Manolo Blahnik loves sandals with socks for winter

OHMYGOSSIP — Manolo Blahnik says sandals with socks is part of his “perfect winter uniform”.
The 77-year-old high-end designer – who established his eponymous shoe brand in 1970 – has revealed the trend he’s loving for this time of year, which he hailed as “so elegant”, but admitted is not for everyone.
In an interview with MR PORTER, Blahnik said of his favourite shoe in the online fashion brand’s collection: “I love the classic Witney brogues and the Delsa Chelsea boots, but my favourite style is the sandal – all sandals. For me, a beautiful suit paired with a rollneck and sandals – with socks – is the perfect winter uniform and so elegant. Not to everyone’s taste, perhaps, but I love the look.”
When it comes to dressing well, Blahnik insisted “style is far more important than fashion”.
He said: “Whether it’s a Savile Row suit, Cutler and Gross glasses or a simple T-shirt and jeans, discover what makes you feel most comfortable. Style is far more important than fashion. When I first met [the playwright] Tennessee Williams, I had already adopted my ‘uniform’ of a double-breasted suit and bow tie. He looked me up and down and said, ‘You look like I did when I sold shoes.’ I replied, ‘That’s what I do.’
“I always buy my suits from Anderson & Sheppard, dine at Wiltons and go to Green & Stone in Chelsea for art materials. And I have cornflakes and marmalade for breakfast every day. I like familiarity, especially with places. Sometimes you do not have to discover everything – new things more often than not are disappointing. I love habits, I only wish I could get into the habit of sleeping well. Which I don’t…”

Brie Larson felt ‘ugly and like an outcast’ for ‘so much’ of her life

OHMYGOSSIP — Brie Larson “struggled with feeling ugly and like an outcast” for “so much” of her life.
The ‘Captain Marvel’ actress has revealed it took her while to accept herself for who she is and to be “totally comfortable” in her own skin, and she wants to encourage others to feel like they have the “freedom to express themselves” as who they truly are, because she doesn’t believe a “beauty standard” exists.
She said: “I don’t believe that there is a beauty standard. I struggled with feeling ugly and like an outcast for so much of my life. And so I really, really feel for that. It took me a long time to be able to be totally comfortable with myself. The thing that has brought me solace is knowing that I can be whoever I want to be with myself. What breaks my heart is to think of people in the world who don’t feel that they have safety within their own bodies. That, to me, is my ultimate goal in life: to do whatever it is that I can so people have the freedom to express themselves and be exactly who it is that they want to be—whatever that is—knowing that that can also change.”
Meanwhile, the 31-year-old movie star shared how she has learnt to maintain a healthy work/self-care balance.
Speaking about these “nerve-wracking” times amid the coronavirus pandemic, she said: “It is nerve-wracking. I’ve had to learn how to place more boundaries with work and my self-care. It just feels like everything can be so out of whack. As I mentioned, I have started winding down once the sun starts to set. It’s also my cue to start cooking dinner, go into the garden—that’s how it starts. I’ve been burning frankincense in the house too, because it not only smells great, but it’s great for cleansing the air in the house; it’s anti-microbial. I’ve also been trying to watch a movie every night. Sometimes I’ll do some breathing exercises, or I’ll meditate if I’ve had a particularly stressful day. For me, it’s about what can I do that is transitional out of work into decompressing time, because when you’re at home all day I feel it’s very easy to let everything stick and hang on to you. It’s about knowing what’s the routine and what’s the ritual to get out of that.”
Brie insisted that sometimes all it takes is 10 minutes to reset the “mind and body”.
She added to W magazine: “Or even a couple of minutes can help! The thing that I’m learning is that even just washing my face, putting on moisturiser, and doing five minutes of breathing exercises can help. I mean, we’re talking about 10 minutes. Before I used to be like, ‘I don’t have time for self-care.’ It’s doesn’t take as long as we think it does. You can do longer forms—of course, I am a big fan of that—but even for people who feel they are too busy, you can take 10 minutes to do great things for the mind and body.”

Jameela Jamil: My clothes allow me to become different characters

OHMYGOSSIP — Jameela Jamil expresses her “different characters” through her clothes.
The 34-year-old actress thinks about her “plural” selves whilst getting ready for a red carpet event as she believes her fashion choices should represent how she feels on a daily basis.
In an interview with ELLE, she said: “I think about looking like my-selves — plural. We have so many different facets to ourselves. All the different characters that live within me come out, day-to-day, in my clothes, so fashion really becomes about, ‘Who do you feel like being today?’ ”
However, Jameela admits she often wears oversized clothing as an “armour” to stop people from looking at and judging her body.
She explained: “Normally when I’m wearing a suit, I’m wearing it as armour. I often wear a baggy suit, and I’m deliberately wearing it to be released from my gender, and from anyone speculating at my body shape. It’s asexual and focused.
“I just want to look like a very chic brain, you know? I don’t need people looking at my body all the time, but I do want them to say, ‘She looks cool,’ and I want to feel cool. But I’ll also wear a tight dress and allow my body a moment. Just a moment!”
Meanwhile, ‘The Good Place’ star has openly criticised the Kardashians for promoting unrealistic body goals and but she doesn’t believe in the sisters being cancelled for good because they have the potential to use their fame and fans for good causes.
She explained: “I don’t believe in cancelling people who have the potential to do immense good. That’s incredibly stupid. Harvey Weinstein – cancel him. Cancel people who are a danger to society. The Kardashians, it would be madness not to call them in to help fix the thing they’ve been part of perpetuating. But seeing what Kim has done with prison reform?! That’s a sign of what happens when they utilise their power for good. These are powerful women, and I think they’ve already started changing.”

Conor McGregor teases new denim line

OHMYGOSSIP — Conor McGregor has teased a new collection for his denim line.
The 32-year-old boxer took a break from his UFC return to give fans a sneak peek of his latest range from his August McGregor fashion line with tailor David August Heil.
The latest release includes smart denim jackets, jeans, hoodies, T-shirts and sweatpants.
Conor first teamed up with the tailor in 2017 and launched their brand the following year, which saw four T-shirts, two hoodies and two caps on sale.
They came up with the idea whilst the marital artist was being fitted for one of Heil’s custom-made suits.
Since then the company has expanded with new ranges, including bomber jackets, accessories and suits.
Conor and Heil first collaborated when the sportsman donned the infamous “F*** You’ suit at a 2017 press tour for his fight against Floyd Mayweather.
The pinstripe suit was later made available to buy on his online store for £5,000.
It comes after Conor is set to face Dustin Poirier in January after he verbally accepted a rematch following Conor’s win in 2014.
He has been busy training in the gym with his son, Conor Jr. and his training partner Cian Cowley.
Conor has not fought since January and even retired from the sport in June after he was frozen out of the lightweight title picture.
But he has the chance to slot right back into contention, after Khabib Nurmagomedov retired following victory over Justin Gaethje.
He returned to training and shared videos on his social media where he works on defensive drills, slipping, rolling and blocking shots.

The campaign features the talents of established and emerging stars pictured in the brand’s pre-spring 2021 collection photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, with creative direction by Katie Grand.
It continues the long-standing relationship between Miu Miu and ‘50 Shades Darker’ star Kim Basinger, who has starred in multiple campaigns for the Italian fashion house.
Likewise, Chloe Sevigny has been featured in Miu Miu campaigns since 1996 when she was just 22 years old.
The campaign captures the star’s feminine strength with notions of girlhood as the women pose in pastel hues and crystal-adorned clothes featuring vintage-inspired frills and bold patterns.
Meanwhile, Emma – who plays Princess Diana in ‘The Crown’ – has learned some styling tips from the late royal and used her iconic fashion sense to help her navigate her way through the series.
She said: “Having her fashion to hold onto was such a powerful tool during filming. When I would film a scene from episode three and episode nine in the same day, if I had one of those famous suits to put on, I’d know: ‘Okay, I’m in this phase for Diana.’ Clothes make such a difference to how you hold yourself and where you are mentally. It speaks to the power of fashion.”

Elle Fanning stars in Gucci film series

OHMYGOSSIP — Elle Fanning has partnered up with Gucci’s ‘Absolute Beginners’ film series.
The 22-year-old actress has joined the luxury fashion label alongside Jodie Turner-Smith and Kelvin Harrison Jr. to release a series of short films with nine first-time directors to celebrate “the potency of the pop culture and naïveté, the beauty in amateurism, and expose the power and vulnerability of the creative impulse while centering the Gucci Jackie 1961 bag”.
The nine films will be released in two drops on TikTok with the first one – which features Elle, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Jodie Turner-Smith, Benedetta Porcaroli and Emma Corrin – being released on October 28 and the second on November 6.
The second drop will feature films by Lily Gavin, Barry Keoghan, Yoshi, and Arlo Parks.
Speaking about the project, Elle said: “My film is about captivating the nature of Gucci. Even a dog can be hypnotised by its beauty. One night while drifting off to sleep, I thought of this western showdown between a dog and dog owner with a scoreboard keeping tallies of how Gucci always wins.
“Since I am an absolute beginner to directing, I wanted to make a statement with the tone. Yes, this is a fashion film, but why not tell a funny story while looking at sparkling garments?”
Kelvin added: “[My] film is essentially a story about the seemingly ever-present fear of love. The concept initially came from someone I was seeing who told me that the risk of falling in love was greater than the reward. They had come to believe that after so many unsuccessful attempts at sustaining a long-lasting relationship it was unfair to expect anyone to take on their accompanying baggage. It was suggested I may be naive to believe that someone could not only handle the baggage of another, but embrace it with an authorship as if it were their own”.
What’s more, the creator behind the original viral Gucci Model Challenge, Morgan Presley will release a “#GucciAbsoluteBeginners guide to living a Gucci life” video with audio for other creators on TikTok can use to re-create their own Gucci videos.

Oli White and Evie Marcer launch CBD brand

OHMYGOSSIP — Oli White and Evie Marcer have launched a new CBD brand after experiencing anxiety from fame.
The YouTube influencers decided to launch wellbeing brand, UNIQUE CBD, to help others with stress and anxiety, after they both admitted the public spotlight made their mental health suffer.
Oli was recommended CBD by his mother, who has been battling breast cancer.
He said: “Battling breast cancer left my Mum suffering from anxiety, a lack of sleep and low, if any self-confidence. It was horrible to see from such a wonderful and inspirational woman. Thankfully she was introduced to CBD to help with the knock-on effects of her battle. We all noticed the difference, none more so than she did. She really believes it helped her with the mental side of her recovery.
“After years of sustaining an active presence online, me and Evie experienced our own personal struggles too with anxiety, stress and sleep – so my mum recommended we try CBD. It was then that we realised that finding an honest, high quality and trustworthy product in the UK was extremely challenging. Many available options are highly misleading with very little information at all about the product’s ingredients and origin. Some even contain THC when they say they don’t.
“We eventually decided to design our own oil formulation for personal use, under the direction of a leading neuroscientist. It then became quickly evident to us that we had created a very special product and soon after, UNIQUE CBD was born.”
Their first product is CBD oil formula Day Drops, a naturally peppermint flavoured oil, available in three sizes.

Olivia Culpo felt ‘ugly’ growing up

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Culpo felt “ugly” growing up.
The 28-year-old model – who was crowned Miss Universe in 2012 – admits she was “really different looking” when she was younger as she thought her older sister “looked like a Barbie doll” whilst she was overweight.
She said: “Honestly growing up I felt really ugly which is a terrible thing to say … I was really different looking. My older sister looked like the Barbie doll. I was overweight. I had to look myself in the mirror and say, ‘Okay, you’re different,’ because I was.”
And Olivia recalls being put on a diet when she was 10-years-old.
Speaking to her sister Aurora Culpo on the Emergency Contact podcast, she added: “Our dad is amazing but our dad is like, Type A and has run over a dozen marathons. When I was 10 years old, yeah, I was put on those diets and I kind of realised, when you put in the work you get the results. It kind of all started from there.”
It comes after Olivia admitted she was “nervous” about opening up on her endometriosis and she was “shocked” how many women got in touch to share their similar experiences.
She said: “It was something that I was nervous to share because I really didn’t know if people would be familiar with the condition, and it turns out a lot of women are. I was shocked to see how many women have also suffered from endometriosis, and how many questions women have about painful periods. They’re not normal, and they could get in the way of your fertility.
“A lot of women may have painful periods, they may not be properly diagnosed. They may never be diagnosed. They may not be getting proper treatment, or surgery in some cases. And then, they’re 50, 40 years old, and they had never been able to have children, and then you realize, ‘Oh, maybe I had had endometriosis that I was never properly diagnosed.’ That’s a common problem that I want to be able to use my platform to help. [I want to] make sure women are doing their due diligence and getting their egg count checked, making sure that if they do have painful periods, that it’s not something that’s affecting their ovaries or their egg.”

Cardi B slams racist comments about Hermés Birkin handbag collection

OHMYGOSSIP — Cardi B has slammed racist comments made about her Hermés Birkin handbag collection.
The ‘Bodak Yellow’ hitmaker has fumed at her followers after seeing a viral tweet which claims that the iconic handbags are “losing their value” because Black female rappers make them less “exclusive”.
Speaking in a video posted to Instagram, she fumed: “I’ve been seeing this tweet right. It had me and it had other female rappers on it. They were talking about if we could get Birkins from the Hermés store and they were also saying how we depreciate the value of a Hermés Birkin bag. I find that really interesting because, first thing first, I definitely could get a bag. Actually, I got four bags today from the Hermés store … Why are you questioning if Black women could get a bag from the Hermés store; y’all don’t do this to these white celebrities. So why is it that y’all gotta be asking us? What the f***? It just makes you want to brag like, ‘B**** do you know who the f*** you’re talking to?’ But no, I’m not even going to take it there.”
It comes after Cardi defended Offset’s decision to give their two-year-old daughter Kulture Kiari a Birkin bag.
Defending his decision, she shared on her Instagram stories: “I know when celebrities buy their kids jewellery and designer s***, people be like, ‘Kids don’t care about that, they only care about toys and candy.’ But the thing is, kids also go outside. Kids go to restaurants, kids go to fancy places. Celebrity kids, they go do red carpets. And if I’m fly, and daddy’s fly, then so is the kid. If I’m wearing Cha-nay-nay [Chanel], my kid’s having the same thing. It’s not up to what the kids like. If it was the kids, they’d be outside in diapers. No, cause if I was looking like a bad b*****, expensive b****, and I had my kid looking like a bum bum, then y’all would be talking s***. So, I’m not mad that daddy bought baby a Birkin. She’s gonna match mommy.”

Gisele Bündchen: Ageing is beautiful

OHMYGOSSIP — Gisele Bündchen thinks ageing is “beautiful”.
The 40-year-old model admits it can be “challenging” getting older and she has seen changes in her skincare, but overall she thinks it is great and she has an “incredible sense of gratitude” because of it.
She said: “Sun spots are very real! Age is a beautiful thing and a natural part of life, but it can also be challenging. I’ve definitely seen changes in my skin over the years. When I look at these changes and see a reflection of all the years I’ve lived so far, I feel an incredible sense of gratitude. As I’ve gotten older, I have grown more comfortable in my own skin, and I’m grateful for every experience, and every year of my life so far.”
And Gisele feels that skincare is part of a “lifelong practice”.
She added: “Taking care of your skin is a lifelong practice. I have learned that in order to have healthy skin later in life, you have to make skin care a priority when you are young. Everyone’s skin is unique, so you need to find high-quality products and a daily skin-care routine that works for you.”
The mother-of-two is a huge fan of Dior’s Capture Totale Super Potent Serum.
Speaking to Allure, she shared: “I was blown away by the serum because, after only a week or so of using it daily, I started seeing results. The first change was how glowy my complexion looked. The tone had evened out, and my skin looked so healthy and plump.”

Lena Waithe: Black women have been ‘forced to conform’ with their hair styles

OHMYGOSSIP — Lena Waithe feels Black women have been “forced to conform” with their hair styles.
The ‘Bad Hair’ star believes that Black women have changed their hairstyles or adapted them in order to “look palatable for their white coworkers” and says there has been unnecessary pressure on Black women to “straighten” their hair.
She said: “I think for a lot of Black women, particularly in corporate America, they have been forced to conform and to look palatable for their white coworkers. We’ve also had this sort of European beauty and what we were supposed to look like. There’s a lot of pressure on Black women to straighten their hair, even if they don’t want to.”
And the 36-year-old screenwriter, producer and actress insists her new horror satirical movie, which follows a woman who gets a weave so she can fit in at work, only for it to have a mind of its own, is not “anti-straight hair or natural hair”.
Speaking to Good Morning America, she added: “This is not anti-straight hair or natural hair, it’s more about having the freedom to wear your hair however you choose. Things like the Crown Act are a prime example of that. I think the movie is really all about not conforming to fit in but more about doing what makes sense for you and standing out.”
Meanwhile, Lena previously spoke of the importance of black LGBTQ+ representation.
She said: “It’s substantially significant and necessary. I think representation in all regards is so necessary, and right now, we’re fighting for so many different causes. Not just Black lives or Black male lives but Black trans lives, gay Black lives. I wanted to be clear Black women who are, I always say ‘masculine-presenting,’ we can also be soft. We can also be vulnerable. And we’re not all aggressive. I’m always fighting to be the best person I can be, partner I can be, friend I can be. And I think people don’t necessarily associate that with someone that walks through the world the way we do. And I was really happy that we got to just show a different side of us.”

Slick Woods talks mental health

OHMYGOSSIP — Slick Woods has compared her relationship with mental health to a marriage.
The 24-year-old American fashion model and actress has worked hard on her mental health and says she has had to make many “compromises” with herself to get to a place she is happy with.
She told Vogue.co.uk: “Early in developing my relationship with mental health, I obsessed over ways to fix myself, become normal, and ‘behave’. Now my relationship with my mental health is more like a marriage, it’s about compromise. I allow myself to feel it when I’m overwhelmed and trust myself to come out through the end of the tunnel.”
And Slick revealed she tries to treat herself in order to continue her self-care regime.
She explained: “Self-care has an endless definition for me. It could be adjusting boundaries with relationships or even with yourself to establish what you feel is healthy. It could be just watering your flowers, cleaning the house, taking a long bath, or wearing your favourite shoes.”
Slick – whose real name is Simone Thompson – welcomed her first son Saphir, who she shares with fellow model Adonis Bosso, in 2018 and previously revealed that she actually went into labour during Rihanna’s New York Fashion Week Savage x Fenty Lingerie Presentation in Brooklyn.
Sharing a photo of herself during the show on Instagram, she wrote: “A lewk, 14 hours of labor, and A king is born.
“This is the face of a WOMAN IN LABOR, we hold s*** down most of us don’t even know how much we’re going through, I’m here to say I CAN DO WHATEVER THE F**K I WANT WHENEVER THE F**K I WANT AND SO CAN YOU. (sic)”
It was reported that an ambulance was called moments after the model stepped off the runway.
Slick rose to fame after featuring in a campaign for Kanye West’s Yeezy brand and since then has appeared in several international editions of Vogue and a campaign for Calvin Klein.
