OHMYGOSSIP — Sophie Simnett had no pop singing experience before she auditioned for her role in Disney’s new musical series ‘The Lodge’.
The 18-year-old actress – who is from Chiswick, London – was studying for her A-Levels when she decided to go for the role of Skye, a 15-year-old girl who gives up her life in the city to look after her family’s country lodge in what has become Disney’s biggest new show in years.
Sophie was up against hundreds of other hopefuls and had to endure 13 auditions before being told she had been chosen to play Skye, even though her musical abilities were limited.
Speaking in the new issue of Wonderland magazine, she spilled: “When I was younger I sang in a barbershop quartet at school, but that’s about it. I did singing lessons with a teacher, but that was classical. And when I auditioned for The Lodge they were like, ‘Do you do pop?’
“There were 13 auditions, and I was doing my A-levels at the time. But I was busy, so you don’t really think about it and you just do the pop!”
‘The Lodge’ – which was filmed in Northern Ireland – first came to screens in September this year and has quickly become a major success being broadcast in 108 countries.
Sophie believes Skye has proven to be a popular character because she is such a “strong” girl and good role model.
She said: “Skye is incredibly strong. I think my peers and I are very aware of feminism, it’s a very important topic. I mean, feminism defined is believing in equality in both genders, why isn’t that inherent?”
Sophie is hoping she can go on to emulate the careers of other Disney stars such as Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato who have all gone on to have incredible careers in the music business, on TV and in movies.
She said: “It’s great. If you look at all of those people’s careers individually they’ve all been totally different. They are in the entertainment industry but in different ways.
“I’m just taking it a step at a time, but I guess I hope to do more film work. It’s interesting. It’s all really new at the moment: this opportunity, this platform.”
Sophie Simnett appears in the Winter issue of Wonderland on sale 7 December and can be seen in The Lodge on the Disney Channel.

OHMYGOSSIP — Katie Price and Kieran Hayler took their first holiday without their children to reconnect as a couple while she took a break from ‘Loose Women’.
The 38-year-old beauty announced in October she was going to take some time off from the daytime discussion show so she and Kieran, 29, could resolve some outstanding issues relating to his extra-marital affairs with two of her best friends.
The sexy star realised she hadn’t completely dealt with the former stripper’s betrayal with her best pal Jane Pountney and other women while promoting her new autobiography ‘Reborn’.
Katie made her return to the show on Tuesday (06.12.16) and revealed the pair enjoyed a vacation without their kids, Jett, three, and Bunny, two, and her children, 14-year-old Harvey, Junior, 11, and Princess, nine, from previous relationships, and were able to work through all their problems and reconnect as husband and wife.
She said: “It’s three years now since it happened so with the book, he had to relive it and I had to relive it. I wanted to take some time out to spend time with him and it was not like we had a problem, it was just my head … I was just talking to Kieran a lot and we had our first holiday together without the kids. It was good, but he was still FaceTiming the kids every five minutes. He drove me nuts, we might as well have brought the kids with us! He is obsessed. I am obsessed with them, but I am like can you just put the phone down for five minutes.”
Katie had intended to have therapy to get over Kieran’s cheating but in the end she did not require professional help and was able to talk everything through with her man.
She shared: “At first, I thought, ‘Oh god, do I need to go back to therapy to reassure me?’ But I didn’t. That’s because I had the therapy before. I was talking to him and he was just reassuring me and saying that you remember like last time, you’ve just got to deal with this. I suppose he was my therapist really. Just reassuring me, I am not going to go off, I’m not going to do this. It’s been three years and we’ve done so well … I never forgive, I’ve just learnt to deal with it. I can’t forget.”
And Kieran was giving the seal of approval by Katie’s fellow panellist Janet Street-Porter who recently met him.
Speaking to Janet, Katie asked: “You met him the other night, isn’t he a nice guy? I was like Janet don’t be horrible.”
To which Janet replied: “He is a really nice guy, I was pleasantly surprised … I think he really has your best interests at heart.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Will Smith used his fame to borrow $10 for gas from a fan.
The 48-year-old actor – who is married to Jada Pinkett Smith – is always happy to stop to meet fans when he’s out and about and on one occasion his celebrity status helped him get enough cash to get his car home when it had run out of fuel.
Speaking on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ on Monday (05.12.16), the ‘Suicide Squad’ actor said: “I was driving, and I realised I was on E (empty). I was on E, and I was like, ‘Oh no!’ because I was about 30 minutes from my house. So I pulled into the gas station and I didn’t have my wallet and I was like, ‘Oh tragedy!’ right?
“So I was like, ‘Oh I’ll call Jada’ [Pinkett Smith, his wife] but then she’d have to drive 30 minutes to come so I looked over on the other side and I saw a dude. He was, like, 36, and I was like, ‘That dude is a Fresh Prince fan.’ You can spot them!
“So I kinda rolled the window down and after a couple of minutes, he was like, ‘Will?’ He said, ‘Hey, man, can I get a picture?’ I said, ‘Yeah man, I need about $10.'”
The ‘Men in Black’ star tried to take the kind fan’s details so he could pay him the money back, but the man declined and told him to keep it.
He added: “We took the selfie, he lent me the $10. I was like, ‘Give me your number and I’ll send it back’, and he was like, ‘Dude no way. No way, that’s yours.’ ”
And Will – who has three children Trey, 24, with his former wife Sheree Zampino, and Jaden, 18, and Willow, 16, with Jada – says it’s encounters such as this one that make him glad he’s famous.
He said: “I want people to recognise me. I’ve met a lot of people where fame can be burden, but I just love it man! I really do.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Katie Hopkins has accepted Ellie Goulding’s challenge of a charity boxing match.
The outspoken media personality and the 29-year-old pop star recently became embroiled in a Twitter spat after Katie voiced her support in favour of Italy leaving the European Union, with Ellie calling on the 41-year-old to delete her account.
Earlier, Katie posted in reference to the Italian referendum and German Chancellor Angela Merkel: “ITALEXIT!! Another one falls, welcome back to the lira. Ciao ciao to the E.U. …how’s your day going Miss Merkel? (sic)”
And Katie refused to cave in to Ellie’s demand she delete her account, replying: “Ellie. It is never going to happen. Stop talking now lovely, that pitch sets the dogs off.”
Her remarks prompted the chart-topping singer to suggest they should sort out their differences in a boxing ring.
Alongside a picture of herself holding a rubbish bag, Ellie wrote: “Taking the trash out, suitably apt #ByeKatie #Fancysomesparring (sic)”
A Twitter user then suggested they should fight in aid of charity, and Ellie tweeted: “I’m so, so down. However it wouldn’t make for great tv because it would be over in seconds. (sic)”
But Katie – who underwent brain surgery to relieve her epilepsy earlier this year – insisted she was up for the challenge, tweeting: “Sure @elliegoulding – you are on. I have fought far tougher things this year than some shampoo sales-bird. (sic)”
Again, though, Ellie was determined to have the last word in their spat and she posted a video of herself working on her boxing skills in the gym.
She captioned the video: “@KTHopkins Brain transplant was it? Good work! (sic)”
Last month, Ellie allegedly threatened to punch a guest after she was refused entry into the VIP section at an event in London.
The ‘Love Me Like You Do’ hitmaker is said to have flown into a rage after a fellow Animal Ball attendee stopped her from going into the private area of the bash, because “only VIPs could enter”.
Ellie said: “I’ve never met anyone as mean in my life. If she speaks to me again I will f**king punch her! I swear I’m so mad.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Paloma Faith has given birth.
The ‘Picking Up The Pieces’ singer and her long-term boyfriend Leyman Lahcine have welcomed their first child into the world and the couple are totally “in love” with their new arrival.
Paloma has announced the joyous news by posting a photo of a handwritten letter announcing the birth and also revealing that she endured a “difficult labour” and required an emergency caesarean to deliver her tot.
Captioning the image of her note “God bless the NHS!” Paloma’s letter read: “After a difficult labour resulting in an emergency caesarean I gave birth to my first child with whom I am over the moon, in love and delighted. What a trip! It was all with the help of some incredible doctors, midwives and nurses at UCH NHS Hospital.
“The devotion, kindness and commitment shown by all of them was second to none and I am humbled by the whole experience. I really believe the NHS to be one of the greatest achievements of this country, and it should be respected and protected by all.
“I am humbled by the unfaltering dedication I witnessed and received there. So thank you to the NHS, Melissa Whitten, Georgia Seiti, Wendy Hill, all in the Fetal Assessement Unit and the Maternity Care Units. And god bless the NHS! (sic)”
Former ‘The Voice’ mentor Paloma didn’t reveal the gender of her newborn baby in keeping with her vow to not raise her child in the public eye, which she made when she announced she was pregnant in August.
During her pregnancy, Paloma, 35, didn’t share any updates or any bump photos.

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Munn has praised Jennifer Aniston is “strong and smart”.
The 36-year-old actress stars alongside the former ‘Friends’ star in festive comedy movie ‘Office Christmas Party’, and has nothing but kind words to say about the 47-year-old beauty after working with her.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’ at the New York City premiere of the film on Monday (05.12.16), Olivia said of Jennifer: “I’ve been able to meet a lot of people in this business … and it’s so fascinating how many people are not what you think they would be and Jennifer Aniston is everything that you would ever hope that she would be. She is, no pun intended, the friend you would want her to be. She’s strong and she’s smart, and she is a real champion for the other [actors] in the movie too. Some people only look at their role and she’s really down to help and figure out everybody’s role.”
And the feeling is most definitely mutual between the pair, as Jennifer reciprocated the kind words when asked what she thought of Olivia.
She said: “She’s just a girl’s girl. It’s nice to be around women that support women. I think it’s great and it’s important and it’s a good thing.”
Meanwhile, Olivia recently claimed that the movie – which follows the antics and poor decisions made by a group of white collar workers on a booze-fuelled Christmas party – was nothing like her parties in real like, as she cuts herself off after “two drinks”.
She said: “People are giving themselves the excuse to hook up with the other co-workers, wear the most flashy outfits they have and to drink and debauchery is rampant.
“This movie is every office Christmas party times 100.
“I cut myself off usually around two drinks, just because it’s actually more fun to remember what you did than to get blackout drunk.
“Although in this movie, I don’t think any of the characters remember anything from the next day. This is a blackout drunk movie!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Natalie Portman thinks social media has exposed the public to the perils of fame.
The 35-year-old actress has warned that the advent of social media websites, such as Facebook and Twitter, has meant people who are not famous are now being subjected to more judgment and scrutiny than ever before.
The brunette beauty explained: “I don’t think I see it much personally. Although, obviously, you know that people have ideas about you. But I think even people who aren’t necessarily in the public eye get that now because of social media.
“There could be someone in your college class that you don’t know who looks at you a certain way, and thinks certain things about you, and might write about you, or whatever. And you’re not a famous person – you’re just being talked about or thought about in a certain way by someone you don’t know.
“So you know, it’s something we all have to deal with on different levels.”
Despite being conscious of the scrutiny and interest that surrounds her, Natalie tries not to fret.
Natalie shared with DuJour magazine: “I mainly try to not think about it. Like, I don’t look at it; I don’t seek it out in any way because I don’t find it helpful in any way.”
The Oscar-winning actress – who stars as Jackie Kennedy, the wife of US President John F. Kennedy, in her new movie ‘Jackie’ – said there is a distinction between her public face and her real-life self.
She said: “Fame does create a splitting of the self, I suppose. Because you’re, like, aware that this is the part of me that’s public, and this is the part of me that’s private, and so you’re kind of dividing the two.
“Jackie obviously had that on a much larger scale, but it was definitely something that I could see in her and empathise with – that there is an idea of how other people see you, an idea of who you really are, who you want other people to think you are. And there is how you think you’re supposed to be. There are all these different layers of self.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Katie Price has had her lips tattooed.
The 38-year-old former glamour model is no stranger to having cosmetic surgery having previously undergone multiple breast augmentations, rhinoplasty and liposuction but now the blonde beauty has turned her attention to her lips as she stepped out in Milton Keynes on Monday (05.12.16) with a brand new pout.
The Sun newspaper reports that the ‘Loose Women’ star was spotted leaving the dermaspa where she had the procedure done, and according to the publication Katie also had her eyebrows tattooed in the same session.
Katie’s tattooed lip liner treatment can last for up to three years before she needs to go under the needle again, but until then she can enjoy her permanently lined pout.
The news comes as Katie – who has five children, 14-year-old Harvey from a relationship with Dwight Yorke, Junior, 11, and Princess, nine, from her marriage to Peter Andre, and Jett, three, and Bunny, two, with her spouse Kieran Hayler – has recently been undergoing non-surgical procedures to lift her butt, and has posted the results on social media.
In a video which detailed her first round of treatment with the Lipo Perm Pro – which helps tighten skin and remove fat – Katie said: “Here I am on a Sunday with Shane Cooper having a bum lift with the lipo perm pro. Woah, look at that a**e. Wahoo.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Dolly Parton is set to host a telethon to raise money for those affected by the Tennessee fires.
The 70-year-old country legend has been busy raising money for the families whose houses were burnt down during the wildfires that ravaged the Great Smoky Mountains last week through her charity fund My People – which was set up as part of her Dollywood Foundation – and now the ‘9 to 5’ hitmaker is planning on hosting a three-hour telethon in order to encourage further donations.
Whilst many of the details have not been thought out yet, it has been reported that the telethon will take place in Nashville on December 13, and all proceeds will go to the My People fund.
Dollywood director of communications Pete Owens said in a statement: “It’s really a work in progress.
“We’ve made the announcement, so we’re working through the logistics now and determining the partners that are going to work on it.”
The news comes as the My People fund has managed to raise $1 million since it launched on Wednesday (30.11.16), with the goal to provide $1000 a month to families affected by the devastating blaze.
Dolly – whose Dollywood Theme Park had to be evacuated after the blazes ripped through Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge early last week – said: “As you may know by now, there have been terrible wildfires in the Great Smoky Mountains, the same mountains where I grew up and where my people call home.
“I have always believed that charity begins at home. That’s why I’ve asked my Dollywood Companies – Including the Dollywood Theme Park, and DreamMore Resort; My dinner theater attractions including Dixie Stampede and Lumberjack Adventure; and my Dollywood Foundation to help me establish the My People Fund.”
The Dollywood Foundation website still accepting donations to the cause on the foundation’s website.
The site reads: “We want to provide a hand up to those families who have lost everything in the fires. To aid in their recovery effort, the Dollywood Foundation will provide $1,000 a month to all of those families who lost their homes in the fires for six months so that they can get back on their feet.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Natasha Hamilton insists her relationship with her new fiance is “different” to any other she’s had. The Atomic Kitten singer – who has sons Josh, 14, Harry, 11, and Alfie, six, as well as two-year-old daughter Ella from four different relationships – revealed last week she had got engaged for the third time after Charles Day popped the question eight months into their relationship, and she believes this romance is her best yet.

Natasha – who has only been married once, to Riad Erraji – said: “I’ve loved every man I’ve been in a serious relationship with but everything is different with Charlie. “That’s why we’re engaged. We have such a special bond. We have a very mature relationship – there are no silly squabbles or bickering.”

And the 34-year-old beauty insists there is nothing “weird” about her personal life and she won’t let other people’s opinions stop her from being happy. She said: “People say I’m always falling in love but I’ve never been the type of person to be in a relationship with someone I’m not in love with. I don’t think it’s weird to have loved more than one man. I know it’s quick, but what Charlie and I have is very special. Charlie is a great man, who loves me and is great with my children. Charles proposed to Natasha during a break in New York and she had no idea what was going to happen when he took her for drinks at the Empire Hotel. She told Britain’s OK! magazine: “My jaw dropped and I started crying like a baby, I was so happy. “We had spoken about wanting to get married at some point in the future, but I had no idea he was going to propose. About an hour before he proposed, he kept giggling to himself. At the time I couldn’t work out why but now I know it is because he was nervous.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Khloe Kardashian paid tribute to the “light of her family” Saint West as he turned one on Monday (05.12.16).
The ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ star wrote a sweet message for the 12-month-old – who is the youngest child of Kim Kardashian West and her husband Kanye West – as he celebrated his first birthday.
She wrote: “Can’t believe how quickly time flies! Watching my little Saint grow this past year has been amazing. He’s seriously such an angel and could not be more adorable. What a light he’s been for our family!”
Whilst Kim and Khloe’s half sister Kendall Jenner added: “Saint, I can’t believe it’s been a year since you came into our lives! You’re the sweetest addition to the fam. (sic)”
Kanye and Kim have had a tough time of it lately after she was robbed at gunpoint in October and the ‘Bound 2’ rapper was hospitalised in November for exhaustion and sleep deprivation.
However, Ryan Seacrest believes things are “going better now” for the couple, who also have three-year-old daughter North together.
He explained: “I’ve spoken to Kim. I’ve not spoken to Kanye, but I think that things are going better now.”
Meanwhile, it was previously claimed that Kanye is living away from the family home as he continues to receive treatment out of the hospital.
A source shared: “He is receiving outpatient care else with a medical team. Kim still seems concerned but is supportive. They don’t know for how long Kanye will need outpatient care … There are frustrations and problems, like any relationship, but they love each other deeply …
“People in Kanye’s inner circle are hoping the hospital stay has made him realise that he needs to take a step back from work and focus on his personal health and mindset. Kanye loves working, but he loves Kim and his family more.
“He had way too much on his plate and it came to a point where he couldn’t handle it all, so he just broke. He needs to find a good balance with the two in his life and he’ll work hard at finding that.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sofia Richie thinks social media is “crazy”.
The 18-year-old model recently signed up to Twitter and has already received nasty comments from other users.
She told the new issue of Complex magazine: “This s**t is crazy! I was laughing about my life, like, oh my god, people are so psychotic. Some girl I don’t even know commented on my picture a week ago, ‘You should go kill yourself.’ I just had to say something. I commented back, ‘I just want to understand the sadness in your heart.’
“A lot of people say they know me and my life, but no one really does. Except for, like, my family and Bronte. It’s frustrating. My whole thing is I’m trying to spread love to everyone. Some people don’t see that, but I really am trying to spread positivity to people.”
The blonde beauty – who is the daughter of Lionel Richie – took to Twitter in late November to announce her arrival.
She wrote: “Just a bit late to the twitter game (sic).”
And sharing a photo of her first tweet on Instagram, she captioned the picture: “Just a bit late but hi twitter (sic).”
And Sofia only knows too well about how to deal with online critics after her ex Justin Bieber shut down his Instagram account when fans sent him nasty messages about his then-girlfriend Sofia.
He said at the time: “I’m gonna make my Instagram private if you guys don’t stop the hate this is getting out of hand, if you guys are really fans you wouldn’t be so mean to people that I like. (sic)”
The comment started a public spat with Justin’s ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez, who fired back: “If you can’t handle the hate then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol – it should be special between you two only. Don’t be mad at your fans. They love you (sic).”
