Stella McCartney wants retailer’s waste to make clothes

OHMYGOSSIP — Stella McCartney wants to use other retailer’s waste to make clothes.
The 49-year-old fashion designer – the daughter of Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney – recently launched a sustainable collection made from what was left from previous seasons and is now looking to collect leftover materials from other fashion brand’s to create future pieces.
She told Vogue: “A lot of these pieces are limited edition because when we run out, we run out. I don’t care if I’m cutting off my nose to spite my face, I’m going to save the bloody planet. We’ve got to find other people’s waste.”
Stella recently launched her pre-fall 2021 collection which includes recycled fleece, fusions between lingerie and swimwear known as Stellawear and new recyclable chains on her vegan Falabella bags.
She noted: “That’s 400,000 cows that haven’t been killed. When you start putting things into how much ocean plastic you’ve used, or how much rainforest you haven’t cut down, or how much water you haven’t used, it’s kind of amazing.”
Stella released an A-Z manifesto last year that sets out the label’s new guidelines and principles and explains that the fashion house is working towards an environmentally-friendly company with zero waste and upcycyling materials. Each letter has been inspired by a global artist, from her close friends Jeff Koons and William Eggleston to her own mother, Linda McCartney. She explained: “A for Accountable, C for Conscious, O for Organic, V for Vegan.”
She said: “During lockdown, I put into words what defines what we love, know and believe about fashion – an A to Z of Stella McCartney. It became a guiding alphabet to hold ourselves accountable for our values, what we do and where we want to go, while always producing the most desirable and sustainable fashion that can be cherished forever. In short, this manifesto reflects who we are, and who we hope to be.”

Donna Karan tests negative for COVID-19 after two-week battle with virus

OHMYGOSSIP — Donna Karan has tested negative for COVID-19, two weeks after testing positive for the virus.
The 72-year-old fashion designer – who created the Donna Karan New York and DKNY clothing labels respectively – revealed last month that she was diagnosed with the respiratory virus and hospitalised, just a few days after receiving the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
And in a video update to her Instagram followers issued over the weekend, Donna thanked the frontline healthcare workers for doing “the most amazing job” amid the pandemic, including all of the nurses who were “by her side for the past two weeks” as she battled coronavirus.
She captioned a clip from a snowy New York: “It’s been exactly two weeks since I was exposed to Covid and today I’m negative. I can’t thank the doctors, nurses and frontline workers enough who have for the past year cared for all the patients and loved ones. So happy to hear from Ray McGuire who is running for mayor @rayformayor in NYC. His commitment to healthcare has always been a top priority. God Bless you Ray – we hopefully can find the calm in the chaos and help support the care @urbanzen @urbanzen_uzit Thank you @rodneyyeeyoga @colleensaidman @rayformayor (sic)”
During her time at the hospital, the New Yorker witnessed the intense pressure healthcare workers are under amid the global health crisis and admitted what she saw is “unacceptable”.
Speaking during a virtual fundraising event on Instagram, Donna said: “I was in the hospital the other day. I have COVID-19. I experienced it and one of my biggest things has always been healthcare. Where is the care in healthcare? There is disease care. Who’s caring for the nurses? What I saw in these hospitals is unacceptable.”
Donna had captioned a post of her receiving the vaccine on January 26: “So grateful to be getting the @pfizerinc vaccine today at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Thank you to all the nurses and doctors who are helping in these efforts.”
Donna tested positive on January 30 and revealed her staff were also tested.
She wrote: “Well, we never think it’s going to ‘happen to me.’ I sure didn’t. But crazy enough, the day after getting the first vaccine, I was told I’d been exposed to COVID-19 a few days before, so my staff and I were tested …sure enough I was positive.”
Donna had also earlier shared a picture from the hospital and insisted she was “fine”, whilst she hailed the frontline doctors, nurses and hospital staff “heroes”.
The designer wrote: “I had a front row view of our frontline workers in action. I am fine and can’t reinforce enough my husband Stephan’s wishes to take care of the nurses. They took great care of me. And thank you to all the doctors, nurses, EMTs and hospital staff @mountsinainy. I couldn’t believe how much you were dealing with in the ER, waiting room and even the hallways. I honor what you do for all of us each and every day. You are my heroes!! (sic)”

The Weeknd rocked a Givenchy suit jacket dripping in crystals for the Super Bowl Halftime show

OHMYGOSSIP — The Weeknd’s custom Givenchy red suit jacket he wore for the Pepsi Super Bowl LV Halftime Show took 250 hours to complete.
The ‘I Feel It Coming’ hitmaker – who spent $7 million of his own money on the production for the starry performance – had four embroiderers working all hours on his jacket which was bedazzled with crystals for his show-stopping performance midway through the showpiece NFL final between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on Sunday (07.02.21).
Matthew Williams, Givenchy’s creative director, is quoted by WWD.com as saying: “It’s truly an honour to have dressed The Weeknd for his incredible Super Bowl show. To me, fashion is all about infusing what you wear with a unique personality, and The Weeknd brought his look to life with his energy, character and sense of style.”
The 30-year-old Canadian singer – whose real name is Abel Tesfaye – teamed the glittering jacket with a black cotton shirt and wool trousers.
The Weeknd put on a thrilling performance and had the Raymond James Stadium transformed into Sin City, as he performed a medley of his greatest hits.
He first appeared on stage in a floating black convertible surrounded by neon nights to recreate Las Vegas, before the stadium stands divided in the middle with the ‘False Alarm’ hitmaker appearing in between.
A masked-choir with robot masks with red lasers sang from the stands and The Weeknd stepped out in the red suit jacket his alter ego from ‘After Hours’ wears and performed ‘Starboy’.
True to his word, The Weeknd kept things family-friendly, as he went straight into a clean version of ‘The Hills’.
He then went back into the middle of the stands and entered a bedazzling mirrored maze and filmed himself singing ‘Can’t Feel My Face’.
A group of bandaged backing dancers in a similar red jacket then surrounded him.
The Weeknd then appeared in between the fake city skyline as he wowed with a rendition of ‘I Feel It Coming’.
After ‘Save Your Tears’ from his acclaimed LP ‘After Hours’ and an epic rendition of ‘Earned It’ from the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ soundtrack, featuring a string section, The Weeknd took fans on a trip down memory lane with one of his earliest hits, ‘House of Balloons/Glass Table Girls’, which he descended onto the field for with his troupe of bandaged lookalikes.
The eight-song set concluded with The Weeknd performing the biggest track of 2020, ‘Blinding Lights’.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing measures, there were no special guests this year, and The Weeknd and his crew performed largely off the field, while there was only a “fraction of the work force” to make the show go ahead safely.

Gisele Bundchen donned Tampa Bay jumper to cheer on Tom Brady at Super Bowl

OHMYGOSSIP — Gisele Bundchen donned a Tampa Bay jumper to cheer on her husband Tom Brady at the Super Bowl.
The 43-year-old quarterback claimed his seventh title as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat Kansas City Chiefs to win the Vince Lombardi Trophy at the showpiece NFL final at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Florida, on Sunday (07.02.21).
And he had his lucky charm there to support him, the 40-year-old model – who he tied the knot with in 2009 – who rocked a black long-sleeve emblazoned with the Buccaneers logo and “Go Bucs!” emblazoned across it.
Alongside a selfie in her custom top, the blonde beauty – who has Vivian, eight, and Benjamin, 11, with Tom, and is step mom to his son John, 13, from a previous relationship – wrote: “Let’s go Bucs!!!!!!! Let’s go papai!!! #LFG #superbowl (sic)”
Gisele teamed her shirt with a black mask with Tom’s number 12 in red.
Meanwhile, Tom was upstaged by his daughter after he led his team to victory.
Though all eyes should have been on him, it was Vivian who stole the show during the post-game celebrations.
CBS aired footage of the delighted youngster jumping up and down on stage during the trophy presentation, as well as grabbing handfuls of confetti and throwing it at her brothers.
And after Tom was handed his trophy, Vivian reached out for it and he eventually passed it over to her – meaning she got to hold the award before many of her dad’s teammates had touched it.
During the presentation, the sportsman was asked about getting to enjoy the victory with his kids.
He said: “They started off about this big, and now look at ’em. So I’m trying to stop the little clock right now, but it will be nice to celebrate with them, too.”
Gisele also shared video footage on her Instagram Story of all three kids celebrating the win from their suite within the stadium, with both boys wearing replicas of their dad’s jersey.

Dolly Parton dropped perfume ad during Super Bowl

OHMYGOSSIP — Dolly Parton dropped a perfume ad during the Super Bowl.
The 75-year-old country music icon promoted her new fragrance, Dolly Scent From Above, during the third quarter of the NFL showpiece at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, where the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ultimately defeated the Kansas City Chiefs to win the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
The Squarespace commercial aired featuring the ‘Jolene’ singer performing a new take on her mega-hit ‘9 to 5’ called ‘5 to 9’.
She sings: “Working 5 to 9, you’ve got passion and a vision.”
Dolly captioned a clip of the ad on Instagram: “Work #5to9 on your passion projects with the help of @squarespace! Visit the link in my bio and tune in to the #SuperBowl this Sunday #ad (sic)”
The ‘Island In the Stream’ hitmaker’s fans can get their hands on samples of the scent for $10, which can be used as credit towards the purchase of a full-size bottle when it goes on sale in July.
The fragrance – which comes enclosed in a rose pink bottle with a butterfly for a lid – boasts notes of mandarin, pear, jasmine, and patchouli.
Dolly has long-dreamed of releasing her own perfume.
A statement on the website for the product reads: “Having my own perfume has always been a dream of mine. For as long as I can remember, people have commented on my scent. ‘What are you wearing?’, ‘What is that fantastic smell?,’ and ‘Where can I get it?’ are all questions I have heard daily for more years than I can remember.
“The truth is, I have been blending my own scent for years. It’s a combination of bath oils, powders and perfumes that have become my “signature” and is known everywhere I go. It’s time for me to share this with you. I hope you enjoy!”
Dolly previously revealed she would be releasing a perfume with Edge Beauty as she is set to launch her own beauty line.
She said: “Fragrance has always played a major role in my life—I wear my own combination of scents every day. “Developing my own brand and scent with Edge Beauty has been an amazing experience, and I am looking forward to becoming a big part of the fragrance community.”
Edge Beauty boss, Steve Mormoris, explained that they would offer a unique way for customers to try out the fragrance before they buy it, amid the Covid-19 pandemic, when testers aren’t available in stores. On how they’ve adapted, he added: “We know that people like to scent their hair, clothes, homes, as well as their own skin. “So we’re working on a multiplicity of olfactory forms that will indicate the fragrance value. Consumers will be able to try the fragrance through discovery-size vials at an accessible price prior to the purchase of a full size, because if someone doesn’t want to leave their home but wants to try the fragrance, and there aren’t testers in stores, then we have to adapt.”

Hailey Bieber to launch beauty brand Rhode this year?

OHMYGOSSIP — Hailey Bieber is seemingly set to launch a beauty brand called Rhode this year.
The 24-year-old model set up an Instagram page called Rhode – a nod to her middle name – and in the bio it teases that something is coming in 2021.
The account already has over 15,000 followers at the time of writing and is followed by Hailey.
Hailey and Justin, 26, previously tried to trademark Bieber Beauty with the United States Patent Office, however, it was rejected due to being too similar to previous trademarks submitted by her husband, pop megastar Justin Bieber.
Hailey’s lawyers had insisted that Bieber Beauty has an “aura” that is “suggestive of a look, a lifestyle [and] an image … in which Mrs. Bieber walks.”
However, they decided to ditch it altogether in the end and opt for Rhode, according to Page Six Style.
The Rhode trademark, with the same logo as the Instagram profile, includes beauty and wellness products such as deodorants, perfumes, haircare, and moisturisers and cleansers.
In September 2019, Hailey opened up about the Bieber Beauty trademark being rejected and hinted it could be a joint venture for the pair.
She said at the time: “Everybody thought the name was already taken, but actually my husband owns it.
“I couldn’t register it myself, because Justin owns all trademarking for his last name.
“Honestly, that was more about being proactive. I’m not sure how I want to dip into that space and it’s been a conversation between me and my husband.
“He thinks that’s a space I should explore and I think it’s actually a space that he could explore men’s-wise.”
Hailey also insisted she’d want to work on skincare, rather than cosmetics because make-up is such a “saturated space”, while hailing the beauty empires fronted by the likes of Kylie Jenner and Rihanna.
She added: “I’d probably start with skincare and body. I’m such a big skin person and I love being in the sun and I love body lotion and hair products. I would probably go that way first before I would do make-up. Kylie’s done such a great job with what she’s doing with her brand [Kylie Cosmetics], Rihanna is doing such a great job with what she’s doing with her brand [Fenty Beauty by Rihanna]. Then you’ve got Pat McGrath Labs and Charlotte Tilbury – it’s a very saturated space.”

Gigi Hadid insists she’s never had cosmetic surgery and only contours her face

OHMYGOSSIP — Gigi Hadid says the “power of make-up” is the only reason her face appears to change shape.
The supermodel – who has daughter Khai, five months, with partner Zayn Malik – has revealed that people started to point out that her features, such as her nose, looked different, and she’s explained that ever since she started having a make-up artist do her glam for red carpet events, they contour her face.
She explained: “In high school I wasn’t really a huge make-up person. The more I got photographed, the more I learned what looked good on me.
“When I look back on my first red carpets, when I didn’t have make-up artists, I would obviously do my make-up. Now people pull up those pictures and are like, ‘Oh, Gigi’s nose looks different in those pictures than now,’ and it’s really, like, that’s the power of make-up.”
The 25-year-old catwalk beauty insisted she has never had cosmetic surgery.
She added to Vogue in a beauty routine tutorial video: “I’ve never done anything to my face, but the way that I’ve learned to contour in certain places [helps]. I would just put [bronzer] everywhere and then [your face] is all one shape.”
Meanwhile, Gigi recently paid a touching tribute to her make-up artist, Erin Parsons, who has taught her everything she knows.
The blonde beauty wished her “partner in make-up” – who she worked with on developing her Maybelline collection – a happy birthday and hailed her both a “make-up genius” and a “great friend”.
She wrote alongside a snap of Erin doing her glam in 2015 at Anna Sui: “Happy Birthday to my partner in makeup (she helped so much in the development of GIGI x MAYBELLINE collection) and while creating many of my dream-come-true glam looks, has taught me so much about makeup, makeup history, fashion history, old hollywood, I could go on.
“In my opinion, she’s a makeup genius @erinparsonsmakeup (sic)”
Gigi admitted Erin’s glam looks always boost her “confidence”.
She continued: “We became friendly & her makeup always made me feel confident – so, whenever I knew she would be backstage at a show, I would be quick to her chair.”

‘Now my goal is to not get hurt’: Cindy Crawford ditches ‘tough workouts’

OHMYGOSSIP — Cindy Crawford has ditched “tough workouts”.
The 54-year-old supermodel has opened up about her journey with exercise and her diet over the years, and admitted she used to get “annoyed” seeing Kate Moss, 47, eating fast food and smoking cigarettes and still staying the same size, because if she overindulged and didn’t change her eating habits, she wouldn’t fit in the outfits she models.
Cindy told the March issue of Red magazine – of which she is the cover star – that: “I don’t like the word ‘diet’, but I still choose to eat well. I was never one of the people who could eat what I wanted – even I used to get annoyed when Kate Moss would be eating a burger and fries and smoking a cigarette! When I moved to New York, I knew I was going to have to change the way I ate or I wouldn’t be able to get into the clothes – and, by the way, the clothes were much bigger then than the sample sizes now. But the way I’ve exercised has changed.”
The ‘Fair Game’ star – whose children, Presley, 21, and Kaia, 19, whom she has with husband Rande Gerber, followed her into modelling – explained how after she had kids she relied on exercise to “energise” her, and now the “goal” is to not “get hurt” by doing less rigorous routines.
She continued: ” In my 20s, I would workout hard and flop down on the couch. Then, I had little kids and realised my workouts couldn’t tire me any more, they actually had to energise me instead. Now my goal is not to get hurt. So, I have added a lot more stretching and Pilates, and I don’t feel as compelled to do those tough workouts any more.”
Cindy also opened up about embracing her “insecurities and flaws” as she’s gotten older.
She said: “When you’re young, you have the beauty and strength of youth, but you’re really hard on yourself and you haven’t done the work on the inside yet. As you get older, you’ve figured out who you are, but you’re thinking, ‘That’s not where it used to be any more!’ Maybe that’s the point – having insecurities and flaws is what makes us human.”

Tracee Ellis Ross named Ulta Beauty diversity and inclusion advisor

OHMYGOSSIP — Tracee Ellis Ross has a new role as diversity and inclusion advisor at Ulta Beauty.
The ‘High Note’ star – who is the daughter of music legend Diana Ross – has partnered with the beauty retailer to work with them on making sure they are supporting black-owned businesses and in their efforts to be a fully-inclusive outlet.
Tracee said in a statement: “I look forward to formalising an already existing dialogue and partnership around diversity and inclusion with [Ulta Beauty CEO] Mary Dillon and the Ulta Beauty team. This work requires commitment and accountability from Ulta Beauty to ensure measurable goals are achieved. I am hopeful and optimistic our work together will create foundational change.”
Ulta has vowed to spend $4 million marketing businesses owned by people of colour, whilst they will offer extra training to staff at their stores so they are better equipped with understanding the needs of their customers from different ethnic groups.
Meanwhile, Tracee – who owns haircare brand Pattern – recently opened up about her journey to learning to love her hair.
The 48-year-old actress admitted it took her some time to grow to embrace her locks and she still faces challenges with it but she has come to love her tresses, although she is not yet ready to embrace her greys.
She explained in December: “My hair has played many a role throughout my life. When I was a teen, I didn’t understand it so I tried everything under the sun to make it do what I thought it should. The results were not great. Namely, it was fried. But, once I began listening to my hair and started figuring out what it liked, my true curl pattern emerged. By the time I made it onto Girlfriends my hair was healthy and POPPIN. But as I have grown and matured my texture has evolved.
“My hair is now turning grey (evidence of my life and my years). And while the grey has changed my texture and the dye I use to cover it has loosened my pattern, I finally know my hair inside and out. I know what she likes, what she doesn’t like, and how she’ll react in any given situation. And while I’m not ready to embrace the grey just yet, I’m sure that will be exciting when I do! (sic)”

Lucy Boynton reveals the craziest beauty treatment she’s had

OHMYGOSSIP — Lucy Boynton says the craziest thing she’s ever done for beauty is being “rolled up like a burrito” in an “infrared” body wrap.
The ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ star has revealed she’s had celebrity aesthetician Cynthia Franco’s Head-to-Toe Glow treatment, a major detox that starts at the face and heads down to the person’s extremities.
It’s said to burn up to 1,000 calories a session and leaves clients with a radiant glow all over.
In an interview with Elle.com, the 27-year-old actress – who is in a relationship with Rami Malek – said when asked what the strangest treatment she’s ever had is: “…the Head To Toe Glow by Cynthia Franco – basically being rolled up like a burrito in an infrared wrap to help detoxify the body.”
Elsewhere, the ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ star insisted she only takes 20 minutes to do her make-up and keeps the products she uses to a minimum, but she loves to bring out her eyes with a blue mascara.
Asked about her beauty routine, she said: “…takes 20 minutes. I don’t wear much, just a little La Mer concealer, my Jane Iredale powder and a Burt’s Bees tinted lip balm. I love blue Chanel mascara for a bit of colour, too.”
Lucy added that she is her happiest when “spending hours in the bath reading or setting up my laptop to watch a series. I’m such a bath person.”
And she relaxes and de-stresses by “calling my very, very patient mother or writing my problems down – it’s so therapeutic to leave everything on the page, rather than carry the weight of it around with you.”

Billy Porter wants his red carpet outfits to make a ‘clear’ statement

OHMYGOSSIP — Billy Porter wants to ensure his red carpet outfits deliver “a clear” message.
The ‘Pose’ star – who dubbed himself a “walking piece of political art” – revealed he’s working with his new stylist Ty Hunter to make sure whatever he’s trying to say through his clothes is obvious.
Speaking on E! News’ ‘Daily Pop’, he said: “You know, I am now working with Ty Hunter who is my new stylist, and we really, through quarantine, have been able to just get a handle on and get in the driver’s seat of the train that took off.
He continued: “It just took off so quick that like, you know, I just wanted to make sure that what I’m saying as I walk onto these red carpets, into the events – as a walking piece of political art, that’s what I’m trying to be every time – that we’re clear.”
The 51-year-old actor has gone viral with his bold ensembles at the Oscars, the Met Gala, and Tonys.
He rocked a diamond suit with a floral train representing a uterus to symbolise his pro-choice stance on women’s abortion rights at the 2019 Tonys.
While at the Academy Awards that same year, Billy rocked a black gown with a tuxedo jacket over the top by Christian Siriano, with the aim of challenging society’s idea of masculinity.
Billy previously said he puts outfits together by defining the event and creating a deeper meaning with his style.
He explained: “We decide by first trying to define what the moment is. What the event is about and then we go from there. I’m a very story-oriented person coming from being an actor, so I always try to have a narrative for myself so that there is always a reason and there’s always a point. I want to be a walking piece of art – political art – whenever I can, any time I show up. I let other people say that [I’m a fashion icon]. You know, show business is hard because you borderline on confidence and arrogance, so I’m trying to be on the confidence side. I’m going to let other people call me a fashion icon at least for the next couple of years and then I’ll do it myself. But that’s what people are saying.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Andie MacDowell is “loving” being a “silver fox”.
The 62-year-old actress – who has Justin, 35, Margaret, 26, and Rainey, 30, with ex-husband Paul Qualley – has embraced her natural silver locks in lockdown and is feeling “badass” after her daughters called her new hairdo just that.
Appearing on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’, she said: “I wasn’t colouring my hair and you could see my roots, and my daughters kept telling me that I looked badass. And that idea that I could look badass appealed to me.
“So I went for it, and I’m loving it.”
The ‘Love After Love’ star admitted she prefers her hair to be referred to as silver and not grey and is happy to be called “a silver fox”, which is typically used for men.
She recalled: “When I first did it I went to the grocery store because we had no place to go and I thought I looked good, and I saw a man there … A guy you see and go, ‘He’s a silver fox.’
“I immediately just put my shoulders back, and I was like, ‘And so am I.’ We kind of shot a look at each other and I was like, ‘I’m a silver fox.’”
And Andie insisted she’s not “letting herself go” by not dyeing her hair.
On her decision to embrace her natural hair, she added: “It’s not that I’m letting myself go, I don’t think of it that way.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Groundhog Day’ star previously credited getting “nine hours sleep” and practicing yoga with staying young.
The movie star revealed her secrets to maintaining her age-defying physique and glowing skin is getting a good amount of sleep, drinking “lots” of water and eating a protein-filled diet which makes her “feel good” about her body.
She said in 2018: “I think about longevity, and I take care of myself. My cholesterol’s good. I advocate nine hours sleep. Do yoga. Hike every day. I watch my interior life and well-being. And I feel good about myself.
“I stay hydrated. Drink lots of water. Juice daily with fresh lemon and celery. I’m O-positive so I can and do eat meat. I stay size 4-to-6.”
