Katherine Langford’s lockdown skin care routine

OHMYGOSSIP — Katherine Langford wants to “give back” to her skin in lockdown.
The ’13 Reasons Why’ star feels it is important to take this time off – owing to the coronavirus pandemic – to look after her skin and use it to give her a “focus” on her own routine.
Asked what skin type she has, she said: “I think it changes. When I was younger, I actually dealt with chronic acne, and I travel a lot. It can sometimes be dry or sensitive. As a rule of thumb, I always try to use products that are kind to skin across the board. Especially because I travel, I am focused on giving back to my skin, if it’s hydration or any extra care … I’ve been really focusing on skin care. As an actor, I wear makeup quite a lot of the time, so when I do have off days, it’s nice just to focus on skin care. One thing I found I really love is the L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Derm Intensives Hyaluronic Acid Serum. I really have loved incorporating it into my skin care routine for hydration.”
And Katherine says her beauty staples are mascara and moisturiser, particularly when she’s off work.
She shared: “I think it’s important to always have a good moisturiser. When I’m not working, I usually don’t wear makeup or, if I do, it’s quite little. But one thing that I think always makes such a statement is mascara. That’s always such a key product that I have with me and something that I keep restocking.”
The 24-year-old actress is also enjoying “exploring” fun things when it comes to her beauty routine in lockdown.
She told Allure magazine: “It’s given me time to explore fun things – or just explore different products, which I usually wouldn’t do if I was on the run or working.”

Rihanna shows off new lipstick

OHMYGOSSIP — Rihanna has been showing off her beauty secrets, with a tutorial for her new lipstick.
The Fenty Beauty founder showed off the Slip Shine Sheer Shiny Lipstick in a new YouTube video.
In the clip, Rihanna said the idea of the new product was to replicate their best lip glosses and Gloss Bombs in a handy lipstick formula.
She said: “If we could have like the best lip glosses and Gloss Bombs and we just froze all of those shades into a lipstick, that’s what I wanted. This is our Slip Shine Sheer Shiny Lipstick. It has such a smooth easy application and it feels really comfortable and cushiony on top of your lips.”
And Rihanna also showed off the Goji Gang colour, a beautiful mauve which reminds her of Goji berries.
Of the product, she shared: “It’s alive, it’s there, it’s present. It’s not too strong but it’s really sheer. Sometimes I have to create this look with two different products between a lip liner and a lip gloss but sometimes you just want easy lipstick to wear where it’s not one colour or the other. Looks a little glossy but it has a little more pigment than a usual lip gloss and that is what this is for me.”
Meanwhile, Rihanna previously showed off some new products in a new makeup tutorial video.
In one clip, Rihanna can be seen using her new Cheeks Out cream blushes and cream bronzers, which have names including Drama Cla$$, Fuego Flush, Crush on Cupid and Daiquiri Dip.
The Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Blush promises “instant blessings” of a “fresh-faced flush” that is “impossible to overdo”.

Margaret Qualley’s Chanel bag makes her feel cool

OHMYGOSSIP — Margaret Qualley’s Chanel bag makes her feel cool.
The 25-year-old actress is the new face of the Chanel 19 handbag and says the accessory always makes her feel amazing.
Margaret told British Vogue: “I like how casual it is, you know? It’s special, but in an easy way. I feel slightly cooler when I wear it. When I grow up I hope to be as cool as the Chanel 19 bag.”
The bag campaign was photographed by Steven Meisel and directed by Sofia Coppola and Margaret said it was inspired by 90s fashion.
She explained: “Sofia really wanted the shoot to feel playful – a kind of nostalgia for those ’90s advertisements where women are smiling and laughing. You maybe don’t see that as often anymore because there’s this fixation on being cool and not caring. But I care so much about everything, and I’m really not cool, so it worked in my favour. She really encouraged me to be goofy.”
And Margaret was also full of praise for Virginie Viard, Karl Lagerfeld’s successor at Chanel.
She said: “Virginie… she really is remarkable. Everything she makes feels very classic – but never forced, just effortless and natural. Yet, at the same time, she’s kind of rock and roll and cool.”

‘Of course it’s race based’: Naomi Campbell talks bias in fashion

OHMYGOSSIP — Naomi Campbell says bias in fashion is race based.
The 50-year-old model admitted she “never expected” things to come easy to her and said she has always had to work “extra hard” to get ahead in the industry.
Speaking to The New York Times, she said: “Of course, it is race based. But I never expected things to come to me easy.
“I knew I had to work extra hard, and when I think about it now, I’m grateful to have had a lot of strong women in my family showing me how to stay strong physically and mentally if you want to survive and strive. I’ve always been raised, by my mother, my nana, the wonderful strong women in my family, from this strong ancestry to understand that, whatever I was going to do, I had to do it 110 per cent.”
However, Naomi admitted that she often felt underappreciated in the fashion world and believed she was treated differently to her counterparts.
She explained: “It’s adaptation. Back in the day, I would say: ‘Why am I doing this if I’m not getting treated the same as my counterparts? Why am I not earning the same money?’ Luckily, I had wonderful people like Bethann [Hardison – one of the first high profile black models] that I would call, and she would explain to me why it would be beneficial to go forward and do it and we’ll see the results in the long run.
“If I thought things were unjust, I had to say something. This is to do with me. I am talking about, my career. The point is to try to make the best of the situation you’re dealing with. I don’t look at it as surviving. I look at it as life.”

Andre Leon Talley praises Gucci and Prada

OHMYGOSSIP — André Leon Talley has praised Gucci and Prada for their diversity initiatives.
The former US Vogue editor-at-large says there is still a great deal of work to be done in the fashion industry but he has been impressed with how Gucci and Prada are leading the way with initiatives for Black members of the fashion world.
He told US Harper’s Bazaar: “Global brands including Gucci and Prada have set up initiatives for Black members of the industry to advise them. Gucci was one of the first to have this advisory board that started, I think, about a year ago, which meets regularly to discuss things that are important to the roles of Black talent in the fashion industry. That’s very, very significant.”
André has mentored many up-and-coming designers and he praised his own former mentors for inspiring him.
He explained: “I have to give credit to my former mentors, the editors Diana Vreeland and Carrie Donovan. I had great role models. You just simply nurture through conversation or special opportunities, and encourage them to never give up. For example, I first read about LaQuan Smith in a New York Times piece that described how he was living in his grandmother’s house in Queens and making patterns from newspapers. I remember thinking, this person has got something.
“I went to his first show and I was blown away. It was stunning. Stunning in its relevancy and its currency. By the time he had the second or third show, I had Serena Williams walking in it! She was in town for the US Open and I said to her, ‘You’ve got to come with me and be in LaQuan Smith’s show’. She never had a fitting for the dress she wore, but she closed the show.
“LaQuan Smith is so extraordinary that I simply gave him £1600 of my own money. One day I went and said to him, ‘Take this check and use it to go to Paris. Paris is the mecca of style and fashion, and just seeing how light falls on the buildings there will inspire you. You don’t have to go to Paris to do a certain thing. I’m not saying you must go to Paris and try to go in and see a designer or get a job.’ I said, ‘Just go there for a couple days. Go sit down and have a cup of hot chocolate, have a croissant, have a café in a restaurant in the open air.’ And he did. I saw him recently before the Covid came. I went to the studio in Queens, and he’s still doing great work. He is extraordinary. He is self-made, and it’s extraordinary.”

‘It was horrible’: Curtis Pritchard opens up about being fat-shamed

OHMYGOSSIP — Curtis Pritchard has revealed his devastation at being “fat shamed”.
The 24-year-old professional dancer says jibes about his post-‘Love Island’ weight gain left him feeling down but eight months after becoming an ambassador for WW [Weight Watchers Reimagined] and taking control of his health, he feels “like a totally different person”.
Curtis said: “AJ [Curtis’ brother] would never call me ‘fat’ or make jokes about that. Sometimes in the past, he might have nudged me and said, ‘Do you really need to eat that?’, but that’s about it.
“AJ knows how hurt I felt when I was fat shamed. It was horrible at the time and shouldn’t happen to people. But now, after eight months with WW, I feel like a totally different person mentally, physically and emotionally.”
Curtis also spoke about how he felt at being “bigger” than his co-stars on ‘Love Island’.
He explained: “You need to feel you look good as a performer and I’ve always been aware that I can be fractionally bigger than other dancers. I was definitely bigger than the guys on ‘Love Island’ who were gym freaks – all respect to them!”
During the Covid-19 lockdown, Curtis has been keeping his weight loss on track by joining the WW Live Virtual Workshops and he says hearing from others who are going through the same journey as him has been inspiring.
He said: “Hearing other people’s inspiring stories and getting their tips and advice is brilliant. WW is all about community and supporting one another – so important in these times anyway – and there was such a strong sense of that in the workshop.”
Curtis’ comments come after new research commissioned by WW revealed that half of Brits admitted to overeating, exercising less and becoming more anxious during lockdown.
Among the findings, it was revealed that 42 per cent of people claim to have put on weight, 46 per cent claimed to be less active and almost 25 per cent say that they have developed a more negative self-image.
Anna Hill, SVP, General Manager at WW UK said: “The past few months have been challenging for everybody and we’ve had to deal with a lot of stress and a lack of structure in our schedules, which has had a huge impact on the nation’s health and wellbeing and we were really concerned about some of the findings of this research.
“However, we’re really reassured to see that many people want to prioritise their health and fitness, especially at a time when it’s more important than ever before. People are reappraising their lives and are more aware now of what they need to do for themselves to be healthy.
“At WW, our focus has always been to support our members in looking after their health and wellbeing and we’re committed to helping people stay healthy and well during these challenging times and beyond. We’ve seen a big demand for our digital app, as it does exactly that, helps people eat well, gets them inspired to be active, and to stay connected to others for support and guidance.”

Phillip Schofield reveals why he stopped dying his hair

OHMYGOSSIP — Phillip Schofield stopped dying his hair because he “got bored and it was expensive”.
The 58-year-old TV presenter – who went grey at 16 and is affectionately referred to as the silver fox – interrupted a discussion on ‘Good Morning Britain’ about hair dye to reveal why he finally decided to stop colouring his hair.
Host Ben Shephard asked him: “You dyed it for a long time – so why did you stop?” and Phillip replied: ” I got bored and it was expensive!”
Ben replied: “Quite right too! I don’t think people should be made to feel vain for making themselves look good.”
Richard Blackwood, who was taking part in the debate, then chimed in and said: “But that’s up to the individual, I don’t know why we keep saying vain as if it’s a negative – it isn’t!
“Vanity is when you are concerned about your looks and you want to change your image. you’re trying to look younger or more appealing, is that not a form of vanity?
“There are two types of people who go to the gym, those who want to do it for their fitness and others who want to look good.
“We’re using the term vain in a derogatory term and it’s not…”
Jake Quickenden added: “I’ve [dyed my hair] and I’m not afraid to say I’ve done it, we live in a world now that we need to make ourselves happy.
“We don’t need to feel vain by doing our hair, it’s like going to the gym. I’m 31 and I get a few little [grey hairs], I dye my hair pink and have had highlights so I don’t think that’s vain.”

Madison Beer blasts trolls over plastic surgery accusations

OHMYGOSSIP — Madison Beer has lashed out at trolls who accused her of getting plastic surgery.
After the 21-year-old star was photographed outside a doctor’s office, where she had gotten a consultation about mole removal, some Twitter users accused her of getting plastic surgery but Madison hit back in a scathing post.
She wrote: “i was there for a consultation to get a mole removed. (which i shouldn’t even need to clarify cuz it’s my business) i wasn’t “hiding.” i was waiting for my car & walked out normally. but these pics go ignored. i’ve gotten death threats bc of this situation. see the issue?
“anyyyywaayyys. i’m gonna continue to focus on my music, my fans and the people who know and support me. that’s it. i jus hope one day we can end bullying together because it’s f**ked up. thx! bye (sic).”
And Madison also urged people to “stop being so hateful towards strangers”.
She said: “bandwagon hate and mass bullying is something i’m not okay with. sorry. bullying has been an issue that has led to suicide and depression for so many for years and years and still people do not care to change. focus on your own lives and stop being so hateful towards strangers (sic).”
Meanwhile, back in April, Madison documented her mental health struggles in her single ‘Stained Glass’.
The star opened up about the “scrutiny” she has faced in her life on the track, which calls for everyone to “be more gentle and not judge so hard”.
In a statement, for the song – which is accompanied with artwork of her in a ripped bodysuit – she shared: “I wrote ‘Stained Glass’ at a time where I was really struggling mentally.
“This song was my message, not only to the public, but to those around me, to be more gentle on people and not judge them so hard, because you never know what someone’s been through.
“People sometimes assume that I’m OK, when I’m not; people don’t really see the parts of me that are the ugly, sad or depressed, they only see the sides they want to see, or the sides I feel comfortable to show because of the scrutiny that I’ve been under in my life.
“The stones lyric in the chorus refer to the traditional metaphor for people’s words and the lyric saying ‘I just might break’ is where I have finally shown my vulnerability in its absolute form.”

Amandla Stenberg prefers wearing wigs on screen

OHMYGOSSIP — Amandla Stenberg prefers wearing wigs on screen.
The 21-year-old star of ‘The Eddy’ revealed she has received some helpful advice from her fellow actors over the years, including wearing wigs or weaves for roles rather than destroying her own hair.
She told UK Vogue: “The wisest actors that I’ve talked to have all been proponents of wearing wigs or weaves for projects just because as an actor you will destroy your hair trying to get it to look like whatever character you’re playing.”
Amandla also revealed that she has become more relaxed about make-up and no longer feels she needs it to hide flaws.
She explained: “As I’ve gotten older, my relationship with make-up has shifted and depending on how I’m feeling in my body, how often I’m wearing it for work. [Now] it feels way less about covering up flaws or insecurities around myself, but more about having fun.”
Meanwhile, Amandla also revealed she shaved her eyebrows because of a TikTok trend.
She explained: “I just did that thing that everyone is doing now where I shaved off the end of my eyebrows because of g*****n TikTok so I have a different eyebrow shape than usual. But honestly… I’m absolutely loving it.”

Emily Atack’s accidental weight loss

OHMYGOSSIP — Emily Atack has accidentally lost weight in quarantine.
The 30-year-old actress says a combination of not being able to go to the pub and doing workouts at home for her mental health have helped her to drop weight while in lockdown amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
She explained to MailOnline: “I think because I haven’t been able to the pubs I’m healthier. I’ve been working out a lot in my garden, which I’m very lucky to have.
“I’ve lost a lot of weight by accident really. It wasn’t my goal to lose weight but I think it’s down to not going to pubs and restaurants. I work out more so for my mental health, the goal is never to lose weight but to remain as happy and healthy as I can be.
“I’ve definitely been boozing in lockdown like everyone but I’ve been conscious to not drink too much.”
Meanwhile, back in March, Emily revealed she was the happiest she had ever been as she had finally learned to embrace her curves.
She said: “My whole life I have been called fat. Even when I was two stone lighter, I was always the curvier one.
“The first time I was on ‘The Inbetweeners’ people started talking about my weight. People weren’t used to seeing someone with a bit of shape. It was a bit different.
“As I’m getting older it’s about being healthy and happy. I am the biggest I’ve ever been – but I am the most successful I’ve ever been.”

Zoe Kravitz’s embarrassing style choices

OHMYGOSSIP — Zoe Kravitz is embarrassed by her past style choices.
The 31-year-old actress admitted she was recently left cringing when a pal sent her some old pictures of them where it looks like they got “dressed in the dark”.
She told Variety’s ‘Big Ticket’ podcast: “Oh man, one of my best friends the other day started sending me all these old photos from 2005. It really sent me into this crazy spiral because I thought we looked really cool at the time, and looking at these photos, I was just like, ‘Dude, what? What?’ My friend said, ‘I think we were playing a game where we would get dressed in the dark with no mirror. And then anytime we caught our reflection anywhere, we would take a shot.’ It just looked so messy.”
Meanwhile, Zoe – has experimented with a number of different styles over the years – recently revealed she prefers to keep her hair natural.
She said: “The struggle’s always been real for me and my hair. The options can seem limited when you have a kinkier texture. I really prefer my hair being natural.”
Hairstylist Nikki Nelms – who has worked with Zoe since 2013 – said Zoe was becoming more confident about experimenting with her natural look.
She said: “She’s super open to change and not that attached to anything. She’s open to length or cutting it, darkening or bleaching. When you’re open, you can experience more.”
Zoe also revealed she tries to adopt the natural approach when it comes to make-up too.
The YSL Beauty brand ambassador said: “It shouldn’t be something you use to cover up. And I feel like YSL Beauty isn’t asking me to cover myself up or be something I’m not. Make-up should highlight your individuality.
“Their foundations are great, Touche Éclat is like 24 hours of sleep in a pen that you can put in your pocket. You just have to learn what works for you, and learn what doesn’t.”

Cara Santana’s empowering clothing line

OHMYGOSSIP — Cara Santana wants to empower women with her new clothing line.
The 34-year-old actress has partnered with Reunited Clothing to launch her affordable, inclusive fashion brand and Cara admitted she was inspired by the “micro-aggressions” women deal with every day.
She told Forbes: “The campaign was inspired by the versatility of identities women embody, all of us multifaceted and unique. Each piece of the collection was named by taking commonly used micro-aggressions women hear and making them our own, as opposed to allowing them to define us. As a woman I chose to define myself and I want to empower all women to do the same.”
Cara is also hoping to take her activism even further.
She said: “I’ve long had the idea to take a group of women in my life that I look up to and sit down and have a conversation about what it is to be female, what it is to be a woman of colour, what it is to be a mother, and a wife, and a business woman in the profession of fashion, beauty and entertainment.
“I feel like the first step of change is really having those conversations, and for other women to see that they’re not alone, so that they can feel empowered. I am so fortunate to know so many amazing truly incredible women and I get so much out of the women in my life, I know everyone would as well.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Gwyneth Paltrow’s goop at sea cruise has been cancelled.

The maiden voyage was due to set sail from Barcelona on August 26 but will now take place in 2021 instead.
However, Celebrity Cruises announced the postponement in a statement, saying: “Given ongoing global public health circumstances, Celebrity Cruises has decided to extend the suspension of most sailings through until mid-September.

Kelly Ripa wearing beach cover-ups

OHMYGOSSIP — Kelly Ripa has been wearing “beach cover-ups” to cover her night clothes whilst filming her talk show from home.
The ‘Live! With Kelly and Ryan’ host has been broadcasting the programme from her home amidst the coronavirus pandemic and she has opened up about her new outfit choices as a result of it.
Speaking on the US talk show, she said: “I’m wearing a literal beach cover-up as clothes now. I just slip that over my nightgown. That’s what I’m doing.”
Meanwhile, Kelly previously admitted she needs a haircut “desperately” as she feels it is too “risky” to cut her own locks off at home.
She said: “I need a haircut desperately. I’ve been trimming it myself with kitchen scissors but I really want to lop it off. I want to give myself a bob, but the scissors are just too dull. It’s too risky, it’s just too risky.”
Kelly has been without a lot of her clothes, hair product and makeup because it has been left in the studio, which is closed amidst the lockdown.
She added: “I keep putting on my daughter’s self-tanner, thinking that will help. All of my clothes, all of my hair products, and all of my makeup is locked in the studio, which is closed because of everything that is going on.”
Kelly has also been suffering with some “quarantine anxiety” in her household recently.
She said: “We’ve had some quarantine anxiety in our house lately, but I think it’s stemming more from my end of things because I realise that my firstborn child is graduating from college in a couple of days and it’s definitely not what we expected. There’s going to be an online – I’m not sure how it’s going to work – but there’s going to be an online ceremony of some kind.”

Tracee Ellis Ross: My haircare company fills a ‘real void’

OHMYGOSSIP — Tracee Ellis Ross thinks her haircare company fills a “real void” in the industry.
The ‘Black-ish’ star launched her own hair products under the brand Pattern Beauty, and whilst it started out as a personal project for her, she soon realised many other women would benefit from these products.
She said: “I feel like I was persistent for 10 years for a reason. The dream started as a personal desire to have products that worked for me that could all look the same in the bathroom … I was like, is there one line that could just look pretty in here? So it started as personal; just really wanting and genuinely looking for products that were not only good for my hair but also made it look great. And then, as my journey continued, as I’ve expressed so many times, realising that it wasn’t just me that was looking for that. There was a real void out there – there was a gap in the aisles and how the aisles were presented and all that kind of stuff. So I think my persistence – I’m really grateful that it resulted in people receiving it the way it was intended. I don’t know that I was surprised but really grateful and mostly excited that people think the products work.”
And Tracee wants to “continue expanding” her range to support the community through not only haircare but skincare and the “wholeness of beauty”.
She told The Glow Up: “I will say for now my dream would be to continue expanding and growing the beauty realm; the wholeness of beauty, whether it’s skincare, haircare. There are so many more areas to go in the area of hair – many of which are already in process … My company is growing now and there are so many priorities, and to continue growing is one of them.”
