Luke Evans’ fashion advice from boyfriend

OHMYGOSSIP — Luke Evans’ boyfriend gives him fashion advice.
The ‘Beauty and the Beast’ actor is loved up with creative director and set designer Rafa Olarr and while he loves his boyfriend’s style, Luke admitted the feeling is not always mutual.
He told WWD: “From the day we met, I’ve been so impressed by his talent as a set production designer, his aesthetic detail, his attention to detail. I mean, I can’t leave anything out in the house. And there’s certain clothes that he doesn’t like. It means he just has a way that he likes things. He has an incredible eye for detail and beauty and composition. I’m really proud of him and very impressed by his work.”
Meanwhile, Luke, 41, recently revealed he feels “inspired” by people who break down boundaries to wear whatever makes them happy, regardless of gender roles, and believes “masculinity” isn’t defined by “whether you have black or pink hair”.
When asked about men who break gender boundaries with fashion, he said: “I think it’s very cool, but it’s not new. Rock stars have been painting their fingernails black for ages; in the New Romantic era, men wore more make-up than women and had topped their hair even higher. When men do something like that, I think it’s great. It sends the message out into the world that masculinity does not depend on whether you have black or pink hair. […] You have this one life and this one chance to be yourself. If that means you want to wear a dress, do that. Who gives a s***?”
And the actor believes the item of clothing isn’t as important as “how” it is worn.
He added: “Whatever men and women wear is increasingly accepted, no matter what their sexuality or image is. That inspires me. Our culture allows that today. Masculinity does not depend on what you wear, but how you wear it. However you dress, that’s just a fact, but not a problem.”

‘That kind of surgery is very damaging to young women’: Lili Reinhart blasts cosmetic surgery

OHMYGOSSIP — Lili Reinhart has lashed out at those who get cosmetic surgery.
The ‘Riverdale’ actress admitted she is furious with people who “change the s*** out of their bodies to achieve a certain look that’s physically impossible” and doesn’t think it sets a good example to young fans.
She added to the Daily Mail newspaper’s columnist Baz Bamigboye: “That kind of surgery is very damaging to young women, who are looking online for inspiration. They go: ‘I want a body like that!’ But it’s not real. They have to pay to look like that.
“Some people are blessed with beautiful bodies. Good for you. But let’s not worship that.”
Meanwhile, Lili previously blamed photoshopping apps for causing people to develop “eating disorders”.
The 23-year-old actress hit out at apps that let users slim down their arms, stomach, and thighs in images before posting them to social media, as she believes they contribute to unrealistic beauty standards and cause vulnerable people to develop unhealthy obsessions with their weight.
Posting on her Instagram Story about a particular app called BodyTune, she said: “This is not okay. This is why people develop eating disorders. This is why social media has become hazardous to our health. This is why people have unrealistic expectations of their bodies.”
The actress then urged her followers not to use “these kinds of apps”, and slammed anyone who does use them as “adding to the problem”.
She added: “If you photoshop your body, you are adding to this problem. This is how unrealistic standards of human bodies have been created – to the point where people alter their bodies surgically to achieve unattainable results. We are better than this.”

Pop Smoke was a huge fan of Virgil Abloh and was keen to design his own clothes

OHMYGOSSIP — Pop Smoke was a huge fan of Virgil Abloh.
The late rapper worked with the Louis Vuitton menswear artistic director on his album cover and the music video for ‘Shake the Room’ and Smoke’s manager Steven Victor revealed he admired how far Virgil has progressed in his career.
He told WWD: “The artwork was such a sensitive subject. Pop had real respect and appreciation for Virgil for a number of reasons but, most importantly, he represents what Pop believed – that anything is possible. Virgil is the first art-director of African descent for Louis Vuitton – it’s incredible. In everything he did, Pop’s message was, and still is, that anything is possible and he wants kids all over the world to really believe that and to believe in themselves.”
Smoke, 20 – whose real name was Bashar Jackson – was murdered in Los Angeles in February and Victor revealed he had ambitions to create his own designs before he died.
He said: “I thought it was ambitious. I would take it in stride super early on and thought let’s focus on the music first and once you’re stable as an artist then let’s dabble. He would always talk about fashion. I thought he was just saying it because it was cool for rappers to say. Then over the months I saw he did have his own sense of style.”
Victor also explained that he is protective of Pop Smoke’s legacy.
He said: “There’s more dope stuff to put out, but we also want to be conscious of his legacy and that he’s not here. We have to do a lot to keep his legacy going. If he was here we would be selective so it’s a balance of that. Behave like he’s here and factor that in and be mindful of it.”

Kendall Jenner’s stylist releasing Missguided collection

OHMYGOSSIP — Kendall Jenner’s stylist is releasing her own Missguided collection.
Dani Michelle, who works as a stylist for celebrities including Kendall and her sister Kourtney Kardashian, Maren Morris, Shanina Shaik and Kristin Cavallari, has teamed up with the fashion retailer to help fans dress like their idols on a budget.
She told WWD: “While I do love exclusive pieces and luxury items, I certainly love mixing high and low, and I love things that are accessible and in reach.
“I really wanted to create my faves in this. I have been dressing different body types for so long that there are certain [elements] I know seem to work.”
The 43-piece collection will offer everything from cropped tops to faux leather joggers and Dani has promised to keep it affordable.
She told WWD: It’s for the cool, L.A. girl…the young girl building her career and life, still in school. They want to be able to buy something that’s exciting for them with their own money.”
And although the Covid-19 pandemic has directly affected the fashion industry, Dani insists that people will always care about what they wear.
She explained: “Sadly, I’m seeing brands and showrooms financially suffer, which has been really upsetting, and it definitely affects the way that we have accessibility for samples for clients. I just think we’re going to have to go back to the mentality where people are designing for must-have items in the closet or things that are really wearable or usable.
“I do think my job is safe. We all care about our appearance. Regardless if it’s 100 paparazzi on the red carpet or just one-on-one with our own cell phones [putting images] up on the Internet, I do think people will still care about fashion and be interested in the art of it and how they present themselves.”

Rachel Stevens collaborates with Low Cost Glasses

OHMYGOSSIP — Rachel Stevens has curated a new glasses collection.
The 42-year-old singer has collaborated with online retailer, Low Cost Glasses, on a new glasses and sunglasses Edit which includes classic tortoise shell rounds and rectangles, bolder cat eye shapes and on-trend translucents.
Rachel said: “I’ve worn glasses for five years and I love sunglasses too – especially large, statement frames with a dark tint. My personal style is classic, feminine and comfortable. I like to mix tailoring with more relaxed fabrics and I really think that your eyewear should be part of your outfit planning. Putting my Edit together has been great, as I’ve been able to experiment with more styles, shapes and colours than I normally would.”
Rachel encouraged her fans to use the retailer’s virtual-try-on and experiment with some new looks from the Edit, which is priced between £15 to £85.
She added: “It’s so easy to get into a routine of buying for the same shaped frames over and over. Being able to try on as many pairs as you like online means you can experiment with changing your whole look. There is something for everyone in my Edit and I love how all of the frames are really affordable, so you can have a bit more fun with your frames and treat yourself to few pairs to swap and change – just as you would with make-up or jewellery!
“You don’t need to leave home with virtual-try-on, so it’s a great chance to try as many pairs as you like and have some fun with your frames. As a general rule, opposites work well, so if you have a rounder face, then more angular frames look great, and vice versa. I also make sure I am wearing my make-up and experiment with different tops and jewellery, just so I can get a proper feel for how they look – you don’t quite get the same result with your hair scraped back wearing your trusty hoody!”
The Rachel Stevens x LCG Edit is available from Monday (27.07.20) at www.lowcostglasses.co.uk/TheEdit

Virgil Abloh collaborates with Mercedes-Benz on new artwork

OHMYGOSSIP — Virgil Abloh has collaborated with Mercedes-Benz on a new project.
The Louis Vuitton menswear designer has joined forces with Gorden Wagener, chief design officer at the German car manufacturer to design an artwork, called ‘Project Geländewagen’, inspired by the Mercedes-Benz G-Class.
Wagener told WWD: “Mercedes-Benz today is much more than a luxury carmaker, it is a design brand and luxury label. One major reason for our success story is our aesthetic soul and the unique style of our house. The next step in pushing Mercedes-Benz’s design is our collaboration with Virgil Abloh. We are set to create something unseen in both of our branches.”
Virgil called the project a “perfect chassis to interject modern artists’ ideas of what the future can be stylistically, within conceptual car design”.
The new project will be digitally revealed on September 8.
Bettina Fetzer, vice president of marketing at Mercedes-Benz, said: “We picked Virgil because he really brings his unique approach to that. If you have met him before, you know he can be very philosophical about what he’s doing and there’s this kind of substance behind him. There is this whole inspiration and then he translates it into a product. It was absolutely inspirational for us, we also think that with all the story that we’re going to be telling around this piece, we will be able to create a very emotional brand story to connect our different audiences.”
A home-scale replica of the artwork will be auctioned online after the launch, with proceeds going to charity.

Gucci’s Epilogue presentation reaches 35.2 million views globally

OHMYGOSSIP — Gucci’s Epilogue presentation was the brand’s most viewed digital event.
The Italian fashion house streamed a 12-hour event, including a presentation of the new collection, along with the release of a visual narrative feature, worldwide on gucci.com, YouTube, Twitter, Weibo, the Gucci app and on Gucci’s Facebook page, on July 17 and it reached more than 35.2 million views globally.
Marco Bizzarri, president and chief executive officer of Gucci, told WWD: “Even before Covid-19 we firmly believed in the blending of digital technology and the one-to-one human touch as a differentiating factor in the way we engage with the Gucci community. Technology and social media platforms aren’t simply tools; they represent a form of expression, a way to create meaning and open up our world, the world of Alessandro Michele’s imagination, to a global audience. This is even truer in the post-Covid-19 world and for Gucci we believe in this approach now more than ever.
“You have seen how in this spirit Alessandro has revealed in an entirely open, transparent and authentic way the process of fashion through his Epilogue to simply tell the world: this is who we are. This is our truth. Since Day One at Gucci I believed in ideas; blending digital and human emotion and creativity is and will remain our way at Gucci.”
Creative director Alessandro Michele renamed the Cruise collection to Epilogue as he moves his brand away from the traditional fashion calendar to showing just twice a year.
Speaking previously about how the Covid-19 pandemic has made him reevaluate how the Italian fashion house operates, he said: “We are a big brand, so we have a responsibility to take care of our industry. We need to give it the time that’s needed. The things we make have a longer life than what we have allotted to them in the past. We all agree that fall and spring are the most appropriate [time frames] to show our work, but I hope that other brands will follow us so we can have an open dialogue to arrange new dates.”

Joey King says filming plays havoc with her skin

OHMYGOSSIP — Joey King says filming plays havoc with her skin.
The ‘Kissing Booth’ actress tries to look after her skin as much as she can but admitted that new routines and products on set can affect her complexion.
She told Vogue.com: “I think the hardest thing for my skin is when I step on a new set and they start using products on me that I’m not used to.”
Joey, 20, also revealed that she loves make-up but sunscreen is her top beauty must-have.
She explained: “Sunscreen is so important to me. Whatever foundation you use, whatever works for you, either it needs to have SPF or you need to put it on yourself. I’ve always, always loved makeup since I was a little girl. I can’t shy away from a little sparkle.”
Meanwhile, Joey previously revealed that she became her “most confident” and “happy self” when she shaved her head.
The actress chopped off her brown locks after she was cast as Gypsy Rose Blanchard in the Hulu true-crime series ‘The Act’, and revealed that shaving her hair off was liberating because she used to “hide behind” her locks and was subsequently “forced to confront” herself without it.
She said: “I got rid of something that I usually hide behind, and that so many of us hide behind, and I was forced to confront myself and just be with myself with no hair.
“[Between that] and diving into such a complex character every day, I really just became my most confident and happy self.”
However, Joey admitted that her family and friends were worried about her shaving off her locks because of the “mean things” that would be said about her by trolls online.
She said: “I remembered the way I felt when people said mean things when I was younger. But then I fully decided that I wanted to do it and when the day came along, I was like ‘Get this s*** off my head!’
“Everybody was concerned about me shaving my head, not because of what I would look like, but because they remembered what I went through online the past times.
“They were like, ‘Do you want to go through [that] again?’ But when I decided I was willing to take that risk, they were like, ‘All right, well then we are fully behind you.’ And I’m super thankful that they are.”

She explained: “Butterfly Twists is a vegan brand. In all honesty I didn’t know that when I first started wearing their shoes, before I started collaborating with them. I just knew that I loved them. The real hydration comes from within.
“You can never drink too much water. No diet sodas! I think happiness is the best tonic for keeping us youthful. Being happy with who you are inside radiates on the outside.”

Tallulah Willis: Demi Moore is my style icon

OHMYGOSSIP — Tallulah Willis’ mother Demi Moore is her “style icon”.
The 26-year-old actress has revealed her mom Demi, 57, and her sisters – Rumer, 31, and Scout, 29 – are who she looks up when it comes to fashion, and she feels being “a fly on the wall” at photo shoots in her younger years helped to “cement” her love for fashion.
She said: “I think being a fly on the wall at various fittings and photo shoots throughout my early adolescence really cemented my love for clothing, and the whimsical fantasy it can create. My style icons are my mom and my sisters.”
And Tallulah also spoke of her other fashion influences, including Prada and its head designer Miuccia Prada.
She added: “I will always hold a special place in my heart for Prada. There’s something fundamentally chic about the way that Miuccia has created over the years. I also feel like the innovation that Alber Elbaz brought to Lanvin during his time there was pretty magnificent.”
Tallulah has launched her own fashion label, Wyllis, and she says it was “absolute non-negotiable” that the collection should contain clothes of all different sizes.
She told Tatler magazine: “It was one of my absolute non-negotiable before I even designed my pieces or knew what extended sizing would entail. I always felt that I would rather sacrifice the number of pieces we had per collection for quality fabrics and broader size range.”
Tallulah previously revealed she wants her fashion brand to be accessible to all.
She said: “I believe the only reason somebody should not want to wear one of my pieces is that they don’t like it – and it’s fine if they don’t, by the way. I think the way I’m looking at the summer collection is as an appetiser, and there’s so much more of a meal to dive into if our customers and wearers stay with us.”

Emma Roberts regrets spray tans

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Roberts regrets having spray tans when she was younger.
The ‘American Horror Story’ actress has admitted she grimaces when she thinks about how “orange” and unnatural she looked when she had regular tans.

Elsewhere, the 29-year-old star – who is said to be expecting her first child with boyfriend Garrett Hedlund – revealed that when she is not on set, she likes to avoid wearing lots of make-up, but she can’t be without her favourite mascara, the Chanel Le Volume De Chanel.
She said: “When I was younger, I used to wear a lot of makeup and I always wear it when on set, so it can feel a bit like a costume. That’s why, when I’m not working, I try to avoid wearing much of it and I have a real ‘less is more’ mantra. I couldn’t do without mascara though. I love the Chanel Le Volume De Chanel Mascara. It makes me look so much more awake and I like that the formula is really dark.”
The ‘Nerve’ star also revealed that her aunt Julia Roberts, 52, taught her about the importance of looking after her skin.
Sharing her skincare routine, Emma told Harper’s Bazaar: “For me, beauty is health, so I really focus on keeping my skin healthy, especially as I have really fair skin. And the ‘Wild Child’ actress also admitted that, whilst she tries to maintain a healthy balanced diet, she indulges every now and again.
On how she keeps fit and healthy, she added: “I love Pilates and try to find balance by eating what I love, but in moderation. I think that is really important.”

Sofia Coppola teams up with Chanel for special films series

OHMYGOSSIP — Sofia Coppola has teamed up with Chanel on a new film series inspired by their iconic Métiers D’Art Collection.
The 48-year-old filmmaker and her sibling Roman Coppola captured the annual Métiers d’art show in Paris
in December.
The catwalk showcase at the Grand Palais was followed by dinner and dancing at Paris’ legendary nightclub La Coupole, and the after-party was attended by models including Gigi Hadid, Vittoria Ceretti and Mona Tougaard, and A-list guests such as Kristen Stewart and Lily Rose-Depp.
This year’s event was the first from creative director Virginie Viard and paid homage to Chanel’s historic HQ, 31 rue Cambon.
The extravagant spectacle saw Mademoiselle Chanel’s apartment reconstructed, including the famous mirrored staircase, under the watchful eyes of Viard and Coppola.
One of the films created takes a look back at the history of the building that was acquired by Gabrielle Chanel in 1918, and became a studio, atelier and apartment.
Coppola said: “We thought about the original shows that were held at 31 rue Cambon, and how great it must have been to see the models walking by so close, and the setting by Coco’s mirrored staircase, which always gives me a thrill to see.”
The last film in the series sees Sofia and Roman show off the two-tone pumps from the collection and is focused entirely on feet, with models seen dancing backstage, before heading to La Coupole to party.
Speaking of the her aim behind the series, Sofia has said: “The film is meant to be a brief portrait of Virginie at work, it is my impression of her.
“To me, she’s a cool Parisian woman, a long time pro, a hard worker and someone who loves Chanel and its history. She’s really involved in every detail … I wanted to show a sense of her, but still keep her mystique which I appreciate. I respect that she doesn’t want to be a star and is focused on making beautiful clothes that women feel good in, like Coco Chanel.”
