Justin Timberlake 'really humbled' by Oscar nomination

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Timberlake is “really humbled” by his Oscar nomination.
The 35-year-old singer has received his first ever Oscar nomination for Best Song for his original track ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling’, which featured in the animated comedy ‘Trolls’, and has had to keep “pinching” himself to make sure he’s not dreaming.
He said: “I’m really humbled by the whole thing. I think most of all; I was excited the whole year that people responded to the song.
“Now more than ever we need something that puts a kick in someone’s step and unites us through a good feeling. I think that is what I was always most happy about that it gives people a good feeling.
“For the Academy to recognise this song? Wow. Yeah, I’m pinching myself.”
And Justin – who wrote the track along with songwriters Max Martin and Johan Schuster – said it was his wife Jessica Biel who broke the good news to him as he was “recovering” from a late night at the studio when the nominations were announced.
He added to Deadline.com: “I was recovering from a late night at the studio so when I woke up there was a whirlwind of emails and texts, but my wife broke the news to me which was even sweeter.
“We were just giddy this morning, and I’m still like in a tornado. I’m just really honoured and grateful they recognised the song. I’ve honestly been walking around today thinking, ‘Did that happen?’ Obviously it was a great year for Max and Johan and myself with the success of the song. I’m having a pinch-yourself moment.”

Tammin Sursok: Bullies taught me 'self-love'

OHMYGOSSIP — Tammin Sursok’s childhood bullies helped her learn “how to self-love”.
The 33-year-old actress – who was bullied for being overweight as a child – believe the difficulties she has faced in life have pushed her to learn “persistence and resilience” and hopes that her three-year-old daughter Phoenix, whom she shares with her film producer husband Sean McEwen, will be able to “exhibit these traits” when she gets older.
Asked what she had learnt from her experiences with bullies, Tammin said: “I learned how to have tough skin. I learned how to rise above adversity. I learned how to value and respect myself. Even though it took me a long time, I learned how to self-love. Even though on the outside our lives might look easy, I’ve definitely been through a lot of tumultuous experiences from school and during my career.
“My whole life, especially my career, has been one big rejection, so I’ve had to really learn persistence and resilience and fortitude. Phoenix is already exhibiting these traits and I think if she just watches how we navigate our lives she will be stronger because of it.”
And the ‘Pretty Little Liars’ actress would love to be able to tell her younger self to “stop worrying”.
She added: “I would tell my younger self to stop with all the control issues. I think we all think that we can drive our own destiny, and as much as we can to a certain extent, sometimes you just aren’t in control.
“I spent a lot of my younger life worrying about the future and the past. Worrying is like being a rocking chair, moving but not going anywhere.”
Meanwhile, Tammin believes success is defined by freedom and health.
Asked by TheGraceTales.com what success means to her, the brunette beauty said: “To be happy. To have enough so that we have freedom. And to be healthy.”

Boy George: My 'big sorrow' was not meeting Michael Jackson

OHMYGOSSIP — Boy George says one of his “big sorrows” was not meeting Michael Jackson.
The 55-year-old singer has opened up about the time he met Paris Jackson – the daughter of the late King of Pop – during Paris Fashion Week but admits he regrets not having the chance to meet the iconic musician himself before his untimely death in 2009.
Speaking to Andy Cohen on ‘Watch What Happens Live’ on Tuesday (24.01.17), he said: “I told her that she was very beautiful and I told her that her dad was amazing, said that I never met him.
“It was one of my big sorrows that I never got to meet him. She was lovely, she’s such a lovely girl.”
The news comes after Paris recently opened up about life with her father, insisting her upbringing was “normal” and recalled how strict the ‘Thriller’ musician was with their schooling and never allowed any bad behaviour.
She said: “We actually had a pretty normal life. Like, we had school every single day, and we had to be good. And if we were good, every other weekend or so, we could choose whether we were gonna go to the movie theatre or see the animals or whatever. But if you were on bad behaviour, then you wouldn’t get to go do all those things.”
Meanwhile Michael Jackson’s nephew TJ Jackson – who is the legal guardian of Paris as well as her brothers Prince, 19, and Blanket, 14 – previously praised the ‘Bad’ singer for instilling “core ethics and values” in his children.
He said: “I don’t think there’s anything I had to teach them because my uncle taught them everything they need to know.
“All the important things – their core ethics and values are so strong, and there’s moments where I just hear my uncle’s voice come out of them because [of] their love for people and their innocence.”

Tom Hanks and Amy Adams accidentally listed for Oscar

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Hanks and Amy Adams were accidentally among the nominees listed on the official Academy Awards website.
The 60-year-old actor and the 42-year-old actress were erroneously included in the Best Actor and Best Actress categories – for ‘Sully’ and ‘Arrival’ respectively – on the Oscars online outlet shortly after the nominations were announced on Tuesday (24.01.17).
ABC Digital has since recognised their error and apologised, as well as correcting their mistake.
Speaking in a statement about their blunder, they said: “This morning, in an attempt to release breaking news as announced, ABC Digital briefly posted inaccurate nomination information on the Oscar.com website.”
However, they have also defended their actions and admitted although the website was incorrect their social media posts were all “accurate”.
They explained: “The nominees announced by the Academy on Twitter were accurate. ABC quickly identified and corrected the errors. We apologise to the Academy, press and fans for any confusion.”
However, the flame-haired beauty has admitted she wasn’t aware of the error, which saw her false nomination replace Ruth Negga’s nod for Best Actress in ‘Loving’, until after it had been corrected.
And that wasn’t the only mistake to be made, as ‘Lion’s Facebook and Twitter accounts incorrectly praised Naomi Watts earning a Best Supporting Actress nomination for the drama film instead of 49-year-old Nicole Kidman, who plays Dev Patel’s on-screen adoptive mother, Sue Brierley, in the movie.
The upload was a picture detailing the six nods they had received, and read: “BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: NAOMI WATTS.”
However, the post has since been removed from all of their accounts and replaced with a corrected version.
The 89th Academy Awards will take place at the Dolby Theatre at the Hollywood and Highland Center on Sunday February 26.

Matthew McConaughey's career nerves

OHMYGOSSIP — Matthew McConaughey was terrified about telling his father he wanted to become an actor.
The ‘Gold’ star has recalled the time he confessed to his dad James that he wanted to change direction in his career and go into the film industry.
He said: “I didn’t go down the same path as my family. I was headed towards law school … and I remember being very nervous on the night when I called [my dad] my sophomore year of college to tell him I wanted to change my course direction to go to film school. I really thought he was going to be ‘Not on my dime. Like hell you will.’
“He paused and I remember him saying, ‘Is that what you want to do?’ and I said ‘Yes, sir’ and he paused again and he said, ‘Well, don’t half a** it.’ And that was the end.”
And the 47-year-old actor – who has Levi, eight, Vida, seven, and Livingston, four, with his wife Camila Alves – admits his grades suffered because he was so desperate to achieve his Hollywood dream.
He added to CNN: “I had to wear a pager in college … and I’d go, ‘If this pager goes off in the middle of class, I’m going to leave and I’m going to drive to Dallas,’ is where I would drive to go audition for some commercial or ad.
“I remember going to [my teachers] and saying look, I’m doing something to try and get work after I get out of college, would you just give me a C if I miss too many classes? I’ll be there for the major test, just give me a C. I made a lot of C’s.”

Uma Thurman close to resolving custody row

OHMYGOSSIP — Uma Thurman and Arpad Busson have settled “98 per cent” of their custody dispute.
The Kill Bill’ actress and her millionaire former fiancé have been locked in a bitter battle over four-year-old Luna but after spending hours in chambers with their lawyers and Justice Matthew Cooper trying to agree custody and financial details on Monday (23.01.17), the judge has now told them they don’t need to return to court.
According to MailOnline, the judge praised the former couple for agreeing to compromise and said: “We made a huge amount of progress and are 98 per cent resolved.”
The 46-year-old star and the financier had sat alone at either end of a shared table while negotiations were ongoing, with Uma taking out her knitting while Arpad read the Financial Times newspaper.
Outside the court, the ‘Pulp Fiction’ star seemed pleased with the negotiations.
She embraced her lawyers and said: “I have to collect my thoughts… it’s all good. [I’m] going to pick up my daughter.”
The judge scheduled a telephone conference with the lawyers for Tuesday (24.01.17) but the former couple didn’t have to be a part of it.
During the hearing, Uma – who also has kids Maya, 18, and Levon, 15, with ex-husband Ethan Hawke – alleged Arpad was “aggressive and angry” and got “meaner and meaner” throughout their on/off seven-year relationship, which ended in 2014.
She testified: “He was very difficult to be with. He was very angry. He got meaner and meaner.”
During her testimony, the actress shared Arpad’s reaction when she told him she was pregnant with Luna.
She said: “Um, he looked at me and said, ‘Well the child won’t share your last name, cannot be a U.S. citizen and can’t have a US passport and will be raised Catholic.'”
When asked by her lawyer Adam Wolff, “What was the status of the relationship following that conversation?”, she replied: “It was terrible.”
She also claimed that Luna has been left upset after Arpad missed some of his scheduled visits with the tot.
Uma said: “When she doesn’t see her father for a long time I think it just creates anxiety. It seems like she’s upset or something is bothering her around the whole issue.”

Kourtney Kardashian 'going to counselling' alone while Scott Disick parties

OHMYGOSSIP — Kourtney Kardashian has been having solo counselling sessions to repair her relationship with Scott Disick – but he won’t do the same.
The 37-year-old television personality has been trying to work on her relationship with the 33-year-old entrepreneur – with whom she has three kids, Mason, seven, Penelope, four, and Reign, two – but though she has reportedly been making sacrifices to try and make things work, it seems as if Scott isn’t putting in the same effort.
A source said: “Kourt has been making sacrifices and refraining from business opportunities which would take her away from the children.
“She has also been going to counselling by herself regularly, something she wished Scott would do too. Meanwhile Scott is present for a week or month, on good behaviour, only to routinely disappear the next.
“Kourtney is doing everything she can to provide a healthy family environment to her children, despite Scott’s periodic poor behaviour.”
And despite Scott’s absence, the ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ star is determined to make sure their children are “happy” and “well-adjusted”.
The source added to HollywoodLife.com: “Scott’s selfish behaviour has been hard on Kourtney, who is struggling to give her children structure and stability. Despite doing it all alone at times, Kourtney’s priority is to keep her kids happy, healthy and well-adjusted given their unique situation.”
The news comes after it was recently reported Scott had returned to his partying ways – which were previously cited as the reason for his split from Kourtney – at the Sundance Film Festival.
A source said: “He had a pretty wild party back at his house, where lots of girls were in his hot tub.
“He has only been out at night, and stays out till 7 a.m. partying and sleeps all day.”
And Scott’s return to partying is likely to have been a major disappointment to Kourtney as it was previously claimed he was determined to be on his “best behaviour” to prove he’d changed and win back his former partner.
An insider said previously: “He has been consistently on his best behaviour for the past two months. He’s not been partying or drinking. This is the first time we’ve seen Scott be this good in a very long time. Yes, that is always something Kourtney wanted for Scott – to calm down and be at home.”

Sharon Osbourne: Piers Morgan just wants 'a reaction'

OHMYGOSSIP — Sharon Osbourne says Piers Morgan is only controversial “to get a reaction”.
The 64-year-old television personality has defended her good friend Piers, 51, after his inflammatory remarks about the women’s marches following Donald Trumps’ Presidential inauguration.
The ‘Good Morning Britain’ host stirred controversy with an article he wrote for the Daily Mail earlier this week, when he said he was “planning a men’s march to protest at the creeping global emasculation of my gender by rabid feminists”.
Speaking on her US talk show ‘The Talk’ on Tuesday (24.01.17), Sharon stood up for Piers when she claimed he “adores women” and only makes controversial statements because he “loves the attention”.
She said: “He says this stuff to get a reaction. I know Piers very, very well. This is what he does.
“He loves the attention. Naughty Piers! I know you don’t believe what you’re saying. He doesn’t. He adores women.”
But her fellow panellist and actress Aisha Tyler refused to accept this as a reason for his comments, saying he needed to be taught “how democracy works”.
She responded: “I’m offended…I just don’t think he understand American democracy and our constitutionally protected right to assemble and have free speech and I think when he comes here, we’ll explain how democracy works.”
Sharon’s comments come after it was revealed earlier on Tuesday that actor Ewan McGregor rejected the chance to appear on ‘Good Morning Britain’ after he found out he would be interviewed by Piers.
Piers confirmed: “Ewan McGregor was meant to be the main guest on today’s show, but he has decided not to turn up.”
But the ‘T2 Trainspotting’ star was quick to hit back via social media, writing on Twitter: “Was going on Good Morning Britain, didn’t realise @piersmorgan was host. Won’t go on with him after his comments about #WomensMarch”
Piers responded: “A real man would have come on and debated it with me, not run away like a coward.”

Michelle Williams: I haven't watched Manchester by the Sea

OHMYGOSSIP — Michelle Williams hasn’t watched ‘Manchester by the Sea’.
The 36-year-old star has received an Oscar nomination in the Best Supporting Actress category for her starring role in the acclaimed drama movie, but has confessed to having never seen the film in its entirety.
Michelle revealed: “I’ve seen some scenes from the movie. I haven’t actually watched the movie.”
However, Michelle insisted she does plan to eventually watch the film, which has received six Academy Award nominations in total, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Casey Affleck), Best Supporting Actor (Lucas Hedges) and Best Original Screenplay.
She told The Wrap: “My friend and I were going to see it at a theatre in Brooklyn today, but I got called into work.”
Michelle also admitted to being surprised by the success of the Kenneth Lonergan-directed movie, which tells the story of an uncle who looks after his teenage nephew after his father dies.
The actress confessed she never expected the film to receive so many Oscar nominations.
She said: “I love these kinds of sets – they’re the ones I’m the most comfortable with. It was just another barely-held-together independent film production. We were cold and hungry and tired. But we believed in Kenny.”
Meanwhile, Michelle previously admitted to having a good feeling about ‘Manchester by the Sea’ the moment she read the script.
She explained: “Often you read something and it’s just not true.
“You can’t really trust it, you can’t imagine yourself saying it or being it or doing it. But Kenny’s dialogue gets under your skin really quickly, because it’s true. I was struck by that across the board, not just for my character but for everyone.”
But the actress still had doubts about her own personal performance in the film.
Michelle shared: “I don’t know that I’ve ever walked home from a movie set and felt I’d done a good job.”

The Weeknd 'really likes' Selena Gomez

OHMYGOSSIP — The Weeknd “really likes” Selena Gomez.
The 26-year-old musician – real name Abel Tesfaye – has been reportedly romancing the ‘Hands To Myself’ hitmaker since the pair were spotted locking lips earlier this month, and it has now been claimed the pair talk “every day” and have a “sexy and flirty relationship”.
A source said: “He really likes her. They text every day. They have a really sexy and flirty relationship. They laugh and like each other’s personalities.”
And whilst it seems things are quickly heating up between the pair, sources insist they are “just having fun” for the time being and aren’t getting too serious.
The insider added to E! News: “As of now, they are just having fun and enjoying each other.”
Their budding romance might seem to be going smoothly, but it was previously claimed the ‘Starboy’ singer was holding back from the 24-year-old popstar when they were pictured kissing outside a restaurant in Santa Monica.
Body language expert Dr. Lillian Glass said of the pictures: “His body language says he is holding back.
“When she’s kissing him, his expression says it’s too much. He’s also looking in a different direction.
“When couples are looking in different directions like this it signals that they are not like-minded.”
Despite Abel’s reservations about moving too quickly with his new relationship – which comes just months after he split from model Bella Hadid – Selena is reportedly “happy” with her new beau as he “makes her feel secure”.
A source said: “She is happy and doesn’t mind sharing that with the world.
“Abel makes her feel secure and Selena has nothing to hide. Selena gets passionate about things real fast and that is exactly what she is doing with The Weeknd.
“She finds him charming and is enamoured by the person he is and the way he presents himself to her.”

George Michael 'kept people out', Boy George reveals

OHMYGOSSIP — George Michael “kept people out” during the final years of his life, according to Boy George.
The 55-year-old singer-songwriter has revealed he was in touch with Michael “on and off” before his death in December, but was “not really” aware of the personal problems he was facing.
The ‘Karma Chameleon’ hitmaker shared: “I read stuff in the papers. But I never really knew really what – he really kept people out, he was quite private.”
George was a rival of the ‘Faith’ singer during the 1980s, but later came to appreciate his talent.
He told ‘Watch What Happens Live’: “In the early days, we were competition to each other. Both called George, both made soul music. So in the early days, we were really in competition.
“Then sort of later on, I started to really appreciate him as a musician – you know, right around ‘Faith’. I started to really appreciate his talent.”
George also set the record straight in regards to rumours the duo bickered about Michael not wanting to come out as being gay.
He said: “We did, it wasn’t really a feud. In the ’80s, everyone – Peter Burns, me, we all used to be really bitchy about each other. It’s like the thing that you did in the ’80s with those pop magazines. Now it’s the housewives who do it!
“But in the ’80s, you just said vile things about everyone.”
Michael passed away at his home on Christmas Day (25.12.16) aged 53 and his one-time pop rival was among the many stars who paid a glowing tribute to him in reaction to the news.
He wrote in a lengthy Twitter post: “I am thinking of @GeorgeMichael’s family, friends and fans right now.
“He was so loved and I hope he knew it because the sadness today is beyond words. Devastating. What a beautiful voice he had and his music will live on as a testament to his talent. I can’t believe he is gone.”

Dermot O'Leary is 'flattered' by BRITs hosting offer

OHMYGOSSIP — Dermot O’Leary is “flattered” by his offer to host the 2017 BRIT Awards.
The 43-year-old ‘X Factor’ host has confirmed he is in talks with bosses of the prestigious music ceremony to present the annual event, which takes place at London’s The O2 on February 22, and he is going to make his mind up after the National Television Awards (NTAs) on Wednesday (25.01.17).
Dermot says that while he is thrilled to have been invited to step in for Michael Bublé, who pulled out of the hosting gig so he can be with his three-year-old son Noah, who is currently battling cancer, he wishes it could have been under “different circumstances”.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper about the potential gig, he said: “Obviously it’s hugely flattering to be asked, I’d much rather be asked in different circumstances though.
“We should not forget in all of this that a little boy’s really ill and his dad’s got to take some time off to look after him.
“I’m not saying that in a schmaltzy way, it’s obviously very important.
“That said though, it’s a really tough gig and it’s a huge gig to be asked to do.
“But I want to get the NTAs out of the way first before I sit down so I’m just concentrating on the NTAs.”
Emma Willis, 40 – who hosts ‘The Voice UK’ and ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ – is also being tipped to take on the role.
A source previously said: “Dermot is exactly what ITV want to host the Brits, a safe pair of hands.
“He has that wealth of experience, specially with live TV.
“He has been at the helm of ‘The X Factor’ for a decade and has a solid awards background too, thanks to the National Television Awards [NTAs].
“He is talking to producers but hasn’t made a decision yet. Emma is also an option.”
The BRIT Awards, in association with Mastercard, will be broadcast live on ITV on February 22.

The ‘Strictly Sexual’ star is focusing all of her time on staying sober as looks to have a much healthier 2017.
A representative for the star told E! News: “Brooke is back home with her kids after having spent the past several months working on her sobriety, which she will continue to do as she looks forward to a healthy 2017.”
Charlie – who found out he was HIV-positive in 2011 – has said that his ex-spouse and their kids are doing “good” since they’ve been reunited at the family’s home.
Speaking on Australia’s Kyle and Jackie O Show on Tuesday (24.01.17), he said: “Brooke, Denise, the kids, we’re all good. Cooler than cool.”

Take That to perform on The Late Late Show with James Corden

OHMYGOSSIP — Take That are to join James Corden on ‘The Late Late Show’ in March for their first US talk show slot in 22 years.
The ‘Back For Good’ hitmakers – Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald – last appeared on television across the pond in 1995, when they were on the ‘Late Show with David Letterman’, but according to a source the British group will join the 38-year-old British comedian on his show to perform a new song from their forthcoming album ‘Wonderland’.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “James has a deep-lying love of Take That which has only intensified since they became pals.
“Now he has the power of The Late Late Show behind him, he can put a big US audience in front of them and help push their name.
“He is also genuinely happy to interview them and listen to their music as he’s such a mega fan.”
In 2015, frontman Gary, 46, suggested he was on the “brink” of success in America after his Broadway show ‘Finding Neverland’ smashed the box office taking in £6.7 million in advance sales.
The ‘Rule The World’ hitmaker, who penned the score for the new show, said that while he failed to crack the US at the height of his Take That career, he felt well-placed to do so.
At the time, he admitted: “I think I’m now on the brink of success in America. It’s come to me, I haven’t chased it. I haven’t been lying in bed, thinking, ‘I’ve got to crack America.’
“I did in the 90s, but I honestly haven’t considered it since. It’s fallen at my feet.”
Despite his best efforts, Gary acknowledged he never came close to breaking the US market.
He recalled: “I tried hard when I went solo after Take That split. ‘Back For Good’ was a hit here and I was signed to RCA Records.
“I did a nine-month radio tour, I gave it a real go. I had two albums but we never got close.”

Jada Pinkett Smith praises 'beautiful' diverse Oscars nominations

OHMYGOSSIP — Jada Pinkett Smith has praised the diverse and “beautiful” Oscar nominations.
The 45-year-old actress and her ‘Suicide Squad’ actor husband Will Smith joined a range of celebrities in protesting against the apparent lack of diversity amongst the Academy Award nominations for 2016, but she has been blown away by the representation of black stars in this year’s shortlist.
Speaking to Variety, she said: “I feel really fantastic. It’s a beautiful thing to see. We had a lot of exceptional films this year.
“I’m glad to see that protects like ‘Hidden Figures’, ‘Fences’ and ‘Moonlight’ are getting recognition. I’m very proud this morning.”
The ‘Magic Mike XXL’ star feels it is more important than ever before for artists to use their status to express how they want to Hollywood to be “identified” especially with the election of President Donald Trump.
She added: “Because of the state that this country is in, as artists it’s so important we use our platform to help shine light on how we want to be identified as a country.
“I look at this beautiful step towards that.
“Just our participation as artists in this time of how went want to represent our country, what is the messaging we want the world to see.
“As artists we have strong voices. We create strong imagery in regards to the identity of our country.
“It’s important that we take responsibility for that.”
Despite a more diverse line up this year, Will said he will continue to boycott the Oscars in 2017, regardless of whether he receives a nomination or not.
He previously said: “You know what, there was a time in my life when box office was everything.
“You know, if you didn’t get nominated you were under the bed for three weeks and all of that.
“It’s always fun to be invited to the party, but that’s all it can be.”
But the ‘Concussion’ star isn’t holding a grudge against The Academy, as he said earlier this year he was “very pleased” at the speedy response given by the board, who said they aimed to double its number of female and minority members by 2020.
He said at the time: “I was very pleased at how quickly and aggressively the Academy responded. But I want to be very clear about the spirit of what I’m saying. This is far beyond me. This has nothing to do with me, this has nothing to do with awards. Awards, that’s a really frivolous reason for me to put my hand up and make a statement. For me, this is much more about the idea of diversity and inclusion.”
