Thomas and Friends Clothing collaborate with National Autistic Society to unveil autism friendly range

OHMYGOSSIP — The Thomas and Friends brands team has collaborated with the National Autistic Society and Character.com to develop a range of children’s clothing that is autism friendly.
The condition, which affects 1 in 100 people in the world, affects how a person communicates and interacts with the world around them. Autism is unique to each individual and causes an onset of different challenges, with some sufferers being highly sensitive to the texture and colour of certain materials making some clothes uncomfortable and even painful to wear.
The new collaboration features a range of garments emblazoned with beloved children’s character Thomas the Tank Engine.
Karren Hewitt – the co-founder of Character.com – said: “At Character.com, we value charitable relationships and responding to our customers’ needs.
“As a result, we are thrilled to introduce this Thomas and Friends range that Mattel developed in collaboration with the National Autistic Society. The Character.com team are delighted to be selling a range that was unique to the industry and provided our consumers with exactly what they needed. We are thrilled to be able to contribute to such a worthy cause, and we hope that this is the start of many such initiatives from Character.com.”
The National Autistic Society conducted an extensive study with the families of autistic children, and also ran focus groups at the trust’s Helen Allison School in Kent.
The study found that children preferred softer fabric as well as specific colours and the ease of being able to put the clothes on.
The collection was made with the findings of the study in mind and has included soft fabrics as well as loose-fitting T-shirts, jumpers, and tracksuits.
Peter Watt, director, national programs, National Autistic Society, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Thomas and Friends and Character.com to create such an important range of clothing for autistic children and teens.
“Parents and autistic young people often tell us how sensory sensitivities can mean that children on the autism spectrum struggle with certain clothes. For some, a label on a T-shirt, a prominent seam or certain fabrics could be incredibly itchy, distracting or even physically painful. Finding the right clothing can make shopping difficult, time consuming and stressful. So, it’s really great to have the chance to develop this autism-friendly collection.”
The clothing range officially launches on Chatacter.com during World Autism Acceptance Week on 2 April 2022.

David Gandy is scared of ageing

OHMYGOSSIP — David Gandy isn’t “particularly happy” with the way he looks and he fears the effects of ageing.
The 42-year-old model – who has been dubbed Britain’s most handsome man and is one of the best paid men in the fashion industry – is scared that the looks that have made him a billboard star will fade and he is particularly concerned that his nose and ears will get out of hand as they never stop growing.
Speaking in the Daily Mail newspaper’s Eden Confidential column, he said: “I’m not particularly happy with the way I’m looking at the moment. I’m not at my fighting weight, as I call it.
“The two things that scare me is that apparently your ears and nose carry on growing. If that’s true, I am in massive amounts of trouble!”
Gandy shares daughters Matilda, three, and four-month-old Tabitha with his barrister girlfriend Stephanie Mendoros and he has hinted that more babies could be in their future as he has always dreamed of having a big family.
He said: “My sister has five children. So I have five nephews and nieces. We have great fun together bouncing around on the trampoline when I go to visit them. Dora too. They all want to play. I’ve seen them growing up. It’s a great family.
“I’m definitely not going to try and beat that record. Stephanie can have five. I’ll have five cars.”

Christine Quinn drops new ShoeDazzle collection

OHMYGOSSIP — Christine Quinn has launched her second collection with ShoeDazzle.
The ‘Selling Sunset’ star says the 20-piece drop is for girls who “want a hot girl summer”.
She said: “This collection is for just any girl who wants a hot girl summer, which I think is all of us really after COVID-19.
“It’s that girl that is tired of being in makeup and sweatpants. She’s waxed and vaxxed and ready to go and ready to have fun. I think that’s where we’re all at right now.”
The footwear includes OTT heels, wedges and sandals in summery shades, plus a bedazzled gladiator shoe and animal print kitten heels to match the realtor’s loud personality.
The 33-year-old reality star added to WWD: “It was really just elevating what I already loved about the extra-ness of ShoeDazzle and being able to create this really fun vibe that matches my personality.
“It was really fun not only to play with the colours, but the metals, jewels, stones and everything in between. We went with a lot of patterns, too.”
Christine previously revealed the key to being able to last in killer heels is wearing flats most of the time.
The blonde beauty admitted that when the cameras aren’t rolling she takes off her high heels and lives in pumps.
Asked how tall the highest heel she has ever worn is, she replied: “Probably six inches. Everyone’s like, ‘How do you walk in those shoes all day when you work?’ And I don’t walk in them all day. When I’m in houses, if I’m not doing meetings, if I’m sitting at the office … so when I don’t need to wear them, I put my flats on. It’s just all about saving your feet. That’s my biggest trick.”
Christine wanted her line to prove that you don’t have to spend a fortune on designer shoes to be “fashionable”.
She explained: “That’s the number one thing – people think that, in order to be fashionable, you have to spend $500 on a pair of shoes. And I have probably hundreds of pairs of shoes. And I would say the expensive ones are only a little portion because I love to mix it up, and sometimes you only wear looks once. So I was just so excited about the affordability, and the fact that everyone could have a pair and look good in them.”

Twiggy reveals the lotions she uses to smoothen out her dry skin

OHMYGOSSIP — Twiggy suffers from dry skin.
The 72-year-old fashion icon – whose real name is Dame Lesley Lawson – has revealed the most important part of her beauty routine is slapping on plenty of moisturiser, and the Charlotte Tilbury ambassador swears by their Magic Cream and Magic Night Cream.
She said: “I have dry skin, lots of moisturiser is really important to me.”
However, she insisted drinking plenty of water and getting in plenty of shut-eye is also key to maintaining her ageless complexion.
She added to People: “A good night’s sleep and of course a healthy diet.”
The model previously revealed her “number one” beauty rule is to “always” remove her makeup before bed.
The catwalk legend keeps her skin glowing by cleansing her face every evening and taking off any leftover cosmetic products “no matter how tired or drunk” she is.
She said: “My number one rule: I never sleep with make-up on – ever. No matter how late it is, how tired or drunk, always take your make-up off!”
Twiggy was discovered at the age of 16 and was known for her iconic cropped haircut, big eyes and huge eyelashes, and still uses a lengthening mascara to this day because when she was modelling, make-up artists would apply “three sets of lashes” to make her eyes pop on camera.
She added: “When I do my own make-up, I don’t have any particular brands that I use, but I think my base today is Chanel, which is a nice fluid one. I have very dry skin so I have to have make-up that doesn’t dry it out. I’m not sure which mascara I use but it’s one that adds length because I have really short lashes.
“In the old days I used to wear three sets of false lashes but I can’t be bothered with that anymore – I gave up on them a long time ago! And rouge! My favourite rouge is the old-fashioned Bourjois Little Round Pop Blusher. They haven’t changed it for years and they’re lovely shades – I go for the rosy ones so it looks like I’m naturally flushed.”
Twiggy has spent over 50 years in the fashion and beauty industry, and the supermodel went on to admit that she religiously gets “manicures and pedicures” and has her hair “highlighted” in the same salon she has used since she was “discovered” as a teen.
She said: “Every two weeks I get my nails done – manicures and pedicures – with gel on my hands and toes just normal paint.
“I have my hair highlighted by Poppy Conaway at the Gielly Green Boutique Salon, who I’ve gone to for years, since I was 16 when I was ‘discovered’. I go every three months. I’ve never been brave enough to try lots of different colours. I’ve always done my own makeup.”

Travis Barker admits getting glam done was alien to him

OHMYGOSSIP — Travis Barker admits getting glammed up for the Oscars was alien to him.
The Blink-182 rocker – who attended the awards ceremony in Los Angeles with his fiance Kourtney Kardashian, 42, at the weekend – is used to drumming topless and admitted he was out of his comfort zone having his makeup done.
Taking part in Vanity Fair’s ‘To the Nines’ series, he said: “For me, I kind of have a uniform I feel really comfortable in which usually is no shirt, a pair of pants and some Converse or some Doc Martens.
“I get nervous playing in a suit.
“I’m so used to playing with no shirt on and just being free. I’m wondering if like, my stick is going to caught in the cuff?”
The 46-year-old pop-punk icon revealed he was offered a chapstick to keep his lips moist, had his nails trimmed and got dusted in powder.
He added: “I never really have a glam team — I never get powder or whatever, but this is the Oscars so I’ll do whatever.
“I put lotion on, made sure my nails were cut, and made sure my lips were moisturised.
“I don’t even know what to tell [the makeup artist] to do, because it’s not in my pocket.”
The ‘What’s My Age Again?’ hitmaker insisted he would never wear anything that isn’t his style.
He explained: “It’s not changing your identity, it’s just enhancing yours and you still feel like yourself in whatever these close are.
“I can see something or try it on immediately and be like, ‘Nope, that’s not me.’ Making sure the clothes don’t wear me and I wear the clothes is super important.”
While the heavily-tattooed hunk is unlikely to don a suit on stage anytime soon, he’s getting used to wearing them.
He said: “I like the juxtapose of me being at the Oscars.
“It like, doesn’t quite fit, but it does. Just like seeing me in a suit doesn’t quite fit but it does.”
Travis added: “I’ve found suits that I like.”

Nicole Kidman embraces ‘quiet elegance’

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicole Kidman opted for “quiet elegance” at the Oscars on Sunday (27.03.22).
The ‘Being the Ricardos’ star – who was nominated for Best Actress but lost out to ‘The Eyes of Tammy Faye’ star Jessica Chastain – wore a custom Armani Privé light blue strapless silk faille gown, which was accented by a peplum skirt with an exaggerated bow and embellished train, to this year’s Academy Awards and her stylist, Julia von Boehm felt it was important for the actress to adopt a “timeless” look.
She told Vogue.com: “It derives from a very classic silhouette—it’s timeless. I think that’s what the Academy calls for, but also what the time calls for.”
Julia believes it is important for Hollywood stars to offer “glamour” on the red carpet because of the escapism fashion can offer during difficult times.
She said: “You can’t just strip it all [back] because that’s not what the world is. We all need a little bit of show business and glamour to keep dreaming and having hope [during] all of this—I think it’s very important. That’s what’s supposed to happen on the red carpet in my opinion.”
And Nicole and her team wanted to honour the hundreds of hours of work that went into creating her look for the night.
Julia said: “It honours the designer’s craftsmanship; the couture [design.”
The ‘Big Little Lies’ star has attended the Oscars several times since 1991 and her outfits have always had one thing in common.
Her stylist said: “[The dress] can be surprising, but it always keeps a certain elegance.”

Jamie Lee Curtis paid tribute to Betty White with Oscars outfit

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Lee Curtis honoured the late Betty White with her outfit at the Academy Awards on Sunday (27.03.22).
The ‘Halloween’ actress wanted to pay tribute to the ‘Golden Girls’ star – who died last December aged 99 – because she was asked to honour her as part of the ceremony so turned to designer Stella McCartney for her dress because the designer shares Betty’s passion for animal rights.
Showing off her stunning navy gown, the 63-year-old star told ‘Access Hollywood’: “Betty White was an animal rights activist and when I knew I was going to make a statement about her I went to Stella McCartney, who is an animals right activist. Stella, who uses sustainable materials [and] non-animal materials.
“I went to [her] and said, ‘Hey, is it possible you might have something for me to wear to the Oscars?’ And they made me this dress. I feel like it is telling Betty’s story.”
In keeping with her theme, Jamie opted to accessorise her dress with recycled platinum and ethically-sourced diamond marquise star earrings by Cathy Waterman.
The ‘True Lies’ actress spoke about Betty – who she starred with in 2010 movie ‘You Again’ during the show’s In Memoriam segment.
Coming on stage at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood with a puppy, she said: “She was not only a Golden Girl, she was a legend who brightened every room she walked in and brought a smile to the faces of all who watched on her on the screen and day in and day out for almost a century, she was a woman who cared not just for her two-legged friends but for animals just like this.
“So the greatest gift you could give Betty White is to open your heart and home and adopt a rescue dog just like Mac’N’Cheese from Paw Works. Thank you Betty, for being a friend to us all.”

Jessica Chastain goes ‘Old Hollywood’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessica Chastain felt “very Old Hollywood” at the Oscars on Sunday (27.03.22).
The 45-year-old actress – who took home the Best Actress accolade for her lead role in ‘The Eyes of Tammy Faye’ – walked the red carpet at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre in a bronze and purple ombre Gucci gown, which boasted an organza ruffle-trimmed hem and sequin detail, and she knew as soon as she saw the dress it was perfect for her.
Jessica – who accessorised her outfit with diamond and white gold jewellery, she said: “When I saw the sketch, I was, like, ‘You know what — this looks like a dress I haven’t seen before.
“It just felt like me because also there’s something about it that feels very Old Hollywood…but it has sparkles, which is very me.”
Jessica was at the event with husband Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo but was happy to spend time greeting the fans who had lined the red carpet for a glimpse of their idols.
She said: “Those people are the only reason I get to do what I do.”
The red-haired beauty also paid tribute to her fellow Best Actress nominees, Olivia Colman (‘The Lost Daughter’), Penelope Cruz (‘Parallel Mothers’), Nicole Kidman (‘Being the Ricardos’), and Kristen Stewart (‘Spencer’).
She gushed: “The most incredible group of women.
“These women are phenomenal. They’re like my goddesses, so I’m so happy [to have been nominated with them].”
‘The Eyes of Tammy Faye’ won the Best Makeup and Hairstyling Oscar and Jessica previously revealed playing the late televangelist, who was known for her thick layers of cosmetics, had caused “permanent damage” to her skin.
She said: “I think for sure I’ve done some permanent damage to my skin on this.
“Listen, I eat very pure and I take very good care of my skin and I stay out of the sun and all that stuff. But it’s heavy. And when you’re wearing it all day every day — the weight of it on your body, it stretches your skin out.
“I finally took it off and I was like, ‘I look 50 years old!’ [Laughs.] No, I’m kidding. But it’s fine. It’s for my art.”

Margaret Qualley prefers acting to fashion modelling

OHMYGOSSIP — Margaret Qualley prefers acting to fashion modelling.
The ‘Maid’ star – who is the daughter of ‘Groundhog Day’ star Andie MacDowell and property contractor Paul Qualley – adores how acting is “so scary” and embracing that makes your work “better”.
The 27-year-old model-turned-actress told AnOther magazine: “What I love about acting is that it’s so scary. The messier you are, the more mistakes you make, the more vulnerable you are, the better it is.”
Margaret admitted to being “really hard” when he used juggle her modelling career.
She said: “I was really hard on myself when I was in high school and modelling, and just trying to be perfect at everything.”
The ‘Once Upon A Time in Hollywood’ star spilled about being a “victim” of strict casting requirements body requirements, calling it “a dark, ugly place to exist”.
“Hopefully now there’s more body inclusivity and celebrating all of the variations of bodies. It’s wild that we shift through people with the same criteria in mind, that people have checklists. I’ve been a victim of that, and it’s a dark, ugly place to exist.
The Netflix star left modelling after four months after she “realised it wasn’t good for me.”
Following this, her then-boyfriend Nat Wolff – who starred in ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ – took her to an acting class that she “loved” because it taught her she could make a career about opening up her much-repressed feelings.
Margaret said: “The thing that I loved was that back then I didn’t give myself permission to have many feelings in life. I was an incredibly disciplined, controlled person, that didn’t talk very much, and nodded a lot, and never broke the rules. So I didn’t have permission to do anything or have any feelings, basically. And then I went to an acting class and I got really mad, got really sad and had all the feelings. And I was like, ‘This is great! I could try to get paid to do this – that would be nuts.’ And I still feel that way.”
Margaret also shared it was “terrifying” to introduce her current boyfriend Jack Antonoff – the longtime record producer collaborator and pal of Taylor Swift – to her parents.

Marc Jacobs loves Dover Street Market

OHMYGOSSIP — Marc Jacobs loves Dover Street Market “anywhere in the world”.
The 58-year-old fashion designer loves the store – that sells brands such Comme de Garcons, Balenciaga, Celine and Gucci – but has a special palace for the original “mother lode” outlet in London.
Marc told the Evening Standard Magazine: “Dover Street Market anywhere in the world is great, but the London one is like the mother lode of all Dover Streets. I think in London you really see more than anywhere else in the world a huge enthusiasm and love for fashion. You see it on so many different levels, whether people are fashion people or whether they are just kids who are into some kind of scene or music or whatever — it’s just always been that way. I mean, culturally I think New York, London and Tokyo are the street fashion capitals of the world. Everyone who works at Dover Street Market, everyone who goes in there, is cool and very stylish.”
When the fashionista – who has run his eponymous line since the 90s – is in the UK’s capital he loves to ring up his “dear friend” supermodel Kate Moss, who he “doesn’t get to see very much”.
Marc – who has been married to his husband Charly Defrancesco since 2019 – said: “I’ve got a lot of friends who live here and I don’t get to see very much of them. So, you know, I wouldn’t say I call her to go out and have fun, but I always look forward to seeing Kate. My dear friend Kate [Moss].”
After being asked if what building he would purchase and reside in, the former Louis Vuitton creative director opted to just have a his “own place in Claridges,” the Mayfair luxury hotel.
Marc said: “I wouldn’t buy it, but I feel really comfortable at Claridge’s. I’ve been staying there for decades and they’ve just renovated it. I certainly wouldn’t buy the building, but I would be very happy to own a place within Claridge’s where I can just have a closet of my stuff and come and go as I please.”

Kim Kardashian ‘didn’t get it’ when Balenciaga Met Gala outfit was pitched

OHMYGOSSIP — Kim Kardashian “didn’t get it” when her infamous 2021 Met Gala outfit was first suggested.
The 41-year-old beauty stepped out at the annual fashion extravaganza in September covered completely head to toe in an all-black Balenciaga ensemble and while she was uncertain about the look when the brand’s creative director, Demna Gvasalia – who also covered up in a black hoodie and sweatpants – first suggested it, she had the “trust” in him to take a “big risk”.
Speaking at Vogue’s Forces of Fashion conference, she said: “When he told me about the idea, I could tell he was trying to ease me into it.
“At first, I didn’t get it. I can’t go to the Met and cover my face; what is my glam team going to do? But I trust Demna 100 percent. You have to have that trust so that even when you’re taking a big risk, you know it’ll be worth it.”
The SKIMS founder has relished the chance to work closely with a number of fashion legends in recent years.
Speaking of her collaboration with the late Manfried Theirry Mugler, she said: “It’s just so cool to see a fashion legend at work.
“You think you know everything, but you learn so much just by looking at their [work], seeing what inspires them, and how their houses operate.”
Despite Kim being completely covered at the Met Gala thanks to her outfit, which featured a long-sleeve turtleneck bodysuit with an oversized t-shirt dress with a long train, rounding off the look with boots, gloves and a mask over her face and head, she still wore make-up underneath.
Her make-up artist Mario Dedivanovic revealed on Instagram he was still there for Kim to help her get ready as he showed off a range of products.
He wrote at the time: “Prepping @kimkardashian’s skin for the #Met Gala tonight with #cremedelamer”.
Alongside another snap of the reality star, he added: “Behind the mask”

Ariana Grande loves science of beauty line

OHMYGOSSIP — Ariana Grande loves the “science” behind her make-up line.
The ‘God is a Woman’ hitmaker launched r.e.m. beauty in November and she has particularly enjoyed manufacturing products with the right “pigment and smells” because she is “kind of a nerd”.
She told Vogue.co.uk: “I have learned so much about the science – working on the formulas and overcoming obstacles while we push for the best pigment, smells and yummiest everything possible. Being involved on a granular level has been so fun for me, because I love science – I’m kind of a nerd in that way!”
As well as creating the products, Ariana has also enjoyed coming up with “cool” packaging designs.
She added: “From a physical perspective, the packaging is also so much fun. I love that I’ve been able to do a little bit of that with fragrance over the years, but it’s different with make-up – it is so cool. I’m just so happy with the world that [my team and I] have created together.”
Ariana is excited by the new eyeshadows she’s adding to her range.
She said: “We’re expanding the r.e.m. range with three new palettes. There are so many fun, statement colours in them – there’s some really great ’60s colours in the Midnight Snack palette. I love to use [eyeshadow] to create a cat eye or negative space cut crease.”
Meanwhile, the ‘thank u, next’ hitmaker admitted her skincare routine is one thing that helps her to unwind every day.
Asked how she relaxes, she said: “It has nothing to do with beauty, but I love meditation, taking a long bath and doing my skincare. Anything that feels like you’re giving yourself that moment of care and committing to it, whether that’s skincare before bed or a bath.
“Whenever I meditate, I use lavender essential oils – it immediately triggers calmness.”

Lisa Rinna wants Harry Hamlin to work on her beauty line

OHMYGOSSIP — Lisa Rinna wants to collaborate with Harry Hamlin on her beauty line.
The 58-year-old star launched Rinna Beauty – a range of glosses, lip liners, lipsticks and a lip plumper – in December 2020 and after previously working with her daughters Delilah and Amelia on the collection, she now wants her husband to get involved.
She told Page Six Style: “You know, I that is a good idea and could very easily happen. I think I could do it. I have a feeling I could make that happen.”
The ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ star teamed up with Amelia, 20, for a trio of rosy products in November last year, and her range with Delilah, 23, will be out soon.
Lisa found working with her girls “so easy”.
She said: “They both did it and it wasn’t difficult at all. It was so easy because I just said, ‘Pick your favourite lip colour and lipstick and gloss and your favourite pencil.’ And then we just made it. Like they just said, ‘This is what I want.’ And they made it.
“So it was really easy — really, really easy.”
The former ‘Days of Our Lives’ star recently insisted her new lip plumper was an obvious product for her beauty range.
She said: “I mean, I jokingly call myself the lip pioneer, because I literally was one of the very first to augment my lips when I was 24 years old.”
Lisa admitted she began getting plumping her pout “a very long time ago”.
She quipped: “And if you do the math, that’s a very long time ago. So, to come full circle — I mean everyone and their mothers has done it. Like, I can’t tell you if there’s anyone in Los Angeles that I work with that hasn’t augmented their lips. Now it’s an accepted thing.”
Lisa has “always” wanted to do a plumper since she first launched her “initial vision”.
She said: “The lip kit was really my initial vision, but we always were going to do a plumper, because, authentically, that makes a lot of sense. It just does. I mean, it would be stupid not to.”

Victoria Beckham has ‘always loved beauty products’

OHMYGOSSIP — Victoria Beckham has “always loved beauty products”.
The former Spice Girl – who now runs her eponymous high end fashion line – felt there was a “gap in the market” based on what she wanted to use for herself, prompting her to collaborate with Sarah Creal, who was the head of product development at Estee Lauder, to establish a cosmetics range, Victoria Beckham Beauty.
The 47-year-old fashion designer told W magazine: I’ve always loved beauty products but felt there was a gap in the market for clean, high-performing, luxury products—some of which were missing from my own makeup bag. When I met my co-founder, Sarah Creal, a longtime beauty executive, we discovered we had a shared passion and philosophy; a future where cleanly formulated, sustainably minded, cruelty-free, and high-performing products are the norm—and we were inspired to create it together.”
Victoria – who has sons Brooklyn, 23, Romeo, 19, Cruz, 17, and daughter Harper, 10, with her husband David Beckham, 46 – loves a “glossy pout nude lip” so she uses her Lip Definer in 02 before adding Posh Gloss in Tanline or Poolside from her Posh Glosses line.
She said: “For my own glossy nude lip, I start with Lip Definer in 02 just around my cupid’s bow and bottom lip. Then, I apply Posh Gloss ($28/£26) in either Tanline or Poolside on the top and bottom, with an extra touch in the center for a higher shine.
