Gigi Hadid doesn’t think she should voice opinion on modelling outfits

OHMYGOSSIP — Gigi Hadid insists her job isn’t to “have an opinion” on her photoshoot outfits.
The 26-year-old model has opened up on the way she approaches her job, and how her role is to sell the clothes she’s wearing rather than dictate what the ensembles should be.
She told Harper’s Bazaar magazine: “It’s not my job to have an opinion on what I’m wearing [on set].
“It’s my job to wear what I wear and have enough of a photographic mind to understand how to make that piece look good, sellable, and give the feeling that is wanted by the creative team.”
She named photographer Steven Meisel as someone who had an early influence on her with one of his tactics on set.
She said: “He lets me shoot with a mirror behind him. And he says he often starts with letting models do that.
“The point is not to be distracted by yourself or even look at yourself in the mirror. It’s about being able to look at the camera, and then, kind of in your out-of-focus vision, is the shape of you.
“It’s training a model to understand how she fits into the photo, which is why I became a model. Obviously, I’m not saying this as anything disrespectful against women, but you have to look at yourself like an object or a fashion object or a sculpture.”
And asked about her own relationship with mirror, she admitted it’s not something she ever focuses on.
She added: “I don’t spend a lot of time in the mirror at all. I brush my teeth in the shower in the morning. Or I usually look out the window.”

Kendall Jenner hailed as ‘biggest fashion icon there is right now’

OHMYGOSSIP — Kendall Jenner has been hailed as the “biggest fashion icon” in the world.
The model and reality star will launch a limited-time 72 hour capsule collection with German online retailer About You on July 25 – with a second planned for later this year – and she’s been praised by those involved.
Donald Schneider – who is founder and creative director of Berlin’s Donald Schneider Studio, and masterminded the collaboration for About You – told WWD: “She is probably the biggest fashion icon and model there is right now.
“With her 174 million followers, her personality and her fashion style, she is a unique inspiration for the younger generation.”
The retailer is focusing on a digital-only campaign with a heavy emphasis on Instagram, and they’re keen to create a sense of intrigue for the collection.
About You’s director of content Julian Jansen added: “Our goal is to create a hype, a fear of missing out — so we are spending 70 percent of the media budget on the teaser phase and 30 percent on the launch phase.”
The collection – with 11 styles landing this month – has been inspired by Kendall’s style and favourite pieces, with each one numbered and featuring a special code including her November 3 birthday.
Schneider added: “From our first talks on, it was all about authenticity. We wanted to keep it all natural and real.”

Iris Law loves blonde buzzcut

OHMYGOSSIP — Iris Law “loves” her new blonde buzzcut.
The 20-year-old actress admitted her long locks were always a “deciding factor” in how good she felt about herself but after undergoing a radical transformation for her role as Soo Catwoman in upcoming TV show ‘Pistols’, she no longer has to worry about her appearance.
She told British Vogue: “I had a lot of hair – it was very light and fluffy – and it would always be the deciding factor on whether I felt good or not. I just love it like this.
“I don’t need a hairstylist when I get ready. Bleach it and then it’s ready!
“It definitely reduces the time it takes to get ready, especially when I’m seeing my friends; I don’t have to be in a hurry and, like, scrape my hair back!”
Iris only decided to go blonde to hide the botched attempts she’d made at shaving her hair, so she’s keen to improve her skills to do it herself in the future.
She said: “I’ve had people bleach my hair and I’ve done it with my agent because he bleaches his hair as well, so we did it together. But I tried to shave my head myself and I shaved a huge chunk out, so that’s initially why I went to blonde – to hide the chunk I took out!
“So I haven’t tried to do anything myself since then. I would like to teach myself because there’s something empowering about being able to if I’m on holiday or travelling.”
Iris walked the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival premiere of ‘The French Dispatch’ on Monday (12.07.21) and was delighted with how her hair complemented her white Christian Dior dress.
She said: “This was the first look I tried on and it really stood out. Straight away I knew I wanted to wear it. It’s a really beautiful, simple dress, with layered, pleated chiffon. It’s chic and classic but it has an interesting twist at the neckline.
“I really liked the dress because it’s chic and classic. This is my first month being blonde and I love it with the creamy white dress.”

Alexa Chung didn’t want to get ‘overexcited’ with Mulberry collaboration

OHMYGOSSIP — Alexa Chung didn’t want to get “over excited” and “overdo” her Mulberry collaboration.
The 37-year-old beauty wanted to pay homage to the brand’s 2010 Alexa – which she inspired – in her new designs for the fashion house while creating something that was fresh and modern, but wouldn’t age.
She said: “[I had to] not to get too overexcited and overdo it.
“I wanted a bag that was a more boxy, stiffer, stripped-back ode to the Alexa.
“The original leather was much more supple, soft and of its time, so we decided to bulk it up. And we added a chain instead of a leather strap, to make it more ‘city’ than ‘country’.”
Alexa’s two designs, a compact clutch and roomy shoulder bag called the Little Guy and Big Guy, were inspired by the likes of Lauren Hutton and Charlotte Rampling and the movies ‘Working Girl’ and ‘9 to 5’.
She told Vogue: “The menswear element was very important to me because that’s how I like my handbags to be.”
When she began her modelling career, a Mulberry bag was the first luxury purchase Alexa splashed out on so she will always have a special regard for the fashion house.
She said: “Mulberry was the first handbag I bought myself with the first pay cheque I made as a model, and so it has always been a hugely significant brand to me.
“When I was younger, I thought Mulberry was about as sophisticated, classic, elegant and forever as it got – and I can’t really shift that, because what I thought as a teenager is part of my essence. It’s always been synonymous in my mind with success, treats and heritage.”

Willow Smith excited by new skincare

OHMYGOSSIP — Willow Smith gets “super excited” by face wash.
The 20-year-old singer has a “pretty simple” skin care regime but loves trying out new products and incorporating them into her daily routine.
She told Allure: “I have a pretty simple skin-care routine, but I love different products. I get super excited when I get a new face cleanser. Recently, I’ve been exploring way more with face and lip masks.
“The lip masks are really new for me, because I’d never used them before this year. That’s a new addition to my skin-care routine.
“[I Love Dr. Jart+]. The moisturising face masks are my everything. I’ve been implementing that into my skin-care routine at least twice a week.”
The Anxiety frontwoman was introduced to fragrance at a young age by her mother, Jada Pinkett Smith, who she hailed a “perfume genius” because of her ability to mix her own scents.
She said: ” My mom was a huge perfume fan. A perfume genius, no pun intended. (Shout-out, Perfume Genius, you’re awesome, I love your music.)
“Anyway, [my mom] would mix essential oils and make her own perfumes. I remember being young and smelling her and thinking, What’s the mixture today? Peppermint and clove? Nag champa and chamomile? That was a source of joy for me as a kid.”
The ‘Whip My Hair’ singer is the new face of Alien Goddess and she was thrilled to work with Thierry Mugler because of the history of the brand.
She said: “I had seen some old photos and videos of fashion shows from Mugler in the past — it was just fire. Even then, they were innovating and doing such unique and different things.
“The name feels cosmic and spacey, but the scent is so floral, warm, and earthy, it has both of these extremes. [Plus] the name is Alien Goddess. I so relate to that.”

Jason Sudeikis explains Golden Globes hoodie

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Sudeikis has explained why he wore a hoodie to the Golden Globes.
The 2021 awards were held remotely via Zoom due to the COVID-19 pandemic and although Jason, 45, had originally planned to wear a Tom Ford suit, at the last minute he changed into a tie-dyed hoodie made by his sister’s clothing company.
Jason explained that as the Los Angeles-based ceremony took place in the middle of the night for him in London – where he was filming ‘Ted Lasso’ at the time – he felt weird about wearing a suit in the living room of his rented flat.
He told GQ.com: “I wore that hoodie because I didn’t wanna f****** wear the f****** top half of a Tom Ford suit. I love Tom Ford suits. But it felt weird as s***.”
However, as the ceremony took place not long after Jason’s former fiancee Olivia Wilde, 37, went public with her new romance with Harry Styles, 27, his casual appearance at the Golden Globes led to speculation he was heartbroken.
Jason said: “I was neither high nor heartbroken. So yeah, off it came and it was like, ‘This is how I feel. I believe in moving forward.’”
Jason won the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy for the comedy series ‘Ted Lasso’.
And this week, he was also nominated for an Emmy for the show, which picked up 20 nominations in total.

Winnie Harlow teaches Kyle Kuzma about skincare

OHMYGOSSIP — Winnie Harlow teaches her boyfriend about skincare.
The 26-year-old model and activist is passionate about skincare and revealed that she likes to share her expertise with her NBA player Kyle Kuzma, 25.
She told WWD: “We teach other what we’re passionate about. He’s really passionate about painting, and he has me paint with him. I’m passionate about skin care, so I sit him down and do the masks and scrubs on him.”
While the pair are equally interested in fashion, Winnie admitted she has a larger clothing collection than her partner.
She said: “Fashion, we both appreciate each other’s style. I have the bigger closet; I have three closets.”
Meanwhile, Winnie revealed she is excited that New York Fashion Week is returning in September and she can’t wait to walk in her ‘Making The Cut’ co-star Jeremy Scott’s Moschino show.
She said: “I’m walking for Jeremy. Everything stopped and it was nice to have that breather, but we’re ready to get back into the flow.”
Jeremy and Winnie have joined ‘Making The Cut’ as judges this year and Winnie was impressed with the Amazon show’s dedication to diversity.
She said: “From everyone filming to the models they chose, they were not just diverse in race and creed, but in size. It was important to the designers to make sure their clothes were fitting multiple sizes.”

Kylie Jenner is ‘creative’ force behind cosmetics brand

OHMYGOSSIP — Kylie Jenner is the “creative” force behind her cosmetics brand.
Although the 23-year-old make-up mogul has sold a share of her Kylie Cosmetics brand to Coty, she remains involved in every level of the business.
Kylie Cosmetics CEO Andrew Stanleick told WWD: “She leads every aspect in terms of product insight and development, and of course, marketing. Kylie brings this creative insight, media phenomenon and big network of devoted followers. When you marry that with Coty’s ability to bring the distribution network and know-how across a range of categories, it creates a powerful network and shows mutual value for both parties involved.”
Kylie has been working on a relaunch for her products after making a move to clean, vegan products.
Stanleick explained: “Kylie’s consumers are looking for the very best looks, but they want it to be clean, vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, etc. That’s exactly what Cover Girl has been winning on, and exactly why Kylie will win with this relaunch.
“As we look to relaunch, we know her fans are excited, and the brand has added 1 million followers since June.
“[Her resonance] is very strong. We’ve seen that in preparation for the relaunch and a lot of the partnerships that Kylie herself has been doing with retail partners. Kylie has a strong following globally in many key markets, and we’ve already launched Australia, where we have a strong business. There are many more markets where Coty has a big following where we haven’t launched yet.”

Alexa Chung embraces Mulberry reunion

OHMYGOSSIP — Alexa Chung felt like an “ex-husband” had called when Mulberry asked her to design a new bag.
The 37-year-old star was the inspiration for the fashion house’s 2010 accessory the Alexa and she admitted it “felt amazing” when they got in touch with her last year to team up on a new venture.
She said: “It really did feel like an ex-husband calling.
“I’ve never been married, but them calling me up out of the blue and being, like, ‘We were pretty good together, right?’ felt amazing.”
The ‘Next in Fashion’ star didn’t design the original Alexa bag, so she was thrilled to fulfill a long-held dream when she was asked to be more hands-on this time round.
She told the Sunday Times Style magazine: “I knew exactly what they were and I drew them like a child. I had always, always wanted to design a bag. That was one of the jobs I thought I would be all right at back when I was still modelling.”
Alexa’s two new designs are called Big Guy and Little Guy.
She said of the monikers: “Sorry about the names. I kept calling them that because we didn’t have another name. And now, of course, there’s Amazon’s Alexa”
The brunette beauty was keen to design two sizes of bag because she always has “distinct needs” for different occasions.
She explained: “I have distinct needs for different moments. I always bring in bits and bobs for work, so I need something substantial.
“But I struggle with evening clutches because they’re inherently naff. So the quandary became how to resolve my own need for something to use at night-time that doesn’t look too petite and silly.
“Women look for so many different things in a bag. Mine are primarily a dumping ground for stuff when I’m flitting between my house and my boyfriend’s house. Dirty knickers. Marvis toothpaste. My local shop in east London only sells Colgate, but his local shop in west London sells Marvis of course. That just says it all, doesn’t it?”

Dame Helen Mirren needs comfort to be glamorous

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Helen Mirren says comfort makes her feel her most glamorous.
The ‘F9’ star insisted being at ease with what she is wearing helps to “transform” her look because it stops her from appearing as “stiff” as she would if there was any element of her appearance that she felt self-conscious about.
She told Allure magazine: “Somehow, being comfortable in what you’re wearing gives you an ease and the relaxation that transforms your look.
“You can have everything perfectly done, but if you’re self-conscious about things showing, or it doesn’t quite fit, you’re sort of stiff. Weirdly, comfort is very, very important.”
The 75-year-old star’s favourite red carpet look of all time was the silver gown she donned for the premiere of ‘The Queen’ at the Venice Film Festival in 2006.
She recalled: “The night that The Queen screened at Venice was a very big moment because it was the moment that launched the film into the public arena.
“And I had a really lovely, sort-of-silver sequined dress — and it was so not like my look as the Queen. I loved that look.”
And Helen also has fond memories of walking the red carpet at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, when she’d dyed her hair pink to match the hue of her Elie Saab gown.
She said: “I did love that look. I had the most gorgeous dress on. It was just a very, very beautiful dress. I thought it would be great to have my hair match the dress — which it did. It was very good. It was one of my favourites.”
Meanwhile, the veteran actress heaped praise on her fellow L’Oreal Paris ambassador, Kate Winslet, who she thinks is a “great woman”.
She said: “Kate is a very beautiful woman, undoubtedly, of course. But she’s beautiful in a way that she’s always allowed it to be herself — her natural self.
“Even when she’s very obviously, beautifully dressed up with hair and make-up, there’s something always very natural about her, and that comes from her personality. She’s a really great woman.”

Georgia May Jagger’s secrets to perfect red lip

OHMYGOSSIP — Georgia May Jagger makes her own lip scrub.
The 29-year-old model – who is the daughter of Jerry Hall and Sir Mick Jagger – insisted it is essential to prepare her mouth before applying a bold colour so mixes Vaseline with brown sugar to smooth the skin first.
She said: “I always watched my mum applying red lipstick growing up and when I started modeling I worked a lot with Val Garland who is an incredible make-up artist. She taught me how to perfect a red lip that stays.
“I always start by scrubbing my lips with a lip exfoliator or I make my own with lip balm and brown sugar before wearing a red lip for the evening – it helps to prevent the lipstick from caking in the edges of your mouth.
“Then I use a liner underneath to really make sure it stays put.
“To get a perfect edge to your red lip, Val taught me to take a compact and hold it underneath your lower lip to check that you have got the perfect line.”
In the daytime, Georgia opts for a “fresh” make-up look and tries to use a minimal number of different products so she’s able to travel light.
Speaking to Stella magazine, she said: “My go-to day look is to use concealer, mascara and a lip tint on my lips and cheeks.
“I love a lipstick or tinted balm in a soft pink that I can use as a blush and an eyeshadow as well; I apply by dotting it upwards across my cheekbones and then rubbing it in.
“I love this trick because it means that you can just carry a few make-up items and it’s great for a fresh daytime look.”

Helena Christensen likes comfy pants

OHMYGOSSIP — Helena Christensen “loves” vintage lingerie – but would rather wear comfortable cotton pants.
The 52-year-old supermodel collects antique lace underwear and though she loves looking at the garments, she admitted she doesn’t wear them that much as they don’t feel as comfy as basic pieces.
She said: “I love vintage lingerie. I collect antique lace, but it’s almost like, ‘Oh my God, they’re so pretty to look at, but now I’m going to put on a pair of hand-dyed cotton underwear where I’m comfortable.’
“A lot of my dresses and shirts are see-through and open, so you can see details from the lingerie.”
Although Helena – who has 21-year-old son Mingus with former partner Norman Reedus – dressed for comfort during lockdown, she didn’t completely sacrifice style in favour of nothing but sweatpants.
She told The Times’ Weekend magazine: “I absolutely was not wearing the same sweatpants every day. That would have been a very smelly situation.
“But I was definitely wearing very comfortable clothes — that included sweatshirts, sweatpants, but also a lot of loose, vintage slip dresses.”
Helena hates being questioned about ageing because she thinks it sets things back for women so she tries to keep the subject off the table.
Asked why it isn’t something she wants to talk about, she said: “As soon as [age] is mentioned anywhere we [women] set ourselves back by doing it again, again, again, again.
“We’re going to move away from it always being mentioned, especially in female interviews. When a man interviews a man they’re not going to ask about it. They’re interested in, ‘How’s work? What’s going on?’
“So I don’t want anything to do with it and that way in my own little, little, little way I might be able to change something that always happens.”

Olivia Rodrigo’s face mask breakouts

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Rodrigo has suffered from bad breakouts since wearing face masks.
The ‘good 4 u’ hitmaker has revealed she had a bout of dermatitis and believes it’s down to having to wear protective face coverings amid the coronavirus pandemic and using products that didn’t agree with her skin.
As a result, the 18-year-old pop superstar likes to keep her skincare routine to a bare minimum.
In a video for Vogue, she explained: “I had the worst case of dermatitis, where I just broke out all around my mouth, and it was awful. I think it was wearing masks a lot, and also, using a bunch of products that irritated my skin. And so my dermatologist said, okay, cut everything out of your skincare routine, just wash your face. And that’s sort of why my skincare and make-up routine and stuff is so simple. I think less is more with skincare, a lot of the time.”
And the ‘driver’s license’ hitmaker insisted she doesn’t expect miracles from her skin as she is still a teenager.
She said: “I cannot expect to have perfect skin all the time … my skin loves breaking out on my chin and on my nose. The masks definitely don’t help with the acne.”
Elsewhere, Olivia revealed she swears by hair supplement OLLY gummies for her luscious locks.
She said: “I love these OLLY gummies, I’m obsessed with them. I started taking them a year ago, and I actually think that my hair really improved. They’re also just delicious, and also the highlight of my morning is eating two of these because they’re so yummy.”

Kanye West goes incognito in full face covering at Balenciaga show

OHMYGOSSIP — Kanye West attended the Balenciaga Haute Couture show in a full face covering.
The 44-year-old rapper donned the ski-style mask with a cat printed on it as he sat front row at the Balenciaga Fall 2021 Couture show on Wednesday (07.07.21).
The masks are becoming a popular accessory for Kim Kardashian West’s estranged husband, who was recently seen sporting a brown and blue covering with Jesus and two angels floating around heaven emblazoned across it.
Meanwhile, Kanye – who is believed to be dating model Irina Shayk – previously vowed to “break the class system” with his fashion designs as he believes “artists” can take something small and build them into something much bigger with “energy and ingenuity”.
He explained: “I think we can break the class system. This sweatshirt is the blank that we used for merch. In the setting, it feels very elegant, but it’s a very simple cut design–all of the energy and ingenuity. It’s so much time that went into finding the simplest version…
“That’s what artists do; they take everything that’s happening in life and sometimes encapsulate it into an hour and a half of Eddie Murphy on stage, or Dave Chappelle, or 16 bars inside of a verse, or the cut of a sweatshirt or a boot.”
The ‘Stronger’ hitmaker always wanted his clothes to be more than just “merch” and was frustrated when he was advised to start with T-shirts and work his way from there but quickly came to realise that was the right approach.
He added: “When I wanted to get into fashion, everyone would bring up The Row and how they started with t-shirts. I didn’t want to start with a T-shirt.
“I love merch, but we did merch as a punk answer to us being told we can’t work at Louis Vuitton, Versace, Nike. Merch started as one of the only things we could control.
“When we did our first fashion show, in crocodile and all these exotic fabrics, there was just a block, like, ‘No, you can’t get in. No, you can’t be involved with this.’ Somehow, I actually had to go back and start with a T-shirt.”

Megan Fox almost didn’t wear her revealing Billboard Music Awards gown

OHMYGOSSIP — Megan Fox nearly didn’t wear her revealing Billboard Music Awards dress after an ayahuasca trip.
The 35-year-old actress turned heads when she stepped out in a cutout Mugler gown on the red carpet at the music awards show in May.
However, the ‘Jennifer’s Body’ star and her boyfriend Machine Gun Kelly had just got back from a spiritual pilgrimage to Costa Rica, and Megan didn’t feel it was appropriate to flash the flesh in the barely-there ensemble not long after speaking to God.
She told InStyle: “My stylist was like ‘We want you to wear this’ and I was like ‘I was just talking to God in the jungle, I’m not ready to wear that.”
However, the ‘Rap Devil’ rapper persuaded the ‘Transformers’ star to bite the bullet with the help of some Peruvian tobacco, which he used to “cleanse” his girlfriend.
At the time, she thought: “F*** it, I’ll just have some Peruvian tobacco, I’ll wear this thing.”
Megan recalled: “He gets out wearing this basically shirtless Jim Morrison, wild-ass Balmain super rockstar, whatever the f*** he’s wearing.
“He takes out this giant-a** — it looks like a blunt, it’s not, it’s Peruvian tobacco — and he’s smoking it and then he’s blowing it all over me to cleanse me. People must’ve ben like ‘These f****** people are psycho.’”
Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that the couple like to match their nails after they were seen rocking bold designs for the awards season.
The pair’s nail artist, Nails of LA founder Brittney Boyce, said: “They like to match.
“[MGK’s] one of my favourite clients, because no matter what, I’ll always get good nail shots with him, because he loves showing them off so much. With the girls I’m like, ‘Come on, show your nails.’ But he does such a great job with making them an actual accessory.”
MGK is channelling is love of nail art into his own upcoming unisex line of nail polish.
The ‘my ex’s best friend’ rocker’s first foray into the beauty industry has seen him curate a UN/DN collection for Unlisted Brand Lab.

Jodie Foster “looks better with less makeup”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Foster thinks she “looks better with less makeup”.
The 58-year-old actress stunned at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday (07.07.21) with help from her make-up artist Brett Freedman, who takes a “less is more” approach to compliment her natural beauty.
He told People: “With Jodie, less is more. She’s one of those women that looks better with less makeup. She has such a casual style. Everything’s sheer. For this event, I wanted to do a fresh and summery evening look with neutral eyes and juicy lips.”
Freedman used Charlotte Tilbury skincare and make-up to achieve a “very sexy, dewy French Riviera summer” vibe by ensuring Foster’s skin was hydrated to prevent any foundation caking into any fine lines.
He explained: “You can tailor matte foundation, like the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Foundation I used on Jodie, to drier, more mature skin. People don’t realize that.
“I mixed a little bit of the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream and a few drops of the Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow Face Primer. Then you get coverage, staying power and luminosity.”
He then finished her skin with the Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic in Ecstasy, adding: “We wanted the skin to pop a touch since it’s summer and she was wearing white.”
‘The Silence of the Lambs’ actress prefers the natural aesthetic as she knows certain make-up looks don’t work well for her.
Freedman recalled: “She told me eyeliner under the eyes make it look like she hasn’t slept.”
Instead, the makeup expert used the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Instant Eye Palette to create a blend of “champagne and golden apricot” on the lids.
A bright or dark lip shade is another no go for Foster, so Freedman focuses on “a fun eye party and keep the lips nude.”
He added: “I do the lip liner all over and shimmery gloss on top. The pencil gives good color and staying power. Then the gloss gives a little youth. It looks juicy and fresh. So that’s something I do with Jodie, too.”
