Liya Kebede has been watching cartoons amid coronavirus lockdown

OHMYGOSSIP — Liya Kebede has been watching cartoons in bed amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The 42-year-old model has been self-isolating in France for the last two months, and she’s found new ways of passing the time during the lockdown, saying watching cartoons has made her feel like a “little girl again”.
She shared: “As much as I tried to have a daily routine of meditation and yoga, after the first few weeks I couldn’t keep it up.
“So I started watching cartoons in bed in the morning. I have always loved all the Japanese anime. I started watching and then re-watching Hayao Miyazaki cartoons like ‘Howl’s Moving Castle’ and ‘Princess Mononoke’.
“It has made me feel like I’m a little girl again. I love how wild his imagination is, and how gentle all his messages are, too. Especially on days that are rainy or cloudy, it brings a sliver of sunshine into my room.”
Despite being separated from her family, Liya has been in frequent contact with them amid the lockdown.
And the model is “grateful” that they’ve been able to stay connected during the health crisis.
She told The Cut: “At the beginning, one of the things that occupied a lot of my time was making FaceTime and Zoom calls to my Lemlem team and my family members.
“Given that we are all isolated in different cities and countries – I am in France, my mother is in Ethiopia, and my brothers are scattered across the US – I am so grateful that we have this mode of video communication available to us.
“We all went into lockdown at different times, so we would swap stories literally for hours. Never in my life have I talked as much on the phone as I have in these past two months.
“Something about calling loved ones has changed during this time. We’ve slowed down a lot, taking more time to have deeper conversations with genuine concern about how everyone is doing. Calls have stopped being just for quick messages and sound bites.”

Gigi Hadid: Make-up is a beautiful tool

OHMYGOSSIP — Gigi Hadid thinks make-up is a “beautiful tool”.
The 25-year-old model – who is expecting her first child with Zayn Malik – has insisted she prefers to rely on make-up to embellish her natural features, rather than turning to surgery or fillers.
She shared: “For special occasions, you can sculpt your nose a little bit or do whatever with make-up.
“Make-up is such a beautiful tool to help you feel your best for special moments, but to also accept your beautiful face for exactly how God made it and your mama and dada.”
Gigi also revealed that the thought of having fillers actually “terrifies” her.
She said on Instagram Live: “I’ve never injected anything into my face. I’m so happy for everyone to do whatever they want that makes them happy and makes them feel more comfortable and good about themselves. Me personally, it terrifies me.
“I feel like I’m too much of a control freak that I’m like, what if it goes wrong?”
Meanwhile, Gigi previously revealed she feels a “big guilt” over her privileged upbringing.
The model explained: “I know I come from privilege, so when I started there was this big guilt of privilege, obviously. I’ve always had this big work ethic, because my parents came from nothing and I worked hard to honour them.
“There are so many girls who come [from] all over the world and work their a**es off and send money home to their families like my mother did, and I wanted to stand next to them backstage and for them to look at me and respect me and to know that it’s never about me trying to overshadow or take their place.
“So when I started out I wanted to prove myself so badly that sometimes I would overwork myself.”

Tracee Ellis Ross’ mother Diana Ross inspired her to always look ‘extremely glamorous’

OHMYGOSSIP — Tracee Ellis Ross’ mother Diana Ross inspired her to always dress “extremely” glamorously – even at home.
The 47-year-old actress – who is the child of the ‘I’m Coming Out’ hitmaker and her ex-husband, Robert Ellis Silberstein – has admitted she will never be seen in tracksuits and casual attire because her parent always looked “fancy” on stage or chilling at home.
She said: “My mum [Diana Ross] was extremely glamorous at home, not just on the stage.
“That’s probably why I never go out in full sweats.
“During my childhood, she would only wear tracksuits if they were fancy and with high heels.”
The ‘High Note’ star says that her famous mom also inspired her “obsession with coordinating” with the two-piece leather sets she used to rock.
Speaking to ELLE, Tracee shared: “She had coordinating sets of North Beach Leathers trousers and oversized bomber jackets in every colour, from powder blue to yellow.
“I can see her influence in my obsession with coordinating: I can’t stand having my toes and fingernails painted different colours, my shoes must match my belt and my knickers must match my bra.”
Elsewhere, the ‘Black-ish’ actress admitted that her hair is her “greatest form of expression” and that her locks “chronicle” her “journey to self-acceptance”.
She explained: “It’s my greatest form of expression.
“Sometimes it’s big, sometimes it’s small, sometimes elegant, gravity-defying, electric … I don’t think there’s anything as chic as a slicked-back bun, but when my hair is loose, it has a mind of its own.”

André Leon Talley’s relationship with Anna Wintour is ‘in an iceberg’

OHMYGOSSIP — André Leon Talley admits his relationship with Vogue’s Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour “is in an iceberg”.
The former Editor-At-Large at the fashion bible’s new memoir, ‘The Chiffon Trenches’, is a “love letter” to Anna, according to André, even though he claims the 70-year-old journalist is “not capable of simple human kindness”.
And in a new interview about his book, André has addressed his controversial comments in the tome and admitted Anna will be “hurt” when she reads it.
Speaking to Gayle King on ‘CBS This Morning’, he confessed: “I think my relationship is in an iceberg with her.
“I hope that it will not be that forever.”
The host asked him: “I looked at that André and I went, ‘Love letter?’ If that’s your idea of a love letter I’m thinking I don’t want you to like me at all.
“How do you explain that? I thought this must be very painful for her to read. Seriously.”
And he replied: “Indeed, it is probably very hard for her to read.
“It was painful for me to write this.”
André, also 70, insisted that it’s a “love letter” because he spent many joyous times with Anna and he has her to thank for becoming the first black man in such a prestigious role at the publication.
He continued: “But it is a love letter because it’s a love letter about the joys as well as the lows of my life.
“And the joys of my life have been with Anna Wintour.
“I owe to her the pioneering role that I had of a creative director of Vogue.
“I was the first black man to ever be named such. I owe that to Anna Wintour. I owe her much. And I think, in turn, I think she owes me.”
Quizzed on what Anna owes him, he responded: “She owes me kindness and simple grace and being decent when things go south.”
The writer went on to slam Anna for going behind his back when he was ditched from his regular job conducting interviews on the Met Gala red carpet in 2018.
He said: “I understand changes are made in a corporate institution at Vogue.
“When she decides that I’m no longer working on the carpet for the Met Gala, just call me and say ‘André we’re moving in a new direction, you’ve been wonderful, I love what you’re doing, but now we’re going with the young influencers who know nothing because they have 20 million followers on YouTube.’
“Just say it to me. No one had come to say to me why I was taken off the red carpet.”

‘He never took it off’: Paul Mescal insisted on wearing Connell’s chain at all times during filming

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Mescal insisted on wearing his character’s ‘Normal People’ chain throughout filming.
The 24-year-old actor portrays Connell Waldron in the TV adaptation of Sally Rooney’s novel, alongside Daisy Edger-Jones as Marianne Sheridan, and Paul loved his character’s chain so much that he wore it constantly during the shoot.
Costume designer Lorna Mugan told Vogue.co.uk: “Daisy and Paul both love clothes, so Paul probably got a little bit cheated in that sense. He insisted on wearing the chain from the novel, and he never took it off during filming.”
Connell’s chain has become a huge hit with viewers and even has its own Instagram account, with almost 140,000 followers.
And Paul admitted he is baffled by people’s love for the accessory.
He recently said: “It’s slightly terrifying. I’d be slightly embarrassed if the chain account took over my follower count.
“But it’s probably going to happen at some time so I better just reconcile that fact. The chain will always be more popular than I am.
“I think it’s just so funny because it’s a chain. I’m not going to abuse anybody who thinks chains are sexy but I wore chains and necklaces before I definitely didn’t get the attention that this chain is getting.
“So, hopefully, we’re doing a good thing for chains all around the world and we’ll see them getting the correct respect they deserve. We’ve been sleeping on chains for far too long in my opinion.”
Paul gave the chain to Daisy as a gift after filming ended and she recently shared a picture of it to her Instagram account after fans were worried it had gone missing.
Daisy wrote: “I can confirm Connell’s chain is safe and sound along with Marianne’s ring.”

Michelle Mone used to binge on two McDonalds a day

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Mone used to gorge on two McDonalds a day.
The 48-year-old lingerie tycoon – who has slimmed down to a svelte size 10 after losing eight stone – revealed that at one time she would stuff herself with two servings of McDonalds fast food a day before eating her dinner.
Speaking to New! magazine, Michelle said: “I used to go to McDonald’s two or three times a day.
“It made me depressed and almost cost me my life. You could not pay me a million pounds to go into McDonald’s now.
“I abused myself for many years. It’s an illness and it got me into a very bad state.”
And Michelle – who has lost a further 11lbs in 11 months ahead of her upcoming wedding to Doug Barrowman, 54 – credited model Rachel Hunter with helping her to change her lifestyle.
The former Ultimo boss told The Daily Express newspaper: “I was on the beach in Miami with our supermodels. When I owned Ultimo, I sold it five years ago now. I was so down and so depressed.
“Rachel Hunter said to me, ‘Why don’t you treat your body like a business?’ So I think that was the first part of the journey for me.
“Then [my weight] was up and down due to my divorce. And then, the business, it gives you stress every day.
“So when I came off this wagon, I would just binge. But now, I would say in the last 18 months I’ve really got my mind sorted. I know what to do.”

Normani ‘obsessed’ with Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty

OHMYGOSSIP — Normani is “obsessed” with Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty.
The 23-year-old singer is the first-ever brand ambassador for Rihanna’s lingerie brand and she is a huge admirer of Rihanna’s style.
Normani told Harper’s Bazaar US: “I’m obsessed with my SavageX. Rih really did her thing.”
The star also revealed her love of vintage clothing and confessed she adores hand-me downs from her family members.
She explained: “I get extremely excited anytime the women in my life pass anything down. I’m such a fan of all the vintage clothing that they had from the ’90s; the fashion from that time truly gives me a broader perspective on that era, especially because it’s also an era I really appreciate musically. I came across a vintage baby blue bustier in my godmother’s closet recently that really gave me a glimpse of who she was before my time. I love tapping into their energy and using clothing as an escape.”
Meanwhile, Rihanna previously described Normani as the “perfect choice” to showcase her sensual lingerie sets.
In a statement, Rihanna said: “Normani is the perfect choice for a Savage X ambassador. She exudes confidence and power. Everything she does is executed with passion and the belief she’s going to kill it. That’s why people gravitate towards her.”
And Normani said: “Savage X celebrates and empowers women of all shapes, sizes, and colours. I am so grateful for this opportunity and excited for what’s to come with my new Savage X family.”
Normani also revealed that Rihanna personally contacted her to ask if she would be the face of her brand.
She said: “She is somebody I’ve looked up to for a very, very long time. I just love how it gives everybody the opportunity to feel sexy and beautiful and empowered – which is everything that I stand for as well. I thought it would be the perfect partnership.”

Holly Hagan’s plastic surgery regrets

OHMYGOSSIP — Holly Hagan regrets her cosmetic surgery.
The 27-year-old ‘Geordie Shore’ star admitted she turned to plastic surgery because she suffered from low self-esteem about her body but claims that the cosmetic procedures only made her feel worse about herself.
Speaking in an Instagram Q&A with fans, Holly explained: “Surgery made my body image 1000 x worse. I went in with the expectations that I was going to finally be happy and have the perfect body after.
“Not only have I ended up heavier than I’ve ever been after two months, but I was twice as wide too. I looked awful and it was upsetting.
“I had so much guilt and shame that I spent so much money and looked worse than before.
“Having surgery doesn’t change your lifestyle or your diet or your exercise routine. If all of those factors stay the same the majority of people will end up looking worse than before. Build your booty in the gym (when we’re allowed) with heavy weights and consistency. Otherwise you’ll end up with a saggy flabby ass with 0 muscle tone like mine (sic).”
Holly has had a number of cosmetic procedures including lip fillers, Botox injections, breast operations, jaw fillers, nose fillers and a non-surgical bum lift and admitted she drastically changed her looks due to insecurity.
She said: “I found it really hard.
“Throughout the early years of GShore I was always told I wasn’t a “worldie” and it sticks in my head the boys constantly looking out for ‘worldie’ girls. They would describe them and they’d be the opposite to me.
“I spent so many years just desperate to be classed as one for the approval of boys. It’s so sad that I based my worth off that.”
While the star insists she doesn’t regret her boob jobs, she does believe she was too young when she had her first one at 18.
She said: I don’t regret this however I was extremely young (18) when I first had them done. I specifically said ‘put the biggest you can possibly fit’. I had them placed over music and within a year they had dropped and my nipples were basically pointing to the floor. This led to me having another TWO surgeries.
“Eventually I had a breast reduction and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done. However, because of the multiple surgeries I am scarred. I wish I’d got them like this in the first place but I was young and stupid. You live and learn (sic).”

Jessica Ennis-Hill doesn’t discuss weight in front of kids

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessica Ennis-Hill doesn’t discuss weight in front of her children.
The 34-year-old athlete revealed that she and her husband Andy Hill are careful about what they say in front of their kids – Reggie, five and Olivia, two – because they don’t want them to grow up with a negative body image.
Jessica explained to Vogue.co.uk: “The way my husband and I talk about food and how we view our bodies is so important. Your parents are your world when children are young, and they absorb everything we do and say. It’s so important that we are creating a positive body image environment for them.
“I don’t weigh myself in front of my children. We don’t talk about being fat or wanting to lose weight. It’s about wanting to exercise to feel good and the positives of it rather than the negatives.”
Jessica also encouraged people to be kind to themselves during the Covid-19 pandemic and advised taking small steps on their fitness journeys.
She said: “People are often too unrealistic about what they are trying to set themselves to achieve. Inevitably, a lot of people go too hard too quick, fail, [their] motivation drops, and they just walk away. You have to be really measured and realistic in how you approach goals. Try and do little bits of exercise as often as you can, and make fitness work around you. Fit in small bits of 10-15 minutes training, to remind your body of what it can do. I think people take on too much too soon. Take small steps at a time. I will exercise, but I’ll still have a glass of wine on a Friday. Start with one thing – that way you are more likely to succeed at it.”

Chrissy Teigen bought designer handbag so she could use store’s toilet

OHMYGOSSIP — Chrissy Teigen once bought a Celine bag just so she could use a department store toilet.
The 34-year-old model and TV presenter admitted she made the pricey purchase at Barney’s because she didn’t want to feel guilty about using the restroom.
A fan told Chrissy on Twitter: “One time I saw you at barneys and you bought a Celine bag so you wouldn’t feel guilty about asking to use the bathroom. I knew I loved you before but that solidified it (sic).”
Chrissy replied: “Wowowowow anyone that knows me knows this is very true all too often.”
A friend jumped in and reminded Chrissy of the time the star bought a staggering five wedding dresses because she felt bad about trying them on and not purchasing.
The pal wrote: “Sort of like that time you bought like 5 wedding dresses you knew you would never actually wear because you felt guilty about ‘just trying on dresses’ which is precisely the point of TRYING ON wedding dresses I love you (sic).”
Chrissy replied, saying: “THOSE WENT TO GREAT HOMES (sic).”
This comes after Chrissy recently told “rich” celebrities not to ask for freebies from her.
The ‘Lip Sync Battle’ star is unimpressed by the number of requests she’s had from famous faces for PR boxes from her Cravings by Chrissy Teigen range – which are typically given out to influential people to promote the products – when she knows they could easily afford to buy the collection themselves.
She wrote on her Instagram Story: “Please don’t ask for a box. My marketing budget is not infinite but my love for you is. Also I see some of u asking and you’re literally rich (sic)”
The beauty – who has children Luna, four, and Miles, two, with husband John Legend – reassured her fans her message wasn’t directed towards them and she’ll be doing “a ton of” giveaways for them.
She wrote: “[That note was] honestly just meant for my friends that are literally writing, saying, ‘Uh mine hasn’t gotten here yet.’ That’s ’cause I didn’t send it to you. Just kidding…kind of.”
