Kylie Jenner on ‘hair health journey’

OHMYGOSSIP — Kylie Jenner is on a “hair health journey”.
The 22-year-old reality star is known for wearing hair extensions and wigs to quickly change up her hairstyle, but as she’s now spending more time indoors as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, she has opted to embrace her natural locks and give her hair time to recover from the strain of extensions.
In an Instagram video, Kylie can be seen playing with her shoulder length tresses – which are currently a light shade of brown, as opposed to her natural dark brown locks – alongside the caption: “Hair health journey rn. (sic)”
And in a follow-up Instagram Live session alongside her friend Stassie Karanikolaou, the ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ star revealed she has also opted to ditch her fake nails and eyelashes.
She told her pal: “My nails didn’t even need to be taken off. This is such a good time to just take your hair out and your nails out, no lashes. This is actually the first time I’ve worn my natural hair.”
Meanwhile, Kylie was recently revealed to be doing her bit to help hospitals amid the pandemic, as it was announced her Kylie Cosmetics brand will be producing hand sanitisers for hospitals across California to help fight the spread of infection.
Kylie and her mother Kris Jenner will be distributing the antibacterial gels – which are currently in short supply due to the global health crisis – via the beauty conglomerate and Kylie Skin investor, Coty.
The hand sanitiser will also included a special message for recipients, which will read: “Dedicated to first responders working to support our communities.”
A representative for Kylie Skin has confirmed that the hand sanitizer will be made by Coty’s factories and will not affect the production of Kylie Skin products.
The lip kit mogul has also donated $1 million to help supply protective wear to healthcare professionals fighting coronavirus on the front lines.

Jonas Brothers’ skincare routine

OHMYGOSSIP — The Jonas Brothers cleanse their skin “twice a day”.
The ‘Sucker’ hitmakers – made up of brothers Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas – are known for being heartthrobs, but their good looks require a rigorous beauty routine which involves cleansing twice a day, as well as using a facial scrub “three times a week”.
Celebrity groomer Marissa Machado – who works with the band – spilled the secrets on the Jonas approved skincare routine as she gave tips to couples going through self-isolation together amid the coronavirus pandemic.
She said: “It’s important to continue to cleanse your skin twice a day followed by a facial scrub three times a week especially for men with stubble or facial hair. This is a great time for men to try new looks with their hair and/or facial hair. You have the time to try on a new you!”
And Marissa also urged men to use face masks to help care for their skin, as she said having a beauty pamper day is a great way for couples to spend time together.
Speaking to E! News, she added: “Doing face masks is always a fun way to get your man to care for his skin,” she shared. “Maybe give him an at home facial massage with a nice oil and gua sha. If your man needs a shave, maybe offer to do it. Have him teach you his way.”
The Jonas Brothers may well be having beauty days with their own partners, as they are each self-isolating with their wives.
Kevin has been married to Danielle Jonas – with whom he has daughters Alena, six, and Valentina, three – since 2009, whilst Joe tied the knot with Sophie Turner last year, and Nick married Priyanka Chopra in December 2018.
Meanwhile, Sophie – who is currently expecting her first child with Joe – recently branded her husband a “psychopath” for wearing jeans whilst in self-isolation.
She said: “I mean, this is something that’s only kind of come to my attention since this quarantine thing, but I saw … it was like a meme online or some comment or something and someone said, like, ‘If you’re wearing denim pants at home, like, what does that say about you as a person?’ Like, are you a psychopath? And Joe does that. Joe wears denim trousers at home – where no one can see him. I’m not wearing denim trousers. This is the most dressed up I’ve been in days. I’m wearing my sweatpants. I’m business on top, party on the bottom.”

Jessica Alba uses face masks for ‘self-care’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessica Alba is using face masks for “self-care”.
The 38-year-old actress has insisted self-care is “really important” during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic – which has seen people self-isolate in their homes and social distance themselves from others – and has revealed her own method of taking care of herself is to apply a face mask.
She said: “I think, right now, it’s a really important time to do self care. I think self care is super important and I always start my self care routine, which is daily – especially when I’m on Zoom calls – with my mask.”
Jessica uses the Honest Beauty Prime + Perfect Mask – which was created by her own business, Honest Company – in the morning, as the product has pore-refining and skin-tightening benefits.
During an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon’ – which was filmed from home through video calls – she added: “My daughter Honor [11] uses it as well. It’s berries and rich in antioxidants.”
And although the ‘Never Been Kissed’ star – who has Honor, as well as Haven, eight, and Hayes, two, with husband Cash Warren – loves to wear face masks, she recently admitted the process scares her youngest child.
She said: “I usually terrify my two year old.”
Meanwhile, Jessica gave a rundown of her make-up routine last month, and said she loves a brown shimmery smokey eye but admitted she used to be “intimidated” by the idea of doing it for herself.
She said: “It’s a great day-to-night. I used to be really intimidated with doing my own eye shadow.
“Then, I learned all you have to do is get a fluffy brush and you can buff out all your mistakes!”
Before using a lengthening mascara, Jessica always uses a primer first.
She said: “I always use a [lash] primer. It works so well with people with sensitive eyes, like me!”
She then uses cream blush, and explained: “Just put a little bit where you would naturally flush.”

Kris Jenner to launch KKW perfume

OHMYGOSSIP — Kris Jenner is set to launch her own KKW perfume ahead of Mother’s Day in America on May 10.
The 64-year-old momager has teamed-up with her daughter Kim Kardashian West for their first mother/daughter fragrance collaboration which will be available from April 15
In a statement, Kris said: “Creating a fragrance together with Kim in time for Mother’s Day was magical! We’ve talked about doing this for years, so to see our shared vision come to life has been amazing.
“Kim and I have similar tastes which makes working together a dream; we both wanted a classic, ageless scent that is beautiful and empowering for anyone who wears it and I think this fragrance perfectly embodies that.”
The KKW x KRIS perfume has been created to emulate a Mother’s Day brunch combining fresh freesias and Aperol spritz accord and with notes of freesia, gardenia, cashmere woods and golden amber to create a woody and sweet floral scent
Talking about the inspiration for the scent, Kim said: “We chose really fresh, light florals complemented by creamy notes that are personal favourites, and it smells exactly like my mom who always smells amazing.”
Kim also noted the bottle is different from her usual range of KKW Fragrance, having collaborated with sisters Khloe and Kourtney for her KKW Diamond range and Kylie Jenner for their lips bundle.
Instead, Kim has designed the packaging using the colour palette from her own home and added a silhouette of a mother and daughter to recreate their “unconditional love”.
She explained: “The design of the bottle was inspired by the neutral color palette inside my home, knowing it would look beautiful in any bathroom or vanity but also signifies the close bond between a mother and daughter.”
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, KKW Frangrance will donate 20 per cent of profits from all sales until May 5 to Blessings in a Backpack, an organisation that provides food on the weekends to elementary school children across America.

Tyra Banks: I’m 30 pounds heavier since Sports Illustrated cover

OHMYGOSSIP — Tyra Banks has admitted she is “30 pound heavier” than her Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover.
The 46-year-old supermodel came out of retirement to make history as the oldest model on the Swimsuit Issue cover in 2019, but has since indulged with her meals and compares dishes from various restaurants with her family.
In a video clip with Harper’s Bazaar, she said: “I have a very interesting relationship with food. I have to say that it is one of the most important things in my life.
“Right now, you can’t tell because I have on a men’s blazer, [but] I am 25 pounds heavier than I was on the cover of a very famous swimsuit magazine that came out last year.”
The ‘America’s Next Top Model’ star has no regrets about the extra weight as she has always enjoyed dining out and tests herself to eat at various restaurants throughout the year as one of her hobbies.
She explained: “A lot of my personal life and the things that I like to do and my hobby is food. Finding new restaurants, doing a challenge where I can’t go to the same restaurant again for six months, finding food festivals. I love a supper club, it is a true, very important thing to me.
“It’s like when you’re tired and working hard, you go to this fast food and this fast food restaurant and you compare the burgers, so I’m 30 pounds heavier and it’ll come off one day but not today.”
What’s more, Tyra – who has four-year-old son York with ex-partner Erik Asla – tends to order the same meal from two different restaurants to compare them with her family for dinner.
She added: “I do it with my son, I do it with my man, we line it up and then we score the different restaurants with the same item,” she explained. “What happens is, the next time you order, you know where to order from because one of them is always nasty.”

Anna Wintour’s doctor son is ‘quite ill and self-quarantining’

OHMYGOSSIP — Anna Wintour’s doctor son Charles Shaffer is “quite ill and self-quarantining at home” away from his family after treating coronavirus patients.
The US Vogue editor is very proud of her 35-year-old son for being part of the fight against COVID-19 and insists he will return to the Intensive Care Unit once he has recovered.
Wintour, 70, shared the news about her son as she opened up about her own coronavirus lockdown experience in a video for A Common Thread – a new fundraising initiative for the fashion industry set up by executives at Vogue and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) to help struggling designers and fashion businesses.
She said: “My son is a doctor. He is currently quite ill and self-quarantining at home, away from his wife and his two small daughters. But when he is able, he will return to the ICU at his local hospital. I am so proud of him and so grateful to all the health workers, first responders, nurses and doctors, who are fighting to reduce the spread of the virus and to save lives.”
Wintour also explained the motivation behind the A Common Thread initiative insisting it is so important to help designers survive the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic, which has resulted in stores being closed and fashion events cancelled all over the glove.
She said: “The fashion industry has been hit hard. I have been speaking to so many American designers and others in the community who fear that they won’t make their payroll or have had their orders returned, stores closed, who fear that their businesses and their livelihoods may not survive what we’re going through. The fund we’ve created is intended to help them and the talented people they work with.”

Cindy Crawford was told to remove her beauty mark

OHMYGOSSIP — Cindy Crawford was told to remove her famous beauty mark.
The 54-year-old supermodel began her modelling career in high school, but was told she would need to remove her trademark mole above her lip if she wanted to become a model.
In an interview with Naomi Campbell for her limited series ‘No Filter with Naomi’, Cindy explained: “I did a British Vogue cover, I think with David Bailey, before I did an American Vogue cover and on the British Vogue cover they retouched it out. So there is a cover of me out there with no mole.
“When I went to my first modelling agency … it was in Chicago. It was a tiny little agency, I don’t even remember the name of it. They said I should remove it and my mother was like, ‘Ok, you can do that but you don’t know what the scar will look like. You know what your beauty mark looks like.'”
Instead, Cindy decided to keep her mole but many publications tried to cover it up with makeup or edit it out of their photographs as it was seen as an imperfection.
She explained: “So, I started modelling a little bit and in Chicago some people tried to cover it up. It’s not flat, you can’t cover up my mole otherwise it looks like a gigantic pimple. Chicago seemed fine but when I worked in Japan, sometimes they would retouch it off.”
Naomi then asked how she felt about having her face retouched, and Cindy said: “I didn’t really – as a kid I hated having a beauty mark. My sister’s called it an ugly mark. I feel like we always want what we don’t have. Like girls with curly hair want straight hair, girls with straight hair always want curly hair.”
However, when she posed for American Vogue, the photographers decided to keep her photographs untouched, creating her trademark spot.
She continued: “When I did my first American Vogue cover with Richard Avedon and Polly Melon, I didn’t know if they would leave it on or not, and then they did and I think once it was on the cover of American Vogue then it wasn’t an issue anymore.”
Now, Cindy sees her beauty mark as a way to help women feel comfortable in their own skin.
She added: “Many women have beauty marks and when they saw me on the cover of Vogue or in a magazine with my beauty mark it made them feel more comfortable with their own beauty mark.”

Jennifer Lopez: ‘Not installing a home gym was an oversight’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Lopez says not installing a home gym was an “oversight”.
The 50-year-old star and her fiancé Alex Rodriguez are currently staying in their Miami mansion during the Covid-19 pandemic but Jennifer admitted she regrets not putting in a home gym after the coronavirus led to the closures of non-essential businesses.
Speaking to her pal Reese Witherspoon on Reese’s new Instagram Live series, ‘Shine on at Home’, Jennifer said: “You know, my big struggle is how to work out because we don’t have a gym here at the house, which was a huge oversight. So, it’s about where I can go running that’s not, like, really populated or going to a private gym that’s closed that Alex has used when he was playing baseball.
“I’m just trying to find places to do my workout because it really keeps my mind right. It really makes me calm, and it quells all the thoughts that you’re having. It really keeps me happy, and that’s important right now. The fitness part of it.”
Alex, 44, previously insisted he and Jennifer “never miss a workout” as the loved up pair are both keen to stay fit and healthy.
Basketball star Alex – whose nickname is A-Rod – showed off their workout on Instagram and wrote: “Crazy schedules means crazy hours, but we never miss a workout. It’s the best way to de-stress.) Here’s the upper body workout @jlo and I crushed late last night. #NoExcuses. (sic)”
And Alex said he had been inspired by how athletic she is.
He previously said: “Jennifer is an incredible athlete. She’s a former star athlete going back to junior high [and] high school. And we both just love the fitness space, we like to work out. We work out together, we workout apart. Yeah, she’s great.”

Naomi Campbell self-quarantining in Elizabeth Taylor’s old clothes

OHMYGOSSIP — Naomi Campbell has been self-quarantining in Elizabeth Taylor’s old clothes.
The 49-year-old supermodel revealed she has been mostly wearing casual clothing around the house during the Covid-19 pandemic, but at night she changes into beautiful caftans which she bought at auction and previously belonged to the late Hollywood actress Taylor.
Naomi told InStyle: “I’m in the most practical clothes I could ever wear — T-shirts, sweats. It’s Adidas, it’s workout clothes, and the shoes are sneakers and slippers. Then at night, to give a little change, I wear caftans. I’ve got some really great ones. I’ve got some I bought from Elizabeth Taylor’s auctions, so I have some of hers. I’ve got one from the Middle East. I’ve got some beautiful ones from Africa. I’m just chilled. I’m not counting days. I can’t. It’s just … this is what we’re in.”
Naomi’s new show ‘Making the Cut’ is now airing on Amazon Prime and the star revealed she wanted to take part in the design competition because she wanted to give a platform to “young, gifted designers”.
She said: “It’s giving hope and opportunities to many. There are many people out there who are probably going to look at it and say, ‘I could be on the next one,’ and that’s what it’s about. We want those people, worldwide. There are some amazing young, gifted designers out there who just don’t have the platform, or are able to get the connections that they need to get out there. This show gives that opportunity.
“I’m not looking for perfection, because they’re there to learn. I’m just looking for whether they’re trying to improve themselves. I want to make sure they’re incorporating what we’ve asked of them with each challenge, and to be mindful that they’ve got a great platform, Amazon, to be able to take advantage of.
“A lot of designers I work with, if they had that platform from the outset of their career– oh my God. It’s a big reach. So, you want to know that they have the potential and understanding to think globally and fulfill that reach. Is it going to be understood on every continent? Is everybody going to understand this designer language or interpretation? Those are the things I’m thinking about.”

Hedi Slimane can’t style fashion show without the right music

OHMYGOSSIP — Hedi Slimane says he can’t style a fashion show without the right music.
Celine’s artistic, creative and image director – who previously worked as creative director for Dior Homme and Saint Laurent – admitted that he relies heavily on music to perfect his shows and will change everything for the right sound.
Hedi, 51, told British Vogue: “Without getting the music right, I cannot style the show, which can be very frustrating. The soundtrack and cast are what define the styling, its degree of credibility, its authenticity. What you hear and what you see are all part of one thing, one world as a whole.
“In a way, I almost illustrate the sound, just like in a film or a music video. Sometimes it’s really hard and I only get the right track a week before the show, and the entire direction of the show shifts accordingly.”
And Hedi is also proud that he can help emerging artists to receive a bigger platform, by featuring their music in his work.
He said: “This is the whole point for me. To use my position to promote, to give a visible stage to alternative music, or artists. I’ve been doing this for almost 20 years.
“Today, mainstream culture, promoted by social-media algorithms that favour numbers, leaves no chance for alternative voices. Sadly, the press does not make the effort to validate anything obscure. If I can do it through fashion or photography, I am happy to commit and help as much as I can.”

The US Vogue editor – whose doctor son Charles Shaffer is “quite ill and self-quarantining at home” away from his family after treating coronavirus patients – shared her appreciation for those in the fashion industry helping others who are struggling at this time.
Writing on Vogue.com, Anna said: “I have been so moved by acts of philanthropy in the fashion community in particular, and, of course, by the many donors large and small who have supported A Common Thread, the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund we’ve created to help American designers in this challenging time. If you haven’t yet watched the testimonials these designers have been sending to Vogue, I urge you to. Listening to these incredible talents talk without pretense about what they’re going through is a profoundly emotional experience. It reminds you that our fashion community is exactly that – a community of people, who need our help as never before.”
During the pandemic, Anna has been working on A Common Thread, a new fundraising initiative for the fashion industry set up by executives at Vogue and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) to help struggling designers and fashion businesses.

Jimmy Choo’s shoe sketch competition

OHMYGOSSIP — Jimmy Choo is inviting fans to take part in a shoe sketch competition.
Sandra Choi, the creative director of the famous brand, has announced details of the #CHOOSKETCH initiative, asking fans who are self-quarantining during the Covid-19 pandemic to design their own fantasy footwear, with the possibility of having their sketches developed into a capsule collection for charity.
Sandra uploaded a sketch of a spring-themed stiletto to social media and wrote: “Introducing #CHOOSKETCH: sketch your fantasy shoe and your design could be part of a capsule collection sold for charity.
“It’s important to try to keep a positive mindset during these challenging times. The world is fighting something invisible to the eye that can be mentally and emotionally draining. For me, nature has always provided much needed escapism, watching the world continue to flourish as our usual way of life is interrupted has been enlightening. Mother Nature continues on in its own rhythm; spring is just starting and the blossom trees in my garden are providing a much needed light at the end of the tunnel.
“Never more have we needed to look to things that help our minds keep calm and stay positive. For my first #CHOOSKETCH I have created a fantasy shoe that takes inspiration from the pure beauty of blossom, contrasting against an infinite blue sky backlit with rays of golden sunlight. Our lives are on pause but nature continues to weave her magic, that helps to fuel my optimism.”
Those taking part need to submit their shoe design to the label’s website by May 15. The Jimmy Choo team will whittle the entries down to 10 and ask their Instagram followers to vote for their top five.
Along with having their designs created and sold for charity, the winning designer will also receive a pair of their own footwear to keep.
Speaking about her inspiration for the competition, Choi said: “I wanted to share my love of sketching with the Jimmy Choo community in the hope it will provide a moment of escape whilst we are all united by the challenges we are currently facing together. To put an idea together on paper is second nature to me. Sketching is part of my creative process as I sort through multiple ideas but more than that it can also act as a form of escape for me. It helps to soothe, calm and focus my head.”

Katie Piper had to ‘learn’ how to do her makeup again after acid attack

OHMYGOSSIP — Katie Piper had to “learn” how to do her makeup again after her acid attack.
The 36-year-old television presenter and model suffered severe scarring and was blinded in one eye after an attack with the corrosive substance in 2008 but she has always been a huge fan of makeup and has re-learned how to apply it to suit her skin best now.
She said: “I’ve always loved makeup. I did a beauty course after leaving school, and I still enjoy face masks, exfoliations, and peels. I’ve had to learn to use primers better because of the scarring, and it’s difficult to make up one eye because of being blind in the other.”
And Katie recalled how she kept dyeing her hair after the attack and it was “the only way” she could express herself.
She added: “After the attack, the only way I could express myself was by constantly changing my hair, because I couldn’t move my face. It was a way to reinvent myself and leave the past behind, to stop people referring to the past because that girl had gone … You know why I now hate bright blonde? Because it attracts so much attention. Out on the street men see me from the back with a good body and blonde hair, and they whistle and call, and if I turn they insult me.”
Katie feels she has an “unshakable confidence” now despite what she went through.
She told Harper’s Bazaar: “In the early days, people always asked me, ‘What now?’ I didn’t fit in. I remember thinking, ‘Well, if I must accept that I have permanently changed, then it’s the industry I must now change.’ At times I struggle to relate to women my age, as I’ve experienced so much pain, joy, and euphoria in these short 36 years. But it’s given me an unshakable confidence, the knowledge that whatever happens in life I have the ability to recover from it.”
