Erdem’s twin coonection

OHMYGOSSIP — Erdem thinks having a twin sister attracted him to the “extraordinary power of the feminine”.
The 43-year-old womenswear designer – whose full name is Erdem Moralioglu – believes his interest in “femininity” stems from the relationship he has with documentary-maker sibling Sara.
He said: “I’ve always been really interested in the feminine and the language of femininity and I think that might have something to do with having a twin who’s the opposite sex.
“There was always an extraordinary power to the feminine.”
The designer loves putting together garments that have a “tension” to them.
He explained: “I’ve always been attracted to things that have a tension to them and things that don’t necessarily go together.”
And Erdem believes clothes are a great form of personal expression.
He told Britain’s Grazia magazine: “I think clothes are an extension of who you are.
“It’s not different to when you’re a teenager, frustrated and trying to express who you are. Everything is a bit of a clue.”
However, the designer insisted he doesn’t pay much attention to his own outfits.
He said: “I look at so much visual information every day, I very rarely think about what I’m wearing.”
Erdem thinks it is a “tremendous privilege” to stage fashion shows for his eponymous label because it is a “great power” to be able to transport an audience somewhere else for a short period of time.
He said: “To take an audience somewhere for eight minutes is a great power.
“To have that platform as a springboard to create a world for just a short period of time and to get to say something every season is a tremendous privilege.”

Hailey Bieber looks to Kendall Jenner for beauty tips

OHMYGOSSIP — Hailey Bieber looks to Kendall Jenner for beauty inspiration.
The 23-year-old model loves crystals and is planning to copy a look her 24-year-old friend sported recently.
She said: “I’m into what people are doing with little crystals on the face right now. Kendall just put crystals on her hairline for something, and I thought it was so clever and cute.”
Hailey is also “obsessed” with beauty trends for 20 years ago.
She told America’s ELLE magazine: “I love beauty trends from the ’90s. I’m obsessed with them! I’ve always been into a pop of something cool like neon on the eye.”
Hailey also opened up about her beauty look for her wedding to Justin Bieber, explaining she opted for a more minimal look as she wanted to enjoy her big day and not worry about reapplying her make-up throughout the night.
She said: “For my wedding day, I knew I wanted it to be very me, just not too much make-up. I knew I wasn’t going to want to be the person where I was going to walk out of my wedding to go touch up my makeup.
“I wanted it to be easy to just dance the rest of the night and just hang out and not have to really worry about it. So, it was fairly natural.”
Justin recently ranked Kendall as his favourite after he was asked to rank Hailey’s friends Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Cara Delevingne or eat bull penis during a game of ‘Spill Your Guts Or Fill Your Guts’ on ‘The Late Late Show With James Corden’.
Rather than eating one of the so-called treats, Justin replied: “Alright. Kendall, Gigi, Cara Delevingne.”
Then, James asked: “So you’re saying Kendall’s the favourite?”
At that point, Justin tried to justify his ranking, explaining that he’s a good friend of Kendall and has known her for a long time.
He said: “Let’s go back to it, though … I know Kendall the best, I’ve spent the most time with Kendall, she’s a good friend of ours.
“I haven’t spent a lot of time with Gigi and I haven’t spent a lot of time with Cara. I have nothing against those people, it’s just I have a better relationship … I don’t want to eat a bull’s penis.”

Meghan Trainor looks to Kardashians for style tips

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan Trainor looks to the Kardashians for fashion inspiration.
The 26-year-old singer is known for her body positive lyrics, but after spending years of not knowing how to style her curves she has finally figured out what works for her, even though it’s costing her a lot of money.
She told The Guardian newspaper: “My style is comfortable, but I also love when outfits show off my curves. I want to look and feel hot. For a long time, I wore baggy clothes and leggings; I felt insecure and I didn’t know how to dress my body.
“I’m still learning what looks awesome on me – it’s a dangerous game of expensive clothes. I love the Kardashians and what they wear. I’m also really into Stella McCartney – I went to her London store and it felt like the future.”
The ‘All About That Bass’ hitmaker has “learned a lot” about fashion since her debut single in 2014 as she didn’t yet know her style.
Speaking of filming the music video for the hit song, Meghan recalled: “I said at the time that I mostly wear black, but they said, ‘Cool, we’re going to do pastels.’ I had no management then, so I was like, ‘OK, but it’s just like a costume, right?’ It wasn’t super-clear, so that was a little frustrating. This look is an example of how I now have a say and know who I am.
“I was 19 when I signed a record deal and I had no idea how to dress myself. I was all Forever 21 – my audition look was a backwards hat and hoops, leopard-print leggings, a lot of black eyeliner and no makeup on my eyebrows. So I’ve learned a lot.”
Now, Meghan has a clear view of herself and how she wants to be perceived as magazines don’t try to cover up her curves.
She explained: “Nowadays, magazines won’t airbrush me – they don’t even hide when I’m wearing shapewear. I think my songs said something really loud about that.”

Serena Williams’ daughter helps with her beauty routine

OHMYGOSSIP — Serena Williams’ daughter Olympia helps her with her morning beauty routine.
The 38-year-old tennis star enlists the help of her two-year-old daughter Olympia – whom she has with her husband Alexis Ohanian – when it comes to getting ready in the morning, as the tot is already a pro at using a beauty blender.
In a video posted to Instagram, she told her fans: “Usually, I do my night routine. I never do my day routine or my morning routine, so I wanted to show you my morning routine and Olympia wants to show you too.”
Serena went on to explain she starts by cleansing her face, and using eye masks to help her look “refreshed”.
She said: “It’s morning and I want to have a refreshed face. So I wake up and I do the Knesko Diamond Radiance and it goes under my eyes.”
In the video, Olympia then pulls out two different beauty blenders and holds them up to the camera, whilst Serena explains to the tot what they’re used for.
The sporting star said: “Yes, that’s for our makeup.”
Serena captioned the video gushing over the toddler’s knowledge of products like beauty blenders, but said she is still “too young” to use eye masks.
She wrote: “@OlympiaOhanian is still too young for eye masks but she sure can work that beauty blender! (sic)”
Meanwhile, Serena recently hailed Jennifer Lopez as her style icon, as she hopes she looks like the singer and actress when she reaches 50.
She said: “I think right now, you can’t think of style and not think of Jennifer Lopez. She’s just a little bit ridiculous and beyond amazing. She’s always been stylish. I mean, I can’t wait to be her age because I want to look like that.”

Kendall Jenner’s smile is the most important part of her beauty routine

OHMYGOSSIP — Kendall Jenner believes a smile is the most important part of any beauty routine.
The 24-year-old model has teamed up with chic dental brand Moon to be the face of a range of dental beauty products, and has said taking care of your smile can “bring a sense of confidence”.
She said: “A smile is one of the first things everybody sees on you. It brings you a sense of confidence, and just feeling good in your smile can really brighten your day. No pun intended.”
Kendall co-created a teeth whitening pen with Moon – which has been available in the US for some time, and launched in the UK earlier this week – and says she loves how “quick and easy” the product is to use when she’s on the go.
She added: “I’m always on the go so I really wanted [to create] something that was a quick and easy thing; where I could just throw it on, whether it be before a casting or before going out to dinner with someone or to a party. Whatever it was, I wanted to feel like I could throw something on and it would work almost instantly.
“It’s super easy. I feel like a lot of the other whitening stuff [on the market] are strips and things – you can’t really wear them out in public. That, or they’re big and bulky, so it’s just a really easy thing to use. You can literally put it in your pocket or your purse.”
And Shaun Neff, Moon’s creator, has said his collaboration with Kendall comes as he’s keen to “bridge the gap” between skincare and dental markets.
Speaking in a joint interview with British Vogue, he said: “We’re really trying to bridge the gap and have a new conversation about oral beauty. We’re taking inspiration from skincare and seeing how we can drop that into the oral care industry. No one has really had that conversation on the level we are.”

Virgil Abloh will decide who he wants to sell his jewellery to

OHMYGOSSIP — Virgil Abloh will only sell his latest jewellery collection to those he feels deserve it.
The 39-year-old fashion designer has created a line of diamond-encrusted bling themed around office supplies in collaboration with Jacob & Co, and has said he won’t be putting the pieces on the market for just anyone to buy.
Instead, Virgil is making those interested in the pieces – which include money clips, bracelets, earrings, and necklaces – fill in a “short questionnaire”, with the designer himself choosing the successful applicants who then get to buy from the collection.
He said: “People will fill out a short questionnaire, submit their request, and I decide where these pieces will go on a case-by-case basis. I want it to feel very old school. It’s bespoke.”
But Virgil insists his decision has not been made so he can sift through his less stylish followers.
He added: “I wouldn’t be that blunt! The transaction becomes very particular so the consumer can value it as if they’re owning a special piece from my studio rather than, say, a pair of trainers.
The Off-White founder believes his new line – which is made using 18-karat gold paperclips – is “an object of art” rather than fashion, and says the collection is one of the “purest forms of expression” he’s ever created.
Speaking to British Vogue, he explained: “This collection is one of the purest forms of my expression that I’ve come up with.
“A paperclip is less than five cents. Done in diamonds it obviously exudes a different value, but it offers the same intrigue to the brain when you look at it. I love the conundrum. I love that your brain can ping-pong between value based on form and materiality. That’s why I call it an object of art rather than a piece of fashion.”
Virgil’s new collection launched this week, and prices range from $3,000 to $72,000.

Dame Helen Mirren too lazy for hair dye

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Helen Mirren is too “lazy” to dye her hair.
The 74-year-old actress has been embracing her natural grey hair for several years, and has said the reason she doesn’t bother covering her tresses in a different colour is because it’s “a lot of work” that she doesn’t want to keep up.
She said: “I did it because I’m lazy. Honestly, I’m so lazy about my hair! It’s a lot of work and as wonderful as many hairdressers are, I don’t want to sit in a salon for hours. I just can’t be bothered with that.”
The ‘Catherine the Great’ star has experimented with wash-out colours though, such as debuting a light pink look at the Cannes Film Festival last year.
Explaining her decision to go pink, she added: “I was watching an episode of ‘America’s Next Top Model’ and there was this little English girl on it. She had bright pink hair and she looked so great. Normally, she had sort of whitey-blonde [hair], like me. She went pink one week and then the next week she wasn’t pink and the next week she was pink again. So I realised it was something you could come and go with really easily. So I thought, ‘Well, I’ll do pink for the night.’
“And of course, you’ve got these great dyes now. You can wash them in, wash them out. So the great thing about this colour is it’s a great base for going pink or green or blue.”
And Helen has heaped praise on other stars including Jane Fonda and Sharon Osbourne, who have recently ditched the dyes to embrace their natural colour.
She said: “I think women were just so terrified of having white or grey hair because it immediately put them into a different category. And of course, you are in that age group. I’m sorry, but you are! So, why not just embrace it, go a long with it and welcome it? Make it a positive thing as opposed to a negative thing.”
Helen also wants to discourage men from covering up their greys too, as she thinks it “looks awful”.
The ‘Good Liar’ actress told People magazine: “All men, stop dying your hair! It looks so awful. It really doesn’t make you younger. Embrace the grey or the white or whatever it is.”

Kourtney Kardashian loves vampire facials

OHMYGOSSIP — Kourtney Kardashian loves vampire facials.
The 40-year-old reality star has the beauty treatment as often as possible and likes to combine it with a whole day of “downtime” where she relaxes and looks after her appearance.
She told Health magazine: “I love platelet-rich plasma [treatments]. They take your blood and spin it, and then take the plasma and microneedle it [into your face]. They call it the Vampire Facial.
“It’s usually a day of downtime, but it’s something I like to do as often as I can.”
The ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ star is also a fan of cryotherapy treatments, where the body is exposed to extreme cold.
She added: “I do saunas. And Khloé [Kardashian] and I did cryotherapy together. We felt so good afterward. We were like, ‘Let’s do this every morning!'”
Kourtney also admitted growing up in the “super-skinny” era left her confused about what foods were healthy and what weren’t.
She said: “It’s interesting. I grew up in that super-skinny era. ‘Fat-free’ and calorie counting was the thing. I don’t even think about those things anymore. No one cared about carbs; it was just [about] no fat. I didn’t know what was healthy or not healthy growing up.”
The brunette beauty – who has Mason, 10, Penelope, seven, and Reign, five, with former partner Scott Disick – tries to vary her work outs so she doesn’t get “bored” and exercises to maintain her current physique.
She said: “[Post-kids,] with my body, it’s become more about maintenance. As far as my workouts, I feel really good.
“I notice better results when I mix it up between trainers or do boxing, so I don’t get burned-out or bored.”

Vogue Williams didn’t jump on tan bandwagon

OHMYGOSSIP — Vogue Williams hope people don’t think she’s “jumped on a bandwagon” with her fake tan line.
The 34-year-old model-and-DJ admitted her fame can be a “hindrance” when it comes to Bare by Vogue because it’s harder to convince people she “loves and believes” in her product as they don’t understand her “motives” for moving into the beauty business.
She said: “The only hindrance about being well-known and going into a venture like this is that people question your motives.
“I don’t want people to think I’ve jumped on a bandwagon for the sake of a page-entry, the range is something I love and believe in.
“I try to be super honest with everything that I do, and I’m incredibly proud of Bare by Vogue.”
Vogue – who has 17-month-old son Theodore with husband Spencer Matthews – was originally set to sign a deal to promote another fake tan firm before it was suggested she launched her own products.
She told Grazia magazine: “I was due to be the face of another tanning brand (luckily I hadn’t signed a contract) when my now-business partner approached me with the idea of launching one.
“We went back and forth with different formulations until it was absolutely perfect.”
Vogue has learned a lot about the fake tan business since launching her brand.
She said: “If I could have given myself one piece of advice at the beginning of this venture it would have been to have more patience.
“Arriving at the perfect tan formulation, for example, takes so much time. Big changes to a formula would take 40 weeks.
“The feeling when you arrive at the perfect product, though, is absolutely amazing. I’m so proud of this, and I never thought I’d feel like that. I just have so much focus on it. As a brand and an idea it’s constantly evolving, it’s so exciting.”

Human guinea pig Martha Hunt

OHMYGOSSIP — Martha Hunt is a “human guinea pig”.
The 30-year-old model feels “super lucky” to receive so many free beauty products because she loves sampling different things to take care of her skin.
Speaking on Harper’s Bazaar’s Go to Bed with Me series, she said: “Just a disclaimer. I’m super lucky to get so many products sent to me. So I’m basically a human guinea pig.
“I do oftentimes try new products because I’m very fortunate that so many are sent to me but if my skin starts reacting, I’ll stop using those products.”
When she tries something new, Martha always research what exactly is in the product.
She added: “I pay attention to ingredients and look them up before I use the product, but I mostly pay attention that quality ingredients are used. Sometimes they can be confusing because they’re very scientific but usually there’s enough science to back it up.”
The Victoria’s Secret Angel’s main priority when it comes to skincare is hydration.
She said: “I tend to have really dry skin so my skincare routine is usually pretty simple and just to keep it hydrated.”
And Martha loves the feeling of washing away her make-up at the end of the day.
She said: “It’s the most satisfying feeling to wash your face, I don’t know if its because it’s my job to be constantly wearing make-up or if every woman feels like this way but I just love that feeling of washing everything away – there she is in all her glory!”
Even if disaster struck, the model – who is engaged to Jason McDonald – would still find the time to look after her skin.
She said: “There was a meme recently that asked if your fiance was kidnapped on a deserted island or something, would you still do you skincare routine.
“I was immediately like ‘That’s insane, of course not’ then I got to thinking about it more and was like, ‘Maybe I would be that person.’ So sorry fiance!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Maluma will wear Dior on stage during his world tour.

Maluma’s stage wardrobe will include suits and sheer jumpsuits featuring Dior’s vintage newspaper print, as well as a white organza jacket with saturated blue pleated georgette embroideries by Lesage.
Kim said in a statement to WWD: “I love Maluma’s unique energy, his abundant creativity, his passion for life.
“I’m very happy to accompany him onstage and support his talent for this special event.”
The ‘Que Pana’ singer – whose real name is Juan Luis Londoño Arias – loves to express himself through fashion and is “excited” to have teamed up with Dior, after first meeting the designer in June 2019 during Paris Fashion Week.
He said: “Fashion, just like my music, has allowed me to express myself creatively and be myself without needing to change to fit in,” he said.
“When I met Kim and the Dior team during my first Paris Fashion Week, they gave me the same energy. I am excited that they will be part of the 11:11 vision through design and help me offer fans a full experience of music, fashion, energy with no cultural barriers.”

Charli Howard’s family didn’t want her to model

OHMYGOSSIP — Charli Howard’s family didn’t want her to be a model.
The 28-year-old beauty – who suffered from anorexia and bulimia from the age of 13 – had always admired the “glamorous” and skinny catwalk stars of the 1990s when she was growing up, but her father in particular didn’t want her to follow in their footsteps.
She said: “It was a massive family argument when I said I was going to be a model.
“But thinking back to my room as a teenager, it really was just images of models. I remember a particular picture of top Russian models [that was on her wall], their hip bones were jutting out and there was a massive gap between their thighs.
“Kate Moss, Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, they were the big celebrities. It was such a different life to what I had. These women were glamorous, thin, they had money, they had boyfriends.
“As someone with eating disorders, you associate happiness with a body shape. You think, “These images of smiling, super-anorexic women, that’s what I’ve got to look like.’ ”
Charli famously wrote an explosive Facebook post in 2015 calling out those in the industry who had repeatedly urged her to lose weight and though she knew it could spell the end for her career, she didn’t care.
She told Stella magazine: “I’d seen one girl who had [spoken out] before me, and she never worked again.
“I was done with modelling, I didn’t care about the repercussions. That night when I posted it, I had two or three people call me and say, “You need to delete that.’ ”
In the first years since her post went viral, the industry has grown more diverse but Charli still thinks there’s more to do.
She said: “Plus-size models are now in images everywhere and that just didn’t exist before.
“I still do wish that there was a bit more diversity, but we are embracing curves. It’s stranger now if you see a line-up of models on the page and there isn’t a curvier one in there. If a brand doesn’t do it, it reflects badly on them.”

Giorgio Armani donates over 1 million to fight coronavirus

OHMYGOSSIP — Giorgio Armani is donating $1.4 million to fight coronavirus in his native Italy.
The 85-year-old fashion designer’s business group want to help in the fight against the vast-spreading COVID-19 – which has infected more than 9,000 and killed 450 in the country – so are handing over 1.25 million Euros.
The money will go to three hospitals in Milan, one in Rome, and the Civil Protection Agency.
The donation has been given amid reports the health system in the Lombardy region is “a step away from collapse”, with intensive care facilities struggling to cope with the huge influx of patients, and supplies diminishing as a result.
Italy has been placed on lockdown, with the public required to show a genuine need to travel outside the areas where they live, in a bid to contain the virus.
Schools, universities, theaters, cinemas, and nightclubs fave been closed and restaurants and bars are only permitted to open between 6am and 6pm.
Most Armani employees are working from home, while production sites are operating with a skeleton staff.
Last month, the fashion house livestreamed their Milan Fashion Week show after taking the decision not to have an audience in a bid to help curb the spread of the virus.
Announcing their plans, the company explained in a statement: “The show will be shown behind closed doors, due to the recent developments of coronavirus in Italy, live-streamed in front of an empty theatre on the Armani website, therefore please do not attend the show this afternoon.
“The decision was taken to safeguard the well-being of all his invited guests by not having them attend crowded spaces.”

Vanessa Hudgens loves matching lipstick

OHMYGOSSIP — Vanessa Hudgens loves matching her lipstick to her outfit.
The ‘High School Musical’ actress doesn’t have a signature lip colour she sticks to because she’d rather co-ordinate her make-up with her outfit.
Asked if she has any beauty must-haves, she said: “I mean what girl doesn’t is the question. I have recently been obsessed with Charlotte Tilbury’s lipsticks. She sent me a little care package and I have so many different coloured lipsticks, and it makes me so happy because I love matching.
“So if I’m going to wear a red top I have the perfect match red lipstick.”
And Vanessa loves a bright colour to cheer up a gloomy day.
She added: “I’m very into colours, it’s the only way to survive in the cold of winter.”
The 31-year-old actress doesn’t have any “rules” when it comes to fashion and but she simply chooses her outfit to match her mood.
She told 7News.com.au: “I don’t do rules! My style changes so much it’s kinda crazy that I just dress for how I feel in that moment because I might change again in a few hours.”
When she isn’t working, Vanessa likes to relax with a glass of wine and her favourite video game.
She said: “I’m always a sucker for a glass of red wine, and then I take that red wine, sit down and open up ‘The Sims’.
“My schedule is always so crazy so it’s really nice to have a game that lets me escape into my own little Sims world, which I create myself.
“I first discovered ‘The Sims’ really young. But my sister was even younger and she would play it all the time. I feel like I have some of my best memories sitting down with her and watching her play, and playing with her.
“I kinda forgot about it for a second then realised it’s still a thing and started playing myself and have completely gotten hooked with the game and then game packs, the magic game packs – I’m like what do you mean I get to spend all day casting spells – it sounds like the best time ever.”

Virgil Abloh could work with Nigo again

OHMYGOSSIP — Virgil Abloh is “open to” another collaboration with Nigo.
The Louis Vuitton creative director has teamed up with the Japanese streetwear designer on a new collection, LV2, and though the venture was supposed to be a one-off, it’s possible there will be another range later down the line.
Asked if LV2 is just a one-off, Virgil said: “Yeah, but as we’ve finally finished, there’s already been talks that this could be an ongoing logic. I think both sides are open to it, so I wouldn’t rule out that other things could come.”
Virgil teased the pair have special plans ahead for the release of the collection.
He said: “I can say the future will involve a way of activating this collection, when it comes time to release, that will be more immersive than just simply putting it out into stores.
“We both have a passion for eventising these moments. It’s not just the clothes, it’s the context.”
The 39-year-old designer learned a lot about “detail and precision” from Nigo, and was impressed by his “heartfelt” nature.
Asked what he’d learned from Nigo, he told Vogue.com: “It’s a sense of detail, a Japanese precision. But also generosity. He’s extremely heartfelt.
“I’m American and I work a lot in Europe. In Paris fashion can be cutthroat. It can have this manic feeling. In America it’s very workhorse.
“Working with him and having him in the studio, seeing his disposition and how he was thinking of the challenge of making tailoring, of how to refine all these ideas, he did it in a very respectful, calm, polite, but very precise way.”
And Virgil was impressed by his collaborator’s way of working on his own brand, Human Made.
He recalled: “We met in his studio [in Tokyo]. He has a completely vertical fashion brand with Human Made. In one building, he designs, does the photo shoot, does the manufacturing.
“I was impressed by that.”
