Lili Reinhart’s ‘very natural’ beauty regime

OHMYGOSSIP — Lili Reinhart has been keeping her beauty routine “very natural” amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The ‘Riverdale’ star is currently staying at home amid the global health crisis, and has said she’s been trying to keep her lockdown beauty routine as simple as possible, because she has “no reason to put makeup on” when she isn’t leaving the house.
Discussing her lockdown style, she said: “It’s been very natural. I try not to wear too much makeup in my daily life to begin with, but then when you don’t really leave the house, there’s no reason to put makeup on.”
If Lili does feel like putting on makeup, she keeps it minimalistic, and opts for items from the CoverGirl Clean Fresh collection, as she was named the face of the CoverGirl brand back in October 2019.
She told The Kit: “When I do wear makeup, I’ve been using my CoverGirl Clean Fresh collection. The line just really goes hand in hand with my philosophy on beauty which is clean, natural, glowy skin. I like when you can see your skin underneath the foundation, and it’s just doing a little colour correcting and adding a bit of a base to your face. That’s how I do my makeup. I’ve been using the CoverGirl Clean Fresh Hydrating Concealer. I have really dark under-eyes because I have fair skin and blue undertones there, and this concealer isn’t heavy and I can layer it.”
Meanwhile, Lili recently said she loves to “experiment” with makeup, whilst helping to launch the CoverGirl Clean Fresh collection.
She said in January: “I love to experiment with makeup, but people are getting in a bad habit of hiding their skin under layers and layers of product … I’ve learned you don’t have to over powder your face and letting your actual pores show is actually really beautiful in photos … I’m working with CoverGirl on this campaign to promote the idea that natural skin is beautiful … The Clean Fresh collection is what I stand for and how I wear my make up on a daily basis.”

Olivia Culpo: Never stop striving for your dreams

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Culpo has urged her fans to “never stop striving” for their goals, after she landed the cover of the 2020 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
The 28-year-old model was named as one of three models gracing the cover of the iconic publication this year alongside Kate Bock and Jasmine Sanders.
And after sharing a photo of a vision board she made four years ago which included her dream of bagging the coveted shoot, she told her followers to “remain focused and persistent” on their own goals.
She wrote on social media: “I was debating sharing this but figured if this huge milestone can mean something to someone else out there then it’s an even greater blessing for me.
“To anyone who sees this, never stop visualizing and striving for what you want. Don’t lose hope and remain focused and persistent. 4 years ago when I was pasting these images onto a poster board it was me sitting on the floor with my glue stick and scissors shooting for the stars and it felt completely unattainable.
“I just hope this can show anyone out there that their goals, big or small, really can come true and that you deserve it. Thank you to everyone who has helped me achieve this dream and to all the other dreamers, never give up (sic)”
Olivia also said the magazine cover “still doesn’t feel real”.
In a separate post, she shared: “WOW! I really am speechless and this still doesn’t feel real. I am so grateful for every experience I have been able to have with my @si_swimsuit family. (sic)”
However, shooting the iconic cover wasn’t was glamorous as it looks, as Olivia told Page Six her “knees were bleeding” after being knelt on rocks in the sea for hours at a time.
She said: “My knees were bleeding from the rocks, and I was being taken out by waves. We have to wake up at 4 am to get the right light, and we shoot until the sun goes down. You have to dedicate a lot of time, energy, and mental focus into what you want to happen.”

Alisha Boe: I didn’t feel beautiful growing up

OHMYGOSSIP — Alisha Boe didn’t feel “beautiful” growing up because she looked different from her friends.
The ’13 Reasons Why’ star moved to a “really white neighbourhood” in Los Angeles when she was seven, and has said living in an area where she was the only person of colour stopped her from feeling “comfortable” in her own skin.
She said: “[At aged seven], I moved to this really white neighbourhood [in Los Angeles] and identity for me was a very fickle thing. I don’t think I found my true identity or was comfortable in my true skin until I moved away from that neighbourhood.
“I didn’t have anyone to identify with. I didn’t feel like my hair was beautiful. I always wanted to straighten it because all my white friends had straight hair. And then I had to deal with the boys in my school and everyone making offhand racist remarks, where they’re like, ‘You’re pretty for a black girl.’ Then, of course, you start rationalising, like, ‘Oh, they don’t think people who are black are pretty, but I’m the exception because I have caucasian features.’ ”
Alisha, 23, eventually learned about the “beauty” of her culture as an African woman, and says discovering her worth has been a “constant learning experience”.
The actress – who was born in Norway to a Somali father and a Norwegian mother – added: “It was this whole process of unlearning so many things and then finding people who are similar to me and learning more about my culture as an African woman, learning about the beauty of it. If you’re a minority growing up in a place where nobody looks like you, there are so many cultural differences that you have to teach yourself, which is hard; it’s a constant learning experience.”
And now, Alisha says she’s pleased she can be a role model to other girls, as she didn’t have anyone to look up to when she was younger.
Speaking to British Vogue, she said: “The one thing that’s been very positive for me with ’13 Reasons Why’ is having young girls who have similar features to me DM me or send me letters or stop me in the street and express their gratitude for being able to see someone like me blended in this primarily white high school, and being seen as a cool girl or a popular girl or a pretty girl or a girl that’s not afraid to use her voice and voice her opinions.”

Jonathan Anderson: Fashion should ‘be a bit quiet’ for now

OHMYGOSSIP — Jonathan Anderson thinks fashion should “be a bit quiet” and focus on bigger problems, such as “diversity, equality, and the environment”.
The JW Anderson founder says the fashion industry often “jumps to the idea that we want a revolution”, but believes that in the wake of the Black Lives Matter protests and the ongoing climate crisis, the industry should be taking a back seat to allow important issues to be heard.
He said: “In fashion, we often jump to the idea that we want a revolution, but sometimes the smaller things are the revolution. There are many other problems that need to be tackled now: diversity, equality, environment.
“It’s a time for fashion to be a bit quiet, and work on what is the best method going forward. It doesn’t mean you have to reinvent the fashion calendar tomorrow. It might mean a longer process.”
Jonathan – who is also the creative director of LOEWE – also believes fashion brands shouldn’t be “competing” at the moment, as the coronavirus pandemic has caused every company to do “what is right for [their] brand”.
He added: “Because of the global situation, it’s a matter of doing what is right for your brand. It’s not about competing. No matter the group or brand, it’s a moment to be proud that you’ve been able to do a collection and show it, no matter the format. What the future will bring? Who knows? This is like working in real time. Yes, it’s about a collection that will come out in future, but it’s also about relishing the now.”
The pandemic has caused many fashion shows to be cancelled, and has seen brands instead take part in virtual runways to showcase their latest collections.
And whilst Jonathan believes virtual shows have been key to keeping fashion labels in business, he’d also like them to be “more personal”.
Speaking to British Vogue, he said: “At one point, this idea kicked off that shows were going to disappear, and it actually became the complete opposite. [Brands] became content machines.
“I don’t know. I’d like it to become more personal. In this moment, I can talk directly to consumers. It’s been empowering to hear about problems with product, or what people want, and work on social media methods to engage [with] everyone.”

Whitney Port makes fashion comeback with sustainable capsule

OHMYGOSSIP — Whitney Port is back in the fashion game after launching a new capsule collection for Rent the Runway.
‘The Hills: New Beginnings’ star had her own label Eve between 2009 and 2014, and now she’s made a comeback with the new sustainable Love, Whit capsule.
Whitney admitted she couldn’t wait to get back to designing, as that is when she feels “most me”.
She said: “It’s been six years now, and I’ve just been itching to do this again; when I’m designing, that’s when I feel the most me.”
The 19-piece collection – which is available to rent – is made from recycled material and sustainable cotton.
She continued: “Renting is a great way to be sustainably involved in fashion.”
As well as being eco-friendly, the pieces will help to raise funds for Until We Do It, a non-profit which is distributing 50 million face masks to those most at risk of catching Covid-19, such as the homeless and members of the BAME community.
As well as being sustainable, Whitney – who has two-year-old son Sonny with husband Tim Rosenman – wanted the clothes to be comfortable.
On what inspired the capsule, she added to Page Six Style: “As a multitasking mom, I gravitate toward pieces that can be easily mixed and matched, or one-piece dresses you can throw on.
“So there are really beautiful floral-printed dresses, great tops that can be tucked into jean shorts or jeans for easy dressing at home right now and a really great lightweight, comfortable suit you can wear together or as separates.
“There’s nothing body-con — that’s not my style. It’s all very flowy and loose and easy to wear. They’re pieces for the woman who maybe has felt a little bit of a loss of control now, and wants to bring some joy into her life and to feel elevated and put-together, but still really comfortable.”
Meanwhile, the 35-year-old star admitted she regrets the amount of times she had her undergarments on show whilst filming ‘The Hills’ between 2006 and 2010 and the reality show’s spin-off ‘The City’.
She confessed: “There’s so much I would do differently.
“I wore so many oversized tops and blouses with my bra showing; that’s just never acceptable! The amount of times my undergarments were showing while I was filming ‘The Hills’ and ‘The City’ was just so inappropriate. It’s so much fun to reminisce, though, and I try not to be too hard on myself about it.”

Tommy Hilfiger launches People’s Place program to get POC in fashion

OHMYGOSSIP — Tommy Hilfiger has launched a new platform to get people of colour and those from minority backgrounds working in the fashion industry.
The designer brand has announced the People’s Place program and has proposed to spend an initial $5 million per annum over the next three years.
The initiative is named after Hilfiger’s first store in his hometown of Elmira, New York, which opened its doors amid the counterculture period in the US in 1969.
Hilfiger has vowed to “do better” when it comes to representing POC.
Martijn Hagman, chief executive officer of Tommy Hilfiger Global and PVH Europe, said: “As a company, we haven’t done enough.
“But we are determined to do better. We are taking immediate action to ensure that BIPOC communities in the fashion industry feel represented, heard and equally welcome to their seat at the table. The People’s Place journey starts now with a dedicated internal governance structure that will drive and report regularly on the long-term objectives of the platform. This is a firm commitment and first step in a long journey for what the People’s Place Program can achieve.”
People’s Place is made up of three pillars: Partnerships, Career Access and Industry Leadership.
The aim is to inspire the industry as a whole to follow their lead in creating opportunities for minority groups, whilst continuing to analyse their practices to ensure they are doing everything in their power to maintain a “diverse representation” and do “what is right”.
Hilfiger recently spoke in support of the Black Lives Matter movement – which was sparked following the death of unarmed African American George Floyd in police custody – and called for immediate action.
And speaking on the program, he added: “What is happening to Black communities in the U.S. and around the world has no place in our society.
“The fact that it has continued to exist in our industry is unacceptable. We are far behind where we should be in achieving diverse representation. It shouldn’t have taken us this long to acknowledge that, but we are determined and committed to changing it going forward. We will be intentional, fearless and unwavering in the actions we take. Through the People’s Place Program, we will use our platform to create opportunities and stand up for what is right.”

Hailee Steinfeld learned to love her beauty marks

OHMYGOSSIP — Hailee Steinfeld has learned to love her beauty marks.
The ‘Starving’ singer has revealed the blemishes on her face would get Photoshopped for magazines and it made her feel like they were “ugly” – but she now embraces them.
She said: “I would see the photos and the beauty marks on my face would get taken out of the image. I would see myself without them and think. Oh god, they’re not beautiful. They’re ugly.
“Now, I’ve learned to love these marks even if someone else classifies them as imperfections or not beautiful.”
The 23-year-old pop star and actress insisted she is always reminding herself how “unique and special” she is.
She explained: “I tell myself that I am happy, to stand tall, and to smile. This makes me feel like I’m bringing out my best. You constantly have to remind yourself of how unique, beautiful, and special you are.”
Meanwhile, Hailee revealed her skin is “psychotically sensitive” so she keeps her skincare routine to a minimum, but one of her top products is the Noni Glow Sleeping Mask by KORA Organics.
She added to Women’s Health: “I feel like my skin is psychotically sensitive – so my beauty routine consists of very few products and products with natural ingredients. This is a super lightweight gel mask that leaves skin super glowy and smooth. When I saw this mask was a ‘sleeping mask,’ I was like no way, because if I put something on my skin for just four minutes it’s game over. I tried this and it’s actually my favourite thing in the world. I was literally receiving compliments on my skin over FaceTime – that’s when you know this stuff is working. ”
The ‘Bumblebee’ star recently insisted she “cares a lot” about her self-care and skincare routine and makes sure she uses natural products.
She said: “Working out five, six days a week. I find that it’s truly the only thing that keeps my mental health in check.
“And luckily, I have my dad, who is the best personal trainer in the game. Of course, I never go to sleep with makeup on my face; I make sure my skin routine is intact. That’s something that I care a lot about. I love using products that are natural, that have natural ingredients, that don’t have a lot of ingredients.”

James Bay hasn’t ‘ruled out’ a new hairstyle

OHMYGOSSIP — James Bay hasn’t ruled out switching up his hairstyle again.
The ‘Hold Back The River’ hitmaker chopped off his lengthy trademark tresses and ditched his signature fedora hat when he released his second album ‘Electric Light’ in 2018, and he admitted at the time that he loved the anonymity that came with his shorter style.
The ‘Chew On My Heart’ singer’s hair has gotten longer during the coronavirus lockdown and he has insisted he won’t be chopping off his locks again just to suit his fans.
Just like his idol, the late David Bowie, the 29-year-old star explained that he is bound to have a few different looks over the years.
He told NME.com: “It’s the funniest thing. Over the past week or so, in the spirit of remembering live music during this strange time, I’ve been posting some clips from a solo acoustic show I did to reminisce with fans. I posted one of me with an acoustic guitar and very short hair alongside a few more recent ones with my long, lockdown hair. Every other comment on these videos is: ‘Bring back the short haircut! I miss the short hair! Cut the hair!’ I can’t win! All my musical heroes have had hundreds of different haircuts over the years, like David Bowie. Don’t rule out another new hairstyle soon.”
Asked if it was a risk to lose his famous hairstyle, James – who has been giving fans guitar lessons on social media – said two years ago: “I started growing my hair at 11 or 12, so once I was 14 or 15, it was how it looked last year. So, I was all about getting my hair cut.
“Now I can walk the streets and people aren’t jumping on me, especially when I’m not touring the music, so it’s not a huge problem. But when your identity becomes so public, you want to change. You want to change when it’s the right time.
“Because it’d become something of a trademark for me, there’s always something scary about taking the leap, and going, ‘Okay, you had a thing that you were known for, along with the music. Now, you’re gonna throw that away.’ I would always have chosen to do this.”

Zadig and Voltaire collaborate with Benjamin Millepied’s LA Dance Project

OHMYGOSSIP — Zadig & Voltaire has collaborated with the LA Dance Project to raise awareness about mental health.
The ready-to-wear label has joined forces with LA Dance Project’s founder and artistic director Benjamin Millepied – who is married to Natalie Portman – for the latest round of the Art Is Hope campaign.
Millepied and his dancers and choreographers have created content, which will be showcased on Zadig & Voltaire’s social media channels, while the fashion label has designed two T-shirts for the project.
100 per cent of proceeds from the T-shirt sales will go to the LA Dance Project.
According to a statement on Zadig & Voltaire’s Instagram Stories: “LA Dance project was founded in 2012. LADP is a dance company comprised of 12 principal dancers that perform new choreography and historic reconstructions.
“The company’s repertory features multidisciplinary collaborations with visual artists, musicians, designers, filmmakers and composers.”
Benjamin told Z&V: “I think dance has greatly affected my mental health over my life. Dance as a child gave me freedom and independence. It was a private place to express my feelings. I could call it an act of survival as life at home wasn’t always easy. Dancing or making dances is my entire identity, I think dance saved me.”

Virgil Abloh’s promise to promote diversity in fashion

OHMYGOSSIP — Virgil Abloh says he “wasn’t distinct and loud enough” about diversity in fashion.
The Louis Vuitton Menswear designer has always tried to show the perspective of Black creatives through his work rather than talking about it but now believes that it is time to speak out more, amid the Black Lives Matter protests across the world.
He told British Vogue: “I’m not gonna go back to business as usual and pretend that the awakenings that we’re still in the midst of aren’t happening. I didn’t take it lightly before but I think that, because my voice wasn’t distinct and loud enough, it didn’t resonate. To me, it’s always existed in my work for those who look at my work… But, since so many people wanna know more: here. Caveat: it’s on my terms.”
Ahead of Louis Vuitton’s fashion week showcase, Virgil, 39, has announced a £795,000 scholarship fund and mentorship programme for Black college students.
He explained: “I’m going into fashion week saying, here’s a scholarship fund, which is more important than my own career. And that’s debuting at the same time as my next offering for Louis Vuitton, which is Black creatives.
“I looked at my path: how did I make it from where I started, which was hanging out with friends on the corner, going to parties, being into streetwear and making a T-shirt, to landing at the head of the house. This is forever, it’s not for 2020. It’s my commitment to fostering change and keeping the door open. I’m trying to speak to the 17-year-old version of myself.”
Speaking about taking to the runway after his fashion shows, he said: “It wasn’t me on the runway; it was the community. The only reason I come out there is so that kids will see what’s behind it. What’s amazing for me is that I don’t have to reprogramme. But my volume can go up.”

Kim Jones thrilled by Michael Jordan’s enthusiasm for Dior trainer collaboration

OHMYGOSSIP — Kim Jones was thrilled to get Michael Jordan’s approval for the Dior Air Jordans.
Dior Men’s artistic director Kim, 40, admitted the basketball star is a “massive influence on my generation” and said he was overwhelmed by Michael’s “enthusiasm for a product launched 35 years down the line”, the limited-edition Air Jordan 1 High OG Dior sneaker.
Speaking about meeting the 57-year-old basketball legend in Monaco and then Chicago, he told British Vogue: “It was nice to see. I was surprised he remembered who I was. He’s such an icon and a massive influence on my generation.”
The limited-edition trainers are highly coveted and Kim admitted he was worried about balancing the demand with keeping them exclusive.
He explained: “I’m a commercial designer and I like stuff to sell, so I want to make sure demand doesn’t create frustration. How limited do people want products to be to value them? People appreciate good design whatever it is. But nowadays they can do a lot of research. The Air Jordan, in particular, has a huge amount of work behind it to merit its worth.”
Kim’s close pal Travis Scott is the face of the new product and the designer explained: “He really loved the trainers, so it made sense for him to model them.”

Winnie Harlow: ‘There’s a lot of work to be done on diversity in fashion’

OHMYGOSSIP — Winnie Harlow says there is “a lot of work to be done in terms of diversity” within the fashion industry.
The 25-year-old model believes that all sections of the fashion world need to work together to “take accountability” to ensure that the industry is diverse and she hopes that discussions will continue in the future.
She told WWD: “There is a lot of work to be done in terms of representation and diversity within fashion from behind-the-scenes, to, of course, in front of the camera, from the CEO’s, to the designers, and all the way to entry-level whether it’s a new model or whoever is being hired. I also think that everyone in the fashion industry needs to take accountability so that real change can happen…
“Diversity is an everyday thing. It’s not a one-off thing or a trend. I’m hopeful that these discussions are currently being held. We just need to keep the dialogue going.”
Winnie also revealed she signed on to work with Puma on a new campaign after very open discussion about things they can do to help move forward this movement [of diversity]”.
Her first collaboration with the brand in June supported the Trayvon Martin Foundation’s STEM summer camp and she is excited about working with other causes “that really need support, especially during these times”.
She added: “They have always allowed their partners to get behind causes that are important to them. That was always really exciting and important to me.”
Meanwhile, Winnie admitted she has no idea how the Covid-19 pandemic will affect the fashion world going forward and she is waiting to see what happens with upcoming fashion weeks and collections.
She explained: “Every season everyone wants to do something new. With this new challenge put in front of us, everyone is still going to want to do something new. Not everyone is going to want to do the same thing. So we’ll just have to stay tuned until September.”

Louis Vuitton to go seasonless

OHMYGOSSIP — Louis Vuitton is switching to a seasonless, roving model for its menswear fashion shows.
The French fashion house will begin with new physical runway displays in Shanghai, China on August 6 and in Tokyo, Japan, at a later date and designer Virgil Abloh says he is excited about exploring the wider world with his collections.
He told WWD: “All the regions of the globe trigger different ideas when you place the epicentre there, and that to me is going deeper in the brain on inclusivity.
“It’s 2020. Let’s explore, debuting an idea in this hemisphere and next season we might say, ‘Hey, let’s go the complete opposite.’ Because we’re outside of this idea that Paris has to emanate, and then everyone has to come to Paris and then go back around the world.”
Michael Burke, chairman and chief executive officer of Louis Vuitton, explained that the Covid-19 pandemic has changed how the company will work in the future.
He explained: “We know people are not going to be able to travel, so let’s not have people travel to the venues – let’s have the clothes travel to the venues,”
“Until now, we were labouring under the same laws of the 19th century when Worth started the couture collections. You know, it had to start in Paris, and then it trickled down. Today, that is totally antiquated. With the Internet, everybody can see it simultaneously, so why does it have to be only in one city?
“It’s a lot more modern way of working because the Chinese team is going to find the venue, they’re going to co-design the event with Virgil, they’re going to produce it, the models are going to be all Chinese.”

Gwyneth Paltrow’s ‘magic’ candles

OHMYGOSSIP — Gwyneth Paltrow has been praised for challenging people’s ideas of candles and scents.
The 47-year-old actress and wellness guru has just released her latest risqué scented candle ‘This Smells Like My Orgasm’, following on from ‘This Smells Like My Vagina’ and Heretic founder Douglas Little, who works with Paltrow on her candles, loves how she constantly pushes the boundaries.
He told Gwyneth’s lifestyle website goop: “Her desire to boldly colour outside the lines helps us bring back an element of both magic and excitement to both worlds.
“Where Orgasm is vibrant, bright, and uplifting, Vagina is more deeply sensual, warm, and seductive. You kind of can’t have one without the other.”
Describing the candle – which retails for $75 – he said: “You experience all of it–the ripe cassis berries and the wet Turkish rose petals, and then that grounding gunpowder tea.”
Meanwhile, Gwyneth previously claimed she wanted to take the “shame” out of women’s private parts when she named her first candle.
She explained: “The idea [is] that women have been taught to have a certain amount of shame about their body. So, if you just light a candle that says ‘This Smells Like My Vagina’, and put it on the coffee table, it’s kind of a punk rock statement.”
And fans will want to get their hands on the new scent soon, as the first candle sold out twice, with celebrities such as Sir Elton John snapping up the product.
Little explained: “Elton John bought a ton of them. Like a lot. Like, a lot a lot. He’s a fan.
“We have been hounded and stalked by so many people [trying to get one]. I saw the candle being sold on eBay for a ridiculous price.”

Kate Moss’ work ethic praised

OHMYGOSSIP — Eli Mizrahi has praised Kate Moss’ work ethic.
The 46-year-old supermodel agreed to appear in the campaign for the Lebanese designer’s latest Mônot collection, which was shot in Al Ula in Saudi Arabia, and he revealed Kate was the first on set and the last to leave the photoshoot.
He told Vogue Arabia: “I didn’t have a million bucks for this campaign. But you never know until you try. I had my little army of supporters; Carine Roitfeld was on board, and I convinced the talent that they would look back on this moment – 24 hours in Al Ula – as something special. Kate Moss not only came, but she was the first one on set at 5am and the last to leave.”
Along with Kate, the campaign – which was shot by photographers Luigi and Iango – also features Mariacarla Boscono, Candice Swanepoel, Jourdan Dunn, Amber Valletta, Xiao Wen, and Alek Wek.
And despite featuring a number of famous faces in the campaign, Mizrahi admitted he doesn’t want his brand to be accessible to the masses.
He said: “Anyone with a good eye can make a beautiful dress. But that’s not going to get you far–there’s marketing and distribution, which I intend to limit as I don’t want Mônot accessible to everyone.
“For me, as a Lebanese, I grew up in Monaco, lived in New York and Ibiza – I don’t want to be in a box. I’m, a designer and I’m a risk taker, and I’m very happy.”
