transparent about that.”

Gugu Mbatha-Raw prefers black clothes

OHMYGOSSIP — Gugu Mbatha-Raw wears “mostly black” when she’s not working.
The 36-year-old actress likes to feel “calm and neutral” in simple clothes when she isn’t filming because she spends so much time on TV and film sets having to “dress up”.
She admitted: “This is as jazzy as I normally get. My wardrobe is mostly black because I dress up for a living, and it makes me feel calm and neutral.”
The ‘Black Mirror’ actress can next be seen in ‘Misbehaviour’, in which she plays Jennifer Hosten, the Miss Grenada who became the first black woman to be crowned Miss World and she admitted researching the role gave her less “judgement” about beauty contests.
She told Britain’s Harper’s Bazaar magazine: “I came to [the part] with an air of judgement, of, oh, you know, beauty queens, but I’ve become more open-minded as to what that represents. I think it’s very easy now to look back and say, ‘Why would you do that? It’s so superficial.’ What’s interesting is that rebellion can often be a luxury.”
As part of her research, Gugu visited Grenada to meet with Jennifer.
She said: “She’s in her seventies now, and she’s got such a regal presence, such posture, these bright, bright eyes – she’s very demure, quite proper but very centred.”
When Jennifer won the contest in 1970, the competition was famously targetted by female protestors and Gugu admitted watching footage of the ceremony was “shocking” because of how sexist it was.
She said: “I watched the whole ceremony and it’s shocking, particularly the bit where the women all have to turn round to show their bottoms…
“It definitely makes you realise quite how far we’ve come.”

Hailey Bieber is ‘nowhere near as good’ at makeup as Kylie Jenner

OHMYGOSSIP — Hailey Bieber is “nowhere near as good” at makeup as Kylie Jenner.
The model has heaped praise on her friend for her makeup talents but admits for herself, she aligns with “healthy, clean, minimalistic beauty”.
She said: “I align with healthy, clean, minimalistic beauty. There are some girls that are so good at makeup, like my friend Kylie [Jenner]. She’s very passionate about makeup and so good at it, which is why people really believe in her products – I would let her do my makeup for an event. I’m nowhere near as good as she is with makeup, which is why I love bareMinerals products – for its natural and effortless approach to beauty.”
And the 23-year-old star doesn’t really wear makeup most days.
She added: “I’ve always been really comfortable about not wearing makeup in public. It gets harder when there’s people taking your photo every day – it makes me feel a little more self-conscious and question if I should have thrown on a little mascara.
“But 90 percent of the time, if you see a paparazzi photo of me with sunglasses, it’s probably because I’m not wearing makeup and I’m just trying to chill. I don’t have the patience to get ready every day. So, contrary to popular belief, most of the time I’m not wearing makeup.”
Meanwhile, Hailey also revealed she loves to “experiment and try new things” when it comes to staying young.
She shared to Marie Claire magazine: “I love to experiment and try new things. I’ve done facial cupping, acupuncture, microcurrent facials, and more. A treatment I do every couple of months is PRP [platelet rich plasma]. They’ll take my blood and use the plasma then roll it into my skin. I leave the plasma on my skin for a day and then wash it off the next day. It gives me the most amazing, smooth glow. I’m going to continue to do this forever – it’s my preferred anti-aging method.”

Harry Styles isn’t ‘sending a message’ with fashion choices

OHMYGOSSIP — Harry Styles isn’t “sending a message” with his fashion choices.
The ‘Fine Line’ hitmaker insists he is not trying to make a point with his clothing choices or painted nails and instead is just being “creative” and “expressing himself” like he is trying to encourage his fans to do too.
Speaking to NPR, he said: “For me, it’s not like doing it to send a message. Part of being on the last tour, when people came to watch the show, I realised, ‘Oh, these people just want to see me be myself, and I’m telling them to be themselves.’ And I just didn’t want to be a hypocrite. I do it when I’m not working, so to me it doesn’t feel like it’s, ‘Oh, I’m sending a message with my nail polish.’ I just put a lot less weight behind it, I think. And sometimes I forget, because I’ll go somewhere and someone will be like, ‘Have you got nail polish on?’ I’m lucky that I work in an industry that allows you to be creative and express yourself, and I’d encourage it to anybody.”
It was previously revealed Harry stores his couture outfits in a frozen vault.
His designer friend Harris Reed, who often creates outfits for the star, said: “I can’t say where it is located, but everything goes to an archive. It’s basically like a giant refrigerator – a frozen vault – somewhere in London where I am not going to disclose. But the clothes all have 24 hours surveillance, which you can look at via an iPad, specifically done for his outfits, and they have all been cryogenically frozen in time to preserve them. That’s also what is more surreal for me. After his first solo tour that I produced 14-15 looks for – he wore about six or seven – I was wondering where the others were and he was like, ‘Don’t worry, they are all under surveillance.'”

Jeremy Scott praises Lizzo

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Scott thinks Lizzo matches his “sensibility”.
The Moschino designer is delighted to have dressed the ‘Good as Hell’ hitmaker for a number of red carpet events – including the Hershey’s chocolate-themed gown she wore to the BRIT Awards in London last week – and it’s a “collaborative” experience because they have such similar ideas.
He said: “I loved dressing her [in the ‘siren’ gown] for last year’s VMAs, as well as last week’s BRITs.
“We dress her for other things but those big awards shows are exciting because she matches my sensibility so perfectly.
“She has that strength of character.
“For the BRITs, she wanted to do a ‘moment’ so I was like, well, the moment could be this.
“It’s collaborative because she has a personality that she wants to create for the moment.
“It was so much fun.
“I love her music, I love her personality, I love who she is, what she stands for. I love it all. And I’m so excited to be a part of it.”
Jeremy couldn’t be more “excited and proud” for the 31-year-old singer and her success.
He added to Grazia magazine: “Lizzo is a force to be reckoned with. I’m so excited and proud and happy for her all at once – watching her continue to grow.
“She’s putting herself in the pantheon of the great pop stars of our half-century. She has all of that in her.
“Awards or no awards – she is beyond any accolades – the voice, the presence, the style, the personality, it’s all there.”
Lizzo teamed her BRITs dress with sandals from Sergio Rossi and the brand were very “proud” to be chosen by her and her team.

Hailey Bieber doesn’t want to be ‘difficult’

OHMYGOSSIP — Hailey Bieber won’t “offend” a make-up artist by asking to use her own products, even though she has “really sensitive” skin.
The 23-year-old model can be left with a painful rash if she uses something that doesn’t agree with her but rather than get a reputation for being “difficult”, she tries not to be too fussy about what gets applied to her skin when she’s working.
She told Refinery 29: “My skin is ultimately really sensitive; I have used something new on set before and I go home and have a rash under my eyes. I have something called perioral dermatitis.
“I will wake up and have it really bad around my mouth and under my eyes. I never know what triggers it and sometimes I can’t prevent it, but I try to use things that are as clean as possible.
“Even if I sleep on a pillowcase at a hotel, I will wake up and have it really bad!”
Asked if she takes her own products to set, she replied: “I don’t because I don’t want to offend a makeup artist. It’s my face but it’s their painting and I never want to be that person who’s difficult, unless I know for a fact that this product makes me breakout or really gets my skin irritated.”
Hailey – who is an ambassador for bareMinerals – has learned what are the best beauty and make-up products for her skin over the years.
She said: “I always like things that you can keep in the fridge that feel cool, like collagen sheet masks.
“My go-to is the bareMinerals Hydrating Foundation Stick. I am not big on face makeup every day, so I will tap it in the areas I need it, like under my eyes or on a blemish.
“For lip, I use the [bareMinerals] hydrating lipstick every day.
“Sometimes, I will just tap one on and use it more of a stain or blush. I love the colours Energy, Purpose, and Memory. Insight is what I wear almost every day.”
