OHMYGOSSIP — Pamela Anderson has begged President Barack Obama to consider “pardoning” Julian Assange after his website WikiLeaks leaked hacked Democratic emails in the run up to US Presidential election last year.
The 49-year-old actress has penned a letter to the politician – who will step down as the American leader later this week – in a bid to stop the investigation into the hacking scandal that revealed Russia had allegedly tampered with the results of the election by tapping into email accounts and sharing them with the website.
She wrote on her website: “I must request with urgency, humility, and as a lover of all beings – as I advocate for many important issues around the world – I see human rights are being violated in demeaning political ways that are not helpful to anyone … I’m asking you to remember the beginning of your political career.
“When you had a dream, an idea, a cause worth the fight. When you had obstacles and fairness was not always in your favor. I request that you consider Pardoning Julian Assange in your last days in office. It would be a bold and exciting move for the time we live in- the information age generation. Please stop the grand jury investigation, and the bullying that is turning the world off America.
“We must stop making Julian (or Russia) the scapegoat – Kids are smarter than this, and it is very divisive and tearing generations apart. It simply must end – and is doable by the stroke of your pen. (sic)”
The former ‘Baywatch’ star went on to state that she accepts if President Obama made the decision to call off the investigation it would cause uproar but thinks it’s vital for the world going forward.
She said: “It may not be popular at first – but nothing worth anything is. There will be a dawning and utter gratitude – as people wake up. I understand Julian has been painted a bad guy – but he is not. He is a genius worth protection. the contents of the what he has published through Wikileaks are pure and uncensored. They are just the truth – the distraction tactics are see through – it creates mistrust … Julian and Wikileaks are essential – especially in this political climate. We need truth tellers more than ever (sic)”
The blonde bombshell then attempted to guilt trip the president by making him think about the promises he made when he first entered the office eight years ago and what made people vote for him in the election.
She said: “You can go back to the fresh days of your beginnings and leave your signature mark of hope.”
Pamela concluded by asking Obama to think about Julian – who is currently living under political asylum in the Ecuadorian embassy in London after he was accused of rape during his 2010 visit to Sweden – and his children, who live in his native Australia, because he’s trying to “protect” people from corruption.
She added: “And for Julian to be able to travel freely. See his children and his mother. He is protecting and informing us all. He has no agenda but to help end corruption of governments and empower people.”
President Barack Obama called for an investigation into the hacking scandal after it was claimed the leak benefited President-elect Donald Trump, by making his competitor Hilary Clinton and her aides look back in the emails that were shared and later published on WikiLeaks.
Pamela has been a close friend of Julian for quite some time now and is regularly seen visiting him with some homemade vegan snacks when she’s in the UK capital.

OHMYGOSSIP — Lena Dunham felt “very lonely” on the set of ‘Girls’.
The 30-year-old actress was torn between wanting to fit in with her co-stars and feeling an added sense of responsibility as the creator of the show.
She said: “Sometimes I would get very lonely, because I wanted to be a part of the group, but there was also the element of, like, having to boss people around. And we would be doing all this as a team, [but] if we got criticism, I felt like it would all come down on me in this s**t-storm torrent.
“Even though I was surrounded by love, there were times where I felt very ‘by myself’ in the process.”
And Lena admits she “injured” herself in some ways as she was determined to push herself as hard as possible to prove she was worthy of TV executives taking a chance on her with the show.
In a joint interview with her castmates, she told America’s Glamour magazine: “Making my deal with HBO as a 23-year-old woman, I felt that I had so much to prove.
“I felt like I had to be the person who answered emails the fastest, stayed up the latest, worked the hardest. As much as I loved my job, I really, like, injured myself in some ways.”
But Lena has learned from her mistakes and won’t be so hard on herself with her next project.
She added: “If I had felt like, ‘You’re worthy of eight hours of sleep, not four; you’re worthy of turning your phone off on a Saturday,’ I don’t think it would have changed the outcome of the show.
“I could have worked with a sense of joy and excitement, rather than guilt and anxiety of being ‘found out.’ The advice I would give any woman going into a job if she has a sense of impostor syndrome would be: There will be nothing if you don’t look out for you.
“And I can’t wait, on my next project, to go into it with the strength that comes from, like, valuing your own body and your own mental health.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeremy Renner is considering launching a career as a songwriter so he can spend more time with his family.
The 45-year-old actor is desperate to see more of his three-year-old daughter, Ava – whom he has with his ex-wife Sonni Pacheco – and has already been making some pop tunes in his home-built studio after getting inspired by the late Amy Winehouse, British songstress Adele and ‘Uptown Funk’ hitmaker Bruno Mars.
Asked what his New Year’s resolutions are, he said: “To spend more time with my child.
Talking about his music aspirations, he added: “I’ve been doing music for years but I haven’t released anything yet. That was my ambition before I became an actor.
“I’ve started recording more seriously recently and I might put it online.
“I’ve been inspired by people like Adele, Amy Winehouse, Sia and Kings of Leon, Bruno Mars – I like his pop sensibilities.”
And Jeremy admitted that, as he is considering scaling back his filming commitments to be at home more, focusing on music is the ideal solution to “scratch that creative itch” while being with his little girl.
He told Metro newspaper: “I was thinking how do I scratch that creative itch as an artist but also stay with my child? I have a studio at home so I can write and record.
“I posted a picture on Instagram of my big piano and a baby piano next to it – and that’s my approach to it.
“I can write songs, maybe I don’t even have to perform them, maybe I can give them to someone else, but it lets me spend time with my child.”
The ‘Bourne Legacy’ star knows any changes he is planning have to take place soon as he doesn’t want to uproot Ava too much once she starts school.
He said: “I love working but I’m trying to be more selective about where I shoot.
“Once [Ava] starts school, I don’t want to start dragging her around the planet.
“The last 20 films I didn’t shoot in America. I love London but it’s too far for my little lady to travel.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Mel B is back in touch with her estranged mother.
The Spice Girls star – who has five-year-old daughter Madison with her husband Stephen Belafonte, and 17-year-old Phoenix and nine-year-old Angel from past relationships – fell out with Andrea Brown several years ago, supposedly over her family’s unhappiness at her relationship with the producer, but it seems they have finally managed to put their differences aside and spent some quality time together in London while Mel filmed the new series of ‘Lip Sync Battle UK’.
Asked how she got on meeting her again, Mel told the latest issue of new! magazine: “Yes, she came down yesterday, saw the kids and watched the show.
“Then we hung out and went for dinner with the kids.”
And while she didn’t want to talk further about her family, Mel – who resides in Los Angeles – also confirmed she is back in contact with her sister Danielle too.
Asked if they have reconnected, she said: “Yes. Family is family. There’s no point talking about that.”
Andrea previously made a number of attempts to get back in touch with Mel, but they seemed to fall on deaf ears until now.
When the ‘Mama’ singer turned 40 in 2015, Andrea shared a number of old photos on Twitter as she tried to reach out to her famous daughter.
Alongside a photograph of a teenage Mel doing the splits in a pair of tiny denim hotpants, Andrea wrote: “@officialmelB 40 today hope ur birthday is as special as u r 2 me luv and miss u FOREVER X. (sic)”
And she also posted a picture of herself applying makeup on a young Mel alongside the caption: “Today I have a 40 old child loved and missed so badly!! Official 1st makeup artist ME!! (sic)”
Mel’s younger sister Danielle joined her mother in attempting to put their differences aside.
After retweeting Andrea’s message, she wrote: “Happy 40th Birthday to my one and only big sis @OfficialMelB (sic)”
Andrea and Danielle were said to have fallen out with Mel when she tied the knot with Stephen, who was previously found guilty of assaulting his ex-wife, in 2007.
Speaking following the birth of Madison in 2011, Andrea claimed she only knew her daughter had been pregnant because she read about it on the Internet.
She said at the time: “I only found out she was pregnant because of Twitter and I found out on Twitter that she’d had the baby too.”
Andrea’s also made an attempt to reach out to her daughter in late 2014 when Mel was hospitalised during the final of ‘The X Factor UK’ and later appeared on the show with bruises.

OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Helen Mirren’s life has been riddled with an “endless litany of mistakes.”
The 71-year-old actress – who has an impressive career in film and stage under her belt – feels proud of the errors and slip ups she’s made throughout her life because it’s allowed her to become the person, both professionally and privately, she is now.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph newspaper, she said: “I’ve made many, many, mistakes in my life, you know. I turned down projects I should have said yes to, done projects I should have said no to, had relationships with people I shouldn’t have had relationships with, got drunk at times that I shouldn’t have got drunk.
“There’s been an endless litany of mistakes and missteps but somehow I’ve stumbled into being in the right place at the right time.”
However, one person she doesn’t regret meeting is her husband Taylor Hackford.
She explained: “I very consciously chose my work over my relationships right up to the time that I met Taylor. I was 38 when I met him, pretty late in life. The great thing about finding a partnership later on in life is that you recognise the partnership level of this relationships as much as the love and the lust and all the rest of it.”
Their busy careers mean that the couple hardly get to see each other, but they recently got to spend a few months together because they were both shooting their movies – Helen filming ‘Collateral Beauty’ and Taylor directing ‘The Comedian’ – in New York City.
She said: “It was the first time in our professional lives together that we’ve actually been in the same city at the same time, but working on different projects. So it was great to do what most people get to do, which is come home and say, ‘Hello darling, how was your day?’ That was so rare for us that it was a great experience.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Marsh has accused her estranged husband of continuing to delay their divorce.
The 38-year-old model and documentary maker has taken to Twitter to share her annoyance with James Placido – who she married in August 2015 and split from in April 2016 – who she claims has not properly filled out the final divorce papers with the correct detail.
She wrote in a series of tweets: “I know it’s getting boring now but a note to ‘husbands no longer required’: You have to fill out the divorce papers correctly & sign them … you can’t just fill out the first draft half-heartedly without any detail. You need to sign the full and final papers with all detail … Jesus it’s almost like some people don’t want to get divorced and are loving all the attention….?????? (sic)”
Jodie then claimed she can empathise with James for not wanting to let her go for good because she knows she is “quite a catch”.
The sexy star insists she is every man’s dream because she can ride Harley Davidson motorbikes, cooks, cleans and has “massive” breasts.

OHMYGOSSIP — Khloe Kardashian believes exercise is a “form of therapy”.
The 32-year-old star’s new TV show, ‘Revenge Body’, premieres next week and the blonde beauty insists the programme is about more than just altering the physical appearance of the participants, as it will help strengthen their emotional “armour” too.
She said: “It’s not just physically, this is a show that really focuses from the inside out.
“That’s like my book and my journey is all about mind, body and soul. But I do believe working out is a form of therapy, I think it builds you an emotional set of armour as well.”
The ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ star insists there is nothing “harmful or malicious” about the show’s title, but she just wants to help people overcome traumatic times in their life and get their “revenge” by getting back to their best.
She explained in an interview with E! News: “‘Revenge Body’ is basically a show about taking people that not so much are seeking revenge in a harmful, malicious way, but revenge in the best way possible, which is a good body.
“So people that have gone through really traumatic experiences in life, not all of them are breakups, some of them have lost a parent or something that’s been really traumatic which has caused them to gain a lot of weight and they don’t really know how to get control over their life again. So whatever that circumstance is I want them to get revenge on that incident.”
Khloe – who is dating Tristan Thompson – recently advised people to set “small goals” in order to move forward.
She shared: “I like to make goals in life, but I make sure that the goals aren’t too crazy because if you ever fall off the horse, you will beat yourself up. OHMYGOSSIP — Teresa Palmer has fled her home following a “crazy storm”.
The 30-year-old actress – who has two sons, three-year-old Bodhi, and three-week-old Forest, with her husband Mark Webber and is stepmother to his son Isaac, eight – has moved into a hotel after extreme weather conditions in Adelaide, Australia, caused a power cut and damage to her home.
She revealed on her blog: “We lost our power for four days at our home this week from a crazy storm that also damaged a building on our property.
“We had just bought a bunch of groceries too and sadly had to throw all of our produce out.”
However, the family decided to make the best of the “scary and dangerous situation” and turned their break from their home into a “slumber party” and “miniature family holiday”.
Teresa added on her blog: “What could have been a scary and dangerous situation ended up being a miniature family holiday.
“It did mean we got to have hotel slumber parties with the kids and my mum.
“We ordered room service and watched shows and shopped at Rundle Mall everyday, it was like a little staycation.”
But the storm isn’t the only thing to have caused problems for the family, as Forest is struggling to settle, prompting his mother to consider changing her diet as she is worried something she has been eating is affecting the little boy when he nurses.
She said: “He has been having really bad gas at 4am every night! He is very uncomfortable and grizzles and grunts trying to do a poo…I’ve been looking in to things I may be eating that are upsetting him.”
Teresa previously revealed prior to giving birth she has been craving the scent of an air detox spray – which claims to disinfect and purify the air – and ordered 10 bottles of the product because she loves to cover her pillows in the smell.
Speaking previously, the Australian star said: “This is a weird one because it has nothing to do with food! I’ve been obsessed with smelling Dr Shulze’s Air Detox spray!
“I literally have ordered a full box of the spray (10 bottles!). I like to spray all of my pillows with it before bed and just engulf myself in the scent as I fall asleep. It’s a mixture of eucalyptus, lime and lemon! Mark thinks it’s hilarious and I had the exact same obsession with the same smell first pregnancy! I’m convinced it’ll help me throughout labour (sic).”

The 26-year-old rapper claimed he had infuriated the ‘Loyal’ hitmaker after he liked an Instagram post made by the 28-year-old model – whose on/off relationship with chris ended over a year ago – but vowed to come out on top.

OHMYGOSSIP — Ruby Bose never wants to repeat her experiences.
The 30-year-old actress has previously found success as a TV and radio presenter and fashion designer, as well as undertaking modelling work, and though she has done well in other areas, her first love has always been acting.
She said: “I never want to repeat the same year. In fact, I never want to repeat the same day twice.
“People always call me a model but I don’t think I was successful as a model, not like girls like Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid are.
“I was a television personality, a radio host and a fashion designer.
“I did a lot of things, most of them in front of the camera, but I couldn’t seem to break into acting. I decided that the clever thing would be to just focus on what I really wanted to do, which was act.
“I got to America and everybody wanted me to be a presenter or work in reality television or be a DJ, things that were the low-hanging fruit with the agents I talked to.
“I went to school for acting but everyone passed. Then I did ‘Break Free’ and everything changed.”
But that doesn’t mean acting is Ruby’s only passion because the ‘xXx: The Return of Xander Cage’ actress has also turned her attentions to writing and producing.
She told #Legend magazine: “I have two books that I have options on and which I would love to get made. One is quite dark, so I’m not sure what will happen with that.
“I’m always writing and thinking of new ideas. There are a lot of projects I love and want to do, some people I really want to work with, and I’m happy to pour as much energy as I can into writing and producing.”
When she isn’t working, the Australian star – who is dating The Veronicas singer Jess Origliasso – prefers a quiet life.

OHMYGOSSIP — Eva Amurri Martino has thanked her fans for their “words of comfort” after she revealed she was suffering from depression after her night nurse dropped her three-month-old son on his head.
The 31-year-old actress opened up about her battle earlier this week, after her son Major – whom she has with husband Kyle Martino – was left with a fractured skull and bleeding in his brain when he was he was dropped onto the hardwood flooring of their house, and has now taken to Instagram to share her gratitude at those who have reached out to help since she made the post.
Next to a picture of her holding her son, Eva wrote: “Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has reached out with words of comfort or to share their own stories the past 24 hours. It is so moving to know there are so many of you who are wishing our sweet boy well, and who are rooting us on as a family.
I’d like to say one thing, which is that Parenthood is not a competition. Nobody gets an award at the end of all of it for doing it the best or most perfect way. All that matters is how we make our children feel, how we feel about them, and how we feel about ourselves as parents.(sic)”
However, the ‘That’s My Boy’ actress – who also has two-year-old Marlowe with her soccer player husband – admitted she had also been subject to criticism following her revelation, and hit out at those who had “expressed judgement” toward her.
She continued: “To those who have expressed judgement, cruelty, and criticism of me, my choices, or my fragility during this time- I’m not going to justify myself to you. But I sincerely wish that 2017 brings you enough self love and confidence that you no longer feel the need to tear down another person during their darkest moment. Peace, please. Xx EAM (sic)”
Eva – who is the daughter of Hollywood actress Susan Sarandon – posted on her blog on Sunday (01.01.17) about the traumatic event which took place at the end of November, saying the “guilt” she felt after the accident was “damaging”.
Part of her lengthy blog post read: “Well, let me tell you – the guilt I bore in the days and weeks after this accident was more intense and more damaging than anything I would wish upon my worst enemy. I had all those same thoughts and more. I wept in the hospital, telling anyone who would listen that it should have been me. That I was to blame.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Vin Diesel found it “therapeutic and necessary” working on ‘xXx: The Return of Xander Cage’.
The 49-year-old actor was unsure his extensive commitment to playing Dominic Toretto in the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise would allow him the time to return to another of his favourite characters, but he felt a “need” to take a break from the “intense” filming of the series following the shock death of his friend and co-star Paul Walker, who passed away after a car accident in 2013 while filming was still ongoing for ‘Furious 7’.
He said: “Universal had announced we were doing Fast eight, nine and 10, and the preparations for those movies, let alone the filming of them, was time consuming.
“I was close to not being able to find a window to do Triple X but there was a greater need for me to do it because I had come off the very intense experience of shooting ‘Furious 7’ and all that entailed, including the loss of a brother.
“Because that was so intense, I had to choose Triple X. I had to shoot that, literally, so I could smile and laugh again because the character I’d been playing was so brooding and had forced me to go to such a dark place, doing it without someone that I loved.
“I already knew it was going to be an arduous road and I wanted to deliver something special in the name of my brother. I also wanted to do a film where I needed to not carry the weight and drama of the whole piece on my shoulders…
“Working on ‘xXx: Return of Xander Cage’ was extremely therapeutic and necessary.”
And Vin admitted playing the spy again allowed him to have fun on screen in a way he hasn’t in years.
He added in an interview with #Legend magazine: “I don’t think I’ve played a character since ‘The Pacifier’ where I was able to literally laugh on the screen and smile in a character.
“We think about the ‘fun popcorn movie’ and we all know what that term means, yet we’re not able to really see a lot of them. A lot of superhero movies have taken a dark spin.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Carrie Fisher’s family are keen to track down two passengers who came to the aid of the actress when she suffered a heart attack on a plane.
The ‘Star Wars’ actress was rushed to UCLA Medical Centre on December 23 after she stopped breathing on a flight from London to Los Angeles but passed away four days later, and her loved ones reportedly think they wouldn’t have had the chance to say goodbye to the 60-year-old star if it hadn’t been for the efforts of the off-duty emergency workers.
Family sources told TMZ that flight attendants had asked for medical professionals to come forward to aid Carrie, and the two volunteers who did “worked like crazy” to keep the actress alive, even though they couldn’t find a pulse for over 10 minutes.
Carrie’s family are planning to contact United airlines to see if they can help locate the passengers, one of whom was a nurse, in order to thank them for their efforts.
A private funeral for the ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ star is expected to take place on Thursday (05.01.17).
However, Carrie’s adoring fans around the world won’t be left out as they may also get to celebrate the star’s life as a public service will reportedly take place later on down the line, a source close to the family have told ‘Entertainment Tonight’.
It’s thought Carrie’s mother Debbie Reynolds – who died a day after the star on December 28 – will also be laid to rest at the same time as the family want them to be buried next to each other at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Tom Jones says his late wife “would like” the fact he has returned to ‘The Voice UK’.
The 76-year-old singer had been a judge on the singing competition since 2012 before he was axed in 2015, and thinks his late wife Linda – who passed away in April last year after suffering with cancer – would be pleased he is on board to return to the show when it airs this weekend.
He told the Radio Times magazine: “When my wife heard I wasn’t doing it, she said, ‘So, you don’t want to do The Voice any more?’
“I said, ‘It’s not my decision’. She said, ‘You must be joking!’ God bless her, she passed away before I was asked to come back. She would like the fact that I’m doing the show now.”
Previously, the ‘What’s New Pussycat?’ hitmaker admitted he wasn’t sure if he would ever be able to sing again after the passing of his wife – who was simply known as Linda – but said he was glad he decided to pick up the microphone.
He said: “She passed away from lung cancer and it was very quick. By the time they found it, she only had less than two weeks. So that hit me hard, and it still has. I didn’t know whether I would be able to sing after that. But now I realise that singing is saving my life, once I started again.”
The ‘It’s Not Unusual’ singer also struggled to perform his cover of Lonnie Johnson’s ‘Tomorrow Night’, as it was one of Linda’s favourites. However, the star said he pictures his childhood sweetheart – whom he was married to for 59 years – whenever he sings it, and now he says it is a “joy” to perform.
He said: “It means more to me now than when I actually recorded it, since she’s passed away, because of how much she thought of it, because of how much she loved it. And the words in it are very meaningful. But to do it is a joy to me now. Because I’m seeing her. I’m remembering her when I sing it.”
‘The Voice UK’ starts on Saturday (07.01.17) on its new home on UK TV station ITV.

OHMYGOSSIP — Carrie Fisher’s funeral will be held on Thursday (05.01.17).
The ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ actress- who passed away over the festive period following a heart attack at the age of 60 – will be laid to rest this week in an intimate ceremony so that her close friends and family can say goodbye in private.
However, Carrie’s adoring fans around the world won’t be left out as they may also get to celebrate the star’s life as a public service will reportedly take place later on down the line, a source close to the family have told ‘Entertainment Tonight’.
It’s thought Carrie’s mother Debbie Reynolds – who died a day after the star on December 28 – will also be laid to rest at the same time as the family want them to be buried next to each other at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.
Following the sudden death of Carrie on December 27 – days after she stopped breathing on a flight from London to Los Angeles – her half-sister Joely Fisher has penned a heartfelt tribute to her deceased sibling as she recalled their childhood.
Writing in a column for The Hollywood Reporter, Joely – who is the daughter of singer Eddie Fisher and actress Connie Stevens – wrote: “We spent the better part of our childhoods as neighbours, our two families right next door. I adored Mama Debbie — she was such a character. And I got another sister and a brother in the deal, right there on the beach! During our transcontinental chat before Carrie’s fateful flight from London to LA, we promised we’d spend Christmas together.
“It’s a promise we kept, although not in a way either of us had anticipated. Throughout the holiday, I sat by her side in a hospital room filled with a cacophony of sounds made by the machines keeping her barely alive.
“Debbie, of course, was there as well. She told me that she’d been praying for my time. More time for Carrie, for herself and for Connie. I knew if those prayers weren’t answered, Debbie might very well join her daughter.”
Joely then went on to say she will stand by Carrie’s 24-year-old daughter Billie Lourd and help her grieve for her beloved mother and grandmother.
She explained: “She would have wanted us to celebrate her life, her words and for Billie to be whole. In time she will be. She is smart and soulful and magic. My sister Tricia Leigh and I vow to be whatever our niece Billie needs us to be.”
Joely then concluded by hinting that she’s planning to write a book on Carrie in due course because she has so many wonderful memories she wants to share with fans.
She said: “You can’t ‘right’ this s**t, but you can ‘write’ it. And do I have a hell of a book in me.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Gosling paid tribute to the late Debbie Reynolds at the Palm Springs International Film Festival awards gala on Monday (02.01.17).
The 36-year-old actor’s musical ‘La La Land’ was honoured with the Vanguard Award at the annual ceremony and as he picked up the prize alongside director Damien Chazelle and composer Justin Hurwitz, he thanked the late actress – who died on December 28 aged 84, just a day after her daughter Carrie Fisher passed away – for inspiring his work on the movie with her performance in iconic film ‘Singing in the Rain’.
Ryan – whose co-star Emma Stone missed the event because she had strep throat – said: “I wish I could have said this in person but I’d like to thank Debbie Reynolds for her wonderful career of work.
“She was an inspiration to us every day. We watched ‘Singing in the Rain’ every day for inspiration, a truly unparalleled talent so thank you to her for all that inspiration.”
Meanwhile, ‘Lion’ actress Nicole Kidman – who has kids Isabella, 24, and Conor, 21, with ex-husband Tom Cruise and daughters Sunday, eight, and Faith, six, with spouse Keith Urban – reminisced about her first time at the ceremony 12 years ago with her late father Antony Kidman as she picked up the International Star prize.
She recalled: “I was newly single and he came with me as my date…and he held my hand as we walked up the red carpet and I still have photos of that so this is really an emotional evening for me.
“And even though he’s not here now a lot of great things have happened in my life in the last 12 years. I met the love of my life and I got married to him and I grew my family with him.”
Natalie Portman was elated to accept the Desert Palm Achievement Award from Tom Hanks.
She joked: “I think I can retire now after getting Tom Hanks to say such nice things about me.”
And Andrew Garfield also used his Spotlight Award acceptance speech to thank the ‘Sully’ actor – who was recognised with the Icon Award – for inspiring his own career.
He said: “You are directly responsible for me being here and to be standing beside you is a humbling honour to say the least.”
