Kid Cudi hits back at criticism of his painted nails

OHMYGOSSIP — Kid Cudi has hit back at critics of his painted nails.
The 37-year-old rapper disabled comments on Instagram after receiving nasty remarks underneath a picture of him showing off his orange and shimmery blue nail polish as he threw up the peace sign in a ‘Mandalorian’ helmet at the weekend.
Taking to Twitter, he explained: “Turned my comments off on instagram. Seems people really have a problem w me painting my nails. I got tired of blockin so many accounts. I really need u to understand, if u dont like me doin this or anything I do, please dont buy my albums, dont come to my shows. F*** way off. (sic)”
Cudi shutting down critics of his nails comes after he recently revealed Kurt Cobain inspired him to wear a floral dress on ‘Saturday Night Live’.
The ‘Day ‘n’ Night’ hitmaker turned heads in the strappy gown on the late-night comedy sketch show in April.
And he later explained how the late Nirvana frontman famously rocking a similar style on the cover of The Face magazine in 1993 was his muse, while he also wanted to inspire young people to be themselves and wear whatever they want to.
He said: “The image of seeing Kurt Cobain in a dress was very rock ‘n’ roll to me. That was cool. So I already made my mind up years ago that I wanted to do this. And it’s cool because I’m also giving confidence to the kids and telling them to be themselves and do what they want to do.”
The ‘Memories’ hitmaker faced backlash by some for his outfit choice but he loves that he has caused a stir.
He said: “I’ve already seen people making YouTube videos where they’re just strictly talking about me and this dress. Like grown men, angry, grown Black men, angry. ‘He’s doing something against men and masculinity, it’s a big thing going on…’ And I just be like, ‘Yo, this is so funny, this is crazy that I’ve stirred it up like this.’
“I’m more like, ‘Hmm, I wonder why they feel that way. I’ve never been someone who’s, like, thinking about the backlash. I don’t give a f*** about what anyone thinks. You can’t when you’re doing this s***. I knew it would p*** some people off, but I love that. Because hip-hop is so weird about s***.”

Kate Beckinsale hates it when people assume she’s had Botox

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Beckinsale gets “p***** off” when people assume she’s had Botox.
The 47-year-old actress-and-model is known for her youthful appearance, but she has insisted she’s never gone under the knife or had injectables inserted into her face to remove the signs of ageing, because she is petrified of “paralysing” her face, and her mother wouldn’t let her live it down if she did.
She began in an interview with The Sunday Times newspaper: “My family are generally on the younger-looking side.
“Even my dog is nine and looks like a puppy.
“I’ve been so aware of the possibility people can drop dead at any time … People started trying to worry me about turning 40 when I was turning 33. If you overload it like that, you’re going to make the person not give a s***.
“Another thing I find amazing, because you literally could barely move me as a kid, I didn’t want to stand up.”
Kate added when asked if she’s had Botox: “I haven’t had any! I’m not against people having it. [But] I do get p***** off. It’s sort of a given that I’ve had it, which I just literally haven’t. I’m frightened of paralysing my face. My mum’s voice is in my head, very loud, at all times. My mum wouldn’t even get a facial, she is suspicious of anything like that, and looks f****** radiant and amazing. I know if I did do Botox, I’d be the one that would get the droopy eye, and my mum would go, ‘I f****** told you! See? You should never do that.’”
However, one procedure the ‘Underworld’ star is down with having is the ‘Vampire Facial’; a shot of Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injected into the skin.
She added: “But I do like PRP, when they take your blood [plasma and re-inject it into your skin]. That’s a real thing, from your own body. But not with scary poisonous things!”

Jean Paul Gaultier recalls couture heyday with Mick Jagger and George Michael

OHMYGOSSIP — Jean Paul Gaultier says couture fashion is “all about contracts and money” these days.
The 69-year-old designer recently returned to ready-to-wear with his eponymous fashion house after retiring his haute couture show in January 2020.
And the fashion muse has admitted his couture heyday was getting to dress music legends such as Boy George, Sir Mick Jagger and the late George Michael, when it wasn’t all about the paycheque.
He told The Guardian newspaper: “I was happy when people like Boy George and George Michael were wearing my clothes, and when Mick Jagger asked me to do his show … that was real work. But today couture is all about contracts and money.”
Elsewhere, Gaultier recalled creating his iconic conical bra on a teddy bear, long before designing the adult version for Queen of Pop, Madonna.
He remembered: “I wanted a doll, not a bear, but I did its hair and used my grandmother’s makeup on it. And I made a conical bra for it: it was the first conical bra, even before Madonna’s. I grew up on television, not books, and I’d also seen this programme that showed you could cut a circle out of a circle to make a skirt, so I made a hole in one of my grandmother’s lace mats and turned it into a skirt for the bear.”
Gaultier instantly knew he wanted to work with the ‘Holiday’ hitmaker as soon as he saw her on ‘Top of the Pops’ as he “adored” her style.
He said: “I’d seen her singing ‘Holiday’ on ‘Top of the Pops’ and thought she was absolutely my style – the jewellery, the crucifixes, the way she dressed, her look – this was what I was doing with my collection. I adored her.”
Madonna would end up phoning Gaultier in 1989 to ask him to dress her, and he didn’t believe it at first, as he assumed someone was prank calling him.

Mike Tyson stars in Roberto Cavalli film

OHMYGOSSIP — Mike Tyson is the face of Roberto Cavalli’s Spring/Summer 2022 menswear collection.
The boxing legend stars in a film to showcase the first collection with Fausto Puglisi at the helm.
The Tommaso Ottomano visual shows off the Andy Warhol-inspired pieces – including bold animal prints – with the theme of the American Dream.
Puglisi said in a statement: “Mike Tyson is one of the last living pop icons and beyond being a boxing champion, he is also a stylish man, with a very personal and eccentric taste.
“But more than the undisputed boxing champion and American icon, his personal story is also a tale of survival, struggle, and resilience. He embodies America in both the American Dream and all the possibilities it holds, but also its reverse.”
Tyson appears in a zebra-print robe with his surname emblazoned on the back.
And, in a joint interview with the designer, Tyson revealed that wearing pink makes him want to fight.
Speaking to GQ, the 55-year-old retired heavyweight champion explained: “Pink has a lot to do with it. If I’m wearing pink, I’m not going to have an expression like you want to talk to me. ’Cause when I have on pink, I’m very serious. Pink makes me very masculine.
To which Puglisi replied: “Belissimo!”
Tyson added: “I almost want to fight in those clothes. Those clothes make me want to fight a little.”

LVMH acquires majority stake in Virgil Abloh’s Off-White brand

OHMYGOSSIP — LVMH has acquired a majority stake in Off-White LLC.
The French corporation and conglomerate – which specialises in high-end goods – has bagged a 60 per cent stake in the firm that owns Virgil Abloh‘s Off-White brand.
The designer will keep his title as creative director of the streetwear brand and still has 40 per cent ownership.
Working alongside LVMH, the team will grow Off-White’s existing brands and new ones, too.
News of the deal comes after Virgil recently hailed his autumn/winter 2021 collection as “grown-up”.
The fashion label’s CEO debuted his upcoming line during Haute Couture Week in Paris, France – with Bella Hadid walking the runway in a striking blue gown – and the fashion muse admitted Off-White has matured since his last collection.
He said: “It’s rebelling against the younger version of myself.
“This is the first time I’ve actually said that. Normally I say I’m trying to stay the younger version of myself. But in a weird ‘ta-dah’ way, it’s like: Off-White should be adult!”
The artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear collection did a lot of growing up himself amid the COVID-19 pandemic which seeped into his designs.
He added: “If I were to look at my body of work, especially through the year off, I think I’ve grown up the most in the shortest amount of time. And that is super apparent when I look at the work. I see a maturity.”
Meanwhile, Virgil previously revealed he started his fashion brand to pursue architecture.
The 40-year-old designer received a master’s degree in architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology but created Off-White to “investigate” architecture instead of following a traditional route.
He said: “I don’t believe in disciplines. We can use our architecture brain and do many things, not just what we’re supposed to do.
“I started a career to make a brand to do architecture rather than just work at SOM, or wherever I would have naturally gone starting my architecture career. I made a brand to sort of investigate architecture in a way.”

Winnie Harlow loves to switch up her style with wigs

OHMYGOSSIP — Winnie Harlow loves wearing wigs to “express” her different styles.
The 26-year-old fashion model’s career means she is forever changing her look, and so wearing a hairpiece is the best way for her to switch up her hair all while protecting her natural locks.
Speaking to Us Weekly, she explained: “Being able to change my hair all the time is a huge part of my life because I am never bored.
“I get to experience so many different looks and try new things and I think that’s what living life is about … I enjoy wearing wigs so that I can achieve all the looks that my career entails and express different styles while protecting my natural hair.”
Meanwhile, Winnie recently revealed she is excited that New York Fashion Week is returning in September and she can’t wait to walk in her ‘Making The Cut’ co-star Jeremy Scott’s Moschino show.
She said: “I’m walking for Jeremy. Everything stopped and it was nice to have that breather, but we’re ready to get back into the flow.”
Jeremy and Winnie have joined ‘Making The Cut’ as judges this year and Winnie was impressed with the Amazon show’s dedication to diversity.
She said: “From everyone filming to the models they chose, they were not just diverse in race and creed, but in size. It was important to the designers to make sure their clothes were fitting multiple sizes.”

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon’s daughter Monroe names modelling debut

OHMYGOSSIP — Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon’s 10-year-old daughter Monroe has made her modelling debut.
The youngster – who is a twin to brother Moroccan – transformed into a mini-me version of her famous mother for an ad for OshKosh B’Gosh’s back-to-school campaign, ‘Today Is Someday’.
Monroe, who rocks denim dungarees, can be seen posing with a hairbrush microphone and writing lyrics in a scene set in 1980.
She says in the clip: “Someday, it’s gonna be different. The melodies that live in my head, someday they’ll live at the top of the charts. The songs in my heart will touch millions of hearts.”
Asked why they did the campaign, the 51-year-old singer told People: “As a little girl, I was determined to realise my dreams. Now as a mother, it brings me so much joy to see my children visualise and develop the dreams they hold in their own hearts.
“We did the campaign because we love the message of empowering kids to dream boldly and blaze their own path.”
Meanwhile, the ‘We Belong Together’ hitmaker recently admitted she had “identity issues” throughout her childhood.
The Grammy-winner is pleased she had the chance to release her memoir, ‘The Meaning of Mariah Carey’, last year because it meant she got to tell the stories of who she is as she wants to be remembered for more than just her career and thinks it was important to document her struggles.
She said: “When people years from now tell my story — hopefully that happens — they’re gonna have to use that book as a template.
“This is my actual story. I look at a lot of people that I admired who didn’t get a chance to do that. They may have told their stories through their music and people interpret their stories.
“I know some people, Ahmir, like to have everybody else’s input and their perspective. But what I wanted was to tell my actual story, which doesn’t begin with, ‘Mariah Carey put out Vision of Love in 1990.’
“No, it doesn’t begin with that. It begins [with me] colouring in the ‘wrong’ crayon with a brown crayon for my father, so they all freak out at me.
“It begins with, ‘I don’t understand my hair because I’m [half-black].
“It begins with all these identity issues, these issues of race, these struggles. Then it goes to the issues of control.”
And the ‘Hero’ hitmaker also recalled her early days in the music industry, with record company executives unsure how to market an “ambiguous” woman of colour.
She continued: “There’s a thing where there’s a constant theme [with] being a woman in a male-dominated industry.
“Then [I was] a woman of colour with all this ambiguity and [had] people deciding how they’re going to market me [at the time].”

Madison Beer: Our flaws make us human

OHMYGOSSIP — Madison Beer says her flaws “make her human” and should be celebrated.
The 22-year-old star has suffered from hormonal breakouts and has admitted it took her a while to learn that having acne “doesn’t define you”.
Speaking to Glamour, she explained: “Learning that it doesn’t define you is huge — that was a huge thing that I had to accept. It doesn’t make you any less beautiful. We’re human beings, and we can’t be so hard on ourselves for something human and natural. And honestly, it’s something that most people can’t control. Mine was hormonal, so I cannot control that. I feel like that’s just another flaw with society that hopefully is changing – women particularly are expected to be perfect all the time, but we have pimples, dark circles, wrinkles, cellulite, whatever. It’s deemed like a negative thing, but I actually think that it makes you human. And these are beautiful things.”
The ‘Reckless’ singer – who has just been unveiled as the face of Victoria’s Secrets’ Tease Crème Cloud fragrance – also insisted that you don’t need to have a “30-step skincare routine” to have good skin.
She added: “That you need to have a 30-step skincare routine to have clear skin. I’ve struggled with acne for the majority of my life, and I literally only use two to three products and it gets me through. But I definitely remember when I was in the height of my worst skin, I was googling stuff, and it was like, ‘You have to do this and this and this.’ That might work for some people, but for me personally, I like to keep it simple.”

Victoria Beckham: Triple is the new double denim

OHMYGOSSIP — Victoria Beckham has tipped triple denim to be the hottest new trend.
The Spice Girl-turned-fashion designer took to Instagram to show off her eponymous label’s upcoming Autumn/Winter 2021 pieces, including a model rocking a denim shirt, jeans, and a pair of boots.
Posh Spice captioned the clip: “Triple is the new double (denim only) #VBAW21.”
Double denim was massively popular in the ’90s, with the likes of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, Pamela Anderson, and even Brad Pitt rocking two pieces of denim.
And Beyonce has previously donned triple denim in 2015 when she rocked denim dungarees, a matching shirt, and a jacket on a dinner date with husband Jay-Z.
Meanwhile, Victoria previously revealed she avoids washing denim, which can be prone to shrinking and fading.
Speaking in 2018, she said: “If the kids spill something on them, then I have to wash them, obviously, but even then it’s only on cold wash. And normally, no, I just don’t wash them at all.”
What’s more, the mother-of-four – who has Brooklyn, 22, Romeo, 18, Cruz, 16, and 10-year-old Harper with retired soccer ace David Beckham – never folds her jeans.
She said: “I normally hang my jeans up, to be honest with you, to keep the shape.”

LL Cool J’s Rock the Balls drop Essentials collection

OHMYGOSSIP — LL Cool J’s Rock the Bells brand has launched the Hip-Hop Is Essential collection.
The music veteran’s apparel line has evolved to reflect the ‘Loungin’ hitmaker’s latest style preferences, which he has hailed as “high-quality, self-assured, versatile and comfortable”.
The 53-year-old star – whose real name is James Todd Smith – said in a statement: “I used to rock streetwear all the time because it was comfortable and stylish.
“As my life has evolved, the current offerings don’t speak to my station in life. Today’s streetwear doesn’t always fit right and can be too hard to get. I wanted to create something that represents me: high-quality, self-assured, versatile, and comfortable.”
Products include hoodies, pants, shorts, and tank tops in pastel shades for summer and neutrals for fall.
Prices range from between $35 and $85.
The Essentials collection comes after Rock the Bells dropped the Chain Collection inspired by hip-hop culture in December.
The rapper and actor joined forces with designer Alexander-John on the line to celebrate the importance of the chain as a mode of expression throughout hip-hop’s history.
Alexander-John said: “LL has been my idol since I was a kid and an inspiration to me as a young Black guy. This guy is everything you need to be as a guy. When I saw she was connected, we started having conversations and she said, ‘We’ve got to get you to do something for LL.’ The feeling was mutual. She made it happen.”
LL gushed: “He had his ear to the street and I thought the design was unique and special — adventurous but still disciplined — and I said, ‘I would love to have him work on a collection for us, something people are going to love.’”
The line – which includes hoodies, jogging bottoms and a duffle bag – was made in “homage” to the custom jewellery and graffiti which is “synonymous” to hip-hop culture
The sneaker designer said: “LL said we don’t have to reinvent the wheel, hip-hop is a classic, timeless thing and this is meant to bring homage to the culture.
“I said, ‘How do we bridge the gap between this generation and what LL was inspired by,’ and the chains are that synonymous thing — everybody understands getting their own custom jewellery made. I attacked it as an art form coming off graffiti and hip-hop with the chain representing that thing that a lot of rappers used to express their personal style and logos and what they stood for.”

Zoe Kravitz and mum Lisa Bonet swap beauty products

OHMYGOSSIP — Zoe Kravitz and her mom Lisa Bonet exchange skincare products.
The ‘Batman’ star has revealed she and the 53-year-old actress are always suggesting new products to try and the pair also go on a 30-day Dr. Schulze detoxifying cleanse yearly.
However, the 32-year-old screen star insisted feeling good in how you look and feel doesn’t all come out of a bottle.
Speaking to Vogue for their Beauty Secrets series, Zoe said: “My mom and I are constantly sending each other things that we like.
“I really think wellness starts with diet, exercise, hydration.
“I think it’s all about balance, right? I think it’s about joy and happiness and laughter. I really think that affects how you look and feel.
“Then, you don’t have to use makeup to cover yourself up; you can use it to highlight.”
And when it comes to make-up, the ‘Big Little Lies’ star – whose father is music legend Lenny Kravitz – insisted it’s far better to “enhance” your best features than try to change your appearance.
She said: “There are different kinds of make-up, and everyone finds their own style, but I do like to try to encourage people to enhance the things that you love and not try to change your face completely or reshape your face completely. Everyone is so pretty in their own way.”

Molly Sims reveals her skincare pet-hates

OHMYGOSSIP — Molly Sims has warned that “overdoing lasers and peels” isn’t good for your skin.
The 48-year-old model-and-actress soon learned that constantly using invasive treatments wasn’t doing her skin any good, and she much prefers the results of ice rolling and Gua Sha – the latter of which is a natural alternative where you scrape the skin with a massage tool to improve circulation.
Speaking to Byrdie, the catwalk beauty said: “I learned that you need to stop overdoing the lasers and peels. I think once you find a system that works for you, you stick with it. I mean, I still love to try new products … all the time, but it has to be worth it! Also, I swear by at-home devices like NuFace, ice rolling, and gua sha. Implementing that in your day-to-day routine is huge for facial toning and de-puffing.”
Quizzed on her worst skincare faux-pas, she said: “One of the biggest mistakes I ever made was using toothpaste on a pimple. I slept with it on, and IT BURNED ME. Never again.”
Molly is also not a fan of overusing retinol and over-exfoliation.
She added: “My ultimate skincare pet peeve is when people use too much retinol and when they over-exfoliate. If you want to do peels, do mini-peels. Your skin isn’t meant to take all those harsh ingredients. If you can tell that someone has had something done, then it was not done well.”
Asked what the best skincare advice she has received was, the ‘Yes Day’ actress replied: “If you strip, put moisture back in. Over-stripping causes redness and inflammation. That one came from Nurse Jamie.”

Schiaparelli selling Lady Gaga’s dove brooch for charity

OHMYGOSSIP — Schiaparelli is selling Lady Gaga’s brooch from the US Presidential inauguration for charity.
The Italian fashion brand is releasing the large golden dove brooch that Gaga wore when she sang the national anthem at President Joe Biden’s inauguration in January, and all proceeds will benefit her Born This Way Foundation.
Schiaparelli creative director Daniel Roseberry said in a statement: “Like so many of us, I have been inspired by Lady Gaga and her Born This Way Foundation for years. Her inauguration performance, and the symbolic Dove Brooch, is a milestone in the history of this Maison and in my life. It is with great pride that we are able to contribute to Gaga’s foundation and the remarkable work it has done in the lives of young people everywhere, moving them toward more freedom, kindness and love.”
The accessory is now available to purchase through the design house and at Bergdorf Goodman and Dover Street Market.
Gaga chose the brooch to send a message of peace and unity and she paired it with a Schiaparelli Haute Couture ensemble, comprised of a navy jacket and an oversized red skirt.
Speaking at the time, Roseberry said: “As an American living in Paris, this ensemble is a love letter to the country I miss so dearly and to a performer whose artistry I have so long admired. Maison Schiaparelli is honoured to have this chance to dress the iconic Lady Gaga on this historic Inauguration Day. God Bless Lady Gaga and God Bless America.”

Winnie Harlow says ANTM dented her confidence

OHMYGOSSIP — Winnie Harlow says ‘America’s Next Top Model’ made her feel like she would never succeed.
The 26-year-old model competed on Tyra Banks’ reality TV competition show in 2014 but admitted it dented her confidence.
She told PEOPLE: “At that point in my life, I was told or made to feel like I couldn’t model or that it wasn’t for me. My mother always said, ‘If you don’t got nothing good to say, don’t say nothing at all’.”
However, Winnie was determined to succeed and kept pushing through until she made it as a model.
She explained: “My plan was to never fail. I’m from the hood, and my goal was to never go back. I wanted to take care of my mom and my sister and make my dad proud.”
And Winnie, who suffers with vitiligo (a condition in which the skin loses its pigment cells), is happy that she can be a role model for others.
She said: “Growing up, I never saw anyone like me on TV, billboards or on the runways. I felt like I was the only person in the world like me.
“The more I did, the more of a following I gained on social media. I was getting a lot of love and support and people telling me that I inspired them. So I was like, ‘If doing this thing that’s just fun for me is inspiring people, then it’s a win-win.'”

Juno Temple reveals pandemic-related body issues

OHMYGOSSIP — Juno Temple has revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic left her with body image issues.
The ‘Ted Lasso’ actress admitted that being stuck at home or seeing herself constantly in FaceTime calls left her more critical of her body than ever.
Juno believes many people can identify with “hating parts of your body, exteriorly, and then having to remind yourself that it’s okay to not be a certain size, a certain height, all of those things”.
However, Juno, 32, also revealed that being forced to slow down, because of the pandemic, has helped her to grow as a person and to understand that “getting older is a really beautiful thing”.
She told MarieClaire.com: “The more you experience and the more knowledge you gain, the better you are as an individual on the planet—and also definitely as an actor, because you just have more to tap into.
“The break in work meant that it was time to process some things and actually maybe listen and learn a bit about your brain in a way that you hadn’t necessarily made time for.
“I’ve got perpetual Peter Pan syndrome. And I think this was a kind of reality check in that actually getting older is a really beautiful thing.”
