Claudia Schiffer shunned Hermes bag offer

OHMYGOSSIP — Claudia Schiffer declined to have a Hermes bag named after her.
The 49-year-old supermodel can’t “remember” why she snubbed the prestigious offer from the fashion house, who have previously released bags in honour of the likes of Jane Birkin, Alexa Chung and the late Grace Kelly.
She said: “Once Hermès offered for a handbag to be named after me and I thought, No! I don’t quite remember why now…”
Claudia was used to being “showered” with gifts when she was one of the world’s most in demand models, but never felt she could take “advantage”.
She told the new issue of Britain’s ELLE magazine: “People normally showered you with everything, really. Particularly at Chanel. Karl [Lagerfeld] would say, ‘Go downstairs to the boutique and take whatever you want. You can take the entire collection – whatever.’
“Where others may have taken advantage, I never felt I could.
“There’s a certain limit when someone says, ‘Choose what you want.’ You don’t literally choose everything there is.”
Though the German star never wanted to be famous, she was always determined to be “at the top” of the modelling industry and regularly shunned parties to stay focused.
She said: “I never had that urge to be in the limelight
“When I started modelling, I didn’t go to an agency saying, ‘I want to be a model.’ And I never looked at it as, ‘I want to be famous’, either. So I came at the angle of, ‘I want to be good at it and I want to be at the top.’…
“I think the term was, ‘She’s very professional’. I would just do my work and go: ‘I’m leaving! I’m rushing out the door!’
“There were constantly parties after dinner, but I always thought, I must succeed, I must be the best, I must go from place to place and not take time off. So there was rarely ‘Let’s have drinks’ afterwards.”
The May issue of Elle goes on sale on Friday (02.04.20).

Jodie Comer’s beauty failures

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Comer “respects” her parents for letting her “get on with” her beauty failures when she was younger.
The ‘Killing Eve’ star admits she tried a number of different looks when she was younger as her hometown of Liverpool is “the city of glam”.
Speaking to Vanity Fair magazine, she shared: “I don’t know if you’re familiar with Liverpool, where I’m from, but Liverpool is the city of glam. I got a curly blow at the hairdresser’s as a teenager with [all day rollers] that you take out at the last minute so your hair stays in longer. Our eyebrows were super heavily drawn on. I look back at pictures of myself, and I’m like, ‘Whoa!’ I respect my parents for just letting me get on with it!”
Meanwhile, Jodie previously admitted she is trying to “accept” the way she looks as she has “always struggled” with her appearance.
She said: “A big thing is trying to accept that, with acting, the reason for getting a part or not getting part isn’t always about your talent or how talented people think you are; a lot of it is about your looks. Always worrying about the way you look or your weight for certain roles – that has always been a big insecurity of mine. Growing up as a teen, I always struggled with my weight and body image.
“What I’m trying to do – and I feel like I’m succeeding a little bit in – is to be accepting of the fact that … I always put a stress on myself having to look a certain way, when you are who you are. Your ability to act, or whatever your job is, is worth so much more than how you look.”

Mel C’s fashion choices have become ‘more feminine’

OHMYGOSSIP — Mel C’s fashion choices have become “more feminine” as her career has evolved.
The 46-year-old pop star rose to fame as part of the Spice Girls in the 90s – but Mel has slowly moved away from her Sporty Spice persona over the years.
Reflecting on her fashion evolution, Mel – who released her debut solo album, ‘Northern Star’, in 1999 – shared: “I felt a bit rebellious when I released my first solo record. I was very keen to be seen as something separate from the Spice Girls, so I chopped all my hair off, went a little bit punk and spent a couple of years trying to not be Sporty Spice.
“More recently, on tour with [the LGBTQ+ collective] Sink the Pink, my costume looked like a corset version of an American football top, but it was made from old pairs of trainers: a bit of Nike, a bit of Adidas.
“I still love athleisure, but I also feel confident enough to be a bit more feminine at times. I know what suits me: simplicity, tailoring, a more androgynous look.”
Mel also acknowledged how her Sporty Spice persona has managed to influence fashion trends.
She told the Guardian newspaper: “I’ve always liked that rock’n’roll chic; Kate Moss looks effortlessly cool.
“So much of fashion history repeats itself: my daughter is now 11 and she and her friends are all dressing like Sporty Spice – they don’t even realise that I was there first.”

Zoey Deutch has been battling ‘hormonal acne’ for a decade

OHMYGOSSIP — Zoey Deutch has been battling “hormonal acne” since she was 15.
The 25-year-old actress says her skincare routine always includes a specific set of products designed to tackle her “debilitating” acne, which she has struggled with for a decade.
Explaining her skincare routine, she said: “I’ve had hormonal acne since I was like … I wanna say 15, but it got really bad in my 20s. It shouldn’t make me that self conscious, but I can’t make eye contact, I don’t wanna … you know, those kind of things that you hear where you’re like ‘Oh what a sob story’, but really when you’re going through it, it’s debilitating.”
Zoey uses the iS Clinical cleanser along with an antibiotic wipe to help her clean her face from all traces of make-up, but insists skincare routines will be different for everyone.
The ‘Zombieland: Double Tap’ star added: “You have to figure out what works for you, so again, this is what works for me, and here we go.
“So here’s this iS Clinical, it’s literally the only cleanser I can use that doesn’t make me break out. I like to use a Foreo shenanigans to apply it. Especially when you’re taking off make-up, it’s so important to get all of it off and this is a great little assistant in that.
“This antibiotic wipe has changed my life, I have to use it. I think also partially just also even more so gets rid of any make-up, residue make-up, that’s on there too which is a plus.
The beauty then uses two separate moisturisers on her face, because the heavy creams often cause her to break out in spots.
In a video discussing her skincare with Vogue magazine, she said: “Moisturisers! Moisturisers are, I think for me, product-wise, the thing that triggers my cystic hormonal acne the most. So get ready for a duo moisturiser moment.
“La Mer moisturising soft cream, from here [top lip] up, and then I use this stuff [Elta MD] for my chin. It was recommended to me by a dermatologist.”
Zoey finishes her skincare routine with some eye cream, before using a vibrating lifting tool to smooth it all in, and finally spritzing on some face mist.

Anna Wintour and Tom Ford collaborating on COVID-19 fund for fashion industry

OHMYGOSSIP — Anna Wintour and Tom Ford have come together to support fashion designers through the coronavirus pandemic.
The editor in chief of Vogue magazine and the chairman of the Council of Fashion Designers of America are repurposing the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund – which was initially set up in the wake of the terrible events of 9/11 – to help those fashion houses affected by COVID-19.
Explaining their new initiative, they shared: “A Common Thread is a storytelling initiative spearheaded by Vogue and in collaboration with the CFDA, to raise both awareness and needed funds for those in the American fashion community who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund was originally established as a response to the tragedy that took place on 9/11. Now, as we are all faced with new challenges, it is being repurposed to – in addition to raising and distributing funds to those who have been most affected – highlight designers and tell the stories of those who work tirelessly behind the scenes across the country in our incredibly strong and vibrant fashion industry. Parameters of the fund are still being established, and applications will be available on the CFDA website beginning on Wednesday, April 8th. The fund is not limited to former Fashion Fund participants or members of the CFDA.”
It comes after Tom urged the government to support fashion, as they suffer a reduction in sales due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The 58-year-old fashion designer said in a statement: “I would suspect and hope that this is the chief focus of any fashion organisation now: taking care of their people. Inclusion of the fashion industry in the $1.6 trillion stimulus package expected to be released imminently is critical and of the utmost importance for us all. The CFDA understands that the industry needs immediate critical support and is working to access relief at the federal and local levels.”

Ashley Graham wearing ‘full glam’ to online business meetings

OHMYGOSSIP — Ashley Graham is wearing “full glam” to her online business meetings.
The 32-year-old model is staying at home amidst the coronavirus pandemic but has decided to do a full face of make up to all her online meetings and video calls to stop the “brain fog” she has been feeling.
She wrote on Instagram: “Anyone else wearing full glam to zoom meetings and dinner with the family? … But in all honesty, getting ready and feeling like I am in my routine for a few minutes of the day gave me a short escape from the brain fog I’ve been feeling. Wearing my @revlon Tropical Vibes collection (and trying to channel some warmer vibes in chilly Nebraska) (sic)”
Ashley is very open and honest about her body and she previously insisted modelling has given her a “platform” to deliver a message of positivity to other women around the world.
Ashley – who has her own podcast, called ‘Pretty Big Deal’ – said: “I think modelling gave me a platform in general and I think now more than ever, models have the opportunity to talk about things that are important to them, social issues. We have a platform now where we should be using it to change people’s lives, to give information to people in whatever capacity that is for you. With this podcast, I have full control. I own the narrative, and I think that there’s something incredibly liberating about that. When it comes to fashion, I’m literally giving up my body and face to a company or to a magazine, who could edit me and in ‘Pretty Big Deal’, I’m unedited. I put myself on the line, I talk about felling insecure about my body and my ups and downs with food and men, family, it runs the gamut – and I think that people know when they’re coming down and sitting on my couch, it’s about truth and honesty.”

Justin Timberlake blames double denim fashion fail on being ‘young and in love’

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Timberlake blamed his double denim fashion fail on being “young and in love”.
The ‘Sexy Back’ hitmaker famously sported the outfit to match with his then-girlfriend Britney Spears as they walked the red carpet at the 2001 American Music Awards, but he has insisted he did it because he fell for her badly.
Speaking to former *NSYNC bandmate Lance Bass’ podcast, The Daily Popcast, he said: “You do a lot of things when you’re young and in love.”
The 39-year-old singer previously worked with denim company Levi’s.
Speaking back in 2019, he said: “When you work with such an institution like Levi’s, you don’t want them to be anything but Levi’s. And so it’s just a little bit of a swerve here and there on fit or cut or wash or texture and that’s it. And then saying, wouldn’t it be fun to make a workman’s vest, for instance, or wouldn’t it be fun to throw a hoodie on a trucker jacket? For the first two seasons, we created a bit of a left-of-centre aesthetic and we just want to continue to play up on that … I like to mix things up always.”
And Justin loves how denim can be adapted to suit any style.
He shared: “I get to travel to a lot of different places and I think the biggest part of it, to be honest, is to create something that you feel could be worn in Paris, could be worn in New York, could be worn In Stockholm, could be worn in L.A. and could be worn in Memphis, Tennessee.”
