Emma Corrin not scared of fashion

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Corrin isn’t “scared” of fashion.
The ‘Crown’ star – who is a brand ambassador for both Miu Miu and Cartier – works with stylist Harry Lambert, and he enjoys teaming up with the actress to pull together red carpet looks because they are not afraid to take risks.
Harry told America’s Vogue magazine: “What’s exciting about working with Emma is that they’re a risk-taker. They want to have fun. They’re excited by fashion. They’re not scared of it.”
The 26-year-old star – who is non-binary and uses gender neutral pronouns – admitted they have “struggled” having to wear bras in various acting roles.
They said: “I remember struggling with having to wear bras in ‘Chatterley’ and as Marion [in ‘My Policeman’], but it’s quite difficult, because I’m not Emma, right?
“I’m an actor, and I have a job to do. My dresser and I really had a laugh about me putting on these 1960s bras.”
Emma feels “much more seen” when people use gender neutral pronouns to refer to them but “doesn’t mind” when their friends use feminine terms to address them because they’ve known them for so long.
Emma said: “I feel much more seen when I’m referred to as ‘they,’ but my closest friends, they will call me ‘she,’ and I don’t mind, because I know they know me.
“In my mind, gender just isn’t something that feels fixed and I don’t know if it ever will be; there might always be some fluidity there for me.”
The ‘Feel Good’ star is happy to use their profile to speak out on gender issues and has found it beneficial to them, not just other people.
They said: “If you have a platform and you’re able to use it, that’s obviously so important—and I met some incredible people through it.”

Jean Paul Gaultier told Olivier Rousteing to follow his institution for his guest collection

OHMYGOSSIP — Jean Paul Gaultier advised Olivier Rousteing to follow his institution for his guest collection.
The Balmain creative director – who is a favourite of Kim Kardashian, Alessandra Ambrosio and Bella and Gigi Hadid – was told to be “just be yourself” by the 70-year-old design legend when he was given the reins to the brand for a one-off collaboration.
The 36-year-old fashion designer told WWD: “This collaboration helped me to understand who I am without Balmain. My femininity here is different than at Balmain. My girl is more tough.”
Olivier wanted to leave the “party” vibes from Balmain behind and focus less on “glamour”.
He said: “I don’t think glamour will be the word that you will use for this collection.”
The fashionista labelled Jean Paul in the same league as fashion legends such as Karl Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent.
Olivier said: “As a designer, he was really inspirational because he was one of the few designers that could be a creative director, but also iconic, known around the world and popular. His face was as known as his clothes.”
Olivier gushed about how he believes that the creator of Madonna’s cone bra paved the way for the wave of “inclusivity” currently washing through the industry.
He said: “Today we are talking about inclusivity; we are talking about gender; we are talking about binaries; we’re saying that a man can dress as a woman and a woman can dress as a man; about the freedom to be who you want to be without the judgement of society. And clearly Jean Paul Gaultier did that way before all of us. We talk about inclusivity and diversity. Look at his first shows!”

Mattel releases a Barbie marking the 50th anniversary of David Bowie’s album Hunky Dory

OHMYGOSSIP — David Bowie has inspired another Barbie.
Mattel has developed a doll inspired by the late music legend’s ‘Hunky Dory’ era – complete with the red mullet, powder blue and platform loafers – to mark the 50th anniversary of the ‘Life of Mars’ 1972 video.
The doll comes with a bold blue eyeshadow and a hairstyle inspired by Bowie’s ’70s glam era bring this look to life,” according to a description for the doll, which comes with a stand and a Certificate of Authenticity.
Linda Kyaw-Merschon, the company’s design manager said: “[We] wanted to make sure it looked like Barbie, but as Bowie, not Bowie exactly as himself. We tried to emulate his essence as much as we can. He was quite slender and pale, so we made sure to capture that as best could. Balance is key. Tricky, but I think you’ll see what I mean when you see the doll in real life.”
The iconic toy manufacturer has already paid an homage to the late artist – who died in January 2016, aged 69, after being diagnosed with liver cancer – in doll form as in 2019 they brought out a Barbie inspired by his Ziggy Stardust era.
The description read: “In a definitive celebration of two pop culture icons, Barbie honours the ultimate pop chameleon, English singer, songwriter and actor David Bowie, whose dramatic musical transformations continue to influence and inspire.
“This collectible Barbie doll honours the cultural legacy of the musical genius who redefined rock and roll … Colours and decoration may vary.”

Freida Pinto says corsets are ‘transformative’

OHMYGOSSIP — Freida Pinto says corsets are “transformative”.
The ‘Mr Malcolm’s List’ star found getting into the period appropriate outfits makes it feel like “you are no longer in 2022”.
The 37-year-old actress told InStyle: “This was my first time doing a period film, and the only thing I’d ever heard about other people doing period films is everyone talks about a corset. There’s a transformative quality to costumes from that time period. As soon as you’re in that corset, as soon as your hair is done, and as soon as you have your final outfit and your bonnet on, you are no longer in 2022.”
Freida gushed about being “heartened” by the increase in diverse casting in show’s like hers and Netflix’s ‘Bridgerton’.
She said: “I feel very heartened by it. I’m also really wary that we don’t call this a trend, because this is not really a trend. This is normal,” Pinto explains. “To see people of colour fall in love with each other, and have schemes and have a sense of humour, and have riches and not have riches, I feel like all of that just seems to be something that, for me, feels like it should be normalized in film and television, as opposed to being jarred by it or call it a trend.”
The ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ star believes that – despite the technological and social advancements – “dating today and courting back then have a lot in common”.
Freida said: “You swipe left, swipe right, whatever today. Back then, you’d basically be courting someone with a chaperone, and it may sometimes work out — and it sometimes doesn’t. The only thing back then was you couldn’t be compromised. You couldn’t hold hands, and you couldn’t do all the kinds of things you do on your first date in the modern world. With the exception of that, dating today and courting back then have a lot in common.”

Dakota Johnson feels like the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz ‘on a conveyor belt of beauty treatments’

OHMYGOSSIP — Dakota Johnson feels like the Tin Man from the the Wizard of Oz “on a conveyor belt of beauty treatments”.
The ‘Persuasion’ star compared her beauty regime to that of a scene from 1939 movie starring Judy Garland.
The 32-year-old actress told Vanity Fair: “I’m on a conveyor belt of beauty treatments. You know that scene in ‘The Wizard of Oz’? One of them is getting stuffed with hay, and the Tin Man is getting polished. I feel like that’s me.”
Dakota gushed about her friendship with Alessandro Michele, the creative director Gucci, and how when he’s able to be present with her unlike others.
She said: “We talk a lot, we text. I don’t feel he’s elsewhere when I speak to him, which I feel most of the time when I speak to people that work in fashion.”
The ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ star revealed she “did those big naked movies” – where she brought to life the trilogy’s Anastasia Steele opposite Jamie Dornan’s billionaire Christian Grey – because she was “a sexual person” and that she was sold a “ very different version”
“I’m a sexual person, and when I’m interested in something, I want to know so much about it. That’s why I did those big naked movies. I signed up to do a very different version of the film we ended up making.”
Dakota also gave other insight -such as the books’ author EL James’ level of control – into the making of the movie.
“She had a lot of creative control, all day, every day, and she just demanded that certain things happen. There were parts of the books that just wouldn’t work in a movie, like the inner monologue, which was at times incredibly cheesy. It wouldn’t work to say out loud. It was always a battle. Always. When I auditioned for that movie, I read a monologue from ‘Persona’ and I was like, ‘Oh, this is going to be really special.’ ”
“I was young. I was 23. So it was scary. It just became something crazy. There were a lot of different disagreements. I haven’t been able to talk about this truthfully ever, because you want to promote a movie the right way, and I’m proud of what we made ultimately and everything turns out the way it’s supposed to, but it was tricky.”

Serena Williams regrets not wearing Virgil Abloh’s outfit at French Open

OHMYGOSSIP — Serena Williams “wasn’t brave enough” to wear an outfit designed by Virgil Abloh to the French Open in 2019.
The former artistic director of Louis Vuitton died in November 2021, aged 41, after a cancer battle, and Serena now regrets declining the chance to wear his daring outfit on court.
Speaking to Vogue in a film tribute, she said: “I still kind of regret not doing what Virgil told me to do.
“He wanted me to wear this long skirt with the crazy train, and then a cape with a train, and then just walk out on the court. And I’m thinking, ‘Virgil, I like fashion, and I like pushing the envelope, but this – I just don’t think I can do this.'”
Serena is well-known for wearing bold outfits on court and her own love of fashion.
And the record-breaking star previously revealed that her daughter is already following in her footsteps.
Serena – who has Alexis, four, with her husband Alexis Ohanian – explained: “She only wears dresses and she loves to wear heels, so it’s kind of fun. Because when I was younger, I used to love wearing princess dresses as well.”
Serena also revealed that she loves the feeling of wearing jewellery during her matches.
The former Wimbledon champion shared: “I was like, I want to wear bling on the court, but I wanted it to be really quality, yet, being able to endure me hitting balls at 130 miles per hour.
“And so I actually bought a lot of my jewellery there and won championships. For me, I just have this natural connection to Zales. Because they’ve been a part of my life and they had no idea.”

Brooke Shields teaches daughters to stand up to online trolls

OHMYGOSSIP — Brooke Shields teaches her daughters to “maintain a sense of self” and to “stand up” to online trolls.
The 57-year old model launched her own wellness brand, ‘Beginning is Now’, in December as an online platform for women to learn to live life on their own terms, and she’s now revealed the messages she gives to her daughters.
Brooke – who has Rowan, 19, and Grier, 16 with husband Chris Henchy – told E! News: “They have been privy to me as an example their whole lives. So rather than it being ‘you should do this, you should do that,’ if I’m faced with something, I speak to them about it.
“They’ll say, ‘Mom, it’s amazing how nasty people can be.’
“That’s a moment for a conversation rather than dictating to them.”
Brooke also hopes to inspire her children through her own success.
She explained: “They’re seeing me start my own company.
“They’re watching their mom navigate the world of business after having a certain type of a career and they’re saying, ‘Well, if she can do it, what do I want to do? I don’t have to follow in her footsteps but what I can do is maintain a sense of self, stand up for myself, own my person and everything that that entails.'”
Brooke ultimately hopes that her wellness site will inspire all women – not just her daughters – to lead by example.
She said: “Women find themselves over a certain age and their life takes on a huge shift and they’re not encouraged to try new things and open up new doors.
“And that’s the message. It’s a liberation, if you will, of what we’re told that we’re done.”

Dame Helen Mirren: I don’t worry about ageing

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Helen Mirren doesn’t worry about ageing.
The 76-year-old actress – who became a brand ambassador for L’Oreal Paris in 2014 – has encouraged older women to celebrate and embrace the ageing process.
Asked for her thoughts on the ageing process, the actress told YOU magazine: “Don’t worry about it. The reality is you die young or you get old.
“I’m eternally curious about life – and technology. It’s the saddest thing in the world that Kurt Cobain never knew what GPS was: that little blue dot moving along. How can that possibly exist? It’s so exciting.
“If the price you pay [for experiencing progress] is getting older, then I’m happy to pay the price.”
Despite this, Helen knows she needs to take better care of her skin than ever before.
She said: “I do love a suntan. My excuse is I’ve got to get my vitamin D. I try to be more careful now, because as you get older you start to see the effects, and you say: ‘I see, that’s what they were talking about.'”
The Oscar-winning actress has also shared some of her beauty secrets, revealing she uses a refrigerator in preparation for red carpet events.
She explained: “A good one I was given is to open your refrigerator and pop your face in for 30 seconds after doing your make-up – to cool and set it.”
The ‘Collateral Beauty’ star has worn make-up since the age of 14 and confessed to hoarding products for over 20 years.
She said: “When I was maybe 14, it was incredibly fashionable to have white lipstick. I bought my first from Woolworths and I must have looked horrible.
“I love make-up and I’m probably at my happiest sitting putting it on.
“I find it difficult to throw away make-up because I get attached to it. I’ve had some bits for 20 years – it’s embarrassing.”

Iris Law ‘reversed acne scarring’ with new facial

OHMYGOSSIP — Iris Law reversed her acne scarring with the Kichi Baby Face facial.
The 21-year-old model – whose parents are Sadie Frost and Jude Law – turned to Natasha Clancy, a clinical aesthetician and the founder of Kichi, for help when she landed her recent Versace campaign.
Natasha told Vogue.co.uk: “I have worked with actresses for the Oscars, BAFTAs and the Met Gala, and we treat the skin seven days in advance to give it time to resurface, and for glow to peak. I recently helped Iris reverse her acne scarring for a Versace campaign, which we achieved in three Baby Face sessions over six weeks.”
Irish said: “As someone who has struggled to find the right clinic to deal with my acne and scarring, Kichi was so refreshing. It’s somewhere I can trust to go and get a no-fuss treatment with real results.”
The Kichi Baby Face facial is popular because it targets dull skin, pigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, melasma and acne scars.
Natasha explained: “The reason we can target so many concerns is because the laser creates microchannels of 0.3mm into the top layer of the skin (or papillary dermis), so the epidermis isn’t harmed and stays intact. The micro-channels stay open for 48 hours, which is when we feed it a targeted serum – tranexamic acid to target melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation scarring; retinol for active acne and ageing; and resveratrol and vitamin C for glow – 90 per cent of which is absorbed by the skin.”

Olivia Culpo only works out to look good in a bikini

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Culpo only works out to look good in her bikinis.
The 30-year-old model and actress has to stay in shape for her career but admitted she hates working out with her NFL running back boyfriend Christian McCaffrey, because his training is way more intense than hers.
She told PEOPLE at the Create Cultivate LA Conference: “Honestly, I hate working out with him. Because he is a professional athlete. He works out for a profession.
“It’s just impossible. Like the amount of weight that he’s lifting, there’s no point in even trying to do anything within the realm of what he is doing.
“I work out just so I can get by in my bikinis. For him, it’s just a different level and he always wants to make sure that my form is perfect and things like that. It can be annoying, [and] we’ll work out [together] to some degree, but he’s just so particular about the workouts.”
And Olivia hates when Christian, 26, tries to correct her form.
She said: “I’m just like, ‘Let me do my thing. This is what I’m going to do. I’m going to do me. You do you.’ But it’s fun! I’m more like, watching him.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicola Peltz Beckham “almost fainted” when Hillary Clinton complimented her wedding dress.
The 27-year-old actress met the former First Lady at the Met Gala in May and could not believe when Hillary, 74, not only knew who she was but told her that she loved her custom Valentino couture wedding gown.
Nicola told Tatler: “She knew who I was and I almost fainted… She told me that she saw photos from my wedding and she loved my dress. I looked at Brooklyn like, ‘I can’t believe this is actually happening’.”
Nicola tied the knot with Brooklyn Beckham in April at her Palm Beach family home and said it was a “no brainer” to choose Valentino to create her gown.
She said: “It was a no-brainer. Seeing all the runway dresses in real life was so magic. It looked like someone’s dream closet.”
And Nicola’s stylist Leslie Fremar called the dress a “work of art”.
She said: “The simplicity of it was magnificent. We didn’t have to overly detail the dress to accomplish the magnitude of it, so we ended up eliminating the embroidery.”
She added: “Weddings come with many emotions. There’s stress, there’s excitement, there’s nerves… There’s lots of different energies going around. But the clothes are complete.”

OHMYGOSSIP — A new documentary about‘ Victoria’s Secret’ sex scandals will debut later this month.
‘Victoria’s Secret: Angels and Demons’ is set to follow the stream of sexual assault and harassment allegations following the iconic lingerie brand – who used to throw an annual fashion show with supermodel ‘Angel’s such as Adriana Lima, Gisele Bundchen and Alessandra Ambrosio – and its ex CEO Leslie H. Wexner and boasted the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein as a “close personal adviser”.
Investigative journalist Matt Tyrnauer is set to focus on their dynamic and in a trailer for the Hulu documentary – which will drop on the streaming service on July 14 after a premiere at Tribeca Film Festival – reads “Truth is not what it seems as the underworld of fashion, the billionaire class, and Jeffrey Epstein are revealed to all be inextricably intertwined with the fall of this legendary brand”

It’s about the design era: the world of design and marketing, fast-fashion, but also the people behind it and the power and influence that they wield… Since a lot of my films are about power and influence in the way that certain people manipulate the various power structures, this became interesting to me.”
The documentary will also feature contributions from former models, such as Frederique van der Wal and archive footage that shows a young Naomi Campbell.

David Beckham played football in a suit with Formula 1’s Charles Leclerc

OHMYGOSSIP — David Beckham wore a suit to play football with ‘Formula 1’’s Charles Leclerc.
The UN Goodwill ambassador didn’t stop being dressed to the nines to have a little kick about at the Miami Grand Prix with the team Ferrari driver, 24.
The 47-year-old former footballer told GQ: “He’s a really nice guy. Someone said to me, “Do you want to play football?” I said, “Well, I’m in a suit so, you know, not really…” but then when I saw Charles, I was like, yeah, if he’s going to do it, let’s do it. It was a lot of fun.”
David – who has sons Brooklyn, 23, Romeo, 19, Cruz, 17 and 10-year-old daughter Harper with his former Spice Girl wife Victoria, 48- loves driving because it lets him forget fame for a little while.
He said: “It’s a control thing. My life is so crazy most of the time and everyone wants something but when I drive or I’m on my motorbike, I can have peace. I don’t even listen to music. On the way down here, it was just… quiet. It’s the car I’m listening to. Everything about driving or riding bikes, that’s what I love. That’s when I have quiet time.”
David also said: “Everyone’s like, ‘why don’t you get a driver?’ [pause] I like to drive. I don’t like to be driven, ever, unless I’m going out for dinner and I might have a glass of wine. But that’s different.”
The former Manchester United star now questioned what he “used to do” with his collection of motors in his footballing heyday.
David said: “Well, I look back on some of the things I used to do with my cars and it’s a case of, “What was I thinking?” Spinning wheels, embroidery on the head-rests, all of that. But I love to try things. I was one of the first to get a Ferrari 575 Superamerica, in fact I still have it. Clever roof on that car. I always try to buy different things, although I went through the phase of buying the latest and greatest. But I’m 47 now, and I look at different cars now in a different way.”

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is ‘happy’ to be thought of as a ‘style icon’

OHMYGOSSIP — Dominic Calvert-Lewin is “happy” to be thought of as a “style icon”.
The Everton FC player loves that people look to him for fashion inspiration but wants to remain in his “own world” and follow his sartorial heart with help from his regular stylist Harry Lambert, who has dressed big names such as Harry Styles and Emma Corrin.
The 25-year-old footballer told GQ: “I just try and stay true to myself and wear what I want to wear depending on the mood I’m in. I’m happy that some people perceive me as some sort of fashion inspiration, but in all honesty I stay in my own world and do what I feel like doing.”
Dominic loved being dressed by the Armani when he recently attended the Armani Spring/Summer 2023 in Milan.
He said: “Fashion week is a new world for myself,” before gushing that the Italian fashion house “really grasped” his dress sense.
The former Sheffield United player – who loves 70s vibes and brands such as Gucci and Chanel – called it a “real honour” to meet Giorgio Armani while explaining why he picked a light blue suit with no shirt underneath.
Dominic said: “When I got to Milan I met with the team and got to learn a bit about the brand’s history, and it was a real honour to meet Mr Armani. I opted for the suit, because it’s right up my street – especially when worn with no T-shirt or vest. Lapo Elkann is my style icon, he’s got his tailoring down, and I like to channel that.”
“I generally like to wear suits and I wear a lot of them when I’m on holiday despite the weather. Usually I express myself the most when I’m off-season from football. I find that’s when I’m most relaxed and free to be able to do and enjoy what I want to do regarding my style.”

Yasmeen Fletcher thinks ‘precise’ eyeliner flicks are ‘really difficult’

OHMYGOSSIP — Yasmeen Fletcher thinks “precise” eyeliner flicks are “really difficult”.
The ‘Ms Marvel’ star understands the woes of getting that perfect “smokey eye type of wing” on both peepers and opts not to do it “everyday” because it can be a bit time consuming.
While filming the video ‘Yasmeen Fletcher’s 10-Minute Beauty Routine’ for Allure, the 19-year-old actress said:” Okay, so next I really like to just do a little bit of a smokey eye type of wing. Precise wings are really difficult and I don’t like to do that every day and it takes a lot of time.”
Yasmeen chose to use a Mary Kay eyeliner that her grandmother gave her as she explained how she worked her makeup magic.
She said: this is the Mary Kay eyeliner.I got it from my grandma. [laughs]. Just a little bit of a smudge from the corner of your eye in the direction that you wanna go and make sure that it’s dark’ cause you’re gonna have to blend it out. Doesn’t have to be perfect at all. And try to get it on the top of the lid as well, just to blend it that way. It took a really long time for me to perfect the wing look that I wanted.”
Yasmeen spilled how her time in the hair and makeup trailer for new Disney+ television series – which centres on the first female Muslim superhero – lead to sussing out the technique.
She said: “It really helped because the last character I played, Nakia in ‘Ms. Marvel’, wore a wing every day,so I got to watch them do it for me and after probably six, seven long months of them doing it for me, I kind of figured it out myself. So again, it’s okay if it’s not perfect,it’s just, you know, something small. And then try the other side.I’m pretty sure that’s even. I’m not sure, but we’re gonna go with it ’cause it’s okay. It’s just an everyday, throw-it-on type of look.”
