Laura Harrier: My cystic acne forced me to get into skincare

OHMYGOSSIP — Laura Harrier says her cystic acne forced her to get into skincare.
The ‘BlacKkKlansman’ star started paying attention to the ingredients in her skincare routine after her pores became blocked by bacteria and broke out in acne.
Taking part in Vogue’s ‘Beauty Secrets’ series, she said: “So a few years go I got really bad cystic acne all over my forehead. I think it was hormonal, and I was travelling a ton, and I was stressed, and I broke out terribly and I’ve never experienced that.
“It sucked. It was really alarming and it was upsetting. I hadn’t dealt with acne really until my late twenties.
“So that really forced me to get even more into skincare and do a lot of research and figure out how to balance what’s happening on my face.”
The ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ actress noticed that her skin tone on her forehead is a different shade to the centre of her face, and she has heaped praise on brands like Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty and Selena Gomez’ Rare Beauty for offering a vast selection of shades.
She said: “I don’t go to far into my forehead because I feel my forehead is much darker than the middle of my face. When I’m getting my make-up done, usually they use a bunch of different shades. I’m lazy, so I just dot it around.
“I think it’s so amazing now with brands like Fenty and Rare and there’s so many more shades available to match your foundation. I remember when I was younger and I was modelling and it was insane how many people couldn’t match my skin tone. ”
The 31-year-old movie star used to “cry” when her foundation turned out “grey or ashy” before she started working with top make-up artists.
She added: “I remember crying on set because I would look crazy and be grey or ashy. It never worked and I’m so grateful now to work with really talented make-up artists who know how to match my skin and know how to work with all different shades and all different skin tones.”

“It’s been 10 years since we created the looks for her Born This Way Ball, so we’ve decided to revisit the leather jacket — one of my favourite pieces from the tour — to be auctioned for a great cause. Gaga and her foundation are so inspiring, I love the work they do with vulnerable youth and the LGBTQ+ community.”
What’s more, the brand has released a limited run of Pride T-shirts and a beret to match the jacket with Versace printed in the colour of the rainbow flag.

Elizabeth Hurley keeps in shape by doing house chores

OHMYGOSSIP — Elizabeth Hurley has credited doing housekeeping with keeping her trim.
The 55-year-old actress has insisted she “hasn’t been to a gym in 100 years”, and keeps fit by cleaning her 13-bedroom mansion in the English countryside.
She told the ‘Postcards from Midlife’ podcast: “As you get older, it’s harder to keep the weight off if you’re not active. Even cleaning the skirting boards can burn a lot of calories, there’s a lot of things we can do which isn’t just yawn, yawn go to the gym.
“I’m very active outside all the time, plus I spend my life running upstairs carrying things and faffing, so I think I burn a lot of calories by being active.”
Hurley confessed that she found it “very hard during lockdown” to avoid tasty snacks, so she would reward herself with sweet treats after going on hikes.
Meanwhile, the ‘Bedazzled’ star recently shared her “speedy” skincare routine.
Hurley explained how she only spends “five minutes tops” applying lotions to her face.
She said: “I’m pretty speedy when it comes to skincare and spend five minutes tops. I have an arsenal of different products that I flit between. In the morning I don’t cleanse, but I whip a cotton pad over my face with toner — my current favourites are La Mer The Tonic or Estée Lauder Micro Essence. I love serums and feel them doing some good. Today I used Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair, but I could have been tempted by La Mer The Concentrate or Darphin Hydraskin Intensive Skin-Hydrating Serum. I pat on Estée Lauder Re-Nutriv Ultimate Lift Regenerating Youth Eye Cream followed by a delectable moisturiser such as Tom Ford Intensive Infusion Ultra Rich Moisturizer, I do the same at night, but I cleanse first with Clinique Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam.”

Paulina Porizkova claims Skincare products aren’t anti-ageing

OHMYGOSSIP — Paulina Porizkova has laser treatments because she doesn’t believe skincare products work.
The 56-year-old model has been open about the treatments she undergoes to maintain youthful-looking skin, and claimed she cannot rely on the products in her bathroom to reduce the signs of ageing.
She told Page Six Style: “Look, cosmetics and skin treatments are not going to do plastic surgery on you.
“It’s not like you’re going to use them and you’re going to look 20 years younger. It’s not only not realistic, but it’s impossible. So the best you can hope for with skin treatment products is that, you know, you’ll have a glow, or your skin will be nice and supple.”
Instead, the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover star opts for laser treatments that tighten and lift the skin and treat wrinkles and sagging around the eyes.
She explained: “I mean, what I really do to look like this is lasers. Everything I do is non-invasive and it’s incredibly subtle. The treatments that I prefer are the ones where you don’t look like you’ve been mauled by a bear.
“Day 2, You look like Frankenstein. You’re pretty scary looking.”
Meanwhile, Paulina previously admitted it’s “really freaking hard to be a woman over 50”.
The model believes she has hit the “dead zone” in her career, which she described as being in between “J-Lo looking fabulous” and veteran actress Betty White.
She said: “I did one of my, ‘Look at me. This is my face without make-up’ [posts]. And I’ve never used Botox or fillers. And this job that I was up for went, ‘Oh, well, we can’t use you then.'”
Asked by co-host Anthony Mason: “How do you feel about that?”, she replied: “I used to be kind of judgmental about it. “I used to go, ‘Oh, you know, I can’t believe that anybody’s injecting themselves and changing the way they look.’ “And now I think, ‘No, you know what? It’s really freaking hard to be a woman. And it’s really freaking hard to be a woman over 50. Because we really get dismissed from the table.’ “We have, like, a weird period between, you’re J-Lo looking fabulous and then Betty White. “And there’s kind of like a dead zone between the two. “So, I’m trying to fill that dead zone!”

Shania captioned the video: “Same outfit, 20 years apart! #letsgogirls (sic)”
A number of fans praised the country singer in the comments, with one writing: “Amazing!!! To be able to fit into your original outfit. (sic)”

Amid the global pandemic, the catwalk beauty has been able to “evolve” her routine as she spent a year off work.
She added: “I’m really appreciative of the year that I’ve had off because I’ve been able to evolve with my skincare routine and figure out a more updated version.”

Gwyneth Paltrow lands new role at Rent the Runway

OHMYGOSSIP — Gwyneth Paltrow has joined the board of Rent the Runway.
The Goop founder and style muse has announced she is starting a new role at the online rental fashion firm, which provides designer dress and accessory rentals, as the business prepares to “bounce back” amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Paltrow told The New York Times newspaper: “What’s fascinating is that, in my own way, I’ve been renting the runway for years.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Avengers: Endgame’ star recently shared how she mastered the art of not accidentally flashing on the red carpet.
The Hollywood star has no regrets about going commando in the Prada dress she wore to the 2012 Met Gala, which was actually a shirt that came with a skirt, which she chose not to wear.
She recalled: “I guess I should mention that this was the shirt, and there was a big skirt that came with it. But I was like, ‘No! … This is great. I love this.’
“You know, you gotta get the weapons out. So I decided to go with just the shirt, and I don’t regret the decision.”
The 48-year-old star laughed: “If I’ve learned one thing, it’s how not to show your vagina on a red carpet.”
However, there is at least one outfit the mother-of-two doesn’t think her kids will let her wear again.
Speaking about the Pucci dress she sported at the premiere of ‘Country Strong’ in 2010, Gwyneth – who has Apple, 17, and Moses, 15, with ex-husband Chris Martin – confessed: “This I don’t think I’d wear again. I think my kids would be so embarrassed if I left with, like, my ass hanging out of something, so I don’t think they would let me wear this.
“I mean, I don’t even know if I could wear underwear in this. It was probably pretty risky!”
Elsewhere, the ‘Mortdecai’ actress admitted she was upset by how “critical” people were of her 2002 Alexander McQueen gown, which she believes was probably “too goth” at the time.
She said: “Everyone really hated this, but I think it’s kind of dope.
“I had a weird hangover about it for a while because people were really critical. I think at the time it was too goth, I think people thought it was too hard, so I think it sort of shocked people. But I like it.”

Olivia Palermo focusing on self-care during pandemic

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Palermo has been enjoying focusing on self-care during the coronavirus pandemic.
The 35-year-old entrepreneur thinks the lockdown because of the current health crisis has really given people a chance to feel good about themselves and practice self-love and self-care.

Speaking about her style in lockdown, she added: “My lockdown outfits included a lot of cashmere sets for a cosy but chic look and, of course, always a few diamonds or an elegant timepiece for a pop of glamour – my Piaget watches help keep me on time for Zoom meetings! It was all about comfort and casual chic, so easy-to-slip-on mules have been my footwear of choice for around the house and menswear-inspired flats for walks with Mr. Butler [her dog].”
And when it comes to her own self-care, Olivia enjoys watching a movie whilst eating sushi.
She told Vanity Fair: “I’ve really learnt how critical it is to take that time for yourself, however, whether it’s practising a little self-care with a manicure or having a glass of wine while watching your favourite programme. Khloé Kardashian struggled to feel ‘comfortable’ in a swimsuit

OHMYGOSSIP — Khloé Kardashian struggled to feel “comfortable” in a swimsuit.
The ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ star admits there was a time where she would try to avoid swimwear as she didn’t like the look of herself in any of it, but with the launch of her new swimwear collection for Good American, she wanted to help herself and other women feel their “absolute best”.
Speaking about the new collection, she said: “In the past, I was a one-piece girl. There weren’t a lot of other options like two-pieces on the market that I felt comfortable yet stylish wearing. With Good American Swim, we wanted to alleviate those pain points that so many women face when finding the perfect suit, and offer quality swimwear for all women to look and feel their absolute best.”
