Hailee Steinfeld opens up on ‘never-ending journey’ with acne-prone skin

OHMYGOSSIP — Hailee Steinfeld’s battle with adult acne has impacted her self-esteem.
The 23-year-old actress-and-singer has opened up about her “never-ending journey” with her skin and how “frustrating” it is when she needs to be on the red carpet and she is having a breakout.
Speaking to ELLE for their ‘Beauty Truths’ series, Hailee said: “I would definitely be lying if I said it hasn’t affected my self-esteem.
“Sometimes I will be like, I am going to have my make-up done, it won’t even matter it will be covered up.
“And then sometimes I’ve also felt like wearing make-up almost accentuates it more and brings more attention to it.
“Then I feel like I am trying to cover it up and you see it more.
“When it becomes the time to walk the red carpet, it’s frustrating. I’m on what feels like a never-ending journey with my skin.”
The ‘True Grit’ star says that stress is a major factor to causing her breakouts and her skin has improved tenfold since being in quarantine and having the time to “destress”.
She said: “Since quarantine started I’ve actually had time to relax and destress and I do feel like I’ve seen improvement in my skin.
“Just by taking the time to focus on me and eat clean food, drink a lot of water, stay as active as I can as safely as possible.
“The stress management is a real thing.”
The ‘Wrong Direction’ singer also admitted that it doesn’t help seeing “perfect” images on social media that have had blemishes edited out.
She added: “It definitely has been difficult for me scrolling through my phone and seeing all of these images that are perfect.
“Whether they are Facetuned or Photoshopped or not, it feels like everything that we see is quite literally perfect.”

Rihanna confirms Fenty Skin products will hit stores on Boxing Day

OHMYGOSSIP — Rihanna has confirmed Fenty Skin products will be available at stores worldwide from December 26.
The beauty mogul took to Instagram to share a promo shot of her making sure the products were set and ready to go at Sephora this week.
The collection will also be available to buy at Harvey Nichols and Boots in the UK.
The ‘Work’ hitmaker captioned the shot: “Just me pullin up to Sephora to make sure @fentyskin is loaded! Straight like dat, we in stores from December 26th!! Available at @sephora, @harveynichols, and @bootsuk !! Til then, see you at FentySkin.com (sic)”
Meanwhile, Rihanna recently admitted she wants men to stop thinking they “don’t have permission” to use skincare products.
The 32-year-old singer and businesswoman – who launched her Fenty Skin brand in July, as an extension of her hugely successful Fenty Beauty range – said she’s determined to end the stigma surrounding men’s skincare, as she doesn’t want anyone to feel as though they’re “not allowed” to care for their body.
Speaking to rumoured beau A$AP Rocky – who starred in her launch campaign – for Vogue’s ‘Face to Face’ series, she said in the summer: “Men love their skin, and they take care of it, but they feel obligated almost to only use products that are for men because anything beyond that feels too feminine, it’s not for them, they’re not allowed, they don’t have permission.”
Rihanna opted to make her Fenty Skin range as gender neutral as possible so that everyone could “feel included”, especially men.
She added: “The topic of inclusivity has become something that our brand has fallen upon, just by sincere and organic perspective. Like, my idea of beauty has always been a black woman, so the way I’ve expanded that idea was doing skincare in a more gender neutral idea where men feel included.”
And the ‘Diamonds’ hitmaker would love to see even more inclusivity in the beauty industry, as she said she wishes the “leaders” of the industry were a “more diverse set of pioneers”.
She explained: “I wish the leaders of the beauty industry were a more diverse set of pioneers, who have not just experienced the culture but have experienced the negligence in the industry when it comes to skin tone or skin type.
“I feel like there’s so many voids to be filled, and we will only know that by the pioneers that have experienced those voids and the lack of their representation in the industry. So I think by having an eclectic array of skin types, skin tones, different cultures and people, and different representations of religions and cultures, you would have the most information on where to go next.”

Carmen Electra shares her skincare tips

OHMYGOSSIP — Carmen Electra says she learnt the importance of SPF while shooting ‘Baywatch’ on the beach.
The 48-year-old actress, singer and model became a global sex symbol thanks to her stint as Lani McKenzie on ‘Baywatch’ in the 1990s, and she’s revealed how hours in the sunshine on set by the ocean taught her how vital it is to protect your skin from the damaging rays.
She told Page Six Style: “I love the ocean! The saltwater can be very good for your skin, from exfoliating to tightening pores.
“And always applying SPF to protect my skin was an absolute must [on set].”
The blonde beauty has recently launched her own GoGo Skincare brand and has sworn by the same routine for two decades.
She said: “I have always focused on a moisturising make-up removal, hyaluronic acid serum, and a deep moisturising face cream packed full of high-quality essential ingredients.”
Carmen recently revealed people are “shocked” when she tells them she hasn’t had any cosmetic surgery.
The former Playboy model insisted she has never gone under the knife and claims having “discipline” with her skincare is the secret to her natural radiance.
She spilled: “Let’s be real, we are in Hollywood here and when I share the real story most people are shocked, because normally a woman would have certain things done.
In my case I am completely free of [surgery] and I would say [my youthful appearance] is because of my discipline with my skincare routine.”
However, the blonde beauty hasn’t ruled out having surgery in the future.
She said: “For the moment I am happy with my routine and it’s working! I feel that everyone has the right to be who they want without judgement.”

Maya Jama plans to extend her MIJ Masks range to include more skincare products

OHMYGOSSIP — Maya Jama plans to develop more skincare products after launching MIJ Masks.
The 26-year-old presenter – who is set to co-host tonight’s (09.12.20) MOBO Awards – recently launched her own brand of face masks and under eye patches after two years developing the products, and she has teased that she’s hoping to extend the line to include more items in the future.
She told Stylist: “For me it’s all about making products that people love. We’re going to start with these two products, take on board feedback and give the people what they want. I’d love to develop more skincare products, so watch this space.”
Maya – who started the business off her own bat – says the COVID-19 pandemic meant there were “various delays” in getting the masks launched.
She said: “We’ve been working on these products for the past couple years – it’s been a big build up, but I am so excited to be able to finally make it a reality. We were hit with various delays due to Covid-19 but we are finally here. I did a lot of market research, spoke to my followers and friends, tried and tested all my favourites to discover what I, as a consumer, was really looking for in a mask so that I could develop the best possible masks for all you guys.”
Asked for her tips for using the products, she said: “Whether I’m heading to a shoot, slouching on a plane or prepping for a night out, you’ll find me treating my skin to some well-deserved TLC. My top tip: pop the Eye Patches in the fridge first so they’re super cooling.”

John Mayer launches G-SHOCK watch inspired by his childhood Casio keyboard

OHMYGOSSIP — John Mayer has released a G-SHOCK watch inspired by his childhood Casio keyboard.
The 43-year-old rocker admitted getting to design the Casio G-SHOCK Ref 6900 by John Mayer timepiece, which is based on his favourite instrument (Casiotone SK-5 Sampling Keyboard) growing up, is “the perfect bridge between my double life as a musician and a watch enthusiast”.
He said: “When Casio approached me about the possibility of working together on a G-SHOCK, it actually timed out really well.
“I had already been pretty deep into wearing the ‘Mudmaster’ models, and something felt cosmically right about a G-SHOCK being the first watch collab I’ve ever done.
“Casio keyboards came to mind as much as the watches did. Then I remembered how important the Casiotone SK-5 was in my life, and it got exciting really fast. It’s the perfect bridge between my double life as a musician and a watch enthusiast.”
The design of the watch is described as an 80s-spin on the iconic 1995 G-SHOCK.
Meanwhile, the Grammy-winner previously admitted he never takes his wardrobe choices too seriously because he feels fashion should be a journey of mistakes until you find the right look that works.
He wrote: “You shouldn’t let fashion hurt your feelings. If it does, that’s a good indicator you’re taking it way too seriously. Anybody, at any time, should be allowed to wear whatever they like. Whether it works or not will be for their future self to make peace with.
“God knows I have a very well-documented history of attempts. Take a hat, for example. Do you know how many hats you have to wear before you find the one that actually works? Wearing bad hats is the only path to a good hat. I’m still trying to fail. I’d like to lose on an outfit one out of every ten times. Means I’m trying. Or I’m not. Did you see how my point just crumbled before me? That’s what happens when you try to apply too much thought to fashion.”
The Casio G-Shock Ref 6900 by John Mayer is available now for $180 over at Hodinkee.com

Maya Jama always carries a stash of gold jewellery in her handbag

OHMYGOSSIP — Maya Jama always has “loads and loads” of gold jewellery in her handbag.
The MIJ Masks founder has revealed all the items she carries around with her inside her purse, including a stash of accessories in case she ever needs to “bling” up an outfit.
Appearing on an episode of British Vogue’s ‘In The Bag’ series, she said: “I always just carry around loads and loads of gold jewellery.
“So at the bottom of any bag I have there’s always loads of necklaces, earrings, I don’t know, belly piercing rings.
“Just because I am scatty and my bag is a black hole, but also you never know when you need to add some accessories.
“Go out in a vest, dig down in your bag … bling!”
As well as perfume, two smartphones, eye drops and her own masks, Maya also makes sure she always has a single hair extension with her for whenever she might feel like adding extra length to her hair.
She said: “The next thing is a hair extension.
“If you follow me, my hair changes lengths quite often and in my bag always have pieces of ponytail or fringe just in case you lose a track. So there we are, one clip-in.
“I’ve definitely left my bag in certain places and people have been like, ‘What? Is there a cat in there?” But, no, it’s just a bit of my clip-on fringe.”

LL Cool J launching hip-hop inspired Chain Collection

OHMYGOSSIP — LL Cool J is launching the Chain Collection inspired by hip-hop culture.
The 52-year-old rapper-and-actor and designer Alexander-John – who he created a limited edition T-shirt and hoodie with in June, with some of the profits going to the Black Lives Matter movement, following the death of unarmed black man George Floyd in police custody – have teamed up once again on the new collection.
The Rock the Bells franchise is expanding once again, with the launch of the new apparel line to celebrate the importance of the chain as a mode of expression throughout hip-hop’s history.
Alexander-John told WWD.com: “LL has been my idol since I was a kid and an inspiration to me as a young Black guy. This guy is everything you need to be as a guy. When I saw she was connected, we started having conversations and she said, ‘We’ve got to get you to do something for LL.’ The feeling was mutual. She made it happen.”
LL gushed: “He had his ear to the street and I thought the design was unique and special — adventurous but still disciplined — and I said, ‘I would love to have him work on a collection for us, something people are going to love.’”
The line – which includes hoodies, jogging bottoms and a duffle bag – was made in “homage” to the custom jewellery and graffiti which is “synonymous” to hip-hop culture
The sneaker designer said: “LL said we don’t have to reinvent the wheel, hip-hop is a classic, timeless thing and this is meant to bring homage to the culture.
“I said, ‘How do we bridge the gap between this generation and what LL was inspired by,’ and the chains are that synonymous thing — everybody understands getting their own custom jewellery made. I attacked it as an art form coming off graffiti and hip-hop with the chain representing that thing that a lot of rappers used to express their personal style and logos and what they stood for.”
And ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ star LL – whose wife Simone Smith has her own Simone I. Smith fine jewellery business – has teased the “natural progression” would be to actually create their own line of chains.
He said: “I don’t see any reason we can’t take it to that next step and do something real dope that is really nuanced and speaks to the culture and the audience we’re speaking to: fans of hip-hop who really love the culture.
“It’s not really an ethnic thing, it’s more of a psychographic thing about what people love. There are so many people who love hip-hop culture, so for me, eating it, sleeping it, breathing it every day, chains do seem like a natural progression.”
The Chain Collection will be available later today (09.12.20) and prices range between $75 to $495.

Jada Pinkett Smith reveals the secrets behind her glow

OHMYGOSSIP — Jada Pinkett Smith has revealed the secret behind her ageless glowing complexion is steaming.
The 49-year-old actress took to Instagram to share her skincare routine on Self-Care Sunday (06.12.20) and steaming between applying each product was the main step.
She said in the clip: “The steam opens your pores, moisturisers your skin and also loosens up whatever extra skin you have on your face.”
The ‘Girls Trip’ star also steams her neck and chest area as well.
She said: “Listen, try and get your chest and neck, too, because it’s all connected, especially for women.”
On steaming to achieve a radiant glow, she added: “Steam is so healthy for the skin. It’s the thing that gives you the glow, it’s the thing that keeps wrinkles away.”
The mother-of-two – who has Willow, 20, and Jaden, 22, with husband Will Smith – uses her restarter routine “once every two to three months” and especially after she comes home from a day of filming or on a photo shoot, such as when she got back from filming ‘The Matrix 4’ recently.
Jada – who is reprising her role Niobe in the hotly-anticipated fourth film in the blockbuster sci-fi franchise – captioned the post: “My Skin Restarter Routine
“Hopefully there is a little something in here for everyone on this #selfcaresunday.
“Here is one of my skin restarter routines that I use after wearing makeup everyday on shoots and so forth. I USE THIS ROUTINE ONCE EVERY 2 – 3 MONTHS. For instance… when I returned from shooting the Matrix, I hit this routine. (sic)”
Jada recently shared that she avoids drinking soda and juice and mainly has water to keep her skin super-hydrated.
She said: “I drink at least 8-9 bottles of water a day (sometimes more) I don’t drink soda or juices. Water is really ALL I drink. DIET IS SO IMPORTANT! We’ll get more into that … later. (sic)”

Maya Jama jokes she ‘turned into a sloth’ in lockdown

OHMYGOSSIP — Maya Jama has joked that she “turned into a sloth” in the UK’s first lockdown.
The 26-year-old presenter confessed she did very little exercise when the country shut down for the first time back in March, amid the coronavirus pandemic, and compared herself to the lazy creature.
Maya did, however, get in plenty of dancing around the house to lift her mood.
She spilled: “The first initial lockdown I basically turned into a sloth while everyone else was going on their journeys, jogs and home workouts. If anything you would be able to find me dancing around the house with really loud music. That is like my mood boosting home workout.”
The ‘Don’t Hate the Playaz’ panellist also admitted she came to realise that whenever she’s not working on TV or her newly-launched MIJ Masks business, all she does is drink alcohol.
She continued: “One thing I realised about myself is that if I’m not working, then all I want to do is drink, which is not great! I just thought.. ‘Oh! No work? Have a glass of wine!’ Which would turn to three, to five. So I think working is actually good for my physical health. However, it was a nice chance for me to actually have proper catch ups with my loved ones, like over the phone and zoom. It sort of allows us to bond rather than me going a million miles an hour and only focusing on the bag!”
Elsewhere, Maya opened up about how she switches up her train of thought when she’s not happy with how her hair or skin looks to focus on what does look great.
Maya added to GLAMOUR UK: “Realistically, you’re never going to be 100% happy with every single thing, 100% of the time. What has helped me, is talking myself through each step, focusing on what I do like, rather than what I don’t. So if my skin is being bad, I’ll think, ‘Okay, but my hair is healthy and looks cute today.’ I change up my thoughts, to take the focus off things that don’t make me feel good and onto things that do.”

Cardi B hits back after being criticised for wanting to buy a $88,000 handbag

OHMYGOSSIP — Cardi B has hit back after being criticised for considering spending $88,000 (£65,000) on a designer handbag.
The ‘I Like It’ rapper took to Twitter to ask her 15.4 million followers whether she should splash the cash on the luxury purse, but was met with some criticism by some, with one person suggesting she should donate the price of the accessory to a charity instead.
Cardi’s original tweet reads: “Should I spend 88K for this damn purse ? Omggg it’s tempting (sic)”
And after one user told her to give the money to a good cause, the ‘WAP’ hitmaker pointed out that she has already given $2 million in 2020 to charity.
She wrote back: “I already donated 2 million dollars this year and I’m doing something very special in a another country that will be done with next year. What have you donated ? (sic)”
The Grammy-winner – who has two-year-old daughter Kulture with husband Offset – also paid £1 million to fans on Cash App in October and has a large extended family who she has been supporting financially amid the coronavirus pandemic.
She wrote: “Also I donated a million dollars to fans thru cashapp 2 months ago (sic)”
Replying to her own tweet, she added: “Also I got 7 uncles an 3 aunts on my daddy side,9 aunts and 3 uncles on my momma side a whole bunch of cousins I had to help cause of the pandemic ….If I want to splurge I can with out yall asking for hand outs like me and my husband don’t do so.Thank you. (sic)”
Cardi defending her plans to buy the handbag comes after Offset recently defended his wife’s Hermés Birkin stash.
A viral tweet posted recently claimed that the iconic handbags are “losing their value” because Black female rappers make them less “exclusive”, and Offset hit back at the trolls, insisting “black people having access to luxury shouldn’t be a debate”.
He wrote online: “Stop letting people on the internet tell ya’ll who can get a Birkin at the store, and how many Birkin’s you can get. Black people having access to luxury shouldn’t be a debate … by the way hip hop starts the trends.”
Cardi had slammed the racist comments.
The ‘Bodak Yellow’ hitmaker fumed: “I’ve been seeing this tweet right. It had me and it had other female rappers on it. They were talking about if we could get Birkins from the Hermés store and they were also saying how we depreciate the value of a Hermés Birkin bag. I find that really interesting because, first thing first, I definitely could get a bag. Actually, I got four bags today from the Hermés store … Why are you questioning if Black women could get a bag from the Hermés store; y’all don’t do this to these white celebrities. So why is it that y’all gotta be asking us? What the f***? It just makes you want to brag like, ‘B**** do you know who the f*** you’re talking to?’ But no, I’m not even going to take it there.”

Dolly Parton can’t leave the house without her hair and make-up done

OHMYGOSSIP — Dolly Parton has to be “ambulance-ready at all times” as she can’t leave the house without her hair and make-up done.
The 74-year-old country music legend has admitted that she always makes sure she looks her best and has her glam done, just in case she ever got sick or there was an earthquake and she needed to leave the house in an emergency.
Speaking to RuPaul for Marie Claire’s festive digital edition – of which she is the cover star – the ‘Jolene’ hitmaker said: “I have to always stay ready—street ready, I always say. I have to keep my makeup on and keep my hair done.
“If it’s going to earthquake, if we get an earthquake, I’m not running out in the street looking like you now.
“I have to be ambulance-ready at all times, if I get sick or something.”
The ‘9 to 5’ singer previously revealed she even sleeps in her make-up.
She said last year: “You never know if you’re going to wreck the [tour] bus, you never know if you’re going to be somewhere in a hotel and there’s going to be a fire. So I leave my make-up on at night and clean my face in the morning.”
However, that doesn’t mean she isn’t comfortable in her own skin.
She told the publication: “But I can come down, though.
“I’m comfortable in my own skin; I’m comfortable with my image. I dress for myself more than I do for somebody else.”
Meanwhile, Dolly says she feels “more like [herself]” when she’s in high heels, but she also needs the height to be able to reach for things.
The pint-sized music icon – who is 5ft – said of her preferred choice of shoe: “They’re not always as high as the ones I wear for show. But I’m little. I’m short. And I have to wear heels in order to reach my cabinets. But I always enjoy wearing the shoes too, and I just feel more like me.”

Burberry pilots ReBurberry Fabric initiative to supply UK students with leftover materials

OHMYGOSSIP — Burberry has teamed up with the British Fashion Council on the pilot of the ReBurberry Fabric initiative to supply fashion students with recyclable materials.
The iconic British fashion house has today (08.12.20) launched the new programme with the help of fashion writers Charlie Porter and Sarah Mower.
Burberry will donate leftover fabrics to students across the UK who need it the most in their continued efforts to support creatives and encourage sustainability.
Pam Batty, Vice President of Corporate Responsibility at Burberry, said: “We are delighted to partner with the British Fashion Council to launch ReBurberry Fabric, as we continue to ensure we are meaningfully supporting the next generation of diverse voices across the country. Providing resources for these communities in a sustainable way will enable them to bring their creativity to life, and continue through their programmes with the tools they need. We look forward to seeing how donations can positively impact these academic institutions and students, and hope this is the beginning of a wider industry initiative to support these communities, now and in the future.”
Caroline Rush, CEO, British Fashion Council, said: “One of the BFC‘s priorities is to encourage the industry to move towards a circular fashion economy while supporting excellence in fashion design. We are delighted to work with Burberry, helping ensure students across the country have access to the best quality fabrics. I hope this is the beginning of a new conversation about how brands can take more responsibility for supporting future generations of designers.”
As per a press release, the aim is for the initiative to be “rolled out as an industry-wide programme, providing a blueprint for other brands and colleges to work together to provide practical support to future talent.”

Heidi Klum’s kids tell her when they think she’s flashing too much flesh

OHMYGOSSIP — Heidi Klum’s children will tell her if they think she’s flashing too much flesh on social media.
The 47-year-old German supermodel is “more open” with her body than ever before and even when her kids, Leni, 16, Henry, 15, Johan, 14, and Lou, 11 – whom she has with her ex-husband Seal – question the amount of skin she has on display, she always tells them: “I do me, you do you!”.
Speaking to People.com, the blonde beauty said: “I’m definitely more open with my body and I’m an outgoing person. I am from Germany and, you know, I don’t always tend to wear the most clothes, so sometimes they will give me a nudge and be like, ‘Mom, really?’ But I’m like, ‘Yeah, really. This is who I am. I do me, you do you!'”
Meanwhile, Heidi recently insisted she’s happy to be a little bigger at the moment after gaining weight amid the coronavirus pandemic, and has urged women everywhere to not compare themselves to other people, especially images posted on social media.
The ‘Germany’s Next Top Model’ host – who is married to musician Tom Kaulitz – said: “Don’t compare yourself to other people.
“If social media is making that hard, step away from it for a little bit.
“I also think that having a healthy relationship with food can help your self-esteem.
“For example, if I eat bad things I’ll feel sluggish and then I don’t want to do anything. But if I’ve had a good meal I feel fuelled and charged and I feel better about myself.”
