Julia Louis-Dreyfus admits she felt ‘immortal’ before breast cancer fight

OHMYGOSSIP — Julia Louis-Dreyfus felt “immortal” before her breast cancer fight.
The ‘Veep’ actress, 63, was diagnosed with the disease in September 2017, with the news delivered by her doctor who called her to tell her she had stage 2 breast cancer the day after she won her sixth consecutive Emmy award for her role in the HBO political satire.
She told presenter Hoda Kotb, 59, on the ‘Today’ show as the pair discussed their respective fights with the illness: “I think that when you’re younger, there’s kind of this arrogance of youth, of feeling like… you do feel immortal. “And then all of a sudden you’re bumped up against that and you’re like, ‘Oh, wait a minute. This, at some point, is going to end.’
“You don’t go through life thinking about that very much. So it puts into sharp focus priorities. It did for me.”
The actress added about how the diagnosis changed her perspective on life: “I made more of an attitude shift about what my priorities were and how to sort of go forth.”
Julia previously told WSJ. Magazine the first thing she did when her doctor told her she had cancer was double over with laughter.
She said: “I mean, it felt like it was written. It felt like it was a horrible black comedy. And then it sort of morphed into crying hysterically.
“You just simply don’t consider it for yourself, you know, that’s sort of the arrogance of human beings.
“But of course, at some point, we’re all going to bite it.
“I find myself living more mindfully. It’s not like it’s yakking at me all the time, but there’s more laser focus.”
Julia announced she was cancer-free in October 2018 after a double mastectomy and six rounds of chemotherapy.
Hoda was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007 and told Julia before she spoke about her fight with the illness: “One of the reasons I’ve always wanted to talk to you is that many years ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and something struck me in that moment.
“I realised for the very first time in my life that my life had a beginning and an end.
“I have never actually visualized it until that diagnosis. It’s like the world snapped into focus. I cleared away stuff I didn’t want anymore. I held on tightly to the things I did.”

Maya Hawke admits Stranger Things filming has been ‘heartbreaking’

OHMYGOSSIP — Maya Hawke admits filming the final season of ‘Stranger Things’ has been “heartbreaking”.
The 25-year-old actress – who joined the show as Robin Buckley in season three, which aired five years ago – is trying to be there for her castmate and the crew who have been part of the Netflix sci-fi series since the beginning.
She told Entertainment Tonight: “It’s already starting to be heartbreaking, you know? I mean, it’s the end of a really long journey.
“Longer for some of my castmates, even, than for me. So it’s really sentimental.
“But as a late addition cast member, I feel like it’s my job to be here to facilitate their feelings and just be grateful and excited to have been a part of it at all.”
Despite all the emotions around the end of the show – which will reach its conclusion with the upcoming fifth and final season – and its often draining storylines, Maya tries to be the one to keep people feeling cheery on set.
She added: “We shoot for a long time, so it’s kind of reinvigorating [to bring] the joy and finding it everyday and making it new. It’s a really fun thing to do.”
The ‘Inside Out 2’ star is the daughter of Hollywood stars Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, and she recently admitted that there are “so many people” in the world who do not get to embark on the sort of career she has because they do not have industry connections.
She told the Saturday Times: “‘Deserves…’ is a complicated word.
“There are so many people who deserve to have this kind of life who don’t, but I think I’m comfortable with not deserving it and doing it anyway.
“And I know that my not doing it wouldn’t help anyone. I saw two paths when I was first starting, and one of them was: change your name, get a nose job and go to open casting roles.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Roger Federer is “happy to be back to regular routines” following his retirement.
The 42-year-old tennis legend – who is married to Mirka Federer and has twins Myla and Charlene, 14, as well as Leo and Lenny, 10, with her – retired for good in 2022 and admitted that he and his wife are both enjoying a “completely different life” after enduring the “insane logistics” of his career.
He told US TV show ‘Extra’: “The good thing is we started dating when I was about 18 and a half, 19. I was super young at the time, and so we’ve spent a whole life basically together already.
“We had the first half of my career without kids, the second half then with kids, so logistics were insane. So now obviously life is completely different, but we’re happy that we’re back to better routines, let’s say. No match the next day, no practice the next day, so you’re much more relaxed, I think, at home. But of course the kids keep us extremely busy. I mean, school work for them now is very intense, so we try to help them as much as we can together.”
Roger – who was ranked world No. 1 in singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) for 310 weeks – was then asked what advice he would’ve given his younger self and explained he should have known that the kind of “pressure” he would be put under amid intense fame.
He said: “Get ready for a great life and a very enjoyable ride, a lot of times in the spotlight, under pressure trying to save break points and trying to say the right things on a red carpet or in a press conference.
“But you’re gonna have a great time and you kind of wish it’s going to go on forever, but everything has a has an end point. I’m happy I was able to last as long as I did in the in the public eye under pressure, you know, on the biggest courts of the world. It’s been an absolute dream career. I couldn’t be any more happier.”

Meghan Trainor regrets intimate confession about love life

OHMYGOSSIP — Meghan Trainor regrets opening up about intimate struggles with her husband in the bedroom.
The 30-year-old singer previously discussed her sex life with husband Daryl Sabara and admitted she wished he was “smaller” because making love with him was so “painful”, but now she wishes she hadn’t said anything at all.
Speaking in a new interview with ‘The Pick Up’ podcast, she said: “The one thing I’m like, ‘Please stop writing articles about that’ is when I talked about sexy time with my husband and that I would be uncomfortable afterwards.
“I said he’s a big boy and I keep seeing ‘Meghan walks weird after [intercourse] because her husband’s a big boy’ and I’m like ‘Please stop writing that article.’ ”
The ‘All About That Bass’ hitmaker married the ‘Spy Kids’ actor in 2018, and a year ago made the candid comments about their love life on her own Workin’ On It’ podcast.
After consulting with her doctor, the songwriter was diagnosed with vaginismus – defined as involuntary tensing of the vagina – and she admitted she would prefer it if her husband had a “smaller” penis.
She added: “I was told I have something called vaginismus. I thought that every woman walking around was always in pain during and after sex.
“I was like, doc, are you telling me that I could have sex and not feel a single bit of pain?”
Meghan also said they had tried “every” sex “angle”, but added “each one [has been] worse than the other”.
Rejecting her podcast guest Trisha Paytas’ idea to get on top, Meghan said: “I’m like ‘Please, no, for so many reasons.’ I’m like, ‘Don’t look at me. I don’t like this. This hurts way worse.’”
They had son Riley in February 2021, and she revealed it took “so long” for her “to even consider” having sex with the actor before they conceived their second child Barry Bruce, who she welcomed into the world in July 2023.

Aly Michalka welcomes first baby with husband Stephen Ringer

OHMYGOSSIP — Aly Michalka has welcomed her first baby with husband Stephen Ringer.
The 35-year-old singer – who shot to fame in the early 2000s with her sister AJ Michalka as part of the pop duo Aly and AJ – has been married to cinematographer Stephen, 39, for almost a decade and the couple became a family of three with the arrival of their son Jack towards the end of April.
She told People: “It was a very peaceful and calm birth, which is really what we were hoping for. We just kind of knew immediately like, ‘Oh yeah, he’s a Jack.”
The former Disney Channel star noted that while giving birth is different for every single woman, she decided to opt for a home birth because she wanted th “avoid” too much medical intervention,
She said: “Every woman’s birth is really their own journey and their own choice. But I do feel like our medical system intervenes in ways that can be really harmful for women and really traumatic for not only themselves, but for their baby. For me, it felt like a great way to be able to avoid that.”
The ‘Potential Breakup Song’ hitmaker feels “ready to take on this new responsibility” of parenthood and has found that she and her husband are “laughing” about most things so far.
She said: “We were trying to take Jack’s passport photo the other day because he’s traveling soon since I have work. We were just laughing, trying to get a photo of him with his face straight-on instead of turned to the side, or his eyes closed.
“”I was like, ‘It’s good that we’re laughing through this and not stressing or upset or crying or whatever, because you could so easily turn a moment that maybe isn’t super stressful into a stressful one if you just look at it the wrong way.”

Gary Glitter ordered to pay victim over £500,000

OHMYGOSSIP — Gary Glitter has been ordered to pay more than £500,000 to one of the women he abused.
The disgraced 79-year-old singer – who was sentenced to 16 years in prison in 2015 for sexually abusing three schoolgirls between 1975 and 1980 – was sued by a victim for damages, and he has how been ordered to pay her £508,800 in compensation.
Glitter – whose real name is Paul Gadd – was automatically released from jail in February 2023, but was recalled after breaching his licence conditions.
A High Court judge has ordered him to pay his victim after she said she was subjected to abuse “of the most serious kind”.
Mrs Justice Tipples added that it had a “very significant adverse impact” on the victim’s life.
Included in the payout is £381,000 for lost earnings, and £7,800 for future therapy and treatment.
Richard Scorer, Head of Abuse and Law at Slater and Gordon, acts for the claimant and insisted the award “goes some way to recognising” the impact on the victim.
He said: “In making this award the court has properly acknowledged the appalling abuse suffered by my client.
“Whilst no amount of money can make up for horrific sexual abuse, the award at least goes some way to recognising the devastation inflicted on my client throughout her childhood and adult life.
“Gadd’s refusal to engage with the process merely proves his utter lack of remorse, something we will be reminding the parole board about if he makes another application for early release.
“We will be pursuing Gadd for payment and will continue to support our client through this process.”
In 2015, Glitter was convicted on one count of attempted rape, four counts of indecent assault and one count of sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13.
Justice officials released him last year to let him carry out the remaining half of his sentence on probation, but he was jailed within weeks for violating the terms of his protection.
His sentence is set to end in 2031.
At the time of sentencing nine years ago, Judge Alistair McCreath said there was no evidence Glitter had atoned for his actions.
He said: “I have read the victim impact statements of all three victims. It is clear, in their different ways, they were all profoundly affected by your abuse of them.
“You did all of them real and lasting damage. And you did so for no other reason than to obtain sexual gratification for yourself of a wholly improper kind.”

Mark Wahlberg thinks all of his success is down to his faith

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Wahlberg thinks all of his success is down to his faith.
The 53-year-old Hollywood star – who is married to model Rhea Durham and has Ella, 20, Michael, 18, Brendan, 15, and 14-year-old Grace with her – is a practicing Catholic and explained that his dedication to religion has enabled him to find a “good balance” within his life and career.
He told Fox News Digital: “My faith, my faith and my family and just finding good balance. But I have to attribute all my success to my faith. It’s the most important thing.”
The ‘Father Stu’ actor previously insisted that he “doesn’t shy away” from his religion but also does not wish to force it on others, although he “doesn’t know” if the concept is still popular in the modern world.
He said: “It’s just the most important aspect of my life. It’s the most important thing. It’s afforded me all the things that I’ve been able to accomplish in my life — my faith, my discipline. I don’t know that it’s not popular. I just kind of focus on me again. I don’t shy away from my faith, but I also don’t jam it down anybody’s throat.
“I’ve always said that I hope God is a movie fan. I mean, I’ve made some movies, whether it be ‘Boogie Nights’ or even ‘Ted’ where, you know, they could be a bit questionable.
“But I also don’t want to compromise my artistic integrity. But as a parent and as a husband, those things definitely weigh into my decision-making. But I do like taking chances and risks. But I also was really proud of making a movie [‘Father Stu’] that was a love letter to my faith.”

Jude Law regrets trying to shun ‘handsome’ roles before he turned ‘saggy and balding’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jude Law wishes he’d embraced his good looks before he became “saggy and balding”.
The 51-year-old actor has admitted he used to try and avoid roles that played on his heart throb reputation early in his career, but now he regrets not making the most of it.
Speaking to DuJour magazine, he said: “I didn’t feel like I really ever leaned into playing handsome, but there were roles that required an attractive energy.
“I was trying to play against my looks in my early 20s, and now that I’m saggy and balding, I wish I had played it up.”
As his career has progressed, ‘The Holiday’ actor has tried to take on roles which haven’t “leaned in to any sort of attraction”.
He added: “It’s been satisfying not having to turn that switch on.”
That’s no more clear than his new role as Henry VIII in ‘Firebrand’, which saw the Hollywood star throw himself into every aspect of the character.
He explained: “It took so much time every morning to get into this huge, weighted costume and I would stay in it for the rest of the day.
“You could rehearse in jeans and a T-shirt, but then you would turn up in this enormous outfit and realise you’re going to knock everyone over.
“So you might as well maintain that sense of Henry’s shape and size.”
Jude even tried to match the king’s infamously “awful” scent, as he wanted to add to the authenticity of the performance.
He revealed: “I read several interesting accounts that you could smell Henry three rooms away. His leg was rotting so badly.
“He hid it with rose oil. I thought it would have a great impact if I smelt awful.”
To make sure he smelled the part, he turned to a special parfumier, who helped create a truly unsettling scent for him to wear.
He said: “She makes wonderful scents, and she also makes awful scents.
“She somehow came up with this extraordinary variety of blood, fecal matter and sweat. Initially, I used it very subtly. But then it became a spray fest.”

Austin Butler feels ‘nostalgic’ over the early days of his career before Hollywood stardom

OHMYGOSSIP — Austin Butler feels “nostalgic” over the early days of his career.
The 32-year-old actor became one of the most sought-after stars in Hollywood following his acclaimed performance as the King of Rock n Roll in the 2022 biopic ‘Elvis’ but still has fond memories of appearing in ‘Sex and the City’ prequel ‘The Carrie Diaries’ more than a decade ago.
He told E! News: “‘Carrie Diaries’ for me was a time where I moved to New York for the first time. I was surrounded by people that I love to be around, I learned a lot and I was falling in love with that city and so I look back with a lot of nostalgia.”
The ‘Dune: Part Two’ star appeared alongside ‘Bridge to Terabithia’ AnnaSophia Robb – who took on the role made famous by Sarah Jessica Parker – in the CW series and reflected being “surrounded by people” during that time in an environment that simply “doesn’t exist” for him anymore.
He said: “You have these moments in time where certain people surround you or you’re in a particular environment and then after a while that time doesn’t exist anymore. And then you’re just left with that feeling of nostalgia.”
Austin began his career in the late 2000s, when he appeared opposite Miley Cyrus on the Disney Channel sitcom ‘Hannah Montana’ and then later with Britney Spears’ sister Jamie Lynn in the Nickelodeon series ‘Zoey 101’.
But he used to strive to be like Leonardo DiCaprio – who shot to worldwide fame in his early 20s after playing Jack Dawson in ‘Titanic’ – and thought he would never hit the big time when he reached that age himself.
He told Vanity Fair: “From the very beginning, when I first got on set, it was just a neat thing that I could do as a 12-year-old kid. Then once I started going to acting class and realized there’s a craft behind it—that sort of became this addiction for me. Addiction might be a strong word, but obsession with finding honesty, really. I started looking at a lot of different people’s careers.
And Leo, when I was about 15, became that guy, because he’d made that transition. Every film that he chose, you could see the level of passion that he still had for the work. And that’s been a surreal thing, looking back at what my dreams were when I was 15, and then getting to work with the people that he got to work with, getting to be on set with him. There’s a lot of these pinch-me moments in my life and that’s definitely one of them.”

Daisy Ridley felt ‘deeply uncomfortable’ confronting sexism on set

OHMYGOSSIP — Daisy Ridley admits it still feels “deeply uncomfortable” to confront sexism on film sets.
The ‘Star Wars’ actress has reflected on her experiences on another project – which she hasn’t named – when she noticed she was being treated differently to one of her male co-stars.
Appearing on the ‘Reign with Josh Smith’ podcast, she said: “I did a job and I was doing something physical in the same way that the male character was doing something physical.
“And one of the stunt team was coming over to pat the man on the back and it got to a point where I said, ‘Are you not gonna do the high fives and all the stuff to me?’
“And he was really thrown by it. I think it was really difficult for him because it was not badly intended he was just they were doing the ‘the male thing,’ that they’re comfortable doing and that didn’t include me even though I was doing exactly the same thing as the man that he was congratulating.
“Then of course it’s deeply uncomfortable because when you do speak up, the person that’s speaking up feels really uncomfortable.”
The ‘Young Woman and the Sea’ actress described the behaviour as something that was “learnt”, while she was disappointed the person in question didn’t apologise for his actions.
She added: “It’s behaviour that’s learnt… it was just one of those things that I really, really noticed because it happened again and again.
“And then when I said it to the person – I think being able to apologise is really important.
“If you do speak up for something, it takes a lot of bravery for the other person to say, ‘I’m really sorry. I actually did not realise I was doing that. I see you both in the same way,’ and the person couldn’t do that.
“But you know, maybe on the next job he does, which would be great.”
While she can’t control what other people do, the 32-year-old star focuses on keeping her “side of the street clean” in the hope it can “help change” things for others in the industry.
She said: “I think small acts of courage do something and I try to keep my side of the street clean and I try to advocate for what I can for the next person that’s going to be in that situation.
“I think that oftentimes what we can all do is the small things that really make a huge difference… it’s really scary a lot of the time but the small thing might help change for the next person in the industry.”

“To me, it’s just a brilliant mixing of the comedy and sheer horror that we love to watch.

Cyndi Lauper ‘didn’t think Madonna liked her’ during long running ‘rivalry’

OHMYGOSSIP — Cyndi Lauper doesn’t think Madonna “liked” her when they both rose to fame.
The ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ hitmaker has reflected on the way she and the ‘Like A Prayer’ singer – who both released their debut albums in 1983 – were pitted against each other when they were starting out, and admitted she thought it was a “sad” state of affairs.
She told E! News: “Isn’t that sad, there can only be room for one? I didn’t like it.”
Asked if she ever told Madonna how she felt about the way they were portrayed as each other’s competition, Cyndi suggested she didn’t think it would have made a difference.
She added: “Nah, I didn’t think she liked me that much.”
The 70-year-old music legend even kept the rivalry in mind when it came to her fashion choices, to avoid people thinking she was copying Madonna.
Reflecting on her hairdo in the mid-1980s, she said: “See, my hair at that point, Madonna had blonde hair.
“I said ‘OK doll, I’ll just put a black spot here so they know the difference between the two of us.’ ”
The ‘Time After Time’ singer recently admitted she wishes they could have been friends.
She told the New York Times newspaper: “It was a shame. I would have liked to have a friend.”
She also quipped: “It was like apples and oranges,” in reference to people being made to ‘choose’ one.
Now, Cyndi is preparing for her farewell tour after announcing one last jaunt playing her music across North America, and she admitted she wants to go out on a high.
The ‘True Colors’ star said: “I don’t think I can perform the way I want to in a couple of years. I want to be strong.”
She has been working hard to prepare for the tour, with her preparations including yoga and weight exercises, plus healthy eating, physical therapy and four days a week of vocal coaching.
She added: “When you’re a singer, you have to be an athlete. You can’t f*** around. When you’re 20, yeah. But when you get older? No.”

Kristin Cavallari reveals she became underweight during her ‘really unhappy marriage’

OHMYGOSSIP — Kristin Cavallari ended up being “very thin” during her “really unhappy marriage”.
The 37-year-old reality star was married to Jay Cutler from 2013 until 2022 and has Camden, 11, Jaxon, 10, and eight-year-old Saylor with him but reflected that she ended up being “so stressed” towards the end of the relationship that was incredibly underweight.
Speaking on her ‘Let’s Be Honest with Kristin Cavallari’ podcast, she explained: “I was very thin. I’ll put it in perspective for you guys. I’m 5’3″. I currently weigh 114 pounds. Filming ‘Very Cavallari’, I got down to 102, and I was eating the same amount of food that I’m eating now. The difference was I was so unhappy and so stressed out.”
The former ‘Hills’ star – who previously alleged that the reason for the split was because Jay expected her to be a stay-at-home mom and not work – explained that she sometimes looks back on photographs from that time and wonders how she ever manged to deal with having “so much on [her] plate” emotionally all at the same time.
She said: “I look back at photos from that time period and I am like, ‘Holy s**t.’ I was rail f****** thin. I was skin and bones. I looked like s***. I think I look so much better now. And you guys, that was just stress. That was being in a really unhappy marriage, quite honestly. Literally, I was so unhappy, and I had way too much on my plate.”
But now, Kristin is dating TikTok star Mark Estes and admitted that she is doing “so much for ” to take care of both her physical and mental health.
She said: “Now, I’m just taking care of myself in so many more ways too. I work out with a trainer one day a week, lifting really heavy weight. And then I usually work out three to four [other] times. So I work out four to five times a week, one time with a trainer. I lift weights on my own two to three more times… I think with the gym, it’s consistency.
