Cynthia Erivo’s Billboard Music Awards jewellery featured a hidden ruby with special powers

OHMYGOSSIP — Cynthia Erivo’s Roberto Coin jewellery she wore to the Billboard Music Awards featured a hidden ruby which touched the skin to bring her “peace, prosperity and happiness”.
The 34-year-old star’s stylist, Jason Bolden, has revealed every detail about the ‘Bad Times at the El Royale’ actress’ ensemble for the awards show in Los Angeles on Sunday (23.05.21), including the unique hidden message behind her jewellery.
Jason spilled: “The jewellery is all by Roberto Coin. I wanted something bold to complete the look but also feel very classic. Anytime I think of classic jewellery, I think of Roberto Coin. I love the jewellery because every piece has a hidden ruby and a hidden meaning. I feel it is often a secret only myself and the talent know, but Roberto Coin puts a hidden ruby in every piece so it touches the woman’s skin. By doing this, it brings her peace, prosperity and happiness. How can you go wrong with that? That ruby represents the hidden fire in all my talent and especially Cynthia.”
For her gown, Cynthia rocked a custom black and white Carolina Herrera polka dot number.
Her stylist added to InStyle: “We wanted it to be about volume, leg, and drop dead jewellery. The dress is a custom Carolina Herrera, having fun with polka dots. Carolina has polka dot heritage and no one does it better. I wanted to make a statement that a petite girl can wear volume and wear whatever your heart desires.”
On what the inspiration for the outfit was, Jason explained: “I wanted bring full on glamour back with a party feel to it. Cynthia embraces the flamboyance, the fun, and the fantastic dance party vibe.”

Kanye West’s Yeezy Gap line to launch in June

OHMYGOSSIP — Kanye West’s Yeezy Gap line is reportedly set to launch in June.
According to Business of Fashion, the 43-year-old rapper and Yeezy founder’s clothing collection with the US retailer is weeks away from being unveiled.
Last summer, it was revealed that the ‘Stronger’ hitmaker had signed a 10-year deal with Gap for the new apparel line for men, women and children.
He tweeted at the time: “YEEZY AND GAP FORM PARTNERSHIP #WESTDAYEVER.”
Kanye’s now-estranged wife Kim Kardashian West, also wrote on Twitter: “If anyone knows Kanye they know how much the Gap and Yeezy means to him so this partnership is his dream come true! I am so proud of him. You guys are going to love what they have in store for everyone! #WestDayEver (sic).”
As a teen, Kanye worked in a Gap store in Chicago and Mark Breitbard, Global Head of Gap Brand, said in a press release: “We are excited to welcome Kanye back to the Gap family as a creative visionary, building on the aesthetic and success of his Yeezy brand and together defining a next-level retail partnership.”
It was also previously reported that the deal is for 10 years with an option to renew after five.
The brand reportedly hopes that Yeezy Gap will rake in $1 billion in sales within five years and the company will pay royalties and potential equity to Yeezy based on sales performance.
Kanye previously spoke of his desire to be the “Steve Jobs of Gap” and admitted he couldn’t afford the clothes when he worked there.
He said: “It’s funny that I worked at the Gap in high school, because in my past 15 years it seems like that’s the place I stood in my creative path — to be the gap, the bridge.
“When I was working at the Gap at 15, I don’t think I had any desire to actually make clothes, but I always felt like that’s what I wanted to be around. I loved the fabrics, I loved the colours, I loved the proportions.
“Abercrombie was too expensive for me and the Gap was too expensive for me. Even though I worked at the Gap, I didn’t get enough hours to get a discount because I was a part-time employee, because I went to high school.”

Ashley – who has son Isaac, 16 months, with husband Justin Ervin – said: “I feel like it’s better to have a faux tan than one that the sun gave you, just because it’s better for your skin. And I’ve learned that the hard way many a time.
“For me, being tan makes me just feel confident. I feel like I want to be naked more.
“It doesn’t matter that I’m still 25 pounds up from Isaac, from being pregnant. Like, I’m like, ‘Look at me!’ … It’s like a confidence-booster to have an extra glow.”
The catwalk beauty also revealed that she didn’t stop tanning when she was pregnant.
She added to E!: “I used it when I was pregnant.
“You can do one layer and have a little sun kiss, or you can do a couple layers and leave it on for three hours and be like ultra, ultra tan.”
Meanwhile, Ashley recently vowed to “never change” a thing about her body.
The model has been encouraging her TikTok followers to celebrate their bodies and give a shout-out to the parts of themselves they love the most.

Gabrielle Union hits back: Valentino gifted my daughter $3,790 bag

OHMYGOSSIP — Gabrielle Union has hit back at critics who assumed she bought her two-year-old daughter a $3,790 Valentino bag.
The 48-year-old actress faced a backlash on social media for sharing a video of Kaavia – whom she has with Dwayne Wade – opening the designer accessory on TikTok, and she has now explained how the label sent her little girl a mini-me version of the adult-sized bag and she has been “sleeping with it” ever since.
She told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “Valentino was kind enough to send us mommy-and-daughter matching bags. So for everyone who thought I bought my child a $3,000-plus bag when she can’t poop in the potty on her own – um, no. She’s been literally sleeping with it.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Bring It On’ star donned an embellished white Prada dress and Bulgari jewellery for the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday (23.05.21), which received approval from fashionista Kaavia.
Gabrielle revealed: “She thought I looked very pretty. She was like, white dress. And I was like, good? And she was like, ‘You look pretty, Mommy.’
“It felt so good just to get out of the house. You know, there were a couple tears from Kaav at the door. She’s like, ‘Have fun, Mom.'”
Gabrielle is teaching her daughter and her stepdaughter, Zaya, 13, to be “proud of their Blackness and Afrocentric features” after she felt like the odd one out when she was at school as the only black person in her class.
She said: “Some days Kav will hand you her brush and she’ll want a little afro puff. And some days she just wants to wake up and go. “And Zaya went from pink hair to blonde. If you want to switch it up every day, great. What you do with your hair is your own personal choice. For me, the focus is on healthy hair, not on what you do with it.
“Your hair is a part of you and it’s an extension of you, but it has to start with self-love and pride in your Blackness and Afrocentric features, whether that be your hair, your nose, your lips or your body.”

Cat Deeley’s silky secret

OHMYGOSSIP — Cat Deeley’s blow dry lasts “for days” now she has switched to silk pillowcases.
The ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ presenter has revealed one of the tricks to her glossy mane is to rest her head on one of the hypoallergenic pillow covers from The Big Silk.
She said of the products: “Your blow dry will last for days.”
‘Love Island’ star Megan Barton-Hanson is also a fan of the company’s hair products, including soft silk scrunchies in various sizes and a beauty band to hold back her locks when she’s applying her make-up, because she’s trying to better protect her tresses.
She said: “I’m trying to look after my hair, so I’m using these silk products.”
But Rosie Fortescue warned beauty-lovers won’t want to go back to their old hair accessories if they try The Big Silk’s products.
She said: “Once you try silk, it’s so hard to go back.”
The company – which counts the likes of Ashley Roberts and Vanessa Hudgens as fans – only launched six months ago out of founder Abigail Benton’s desire to get through her beauty routine quicker while avoiding shortcuts that would be less gentle on her hair and skin.
She explained: “The Big Silk was born from my lifelong need to speed up my morning beaty routine, and to be kinder to my hair and skin in the process.
“Like most women, I’ve always found the low-maintenance, high-quality glow up that my schedule demands to be a struggle.

Skepta loves using charcoal face masks

OHMYGOSSIP — Skepta loves to use charcoal face masks.
The 38-year-old rapper likes to treat his skin after a “heavy week” by indulging in a facial that lifts his face and leaves him with smooth skin.
He told British Vogue: “I love a charcoal face mask once in a while – when my face has had a heavy week and it is looking unlevelled. I like to get a facial – I see Nichola Joss. She’s great.”
However, Skepta usually keeps his skincare routine simple by opting for black soap from Nigeria to wash his face in the morning with cold water and moisturises with shea butter.
He continued: “I go to Nigeria a lot so I always like to collect a couple of bars of black soap and a couple of tubs of shea butter. I’ll just use cold water with black soap. And then I moisturise my face with shea butter – I don’t know what it is about the combination of the two but it just locks everything in. I also drink as much water as I can.”
The ‘That’s Not Me’ hitmaker – who is the face of Diesel’s Sound of the Brave fragrance for men – believes that a fresh smelling fragrance is the “final piece of the puzzle” when he gets ready in the morning.
Asked about his favourite fragrance, he said: “Sound of the Brave by Diesel – I like fresh smells. I like the smell of a newly cleaned kitchen and the smell of lemon. And it has the lemon smell in there, as well as lavender, and it also has bison grass as a top note. It’s just one of those smells that makes you smell cleaner, it complements that time when you get out of the shower and put on deodorant, like the final piece of the puzzle.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Erin O’Connor was diagnosed with PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) as a result of the criticism she faced over her skinny figure.

Erin is quoted by the Sebastian Shakespeare for the Daily Mail newspaper column as saying: “I ended up in a very politicised spot for quite some time regarding the modelling industry and models’ health.
“After years of being subjected to daily opinions on my body, it was quite traumatic.

OHMYGOSSIP — Jean Paul Gaultier has teased “the end” of an era.
The Instagram account for the French fashion house’s bio now reads: “The end of an era.”
The page also cryptically posted a graphic of “the end” and the JPG logo underneath it.
The label is yet to confirm the significance of its mystery “the end” post.
It comes after Gaultier, 69, announced his retirement in January 2020.
The iconic designer launched his business in 1982 and introduced his first couture collection in 1997, but revealed that his January 2020 show, during Paris Fashion Week, would be his last.
Writing on Twitter alongside a video at the time, he said: “This show celebrating 50 years of my career will also be my last. But rest assured Haute Couture will continue with a new concept.”
In the clip, Gaultier explained that his final show would be “quite a party”.
Speaking in French, he said: “Hi! This is Jean Paul Gaultier. I invite you to celebrate my 50 years in fashion at the Théâtre du Châtelet on the 22nd of January. Coming?
“It’s going to be quite a party with many of my friends and we’re going to have fun until very very late. Now I am going to share something with you. This will be my last Haute Couture show. Be there! You can’t miss this.”
The fashion muse later took to Instagram to reveal the “new concept” for his line, saying he will invite a designer to “interpret the codes of the House” each season, the first being Chitose Abe.
Gaultier – who also previously served as the creative director at French luxury house Hermes for womenswear – wrote on the photo-sharing platform: “I have the pleasure to announce the new concept for my Haute Couture. Abe is due to unveil the collection in July during Haute Couture Week in Paris.
The designer said in a previous statement: “I have a long-held admiration for Jean Paul’s unique vision of subversive femininity and his originality, both of which I’ve strived towards in my work since the beginning. The Weeknd hangs up his red suit at 2021 Billboard Music Awards

OHMYGOSSIP — The Weeknd officially retired his red suit at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards.
The 31-year-old superstar – who took home 10 prizes – stepped out at the awards show at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday (23.05.21) sporting a lengthy black coat and trousers by Bottega Veneta, complete with a white shirt and grey tie.
Although he wore a raincoat and Valentino hat for his remote BRIT Awards performance earlier this month, it marked the first time the ‘Save Your Tears’ hitmaker – whose real name is Abel Tesfaye – sported a different ensemble to his ‘After Hours’ era look to an in-person ceremony.
At the end of his acceptance speech for Top Hot 100 Artist, The Weeknd declared: “I’d like to thank God I don’t have to wear that red suit anymore.”
His red suit for his fourth studio album was complete with gloves and a face bandage.
The ‘Blinding Lights’ hitmaker wore the costume for his Super Bowl halftime performance, the MTV Video Music Awards and the AMAs.
The Weeknd – who has also appeared with face prosthetics – explained how the bandages reflect the absurdity of celebrities, who get plastic surgery and manipulate their appearance for validation.
He said: “The significance of the entire head bandages is reflecting on the absurd culture of Hollywood celebrity and people manipulating themselves for superficial reasons to please and be validated.
“It’s all a progression and we watch The Character’s storyline hit heightened levels of danger and absurdity as his tale goes on.”
The Weeknd – who was snubbed by the Grammys earlier this year – was also named Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top R&B Artist and Top R&B Male Artist.
Mega-hit ‘Blinding Lights’ claimed the Top Hot 100 Song, Top Radio Song and Top R&B Song prizes, and his album ‘After Hours’ was crowned Top R&B Album.
While accepting the biggest accolade of the night, Top Artist, The Weeknd said: “I do not take this for granted. Thank you.”

Christy Turlington Burns is ‘more bendy’ than ever before

OHMYGOSSIP — Christy Turlington Burns is “more bendy” now than ever before.
The 52-year-old supermodel has revealed her flexibility has gotten better with age due to years of yoga practice.
She told the ‘Ladies First with Laura Brown’ podcast: “I would say I’m more bendy [now] in some ways just because I’m so consistent with my practice now. I mean, there are certain things I could naturally do when I was 18 starting to practice yoga, but over time and over working on a computer, hunched over and giving birth probably, it was harder for me to do certain things like back-bendy things. I just didn’t like them. Now, I love them.”
Christy launched Every Mother Counts, a non-profit organisation to improve medical care for women all over the world, in 2010.
And she has become more selective over the modelling work she takes on.
She said: “I own a non-profit and I don’t take a salary.”
Christy’s charity work has landed her several prestigious awards, including being named in British Vogue’s “special” ‘Forces For Change’ issue in 2019.
The brunette beauty was one of 15 inspirational women featured on the cover of the fashion bible’s prestigious fall issue, alongside Adwoa Aboah, Gemma Chan, Laverne Cox, Jane Fonda, Salma Hayek and Jameela Jamil, which was guest edited by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
Christy admitted she felt humbled that the royal – who was known as Meghan Markle before her marriage to Prince Harry – and British Vogue’s Editor-in-Chief, Edward Enninful, recognised her “advocacy efforts” for Every Mother Counts.
She said on Instagram at the time: “It’s truly an honor to be one of the 15 women featured on the September cover of @britishvogue’s #ForcesforChange issue.
“Every cover I have shot for this magazine since my first in 1986 has been special and with each cover shoot and story there’s a greater story behind it. This one is uniquely different than all the others because a. it’s 34 years later and b. I share it with women I have admired and respected from a distance.
“This cover has brought us virtually closer and has helped to amplify our individual voices by bringing us together. The reason I started @everymomcounts, the organization I founded in 2010, is my belief that every woman deserves the same access to safe and respectful maternity care and that every mother deserves the chance to not only survive pregnancy and childbirth but also to thrive in motherhood.
“Thank you @sussexroyal & @edward_enninful for the recognition not only of me and my advocacy efforts but for seeing the importance of the inclusion of maternal health among the other global challenges and barriers we are collectively working to break down. @therealpeterlindbergh @therealgracecoddington @bartpumpkin @diane.kendal (sic)”

Rihanna’s UK fashion firm is worth £27m

OHMYGOSSIP — Rihanna’s UK fashion firm is now worth a whopping £27 million.
According to new accounts filed for the ‘We Found Love’ hitmaker’s Denim UK Holdings, the company has assets totalling £27,309,757.
The firm was launched in 2018 when Rihanna’s Fenty label landed a deal with Louis Vuitton.
In February, the singer’s Savage X Fenty lingerie line was revealed to be worth $1 billion (£719 million).
A second round of funding for the brand secured a whopping $115 million (£82.7 million) for Savage X Fenty, with L Catterton, a private equity firm that fashion house LVMH has a stake in, taking out a stake in the line.
In a joint statement, LVMH and Rihanna said: “Following the completion of the fundraising round where L Catterton took a stake in Savage X Fenty, LVMH and Rihanna reaffirmed their ambition to concentrate on the growth and the long-term development of Fenty ecosystem focusing on cosmetics, skincare, and lingerie.”
Last year, Savage X Fenty saw revenue growth of more than 200% and “increased its active VIP member base by more than 150%.”
The line was launched in 2018 and is anticipated to be the market’s leader by 2025.
As well as a successful lingerie business, Rihanna has lucrative Fenty Skin and Fenty Beauty lines.
However, the clothing arm of the Fenty empire was recently put “on hold”.
The ‘Diamonds’ hitmaker launched the luxury fashion line in 2019 with LVMH.
However, after two years, they made the joint decision to close down the fashion business to focus on cosmetics and lingerie.
In a statement issued last week, LVMH said: “Rihanna and LVMH have jointly made the decision to put on hold the RTW activity, based in Europe, pending better conditions. Following the completion of a fundraising round where L Catterton has taken a stake into Savage X Fenty, LVMH and Rihanna reaffirm their ambition to concentrate on the growth and the long-term development of [the] Fenty ecosystem focusing on cosmetics, skincare and lingerie.”
The Fenty clothing label was tailored to the high-end market, whereas Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty is more affordable.
The last collection was in November and saw Rihanna team up with popular designer Amina Muaddi on a range of heels.

Prince’s shoe collection go on display for limited time at Paisley Park

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince’s shoe collection is set to go on display at Paisley Park.
‘The Beautiful Collection: Prince’s Custom Shoes’ exhibition will see 300 pairs of the late music icon’s prized footwear showcased at his former residence-turned museum in Minnesota, between July 9 and September 6.
Many of the shoes were custom-made for his iconic performances, including a pair of bold blue boots with hand-painted clouds in homage of the ‘Raspberry Beret’ music video and a pair of heels inspired by ‘Purple Rain’.
Mitch Maguire, Paisley Park Managing Director and ‘The Beautiful Collection’ Curator, said in a statement: “Prince continuously pushed the boundaries of fashion, music, and culture in general.
“His expansive, incredible shoe collection is just one example of his artistic expression, personality, and lasting impact on fashion. When guests visit this exhibition, they will be immersed in the drama, taste, and complexity of Prince while also revealing some of the collaborators who worked so closely to bring his vision to life.”
As well as getting the chance to see the footwear in the flesh, attendees can also watch back video footage of the ‘When Doves Cry’ hitmaker rocking the shoes, and designers Donatella Versace, Andre No.1 and Cos Kyriacou giving the lowdown on how they crafted the one-off footwear.
The exhibition news comes after The Prince Estate and Urban Decay announced an upcoming make-up capsule collection inspired by the Purple One.
A press release teased “never-before-seen essentials inspired by [Prince’s] iconic style and unparalleled self-expression.”
The limited-edition products will arrive on May 27.
As part of UD’s Live Loud in Color campaign, the brand will honour Prince’s career with the collection, which will come in his “signature colour highlighted alongside gold and black”.
The ‘Kiss’ hitmaker’s close friend and muse, Damaris Lewis, is the face of the collection.
The 30-year-old actress and model – who joined Prince’s band the New Power Generation in 2012 on his ‘Welcome 2 Australia Tour’ as a dancer and performed alongside him throughout his career – commented: “I’m very excited for this collection. I hope it inspires you to make your own rules, just as Prince did for so many decades.”
Wende Zomnir, co-founder of Urban Decay, added: “We couldn’t possibly imitate someone as legendary as Prince, and to compare him to a palette would diminish who he was. It’s easy to say why this collection makes sense on the surface — his makeup looks and our shared love of purple — but we did our best to embody his energy on a deeper level. We found his ethos of not asking permission to be who he was and owning it so boldly aligned with our values of breaking the mould and championing all forms of beauty.”
Prince passed away at the age of 57 of an accidental fentanyl overdose in 2016.

Kaia Gerber: My mum let me make fashion mistakes

OHMYGOSSIP — Kaia Gerber appreciates Cindy Crawford allowing her to make “fashion mistakes”.
The 19-year-old model – who is the daughter of the supermodel and Rande Gerber – is happy her mum allowed her to experiment with her wardrobe as it helped her to find her own style.
In a clip for Vogue’s ‘7 Days, 7 Looks’ series, she said: “The best style advice my mom has given me is less is more. She also let me make fashion mistakes, which I appreciate a lot. I think the biggest mistake that I made was trying to dress up a lot. When I was off duty, when I first started modelling, I was wearing heels all the time and full looks that lasted one season.”
Now, Kaia notices that she often picks similar ensembles to those that Cindy styled in the 90s, and when the teen see’s a picture of her parent, she often mistakes her for herself.
She said: “My mom always referenced very classic looks. So, I get that from her. She always gave me very staple pieces to have, to travel with that you can interchange … Sometimes I will see a picture of my mom and I think it’s me. This happened the other day. I posted a picture in this Marc Jacobs plaid dress, and she texted me and she’s like, ‘Kaia, I swear to God, I had that dress in the 90s’, and she sent me a picture, and it was the exact same dress.”
What’s more, Kaia has praised her older brother, Presley, 21, who is also a model, for influencing her choice of more “masculine” silhouettes.
She added: “I’ve always been more drawn towards what would be considered more masculine shapes, and I think that’s why I like blazers. And I didn’t have an older sister. I had an older brother, so I wanted Heelys and I wanted sweatshirts. My idea of fashion was skater surfer culture.”

It really felt like now was the perfect time to do something different, with the world seemingly opening back up again … normal feels like it’s really right around the corner … With this new chapter of my life, it just felt like the right time for a hair change. The colour feels indicative of how exciting and hopeful people are.”
Mandy enjoys being a “chameleon” when it comes to her personal beauty and style.
She added: “I’ve always found that I’ve enjoyed being a bit of a chameleon. That’s the fun part that I have found in my sort of personal journey as a woman.

Mandy used a box dye to create the natural blonde shade she wanted.
She told People magazine: “I used the virtual shade selector on Garnier’s website to take this quick questionnaire and figure out what colour was going to be best for me, because I knew that I wanted to keep it more in the darker, natural blonde shade range. I was able to find the exact colour match that felt like the right move for me: number 70. I was starting with a bit of a darker base this go around, so I was careful not to go too light because I didn’t want it to turn brassy. That was a big concern for me.”
