Natalie Portman has no baby name yet

OHMYGOSSIP — Natalie Portman hasn’t chosen a name for her baby yet.
The ‘Jackie’ actress and her husband Benjamin Millepied – who already have five-year-old son Aleph together – are expecting their second child but haven’t compiled a shortlist of possible monikers for their offspring as they think it is important to “meet” the baby first.
Asked if she has chosen a name for the impending new arrival yet, Natalie said: “You got to meet a baby before. Gotta meet the baby and then figure it out.”
The 35-year-old actress donned a stunning billowing white Dior gown accessorised with Tiffany diamonds to the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday (29.01.17) and felt “really lucky” to find a dress that fit her growing figure.
She told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “It just came off the runway last week and crazily fit. Shocking! It was very loose on the model.”
Natalie was nominated for an award for her role in ‘Jackie’, and though she lost out to ‘La La Land’ star Emma Stone for the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role prize, she was just happy to be at the event because she is so “proud” of the movie, which follows the life of former First Lady Jackie Kennedy after the assassination of her husband, President John F. Kennedy, and felt it was particularly important to “celebrate art” in the wake of the current political climate.
She said: “I’m so proud of the film, Jackie, and to be here with the people I love working with.
“Especially at a moment that’s dark in our country’s history, to be celebrating art and people trying to express human emotion and be empathetic towards other people is good.”

Denzel Washington predicted Casey Affleck win

OHMYGOSSIP — Denzel Washington expected Casey Affleck to win the Screen Actors Guild Award for best actor.
The ‘Fences’ star was stunned to pick up the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role award at Sunday (29.01.17) evening’s ceremony as he initially expected the ‘Manchester by the Sea’ actor – who triumphed at the Golden Globes earlier this month – to take home the honour, but as the evening wore on, he had a sudden “feeling” it might be his lucky night.
Denzel said: “Casey [Affleck] has been winning everything so I assumed… I actually prepared a speech in case we won best ensemble, so I said I better be ready just in case because, I knew I had to speak for the cast.
“As the night was going along, I got a feeling. I said, ‘Boy, you better start thinking of some things just in case.'”
The 62-year-old star has won a host of awards throughout his career but scoring his first-ever SAG prize at Sunday’s ceremony was particularly special as he wasn’t expecting it.
He told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “I’ve been blessed. I’ve won the SAG, a Tony, three Golden Globes, and two Oscars. I’m blessed. I got no complaints.
“This is special tonight for me because I didn’t expect it. And I appreciate it because I know actors understand what it is we do.”
And Denzel – who was accompanied to the event by his wife Pauletta – was equally delighted by his ‘Fences’ co-star Viola Davis’ Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role win.
He said: “That’s my girl, I love her. She’s a brilliant, brilliant actor and it’s her turn. The actor has met the role now and she deserves everything she’s getting, absolutely.”
Denzel is also nominated for Best Actor at the upcoming Academy Awards, making him the most nominated African-American actor in the history of the Oscars, and he thinks the record is “beautiful”.
He said: “It’s beautiful. It means that because of the people that came before me, I’ve had the opportunity to get better scripts and therefore get the chances to win.
“Because of the James Edwards, and Sidney Poitiers, and James Earl Jones, and all those who came before me, Lou Gosetts, and on and on and all the way back, because they laid the groundwork, I have the opportunity to do this.
“Somebody up there tonight, or in this whole cycle, [Mahershala ] Ali or one of the other guys, are one day gonna do more than me. They set it up for me, and now I’ve set it up for the next.”

Antonio Banderas rushed to hospital after suffering heart scare

OHMYGOSSIP — Antonio Banderas was rushed to hospital after suffering agonising pains in his chest on Thursday (26.01.17).
The 56-year-old actor was exercising when he suffered the health scare at his £2.4 million mansion in Cobham, Surrey, and was taken into St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey by paramedics.
Banderas – who lives in his five-bedroom abode with his girlfriend Nicole Kimpel, 37 – told The Sun newspaper he had experienced an “episode” and thanked the medics for their care.
Previously, the Hollywood star – whose 19-year marriage to actress Melanie Griffith ended in 2015 – revealed how much he loves living in his mansion in leafy Surrey.
He shared: “This house gives me the simplicity and freedom I need in my life at the moment.
“I find Surrey completely magical. I am not a party person anymore, so I have the space and peace to write and really get inside my own head – I am working on several of my own scripts.
“I go cycling in the woods and everyone in Cobham, Weybridge and Esther is incredibly friendly. Above all I am surrounded by nature. I love watching the deer and foxes that come to my garden.”
The ‘Mask of Zorro’ actor also admitted his life has undergone a huge transformation since the collapse of his marriage to Melanie.
In addition to his acting career, Banderas has studied fashion at Central Saint Martins college in London and recently created his own menswear line.
Banderas admitted he has relished the opportunity to reinvent himself over the last couple of years.
He said: “My life changed very much during the last two years, personal reasons.
“The possibility of reinventing myself was there, and so I said, ‘Probably this is the moment that I can do this.'”

Lily Tomlin's hilarious life advice

OHMYGOSSIP — Lily Tomlin offered advice to aspiring actors as she picked up her SAG Life Achievement Award – and her tips included wear sunscreen and don’t go out when drunk.
The 77-year-old actress had the audience at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium in fits of laughter as she accepted the prize from her friend Dolly Parton at the ceremony on Sunday (29.01.17) and shared her tips for surviving in the industry for so long.
Giving advice to young hopefuls, she said: “Along with telling them to wear sunscreen, I suggest a few other things I think you may find helpful.
“Don’t leave your house when you’re drunk. If you’re already out, you must learn to tell when you’ve had too much to drink.
“Listen to your friends. When they stop talking to you and start talking about you, saying things like, ‘Did she have a purse?’
“Don’t be anxious when you miss an opportunity. Behind every failure is an opportunity someone wishes they had missed.
“Mind what [Henry David] Thoreau said, ‘Beware of any enterprise that requires new clothing.’ Doesn’t that ring sort of true tonight to a few of you? It does to me.”
After Dolly – who had stepped in to present the award after their ‘9 to 5’ co-star Jane Fonda fell ill – presented a montage of her friend’s most famous work, Lily expressed her amazement she’d done so well as she only ever “showed promise” to be “trouble”.
She said: “When I recall my youth, I can’t even point to a time where I showed promise to be anything but trouble. When I was a senior in high school, my counselor called me into his office to tell me they were thinking of holding back my diploma.
“Turned out I’d been a student for four years but, I had been absent one. Cumulatively I’d been absent one year. I would literally stay out, 12, 13 days in a row if my hair didn’t turn out right. Those of you from that era know what I mean because hair was really important. But, somehow, I learned to turn my flaws into spiritual lessons.”
Dolly’s introduction was equally hilarious as Lily’s speech as she poked fun at her famous assets.
The 71-year-old country singer quipped: “I almost didn’t get in. They were holding me backstage, kept wanting to see my IDs. At least I think that’s what he asked to see. It was something with IDs, maybe double Ds. Well, I’m glad to get that off my chest.
“I might say Lily is getting an award for something I’ve spent my whole life trying to avoid, a SAG award. I see something sagging, I’m calling Dr. Markowitz, to get that nipped, tucked, and stuffed right away.”

Azealia Banks shares Rihanna's mobile phone number on social media

OHMYGOSSIP — Azealia Banks has posted Rihanna’s mobile phone number on social media.
The 25-year-old singer embarked on a digital feud with the ‘Kiss It Better’ hitmaker over the weekend, which saw her screenshot a picture of the 28-year-old vocalist’s personal contact details and share it with her almost 500,000 Instagram followers.
The ‘212’ musician captioned the post: “Bombs away! (sic).”
However, Azealia has since deleted the upload, and the number has been disconnected to ensure Rihanna has no cold callers.
This news comes after Azealia slammed fellow celebrities for using their fame to “stir” and influence the public, following the American President Donald Trump’s order to ban citizens from several countries from entering the US for the next three months.
Bajan star Rihanna spoke out against the new leader, and tweeted: “Disgusted! The news is devastating! America is being ruined right before our eyes! What an immoral pig you have to be to implement such BS!! (sic).”
To which Azealia retorted: “As far as Rihanna (who isn’t a citizen, and can’t vote) and all the rest of the celebrities who are using their influence to stir the public, you lot really REALLY need to shut up and sit down.
“Stop chastising the president. It’s stupid and pathetic to watch. All of these confused people confuse other confused people. (sic).”
But Rihanna didn’t take the comment lightly and seemingly retaliated with an indirect comment about Azealia, who recently claimed she was a witch and was involved in murdering chickens as part of a spiritual ritual.
Alongside a picture of Rihanna sporting just a black piece of fabric to cover her ample assets as she pouts for the camera, she wrote: “the face you make when you a immigrant ??
#stayawayfromthechickens #iheartnuggets
#saveourhens. (sic).”

Denzel Washington shocked by SAG win

OHMYGOSSIP — Denzel Washington was stunned to pick up his first-ever Screen Actors Guild (SAG) award on Sunday (29.01.17).
The 62-year-old actor admitted he didn’t have “faith” in himself and hadn’t written a speech as he had expected the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role prize to go to one of the other stars nominated for the award, Casey Affleck, Andrew Garfield, Ryan Gosling or Viggo Mortensen.
Accepting the prize at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, he said: “Thank you very much.
“You know, I am a God-fearing man. I’m supposed to have faith, but I didn’t have faith. God bless you all, all the other actors. I’d say, ‘You know, young boys are going to win, you ain’t going to win.’ So I didn’t even prepare. But I am prepared!”
He went on to thank America’s original playwrights, the cast and crew of his movie ‘Fences’ and those who “don’t get recognised”, such as the writers.
Following her recent success at the Golden Globe Awards, ‘La La Land’ star Emma Stone picked up the SAG for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role and was so surprised, she forgot her speech.
She said: “Thank you so much for this. Wow, to be an actor, playing an actor and receiving an actor by a guild of actors, it’s pretty exceptional. Thank you
“OK. I forgot everything that I ever have thought in my life.”
But the 28-year-old actress quickly recovered and thanked her fellow nominees and her co-star Ryan Gosling.
She said: “The women in this category, really quickly.
“Meryl Streep, Natalie Portman, Emily Blunt, Amy Adams. You are the greatest and your talent and intelligence are mind-blowing.
“Ryan, you are the best. That’s just the truth. Nobody can argue that.”
Elsewhere at the ceremony, ‘The Crown’ stars John Lithgow and Claire Foy picked up the drama series acting accolades, and both were emotional as they accepted their awards.
Taking his statuette for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series, John admitted: “I never would have cast myself as Winston Churchill. This was the bright idea of Peter Morgan, Stephen Daldry and Nina Gold.”
And when she stepped up on stage shortly afterwards, Claire admitted she was still “really emotional and a bit shaky” after seeing her co-star win.
Following a string of thank yous to those who worked on the show, the brunette beauty singled out Matt Smith, who played her on-screen husband Prince Philip.
She said: “But one actor in particular I’m going to really embarrass: Matt Smith.
“You’re not only a really spontaneous, exciting, incredibly talented actor, but you’re also my friend, Matt. And thank you for making this job a joy, and for making me laugh. I love you very much.”
William H. Macy picked up the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in ‘Shameless’ and joked both he and fellow nominee ‘Transparent’ actor Jeffrey Tambor were “shocked” by his win.
He quipped: “I’m shocked to be up here. Probably not as shocked as Jeffrey.”
‘Veep’ star Julia Louis-Dreyfus picked up her fourth SAG, for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series and used her speech to take a stand against President Donald Trump’s controversial immigration ban.
She said: “I want you all to know that I am the daughter of an immigrant.
“My father fled religious persecution in Nazi-occupied France and I’m an American patriot and I love this country and because I love this country, I am horrified by its blemishes. And this immigrant ban is a blemish and it is un-American.”
Other winners at the event included Denzel’s ‘Fences’ co-star Viola Davis, the casts of ‘Hidden Figures’, ‘Orange is the New Black’, and ‘Stranger Things’, ‘Moonlight’ actor Mahershala Ali, Bryan Cranston, and Sarah Paulson.

SAG winners criticise immigration ban

OHMYGOSSIP — Ashton Kutcher, Mahershala Ali, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and a host of other stars criticised President Donald Trump at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday (29.01.17).
The 38-year-old actor opened the show with a pointed barb about the new president’s recent immigration order – which restrict people from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States – and set the tone for the evening as almost all of the evening’s winners also referenced the controversial move.
Ashton said: “Good evening, fellow SAG-AFTRA members and everyone at home. And everyone in airports that belong in my America.
“You are a part of the fabric of who we are, and we love you and we welcome you.”
‘Moonlight’ actor Mahershala – who is Muslim – gave a heartfelt speech as he picked up the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role prize and admitted he hoped there was a lot to learn from his movie in the current climate.
The 42-year-old star told the audience at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium: “You see what happens when you persecute people, and they fold into themselves …
“What I was so grateful about in having the opportunity to play Juan, was playing a gentleman who saw a young man folding into himself as a result of the persecution of his community and taking that opportunity to uplift him and tell him he mattered, that he was OK. And accept him. I hope that we do a better job of that…
“My mother is an ordained minister. I’m a Muslim. She didn’t do backflips when I called her to tell her I converted 17 years ago.
“You put things to the side and I’m able to see her and she’s able to see me. We love each other. The love has grown. And that stuff is minutiae. It’s not that important.”
Julia described the immigration order as a “blemish” and “un-American” as she picked up her award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series.
She said: “My father fled religious persecution in Nazi-occupied France.
“I’m an American patriot. And I love this country, and because I love this country, I am horrified by its blemishes, and this immigrant ban is a blemish, and it is un-American.”
Bryan Cranston was asked what his presidential character, Lyndon B. Johnson, who he portrayed in ‘All the Way’, would make of the new president.
The Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Mini-Series winner said: “I honestly feel that 36 would put his arm around 45 and earnestly wish him success.
“And he would also whisper in his ear something he said often, as a form of encouragement and a cautionary tale, ‘Just don’t p**s in the soup that all of us got to eat.’ ”
Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role winner Denzel Washington, who triumphed for his role in ‘Fences’, called for a more empathetic society, while Emma Stone, who took the female equivelant prize for ‘La La Land’ ended her speech with a reference to the “inexcusable” ban.
She said: “Things are very inexcusable and scary and need action. I’m so grateful to be part of a group of people that cares.”
Accepting the honour for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Mini-Series, ‘The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story’ actress Sarah Paulson urged people to donate to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
Amid the hilarity of her Life Achievement award speech, Lily Tomlin made a number of pointed quips.
She said: “The Doomsday Clock has been moved to two and a half minutes before midnight. And this award came just in the nick of time.”
She later added: “What sign should I make for the next march? So much to do.”
‘Hidden Figures’ actress Taraji P. Henson noted the film was about unity and showed how important it is to come together.
She said: “When we put our differences aside and we come together as a human race. We win, love wins. Every time.”

Claire Foy keeps awards in the toilet

OHMYGOSSIP — Claire Foy keeps her awards in her “downstairs toilet”.
The 32-year-old actress doesn’t want her friends and family think she is “showing off” by openly displaying the prizes she’s won for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II in ‘The Crown’ so has opted for somewhere more discreet where her visitors can be surprised to catch a glimpse of the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild award statuettes.
Asked where she keeps her awards, Claire said: “In my toilet, not actually in my toilet but in my downstairs toilet.
“You can’t put it anywhere noticeable, because everyone would be like, ‘Oh yeah, showing off” ”
Her co-star Matt Smith said: “I think it’s quite a good spot for it actually. It would be crass [to have it out on display].”
However, the 34-year-old actor – who plays Prince Philip in the Netflix drama series – admitted Claire is putting the awards at risk by having them in her second bathroom.
Speaking on the red carpet at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday (29.01.17) ahead of her Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series win, Claire said: “Everyone can go in the toilet and be like, ‘Oooooooooh.’ ”
But Matt pointed out: “Or try and steal it – it would be a good place to steal it.”
And the British actress also suggested she could find another use for her Golden Globe.
She said: “It’s so heavy. It’s a real weapon.”
The two stars were thrilled to learn ‘Candle in the Wind’ singer Sir Elton John has been a big fan of the series.
Asked by E! News’ Giuliana Rancic who they’ve heard is the most surprising fan of the show, Claire said: “Lots of really cool young directors and writers have watched it and liked it, which is surprising, you wouldn’t expect them to watch a programme about the royal family.”
Matt added: “Elton John watched it, I heard, we like Elton.”
Claire agreed: “We love Elton.”

David and Victoria Beckham spent dates in pub car parks

OHMYGOSSIP — David and Victoria Beckham used to spend their dates together in pub car parks.
The 41-year-old former soccer star and the 42-year-old fashion designer tried to keep their relationship quiet during their first few months of dating in the 90s, and David has admitted they even resorted to sneaking off to pub car parks in order to spend time together.
David shared: “We used to sit in a Harvester car park and we just used to … we just used to kiss, of course, and spend time together.”
David and Victoria tied the knot in 1999 and were due to have Sir Elton John appear at their lavish wedding, but the legendary singer was forced to pull out at the last minute due to healthy problems.
Despite this, Sir Elton did later perform at the christening of their children.
David – who shares children Brooklyn, 17, Romeo, 14, Cruz, 11, and Harper, five, with his wife – admitted he is particularly fond of Sir Elton’s hit ‘Something About The Way You Look Tonight’ and said he considers the 69-year-old star to be a good friend.
He told BBC Radio 4’s ‘Desert Island Discs’: “We became friends with Elton, and he was coming to the wedding to perform this song.
“We had a phone call that morning to say unfortunately Elton was on the plane and had a heart attack.
“Obviously we were more worried about his health and how he was but we christened the kids a couple of years after that, and he came and performed this song in our house, and it’s a very special song for us.”
Meanwhile, it was recently reported that David and Victoria raked in a £22 million bonus from their business empire.
The duo earned the staggering amount from profits at their business firm Beckham Brand Holdings after accounts showed annual profits for the company have quadrupled from £10 million to just under £40 million.
Beckham Brand Holdings oversees the fashion firm run by the former Spice Girl as well as DB Ventures, which brings in money from “licensing and other forms of commercialisation of the David Beckham brand”.

He said: “It’s very overwhelming and strange because I’ve always been the dude that never got a girlfriend in school. I was kind of the awkward outsider. So not that it’s changed much but I’m still the same. I feel the same.”
And the 26-year-old actor – who recently made the history books by becoming the first Indian actor to get a nomination in the Best Actor in a Supporting Role category at the Academy Awards – is “overwhelmingly grateful” for all the good things that have happened to him recently.
He added: “Isn’t that insane! I feel so overwhelmingly grateful. I don’t know why I’m the recipient of so much luck and love. But it’s beautiful. It’s amazing. I’m just grateful.”
Meanwhile, Dev admits a lot has changed since he starred in his breakout role in ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ nearly ten years ago and quipped he would like to “go back to that place of innocence”.
He told Entertainment Tonight: “I was beautifully unaware of everything back then and now I’ve come through it a couple times. It’s more complex. It’s more emotions in my head. I actually would like to go back to that place of innocence.”
And Dev previously likened himself to a “celery stick” and revealed how meeting ‘Lion’s director Garth Davis “changed him completely”.
He explained: “I always felt like a goofy celery stick … I was a tiny twig, with short hair. Completely different to what Garth [Davis] changed me into.
“Garth would say, ‘We need to make you more alpha and get your facial hair growing.’ So I moved differently, I felt differently in my clothes and all these kind of things.”

Robbie Williams: Partying nearly killed me

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams’ party-loving lifestyle in the 90s nearly killed him.
The 42-year-old singer was a heavy drinker and drug user during his younger years and has admitted he nearly paid the ultimate price for his excessive partying.
He shared: “I’m really pleased that I did what I did, when I did it, because it was a life experience that I paid for in the end – nearly with my life – but in the good old days it was life-affirming and spiritual.”
The ‘Candy’ hitmaker admitted he took his lifestyle to the very limits before he decided to seek professional help for his drink and drug problems.
He said: “I seemed to be pushing it further than anybody else that was around me. I was testing the limits before I either died or went to rehab. I went to rehab and got clean.”
However, Robbie – who has a four-year-old daughter called Teddy and a two-year-old son called Charlton with his actress wife Ayda Field – has insisted he could never return to his old lifestyle.
He told The Resident magazine: “I can’t do the time, so I don’t do the crime.
“I can’t do the hangovers or the downs and the highs. I love my wife, I love my children and I have to be there for them mentally and physically.”
Robbie also admitted to being very content with life at the moment, revealing he feels “free”.
Asked if he’s happier than he’s ever previously been, the singer explained: “I’m definitely not the most miserable that I’ve ever been. I love my life. I am powerful. I am beautiful. I am free.”
Last week, meanwhile, a sexual harassment case against Robbie and Ayda was dismissed.
The couple – who previously branded the allegations brought against them as “despicable lies” – had been accused of a string offences that also included discrimination, breach of employment contract and fraud by former personal assistant Gilles De Bonfihs but he dropped the allegations.
Lawyer Yitz Weiss, who was representing Gilles, refused to comment as to whether it had been dropped because of a private settlement.

Emma Watson's 'crazy demands'

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Watson and Miles Teller reportedly missed out on the lead roles in ‘La La Land’ because they demanded too much.
It has been claimed that the ‘Harry Potter’ actress made a series of “crazy demands” and whilst producers “jumped through hoops” to give her what she wanted, she ultimately decided she wasn’t right for the role.
One insider said: “Miles was offered $4 million to star in ‘La La Land,’ but he said he wanted $6 million.
“Watson was offered the lead female role, but she initially wouldn’t commit. Then she began making all these crazy demands, like rehearsals for the film must be done in London – for a film called ‘La La Land’! They jumped through hoops to make it work with her, but she just didn’t feel the film was right for her. Producers finally cast Emma Stone – and once she was on board, Ryan Gosling jumped at the chance to work with her again.”
And the pair are said to be furious they missed out on the role as the film has won a string of gongs and are expected to scoop a number of Academy Awards later this month.
Another source added to the New York Post’s Page Six column: “Both Miles and Emma f***ed themselves over for not doing ‘La La Land’.
“Now that it’s winning all the awards, they’re freaking out and looking for someone else to blame.”
Emma Stone received a nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in ‘La La Land’ and admitted it was “beyond any of her wildest imaginings”.
She said recently: “What a morning. I am so grateful for this honour and I’m so happy to share this feeling with my ‘La La Land’ family. The greatest part of life is connecting with people, and I love the deeply talented, kind and passionate people I was lucky enough to work with on this movie.
“I’m also overjoyed that the movie has connected with audiences in the way it has, and that it’s hopefully bringing a kick in their step to those who watch it. This is beyond any of our wildest imaginings and we can’t wait to celebrate together.”

Arrival director disappointed by Amy Adams' Oscars snub

OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Adams’ Oscar snub for her movie ‘Arrival’ has “disappointed” the film’s director Denis Villeneuve.
The 49-year-old filmmaker was thrilled to find out he had been nominated for Best Director and the movie had received seven more nods including for Best Picture but was upset to see the 42-year-old actress didn’t make the cut.
She said: “It was so strange. When they announced, at one point we were like, I think, already five nominations or something like that, so we were like popping the champagne …
“When I saw that she was not [nominated], it was such a big disappointment, because she’s the soul, she was my muse. I owe her everything for ‘Arrival’. So when they announced my name, it was like a strange mix of emotion. A lot of joy and sadness at the same time. Very strange experience.”
And producer Shawn Levy echoed his sentiment and praised Amy’s “sanguine graciousness” despite not receiving a nomination herself.
He told People magazine: “I was surprised. Certainly, if you acknowledge ‘Arrival’ to the extent that the Academy did, and if we all take it as an inarguable fact that Amy Adams’s performance is in every frame of the film, and is pervasive throughout the soul and heart of the film, then I choose to live in the positive and simply conclude that the acknowledgement to the movie is an acknowledgement of her performance.
“The first call I got that morning was from Amy. Her sanguine graciousness, her firm pride in what we did together as a filmmaking unit, was so elegant, and gracious, and strong. So I’m aspiring to that grace.”
The film’s cast and crew will find out the fate of the movie when the Academy Award winners are revealed at the ceremony in Los Angeles on February 26.
