Paris Hilton confirms new designs for clothing line

OHMYGOSSIP — Paris Hilton is working on “new designs” for her clothing line.
The 39-year-old socialite and businesswoman has released several fashion collections in the past – including multiple collaborations with online retailers boohoo – and she has now revealed she’s working on releasing a new range of clothes and accessories, featuring jewellery, shoes, handbags, and sunglasses.
Speaking about her upcoming endeavours, she said: “I’m working on my new fragrances, my 26th and 27th fragrances that are nearly here. I’m working on my albums, coming out with new designs for my clothing line – jewellery, and shoes, and handbags, and sunglasses – I have new products coming out for those all the time as well.”
Paris is known for her sense of fashion, and has said her all-time favourite look was the iconic Julien Macdonald chainmail dress she wore for her 21st birthday.
Recalling the outfit, she explained: “My favourite item is my 21st birthday dress that Julien Macdonald designed. It’s such an iconic dress that so many people recreated and I think if I was a dress, I would be that dress, which is sparkly and beautiful.”
The look was recreated a few years ago when Kendall Jenner imitated the dress for her own 21st birthday, and Paris “loved” seeing the style come back to life.
She added: “I loved it. [When] she walked in the room and I saw the dress, I immediately recognised it. I was like ‘Oh my god, that’s the same dress I wore on my 21st birthday.’ It made me happy, I love seeing all of my different looks recreated by people or seen on the runway, or Instagram, which makes me proud that people love what I wear.”
However, Paris will be hoping no-one tries to recreate a specific look she wore to the Sundance Film Festival in 2001, as she marked the “pink tutu gown” as her biggest fashion fail.
Speaking to Vogue, she said: “I got this dress from Patricia Fields. It was like a black bustier with a giant pink tutu gown – it was too drastic. I wore it with moon boots because it was snowing and I couldn’t wear my heels, and it was freezing so I had to wear this beanie.”

Camila Mendes: ‘Make-up is a form of self-expression’

OHMYGOSSIP — Camila Mendes sees make-up as a “form of self-expression”.
The ‘Riverdale’ actress – who was recently named one of Urban Decay’s newest ‘Global Citizens’ – has been experimenting with make-up since her teenage years and loves to try out new products.
She told Elle Australia: “I started experimenting with make-up in Junior High from watching my older sister do her make-up before school every day. I fell in love with it as a form of self-expression – it’s inherently playful and exciting. Applying make-up can be such an indulgent experience of self-discovery, and I love the whole process of feeling out my mood and assessing the look I want to achieve in that moment.
“I’m definitely an eye [make-up] person – playing with eyeshadow is so entertaining. You get to experiment with multiple shades at once and see how beautifully they can all blend together.”
And Camila, 26, revealed she is proud of her association with Urban Decay as she admires the brand’s dedication to the Black Lives Matter movement.
She said: “Urban Decay has pledged to employ more Black models, creatives, and photographers and has donated to Black Lives Matter and Black Visions Collective. As an Urban Decay Global Citizen, I will help ensure the accountability of this pledge through their actions and mine. Beauty comes in all shapes and colours, and it’s imperative that we see that reflected in the beauty industry. It’s important to support brands that actively do the work to be inclusive.”

Balmain to launch fashion week boat

OHMYGOSSIP — Balmain will celebrate the opening of Paris’ digital fashion week by sending a fashion boat down the River Seine on Sunday (05.07.20) evening.
The French fashion house will mark both fashion week – for haute couture and the men’s collections – and the easing of Covid-19 lockdown restrictions in the capital city by launching a barge, nicknamed Balmain’s Sur Seine, featuring musical performances and a fashion exhibit.
Creative director Olivier Rousteing said in a statement: “I think every one of us will forever remember this past spring as being a dark one, marked by strange new fears and mandatory isolation. Even for those lucky enough to only have had to deal with Zoom frustrations and cabin fever, the recent confinement made very clear just how much we had taken for granted until that moment. Forced apart, we suddenly realised that we depended on being together.
“Balmain is all about optimism, and after this period I wanted to bring back this optimism that this brand has been known for.”
To mark the 75th anniversary of the French fashion house, models will also wear pieces from Balmain’s archive – including creations from Pierre Balmain, Erik Mortensen and Oscar de la Renta -while the show will feature a performance from French singer Yseult.
Social distancing will be enforced on the boat and members of the public will be able to watch from the river bank.
The show will also be featured on TikTok.

Miranda Kerr’s crystal obsession

OHMYGOSSIP — Miranda Kerr is obsessed with crystals.
The 37-year-old model and KORA Organics founder has revealed that she is a big believer in the power of crystals and has loved them ever since she was a little girl.
She told Vogue Paris: “I’ve been obsessed with crystals since I was a little girl, since my grandfather would bring big geode crystals home for my grandmother. I was about 13 when I actually realised that crystals have a benefit to them, it’s not just that they’re pretty.”
Miranda also spoke about the importance of skincare and confessed that she sometimes gets a bit too heavy-handed with blush when she is putting on her make-up.
She said: “The basis of great make-up is actually great skincare. For those of you who know me, you might think I overdo my blush. But I really like that look, like I’ve just, you know, been for a run or gotten a little excited.”
Meanwhile, Miranda previously revealed she often keeps a rose quartz crystal in her bra to encourage self-love.
She said: “Rose quartz, I really notice the difference when I’m holding it. I keep one in my handbag. I have a small heart-shaped one I put in my bra. It’s known to encourage love (like self-love) in your life and open the heart chakra. It’s supposed to have healing and protecting powers.
“It’s a tiny little one in the shape of a heart. It’s been buffed a little. One day I was carrying it and then, I thought I really should just put it on my bra on my left side, near my heart. And that felt good.”

Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright launching fashion brand

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright are launching a new fashion brand.
The superstar couple, both 33, recently filed paperwork with Companies House to launch Mysa Ventures, which has listed its business as “retail sale of clothing in specialised stores”, according to The Sun Online.
Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that Michelle has earned more than £4 million since leaving ‘Coronation Street’.
The former cobbles star – who earned £60,000 a year when she played Tina McIntyre from 2008 until her exit in 2014 – has raked in an average of £700,000 a year since her exit.
Accounts from her company Rosia Promotions Ltd revealed the actress made £500,000 in both 2015 and 2016, and this doubled to £1 million in each of the following two years.
In 2019, Michelle earned £1.2 million, meaning her average over the five years is more than 11 times her ‘Corrie’ salary.
Since leaving the ITV soap, the ‘Our Girl’ star has explored other roles, while modelling for the likes of Lipsy and Very, and promoting beauty products for Ambre Solaire.
An insider told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “It was a massive decision to leave Britain’s most popular show but she knew she could make far more cash away from ‘Coronation Street’.
“She had to turn down a number of lucrative deals while she was on ‘Corrie’ because soap stars aren’t allowed to advertise.
“Now she is free to plug what she wants – and she is getting some good acting work, too.”

Gwyneth Paltrow’s sleep troubles

OHMYGOSSIP — Gwyneth Paltrow has been “sleeping terribly” lately.
The 47-year-old actress and goop founder admitted that fears about the Covid-19 pandemic along with working from home and caring for her kids – Apple, 16 and Moses, 14 – has led to her “absorbing a lot of change and stress” which is affecting her sleeping pattern.
During a chat on goop with digital influencer and entrepreneur Chriselle Lim, Gwyneth said: “Are you sleeping well? Because I have been sleeping terribly! And I’m usually such a good sleeper, so I’m just wondering.
“Just as energetic beings, we’re absorbing a lot of change and stress. These times call us to really bring our best selves forward, while processing and taking care of ourselves and our kids.”
However, Gwyneth has started having a bath every night and uses that time to wind down from a stressful day.
She explained: “I think it’s about finding those things that get us back in our bodies and kind of taking care of ourselves a little bit, especially at night, because we regenerate so much through sleep. I’ve always been a big bath person, but this bath – it’s called The Martini – has become even more critical over the last few months.
“It really brings you back down. It’s this amazing combination of salts and essential oils that we did with my acupuncturist, who is also an incredible herbologist – he’s such an amazing healer – Paul Kempisty. And so there is chia seed and passionflower and valerian root, and then there is wildcrafted frankincense and myrrh and all of these amazing things. It’s the most therapeutic bath. So that’s been my hack for trying to get a good night’s sleep. While I’m in the bath, I often exfoliate my face with the GOOPGLOW Microderm mask, and my other thing is I use this rose quartz roller – to me it’s like a massage that gets to all those crunchy bits in the jaw. I like to really get in there.”

Alexa Chung’s lockdown fashion

OHMYGOSSIP — Alexa Chung has been making an effort to get dressed every day in lockdown.
The 36-year-old presenter, model and designer is determined to keep up her fashion credentials during the Covid-19 pandemic and has been sorting through her clothes to get ready for when normal life resumes.
She told The Cut: “Every day I make an effort to get dressed. It’s keeping me sane. Before we went into lockdown, my brand ALEXACHUNG launched a capsule of essentials, so I’ve mostly been living in a navy-blue cardigan and jeans, and I just change the shirt out.
“I haven’t worn a pair of heels for a long time, but I’ve been arranging them in my attic so they’re ready to go when the time is right. My faves are a sparkly, strappy silver pair of Saint Laurent heels that I haven’t had the opportunity to wear yet but like to stare at.”
Alexa also admitted to some strange shopping habits during the pandemic.
She said: “I’ve also been making really weird shopping decisions. I bought some knitted hot pants from Zara and a far too large bucket of paint from Little Greene in Stone Pale Warm.”
And the star has been treating herself to some little luxuries to help her through lockdown.
She said: “I think it’s important for the house to smell nice currently because I’m basically locked in it at all time. It’s discontinued now, but I light a Byredo Altar candle, which smells like a fragrant church from olden times. I also love the Santal 26 candle by Le Labo. A girl at work bought one for me for my birthday, and they printed a little note on it, so when I light it I think of her and how nice she is.”

Naomi Campbell talks Pat McGrath collaboration

OHMYGOSSIP — Naomi Campbell says collaborating with Pat McGrath never feels like work.
The 50-year-old supermodel was recently announced as the first ever face of Pat McGrath Labs and Naomi insisted that she will always make time for the make-up artist because she enjoys working with her so much.
She told InStyle.com: “It never feels like work – never. Even if I’m flying all over the world and I come back home to New York and I’m exhausted. Normally, on weekends I don’t like to work, and she’d call me up and say, ‘Do you want to come and do a video?’ I’d do it because it’s fun.
“Whether I was Pat’s face or not, I would always support her. No matter what, I would support her. And we have to support each other now more than ever – all of us. The injustice that’s happening is sickening and disgusting, and we need to come forward in a peaceful way and nonviolent way to make sure justice is done.”
And Naomi insisted she always knew Pat would be a star in the make-up world, ever since they first worked together in the ’90s on a shoot for ID magazine.
She said: “From beginning to end, her personality was just infectious. [I was] drawn to her – her spirit. But her professionalism was incredible. She was like an encyclopedia – she studied our faces. She knew what she wanted to do. It was a lot of fun. And of course, I knew from that point on I’d probably never get to work with Pat again, because I could tell where she was going. It was very clear.”

Naomi Campbell wears make-up every day in lockdown

OHMYGOSSIP — Naomi Campbell still wears make-up every day in quarantine.
The 50-year-old supermodel refuses to let her beauty standards slip just because she is at home all the time due to the coronavirus pandemic and she ensures that she applies her favourite products to make herself feel her best, relying heavily on the range from Pat McGrath Labs.
In an interview with MarieClaire.com, Naomi – who was recently announced as the first ever face of Pat McGrath Labs – said: “Every day I wear a Pat McGrath lip gloss or lipstick. Even when I work out each day, I wear lipstick because it makes me feel good, and that’s what this is all about. In challenging times, women want to feel good even if they’re not leaving the house. Make-up is for your self-esteem and confidence.”
Naomi is also still following a rigorous daily skincare regime and says the secret to her glowing complexion is regular scrubs and facials.

Then, I put on lots of serums and a face mask. After I mask, I put on more serums and a moisturiser. With my skin, it all depends; on different days, I do different things. Some days I do glycolic acid peels or use my dermaroller.
“For self-care, I do scrubs, salt baths, and facials – I do a facial and put on a face mask every day. At night, I always wear a night cream sleeping mask. Most importantly, I like my skin to look hydrated and shiny.”

Stella McCartney launches 90-piece line made from leftover materials

OHMYGOSSIP — Stella McCartney has launched a limited edition clothing line made entirely from leftover materials.
The 48-year-old designer is well-known for her environmentally-conscious clothes, but it’s the first time she has put together pieces which are from waste from her previous collections.
There are 90 pieces in total and each item contains a note thanking the buyer for making the choice to buy a sustainable piece of clothing.
Stella said: “‘I think in order to have sustainability in fashion, you need to think in advance.
“You need to think about everything in a circular way and in its entirety and at the end of the day a lot of it is about waste, you know, ‘Waste not, want not, do unto the planet as you would have them do unto you’.
“We have to stop and consider the waste, it’s spiralled out of control.”
Sir Paul McCartney’s daughter’s new recycled line comes after she recently insisted there hasn’t been a more important time than now to “scream and shout” about sustainability.
She said: “Challenging and questioning things has been drilled into me since I was a kid.
“Over the years I have sat back, quietly working on my sustainability projects in the background. But now, more than ever, there is an urgency for change. If we have to scream and shout to achieve it, then we need to do that to drive action.”
Stella thinks the issue of sustainability is “a conversation that shouldn’t be saved for one day or week a year”.
She continued: “The world is crying out for change.
“The younger generation is telling us that our house is on fire and that we need to respond like we are in a crisis – because we are, in fact, in a crisis.”

Kanye West wants to produce a million Yeezys in Wyoming by 2021

OHMYGOSSIP — Kanye West is reportedly aiming to produce a million pairs of Yeezys in Wyoming by the start of 2021.
A rep for the ‘Wash Us in the Blood’ rapper also told Business of Fashion that his apparel production is to commence in the US “shortly after”.
The hip-hop legend has a huge presence in Wyoming already – having purchased a 4,000-acre property in Cody, Wyoming last autumn – and is hoping to create “design and prototyping jobs, with assembly line positions to follow.”
The news of Kanye’s plans for his popular footwear brand come after he signed a 10-year deal for a new clothing line with Gap.
The 43-year-old rapper will launch Yeezy Gap, a new apparel line for men, women and children, with the American retailer next year.
Kanye tweeted: “YEEZY AND GAP FORM PARTNERSHIP #WESTDAYEVER.”
Kanye’s wife Kim Kardashian West, wrote on Twitter: “If anyone knows Kanye they know how much the Gap and Yeezy means to him so this partnership is his dream come true! I am so proud of him. You guys are going to love what they have in store for everyone! #WestDayEver (sic).”
As a teen, Kanye worked in a Gap store in Chicago and Mark Breitbard, Global Head of Gap Brand, commented: “We are excited to welcome Kanye back to the Gap family as a creative visionary, building on the aesthetic and success of his Yeezy brand and together defining a next-level retail partnership.”
As per The New York Times newspaper, the deal is for 10 years with an option to renew after five.
The brand reportedly hopes that Yeezy Gap will be bringing in $1 billion in sales within five years and the company will pay royalties and potential equity to Yeezy based on sales performance.
Kanye previously spoke of his desire to be the “Steve Jobs of Gap” and admitted he couldn’t afford the clothes when he worked there.
He said: “It’s funny that I worked at the Gap in high school, because in my past 15 years it seems like that’s the place I stood in my creative path — to be the gap, the bridge.
“When I was working at the Gap at 15, I don’t think I had any desire to actually make clothes, but I always felt like that’s what I wanted to be around. I loved the fabrics, I loved the colours, I loved the proportions.
“Abercrombie was too expensive for me and the Gap was too expensive for me. Even though I worked at the Gap, I didn’t get enough hours to get a discount because I was a part-time employee, because I went to high school.”

The 24-year-old model has teamed up with the iconic British fashion house for their latest campaign and became a photographer for the day as she posed for a series of self-portraits to show off the new line at her Los Angeles home.
The lockdown shoot was directed by photographer Nick Knight, art director Peter Saville and stylist Katy England.
The collection was designed by Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer, Riccardo Tisci, who had a unique vision.
Kendall said: “Riccardo wanted to collaborate closely with me to bring this collection to life in a number of ways. He encouraged me to interpret the campaign myself, which was such an exciting opportunity. I loved being able to add my own personal touch.”

The collection and campaign are also completely my vibe — that relaxed summer spirit really resonates with me as a California girl.”
As per a press release, the campaign “captures a journey from reality to fantasy”.
For the campaign’s video, which uses CGI technology, the ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’s star transformed into the four distinctive characters via a capsule of both womenswear and menswear items from the collection.
