Jameela Jamil: Women of colour should get free therapy

OHMYGOSSIP — Jameela Jamil wants women of colour to be given free therapy for mental health issues.
The 34-year-old actress believes the best way to tackle mental health is to talk freely about our struggles but thinks things are much harder for marginalised people who could benefit better from therapy.
Asked why it’s important for women of colour to have access to healthcare, she told ELLE: “Because life is harder for them – in particular black women, by the way. I wish all women of color around the world were given free therapy. I genuinely think it’s the thing that we most need, most deserve, because the world is harder for us to move through. I think this is probably true of all marginalized people. It’s definitely something that would help us navigate a world that unfairly discriminates against us, and then gaslights us about our own experience.”
‘The Good Place’ star has advised people who are suffering to seek help as mental health is an invisible illness and without talking about their problems it is deemed as “fake news”.
She added: “If we can’t talk about it, we can’t deal with it. We can’t see it even. Then we cover it up and we keep it to ourselves and it’s able to continue consuming us. Matt Haig said that, ‘Depression is fake news. So if you don’t come out and talk about it, you have no way to be able to see what is true and what is false. It tells you that your life will never get better, that you don’t deserve love, and that you don’t deserve to be happy. But you do. So I think it’s really important to not give it that power to reign free over you.”
Jameela has learned to manage her dark thoughts by learning to accept who she is.
She said: “I am who I am at least. If you like me or don’t like me, it’s the real me. So that makes me feel closer to myself. I think that’s really helped and made this feel less like I’m trying to live up to anyone’s expectation. I’m just being completely authentic. I think that’s a freedom that all women deserve.”

Kylie Jenner has bad skin days

OHMYGOSSIP — Kylie Jenner has insisted it is “normal and natural” to have bad skin days.
The 23-year-old beauty mogul particularly struggles with her complexion when she’s been travelling or if her work has meant she’s spent the day in very heavy make-up, but fortunately her own Kylie Skin range has the products to help.
Asked if she has bad skin days, she said: “”Of course! Nobody has perfect skin and it’s completely normal and natural to get a flare up every now and then – especially after heavy glam days and when I’m traveling.
“My new Clarifying Collection has been so helpful for stressed skin. My Clear Correction Complexion Stick is literally a miracle worker. It’s a gel serum solution that’s packed with ingredients like witch hazel, salicylic acid and tea tree oil that target any unwanted surprises. I always have it in my bag.”
The ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ star – who has two-year-old daughter Stormi with Travis Scott – always washes her face at night, but has a much lengthier routine she favours when she has the time.
She told Glamour UK: “If I have the time, I’ll go through my whole routine so first I’ll wash my face, then apply my Milk Toner, followed by the Vitamin C Serum, dab on my Eye Cream and then finally the moisturiser to really pack on the hydration.
“I also do face masks and exfoliate once or twice a week.
“I wear sunscreen every day and I make sure to wash my face every night, especially if I’ve been in heavy glam all day or if I’m traveling.”
Kylie was thankful when she was younger to have her mother, Kris Jenner, on hand to offer her skincare advice.
She said: “My first experience was definitely with face wash! I went through that typical teenage stage and needed a good, simple face wash for day and night.
“My mom really helped me navigate through all of that – and she knew exactly what products to buy having done it so many times with my older sisters!”

Kristen Stewart loves a fashion ‘uniform’

OHMYGOSSIP — Kristen Stewart loves “uniform”.
The ‘Happiest Season’ actress felt “better” while quarantining at home amid the coronavirus pandemic if she got dressed up to go out and particularly enjoyed wearing “matching” garments.
She said: “Usually, I’m a really uniform-based person. For certain weeks, I was getting dressed every morning as if I had somewhere to go. It made me feel better.
“There was a period of time when I only wanted to wear s*** that was matching. I have a leopard-print suit thing that is really fun to wear around the house. So, we wore suits and sets. And then these silky, robe-y things.
“My dad used to wear a robe around the house, and it was very floofy. I am small, so if I wear a puffy robe, it just looks so lame. The reason I didn’t like robes is that I felt silly and dinky, and I don’t like feeling silly and dinky…
“Basically, I’ve been stepping outside of wearing jeans and T-shirts. Within the confines of my own home, of course.”
The 30-year-old actress is one of the faces of Chanel and though she’s got a lot of clothes from the fashion house, she admitted she isn’t “daring” enough to wear a lot of them.
Speaking to her ‘Happiest Season’ director, Clea DuVall, she said: “I have all my Chanel s*** together. Sometimes I just walk by it. My little black jacket is sitting there.
“I have a couple of bags that are really classic. But then I have so many things that a more daring, cooler person would wear. Maybe if I have kids, they’ll be like, ‘Why aren’t you wearing this incredible thing?’ Maybe someone will step in and utilise my wardrobe.”

Abbey Clancy’s model daughters

OHMYGOSSIP — Abbey Clancy’ is “so proud” of her daughters for their appearance in a new ‘Frozen 2’ themed photoshoot.
Nine-year-old Sophia and five-year-old Liberty – the model’s eldest children with husband Peter Crouch – dressed as Anna and Elsa and were photographed with other young models by Mary McCartney to show off the new A/W collection and to kick off Frozen Fashion Week.
Abbey said: “Sophia and Liberty are huge Frozen 2 fans and they had so much fun dressing up as Anna and Elsa for Frozen Fashion Week. They have nearly as big an opinion as I do on fashion and I was so proud of them both in front of the cameras. It was a magical day and a special moment for us – all that was missing was my own Elsa dress!”
And Mary had a great time working with the children.
She said: “Growing up I watched every Disney animation film, so this shoot has brought back many fond memories from those times.
“It warmed my heart to spend the day photographing these children playing dress up, and I could see how much they enjoyed being in the Arendelle-inspired world – singing along to the ‘Frozen 2’ soundtrack, as they modelled the collection.”
The inaugural virtual Frozen Fashion Week is set in the world of Arendelle, andwill see five virtual shows featuring 16 children modelling different outfits from 11 retailers including Disney Store, H&M and George at ASDA.
The shows will be be shown on the Disney Family Facebook channel from 12 October, with the week culminating in a full virtual fashion show on 18 October at 7AM on Disney’s social channels.
Abbey – who also has sons Johnny, two, and Jack, 15 months, with her spouse – recently admitted she has “loved” being at home during lockdown with her family, even though she is exhausted and there are times when the children have “driven [her] mad”.
She said: “I’ve really enjoyed the lockdown. It’s such a special thing to pause life and have your husband and your kids with you every single day.
“We’re all so busy running around like headless chickens usually so I’ve been quite grateful for that.
“There’s been times where we’ve been exhausted and the kids are driving us mad but ultimately I’ve loved it.
“My kids are up at quarter to six and by the time they’re all in bed it’s eight so we literally have one hour together before I’m snoring my head off.”

Kerry Washington understands make-up ‘artistry’ better

OHMYGOSSIP — Kerry Washington has learned to “honour make-up artistry” because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The ‘Little Fires Everywhere’ actress has been applying her own cosmetics for public events after FaceTime consultations with her regular make-up artist Carola Gonzalez and she’s admitted she’s got a newfound appreciation for how much of a skill it is to creature the right look.
She told Refinery29: “I’ve learned to honour make-up artistry. There are so many things I’ve never paid attention to — like brushes — and doing it myself makes me appreciate the art while still having fun.”
And having more time out of the spotlight has made Kerry realise she needs to prioritise looking good for herself, not for other people.
She explained: “During this pandemic, I’ve learned that many of my beauty rituals are attached to showing up for other people. Because of the nature of my job, I was moisturising and putting on mascara for the red carpet, but not for Kerry.”
As a result, the 43-year-old star has been able to enjoy dressing up for herself.
She said: “It’s been good to let stuff go, to let my skin breathe, to focus on caring for me on the inside out.
“It feels good to paint my nails or throw on red lipstick because I want to and not because someone will write about it or for a character.”
And Kerry has urged Black women to celebrate their natural beauty.
She said: “To acknowledge our beauty right now is important because systemic racism and oppression have long taught us not to.
“We’ve been taught to reject our skin, our features, and our curls, and saying ‘no’ to those ideals right now is powerful.”

Felicity Hayward: Women shouldn’t focus on their size

OHMYGOSSIP — Felicity Hayward wants women to stop focusing on their size.
The 32-year-old plus-size model insists in 2020 with the growing influence of the body positivity movement it’s time for ladies of all shapes and sizes to embrace their natural figures and be proud of who they are.
In an interview with The Sun newspaper, she said: “When I started, I felt I was part of a crew that was making a change. I’m still a size 20 and, though I don’t mind it, can’t we all just be women, regardless of our size?
Felicity was first spotted and scouted dancing in a pub in Shoreditch, East London, and after doing a shoot for fashion photographer Miles Aldridge her career took off, quickly finding herself in demand for shoots and magazines like Vogue.
Despite enjoying years of success, Felicity still has to deal with trolls on social media, even though the majority of her followers on Instagram and Twitter are super supportive.
Discussing what should be done to stop trolls, she said: “When you put yourself out there, you’re always bound to get them.
“I think there should be a verification process to weed out trolls. But I don’t let it bother me.”
In 2015, the ASOS model launched the #SelfLoveBringsBeauty campaign which is about empowering women and she insists once women embrace “self-love” and ownership of their bodies it will change their lives for the better.
She said: “It’s all about empowering women to be the most confident they can be in their own skin.
“Finding self-love in ourselves where we say ‘my body is my best friend’ is one of the most important lessons we can learn.”

Stella McCartney launches sustainability manifesto for her label

OHMYGOSSIP — Stella McCartney has released a manifesto to shape her label’s future.
The 49-year-old fashion designer outlined her company’s values in the declaration to map out the brand’s future ahead of its spring/summer 2021 show.
She said: “During lockdown, I put into words what defines what we love, know and believe about fashion – an A to Z of Stella McCartney. It became a guiding alphabet to hold ourselves accountable for our values, what we do and where we want to go, while always producing the most desirable and sustainable fashion that can be cherished forever. In short, this manifesto reflects who we are, and who we hope to be.”
The A to Z sets out the label’s new guidelines and principles and explains that the fashion house is working towards an environmentally-friendly company with zero waste and upcycyling materials.
Each letter has been inspired by a global artist, from her close friends Jeff Koons and William Eggleston to her own mother, Linda McCartney.
She explained: “A for Accountable, C for Conscious, O for Organic, V for Vegan.”
Stella has been able to include the manifest in her upcoming Spring/Summer collection by using Econyl, which is made from recycled plastic bottles to promote zero waste.
She told Vogue: “All of the collection is 100 per cent organic denim and jersey. With regard to content and sourcing, we’re pushing ourselves to do better this season. But OK, yes: it’s summer, so let’s start with Stellawear pieces — they’re swimwear and shapewear all in one. It’s about being able to go into the water and dry off super quickly, and just carry on with your day, wearing it as a body. It’s a brand-new piece of technology, made with Econyl, which is created from recycled plastic bottles and other nylons. Because of the seamless, sculpting engineering of the yarn, there’s zero waste.
“We’ve figured out that by using Econyl, we’ve prevented 10 tonnes of new nylon going into the industry. It’s really exciting when you can start to put figures on what you’re replacing. And because the pieces are multipurpose, it kind of empowers women to use more, buy less.”

Elizabeth Hurley’s first modelling job came ‘out of the blue’

OHMYGOSSIP — Elizabeth Hurley’s first modelling job came “out of the blue”.
The 55-year-old star admits she waited “years” to get her first modelling job, having been an actress for a long time before.
Speaking to PEOPLE TV about her first job as a model, she shared: “It came out of the blue. I acted for years before I got my first modelling job. I was an actress, not really a model.”
Meanwhile, Elizabeth previously admitted she was never “obsessed” with hair and make-up as a teenager.
The 55-year-old actress said: “I wasn’t a teenager who was obsessed at that time with hair and make-up and looking in the mirror … When I was younger, I was much more self conscious than I am now, which doesn’t make sense because, in retrospect, I had a better body 30 years ago. ”
Elizabeth has admitted she had even less time to perfect her appearance when she had her son Damian in 2002.
She explained: “When it’s just you, there is a lot more time to worry about yourself. Once there’s something else it just dissipates. You don’t really have much time to look in the mirror and ‘ooh’ and ‘aah’ and pinch bits, because you’re busy.”
And Elizabeth thinks youngsters nowadays don’t “hog the bathroom” as much as they used to because of social media.
She said: “I think it’s just a teenage thing. They don’t have to look in the mirror for hours now and hog the bathroom, because they can just take selfies. It’s kind of the same thing. They have a retouching app – I think they grow out of it.”

Rebel Wilson makes fashion even more fun

OHMYGOSSIP — Rebel Wilson’s health journey has “made fashion even more fun”.
The ‘Pitch Perfect’ star has dropped an impressive amount of weight already and it has made her much more “adventurous” when it comes to her fashion choices.
A source told People magazine: “Her health journey has made fashion more fun for her and she loves trying new things, new designers and being adventurous.”
And Rebel is now only eight kilograms from her goal weight.
Taking to Instagram, she wrote: “Thanks for all the love so far on my ‘Year of Health’ journey – when I was reaching for the candies last night after dinner I thought to myself ‘hmmmm … better not’ and had a bottle of water instead x 8kg’s to go until I hit my goal – hopefully I can do it by the end of the year x (sic)”
Rebel had previously revealed she is aiming to get to 165 pounds, and though she admitted she faces “constant setbacks”, she’s doing everything in her power to succeed and lose the weight she wants.
Alongside a snap of herself in her gym wear in her living room, Rebel wrote: “Even if you have to crawl towards your goals, keep going x it will be worth it. Try and give a little bit of effort each day…I know some days are frustrating as hell, you feel like giving up, you get annoyed at the lack of progress…but good things are coming your way. What are your goals this year?
“I’ll be honest with you guys – with my ‘Year of Health’ mission I’m trying to get to 75kg’s (165 pounds) and career wise am trying to get one of my movies into production before the end of the year! Both of these things are requiring a daily effort and there’s constant set backs – but I’m working hard. (sic)”

Drew Barrymore’s interesting hair choices

OHMYGOSSIP — Drew Barrymore thinks she’s had many “interesting” hair choices over the years.
The ’50 First Dates’ star loves to try “new things” with her hair but she has “never regretted” any of them.
She said: “I have always loved playing with my hair and trying new things. I’ve had plenty of hairstyles that I look back on and think, well that was an interesting choice, but I have never regretted any of them.”
And the 45-year-old actress misses “crimping irons” and other past trends.
She added: “I miss those days. The crimping irons, the bleach, the Sun-In – it was so fun. When I see people now, who take chances with haircuts, colours, and different styles, it makes me so happy.”
Drew’s new haircare range was concocted in “day-long sessions” at her home on “different hair textures”.
She shared to Refinery29: “Some of my best friends are in the hair industry, and we had these day-long sessions at my house where we worked with all the prototypes on different hair textures and made adjustment. I have this philosophy of making every day pretty. It’s about making utilitarian products we use every day – think on your kitchen counter or bathroom sink – look more fun and playful to make you happy.”
Drew previously admitted she finds it “harder” to be confident the older she gets and she is much more self-conscious now.
She said: “It gets harder as you get older. I will see the monitor all the time at photoshoots and just think, ‘Holy hell. I hate what I’m seeing. I don’t feel good about myself. Where did my chin go? Why is it inside my neck? Why are my two eyes so different? Why does the hair not look right? Oh my god! My puffiness, my dark circles. I will literally eviscerate myself.’ And I just think, ‘You know what? Eventually, I don’t want to do this anymore because I don’t want to look at myself that way.’
“I loved Madonna. I loved Elton John. I always was drawn to people who … Barbra Streisand, Jane Fonda. You never knew what they were going to look like as a character or in a movie or the way they were wearing their hair and makeup, the style. Cher. This was what inspired me growing up. I loved the theatrics, but I really loved the curiosity, the burning question of what are they going to do next, and then when they present that.”

Jodie Turner-Smith’s simple beauty routine

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Turner-Smith’s beauty routine has “definitely become simpler” since she became a mom.
The ‘Queen and Slim’ actress welcomed daughter Janie into the world five months ago and she admits things have changed greatly for her in the past few months.
She said: “It definitely has become simpler. I don’t get to spend two hours in the bathroom anymore. And because it’s simpler, it’s definitely more the point, like everything that I do and everything that I have is just the essentials and the stuff that I just really can’t live without. And then I try to carve out time for myself to do the other things to feel good and luxuriate, like take a hot bath.”
The same applies for fragrance as Jodie admits she only now wears scents on “special occasions” since she welcomed her daughter into the world.
She added: “Now, because of my daughter, I kind of only wear fragrance on special occasions. It’s more like when mum and dad are having a date night, the perfume goes on.”
The 34-year-old actress feels it is important to keep hydrated.
Asked for her number one beauty tip, she added to People magazine: “Stay hydrated. I’m kind of addicted to alkaline water.
“Joshua [Jackson; her husband] and I just got to New York, and I made him order me some because I think it tastes better. And I have one of those water bottles that have the hours on it, and when you get to the bottom it says, ‘Almost there. Keep going!’ which keeps me motivated.”

Rihanna’s quarantine uniform

OHMYGOSSIP — Rihanna doesn’t dress sexy every day in quarantine.
The ‘We Found Love’ hitmaker insists she doesn’t always dress up in “leather” in lockdown and instead prefers to wear robes and more comfy clothes.
Asked what she wears in quarantine, she said: “It’s not leather and all sexy. I’m in a robe every day!”
Rihanna always chooses her outfits to complement how she feels on that day.
Speaking about how she makes her outfit decisions, she added: “It depends on what day it is. It depends on what my body is giving. If I’m giving a** today, I’ll work with that. If I’m bloated but my t*** are sitting up here and bigger, I’ll work with my t***. If I’m bloated and my gut is huge, then I’ll go snatch that up. But, you know, we got a category for everything at Savage X. So I’m not worried.”
And for the 32-year-old singer’s brand Savage X Fenty “inclusivity” is very important.
She told People magazine: “Inclusivity has always been a part of our brand. That’s not a ‘right now’ thing. It’s sad that it’s right now for most brands. But that’s always been who I am. It’s always been how I operate with everything I’ve done creatively, whether it’s makeup or lingerie. I get really excited to see people be a part of my brand. It’s not like I went into it thinking, ‘Let’s make a movement.’ I feel great that there are women that are feeling like they see themselves on the stage for the first time. And if we can continue to expand on that, we’ve done more than we really started out trying to do.”

Jodie Turner-Smith: Beauty cheers me up

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Turner-Smith uses beauty to “cheer herself up”.
The ‘Queen and Slim’ actress is inspired by her mother’s mantra towards beauty and would regularly get glammed up to make herself smile.
She shared: “I think something that I always love that my mom always would do is that she would use beauty to cheer herself up.
“If she were feeling down, it would be especially in those moments that she would glam up. And I feel like that. I kind of took that on as I got older and it was like literally putting on something could make my mood better.”
Jodie is the face of Profumo di Fiori, Gucci Bloom’s newest fragrance, and she revealed that her and her mother used to always “bond” over scent.
She added: “I love incense. I love my essential oils.
“I love flowers that have fragrances. I just love aroma. It’s just something that’s always been important to me. And maybe it’s because it is the thing that my mother always used to bond when I was young.”
And Jodie went on to praise Gucci for ignoring any “narrow views of beauty”.
She shared to Essence magazine: “It’s great to kind of be invited to play with amongst other women who I think are so incredible, amazing, and iconic.
“It’s fun to be part of this family. I find that Gucci doesn’t subscribe to those narrow views of beauty. I find it’s much bolder and at times eccentric and interesting.”
